"We added a built-in cheat. We think it's fine despite its rampant popularity and the myriads of complaints. Give us your money."
Community Manager - 2023
Fella if Made for This proves anything it's that survivors being 3% faster doesn't make playing Killer completely unplayable. It's not comparable to cheats at all. People always say man I'm sure cheaters had extra movement speed and in some cases they did but it was more than 3%. Way more.
Is the perk annoying? Sure. Do survivors moving at 110% in the endgame make the game kinda unplayable? Sure I can agree with that.
There's no need to be disingenious, it's not Mandy's job to decide if made for this is balanced or not lol. Go fill out the survey or something and tell them you think this perk is xyz
-
Anti camping feature
A few perk buffs, maybe a nerf or two
some Skull Merchant changes, I'm optimistic they'll address common complaints and give SM fans something they like
Blight will remain unchanged.
That's my prediction
-
What really confuses me is how quickly these addons got changes, despite there being no obvious balance implication to them whereas Made For This has obvious balance implications to anyone who knows about stuff like hope stacking or how most killers have to slow themselves down while charging their power and so on.
As much as the changes don't bother me, the nerfs aren't major - It does make me wonder why again they take the BIlly approach of making changes but not telling us why.
Why were these addons changed?
Too much use (I.E Marvins Blood, Engravings)? Discrepancies in matches where they are used vs not? Other addons not being used at all? If we were told, we wouldn't have to speculate.
-
I don't think it's an issue
You have addon versions of mangled/hemo for a couple of good reasons:
1) Your power is a special attack, so sloppy doesn't work
2) You get to free up a perk slot for other things
Gift of pain also applies the same effect.
-
Only goes on cooldown when you successfully sabo a hook (opens up more room for 'fake' sabo plays and so on)
Reduce cooldown to 40 seconds.
These two changes would make it a great perk but not too oppressive.
-
I've seen multiple people with the name "bring misu or xyz" basically saying do what we want or u dont get a normal game
entitled as hell
-
Hey Mandy, nice to see you on the forums again - It's felt like forever since we've seen you around!
Survivor - It really depends? If I'm playing solo I just play for the chase or doing cool plays. I like to experiment with perks and see if I can pull off really dumb plays. I guess if I had to boil it down, I enjoy chases the most but I also like pulling off plays you need certain perks to do. A favourite one is running lucky break iron will and losing the killer mid chase
With friends, it's basically the same but sometimes I have to change up how I play depending on how our matches are going. If we're having tough matches back to back I try to help out by bringing perks that help keep my team alive. (We'll make it, BT etc)
Overall - I just want 'normal' games without stuff like idk facecamping bubba, teammates DCing/Giving up immediately and so on.
Killer - I mostly play to improve with my favourite killers, test out perk combos and most importantly of all I really enjoy mindgames on the Killer side in particular. Stuff like red stain tricks, sadako manifestation mindgames and other similar stuff.
My enjoyment as Killer suffers greatly when matches aren't a back and forth; when they become super one sided I find myself getting bored. Survivors DCing/Giving up immediately kills my motivation to play the match out because i personally feel like the win is invalidated. It's also super unfair for the survivors who stay, being stuck in a 3 v 1 early on.
I enjoy tough matches where I'm getting chases/hooks and survivors are doing gens and we're both a few good plays away from winning. That to me is what Killer is all about, the snatching victory from the jaws of defeat kinda deal.
I think that's about it!
-
Deserved
Not really much of a fan of the whole fanservice stuff but I like the goofy expressions and the humour of your comics/artwork so def deserving!
Keep it up
-
...What?
Putting people in deep wounds IS legion's power. It's not "exploiting" to use your power lol
I'm sorry but I don't think there's anything to complain about with regards to deep wounds. You mend if you're not being chased, if you're being chased deep wounds is only an issue if you use DH/Other things that give you endurance
your sugggestion would make Legion's stall/partial 4 v 1 nature useless and, likely as a result, would result in more tunnelling because his power would only be good for getting the first hit then committing to the chase.
I get that Legion is annoying and people don't like mending/not being able to heal etc but Legion is by far one of the most balanced killers in the game because unless you gift them all 5 hits or they're running the caffeine pills, they will ALWAYS need to down you with an m1.

