Probably this would make him viable but I dont see devs buff killers like this that much like the most buffed ones are stronger ones like wesker or they still suck even when they are two times stronger like nemi, trapper.

I fear he would end up just like pyramidhead.

Devs have buffed weak killers before sure might take a few iterations but as long as we all agree and ask they will buff him

  • @cogsturning said:

I don't care about this class at all, I never use it myself, but there has to be incentives to make people play survivor in this mode. Killer seems to be doing just fine, judging by the queues.

We have had enough iterations where I would like to see the stats for kill rates and pick rates for classes and killers

  • @not_Queef said:

If they insist on keeping the class as is, then they should limit each class to two instances per team.

Killers can't have two Shadows, why do survivors get four Escapists?

But yeah, I'd much rather they rethink this class because playing Trapper, I'd rather pummel my giblets with a meat hammer than play against four Escapists.

I think that's what there gonna do when they have a bit more variety of survivor classes just limit it to 2 per class

It's not just a meta thing, it's also a fun thing, imo. I think BHVR would be able to attract Killers to play their mains as long as the experience is fun and unique enough. It's definitely impossible to equalise the powers though, I agree with that.

For example, I like playing Trapper in 1V4 but I wouldn't dream of playing him in 2V8. Partly because if I'm waiting 20 minutes for a game, I feel I should pick something stronger so my teammate doesn't have to hard carry us. But also because he's a map control Killer and the maps are simply way too big for that play style to feel satisfying to me. He's not strong but he's also not fun. He's a good option for those Survivor duos where one half doesn't play a lot of Killer but they still want to join their friend for a couple of rounds.

On the other hand, I can definitely see Slinger mains still having a blast playing him in 2V8 despite not being a strong choice, because he's different enough to the 1V4 version to be appealing to them. Wesker just happens to be both fun and very strong for 2V8, which pushes his popularity even higher. I don't think many other Killers can tick both of these boxes in 2V8.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4079618#Comment_4079618

He's always been incredibly popular in 2V8. The bugs this time around just add to the frustration factor of seeing him so often.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4079622#Comment_4079622

I don't play Wesker myself, but I have played the others and I guess what I really meant to say is that his power seems very straight forward compared to the other strong Killers in the mode, with (comparatively speaking) no obvious downsides or as severe a learning curve.

I think if your Wesker Kill rate is anywhere near 60% you are doing just fine. I think the more you play a Killer, the more accurate your MMR becomes and the harder it gets to push past a certain performance level. You are probably better than you think you are. I know my own personal kill rates are kinda "fake", anyway. I have a habit of letting the final Survivor go when I win and I rarely walk away from a trial with less than a 1K (over time, that evens out at a 50% Kill rate and is the same for all my mains). I also play fairly casually with perks I enjoy and mostly by the "rule book", so I know I could push it higher if I really wanted to.

So I go by average hooks instead, which puts Billy and Chucky at the top with 7.89 and 7.88 followed by Legion and Trapper with 7.27 and 7.11. Trapper actually has my highest Kill rate because of his ability to win trials instantly on occasion. Scott Jund made a pretty good recent video explaining why Trapper is weirdly simultaneously one of the strongest and weakest Killers in the game. There is a lot of nuance to Kill rates, imo.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4079647#Comment_4079647

I like your incentive idea. Variety is less of a problem in 1V4 because there are 40+ Killers. (I assume) most players are in mid MMR, where every Killer can do well and feel viable. But I still think there is a problem with Killer variety at the extremes in 1V4. Low MMR is chock full of free Killers like Trapper, Huntress and Wraith, alongside the bottom tier Killers like Ghostie and Legion. This was alleviated a little bit by the Killer daily challenges encouraging players to play Killers that they're a bit crap with (big mistake to have gotten rid of these, imo).

They're solving the issue in top MMR by adding lots of very strong Killers, but I honestly don't know what we're doing making Blight 110%. All that's doing is saying to BHVR that we want to face more Ghouls in top MMR 1V4.

