@DarKStaR350z Lol if that's true that's pretty sad. Battlefield 2042 can have 128 players in a match (including filling empty spots with AI), but Dead By Daylight can't do 5 players and 3 AI? Yikes.
@gammatsunami Oof. Ya that constant skipping would give me a headache.
The frostbite engine generally sucks to be fair, just play Battlefront 2 and count how long you can go without a major bug. But I agree whatever BHVR did to the Unreal engine they are using is just horrendous, the amount of spaghetti and legacy code this game is running on must be horrifying. These problems can likely be sourced to the condition of the game when it first released, DBD was never imagined to grow as big as it has they never planned for it, were rushed during development by starbreeze, and as new employees have come in and the need to push DLC, cosmetics, and now Battle-passes these technical issues just keep piling on
How many unreal engine upgrades have they gone through so far?

It endlessly amuses me that as the killer main I have more empathy for that screwed survivor than the survivor team itself. If I see a dude just insta-unhook a survivor I just put up and they aren't in a team or have BT
https://youtu.be/9w4H-91TVUAYou best believe I'm gonna get you because that survivor they just screwed over could be me (If I ever cared to play surv), I'll drop the whole game just to get you

We have like 10 of these discussions a day, the survivor’s you’re talking about generally don’t frequent this site.
People still act like we are in the days of De-Pip squad and Ochido's fanbase, that there is this collective of survivors who only live to drop pallets on killer heads and do the crouch and nod. DBD occasionally has a toxic atmosphere but the amount of times I see a person take one or two bad matches and stretch those players into a representation of the ENTIRE PC AND CONSOLE POPULATION are staggering. What's worse is those discussions that preemptively call those "mains" out, the bad faith arguments on the forums and elsewhere are just tedious to read after a while

Hah, his posts remind me of the folks I would often run into from the Battlefront 2 days, he's actually quite tame compared to many of them, lol

This perk is so annoying, every killer who can't play properly brings it to make survivors loose time doing nothing interesting. Someone will be found quickly since everyone would move towards the killer, that prevents any sort of stealth or ability from survivors to have any chance to escape
The perk does too much for a killer and it requires zero skill, it should be toned down and have less seconds. Too many killers bring it, it should ring a bell
I use Corrupt Intervention because its consistent and perfectly jives with my playstyle, it gives me just enough time to set up traps, portals, stalk, make a check of the map, and get into a chase its a powerful perk but one that can be countered by simply going to another generator my friend
It just locks down a section of the map's gens if you are waiting at a inactive gen for 2 minutes its not the perk's fault it is yours. Simply move on to a generator and when the two minutes are up the killer is down to three perks, one of which is likely BBQ so he's probably just got one or two chase perks. Adapt and stop crouching around the edge of the map with urban evasion and learn how to optimally loop

The BP bonus hurts perk diversity in the game because the reward for using the perk is massive. It makes it so much easier to get the survivor pudding as well, so the BP bonus is more than 2 times regular. And I do feel that getting that much BP does hurt the overall balance of the game because it means killers can bring in pink and purple add-ins every game. Imagine if survivors were all running 4 BNPs every game, why is it fair for killer but that same scenerio is obviously broken for survivor.
The last thing the game needs is more artificial extended grinding. The BP bonus of BBQ and chili should stay and for that matter "We're Gonna Live Forever" should be given a buff to make it easier to gain stacks, a safe hook rescue should grant two stacks. That's the only change that needs to be done in this scenario if WGOLF has issues compared to BBQ it needs to be buffed to BBQ's caliber
Nothing more, nothing less
-
I'll usually let the last survivor go if it gets to that, unless of course they did something dumb like hook farm a team-mate, leave em to die first hook, or was just being off. I'll be darned if I let them live after that and I'll generally give the hatch to the survivor I downed, though I also do that most of the time I leave a survivor slugged for more than a minute or two
But yeah if it was an overwhelmingly unbalanced match the Myers was either being sweaty or just wanted to get out of the game and requeue into a better one which is fair

And Deathslinger's just a crippled Irish Cowboy with a complicated Spear-Gun!
Unfair it is I tell ye

