That is not being toxic just a good strategy by getting mad you start to play worse and that works for survivors its just a game

I assume you feel the same way about camping and tunneling?

  • Survivors: "We think slugging is unfair and all survivors should auto-heal!"

Also Survivors: "Lets sabo all the hooks and try to keep the killer from being able to play!"

  • Boon Totems are inherently unfair. Survivors already have 16 perks, now if each brings a boon, that's 3 free perks for every player. 12 abilities added to the game for the cost of 1 perk slot each.

What do killers get to balance this out? Nothing. Also it weakens all Hex's because survivors have to destroy them to use theirs.

  • I suck at Nurse, but she's fun.

I’ve been matched with them more than enough to justify making a support ticket with evidence which is what I have done, and by “harass” I mean what they’ve done according to the rules qualifies as harassment/targeting rather than your snide comment. I’ve not had a survivor do this to me ever.

I've been reported for letting survivors 3-gen themselves. "It was definitely a valid reason" doesn't prove anything. The point of my snide comment is "this did or did not ever happen to me" doesn't mean it did or didn't happen to others. Because it happened to you once, that doesn't prove that's how it always happens, doesn't prove it common, doesn't dispute the collective experiences of others. You were SNIDELY implying that killers commonly harass survivors and survivors never would. If you don't like snide replies, don't make snide posts.

No one should harass anyone. If some ######### was out of line, I hope he got banned, you don't deserve that. But survivors cry anytime a killer tries to play against them. What you're calling "harassment" might be a killer killing you. Was it tunneling?

  • @th3 said:

I haven’t had a survivor harass me because I escaped multiple matches in a row from them just saying

Your questionable anecdotal evidence definitely proves all other players are wrong.

How many times in a row did you get matched with the same killer? By "harass" do you mean he tried to kill you in-game?

  • Survivors are far more toxic because they expect the killer to follow rules they made up, that puts them in a state of outrage when the opposing team doesn't help them win.

Everyone can be toxic, but it comes naturally to survivors because of their entitlement.

Bots to play against to learn new killers etc.. Don't like the idea of them being mixed with real players though.

Make a bot that detects hacks already.

A bot that represents the Entity, slaughters and humiliates hackers while remaining players giggle.

  • They should count as kills in every way. DC's should be wins for the other team. A killer DCs = everyone alive escapes and gets all the points.

  • Not a flop. Sadako is fun to play, but weaker than a boon totem. Sometimes when I play killer, I want to be strong instead of weak.

  • Why even have slugging be an option? Survivors should just get extra points for being hit.

Gen rush is also a pretty silly complaint. So what do you expect the survivors to do, not work on gens? I never understood that one.

I like to see it as a silly counter-argument to tunneling. You're speeding the game up too much, I have to kill you faster.

Although when I go against a team with four toolboxes and BNP, it seems like a real thing. I've had lots of recent matches where I get my first hook reasonably quickly, then the last gen pops and I run back to camp it for endgame. Nobody gets any points.

But whatever, if that's your game, play it.

Not entirely true. If you target one specific player over multiple matches while ignoring everyone else then it can be considered griefing and is against game rules

you can read the game rules here:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system

    Specifically this:

    GRIEFING: INTENTIONAL GAMEPLAY ABUSE

    • Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience

So go ahead and describe the part where the killer abused gameplay. Using a mori once?

How could a killer influence the game's matchmaking without a hack?

Can't. Can't target a survivor repeatedly using in-game mechanics, all you can do is play against who you're matched with. Finding a way to do so would be against the rule you quoted, but at this time there's no way to do this without hacks, so it doesn't apply unless someone is using hacks.

Killers don't control the matchmakaing AT ALL. We can dodge or ready up, there's no "target ___________" option. There's no exploit, no game mechanic to abuse, no way to make this rule apply except to hackers.

INTENTIONAL is a word with a meaning. You can't intentionally do something you have no control over. You've created an impossible scenario to make this rule apply, it will be useful when impossible things start happening, but for now it's not.

Telling this guy that killers are required to make sure they're not killing the same survivor in multiple matches isn't going to help him enjoy the game, and it's nonsense. If he gets matched with this killer again, the killer is supposed to try to kill him again. Thanks to your misinformation, he might now feel cheated as well, even though he isn't. The killer is allowed to play the game even if matchmaking repeats itsself. The game is about getting away from killers, not feeling entitled to free escapes because of ridiculous misinterpretations of the rules.

You can refer to the game rules as much as you want, you have to read them all to understand them. INTENTIONAL is an important word.

  • No, there's no rule about killing a survivor because you recognize them. We're supposed to kill survivors, it's never against the rules.

