  • Does anyone think we'll ever seen a solution to this? I'd love to hear the devs discuss it during a livestream or Q&A.

As I suggested multiple times before: Encourage killers to face SWFs!

Make it fun and rewarding to face SWFs!

    Maybe a BP multiplier?

Maybe some special features like aura reveal or free Mori after the 2nd hook (same survivor not total hooks)?

Endgame reveal the auras from the remaining SWFs.

If you hook a SWF show the aura of the other SWFs.

This would make playing as a SWF and Killer more challenging and rewarding.

There could be done much more!

Just be clear about the rules and it's counters.

I agree completely! Encourage killers to want to play against SWF. It's about time this was addressed.

Overwatch, like most other online games were balanced around both teams having voice chat. DbD was balanced around 4 survivors unable to talk with each other. When the devs added SWF, and 3rd party voice chat with it, they made the survivors the power role and not the killer.

The game becomes easy peezy with voice chat.

Exactly! It's easy with voice chat but there's no way to combat it. I play on PS4 and players would just host private chats. There needs to be a buff to the killer to make it fairer / even. Would be good if you could listen in to SWF chat so you could hear their plans but again it wouldn't work because of private parties.

I think survivors each losing a perk or the killer gaining an extra perk would be a decent step towards countering voice chat in game and making it balanced but i'm sure survivors will disagree.

did you know that at the moment , if you play in lan with your friends, even if don't play as swf , you have chances to get in a killer lobby togheter? :))) let's say a killer enable "only solo survivors" thing that you suggest... but with a lan party or software like hamachi ... they can do the same :D :D :D

I'm a PS4 player so don't care that much about Lan tbh.

  • @SmokePotion said:

the biggest problem with this that I see:

No killer will choose the SWF lobby.

It would need to be somehting like:

    Casual: 4 man's ok

Ranked: Solo Survivors only (or maybe 2 mans?)

Not a bad suggestion. I'd even happily play casual without ranking up or down if it meant I could play with solo players.

My main reason for playing this game is for fun, not points or ranks. My issue with SWF is at Rank 2 you get paired with 4 friends who just like farming points which is no fun as a killer.

  • @drunky26 said:

You also gotta understand that not every SWF group is a sweaty tryhard p3 squadette. I for example often play with friends just to have a good time, we usually just mess around not caring about escaping. It's much more fun trust me. And making killers choose if they want to play against swf or not is kinda lame, they'll obviously choose not to play against it which means swf lobby times are gonna be huge.

Don't get me wrong, I do agree that swf is a bit unfair to killers, but there needs to be a whole different solution.

Thanks for commenting, I do agree with you and appreciate your opinion. I'm not too concerned on the outcome I just believe something needs to be done to counter this to make it somewhat equal for both sides.

  • @Patricia

Also thank you for passing on my comments to the game designers, means a lot :)

    Hello @BoredByDaylight

I understand that this can be frustrating for some players but I have some concerns about this.

Is this going to be too much for the killer to choose to play without survivors in a team/party? Imagine if the killer is dodging lobbies because of a SWF team and this group are not able to find any killer to play with because of that? This would be another issue but for these group no? (just to mention that this is my opinion and how I see things) everyone have a different opinion and perspective and that's okay too :)

But I understand your points, I will share your feedback about the SFW to our game designer to see what they think about that.

    Thanks!

    Have a great day/evening

    Hi @Patricia

Thanks for your comment and response, I really appreciate it.

I completely respect your opinion and understand where you're coming from, however I feel SWF extremely favours and aids survivors. Do you agree with this statement? If there won't be any changes to the game mode that allow killers to play in solo only lobby's, there should at the very least be an incentive or bonus to the killer which makes it fairer for them. E.g. less pallets on a map, 1 less perk for each survivor, longer gen repairs, additional killer bps, 1 additional perk for killer etc. These are just a few off the top of my head but i'm sure there's plenty more.

If i've understood you correctly and you believe SWF will struggle finding matches if a solo mode was introduced, does that not imply most killers would prefer not to play against SWF?

  • Confirmed, Jack Frost coming to Dbd.

  • Some of my ideas:

    - 2 vs 8 (like a lot of people suggest)

    - Infected (like on COD - start as a killer vs x amount of survivors and each sacrifice they join your team as a killer)

    - Hide & Seek (Loads of different objects to hide in instead of repairing generators, and there's a time limit. If you're found and hooked you die, if you last the timer the entity kills the killer)

    - Kill the Killer Mode (survivors objective is to build a weapon instead of repairing gens which allows you to kill the killer)

    - Safe by Sunlight (Killer has to protect survivors from the entity. There are 5 ritual items on the maps which survivors need to locate and summon. As they summon the item an entity enemy appears which attacks the survivors. The killer needs to protect them and fight off the enemy until the item has been summoned (the actually mechanics of this need some though - please suggest ideas). One all have been summoned they can perform a ritual which kills the entity.

