  • Okay but why though?

That's all I'm trying to figure out here.

Because someones sexuality is still a big huge part of them as a person??? According to your logic unless you play EVERY character whose in a minority group you're a bigot lol. I'd understand if this was like an ability based game but the survivors are literally just skins, you pick who you want and most people want someone who is the most like them a character who is attracted to women isn't like me at all its part of a reason I never play male characters like it isn't that hard of an idea to understand

I never mentioned bigotry though, not once. I just said I don't understand the logic and that perhaps our brains just don't see things the same way

You said you like characters based on traits besides their orientation, but then said if their orientation was revealed to be different it'd be an issue for you and I don't understand it.

I am playing Kate time to time and i bought all of her skins. If they change her to be lesbian, yeah i will leave her. I like her as straight woman. I won't mind if they add more LGBT+ characters and i will support that. But i won't play with any of them honestly.

I don't hate LGBT+ community or i am not saying they should not be in game. But i won't play with any of LGBT+ characters since i am not part of it.

You don't have to be a member of a community to appreciate a fictional character though? I like David King as a character because he's a British football hooligan who likes a fight and fits the "jerk with a heart of gold" archetype. Him being gay doesn't change anything about that to me

That being said, I'm not implying everyone has to see things the way I do - that's why I'm asking and trying to understand people's rationale about this because I just don't get it.

  • @HamsterEnjoyer said:

It would actually. I wouldn't want to play them anymore and I'm saying this as a trans woman. I have absolutely no attraction to women so playing a character who does just doesn't suit me it takes away a lot of relatability because attraction is a pretty big part about someones life

Perhaps it's just a difference in how our brains work because I don't understand it

You say you like these characters for reasons xyz that have nothing to do with their sexuality at all

Then you say if their sexuality was somehow different, that completely negates it all and you'd not be able to play them anymore

I can't wrap my head around it.

  • @HamsterEnjoyer said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3420178#Comment_3420178

Yeah actually lol. Most people only play survivors they can identify or relate with

I play Feng cause we have similar aesthetics and shes Chinese

I play Kate because she has curly hair like me and a beautiful aesthetic

I play Yun-Jin because again has an aesthetic I can relate too and works in an industry I enjoy

Just because you can relate or identify with a character doesn't mean you're identical to that character to a T but when a major part of someone's character is changed then it's harder to identify with them like you did before.

So you like Feng, Kate and Yun-Jin for the reasons you described, right?

So if it turns out one of those characters is lesbian, it wouldn't change the reasons you like them in the first place right? Or would it?

I find it odd because nothing about David's actual personality was changed, so I don't get why people would treat it like a bigger deal than it is.

  • Oh, I thought they were gonna say people would worry they were British.

Okay no but really, if that is the reason that's pathetic. His orientation changes nothing, it's just one part of his character. What's the big deal?

I play Yoichi, I'm not asian nor am I a marine biologist and I'm not particularly worried if people assume I am LOL.

  • It's all shallow demographic pandering for money, that's all I see it as when it comes to this fanservice stuff.

The signs are all there but people don't care because spend money consume product satisfy brain

Keep in mind a lot of the playerbase will complain about the game to the point of saying they are boycotting it then some feng min skin releases and they go an instabuy it lmao.

  • @DBD78 said:

Very few identify themselves with David now. I'm not playing David again for example and I used to play all survivors.

    Why not

Whats she can do that the Knight cant do better?

Yet Knight much more beloved lol.

Knight has an objectively better written lore, his design appeals to more people and his power has more personality to it with the guards

It's pretty telling when some people are claiming to be "good" SMs but they have to avoid playing the way she's clearly intended to be played and have to use purple addons 24/7 for their playstyle

That's why people like Knight more

  • Sloppy hasn't changed though

It's self healing being nerfed that's changed

Sloppy is fine. Either run healing perks to mitigate it, or bring aura perks to find your teammates to get healed.

  • Lithe can sometimes make or break a chase, it's really good at turning a chase in an unsafe place into one that lasts forever

Sprint Burst is whatever since most people don't really know how to use it to its full potential, most common thing I see is people just SBing away from gens which sure gives them a headstart but it doesn't help them actually win the chase necessarily

The people who know how to actually use SB though, those people are kinda scary.

  • It's not Skull Merchant or Knight so

    Not complaining

At least Wesker has to actually chase survivors and use his power well to win

? Their point is valid, they are just flooding every map with random garbage for no real reason. Red forest is laughable.

