You don't have to cancel their offering, just playing one of your own will cut their chance in half.
-
You're so close to getting it. The entire game is made of complications and conflicting choices, layers of it. That's why killer powers are always delayed or have extra requirements. If a power is similar, the activation has to be different. Some hold, some charge, some have to recharge, some release when you release, some release when you M1, it's all deliberate.
Basement is supposed to be dangerous, that's the whole point. It's designed for snowball wins, survivors have to be careful or they'll all die there. That's why killers camp the basement, survivors cooperate.
If killer is camping, two survivors get closer and closer, from directions that make the killer turn to swing at you, eventually the killer has to pick one, the other unhooks.

Yeah, I see killers do that as well. Sometimes they are seriously nice, sometimes they just fool you. It's just gambling. I had a killer who let me wiggle free at exit gate (last surv, got downed close to exit). I started to open, he nods. Seconds later, he downed me again, let me wiggle free.. he did that three times. And hooked me in the end 🙄 I can just imagine they sitting in front of their Screen laughing. 🤪
Whenever I do something like that as a killer (nodding, let wiggle free on exit, drop next to hatch and so on..) i stick to it. I am never the one who changes his mind after that, because I would feel like the biggest **** around acting nice and then smash them right in their face when they feel safe. But yeah, I understand some killers might consider it funny, oh well just let them do.. but never trust 100% ;P
But @topic, I wouldn't care if there were gestures for killers, would be okay with that. I just think it would take away some of the chills/creepy feeling. "The unknown evil.. what might this killer be up to.. oh nooo!😨". Not as if the creepy feeling is still there after hours of gametime but.. maybe you know what I mean.
I don't understand people like that either, I'd assume they're grumbling about teaching you a lesson for something another player did, or something equally sad and pathetic. The important thing is nobody cares what people like that think, you shouldn't.
Think of trolls on either side as something that adds variety. It's not common, but it does keep us all on our toes. That's not how most killers are. Some survivors wait at the gate to tb, many wait to give you one last hit. Most of us are cool.
Betrayal can be funny if done immediately, but not if you're drawing it out like that, that's just mean and not a sign of a happy person.
I don't personally betray anyone, even as a joke, I don't think people being disappointed is funny. To me, funny is playing super-hard then being nice at the end. Or just doing something goofy. If I let you think you're escaping, it's gonna happen. I'm too proud for trickery, even if I wasn't too nice.
I still think that we're going to have to both completely agree with me about the gesture, though. I can and definitely would point at survivors in scary ways. I'd be threatening and calling my shots, "You, gonna hook you there." See how scary that is?
Glad you brought it up, now the devs can see how much scary drama is also being lost due to lack of gesture.

The achievement is hard to get and takes some time. (To open the Gates on RPD 20 times)
I was in a lobby with a streamer two times in a row and they sent us to RPD because they grinded the achievement. I would also not really say that it is survivor-sided and that this is the main reason why it is burned.
I had no idea, that explains so much. I thought they either really loved RE or just wanted to annoy me.
Thanks, now I'll know it's probably for a completely wholesome reason.

finally, the tombstone myers days are over. presumably. in 2 years.
I hope not. I love Myers and have never used the tombstone, but knowing it exists makes Myers scary. GF's power is superior in almost every way, but Myers is scarier. It's a tradition, Myers might be planning to just murder you, be careful.
If it's done a whole lot and I don't realize that, I'd understand. It's not really fair, but I think it should happen so rarely everyone's cool with it. If everyone's doing it, that's removing the spectacle and just leaving the unfairness. If that is or becomes an issue, I'd want it fixed.
I just hate to see things like that go. When you're telling your friends they should try DBD, that's the kind of example of excitement you might mention. "Myers can just straight-murder people! Ya gotta try this crazy game of horror-murder excitement!"
That's the kinda thing I say, anyway.
-
If RPD is killer-sided, why do survivors burn offerings for it so often? That's second only to gradeschool in my experience.

We use slashing the air for these situations.
When they don't comply, I rather account it to mistrust than misunderstanding.
I'm sure you're right about the mistrust, but it's open to misinterpretation. I've been letting a group of newbies open the exit, swung to get their attention and had them all panic and make a hopeless run to the other.
Also, you know I'm right about the fun. You'd be gesturing just as much as I would.
@[Deleted User] said:
You know, today I had a match where I was right at the exit. Nurse had hooked a Dwight in my sight (only me and him left). I had a challenge where I needed to escape. I was tempted to be selfish because I was injured but the Nurse nodded at me. She floated back a little and kept nodding. I cautiously approached but she keep nodding "Yes". I thought "Yeah, she is letting me unhook" She hit me before I could unhook and took me to another hook.
Never again will I trust a gesture of kindness.
That's just it, you're helping make my point.
It wasn't a gesture of kindness, it was "yes, come out so I can kill you". Sometimes that's what a nod means, that's why we need to point. At least then you'd know if you were betrayed or tricked. Now that quality drama is lost forever.
Also, woah, that was a bad call. A killer being nice at the exit is carrying the survivor to the gate/hatch, that's the only thing that proves a killer friendly at the exit, a drop at the exit. Do not ever trust a killer at the exit unless he's proven friendly and you're sure there's no Blood Warden.
Someday a friendly killer will help you trust again. Having a gesture would help.

