I'm not saying that this is exactly what happened, but you have to understand that this is how business works.

You're basically saying that no song has ever been repackaged due to a label fall-through, or that multi-billion dollar companies just burn money on scrapped projects.

District 9 is a movie. It exists. Do you know why it exists? Because they started working on a Halo movie and Microsoft didn't play ball. They started the ball rolling and got money, talent, and effort thrown in behind it - then it turned into a new project after the initial idea fell through.

I do appreciate your kind words in protest, but I really don't understand why even the POSSIBILITY is an impossibility for you to admit.

Given my experiences, as limited as they are, in the field of production - knowing how these things go through - it seems highly likely that at some point during development Tools Of Torment was aimed towards being a Predator tie-in.

And I honestly don't know why you're willing to accept that it can be possible everywhere else, but when it comes to BHVR being a professional company, you're saying that "There's no way in hell" ???

I don't believe it because the only 'evidence' there is, is extremely circumstancial.

I also don't believe BHVR would start making content for a licensed chapter only to change it to original because of some... Coincidental, unconfirmed and undocumented "backing out" from the license holders of the Predator IP.

Another thing, BHVR has several chapters in the works at once months ahead of when they are scheduled to release - this is a proven fact because not only have BHVR themselves confirmed it but we knew about Knight wayy before he was released so the question is IF Skull Merchant was a "failed predator" then why would they recycle it and release it instead of saving it for when they actually secured the rights?

They would've had other chapters in the works at the time, so it can't be because they put all this time and effort into it and needed something to release.

I don't get why people are so attached to this theory and cling to it.

BHVR made a mediocre/bad chapter, no point dwelling on it since it's not going anywhere

Don't take my word for it though, you can hear it from the head of partnerships himself - Mcote:

-"Don't compare Trapper here, because unlike Hag, his traps need to be disarmed in order to walk over them."

You never answered my question : would it be fun/fair if you needed sabo or a toolbox with charges to disarm a bear trap? Trappers would run franklins and would have nearly impossible to disarm traps.

-"she has 5 ways to avoid/remove her traps"

She has 2 ways to remove traps currently and those are flashlight+ run over them with an exhaustion perk or while she is carrying someone. Stop sugar coating the issue.

    -"It is actually realistic."

Is it though? You're Dwight and you've been chased by Hag for ~5 years on the upwards of probably close to a Billion times. Hag again? /sigh. Also what's the realism of magic? Can I interest you in some magic crystals? Maybe if you are a Billionare the French would sell you a Mirage F1 with the R. 550 magic missile.

-"You have a 3rd person view, you can use it to see the traps away from the trigger range"

What happens when you put traps under vegetation? Do they glow? No. Do they have any indication they are there? No. The implication is : traps would be more fair if they could not be placed where they have the option to be occluded. Note I'm not advocating for that because that would make Hag very weak. Compare that to a beartrap that is physically visible inside the terrain (and even more visible if you turn vegation to 1 in your GUI settings).

Let's be brutally honest here for a second. What killer in the game historically has the most beneficial kit for camping without being right on the hook? It's Hag with Make your Choice. She is probably the main reason we have base kit BT so that you can't down the healthy player and then insta down the hurt player for huge snowball.

Removing that as an option made Hag far less cheap to play against and was a good decision for the game.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3384061#Comment_3384061

-"I think this nerf is a step in the right direction in bringing her in line with the rest of the cast"

Honestly I think most people will agree when they stop and think about what this change means as it will make playing against the Hag far more tactical. It will require Hag mains to be sneaky with their trap placements - something that has been unnecessary because until now she could brute force her traps on you.

If any of the killers should be about Guile it should be Hag. I think the use of Franklins by Hag mains told the developers that something was wrong.

You do bring up a fair point and I agree with you for the most part but Franklins was brought for more reasons then just trapping items

It's the best counter to Hag's 2 biggest weaknesses (Flashlights and Medkits), now with both of these things being either obsolete or weaker Franklins might see a lot less use for dedicated Hag players in favour of other perks.

Things don't typically work like that. Talks are long, business meetings go through.

"What will this look like?" "Can we see how this will be displayed?" "What do your numbers say about this or that?"