It would be cheating if they were somehow able to influence being matched with you, but otherwise killers are allowed to kill you using mori's in every single match.

Also reporting doesn't really do anything.

You signed up to play a game where killers try to kill you, just accept that it's going to happen sometimes. Work on making it happen less, that's what this game is.

  • Yeah, you guys complaining about RNG have to realize that traps don't usually kill, and without some effort, might not even slow them down. It's like Ruin, you have to interfere with survivors to make it effective. They have plenty of time unless you waste it.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

Knocking someone out of the game is usually the highest priority, and it's what I would have done too. It doesn't matter if a survivor has an active trap, because the killer can't guarantee they will find that survivor again anytime soon. If the killer let that survivor go, there is a risk that survivor eventually gets their hat off, then spends the rest of the game cautiously doing generators, while trying to avoid the killer as much as possible.

I don't care if it "wastes a trap", and I don't care if the survivor "wasn't progressing the game". It's the best game choice if the killer wants to win the game.

I agree with this Pig. Traps on their own very rarely lead to kills, add-ons can make it happen, but a couple of short chases is more effective.

Hatted survivors have plenty of time to check all four boxes, but if a Pig makes them skip a box and come back to it, now they're effectively doing an extra box. Chase them away from another and now they're really pressed for time because of all the extra travel.

Also about half of survivors run to a gen when you chase them, I've patrolled an entire map while in chase. There's no reason to drop a chase if it's the way you wanted to go anyway. Lots of times when I chase someone with an active hat, that's why.

But mostly it's because I realize the game will be over in a couple minutes, a bird in the hand is worth two in the jungle-gym. As a lifelong hit-and-run killer, I struggle to be effective with anyone who's not Bubba or Huntress in the current game.

  • It's true. I've won a ton of games because of a 3-gen, and I've never planned one, it's always just survivors doing all the farthest gens.

  • @ThanksForDaily said:

    This is actually hilarious.

The devs in a 6 months period literally killed a good survivor after years of introducing meme/bad survivor perks on every chapter. The gutting streak continues with the Dead Hard nerf soon and who know what else.

And meanwhile killers getting strong slowdown perks every chapter stacking them in every match and buffing the current ones.

Also another killer buffs are on the way. This is happening because the vast majority of the forums are filled with killer mains complaining about every single thing. Keep the gutting devs, next patch CoH 5/10/15%.

Yeah, a multimillion dollar corporation is making decisions based on posts in the forum.

NOT the dwindling killer numbers or game data, it's people's opinions that steer their decisions.

See what I'm doing there? I'm being sarcastic.

  • In the movies you can get rid of it by getting someone else to watch it, condemning them. That would be a fun mechanic.

It Is such an Iconic franchise maybe we will get It one day

Spike with voice lines would also be great. To me, anyway. I loved the show.

  • I don't play survivor at all, but I'd buy Buffy just out of respect.

  • This is called "projection."

  • It's not that survivors won't play without the meta, it's that they can't.

  • Because it's part of the game.

It wasn't always allowed, but people did it anyway. Now it's allowed. You get to do what you want, so do other players. Random weirdness is part of the fun, or at least part of the game. I'm sorry survivors are mean to each other, they're mean to me, too. Again, part of the game.

Every survivor wants the game changed so they always succeed at every action. Think of how ridiculous that is. Being entitled only leads to getting angry every time the game doesn't go the way you want. That's how games are, you don't always succeed.

  • @h3llthing said:

They kind of lose points for remaining near the hook, but not significantly (it impacts their end of game emblem ratings). It's usually not a fantastic strategy but it isn't discouraged or punished by the game much.

It might be due to your gamer tag but it might also just be inexperience. Lower-level killers (which you are probably going to be matched with if you are new) tend to face camp a lot. MRR experiments may also be impacting who you are being matched up with as well.

There are some homophobic people who play this game (I've met some) but BHVR has been supportive of LGBT issues and a lot of the playerbase is LGBT+ or an ally, so who knows? I'm sorry it's happening to you--it makes survivor really unfun when that's basically all that happens every game.

It's a fantastic strategy against many types of players. Four flashlights in the lobby? Camp for 4k. Everyone comes running to block the hook? What should a killer patrol?

It's absolutely the best play against bullies, they don't care about gens anyway, usually stop working them completely to fight at the hook. Everybody wins.

  • Survivors will quit at the drop of a hat. You'll see it on Bubba, Nurse, Huntress, Blight, anyone that can pose a challenge will inspire the quit in some players.

They complain about their queue, but they'll jump back in it rather than take a chance of being "bored".