Will we ever get an in-game option to kill teammate if he does not do generators. Maybe an item, sort of sacrificial knife. You kill a teammate who does not do generators and 1 gen gets popped? Also if he does not loop well kill him and do gen. Killer benefits a lot from feeding survivors (pop goes the weasel, scourge hook pain res etc) and from survivors not doing generators. I think survivors should have an option to prevent it
You do, you just leave them on the hook. Not a great plan, though. Even being worthless is a distraction that buys you time, everything the killer does to or because of the worthless player is more time the killer isn't doing anything to the rest of the team.
But you can't be murdering, only killers can do that. Union rules.

Women definitely are fun to dress up, I do have fun with their fashion. <3
However I personally enjoy more dressing up male characters. Maybe especially because less people bother with them, so I pull off some pretty or whacky styles lol. And I absolutely adore it whenever I see a survivor in my lobby dressed either very pretty or very weird but catchy. I screenshot it and use the same look later. xD
I think it adds a lot of fun to the game. I used to think it was silly, but I've grown to appreciate not just the variety, but like you're saying, the creativity.
All players need a gesture we can use to communicate "lookin' good"!
-
Lots of times I have no idea what offerings were played. I play a lot, I don't pay much attention to things. Lots of times I don't even know after the trial. I'm not known for my attention to detail.
I'm sorry that there are ANY spiteful people on either side, but most of us aren't like that and have a low opinion of those that are. Shrug that crap off, the rest of us are like you and love BP.
But also, you crank out a bunch of games, you'll see cakes left and right. Some people notice and care, some don't notice, some don't care.
Still the best plan is to just play them as often as possible, especially during events. It's not about getting a bunch of BP that trial, if you're just always playing them, it's like giving yourself a raise.
-
When I play Sadako, no one cares about condemned until it's full, then they start looking for tapes.
-
One thing women and men agree on, women are more fun to dress up.
-
I'm here to be killer. I get whatever survivor experience I want from single-player games, PZ, 7D2D, I love struggling, hiding, etc. But I come to DBD to be the monster, I don't get that experience anywhere else.
-
I feel like if you're aware of meeting the same opponent again, you need to either play more or pay less attention. If someone's getting under your skin so much you're memorizing their name and willing to wait long queues to avoid them, you're letting them win.
I love pretend-murdering people over a pretend-vendetta. You didn't see what we pretended went on between us, but I'm a dirty camper since I stopped you from last-minute unhooking him. He's not mad, he knows what he did, but you're mad and don't want to play with meanies like me ever again.
On the other hand, if someone on your team makes me laugh, there's a good chance I'll let the whole team out. When I see a team playing the way I like, I kinda want them to escape. I like players that don't give up and I like it when they make smart choices and work together. Rewarding that is also a power I have.
I've been enraged in game, but it's pretend. I'll put it on pause if I see you doing a glyph, you might be my worst enemy for a few minutes, but I won't mess you up on your glyph.
What I'm saying is, it's all for fun. Pretend murder should only pretend-upset you.
It's way more fun and rewarding if you recognize the trial isn't the game. The game of DBD is all the trials you play. If you've been playing any time at all, you've played more than a thousand. That means every trial is less than 1/1000th of the game, and getting smaller each time you ready up. There's no championship, no final boss, no big fight. Just little tiny trials that pay us points, but are really just for fun. A ranking that isn't public and resets every month.
I'm like Buddha of DBD, I want you all to enjoy the game like I do. You have to embrace the hard aspects, and remember that none of it matters.
-
I love Hux, for many of the same reasons, but I just don't enjoy his power that much. It's rewarding when it works well, it can be effective, I just get bored looking through cameras. We have manual cameras and automatic drones. We need manual drones and automatic cameras.
I wish there were addons that gave me an alternative to running cameras. Let me burn one to make my cameras mark survivors on their own, but slower and without triggering teleports. Heck, let me burn one to just make them motion detectors.
On the other hand, I love using the teleport in chase, but lots of times as Hux, I'm just chasing you unless I can't find anyone.
-
Great, so the killer can sit with the high-P survivors and wait while a dozen survivors dodge? I'm getting plenty of that now, I don't care for it.
Survivors dodge high-P survivors so much it's getting on MY nerves, and I only play killer. I don't dodge, so I'm just sitting there forever because Feng spent 100 million points on the only character she plays. That's not much different from most of us. I have more, I play a lot so before long I'll have way more. I have P10 on killers I don't play at all, because that's how many BP the old system made me spend to unlock the perks. I would hate the idea of being dodged based on meaningless information, and that's what that is.
If they leave it visible, it's a mistake to prestige beyond the norm.
That's not cool. It's fun to do stuff like that. So what, someone loves Feng? That makes you scared to play? That's sad, especially for killer.
But it's not a thing being caused by killers, it's being caused by a community that's somewhat cowardly. Stopping killers from doing this thing that's slowing down MY games is not an acceptable solution. No extra info until this community grows up.
-
The best way to deal with something that bothers you is to do it a whole bunch. You still think winning matters, and that's hindering you and ruining your time. It's like exercise, you don't get stronger by doing things that are easy. Losses are the sore-muscles of DBD. Strength is taking a beating and getting back up to fight some more.
Play some games that are unwinnable, you'll build skills that will make you more dangerous when you're armed, and you'll harden yourself to it. Once I log in, I just hammer out the trials, bam, bam, bam, just having fun, doing some pretend-violence, racking up BP. You're wasting a lot of time caring. No BP for caring.
Also throw a few games. Play hard, do really well, but don't win. Taste the poison and you'll get used to it, you'll realize it can't hurt you. Power in this game is controlling the trial. Not caring if you lose means you can go for the big plays, take risks, try all-or-nothing builds. Also it makes you more chill in chase, survivors dance around to confuse you, you're not in a hurry so you can just take your shot like it's no big deal.
That's your homework assignment. You're not very good at losing so you need more practice. Trust me, I'm an expert at losing.