But I digress, something to sweeten the deal to encourage more Killer variety could work for 2V8. Might even help the queues a little, since it could tempt some players away from queuing up to play Wesker for a game or two.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4079770#Comment_4079770

I guess one approach would be to throw absolutely everything at the wall to see what sticks and accept the risk of adding things to 2V8 that might get a Marmite response from players. I suspect easy to add Killers like Clown and Trickster wouldn't get much of a warm welcome but then who knows, maybe they would actually work OK for 2V8? Maybe even Ghoul would be fine. None of these Killers have the unique potential to annoy an entire lobby the way that Legion could.

The only way to know for sure is to try it and find out. But then you run the risk of adding a Killer that gets so many complaints BHVR feel they need to remove them and they lose a bit of good will from both sides in the fallout (I'm still annoyed we lost The Legion).

I worry that 2V8 has prematurely left this experimental phase because it's become way more successful than BHVR ever expected it to be (especially with the casual Survivor crowd). It's made them take a more cautious approach with what Killers they add because they don't want to potentially derail the 2V8 hype train. Short term that might be the right call, but in the long term I think that decision might prove fatal. That said, so long as DBD still attracts new players who will always find the experience to be novel, it has a future. If that's the focus then none of this matters, but I think veteran players might begin to tire of 2V8 before long if they don't keep adding content or find a way to promote variety.

Ha ha! You know, I do enjoy doing impressions of him to myself when I play, so if there's one good thing about him it's that.

    "Paaaaw performance, indeeeeed."

Funny enough I play trapper and most of the time it's a blast since most of the survivors are casuals they really don't pay attention to my traps sure I get some matches with competent players and I'm blitzed but the casuals outweigh the pro players in the mode

  • @JFF said:

I see him in most of my 2v8 matches, and as you mentioned his power is fairly easy to use and with the built in slowdown makes him a popular pick, especially with the bug on top of it.

The only solution is to either nerf him or buff other less popular killers. But then again buffing other killers won't guarantee that he will be picked less. I think the only choice is to give him a slight nerf.

We can also keep adding more killers to the pool so we don't have to see him as often sure he's popular but this helps dilute the Wesker concentration

I dont see him do that good here like he would need massive buffs or he would end up like pyramidhead almost same as in 1v4.
He has too hit two times to get injure so his cooldown would need to be lower like for 3 seconds and his tp clones would get wipe out by double of survivors and his cooldowns for tp clones spawn and tps cooldown would need massive reduction on cooldown.

Otherwise he would be harmless there and way worse than huntress or slinger which damage instantly and get along with other killers.

This is where the fun begins with buffing him he would need 3x the number of clone capacity and spawning speed and his teleport cooldown greatly reduced and his UVX would need to be able to fire every 5 seconds

There we go he's now good

  • @Science_Guy said:

Whoa, you're getting getting 70% Onis? I'll trade you my 70% Weskers, and you can even have my 50% Nemesis for free.

I'd take that trade Wesker has more fair counterplay then Oni

  • @Mikeadatrix said:

I think he's overtuned for sure but he's genuinely one of two if maybe three killers in 2v8 who can keep up with the 4 Escapist Meta currently. Buff Trapper, PH, Spirit, and Ghost Face and add some of the nerfs you suggested and increase the cooldown on the AOE sprint burst and I truly think we'd be in a good place.

This does seem like a good route to go although for buffs I'd replace spirit for slinger

  • While I do think Wesker is fairly popular however I think Oni is the top poster boy currently he's in 70% percent of matches because he's Meta S tier in this mode

  • Krause is decently strong but her gameplay is boring so nobody plays her. Her nerfs made her clunky to use and her infection game is non-existent

  • We exist however we been needing an update for a long time now

  • @TWiXT said:

Scott thinks he'd be boring because his "Power" isn't unique, I think Scott doesn't understand where Jason's True strength lies.