    THATS STUPID WHAT

is it supposed to be like that and will never change or is that a donk

That's just how it works. Stealth perks on Doc have to be worked around, some perks work better or worse with certain killers. That's part of the fun,

It's not as bad as it sounds, you can only SB once per minute, so save it a few more seconds. If you catch them at a gen using tinkerer, they're not going to have time to get out of your radius when it returns.

I generally go the opposite, I'll cover the whole map with Doc's terror radius if I can.

Edit: also don't feel bad, I once tried Insidious Doc, I was gonna hide and zap everyone. Just stood there and zapped nobody, over and over.

  • Stay off the hook and I definitely won't.

  • In the old days, hitting a survivor while they were on the way to rescue meant they wouldn't do the rescue, they'd run and keep you busy while someone else rescued. That was called a "safe unhook".

Now, wounded survivors ALWAYS go for the unhook. Not just after being wounded while trying to rescue, I'm saying if I hit a survivor who's working a gen while a teammate is hooked, they will ALWAYS jump up and go for the unhook. Often they'll lead me back just in time to catch a better player trying to play smarter.

  • If you have a better idea, killers would love to hear it.

As it stands, wounding doesn't matter at all unless you get them on hook. Letting them leave your presence while wounded means your wound was a waste of time.

You get 25 hits, that just means you lost points for 25 heals.

I mean it rewards you for Survivors tapping a gen its there for a reason if you're tired of gen tapping there's a perk to counter that.

if it happens once every 80 seconds, can that really be called a counter?

  • Might not take effect until after 7pm, I think that's when daily's reset.

edit: although things like this usually happen at 11am Est

  • @LL123 said:

Huntress's ax has a very large hitbox.

This is the complaint of survivors.

It's not like the Death Slinger hitbox.

    Hitbox needs to be nerfed

Hatchets are a lot bigger than the end of Deathslinger's spear. The hitbox is supposed to be the size of the moving projectile in DBD. You have to consider that hatchets spin rather than moving in a straight line, so a hatchet can hit you as it goes over your head.

Most survivor complains about hatchets are really because the survivor's hitbox is confusing them. Survivors all have the same size hitbox despite being different sized people. That means a hit right beside a Meg hits her. The animations/models can't always match what's happening in-game.

What you need to do is be more careful. Huntress is dangerous. Keep your hitbox hidden.

  • This is the worst post I've ever read.

Killers get to play just like survivors do, you don't get to make rules for us, you don't get to restrict our choices. It's our game too. Play a single-player game if you want bots.

I'll be nice to everyone if I want to. Throwing the game is cheating in lots of games, but not this game, not for killer. This game is asymetrical, it's not supposed to be fair, it's supposed to be fun. Don't expect fairness from me, I'm there to kill you.

Sometimes it's a lot of fun having a little human interaction. A non-obnoxious Claudette gives me her toolbox because she doubts she'll find the hatch while I'm chasing. In my way of thinking, I already won. I owned the map. I decide she's right, Bubba can be empathetic when approached correctly, that's canon. So we find the hatch, she politely waits for me to chainsaw her and then hops in. That's fun sometimes. I think it puts us both in a good mood going into the next match. Mercy is a form of power, and it's a fun part of the game.

And you have to understand what I gave up. According to BP, Claudette won that trial. I gave her my "No One Escaped" bonus along with enough points that she'll have the top score even if she did nothing. That would have been mine, but I thought it was worth it for that fun little interaction.

I decide. You decide what happens when you win.

They could give us some info about when will their solution come out. Is it next chapter? Next year? Soon™? Never?

I would like to see some relief in the meantime, a constant Bloodrush wouldn't hurt my feelings.

  • After pre-judging several killers then later discovering I love them, I'm now open minded to virtually any killer. If he's fun to play, I'll be Casper the Friendly Ghost.

  • @Peanits said:

To go into details on that a little bit, removing them is not as simple as selecting tier 1/2 of each perk and pressing delete. In order to reduce each perk to one tier, you'd have to update the bloodweb to support it (and additionally, add support for any already-generated bloodwebs that contain perks below tier 3). Likewise, the perk tiers would have to be removed from the UI wherever they appear, and any place a tier 1 perk could appear (e.g. In the Shrine), you'd have to update it to show the tier 3 version of the perk instead.

So while it sounds very simple and can be said in a couple words ("Remove perk tiers"), it would actually be a substantial amount of work.

As for why it's not a permanent solution: Each time new content is released, not only does the amount of perks increase, but the number of characters you need to unlock all those perks on increases as well. Since you have two different factors increasing here, the grind is increasing exponentially over time, not linearly. Even if removing perk tiers would make it manageable for now, sooner or later it would catch back up and become a massive grind again. We've made changes in the past to reduce the grind, such as reducing bloodweb cost/size, adding additional perks to bloodwebs, etc. While these worked great in the short term, the grind always caught up eventually.