There's always a chase for being optimal. I don't blame people for wanting that because people want to get as good as they can. However, that quest becomes all-consuming. One bad game of getting destroyed, one game against bad behaviours, one game with a toxic comment, one game where a team mate may screw them over ... all these can get someone upset because one thing this does is break that illusion of being skilled enough.
This game is largely governed by luck; moreso than skill. Unless somebody dedicates their life to this game, people will lose and lose often. Take this into consideration and focus on just doing well and the game becomes a lot of fun.
I don't care about meta builds and knowing how much percentage of a second I can shave off. I just go into every game on a completely randomised build. The game feels so much better for it and sometimes those lesser perks that appear can even be the main reason why I won. In a game where luck governs, it's no surprise playing in a random way is better than some may think.
People can't let this become all-consuming, the game isn't your job, it's a place we come to play. Drama, excitement, surprise... causes emotions, video games trigger adrenaline, causing physical excitement.
Everyone has to remember, you're doing this for fun. Horror movies are fun because they scare us but can't really get us. Roller coasters, same. This is the same. It's fast, it's brutal, it doesn't matter at all.
It's fun to get all riled up, our bodies like it. Our lives are relatively safe, but our primal selves love murdering/thwarting murderers, at no risk to either side. We both get paid in our points.
But everyone needs to remind themselves that this excitement is for entertainment.
You sound like you get it, I just like lecturing because I'm old. You're probably way better than I am. I don't like relying on perks, but I need at least a couple I use well.

Personally for me. If a killer is tunneling me hard, i just let them win and move on. They want it so bad, might as well give it to them. My self care is more important and i hope to get a better match where the killer knows there is another person behind the other screen and not go out of their way to make it miserable.
Quizzy gets it.
I'm a killer, if survivors come in with the plan to win as fast as they can, that will probably work. I don't freak out and try to stop them, I might turn it up some, but I don't care if they all get out. I play for chases, if survivors avoid chases, they'll win and I'm glad to see it happen quickly so I can get into a game with more chases.
But also Quizzy, tunneling isn't going out of their way to make you miserable, it's just trying to win. Tunneling = slamming gens, it's a good plan if your goal is winning. You and I don't like it, we'd prefer to get some more playing done, but we don't get to decide that for everyone. Part of the excitement of the game is that players are so unpredictable.
The game rewards us for playing more dramatically by giving us more points. I don't tunnel because I get more points if you live longer. There's nothing wrong with either side playing to win, though. BOTH sides should remember that we're all people on both sides.

Bro I feel you. I'm not a veteran at all almost at 2k. A personal goal of mine is to p100 nurse with no perks or addons, at first I sweated for 4ks but then I realized it didn't matter how many 4ks I got because that wasn't my goal, my goal was to get as many bp each match and p100 nurse. I quickly learned that playing for kills and not hooks and chases was crazy inefficient for that goal. Fast-forward to now even though I main nurse I get the most wholesome messages sometimes. Its due to just playing normally most teams know by now(P77) I could've wiped them and some are oblivious like you've stated have the GGS ez killer messages and teabag at the gates even though I had down them 6 times in front of a hook and let them get up or wiggle off.
The teabags don't bother me as I know when I've been outplayed which the teabags are deserved and welcomed. They serve as a reminder that I'm not better than everyone and that I still need to improve.
I was raised similar to you as well, in the sense of if you can't put the effort in getting better and you need to cheat to win then you ain't winning, your still a loser.
Nice to know that other killers are giving new players much needed break as well makes me smile.
The only thing we don't agree on is veteran status, I've been playing since '17 but I'm just over 1000 hours. I'm mostly using it to separate people who play DBD sometimes and people who are DBD players. I would consider you a veteran unless you've just hit it super-hard since you started.
But yeah. BP feeds my game as well. Long ago I noticed that longer games with lots of action meant more BP than a snowball where I played perfectly.
When a survivor tricks me in a funny way, I'm laughing at least as hard as they are. I nod when they TB, because yup.
Nice of you to say, I feel the same way. I love DBD in it's purest form, but there's plenty of room to just make it fun.