Deals like this don't happen with a phone call or mailing money - a lot of interconnected parts have to be set in motion and checked.

Processes start, there is velocity, momentum, and agreements - but there's also a lot of opportunity for things to fail and the deal to crumble.

    For instance:

"CEO, we have been in discussions with the legal team over at 20'th Century. We believe that for our DLC package arriving in Q1 we will have the Predator IP secured"

= "Good, we need months to work on this and a lot of effort, marketing companies will be called in January to prep for the rollout and Christmas is fast approaching, do you know what the deal looks like?"

"They are optimistic, but they're still in talks with the holders regarding the pricing - they're quite stubborn about the potential shift in the perception of their product, especially after their recent cinematic release."

= "Damn... if we don't start work on it now, it won't be ready in time for the end of Q1 2023. Start working on the chapter as an original, have some vertical slices to show the investors and the holders. If they back out later, we cannot jeopardize the release."

Behavior has the rights to their work - 20th Century doesn't have the rights to Behaviot's work and if they declined the license, there's really no way they can legally challenge the company.

Start making the product with an end goal in sight. If you cannot secure the juicy license, bake it into a different pie and release it as an original.

Behavior is a software development company with shareholders and salaries to pay. The trains will run on time. They now what's going to be happening later on this year and have, without a doubt, already taken steps to arrive at that conclusion. Things may change on the surface (Gender, height, tools, cosmetics, lore) but you have to start prototyping with a goal to chase.

The thing I'm really hoping you understand is this:

    Approval isn't the be-all-end-all.

    Product is the be-all-end-all.

It takes months to get legal work done for a license to be drafted and take effect. It takes months to design and integrate the content into the game. There is no possible way that Behavior is unprofessional enough not to have backup plans and failsafes in order.

If they intend to have an ALIENS chapter in November or something, they're working on the content now. If the deal falls apart, the effort and content will be released - just not with the licensed aspects.

Behavior will ship their DLC package in the fiscal quarter that the executives have set before them. There will, under no circumstances, be a cancellation due to legal shortfalls.

I really do not buy it, there's absolutely 0 proof this is what happened. Every link to "Predator" is either a choice of wording, comparisons in design and that's it. There's no concrete evidence BHVR was in talks with the license holder and that it fell apart for one reason or another.

Also, maybe you've worked for companies where that's their work process but there's not a chance in hell BHVR repurposed a Predator chapter and it became Tools of Torment.

The more logical explanation has always been that BHVR created a chapter that they thought people would like and they didn't. it can happen - Look at Twins. When Twins flopped people didn't say they were a repurposed Chucky concept.

I love the theories people come up with but let's face it - reality is often disappointing.

My point is that with this kind of change, she is also getting compensated with a buff, so we don't have to see her drown and become less playable than the Twins. That's where she is headed

I think Hag's one of the most power reliant killers in the game so any change that makes her power weaker does have a huge knock on effect to her whole playstyle

Issue is, I don't know how you could buff her. Some random ideas:

    • A slightly longer lunge after teleporting to a trap
    • A small haste buff if she has 0 traps active on the map (She is 110% after all)
    • This one is really out there but in the same vein as clown - another type of phantasm trap??? That might be interesting.

I explained more in the comments but I realize the post doesn't include half of the explanation the comments have, so I'm considering editing the post with the most updated information. I also keep repeating myself at this point and I can't expect people to read 40+ comments

Like I said apologies for treading old ground

I mean I don't disagree that playing Hag both right now and potentially in the future may still be pretty rough with the nerf. She is def getting to the level of killers like Myers who are just really outdated. That being said I think this nerf is a step in the right direction in bringing her in line with the rest of the cast

Also I agree with you, current hag's power is counterable, it totally is.

  • I haven't read the whole thing so I'm sorry if I'm treading old ground here but I think a small Hag nerf to give her power more general counterplay is fine considering she's about to also bask in the glory of extended heals, weaker DH and her biggest counters being completely reworked

Ever since Circle of Healing came out, Hag has been in a rough spot since that perk is the most anti-hag perk there is pretty much. It'll still be good against her, but now survivors can't shrug off injuries from a Hag too quickly like they can currently. Hag relies on keeping people injured to do well.