Everyone knows Jason's 4 key abilities:

    1. Brute Strength - In the movies he's walked through closed doors/walls, picked up people in sleeping bags to smash against trees, even crushed a guys head with is bare hands to the point his eyes pop out. No Doubt Jason is very Strong.
    2. Immortality - No matter how much abuse or damage he takes, he always gets back up to kill again, even if he's dismembered, decapitated, frozen buried, blown up… He always comes back for the slaughter.
    3. Relentlessness - Once he wants you dead, he pursues until he gets you. Undeterred, untiring, unmatched in his sole objective to kill. He always finds you no matter where you are, as if he has a 6th sense for it, and no matter how slow he moves, you can neither run nor hide from this fiend.
    4. Surprise - Jason is overwhelmingly good at appearing when you least expect and killing off your friends without you ever becoming aware until it's too late. Even if you think you lost him, he's just around the corner waiting for you.

These aspects have all been done, and to a degree, Scott is right, but there is still 1 thing everyone overlooks about Jason that I believe could prove to be fun:

    5. Improvisation - Jason, actually, doesn't have a "Favorite weapon". Many believe its the Machete, because he uses them so often, but honestly… He uses whatever he finds lying around, and worse, He's good at using them. Baseball Bats, Oars, Knives, Corkscrews, Claw Hammers, Sledge Hammers, Rocks, Weights, Snares, Bear Traps, Throwing Axes, Chopping Axes, Throwing Knives, Javelins, Boat Hooks, Bows, Ropes, Chains, Knives, Harpoon Guns, you get the picture; Just literally anything that can be used to kill, he puts to work.

Now Imagine, you start a match and Jason has nothing in his hands, or maybe just a machete for his standard M1 melee attacks, but then he walks over to a locker, opens it, and SURPRISE… Now he has a Bow with 1 arrow good for an insta down! Or maybe he has a big ol Oar in both hands with double the normal Melee range? What if while he's chasing you, you suddenly end up in a Snare? How crazy of a concept does that sound?

To me, Jason has the potential of being the only killer capable of short, mid, and long range attacks as well as trap placing… And if done right with some limitations on spawn rate of these weapons + RNG, no one would ever know what new toy he found in a locker until he attacks. I think it would be lots of fun if they brought him into the game using this overlooked aspect as his Prime Ability.

    Would you play him?

I would have to think if he was a weapon switcher just weapons spawns around the map would they be infinite or one time use if like the bow was one time use would it respawn over time or no

Why do you care what Scott says?

I don't I saw his argument and I brought it here for people to discuss I think he is wrong

  • @Mikeadatrix said:

I like Scott, he has good takes most of the time. He is dead wrong about Jason and he even admitted the only film he's seen is F13pt2 and then some clips here and there. He also said that the F13 game did a good job but said that if BHVR were to copy them it would be lame. I don't agree with that. Jason has been shown in other media (MKX) to teleport through the mist and fog and use various weapons which would make him a very unique addition to the game.

I trust BHVR on this one, there's no reason they wouldn't do a good job with him.

    Hmm well said

  • @GeneralV said:

In my opinion, he is wrong.

Jason is THE slasher. That alone is enough for him to be added.

Agreed, however even if he was just a regular m1 killer and nobody played him as long as he exists in game that is fine?

  • You need more Survivors then Killers there's plenty of Killers but not enough Survivors that's why

  • You can but usually people who do that or try to get your attention is usually because they got Dead hard and Decisive Strike ready

nah. if any killer approaches the meta that is good at liberally injuring survivors, the survivor meta will adapt and start incorporating more medics.

we aren't in a medic meta so the class is kind of just just there as an afterthought. fill Escapist first then fill the rest. the easy injuries will naturally bring about more medic double heal resets. congrats on biting 5 people, now 2 of them clicked a button and they're full hp.

if people are playing medic, some killers may feel like playing Pyramid Head.

No the actual outcome would be an outcry on removing ghoul because majority hates him and Devs will listen and it will just be a repeat of legion. Oni is already on the verge of getting removed as is adding ghoul would just make things worse.