"What changes will we make so killers don't have to "waste minutes" playing this game?" believe it or not there's actually a solution to this already in the game: pick up and hook. That's it.
You have 2 survivors left alive in the trial. You down one of them and then....... you pick that survivor up and put them on a hook. That way that survivor dies and the last one either gets out (via hatch or gate) or you find the hatch first and kill the last.
Simple
Sorry, you're going to have to respond to what I said before I have anything really to say back. I was pointing out that trying to play this game isn't really "wasting minutes". The killer has to do things like find survivors, survivors have to do things like try to escape. Not only is it not convenient, it's designed not to be. The complications and variables are the game. The entire game is a made-up set of hoops to jump through to "win."
I don't know who you're talking to when you're telling me to hook, all I do is hook. I make no real effort to stop the last survivor from escaping unless I'm doing a challenge. I think someone barely making it out is a perfect game because that's how horror movies usually end. If I want to stop you from getting hatch, I'll do it by catching you and yes... hooking you.
I don't use the tactic, but also I think you're being kinda silly. The killer decides what the killer does. I'll slug everyone every match if I want to, if you don't like it, run.
But yeah, mostly I'm responding to say I have no response because you didn't address what I said.
I don't use that tactic, but if I want to, I will. I'm the killer.
-
Yeah, I"ve been playing since Leatherface, I like it more now than ever.
Only played survivor once, didn't like it, too scary.
@Marc_go_solo said:
As a 50/50 player, both sides are still a lot of fun. My belief as to why some become jaded is because some people may play beyond the point of enjoyment.
Remember when Cote was berated for suggesting if people are not having fun then they either try the other side or play something else for a bit? He had a damn good point. People shouldn't play something they don't have fun with, yet neither does that mean giving up on the game entirely. Take a break, or play it alongside another game. Those who mocked him hadn't thought his comment through.
Killer is still fun. I'm back on Trapper and even without the buffs the role is absolutely not unplayable. He's one of the weakest too! Best thing is to take a break if it's frustrating you. A clearer, refreshed perspective may help rejuvinate the enjoyment.
I think you're on to something. Since our skills in DBD don't carry over to other games much, I think lots of players get good enough to compete and if they quit, they feel like they wasted their time, so they play despite not wanting to. FPS players, etc, can just move to the new one everyone's playing. In our genre DBD is always the one everyone's playing.
I play all the time unless I want to play something else or not at all. I get into an SP game, you won't see me until I get tired of it, then I'll be back. To me, DBD is the game that's a breath of fresh air, it's the only multiplayer game I play.
My other favorite game, Project Zomboid, that's the game that abuses me emotionally. Play a character for 2 months, stock up on everything, learn to do everything, die. A ten minute trial with NOTHING to lose? Trials are like potato chips, I'll have a couple more, won't spoil dinner.
I just don't get why so many players take this game so seriously without loving it. I love it more than most players, I take none of it seriously. Never ever.
This is the thing we do to get away from the things in life we don't enjoy.

THNAK YOU SO MUCH! Finally someone understands it.
Very well said: survivors shouldn't have to endure wasted minutes in a game. It's just not something that should be able to be done. It's literally wasting another person's time which should be punished by letting survivors fully recover on their own.
What about killers? What changes will we make so killers don't have to "waste minutes" playing this game?
Every killer should have some basekit aura-reading so we don't have to be bored. It's toxic when survivors hide, when are the devs going to address this problem of immersed survivors? Is it fair that I have to try in this game?
-
I do it for fun. I've been playing forever, if I just played normally, I'd have lost interest. I don't ever just play a normal game unless a challenge is making me. I always have an alternate goal, I always bring or try something impractical. Now that flashlights are killswitched, I'm bringing Lightbourne just so survivors that notice will be like #########.
There are survivors that are oblivious. If I'm crushing a team for half the game, then I disappear completely or stop hooking at 8, I didn't get amnesia, I'm letting you out because I wanna. If they teabag at the end, they're showing how clueless they are. I don't care. If I had to prove something to them, I would have.
If you read my old posts, I wasn't a fan of friendliness among killers, felt it made the game boring. Then it was my own boredom that made me start doing goofier and goofier things. Convincing survivors you're not up to something is a huge challenge once you've beat on them a lot. Especially as Bubba. Now-I'm-Friendly Bubba is harder than Adept Bubba.
But it's not about fairness. There's nothing unfair about tunneling, keeping the team alive is the team's responsibility, not the killers. Someone should be taking aggro during an unhook, survivors forgot once they started using perks instead, now it's a lost art. Not the killer's job to ignore basics just because the survivors do. The person being unhooked SHOULD NOT be the one that blocks the killer, someone else should. Play like you want to win if you want to win.
I always play fair, I was raised by parents that had high standards, to cheat is to admit I had to cheat. I'd rather lose than play unfairly, because I was taught dignity is more important than any game. Needing or seeking an advantage is for weak people.
That being said, my habit of cycling people through hooks is a flex. It started because I wanted to force myself to pay more attention to which survivor is which, just something I wanted to improve on, who was on death hook, who had which perk, etc. Started going for 8 hooks before killing to learn to keep track, now I do it just to show that I can. Showing survivors I decided who and when, the survivors that get it will get it. I like the idea that it's over some player's heads. I've been eating a sandwich and it still took them this long, and now they're teabagging? Heh.
I play fairly because I would be ashamed not to. Everyone should play fair. Cheating to win doesn't make you smart, it means you know you're likely to lose otherwise.
But I'm sometimes nice because it's often fun. I don't get any joy out of showing new players I'm better than them, it would be sad if I weren't. I love to scare them, but it's often a lot of fun to later welcome them all, show them veteran killers remember how hard it was. Hook them, and then hook them up... with some points and an escape at a time when that might be rare for them.
It seems to make them super-happy, too. Often that makes me feel more powerful than a 4K against new players would. I never cared when mad survivors tried to hurt my feelings in after-chat, but when they shower me with thanks and talk about how amazing I am, turns out I like that pretty good.
People like me in real life, but nobody tells me I'm amazing.