Killers who are going for the 4k don't pick up though, so you have to hide for the whole duration of the slug.
Some killers will leave someone on the ground as bait to lure you into going for the pickup. I do it if I need the 4k for some particular reason.
Others will delay pickup until the bleedout timer is nearly over or just bleed them out if they are feeling particularly petty/don't care about the full sacrifice points

What's the counterplay to slug for the 4k for survivors that's basekit then? Hiding in lockers?
Either hiding until the killer picks up the survivor or they bleed out
I'm not saying I like it but it's true, many tome challenges, achievements and so on require a 4k so slugging for it is the only sure fire way to maximise your chances
-
It's the only counterplay to the rng of the hatch
-
Two things
I've def whiffed a lot more than I used to in this recent patch
But I've also had (and been on the receiving end of) really bizarre looking hits. Like this one time as Myers, I tapped m1 to swing at a survivor and on my screen, the knife didn't actually hit them but for some reason the game gave me the hit.
Could it be placebo or is something genuinely off with this stuff right now?
-
Doctor isn't unplayable necessarily but as quite an experienced doc player, I have noticed the perks effects though but again imo it's not unplayable.
I brought this topic up on another Made for this topic, but consider this:
The majority of killers in the game are balanced in such a way that using or preparing to use their power intentionally causes them to slow down for a time. Normally, this is balanced with regular survivor movement speed in mind.
To better explain:
When huntress is holding a hatchet, she slows herself down to 77% or 3.08 M/S. Survivors by default are faster than this, however if that survivor also has a haste status effect, the killer loses even more distance because of this slowdown. The case of huntress isn't as bad due to the nature of her power being a ranged projectile that does straight up damage but many many killers don't have this.
Another more fitting example - Dredge. Whilst Dredge has his remnant out, he slows himself down to 3.68 M/S or roughly 92%. This makes a normal survivor only 8% faster than him in this state. Now throw in made for this and the survivor is now 11% faster.
Haste amplifies the imposed slowdowns for many killers using their powers, all for the simple cost of being injured and not exhausted. It does seem a little too much even though personally, I think the perk might be okay as long as the haste is disabled in the endgame or haste stacking is addressed in some way.
-
A lot of people might not realise the implications of haste for a lot of killers
Many killers intentionally slow themselves down while preparing or using their powers, so haste status effects on the survivor make these slowdowns even more harmful for the killers distance in chase and allows them to make much more distance. It's sorta like how Clown can amplify his purple bottles by hitting himself with a yellow.
-
The only change I strongly feel is appropriate is making the haste part of the perk inactive once all generators are completed
i'm already seeing clips of killers being ran around loops and gaining basically 0 distance because of this combo. We already have a really strong endgame haste perk, I don't see why we need two.
-
Personally I kind of agree with them clashing with the atmosphere and tone of the game. DBD Mobile clearly has a different vision for the game in mind.
However
BHVR has seemingly stopped caring about that as of late anyway (A lot of their cosmetic choices, recent killer designs and constant fanservice) so either way, I don't really care at this point.