  • I've been here for a few years and I've only been warned once and it was warranted - I was being a bit of an ass about something and it could've come across as insulting/belittling towards the dev team.

That's the thing though, I'm pretty sure unless what you post is seriously bad you will always be warned first.

I've been very harsh towards the content and mindset of the developers in the past and not once been warned or banned for it, it's when you cross a certain line and it becomes more mockery/insults then criticism when the moderators will step in.

Also worth pointing out, I think Mandy has said in the past that Rant threads are completely fine and allowed. They aren't considered toxic or anything so long as they are purely rants and not targetting anyone.

  • I basically never see NOED these days, I think if the next patch goes through it might become more prominent in the meta again but

The nerf BHVR gave it made it much fairer. The only thing I find unfair about NOED has nothing to do with the perk but with totem/hook rng. If you get hooked next to NOED you're dead, no two ways about it.

Everyone else gets to leave though.

  • I don't think seeing a players name has any impact on the quality of a match

In truth, when companies spend money on things, they scarcely just pack it in when deals go south - they scrap the effort and turn it into a new thing.

Think of it like baking a cake. If you already made the batter and preheated the oven for your friend's party, but then it gets cancelled, are you going to throw the batter away or make cupcakes for your kids?

"There's no way mom was baking a cake for her friend! See, these are cupcakes! Completely different! If the party was cancelled, she would probably just throw all the cake batter out into the trash and start over - there's no way that she'd make cupcakes out of yesterday's cancelled cake batter!"

The food analogy really doesn't work here, we're talking about partnerships and deals with intellectual property ownership which is a complicated legal process, contracts have to be signed and there can be serious legal reprecussions if things go wrong.

There's no way BHVR would ever make content for a license when the contract hasn't been agreed upon and signed because once that happens, that is when everything is essentially finalised and ready to go.

As much flak as the developers get, the team they have working and managing their partnerships do a stellar job.

I am 1000% confident that BHVR wouldn't create content without a contract being signed, it makes absolutely no sense. You don't start producing when the thing you're producing hasn't even been fully approved.

  • I'm not giving BHVR my money for content I do not want nor do I think is well made

Plus with their recent business practices, I want to avoid giving them as much money as possible (FOMO cosmetics for example)

Chases with a Dead Hard use last longer than ones that don't.

Dead Hard is the only perk in the game that can do so exclusively under Survivor control without a condition outside of your control, like a height to fall from or a window to vault.

These two factors are unhealthy for the game when used in conjunction.

    1) Not a proven fact, A chase with a DH user could potentially last longer, if that survivor lands their dead hard and can make it to another tile. Alternatively, a survivor who is playing extremely safe may outlast a DH user in chase because they won't greed pallets or windows

    2) Good Sprint Burst users can reset their exhaustion mid chase for a similar effect. I will say that using DH is purely in the survivor's control as in the killer cannot force them to press the E key but that also means the survivor has to know when the Killer will swing. It's not like they hit E and then the perk works ONLY when the killer decides to swing.

Sometimes the Killer might hit a survivor before they've even had a chance to press the key to begin with.

That being said, I don't really care that the perk is being nerfed. It's never bothered me since its rework and I never used it because I prefer Sprint Burst so this is just for the sake of discussion. It's not like what annoys you about the perk is going away, they just made it harder for survivors to use it

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3382386#Comment_3382386

Are you suggesting that if you press E when the killer attacks you, and you get a speed boost to get away and create distance, that such a statement is an OPINION?

I am pretty sure those are all facts.

No fella, you said that "DA MATHS" backs up what you said

But what you said was your subjective opinion and an example of a perk working with no shred of evidence or numbers to back you up.

The only factual thing you said is that Dead Hard can extend chases. That's true, it CAN extend chases. The key word being can aka it can also backfire and not work.

^ Which in my personal experiences is the case, New DH never bothered me.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3382351#Comment_3382351

    Says who?

    MATH.

Chase, chase, chase. Pallet, window, chase. Mind game, HA! Outplayed, M1... aaaand

    E.