So if they can keep the killer in an area where the timer is going, while somehow avoiding it themselves. For example if the radius is different, or if the timer doesn't start until the same survivors is inside for a certain amount of time, they could take turns keeping the killer inside or making him run through it. Manipulating the way the mechanics work. We've got quite a few assumptions here on things that could be true, but sure, let's just say they are. If the survivors are so skilled that they can keep you on this razor thin edge for enough time that the hook meter fills and you don't manage to down anyone else in that time, you're probably toast anyway.
Also, if they are running you in circles for that long, why not just unhook? If one survivor can keep you occupied that long, a teammate can just do an unhook and now 3 people can be on gens.
Plus, even if they manage to pull that off the survivor gets to unhook. Seems like a lot of risk when there is a much more simple solution.
And even if all of that is somehow still true, you could just go look for the other survivor(s) doing gens.
Getting jump-offs against killers that don't camp will be huge.If the killer is not camping, why in the world would the survivors just not unhook.
You gotta know there are tons of players just playing to be obnoxious. There are players who enter the game just for the purpose of looping. If someone wants to try looping me close to the hook, with the knowledge that their presence slows or stops the hook timer, and they want to keep confined to a tight area, okay, it's better than just chasing them around shack again.
Nothing says you have to be by the hook. Even if all of the survivors gathered by the hook, and somehow you didn't believe you could catch any of them, they're the ones that will eventually have to unhook.
You asked a question, then answered it by quoting my post:
If the killer is not camping, why in the world would the survivors just not unhook.
You gotta know there are tons of players just playing to be obnoxious.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's the answer, right up there /\ In my post, I followed up with details, but you summed it up just fine.
As to your implying I must be a bad killer "if survivors are so skilled they can run you on this razor-thin"... Have you really never at least played with a player that knew radiuses, ranges and timers, at least on basic things? That might not be the flex you think it is.
I'll learn, so I can't have it used against me. If I'm getting dinged, I want to deserve it. New facecamping might be really fun. I know obnoxious players exist, sometimes I'm one. Killers can be manipulative, too.
Also I play nice-at-the-end quite a bit, maybe instead of watching a 3-man let a solo die on first hook, I can camp him so he can live, then go tunnel his team. I can facecamp them, too, jumps will make the tunneling faster. See what I said about manipulating mechanics? I will definitely do this, I feel a kinship with good solo survivors.
Also with the obnoxious ones, as stated.
Anyways, you seem alright, but I'll totally kill you if we meet in the fog because you called me Toast. Now I have to make a list and put you on it. Crogers. That's the list. You. I'll be the Dredge that's always there, more often than you expect, anyway.
Nobody calls me Toast without me trying to pretend-murder them, so far. If I'm not playing Dredge, you'll probably be fine, but otherwise, it's done. Only one way to come off the list.
Again, so far. It's a new list.
Unless you play under a different name, if so, I guess you should keep the list.

“It was also a very "I don't give a sh*t about other survivors or accomplishing anything" type of playstyle, which supports my theory. Survivors will play hard to save a bot, the bot does not return the favor.”
👆🏽yep, 💯 for sure
Never had a bot loop me like a boss or anything, or haven’t seen any matches vs others where they seem set to even a mid to high skill level. Probz the older style as you mentioned, but I do believe they have the potential… their jukes just seem foreign from what I expected, I guess.
They're not even good at the loops, they just won't leave them. If there's a long loop they like during EGC, they'll die there every time.
-
Here's the thing, the MMR tries to put us all against players with similar win-rates or whatever, but it's also very concerned about wait times. Players that are waiting a while start becoming a priority, so matches just get matched regardless of experience.
I get the same thing, I'm getting lots and lots of brand new players mixed in, especially since Xeno. New players pouring in, we vets have to just do our duty.
Used to just be completely random, I don't know what's better.