I think the idea was to make BBQ less of an objectively superior choice for Killers
It was a perk that not only gave you solid information on 80% of the roster, it also doubled your BP which was very crucial because the grind was really bad before all the changes. That and the added matchmaking incentive (as well as constant events) are what has substituted the BP bonus from BBQ and WGLF
Now, BBQ is just what it is - a very solid aura reading perk but it's not the OBJECTIVELY best one to pick anymore. Like yeah, you could run floods of rage or gearhead but those perks didn't double your BP so why would you bother?
-
Yeah
This has been a bug since they updated the attempting to unhook yourself animations and I'm p sure it's been reported/talked about several times but since it's so rare nothing has really been done to remedy it
It may have something to do with latency or server validation, as sometimes I've managed to unhook somebody even when the UI shows that their bar was fully depleted (the little animation where it disappears).
-
I try to get use out of it when traversing the map or if I need to reload with one bottle left; might as well get something out of it. The problem with using the antidote in chase is having to wait for it, but if you're good you can combo it with purple bottles to great effect
The other issue is the antidote does nothing if the survivor is willing to just instantly drop pallets, which against Clown they will because that's his kyptonite.
-
tbh BHVR should do a charity case 2
It's such a neat idea
-
Use Renewal and (optionally) combo it with We'll make it to get it active asap.
Heal your teammates super fast and get automatically healed after being unhooked.
It's my go-to.
-
Blood Rush curse
When you bring this perk, you either escape without being hooked once or you're tunnelled out from minute 1

Honest advice from someone who loves this game to death:
Detach from the "community".
Turn off steam comments/make it friends only.
Stick with interacting with DBD players you actually know are good people and can be civil.
Ignore the endgame chat, it's the gg wp box or nothing at all. (Of course, engaging with people being positive isn't an issue)
ignore dbd twitter, it's the worst place DBD related. Worse than reddit, worse than the steam forums. I say without a hint of hyperbole these forums are 10000x more worth your time than DBD twitter is.
Finally, just assume any killer or survivor behaving a certain way just wants to win.
This isn't making excuses, there are some genuinely ridiculous in game behaviours people do that have nothing to do with winning, but the majority of what people complain about (gen rush, camp, tunnel, slug etc) can be boiled down to "this person made a play i dont like".
Block out all the noise and just try to enjoy the video game. That's all DBD is at the end of the day. A stupid video game
-
This is honestly heartbreaking.
My thoughts go out to Puppers as well as his close family and friends, I seriously cannot imagine how much pain they've had to endure over the past few years.

Does it count if a Bubba doesn't get any downs and four escape?
Yeah legit was about to ask the same thing
A bubba cannot facecamp someone if he can't catch anyone, I've had this happen once or twice
Making it to endgame and seeing their full camp loadout and getting flamed in the EGC is the cherry on top.

The person who announced the Twins rework (Patrick) no longer works for BHVR, so I imagine it got probably shelved in favour of general game balancing instead

Yea. Once again. I dont care. Because other characters like feng(who barely has lore and is a stale character) is treated like a token character anyways because they are exploiting her cuteness to get more money. She's literally getting spoon fed with cosmetics while others get crumbs.
Well yeah it's basic supply and demand I would imagine
Feng skins sell the most ----> Keep making more feng skins ----> People keep buying them ----> Repeat step 2
The only way to get them to stop making feng skins, is for the people who buy them to stop - but they won't and you can't make them lmao
-
Adam's always have deliverance and if you catch them first/don't let them unhook safely there's a small chance they will auto DC on the spot
I know Deli is an Adam teachable but it's really funny that most Adam's I come across have it equipped
-
I also noticed the "betas" tab is gone too
I don't have these extra UI features either, on Steam
Weird.
-
One time I got greedy for deliverance vs a nurse who was sweating really hard and I cost my team the whole game because of it as we all ended up slugged
Needless to say I learned my lesson, I basically never greed for deliverance unless I know for certain I can get an unhook off + I bring new BT on top of that
I've also lost a lot of Killer games because I get too complacent with my early game performance, I'll get three quick easy downs in a row and ease off then all the gens get done and I realise that I should've kept the pressure up.
Either that or I choke really hard in one specific chase. I've gotten better at breaking off chases that aren't going so well but in the past I've had winning positions turn into losses simply because I chased someone decent and they took me on a tour of all of the good parts of the map; costing me the game.
-
Caring about the other sides fun =/= Throwing games or making bad decisions
To me, if you care about your opponents fun you'll not go out of your way to do things that are clearly intended to BM or cause tilt like tbagging/clicking/w&sing/hitting on hook and so on.
As survivor, if you win, great - take your escape and go next. Don't drag it out by sitting in the gate tbagging/clicking and so on
As Killer If you win, great - take your win and go next. Don't drag it out by bleeding survivors out for 3 minutes while repeatedly pressing the w and s keys.
And of course don't make an ass of yourself in the endgame chat. I find a bit of banter is fine, it's not like taking the game too seriously is good for you anyway.
I'm sure a lot of survivor and killer players alike wouldn't care as much about losing if there wasn't this cringe "gloating" that goes on from their opponents. Sometimes it is really satisfying to get that really annoying survivor or make a killer trying to focus you out mad but just leave it in the game.