The fact they added so many trees makes me think they did it because of Nurse/Blight

I have no evidence for this claim it's just a conspiracy theory

  • Maybe you got backfilled into a lobby from a killer with much higher MMR who dodged since that also is a big cause of killer/surv skill disparity.

  • @SeaFlower said:

I can’t believe a top 1% or better player playing a game that has to match him with average randos because there’s not enough players of his own level manages to win every game.

For the record, this streak has been going on for over a year, a lot of it was done with old Eruption, he’s consistently tunneled someone out from 5 gens remaining every single game, and a lot of games had survivors just quit or give up early.

This is also why I don't really care about this

Like I'm not denying it's an accomplishment but this wasn't 1k wins vs good players back to back, it was 1k wins vs the slot matchine that is DBD's matchmaking. By the laws of probability there was def a lot of good players in there, a lot of good swfs and so on but I imagine most of the games were your typical dbd player

It's also funny to me how SBMM as a concept is widely hated not just in DBD but across a lot of multiplayer games, yet it's always being used. My belief is SBMM exists both to try and create fairer matchups but also to keep players addicted - sometimes they'll win, feel great and then lose a bunch so they keep trying to 'chase the high' for lack of a better description

  • @Piruluk said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3411137#Comment_3411137

Do you think its balanced that a player can win 1000+ games in a row at the highest level?

Why cant we see 1000+ win streak SWF? Hell I cant even see 100+ win in a row for survivors (at least 3 people escape)

Okay but why does it matter, everyone already knew the key to winning consistently on either side is to invest time into learning and to play as hard as possible

it doesn't change the fact that If you boot up the game right now and play, you'll win games you'll lose games. This dude winning 1k games in a row means nothing

  • Personally I don't understand why people even care

My reaction essentially boiled down to, huh that's quite an accomplishment. Neat. Then I moved on

I don't get why content creators care, I don't get why the twitter mob cares. This does not affect you at all, you can still just play the game and ignore it.

I get that some people have taken this as a sign that 'oh blight is too strong, his addons are too strong' or 'no tunnelling and camping is too strong' like even if any of those are true, so what? BHVR has clearly shown they make changes to whatever they like whenever they feel like so crying about some dude winning a bunch of matches in a row isn't going to change that

  • You're right

Expect the worst and assume everything will be awful, that way you can never be disappointed but you can be pleasantly surprised

I'm sounding more and more like an old man with each passing day

  • Completely rework power from scratch

Tweak visual design and base lore, It can certainly be salvaged with some effort. As much as i'd prefer a completely different character that will never ever happen because BHVR would never admit to a chapter being a failure

Plus there's people who actually like the current SM, for reasons that I might disagree with but it's a subjective opinion

I'd also say stop with the cringe "fanservice" but that's not happening either, I expect it to get even worse

  • Simple logic

Strong Pallets can be permanently broken

Windows can be abused all game for a minimum of 3 times per survivor before they are forced to move on

  • @[Deleted User] said:

If i remember correctly CoB have a 60 sec CD. and then it cant be constantly be re-applied.

    That's incorrect

COB has no cooldown, it is active on a gen for 60 seconds but if regression is interrupted and it's rekicked the 60s timer resets. Every generator you kick will have 60s of COB regression unless it's interrupted by a survivor

  • Does Sloppy Butcher count as a pig avatar?

  • Not much has changed for me, my go to perks include a mixture of:

Sprint Burst, Renewal, We'll Make it, Kindred, Reassurance, Iron Will + Lucky break [always together], Adrenaline and I've been experimenting a bit with Friendly Competition - not sure about it right now.

  • it's not that deep

someone making a rant thread on the dbd forums to blow off some steam isn't that big of a deal lol

What does Nurse have to do with this thread?

Its simple math, you dont need to fix the drones to repair, and if you wanna know where the killer is, run fogwise or comminicate with your team if you are a swf.

    Also, run with potential energy.

Sounds like your build is way off to the playstyle you are having.

    "It's simple math"

Fella we all know how long it takes to repair a generator/how much is lost on a kick

It doesn't change the fact that slogging through SM matches is a boring chore, you could be the best survivor in the whole world who never makes mistakes and it would still be a boring chore win or lose

Also @edgarpoop is completely right, I'm sick of this notion that to counter Slog Merchant we need to run 3 gen builds every game just in the off chance.

  • Skull Merchant

I'll take literally any other killer, even Twins.