Get bent, Killer. I win anyways, even though you made the right play. Now all that chase time is fully wasted, I am going to sprint burst away and we get to start this process ALL.... OVER... AGAIN.

That's not math that's a bunch of words

Your opinion on DH is purely a subjective opinion, which is totally fair you're entitled to it but it's not a fact

Another thing though I could equally create an example where their DH doesn't go off and I win as proof that the perk isn't that good and that people are just bad at the video game.

That's not my viewpoint but it could just as easily be.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

The actual problem is we don't know if the visual terror radius will respect loud noises like generators. If the visual terror radius literally pops up whenever a survivor is in an active terror radius or lullaby, then it's absolutely a buff.

If the visual terror radius only pops up if the survivor could realistically be expected to hear the terror radius (or lullaby) noises over the loud generator noises, then it will be fine. But I can tell you right now, that if I'm working on a generator, and there are far way faint terror radius noises, that I can't hear them over the generator noises. And if I get a visual terror radius, when I can't hear terror radius noises, then the visual terror radius is a buff.

I'm pretty sure it won't and I'm glad it won't because helping those with problems like impaired hearing is important. They should able to enjoy the game as much as anyone else.

Most killers these days have super loud custom terror radius themes anyway so as soon as you hear them you know you're in the TR regardless of how loud a generator is

  • @TigerSnake said:

Medkits will still be strong. Doing this will just make them OP again.

    @jesterkind said:

Unless you also un-buff BK to put it back down to 33%, that would make the perk wildly overpowered. It's already an extremely strong perk with the downside, so just taking away that limiting factor makes it wayyyy stronger.

    How?

All medkits have had their self healing speed standardised, meaning with botany knowledge - all medkits will heal you in 16 seconds aka the same as a brown medkit by itself does now. Green Medkits no longer give you increased self healing speed

Please explain how that is in anyway overpowered.

How does it make any sense that by bringing a perk that lets you heal your teammates faster, you stop yourself from being able to use a default medkit to heal yourself?

  • This might not actually be true, take a look here:

    steamexplanation.PNG

I imagine majority of people have never touched this setting before, so it would be set to 'Default'

Default says that IPs are not shared unless it 'appears necessary'

  • Forgive me for saying this but if you seriously think it's not possible to win with anyone else from the roster and that Blight/Nurse are "just barely viable" then there must be some serious jumps in logic to arrive at that conclusion.

I regularly play M1 only killers with minimal slowdown perks and I can win pretty regularly and failing that - even in my worst games I can pull a 2k out of it. A 2k isn't a loss nor a win. I also regularly lose to M1 killers while playing Survivor as well while having thousands of hours

I get that sometimes, the matches you play make you feel hopeless and powerless. I'm not saying feeling that way is invalid - but to say only Nurse/Blight is viable is just plain incorrect.

  • @Nirgendwohin said:

now we are getting to a point. the forum runners are the same people who make the game. the majority of the players agree that certain are just toxic. an example would be bleedout, in which the killer stands over the survivor and nods the whole time, even though a hook is within reach. So it would be up to the developer to prevent this behavior ingame.

Basekit UB is likely BHVR's solution to bleedout games

  • @Nirgendwohin said:

every action has consequences. people should think beforehand whether they want to present themselves that way. most actively choose to do so, and do so several times. the fact that the developer decides to sweep the deeds under the table in his sphere of influence makes him an accomplice.

making the game hell for others cannot be the goal. you complain about others' playing styles, but you still support their anonymity. but it is exactly these players that you created this thread for.

A percentage of DBD players are extremely petty and would make countless threads naming and shaming people who didn't play in a way they liked regardless of the players intent, strategy or mindset if it was allowed. The community is already rife with people who have completely different definitions on what being """toxic""" even is so it's completely fair for the forum runners to not want that kind of content on their platform

Especially when it can lead to things like harrassment and so on. If a platform becomes a vehicle for harrassment then that responsiblity falls on the forum runners to moderate and deal with it which is why naming and shaming is banned.

