They won't ever do it because they're scared it'll ruin matchmaking times as Killers won't choose to play SWF. To me this just shows that the majority of killers hate SWF and don't want to play it, but instead of doing anything to deal with the killers issues or finding a balanced solution for everyone they'd rather just pander to the survivors as always and keep it in, despite how it favours the survivors and provided them with a huge unfair advantage.

Keepers Creepers is the one franchise they said they would never do.
Fair enough, would be cool to play as him but i'd rather they did Exorcist, imagine spider walking around the maps.

@Peanits said:
That does sound like a lot of fun. You might need a way to make more fair for the killer, though. If the only limit is how fast you can run, a particularly fast survivor could outrun the killer.
I would also suggest making the survivors wear velcro suits, as well as making the hooks velcro as well. That way you have to literally peel someone off of the hook, which would be funny to me.
That's a brilliant idea, and would be hilarious! I'll make it happen one day. But maybe you guys should host one at Behaviour Studios? I'd love to watch it. You'd be able to think of better mechanics for it and put a budget behind it.

No wonder you're not having issues at Rank 7 lol. Wait til you get to Rank 1 - 4. The onIy perks I see shared between 4 survivors are MoM DS BT, Adrenaline, Dead Hard and Self Care.

Last Friday we held our largest dev stream to date and revealed all sorts of new content, features, and details about the coming year.
Will you be introducing any new game modes to DBD in Year 4? i.e anything from as small as a 'Casual mode' without ranked play to anything as huge as Hide or Seek or Infected style mode.
-
Any tips to get better at spirit and doctor? Also what perks should I use on them?
Like others have said, headphones are extremely helpful for Spirit and the perks I love to use are:
- BBQ Chili
- Nurse's Calling
- Ruin
- Make Your Choice
The more you play her the better you'll get. Aside from hearing them with headphones, you'll also need to learn to predict where you think the survivors will go during chases which comes naturally the more you play. She is a really fun killer to play with, definitely worth the time getting used to her.

All my killers are level 50 so based on this theory i'll be ranked with only survivors who are level 50? I don't think this sounds right or works in my opinion. Maybe they should think about using player level instead.

I agree, Archives sounds really decent. New challenges and in depth lore which will kinda acts like a campaign in a way.

I completely agree. They DC at that moment to INTENTIONALLY deny you the BBQ stack because they're salty.
This isn't even a minority of games. This happens to me literally almost every other game at least. I main Spirit so people rage quit fast.
Also @Mochan we know that isn't quite the case as most of them even stick around till end chat to rub it in your face that they denied you the BBQ stack.
Same here, almost every other game it happens to me. I know sometimes it's salty survivors being hooked too quickly but the majority of the time it happens mid game which makes me believe it's to deny BBQ as it's easy for survivors to tell you have it.
-
@se05239 said:
Sure, if survivors also get a stack for WGLF if a fellow survivor DCs. It'd be fair.
Don't get me wrong I don't think this is an issue, but the difference is you could still get WGLF to 100% with 1 survivor whereas BBQ needs 4.

DOUBLE PALLETS ARE BACK?
Yep.
-
@Peanits said:
Pallet spawns have not been changed recently. Each map has a minimum and maximum pallet count. It will try to space those pallets out as best it can by not spawning pallets within a certain radius of other pallets. If the minimum number of pallets has not been reached and there are no valid spaces left, it'll break the rules and spawn them wherever it can. This is why you'll sometimes end up with double pallets.
The silver lining is that if that does happen, you have the lowest number of pallets possible.
That's fair enough and makes sense, I just assumed there were a set number for every map. Thanks @Peanits

Yeah. When I bought the game I was like "this gonna be a horror game, survivors will be afraid to face the killer, etc" Turns its not even close to a horror game. Probably wasn't even meant to be. I always thought the game would be more fun if the survivors would actually have a reason to FEAR the killer.
I know how you feel, i have to admit when I first started playing and played survivor I feared the killer and was caught up in the suspense of just repairing gens, escaping (not worrying / understanding perks) trying not to be caught or seen. Made me jump quite a bit at times, but it wasn't long before that element of the game wore off. Still enjoy it though!

This was my argument in a post a few weeks back, it's not even close to representing a horror franchise lol. When has that ever happened in a movie?
'Oh no, the killer! Quick, everyone, crouch at his knees!'

Didn't they make Licensed character only purchasable with real money? Which was why people were so mad about Mettle of Men because it was paid only.
Wasn't aware of this, is a shame but not the end of the world. I'll use my shards on Jane, but not until Ghost Face is released just in case. Worst case scenario i'll have him at level 50 the second I've got him.