The only way anyone could "abuse" this is through the killer actively facecamping, which is entirely up to the killer
Live, uh, finds a way.
I mentioned two right there in the post, there's no part where facecamping was involved:
- If they figure out a way to manipulate it so hooks stop being effective,
- If they keep jumping off because their team knows how to keep you within the zone
Getting jump-offs against killers that don't camp will be huge.
I'm talking about convincing the game I'm facecamping when I'm not and not trying to, LIKE SURVIVORS DO ALREADY. I lose points every night because some idiot made me chase him around the hook for a minute. That dings my emblem and gets on my nerves. I lose points for proximity to hook, I wanted and deserved those points.
They are making the game think I'm camping when I'm not, exactly what I said they would do. They'll do what they do, you can tell because it's what they already do. Have you never seen survivors that keep the killer near the hook? You know you have, it happens about a third of the time.
And that's exactly what will happen with this, it's hard to create a system that can't be gamed. Survivors do it now and it only hurts their team, once they have a mechanic they can mess with, they will. Rather than unhooking, they'll try to get survivors to jump off in the hopes it makes the killer mad. Solos will have to get really good at jumping off, because SWFs will make them.
You gotta know there are tons of players just playing to be obnoxious. I feel like you are cool so you don't think that way, you're assuming everyone's just playing for fun and friendly-violence and will be glad facecamping is harder. Most of us will, but there's plenty of players just here because they think being a pain in the a## is funny.
And I'm cool with it. Sometimes it is funny. It would be boring if everyone played the same way. I don't think facecamping should be easy or effective, but I also don't think I should lose points/hooks/kills because survivors know how to mislead the game. I know for a fact they'll do it, because like I said, they already do. A lot.

Every bubba:
I mained Bubba for years, only camped when the survivors were already there, which was and is a lot.
Otherwise, it's not a great or fun tactic. But I'm standing up for Bubbas that just play normally but with a chainsaw.
It's a self-fulfilling prophecy, all Bubbas camp so let's all swarm all Bubbas when they try to hook and then make them chase us around under the hook. Or lets all just stand there and look at him as if he's obligated to hide in a corner to prove something to you.
As Bubba, I camp only when survivors make it fun and effective. Same thing I do with all the other killers. But you'd be surprised how often survivors will give you no choice just because you're Bubba. I can only get away from the hook so fast.
-
The chance of SWFs not finding a way to abuse this is 0%, that will happen as sure as anything.
But it'll be fine. If they figure out a way to manipulate it so hooks stop being effective, bleed 'em out. If they keep jumping off because their team knows how to keep you within the zone, just keep putting them back or bleed everyone.
You have to use the tools at your disposal for whatever they throw at you.

I mean I can understand it with some killers that drag matches or 3 Gen, but at least someone like Artist will finish it fast. I would rather have a 3 minute game against a god nurse than 30 min of Hag holding a 3 Gen.
But I admitted that. I'm not asking people to suffer through a long game, but I am asking that we all just go ahead and play the games we end up with if it's not being dragged out.
I got no patience. We get to a lull in the game, I'm either gonna kill everyone as fast as I can or just let them do the gens so we can get back to the fun.
I guess what I'm saying "I'm nice, why don't people like me and let me chase them?"

People on both sides can be rather entitled to be honest, but I can only really speak for my Killer experiences as that’s my main role. I solo survivor once in a blue moon.
If a survivor gets down within the first 30 second of a match, I give it a 50/50 that they’ll DC. It’s pretty common. Sometimes survivor just stand out in the open or at a hook against me, and I rotate Killers I play (so it’s not just a Skull Merchant issue). It’s a case of “downed too fast, bye” “Killer I hate, bye”.
I’ve actually heard a streamer I faced say that they hate the entire Killer roster besides like, 5 Killers.
I don't think so on entitlement. Killers can be just as whiny as survivors, but I've never heard of killers demanding survivors handicap themselves or deliberately "give them a chance". Killers complain if survivors do gens too fast, but they don't usually call it toxic. I'm sure they have, but it's not common. Even accidental tunneling is toxic and makes a killer the worst type of human being.
The other stuff you're saying is exactly what I'm complaining about. Half the successful things I do in a trial were half-an-accident or half luck. Getting a super fast hook is often because you spawned near the gen I ran toward at random. If you're sneaky, I might never see your butt again until it's shaking at the exit. It's unreasonable to quit based on that.
Quitting as soon as the other team scores is exactly what I'm talking about. I had friends like that growing up, we picked on them and made fun of them about being crybabies running to mommy. Next time they wanted to play, no. Told 'em why. They'd either cry again or promise not to be a baby. The reason we were friends is because they learned. They stopped being so immature and learned to fit better into society. You pull that as an adult, people will react badly.
And yet here we are. People so weak, they can't just play a ten minute game they waited ten minutes for. The internet may have ruined humanity.