Right so, change her power and then everyone that uses skull merchant for her 3 genning ability will go back to the knight and we will be right back here. My answer will still be the same thing and everyone will go " NO JUST NERF THE KILLER REWORK". Everyone complains about "bandaid fixes" Well nerfing killers instead of fixing the underlying issue is just that a bandaid fix.
Atleast I put forth way to prevent her and every other current and future killer from having this same problem.
3 genning isn't the only problem people have with SM, it's just the most widely complained about one for sure.
I know it sucks to hear about, but it's nobodies fault but BHVRs for releasing two "objective defense" centered killers in a row, during the time when generator kicking perks were the strongest they likely ever will be.
On a completely personal preference note, I want a full rework because I think SM is one of the worst and most disappointing killer designs in the game and I think a brand new power would be way better than what we have now imho.
-
Blood Rush is the new Deliverance
And by that I mean it's a perk that when you bring it, the game will cosmically create situations where you simply can't use it. You either don't make it to death hook or you're tunnelled from your first hook and in both situations this perk will never go off
I just did the blood rush tome challenge by bringing inner strength and cleasing 2 totems lol

@RoastedGarlic said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3425253#Comment_3425253
No chase power? Her entire power is a chase power just because you haven't figured out how to use it in a chase yet doesn't mean it can't be used as one.
I use her drones at loops because of the ability to expose not only that with proper add-ons you get haste pair that with bamboozle and brutal strength she can just shut things down.
You can force people off of strong loops like this because they do not want to risk getting exposed. By me not placing the drones on gens and leaving them at loops where I know survivors will go I can force them into dead zones.
Again I don't use her drones on generators because she absolutely doesn't need it. Yes a lot of SM players do, but they're not real SM players they're trolls who will just move onto the next best thing to ruin your day.
to clarify, I am not a fan of 3 genning. I do not think it should exist at all. I think it is easy to fix by having 2 completed gens break down again so even though you only have 1 gen left they're is 4 or 5 gens to work with. This would effectively kill 3 genning. Now SM, Knight, infinite Myers etc can't 3 gen you.
and once again the biggest elephant that needs to be addressed is the distance between gens, you can have 4 gens on some maps all clustered together this needs to be changed. Gens shouldn't be within 10m of each other. There also shouldn't be 3 gens in a 25m radius.
No I know how to use it in chase, it's extremely simple. It doesn't take a degree in Skull Merchantry to figure that out
You put a drone on a tile and the survivor either leaves and takes a normal hit or stays and gets screwed.
This playstyle is rewarded even more if you exclusively run purple addons, but none of that changes the fact that there's no actual skill to the power. The skill comes from basic M1 killer fundementals, knowing how to play tiles, when you can and can't get a hit and so on.
Again, you might not use the power to protect gens and that's cool but her power is literally designed to be used that way. The tome challenges are proof that this is the intended way to play her by the devs.
As for "not real SM players" Not only is that implying that this "chase SM" is the only valid way to play her (it's not) but you're also implying that the people doing it are trolls? I would assume it's because it's the path of least resistance. It takes no skill and it's just easy. Why would anyone play this "chase SM" playstyle when you can just put drones on gens and play normal m1 killer and get basically the same results for less effort?
Changing gen spawns isn't gonna change the fact by design SM has an objective defense oriented power. Knight has the same thing, his guards are made to patrol gens and can even kick them/destroy pallets.