I see what you mean, but there are options. If you're near a hook, you can always drop them and hit the other survivors first. You'd have to be really far from any hook for that to make the difference, at which point it would probably be down to poor hook management.
We actually dropped stats recently for SWF groups.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/667/VYFK2GJT0RYJ.jpg
If we're just looking at 3/4 man groups (one person blocking the hook shouldn't cause you issues), we're only talking about ~18% of all games.
Even so, if that is a common issue for you, I would suggest running Mad Grit. That perk will completely counter a bodyblocking SWF group, even if you're not near a hook.
I appreciate the stats and thanks for suggesting Mad Grit that is a good idea and i'll definitely try it. In regards to the stats are you able to drill down further to show this but for certain ranks / tiers? I genuinely believe for rank 5+ most SWF are 3/4 players (from my experience on PS4).
-
Great idea. MoM DS & Dead Hard should not be allowed to be used together.

Uh... yea I know I've seen this before. Doesn't change a thing, if you are dumb enough to think you can hit 3 survivors before getting a hook then you don't deserve the hook. A smart killer would drop the survivor the moment he saw multiple survivors trying to body block.
And I wouldn't need to call out your killer bias if you weren't so blatantly biased towards killers. "Oh no survivors are body blocking the hook, this is so unfair to me!" Sorry if you legit think this way you need to get better as killer. I will drop a dude in a heartbeat when I see survivors doing this, then I have a slug, potentially a free hit or 2, and can snowball even harder.
Your ignorance is hilarious. If you drop a survivor after they've wiggled for so long they escape which is exactly what happened to me. They sabotaged hooks and sat by the only hook within my reach. I didn't even see them until it was too late. How is that fair?

A downed survivor creates just as much map pressure as a survivor that's on the hook.
If the rest of the gang are all around you, drop the survivor and ######### their ######### up. Make them regret trying to get in your way.
Alternatively, use Agitation and just zoom past them.
Not the point. More points for hooking and bbq perk etc.

Killer can easily counter survivors bodyblocking by hitting them, even just dropping the survivor to get someone else.
Survivors on the other hand have absolutely no way to make a save if the killer bodyblocked the hook prompt.
They aren't even comparable. KILLER BIAS AT IT'S FINEST RIGHT HERE PEOPLE!
Drop the survivor and he escapes due to the wiggle time / distance from hook. It is trolling and shouldn't be allowed.

You could always drop the survivor if there's more than one in your way, although bodyblocking is not exclusive to SWF. I've taken hit for total strangers before and complete strangers have taken hits for me as well.
You're missing my point. In SWF it is a regular occurrence. It happens all the time because people use voice chat and plan the move whereas in normal mode they can't and is a lot less likely to happen. In regards to dropping the survivor I wasn't able too as the distance from the hook was too great and they were sabotaging hooks. Literally planning the move to troll. This is 100% trolling regardless of your opinion.

There's a big difference there. Survivors could not force the killer to move out of the way, but the killer can hit the survivors to force them to move.
Not really. Double standards. If I dropped the survivor they would have escaped due to the distance from the hook.

It is not. Bodyblocking is only bannable when it is used to grief (by holding the game hostage, or by blocking teammates to get them killed). In the case of someone blocking a hook, you can hit them to force them to move.

Fair enough, but I had 3 survivors blocking 1 hook. I swung and hit but they just swapped resulting in me dropping the survivor. Yet another case of SWF benefits. How is this fair?

I've been doing the same for the past few days. Like, I just don't want to play in that kind of stress right now. It's fine every now and then when I'm in a place I can deal with it mentally, but I'd like to have fun for a while. Do you even read what you're typing out? You think that you're entitled to something when you really aren't. You're playing at high ranks. You're going to face good survivors. That's literally what high ranks are for! You say you don't play to pip, but how do you get to such a high rank then? I don't want to sound mean, but you're ruining the game for other players just because you're not enjoying the game. SWF or not. There is no excuse to being a jerk, if you're playing at high ranks, expect SWF. Or, you could actually just not play until rank reset and stay at green ranks, instead of reaching red and disconnecting from every other game. Playing against good survivors is part of the game, it's part of the challenge. Simply because you don't want to put in effort to get better does not give you an excuse to DC.
Yawn.
Do you read what you type? 'How do you get to such a high rank' - because i'm good throughout all ranks, except red, and in red tier I just get brutal killer all the time. I'm constantly stuck between ranks 3 - 5 unless I play as Billy in which case I can get to rank 1 but i'm bored of playing him all the time.

@[Deleted User] said:
If you want to lower your rank, just play a meme thing. Like Merchant Bubba. Or just play in a non-serious manner like perkless Freddy, or ambush only Pig, etc.
Just going in and disconnecting (disconnects are bugged and you get your pips when you restart the game again by the way) is just asking to be banned while ruining other people's games. If you want to quit that badly, then just quit.
Not a bad suggestion, it will give me a chance to try some silly perk builds. My favourite thing to do when i'm not playing serious is use Insidious and camp in the basement once i've hooked a survivor. Haven't done that in ages but I think it's time!