Just some things I want to clarify about the game.
@Aven_Fallen said:
You will not really encounter "Bully-SWFs". Nowadays everything is classified as "bullying", even playing the game normally. And people who claim to go against those "Bully-SWFs" on a constant basis are really exaggerating.
You will be fine as Killer. But not every lost game was against a "Bully-SWF".
I play late at night specifically to find the bully squads, they're pretty much shut down because of flashlights being killswitched, but they very much exist otherwise. No one is seeing them on a constant basis, they're weaker than ever before, but they exist. Try a few trials in the wee hours once flashlights are back.
When a team brings two purple trees, two purple coins, they're hoping to do some bullying. Saw that multiple times since the ks. You think they were hoping for some toolboxes to get the gens done faster?
But I like that. It's just a game. Even though I don't like toxicity at all, sometimes a few a-holes make it that much more fun.

Bots are silly. Devs kept them at the noobiest setting to assure Killers their 4K potential, and be pretty much useless to Survivors.
It’s fun chasing them around at 1/2 speed for a while to see what routes they take, how many pallets they drop, how many worthless tiles on the outskirts of the map they’ll try n loop you on.
They have such a weird range setting beyond the terror radius; They’ll just run away from an objective for no reason when everything’s calm and peaceful, as tho they’re being chased.
It’s hysterical… they’re like cartoons the Devs drew into matches to provide comic relief.
I think of them as little dogs running around entertaining themselves… I wanna play with them n see what they’ll do, but not hurt them or hook em or anything. idk, it’s a strange situation 😄
I like to kill the bots because I feel like any points they get are being wasted, and I prefer they go to the humans that will spend and enjoy them.
They don't play like noobs, I don't think. They play a style that was common years ago, see the killer, run to the infinite loop, loop until killer gets bored. Repeat until game ends. Loops aren't infinite anymore, so it doesn't work, but that's the style they seem to be emulating.
It was also a very "I don't give a sh*t about other survivors or accomplishing anything" type of playstyle, which supports my theory. Survivors will play hard to save a bot, the bot does not return the favor.
-
If a survivor is on a hook, a survivor owes it to the other to unhook. It's a fundamental part of the game.

I think I will enjoy Xeno despite the nerf. I find the tunnels extremely satisfying to use.
Same for me, the real power is patrolling gens really quick while undetectable, and popping out when I detect footsteps or hear crying.
The tail is cool, but it doesn't win me any trials. I'm way more effective upright.

Comp gaming is why dbd is in such an unfun state
You don't have to let the other team decide. I'm a killer, I only play killer, I have fun every match. I try to give the survivors what they want, kinda. They're new, I play just hard enough to let them think they barely made it. High-skilled specialists, I give 'em a run for their money to the best of my ability. Bullies, I bully 'em back.
But it's my choice to let them choose. I'm pretty casual, I just like chasing and hitting people with stuff. I'm at the point where I'm just unlocking all perks for all the killers. My win condition is how much I prove I can control the map. I like to get 8 hooks before I even decide. That's me showing off. I'm so good at getting you, I can do it in a specific order and then toy with you like a killer in a movie. (Also hook you up with a bunch of points, I'm not griefing when I slug, I'm showing you that your method of evading me still isn't working, but I'm letting you stay in the match so I can hit you more.) The more I slug ya, the more I like ya, I won't let you bleed out.
The point is, that's how I like to play. If I want to play to win, I do. If I want to play without a care in the world, I do. I do not care about the trials. I've played a lot.
I've did my best and failed completely more times than most players will ever play. Didn't hurt me a bit, made me play better. Survivor gets a good one on me, I'm laughing as hard as they are.
Just play and have fun, the ranks reset every month, nobody is keeping track, nobody cares. Killer plays too hard, so what? Play and die, it shouldn't take long. Survivors slam gens? So? Killer doesn't even die. The survivors ain't going anywhere, kill them next time.
Just a scrimmage, every trial. Nothing matters but you having some fun in this game you have. The game is exciting, that's drama, that's the appeal. It's PRETEND drama, though, be mad in the game, but not in real life.
C'mon y'all, let's play some DBD and murder/escape just for the fun of it.

The Dredge.
I started playing for Leatherface and loved the game because of the movie tie-ins. Never that interested in original killers until Dredge. Played them a lot, for fun, but I was here to play horror movie.
Love his power, love his looks, love the idea of the "monster that might be in your closet". I'm drawn to characters that are grim and mature, but Dredge makes me think back to being a kid, seeing a shadow outside and being sure it was a monster. It's so simple, innocent and primal.
Also Dredge is scary, powerful and fun. Also kinda gross, bonus.
Until Dredge, I was here to play killers I was a fan of, but now I'm a fan of an in-house creation, opened my eyes to the others. Thanks to Dredge, I'm now a fan of DBD's Lore. We actually need a little more Dredge lore, btw.