  • The perk version of BT is crazy strong in a lot of scenarios now

Most notably the endgame, if the Killer hooks somebody far away from gates - they can 100% wait out the 10 seconds and then down them again and unless the whole team is healthy and able to take hits, there's nothing else they can do given OTR and DS would both be disabled

To give a anecdotal example - recently I played a game vs a Clown on Haddonfield, he hooked somebody a decent distance from an exit gate and he was camping. I managed to trade for them with BT, he left me on the floor and bombarded them with bottles, intent on waiting out the 10s BT

However considering I had the perk version, his plan backfired and she got out thanks to it.

  • "gg"

    Click continue

    Easy.

Play how you want, if you were just trying to win that's how it goes

Sorry to hear about the DDos thing you mentioned though, some of the most pathetic pettiest people alive play this game it seems.

  • @Dreamnomad said:

Distressing - I wish they would combine Distressing and Unnerving Presence into one perk.

Dark Devotion - I wish they would drop the obsession requirement and just put it on like an 60 second timer.

Dissolution - I've never bothered with it but I don't think it would hurt to increase the time to like 4 or 5 seconds.

Furtive Chase - The only thing good about this perk is its ability to switch obsessions which can be nice for certain killer challenges or some meme builds like pairing it with Make Your Choice and Nemesis. They should double the range bonus for each token to 8 meters.

Overwhelming Presence - This one is just horrible when compared to Franklin's Demise. They could triple the penalty to 300% depletion rate when in terror radius and I would still choose Franklin's Demise over it. I think survivors just shouldn't be able to use items when in your terror radius and then add a lesser effect for the rank levels like 50/75/100% bonus bloodpoints toward something. Then it would be about equal quality to Franklin's Demise.

Septic Touch - Just need to add oblivious status effect as well and then it'd be good.

Here's a whacky idea for Overwhelming Presence

It being a Doctor perk, the theme of the perk is about causing fear and I imagine the concept is being scared causes people to use their items in an inefficient manner

So what about if attempting to use items inside the Terror radius causes them to perform whatever action the item effects to be extremely slow

Medkits - All medkit speeds are negated, defaulting to the original 16s

Toolbox - Negates the increased repair speed but keeps the increased skillcheck chance. Would also apply to toolboxes that have increased sabotage speed

Flashlights - This was a tough one but I remembered 'Flashlight Accuracy' is a thing, so maybe Overwhelming could make FL's extremely inaccurate

Keys - Longer to open Hatch

They should also specify this rework would not work with certain Killer powers, such as T virus vaccines, first aid sprays, the lament configuration and so on. There are addons that already cause this effect.

  • @Blueberry said:

Most aura perks just need to have a lingering effect of like 10 or 15 seconds to make them more reliable. Dark Devotion needs to last 60 seconds as the current duration is not enough. Dissolution needs the 3 second activation removed. Septic Touch is just embarrassingly bad and needs its numbers jacked up ridiculously and to also apply on finished heals, not just interrupted ones. Overwhelming needs more effects to it, it just doesn’t do enough.

Septic Touch does apply to finished heals, it's just badly worded

Essentially while you are healing - you are permanently exhausted and blind and then whenever you stop healing by any means - the lingering effect triggers. The healing action being completed counts as it being 'interrupted' in the same way fearmonger's effect still applies even if you finish a generator

On the same subject though, the perk should apply to people being healed - not just the person doing the healing. The wording implies it's only the person doing the healing 'action'.

  • Dark Devotion is fine as is IMHO

Dissolution should have the warning removed from it for the first time it activates on a survivor, maybe add 5 more seconds to its duration as well.

The rest I 100% agree are horrible perks that need changing

  • Probably a mixture of pretty decent high killrates, a very dedicated fanbase who like her as she is for the most part (Like Legion) and overall they are probably pleased with how she turned out

The only complaints people really have about Sadako is the condemn slugging playstyle which if basekit UB is to be a thing - will cease to exist for the most part. This is probably the most plausible reason as to why.

  • More of a comfort combo more then anything but:

For survivor it has to be Kindred + Open Handed. It is legitimately one of the most underrated combos you can run

It provides you or your team with so much information at the most crucial times

For Killer, I cannot live without Agitation. It is basically never a bad pick on any Killer apart from maybe Pyramid Head but even he still has to hook people so, still not a bad choice esp if you have scourge hooks in your build.