  • @Auron471 said:

Killers and survivors team up to gather the infinity generators and kill the entity.

But in all seriousness, i would love to see an event where the killers and survivors team up vs the entity. and shadowy versions of the killers try to attack the survivors and killer must protect them while the survivors do objectives.

I like this, call it Safe by Sunlight. As you said, Killers protect survivors from the entity. Instead of repairing gens they have to locate 5 items (maybe entity limbs) and perform a sacrifice.

  • @TheGameZpro3 said:

    CHAOS:

    4 Survivors, 2 Killers.

Survivors can complete generators in 15 seconds, they must get 10 completed.

Survivors cannot work on the same gen.

If the survivor working on the gen leave at all, for any reason, the gen progress is set to zero.

    It's extremely dark.

Killers are 2 times faster. Survivors are 1.5 times faster.

When the end game collapse happens, the survivors only have 1 minute.

Survivor have 5 perks, killers have 6.

I thought of something like that some time ago. Just complete and utter fopping chaos.

I'm a killer main and think this would just be way too easy for killers.

  • - 2 vs 8 (like you mentioned)

If the return is 100% then essentially you have to level only one killer and survivor to max, just refund before every game to switch and level up (yes this impractical because it takes forever)

If the return is less than 100% then people will use it when a new character comes out, realize that they suck with the new character and then cry on the forums because they lost bloodpoints

You also essentially increase the grind by 100% - actual refund value

It's an unnecessary system that has almost no positives

True in some respects but the loss you would need to consider are the teachables.

There are some survivors & killers I would happily reset to rank 1 and wouldn't mind losing the perks whereas others I wouldn't dream of resetting.

  • Not sure why so many people are against this. It doesn't affect anyone at all and is a nice option to consider.

It seems the Dbd community just loves to disagree for the sack of disagreeing sometimes.

  • @Zagrid said:

Why? My only question. For what reason would this ever be a good idea.

I like the idea, in the early days of playing I leveled up characters that I don't ever use and would happily reset them to 0 and lose the teachables if it meant I cpuld have the bloodpoints back.

Best reason would be when they release a new character that you want to level up fast. You could essentially trade levels.

  • @Peanits said:

Generally speaking we do not like to do exclusives for the sake of exclusives. In the case of legacy, the only reason it is not available on consoles is because the console versions of the game were released after the cutoff date for legacy, so console players never experienced the longer bloodwebs.

If there was a good reason to reward players on all platforms, say if the progression system changes again, we definitely could, though. But I can't make any promises there.

Typical of you to respond to cosmetic threads. When are you actually going to start reviewing/responding to the balanced feedback section?

@BoredByDaylight survivors body blocking the hook AKA taking a hit for a survivor in the killers grasp is actually encouraged, it grants emblem bonus and we’re gonna live forever stacks.

A survivor taking a hit to protect a killer and body blocking a hook are 2 different things. When we're talking about survivors body blocking a hook i'm referencing the 2 or 3 survivors who sit in front of the hook preventing the killer from hooking the opponent.

There are already so many counter plays to prevent being hooked - DS, Sabotage, Hook Distance Add Ons etc.. - body blocking shouldn't be one of them.

@smappdooda Someone got hooked in the basement, someone came over to save, and the nurse knew where to block to make sure they couldn't get out. Isn't rocket science.

Be careful, apparently if you explain this to people you got a ton of vote downs in this thread...

  • @Milo said:

@BoredByDaylight ... How is that cheating exactly? Is survivor bodycblocking a killer from hooking cheating now?

Also sorry for my english but you didn't answer my quetion too.

Yes, it is! The game wasn't made with the intention to body block. I find it hilarious people think it's part of the game, kind of sad really.

I love all the vote downs i'm getting, really demonstrates the mindset of the children who play this game.

  • @Milo said:

    @BoredByDaylight Don't.

Also how did the match went. Did the killer down any people before Endgame?

Your english is terrible. There is no excuse for this behaviour in the game. If you can't sacrifice a single player by the time EGC starts you should accept the defeat instead of resulting in cheating.

  • @Milo said:

Good question is why were they both there from the start?

    Basement rescue.

  • @smappdooda said:

Here is my question: why were two survivors hanging out or running into that area with no escape to get in that situation to begin with? Seems like really bad planning on their part to me.

    Basement rescue.

  • I'm a killer main and this is 100% not okay. Another example of poor map design by BHVR.

I can't believe how many vote downs you got for this post as well as the comments defending the behaviour when this is legit abusing the game and is no fun for either side. Just goes to show the mindset of the dbd community.

  • Why the hell isn't there an option/mode to play a 'casual' match. As a rank 1-5 killer main I hate playing against SWF who are all rank 1-2 survivors that know every map and every loop location and can plan and coordinate their perk slots. It is so frustrating chasing survivors who run from loop to loop. It's also unfair they are able to discuss the match. What perks the killer has, where he is on the map, who's going to rescue the player on the hook, who's doing what gen etc...