Nope, you cannot DC.
You can not play the game, this is fine. And far better for 4 other players than a Killer who DCs every game until he is at a Rank where he gets the easier Survivors.
Well i'm going to until i'm either banned or they introduce a casual game mode.

When you let go of the mentality that "I have to kill all 4 survivors to win" your experience will become a lot less stressful. I'm devotion 5 and I mostly go for bloodpoints and if I score over 20-25k, even if survivors escape I'm happy.
I agree with you and play the same way, my mentality isn't to get 4 kills but it's not BPs either as i've unlocked all killer perks. I just hate being trolled, looped and gen rushed even with ruin. I play the chase game and let survivors rescue each other off hooks which is resulting in me getting 1 or 2 kills and brutal killer so my rank doesn't improve or decrease. The most frustrating thing is being gen rushed and have 2 gens left when you've only hooked 1 survivor.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Ah, you spent money on this game? Yeah, so you can totally DC. Spending money on a game gives you the ability to avoid any punishment.
I spent money on this game because I enjoyed playing it. Now I don't enjoy playing it because the game is unbalanced due to SWF at high ranks, so yeah until they provide a casual game mode I feel I can DC as there is no alternative. Feel free to disagree but this is my opinion and at the end of the day i'm a valuable customer.
-
@Elegant said:
They can't make new game modes (except for short term ones for an event maybe) because they don't have enough players to fill both queues. It would result in queue times being ridiculous. Red rank killers can already have to wait 5+ minutes per game depending on the time of day. Adding another game mode would just make queue times even worse.
New game modes would introduce new players to the game and would most likely bring back old players.
-
@Mediva said:
So you are good at the game, cause you have devotion rank 1? I have it at 3 and still suck.
good killers know the game. they know how to break a loop, how to end chases quickly. if its not an infinite, you arent doing something good. Change build (get rid of ruin and use a perk that actually helps in chases?) or whatever. Best weak point of swf? they are to altruistic. Use that to your advantage.
Learn from every game. Dont chase someone that is clearly a lot better then you. And stop complaining about those people, who also invested time in this game to get better then you.
Also, if they bodyblock you, hit them? looks to me like they are bodyblocking a tunnelling killer then who needs cheesytactics....yeah for them!
You don't have a clue. SWF is OP and there is no denying it. The only excuse for defending it is to be stubborn or for sake of argument. My killer rank is my reason for being good, hence why i'm red ranks. My devotion demonstrates the time I invested into the game. My point in this post is regarding a casual game mode instead of ranked so before trying to jump down my throat read the post next time and understand I wasn't asking for your opinion. People on this forum just love an excuse to argue, it's honestly boring.
-
I'm also now getting in the habit of dodging lobbies as soon as SWF players join. I know this sucks and is bad practice but it's just not fun for me and I don't see the point in playing when I know how the game will end.
-
I thought teachable perks where additional perk slots for that particular character lol, so I thought you could have 7 in total. I would play as Feng Min and not use any of her base perks because I thought I had unlocked them permanently and wondered why my vault wasn't working haha.
I also thought active totems were traps to give away my position so wouldn't ever cleanse them.
-
I've purchased all the killers, and 2 survivors (ash & adam) but have never paid for any cosmetics. I'm planning on getting Ghostface too but have 9000 shards so hopefully won't need to pay.

@Johnny_XMan said:
I play both killer and survivor, and as killer I've encountered strong SWF but also weak ones.
You can't pigeonhole ALL SWF groups because it could go one way or the other. Playing with friends I have found that sometimes we get too cocky thinking we know where the killer is or who they are on, but we are sometimes wrong... and end up making mistakes.
Playing against SWF as killer has also taught me that survivors in SWF are ultra altruistic, which sometimes can work to your advantage.
Your idea to allow killers to cherry pick lobbies is not one that I agree with. Especially those of us who play killer and don't even watch who joins as long as someone joins.
I think this may be a console and rank thing. I play on PS4 and am in red ranks (currently rank 3 but it varies) and am always paired with 4 SWFs which are truly a nightmare to play against. Survivors at high ranks only really play SWF from what i've noticed because i guess it's much easier for them. In fact, it's so rare I don't get paired with SWF.

Making a second version of games IMO serves no real purpose with Games as a Service, other than to divide the playerbase via literal version instancing, and act as a blatant cashgrab.
MMOs are a prime example of what SHOULD happen with games as a service. You have your "base" that a player buys into, and they can choose to purchase your service down the road, or stick with what they got. Only small instances of content are divided by game version. The rest acts as a "Hub" of player activity.
For DBD, unless they had an ENTIRE new roster of Killers and Survivors, and did not double-dip backwards, it'd kinda be a half-assed new release. Then you'd also have matchmaking issues, also the people that stick with DBD1, etc.
No. Sequels are generally left to RPGs or games whose tonal/design shift differs greatly from the previous iteration.
I agree with you, think it would be better to keep building on Dbd and introduce new modes eventually. I'm happy with the format of the current mode but would love to see them mix it up and try something different.