she isn't dull, however most of the people that use her don't know how to use her properly. When used right she is absolutely a blast to chase survivors with.
again she isn't the problem, 3 genning is. A lot of killers can do it, she just happens to be the best. To solve the problem you don't change every killer than can 3 gen. You change 3 genning. Work smarter not harder.
I get that it's a subjective thing, different tastes and I respect that, I just don't understand what's fun about playing SM.
Having played her for the adept and the recent tome challenges, I've come to the conclusion that she's boring to play no matter if you're winning or losing.
I don't see what there is to master, your power does everything for you.
It protects generators for you, it alerts you what gens are being worked on, it alerts you when people are countering your power, it shuts down basically any loop in the game forcing the survivor to leave. It gives you some stealth (For some reason????) and It speeds you up when survivors mess with your power, making chasing as an m1 killer a bit easier
To top it all off she doesn't even have a fun power to use in chase - moving slightly faster is not a fun and engaging power. It's a lazy bandaid fix.
It feels to me like some people are acting like SM is a lot more complicated and deeper than she really is. A power having lots of things and being needlessly complicated doesn't mean it takes a lot of skill or mastery to use.

Killers who can get reliable hits with their power, don't need STBFL. It's hardly an actual problem.
I disagree, I've seen many killers who have powers that can injure/down also using STBFL because of how strong it is and how trivial it makes camping hooks
Demogorgon, Pig, Nemesis, Slinger (Chain break), Pinhead (Iri fang only), Wesker and Knight are the killers I see this perk on the most since they have ways of injuring the obsession without m1ing. The others who I see using the perk are pure M1 killers who can't injure you in a chase without m1ing you.
I'm not saying it's a problem to the point that it needs to be changed asap, but I def think it undermines the balance and thematic aspects of the perk.
-
That was quick lol
-
Personally I think the main issue is being able to bypass the perk's downside with special attacks. As cool as the interaction is, all it does is lessen what little amount of counterplay the perk already has.
I think damaging the obsession by any means removing 2 stacks would be a much healthier solution. It'd mean that if the Obsession is being proactive and trying to counter the perk, they can't just be sidestepped
Something that is an issue but one I don't have a solution for is camping with STBFL, these days without STBFL if you're close to a hook and camping - you can force a trade almost every time if there's no other survivor to help. STBFL makes this even easier and I feel like it def rewards camping more than it does chasing, despite it being a chase oriented perk.
Or just reduce the amount of stacks you can get, idk about that though.

I'm taking issue with that being the reason that you'd drop her. If the model changed and she'd be ugly to you, sure. I might disagree, but that'd be the end of it. Attraction is attraction, and I can't nor want to change that for you.
Nobody is forcing you to play LGBTQ+ characters. I, nor anyone else, said anything of the sort. But avoiding them because of them being LGTBQ+ is... very, very questionable.
It feels as if people care more about the orientation or sexuality of a character instead of you know, their personality, style, backstory or literally anything else. Not passing judgement but I would hope people really aren't that shallow
Again though, people like what they like. I sorta get it now at least. Sorta.

For David part, i never loved him. Not before he come out as gay or later. Because he was just ugly for me. I like Leon, Steve, James more as male survivors.
But for your question, i like to play as Kate, Jill, Rebecca and Mikaela. Because they are attractive characters to me. I love to assume them as straight women. But ofcourse Mikaela and Kate did not confirmed. So if they change their identity , i won't find them attractive anymore because they are no longer straight. So most likely i won't play them anymore.
But i am also not playing most of survivors. Only few of them.

The only dude i play is steve but that’s because i like him in stranger things and because he gets his heart broken like me lmao
Communities full of people who simps for characters regardless of their canonical orientation, it's kinda why the thing confuses me.
But hey you have your reasoning and you are your own person so far be it from me to assume malice or anything like that. You like what you like that's just how it goes
Personally I play characters who I like the personalities of or ones I find to particularly cool. Their orientation doesn't really factor into it whatsoever. In the most blunt way - I just don't care. Cool characters are cool regardless of their orientation
Thanks for the responses.