  • 80% of the times I've lost to a SM is because either my team got bored or I got bored and stopped trying because it sinks into my brain that I could've played like two matches in the time it's taken to try and win this one and I'm not invested in winning because honestly what's the point you don't get anything for winning in this game

honestly though SM must read some boring mangas if the heroes in her comics did nothing but patrol generators and murder people who actually want to be killed LOL

  • You know I had this exact same thought process today

I now genuinely believe Skull Merchant is the worst killer in the game. Not in terms of strength, but in power design

People complain about Legion and mending simulator but a Legion is 100000x more engaging to go against than a SM

  • Bamboozle

Not because it's particularly strong but because it's makes some killers turn their brains off. Don't think it should be changed though, it's got counterplay and if you're good enough you can easily outlast the block timer

From a Killer POV I also think it's a bit of a crutch, in that if you become reliant on it you won't learn how to play around strong windows without it and will miss out on that experience.

I do understand that many people use it to offset a certain weakness of a killer, namely the chainsaw lads as windows are their hard counter and I think that's extremely fair, I don't think there's fault in that.

I've finally versed a few DH, both with my weaker and my best killers. I'm not completely used to it yet but I can tell this is not the abomination it used to be anymore. It will not force every player to "handle" it or try to provoke it for every single chase, not knowing if it's in play or not.

    @Thusly_Boned said:

While I think this is true to an extent, I don't think we'll see it rebound the very top like we saw after it dipped following the 6.1.0 nerf. This one is worse.

If I'm wrong and it does, the next nerf might be fatal.

It's more so that some people are deadset in their beliefs that "dead hard shouldn't exist" so when it finds its place whether it's still meta or niche, I think people are still going to complain about it once people get a handle on how it fits into their playstyle

Granted, the most annoying part about it for the Killer side has been addressed (not knowing it's there and having to wait), but a new problem will arise, most likely killers having a decent early game and then losing it because of extended chases by swinging into people's dead hards they got earlier or people saving their DHs until absolutely necessary which I imagine will make killers feel even more robbed.

I swear people are still going to complain no matter what. Dead Hard is probably the closest thing the role has to a Nurse equivalent in terms of complaints.

Non stop complaining until it's completely gone.

  • Give it a month

You're still gonna see DH, and people are still gonna complain about it

Some people won't be satisfied until the perk is ACTUALLY useless, even the original PTB version was still sort of useful

  • If it does, it's a bug

The devs have said on multiple seperate occasions that if a generator is blocked, it does not lose progress.

  • Say it together everyone

Gens that are blocked do not lose progress but can still be set to regress when unblocked

...Not catchy enough but I'll work on it

  • The DBD Twitter shouldn't be responding to people who are being blatantly negative for twitter attention with passive aggression

Wait so does it increase the time you have or decrease? because it sounds like it decreases?

when his power runs out he's essentially slowed down for a second or two before returning to normal

cooldown addons reduce the time, making you return to normal quicker

David Kings tome story (and and the tweet) came out in April 22, so your statement is not true at all

    Hence why i said 'Probably'

The logic being the pride charms released in June, and that's when BHVR does their pride themed events (livestreams and such) so maybe they might release content that is related to it in the same month because BHVR likes to release thematic content at the same time usually

I never said it was objectively true lol

  • We'll probably find out in June

Seems to be when BHVR prefers to mention the topic/make announcements about it

  • @Chadku said:

Deadlock only blocks the gen with the most progress.

Dead Man Switch & Thrilling Tremors block multiple gens

Nah Deadlock can block 2 gens at once

Let's say 3 diff survivors have a gen at 99, surv 1 finishes his gen, surv 2 has their gen blocked and surv 3 finishes another

Surv 3 finishing a gen will cause deadlock to trigger again, even though gen #2 is still bloocked

  • Average Skull Merchant match lasts about 45 to 50 minutes so the people who play her are constantly in the same game

    I wonder why that is

  • The only way I'd see them nerfing deadlock is by making it only proc on 1 gen at a time, right now it can block multiple at one time

Hopefully not though, I think it's pretty balanced considering it's a give and take perk. You need to lose a gen to block a gen.

  • It is an additional 6% on top of the 10%

But I believe it is ONLY while the hex is active

So if it's cleansed, it goes back to 10%.

  • Yeah @GoodBoyKaru It's a UK wide thing at the moment

Just our ISPs being the best in the world

  • Also another small thing

If you put the channel name in the search bar correctly then click "go to" - it'll take you directly to the channel URL.

So yeah, you can also tell people to do it that way as well!