-
Might be Dredge, since no Dredge at all.
-
I like Pig with Amanda's letter, then I go with STBFL and Rapid Brutality to win chases. It takes most your traps away, but when crouching you can see nearby auras.
Booping the Snoot is when a survivor wants to poke your nose. There's no real rules to it, you can allow it then go back to a normal game, or just go friendly. I have a hard time murdering players once I made them happy by giving in on something, so it often costs me the trial.
Killers/survivors sometimes put aside their differences and game objectives for some funny interaction, killers with animal-like features really bring it out in survivors, especially if you're giving them some breathing room. They figure, "she's not sweating us when we unhook or remove traps, might let us Boop." Demo is another popular one. I even get it as Dredge with Maurice's head.
But it's just fun.
I like to kick people out of the basement with Bubba. Catch 'em in the basement, down 'em, toss them out. Just cracks me up to do it. Fun is fun.
My advice, have fun, Pig.

Oh no, I only "sweat" on Killer. Me sweating on Survivor might get me to, eh, average levels of skill? I just haven't put much time into the role, comparatively so I'm not very good at it.
You taking it easy on Survivors shows that your highest value isn't winning, it's having a fun and chill match. That is fine, better than fine even. I'd go so far as to say that's what we should all strive to do, but, that doesn't mean that my point isn't still valid for killers who ARE trying to win.
That was a very nice thing to say. I have a good attitude and like to lecture about it, so it's nice to hear. Thanks!
I guess I did mostly misunderstand the situation, though. That happens. Still, by playing hard, the MMR should be throwing you up against the same. I dunno, though.
See you in the fog, my friend.
-
Every player that hasn't watched a video about how survivor hitboxes work really should do so. Your common sense is telling you it should be where your body it, but it's sometimes not.
Your hitbox is straight up even when you're bent forward. If a killer hits where your upper torso is, they'll miss because the hitbox is behind you. That's where the killer has to hit, where your torso would be if you were upright.
That's just how the game works, maybe some time it will get a little more advanced, but as it is, hits have to be aimed at hitboxes and both sides just have to get used to where they are.
-
@Pulsar said:
The fact of the matter is that there will almost always be a weak link.
It doesn't matter if it's not you, it doesn't even matter if the Killer identifies it and tunnels them out. If someone is cleansing a bunch of totems and opening chests whilst you or someone else is doing an optimal play, the Killer will still win if they aren't terrible.
If they do tunnel them out and force a 3v1 as many Killers like to do, good luck, since the game isn't balanced around that.
Basically, you can play perfectly and still lose for multiple games in a row.
There's always a weak link, though. Good or bad players, some will be better than others. You're saying there'll always be a bad one, but not always. I pay attention and I often see a teams blend and play well. That's how you meet your fourth swf.
Calling me terrible hurts my feelings, but survivors don't have to play a perfect game against me to get out. I'm reclined in an easy chair, too lazy to put my headphones on, playing on a controller. One mistake won't cost you a game against me, it'll take 3 mistakes or a team all making mistakes together to cost you the game.
Any survivor that's able to evade will do fine against me. I'm not wearing my headphones so I'm guessing a lot.
You're a self-confessed sweatlord, you play hard, making killers play harder, then you assume every trial is like that. I'll try harder, I don't want you to be disappointed or bored, but that doesn't mean I'm going hard in every trial. I play the team I'm against. You bring a challenge to the killer, you're not seeing average games because you're ramping them up a little. Some of them play like that all the time, but some are just sweating against you.
-
Am I finally senile? I think I see prestige levels in lobbies.
Either way, a P100 has played quite a bit, but that doesn't mean they're super-good, or that they're going to mess over their team, often they're super-bold so they just die first.
I have more than 125 prestige levels scattered around, I'm pretty good, but none of you should be dodging me. I like unlocking perks, so I end up prestiging killers I don't even play. Most my levels are because of the millions I pumped into the bloodwebs just unlocking perks in the old system. Now I'm prestige 8 and 10 even on Nurse and Huntress, who I never play and really suck with.
Now any character you like playing will have a growing prestige because players have to buy webs for fresh addons. That's me with Bubba. I main Dredge now, but I like certain addons with Bubba that keep his P going up for just that reason. I'm not going to get way better with him, I played him for years and now I'm all about the Dredge. The number will go up, though.
You can get a whole lot of points in this game without winning, even without almost winning. Playing against differing levels of player is a good thing. If the MMR sticks you there, maybe it's right. If it's wrong, blame it. You got points and maybe learned something new.

I wouldn't care if it happened once in a blue moon. But lately, there has been an uptick in this tactic, and it gets stale very quickly. The queues for playing the game have been longer than usual so if games go likes this as well. It's just a waste of time in general.
I'm sorry to hear that. That's not cool and I will crap on that kind of behavior every chance I get. I enjoy a little in-game vendetta with an aggressive survivor, but there's no reason either of us should be mean-spirited about anything in a game. Childish.