I think gameplay would be much more balanced if they introduced a casual mode with random matchmaking and no parties.

  • Could this be the 'something new' everyone or at least a few people have been waiting for?

Don't know why you have so many vote downs. It definitely will draw players away from this game because it'll be polished and balanced unlike Dbd. The devs need to learn how to fix the problems in the game to stand a chance at competing. I'm Level 83 Devotion 1, Rank 3 Killer currently (was 1 yesterday), have the PS4 Platinum trophy, and have unlocked all killer perks and I am so fed up with Dbd.

  • @gantes said:

    Bye. You won't be missed.

I wouldn't expect to be missed by a stranger on a forum lol... and for the record I won't miss the game. The funny thing is, a lot of players and doing the same so BHVR would be stupid not to care, unhappy customers is bad business 101.

  • With how the hatch spawns now being 5Gens-(Number of Remaining Survivors) the skeleton key really sucks.

If 1 survivor dies and you've completed 4 gens you can open it still?

If 2 survivors die and you've completed 3 gens you can open it still?

If 3 survivors die and you've completed 2 gens you can open it still?

What do you want to happen? The hatch to appear as soon as the game starts so you can escape? Please tell me the fun in that.

  • Man my phone glitched out and posted the same comment multiple times and I can't delete them? Anyone know how you can delete the posts?

  • @smappdooda said:

I only play this at my friends place on his PS4. I am a PC gamer and there is NO WAY I would play this on PC due to the toxic BS that goes on. He is a survivor main and I am a killer main. We both try to play fair and have a good time. We have been playing for about 2 years now and there have been some questionable changes on both sides but it seems the killers get it in the neck more often. The higher in ranks you go, the less fun this game gets. I would LOVE to play matches without SWF being a fear or having to have certain perks or use certain killers to guarantee even a 1k.

The only reason I bothered to post this is so you guys know yer not alone on this and to let the devs know there are people out there who feel this game could be so much better than it is. Being a game developer is a thankless job for sure, but there comes a time when you need to look at the community and the "numbers".

Thanks for your comment,I appreciate you responding and sharing your experience. I glad you agree!

Ranks 1-6 killer here & I am with you 110% on this and feel every bit of your pain.

I started playing this game a day after console release, and absolutely loved it. No one relied on pallets, looping, hardly anyonr camped, it was just a much more enjoyable and tense experience.

As of two days ago, after grinding every killer to ATLEAST prestige two on both consoles with a few being P3 50, and just really putting time in, I had to uninstall it.

Practically noone plays solo anymore, it's nonstop SWF on mics, giving away your position and every move, non stop looping (some looping is fine but Christ when it starts to feel like an episode of Scooby Doo it's time to stop), literally just running from pallet to pallet with no cat-and-mouse gameplay, and unchecked and rampant toxicity...it's too much now: the fun to frustrating scale is WAY out of balance. With each update, each killer feels weaker and weaker... i mean how tf are you gonna make nearly all killers base speed & vault speed SLOWER than survivors, while giving them infinites and endless pallets? Not only that, but since the Plague release, they spawn ALL 4 SURVIVIRS WITH EACH OTHER AT A GEN DESPITE ANY OFFERINGS! It's damn near unwinnable.

I mean they reduced the number of pallets back in October, but what happened? Raised the animation speed of the pallet slam so its just awkward to try and see if you can swing through. With that said there are 8 minimum per stage...and noone drops it right away so it essentially feels like 16 pallets per stage.

Don't even get me started on the 18976638394 survivor crutch perks.

Swf wouldn't really be bad if they weren't able to communicate at all.

Loops are a direct result of absolute GARBAGE map designs. I don't care how many mind games you try and play, 4k's are getting rarer and rarer.

We shouldn't be forced to use certain perks or the only top 3 killers just to counter loops or crutch perks in order to have, how tf is that "balance"?

I'm sorry for the rant, but it just really irks the hell out of me with what happened to this game in the 2 years I have been playing. I mean, even if I decided to derank and stay in lower ranked matches thats 1) not fair to the true low ranked players and 2) i'll be mocked for doing it.

I'm glad you share my frustrations! I completely agree with everything you've said. I think you hit the nail on the head with your comment 'the fun to frustration scale is way out of balance'. That's the best way to describe it.

This game really is going downhill fast and it's such a shame because I love the concept so much. Would be interesting to have an option to play with 0/1 perk.

On another note, I just saw the news about Predator: Hunting Grounds. I think my prayers have been answered!

It is not reportable since there is a definite end to it. After four minutes, you would either bleed out or get sacrificed by the End Game Collapse. It would only be considered holding the game hostage if there is no foreseeable end.

So based on this logic looping should be reportable? Especially if you're not using any counter perks or killers. I've had so many games as a Rank 1 - 5 killer of getting looped over and over. Survivors just hide behind objects and vault over windows religiously, moving to the next loop area again and again. It's not fun or fair and is not how the game was intended to be played. Have never witnessed it in any horror movie i've seen, have you?