Would it reduce the grind pretty significantly for now? Yes, absolutely! But if we're going to spend a bunch of time on something to fix the grind, it makes more sense to spend the same amount of time and work on a permanent solution instead. (And for what it's worth, we do have something else planned for it!)

Long story short, it's not to shoot down the idea of removing perk tiers. It would reduce the grind, absolutely. It would just take as much time as a more permanent solution.

Peanits: "Removing Tiers is not as simple as just removing them from the code. There are many working parts that are connected, we can't just take it out that simply."

Players: "But just take it out, remove it from the code. Simply."

Thanks for the details, Peanits. You guys get flak for not sharing info with us enough, this isn't like that, and it's appreciated.

    My thoughts:

Possible problem: everything is so cheap that you can buy more items/addons/offerings than you can actually use while playing. It would make lower tier addons/items/offerings useless.

That's why in my opinion having the perks in the same bloodweb as addons/items/offerings is not a good system. But this would mean a larger rework which is not a topic of this thread.

Doesn't the grind kinda make it that way already? I have to clear so many webs to get my perks, I usually have a surplus of addons and offerings. My favorites are often green or yellow, though, so that might explain my experience.

  • A Macro is when you program a key to do multiple things when pressed. You can make a macro to type a sentence, run a program, press multiple keys at once, etc., or in this case, click the flashlight key as fast as possible. It's basically a full-auto button for the flashlight.

  • So many GF reveal complaints are caused by players not understanding the mechanics. Just seeing part of him won't do it if he's hiding correctly.

The other day I was running Tinkerer with GF for a challenge and survivors kept trying to break me out of Tinkerer's stealth. I'm sure they were like "THIS IS SO BROKEN!"

If you are that unhappy, why you are still playing this game? Just curious.

Does a player have to love every killer to enjoy this game?

  • I played Space Orks and Eldar in Warhammer 40k in the early days of the internet. Before the WWW existed, I was using the name Jester Warphead on BBS's and newsgroups. That's a reference to each army, the Eldar's heavy gunners are called Death Jesters and when an Ork psyker (a Weirdboy) goes insane it's called a Warphead.

Over the years, it just became Warphead. It's also embedded in my UPC tattoo. I'm old, I've been Warphead online for more than 30 years.

  • They can't nerf Dead Hard, every game would be a 4K except AFK Pig.

  • I dodge when there are clones if I'm running any obsession perks. Otherwise, I tunnel clones because I can't tell them apart. Gets on my nerves, no variety.

Although once I went against a squad of David's that dressed all in black and played like a commando squad, that was pretty cool. Safe unhooks, losing me in chase, watching each other's backs but when necessary instead of showing off, it was like Seal Team Six out there.

I can appreciate a theme, last night a team of Feng's all wearing the same outfit in different colors, they looked sharp.

I dodge any lobby where people keep changing, pick your loadout before I get there or wait some more. If you weren't ready, you shouldn't have clicked ready. I'm ok with the last-minute-switch though, lets me know you want to play hard.

And last of all, I dodge more than 2 toolboxes. My queue is pretty much instant, but I'm not going to sit through lobby and loading screens to play five minutes. Two toolboxes with two BNP, that's essentially a couple free gens. I was in this game last night, two gens popped before I could make my first full patrol, I got a hook from one of the popped gens, ran back to that same hook to camp it because now it's endgame.

5 mins, nobody got any points. I don't get it.

  • I don't know, but late-night killer is godawful unless it's the weekend.

  • I like to experiment with weird builds. Like multiple gen kicking perks with different cooldowns so I'm kicking gens and random things seem to be happening.

Or multiple stealth perks, M&A along with Trail of Torment or something, along with stealth addons, just so my terror radius keeps changing.

Also I like to play Fast-Crawling Ghostface. That's when I stack the addons that increase movement speed while crouching, so I'm moving pretty quick while crouching. Doesn't accomplish anything, but it makes me laugh.

I love stacking addons, so whatever my addons are doing, they're doing it a lot. If I'm trying to create slowdown with demo or cause condemnation with Onryo by forcing survivors to destroy portals/turn off tvs, I'll go all in. Not blind or oblivious, blind AND oblivious.

There's so many ways to cause chaos with Doc. Doc's the only killer where I regularly let survivors escape, I feel like they earned it.

I don't win a lot, so I'm not saying any of these will cause winning.

If you're looking for fun with Bubba, don't forget to run Beast's Mark and chainsaw for distance.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 15