  • The Teamwork perks are already a failed concept and they just came out

    Nobody uses these perks.

At least COH and Pain Res get used

How about this. It's strong at mitigating rushes but it's fun to use and to play against. In most scenarios, bump logic is stronger. That's not to say there aren't tiles where the hug tech is better simply because of the tile itself or what collision is lacking around the tile, but those are few in comparison to normal blight. So what's the real point in removing it other than the mere fact it wasn't an intended feature? If it gets removed blight simply becomes less interactive for both sides.

Fun to use? Sure I 100% agree with that

Fun to go against? Not so much. Not speaking personally, many people dislike it for various reasons. It doesn't bother me that much in my games

At least you acknowledge that it is more then simply "oh its just for fun and to show off!!!" which is more then a lot of other blight mains who try to defend it do. Just admit that it's really good once you can pull it off and you do it because it's strong instead of trying to act like it's not yk?

    Good response, I appreciate that.

  • Say it with me everyone

    "Bump logic stronger..."

"It's just to show off and be flashy..."

"Something something fighting games bugs into features"

The only 3 arguments I ever see when people defend hug tech

That being said no people shouldn't be banned for it. Devs consider it a bug and not an exploit. If it was an exploit I imagine it'd have been fixed by now. Jflick was an exploit because it exploited an oversight with DPI and turn rates being uncapped. Something like that

Back when MMR was first added (it worked and gave long queues and sweaty games) prior to Crossplay, there were maybe 15-20 of us on Xbox who would just constantly and exclusively play against each other.

I think one of my favorite messages was, "We all really hate you but when you aren't playing, we can't find games, so thanks."

It's a little unfair, but in my example we kinda knew who we were gonna play against.

Yeah like if it's only one or maybe two of the same people as the last match then I don't mind it

But I've faced 3/4 man SWFs and while the match wasn't a stomp or anything - I'd rather not just have essentially a repeat of the prior match.

These days I try not to dodge as much though because having learned that the backfill will likely throw a less experienced killer in my place does make me kinda feel awful for doing it.

  • Only reason I've dodged a few times is because I don't like facing the same people I just fought, especially if I'm playing the same Killer with the same build

It feels like I'd be giving them an advantage for no reason, plus it's boring facing the same people and I imagine facing the same Killer as the game prior would be boring too

Does this sound unfair to anyone? Genuinely curious.

It's so sad that Spirit is no longer considered one of the strongest killers in the game, with insane addons and some addons that are bugged and pull double duty as duration and recovery.

    Shame.

But, wasn’t the cause known for that issue?

i really don’t know. But at least they are acknowledging it now and looking into it, being transparent. I actually thought they did smth about it before but could be completely wrong here.

    Hopefully I'm wrong

The 'security issue' just seems to be the exact same, description wise

(Steam only, IP based). Like that's exactly what it was last time too

This weekend, there has been several DDos attacks on multiple streamers, so the issue came to some new peak and apparently, those streamers didn’t have the problem before? (Wasn’t the previous IP leak also fixed at some point? Idk)

I'm pretty sure this is the same security issue, it wasn't too long ago all the streamers were talking about having to use VPNs and stuff like that

I think it was just forgotten about and people weren't getting knocked offline until this weekend. Or maybe they were but they weren't streamers so we have no idea. Idk

I'm like 80% sure this is the same "IP leak issue" from all those months ago

  • 1) I don't need items to do well

    2) I like rolling the dice on chests in the map, it's much more exciting

    3) Killers see items as sweaty and are likely to adapt to it

Only time I bring items is to make challenges easier, that's it

  • It's not impossible

It's just extremely tedious, boring gameplay that nobody ACTUALLY likes. People will say they love going from gen to gen holding the space bar but there's no way they actually enjoy doing it for gameplay. Some like doing it to make survivors mad which, yeah.

In the time you spend trying to 'win' a genlock knight/skull merchant game, you could already be in your next match getting to actually play the game

I'd rather lose then play like this, either role.

  • Nobody

You're meant to lose sometimes, it's the video game.

Sometimes losses are a matter of bad luck, bad coordination, bad RNG or just simply making mistakes but

    yeah.