  • Hello!

So yeah I searched it and it doesn't come up, however if I went directly to it via URL it worked fine

Is your channel new? That might have something to do with it not coming up in searches right away, since I would imagine it takes some time for it to start appearing.

My friend, I don't think you're really understanding what I'm saying.

There's a clear communication issue here between us.

1.) This is a poll. It is about what we as individuals BELIEVE. I believe something based on what I know and understand, you believe something different based on what you know and understand. It is good to discuss our differences and see the other side of the table, but it is unbecoming to try and combat other viewpoints or discredit them wholesale. It seems like you have a particular disdain for even the mere suggestion that a chapter MAY have been handled a certain way. None of us here actually worked on the project, so none of us know with absolute certainty - but saying that because there is no concrete evidence that my opinions are somehow invalid or lesser than your own - which are equally as devoid of direct evidence - is no way to conduct one's self.

2.) I apologize if I miscommunicated, but it is not so simply a 'backing out' of any sort. To back out of a deal, things must be agreed on beforehand and interests must be 'in'. Time, effort, and budget can go towards a deal that never materializes. The music industry works much this way too - where artists create music for IPs that do not actually get accepted in the end, where film productions get the budget and power to pursue a particular vision only to be reallocated during pre-production due to their inability to secure a partnership. I really do want to emphasize to you that this is simply how the world works, it is a real and legitimate part of production where the business side must start a project and land it within a particular launch window... but must also be flexible with what that project may become. Especially after Stranger Things, it is a near impossibility that Behavior does not have generic assets lined up for partnerships that do not renew - or even may back up mid development. It's just a reality of business. If this is or is not what happened here is up for debate, it is entirely possible that this has never happened in Behavior at any point, but to treat it like some sort of conspiracy theory is absurd.

3.) You're trying to explain to me that products do not have set release dates or launch windows on the business side because... they were working on the Knight long before his release? This is not evidence in the least. If I leave my house an hour early to get to work on time, being on the road half an hour before my shift is not evidence that I don't have a set time to arrive at work. it takes a lot of effort to create these chapters and a lot of elements have to align properly. They did not start work on the Knight halfway through 2022, that would have been insane.

4.) You ask "Why wouldn't they just WAIT for the next opportunity to make it a predator IP?" - It's because that's no way to run a business? Why shelf a product that's ready to ship? If Q1 is fast approaching, which project are you going to focus on - the one that's almost done, or one that needs several months of crunch to get to where it needs to be? I really don't understand what the point of this line of thought is - as if Behavior just comes up with these projects one after another and crunches them out in a number of weeks. As the interview says for itself - They'll tweak and make changes to give the chapter an identity of its own and preserve many of the initial ideas for next time - but they're not going to do things like scrap prototypes or start anew with everything from the ground up. If the contention is that "If the Predator IP fell through, why don't they just change everything and then wait for the next opportunity to do things 'right'?" - then we're both agreeing indirectly at that point.

5.) "I don't see why people are so attached to-" My brother in Christ join me as we look in the mirror. We are here expressing our lines of thought and you seem to be convinced that in sharing what you believe, that everyone else should simply bow to the self-appointed superiority of your opinion. There are a lot of business and production reasons why it is POSSIBLE for this to have been a Predator IP at some point... and the overwhelming quantity of overlap between this half-baked chapter and the Predator IP is convincing in and of itself. Is it true or false? None of us can tell for certain because we were not there during development. Some will think that there's a good chance of it, others will think it improbable at best. But suggesting that one side is completely unrealistic or illogical and emphasizing that you alone might be correct - that others simply 'cling to it' in some lowly way while you stand by your own ideals - it is the definition of inflexibility and hypocrisy. You are better than this.

6.) I appreciate the video and link. But as others have pointed out, Mathieu Cote is a professional having to steer this ship. Not only is it in his best interest to bend the truth, but as someone who has worked with a customer facing management position - at times your lips are going to be sealed from corporate or legal obligation. You're interviewing a guy who's entire livelihood and career is tied up in a lot of Professional Agreements and NDAs. While I don't think anyone would assume that a misspoken word would cost him his job, I believe we can all agree that Cote is a seasoned professional that likely knows better than to land himself in hot water with saying too much in an interview. Your video is a wonderful addition - but it is sadly made irrelevant for three primary reasons:

    • This is a slightly heated topic and no professional would come out in an interview and sell out their partners or disclose confidential business agreements with third parties. Not only would it be unprofessional and against their best interests, but they have no obligation to do so.
    • In this interview, Mathieu himself was deliberate in talking about powers and the identities of each character through gameplay. "bespoke" as he called it - which is not what is in question. The contention is that during pre-production at some point this may have been aimed towards being a Predator IP, not if the power itself was 100% going to belong to The Predator. Cote indicates that they have a veritable toybox of powers to use, so why burn the perfect IP power on an original when they can swap out the power with one less fitting from the toybox? This is a good point against the prospective Predator IP intending to have drones (Which don't fit perfectly) but that was never the point. The point was "Maybe they wanted it to become a Predator IP and Behavior just took the guts of what they were doing and made it this drone lady instead?" Which is not at all disproven by his statement. He clearly says that licensing is sometimes a "hard pass" from the holders, and that instead of using the perfect power for those potential Killers, they use a different one (however so) that they had on paper. This has nothing to do with the potential pre-production of the chapter.
    • This interview was in October 2021. It has nothing to do with the Tools of Torment expansion. It might be relevant if they were speaking specifically about this project, but they were not speaking of it nor about anything relevant to the discussion.

7.) Finally, my friend. I think I have gone on enough. I respect your opinions and points of view. You are clearly an intelligent and reasonable individual. You are not doing yourself any favors by speaking as though your perspective is more valuable or reasonable than others; using the words that you have is telling and unbecoming. I hope that you respect the convictions and perspectives of others instead of trying to explain to them why their thoughts are wrong and not being particularly convincing at any rate.

Have a good day, see you in the fog.

Reminder I wasn't the one who started the discussion, I posted my opinion on the thread last month and left it at that so don't act like it was me coming into the thread trying to explain to people why they are wrong when I was simply replying to people who quoted me to begin with.

Nowhere did I say my opinion was better or worse then anyone elses, I just said all the "evidence" that people are choosing to believe is completely circumstancial and inconclusive. Nobody has any actual proof that this is what happened as I keep saying. I still don't understand why people choose to believe it when there's little to back it up.

Of course, you can believe whatever you want, doesn't bother me - but when asked for proof, if you can't provide any then the opinion can't exactly hold up to scrutiny. I respect other people's right to hold opinions, but that doesn't mean I won't dispute when they're saying something that (imo) has many flaws with it. That's just how it goes, if you find that disrespectful then I'm afraid there's nothing more for me to say on that.

As for the video, you can't just brush it off as "he's lying and he's not talking about Tools of Torment so it's irrelevant". He was straight up asked plain and simple "Does BHVR reuse licensed chapters that didn't go through" And he said "No.". Whether you believe it or not is up to you but it's far more believable and logical that it's the truth of the matter.

Also "BHVR wasn't working on the Knight in early 2022", I can't post the proof to the contrary because I'll get in trouble but go do your own research. You will find evidence dating back to April of 2022. It's true and it happened.

End of the day though, it doesn't matter. Failed predator or not, The Chapter is a flop with little redeeming qualities in the eyes of most people.

    No worries!

I mean he def had to watch what he was saying because if he says the wrong thing I imagine he'd get in trouble lmao

    Time will tell

  • My personal definition of what a "Bully Squad" is boils down to it being a group of survivors who don't care about doing the objective; all they want to do is annoy the killer as much as possible by any means necessary.

An example would be something like a 4 man swf, burning badham and burning an offering that puts the basement in the shack so they can abuse the lack of hooks in the boiler room area with perks like Boil Over, Flip Flop and so on. Or when people used to abuse the RPD library.

Stuff like that is what I consider 'bully squadding'. It's where you go into the match, not intending to play well and win but to annoy the killer as much as possible while also not really intending to win the match either.

And you believe what this guy says is correct? Hell, even accurate? I see him as a PR man, saying what needs to be said when he has too. Might be a hard take. But his expressions and body language to some questions are so telling to me.

Do you have any proof that what he said was a lie?

I'll believe the words of somebody who not only works for BHVR but is the main person who helps get licenses into the game in the first place over claims with no proof at all to back them up

using that logic then the creeper from jeepers creepers is fair game?

    That's not the same logic

The monster from Jeepers Creepers isn't the issue, the issue is the person who created him is. Freddy is a fictional character and doesn't get money for being in the game whereas the monster from that series of films likely would.

Even if he didn't, BHVR would never want to associate with a franchise that was created by someone like him.

To compare a fictional character's crimes to an actual irl person's crimes is a little disrespectful tbh