  • @TheMruczek said:

Pyramid Head's projectile needs to be faster and he himself shouldn't be this clunky overall, not just in 2v8.

For 2v8, since every time you try to use his m2 survivors hold W to another loop that's 2m away, i propose wider projectile and less cooldown for shooting it.

I definitely think the punishment of the damned needs the Velocity to be faster it's very slow and reactable also needs shorter miss cooldowns it's very punishing for missing

SSHV only"validates" hits after a certain ping threshold, which is extremely generous

Yeah, the treshold is extremely high. I even think that it is way higher than needed. I can understand why it is high, simply because BHVR does not provide Servers everywhere and otherwise Killers would not get hits all the time (not a problem with P2P btw back in the day…).

But I also have the feeling that you will need to have 500 Ping+ or something like that to get affected negatively by Hit Validation. It might not even exist at this point, I have faced a lagswitching Wesker whose Ping spiked up to around 600 when using his power and I always got set back to the position where his game had me without fail. So I think that there is no Server-Sided Hit Validation in place, because a Ping that high should clearly not favor the Killer.

That's crazy cause with Wesker currently even with good ping his dash grab still hits you all the way from Zimbabwe

  • Knight while I do think he should be added eventually he wouldn't really even be that good when added sure you send a guard out to target 1 survivor but now your just an m1 killer against 7 other survivors.

Unless they make some changes like allowing knight to have all his guards out on the field he's gonna be at the bottom of the barrel with Slinger and Pyramid Head

  • Legion was able to keep the whole lobby injured while also getting final frenzy downs often he was seriously unfun to play against.

The only way I could see him getting back in is with a total power rework or a Skull merchant treatment

  • @random1543 said:

Ive been having this issues more so with windows.

I think it is, as it can be a form of gameplay expression which the game has very little of already. Unless they are adding emotes in I see no reason to punish survivors for t-bagging.

What about the people who t-bag each other to say hi? or are t bagging approaching gens together, we only have so many ways to talk to our fellow survs in solo Q, "Punishing" this is going to make this killer hated.

But to be fair I don't know how this power works, I'm just going off people telling me "They punish you for spamming crouch".

Did they confirm it only punishes in general or while the killer is near?

If the Legion still gets a resounding no, then fair enough, they shouldn't be in the mode. With this Survey BHVR had a real chance to ask the wider community their views on Legion being in 2V8 and they didn't take it. Just a weird anti-democratic choice to flat out refuse to put them into the mix, imo.

The anti-BMing aspect of this killer is nothing short of embarrassing. They really caved to people crying about tbagging. It doesn't even make sense from a narrative perspective. The survivors are sinful for squatting and pointing, but they're also innocent people trapped in a hellish nightmare trying not to be murdered, so how sinful all they, really?

The anti bm mechanic aint really a problem though? The sin if full can only get exiled if you're downed, if your at the gates that doesn't matter tbag and BM all you want and as long as you don't do it during a match it's no problem

  • Hmm I wouldn't be opposed but I wouldn't really consider mortal kombat horror more like gorey and who would the killer be from the entire roster Scorpion? Noob Saibot? Mileena? Shang Tsung? Shao Khan?

Yep. I'm not one to exaggerate with that "I see it every match" but I've had a killer running a slugging build and going exclusively for full team slugs about once every ten survivor matches lately, and it's damn near uncounterable in soloq. But yeah, no anti-slug on the horizon. Somehow it's fine for 80% of the players in a match to be miserable and for the 20% to circumvent normal gameplay.

Everyone said FT was just an excuse and it was. The new excuse is every single perk that activates upon hooking. Looking forward to the next excuse when all those get nerfed too.

Which is why we need to shift power away from slugging, perks like Infectious fright and Forced hesitation need to be changed to injures instead of downs and Slugging Killers like Oni, Twins and Bubba need to be changed away from slugging as well.