  • They've known about this for years though

Like as far back as when Artist came out at least

How has it taken THIS long?

  • Skull merchant is anti-loop though, it's just not good.

If you put your power at a loop, if the survivor stays they get exposed.

Same philosophy as Artist, same philosophy as Knight. (put power at loop for damage)

  • Mindgames and reads

    Both roles

What makes it so skillful is every player is different. Some are predictable, others not so much. Some always look behind them, some don't and some alternate

Some will expect killers to pallet respect and greed pallets, others won't and will play safe.

Some will fall for basic mindgames, others will expect mindgames and be caught off guard if you don't try them.

  • @SunsetSherbet said:

I don't get why this is being called a Pig nerf. A nerf to her perk isn't a direct nerf to her. MYC was not used on her. It's as much a Pig nerf as Eruption is a direct nerf to Nemesis, because it's his perk. This is indeed an unneeded nerf to all scream based perks. Something that no one complained about, and all those perks were already fairly unviable. Now they are genuinely useless.

It's a nerf and it's related to Pig in an indirect way so it's a "Pig nerf" to keep the meme going

DH still has no counterplay in tight loops. It's basically the same thing in a lot of cases. Some killers just get completely gutted by it (pyramid head). Now instead of them just gaining a few meters for dodging your super slow and predictable attack, they get an entire sprint burst. Trickster also losing all progress on his knives for a DH basically ruined the character because I still get lobbies with 3-4 DHs.

But similar to old DH, the strongest killers don't even care about it and just plow through extra health states. It's really the weaker killers who actually suffer

I will happily admit new DH screws over most of the projectile killers. That I will 100% admit. Huntress, Trickster, Pyramid Head are all hard countered to a certain degree by DH. (Not Slinger though)

But as someone who mains mainly m1 killers, I really do not feel like I lose because of this perk anymore. Maybe I've just adapted to it, I don't know but I've got so many clips of survivors failing their DHs in my games it's hilarious.

    In response to @Phasmamain, @Brokenbones

Okay so I just tried holding down 3 gens. So I was on a new map and the survivors landed 3 Dead Hard before I got my first hook. So I was like well fug that, so I started patrolling gens, kicking (without any gen reduction perks), sooner or later all the pallets on one side of the map was gone and they were picked out slowly one after one.

It was surprisingly easy, the Survivor team didnt know what to do for sure, idk if bHVR can tell us what they were supposed to do.

    But I ended up with a 3K.

Itsreally powerful, but really boring for me, then again getting DeadHardDenied is also boring, so it was either plague or cholera.

Thanks for taking the time to try it for yourself, I appreciate that a lot

It really is just a war of attrition if you play like this.

Yeah it's great never being able to use a lunge attack against good survivors

The animation is also shorter than the ability which is infuriating to wait it out but still eat a DH anyways

I would honestly rather deal with the old DH. At least then on a lunge attack they don't get halfway across the map for "outskilling" you when you can only do a short attack at loops

The only plus side is that many killers can now completely bypass it, but the ones that got screwed by it get screwed by it extra hard these days

Dead hard for distance had no counterplay for 90% of the cast though. I'll take a deep wound over an i-frame scammed hit

It's a bit silly we're at the point now where people genuinely think old DH was better for Killer.

do you bait it out or use a 1 shot killer that dominates the perk?

I either wait it out or down survivors who are animation locked or deep wounded.

Old DH used to make me lose games, New DH hasn't really had that impact in my games. (I don't speak for everyone though.)

For reference, my most played Killers lately are Sadako, Wesker and Dredge.

This is an odd change, and a pretty significant nerf to perks like Make Your Choice and Dragon's Grip, where knowing which survivor activated the perk is very beneficial.

This doesn't seem like a very good change.

Go to the last page of this thread and look for Mandy's posts, it's mentioned there

  • Please no

I know this is a contentious opinion but I don't actually mind the new DH that much

Old DH was the most frustrating thing for Killers to deal with and maybe to some the new DH is but not for me personally lmao

Keep in mind though this comparison doesn't factor in the small amount that gets knocked off each time a killer kicks a gen, which if survivors are constantly contesting will slowly add up over time.