The entity would have to manage both Freddy and the Dream Demons who give him his power. The Deadites from Evil Dead apparently know about the place and can go there with incantation, I imagine any lore reason could be satisfied simply by Freddy choosing to go to the place like Michael did

Dead hard for distance is by far the best exhaustion perk. Every other exhaustion perk has a downside and/or a counter. Dead hard has neither when used for distance.
I'd like to see that instead of being activated that it gives you a sprint burst when you get hit. Think about those times when you get hit just before you use sprint burst and you run super super fast for like 3 seconds? It should do that. This solves the problem of "Dead hard for distance" being uncounterable, because now you can abandon the chase, like you can with other perks. Additionally, people will stop complaining about "exhausted on the ground"
In the hands of a novice, yes. The real reason Dead Hard is used so often is because it is the easiest stamina perk to use after those nerfs to Balanced landing. In the hands of a skilled player(s) that know what they are doing Sprint burst as well as Lithe are very strong. The reason you don't see Sprint burst very often is because of the penalty, most players don't know how to deal with the movement penalty or use the speed effectively so they'll waste it running to a generator or worse combo it with Urban evasion.
If you nerf Dead Hard all you will do is get people to switch to Lithe or Sprint burst, and when players finally get over that hump its gonna be pretty annoying having those be the meta let me tell ya. Its the same thing that happened when BL got nerfed and likewise for killers we just move on to the next best perk what will we do then, demand a nerf again? All we do by doing this is kill the variety of the game even further by making the meta more and more rigid, perks should be strong on both sides it gives the players agency
And Dead Hard is nowhere near as strong as it used to be thanks to the map changes. It can't clear a survivor from a dead-zone, it can't buy them an escape from a generator, nor save them if they are caught in a empty field its designed purely for pallet looping and nothing more

No he doesn't, there was nothing skillful about spamming his chainsaw, especially right after missing a survivor plenty of times and still be able to use his base one hit down attack with zero consequences.
What other killer enjoyed to move around the map that fast, with a one hit down attack as his base kit and still get to enjoy to use his ability right away.
Old Billy even with the sweatiest of Insta-Saw builds was nowhere near a spammer, if you screwed up on the saw you were screwed. He was not a killer you could just pick up and dominate with there was a ton of mechanical skill, map and looping knowledge needed to perform well with him. He had one of the highest skill ceilings in the game, if not the highest since he doesn't ignore mechanics or just be lame like Nurse and Spirit respectively

I just wish there WAS some way to balance it. The best killer versus the best survivors, survivors surely win. And yeah, it would be nice if they were separated.
I wouldn't say surely at all, now back in the old days of the De-Pip squad, old maps, old item balance, old animations, I'd agree with ya but nowadays things are far more balanced. I do agree BHVR's MM and rank system has always had issues (
Still better than destiny 2 crucible though lol)But things have been improving and a lot of the old bad maps are getting replaced with better versions, I wish that some killers had a reduced chance of getting maps that would be horrible for them such as Huntress on the Game but that would probably result in a number of other issues
This has been the way for many years
-
Yeah I know the feeling about getting bad maps multiple times in a row, its why I do wish sometimes that map offerings and BP offerings occupied different slots. But that is the nature of RNG and sometimes you have to suffer through the bad luck or forego BP and slap on a map offering
Also making the game go more towards killer wouldn't fix anything it would just be an inverse the game should never be tilted in favor of the other side because one of them is having a bad time. The game should always be neutral and attempt the best balance for both sides, what you suggest would simply punish survivors that had nothing to do with the previous games
-
@dspaceman20 said:
I would say limit the number of time you can use dead hard. Maybe 2 or 3 times max.
But a usage cap wouldn't change anything about DH mechanically. The only a cap would do is just punish survivors for being able to survive and make it through multiple chases, as well further limiting their manuel input in chases. More importantly it would just "feel" bad.
@Brokenbones said:
Here's how I think the devs would change it if they had to
They'd make it automatic aka the first time the killer swings at you and if that swing would hit you auto-dead hard.
The only reason they'd do this is to address 'DH for distance' which is what everyone complains about DH for and calls it unfair/no counterplay and so on.
A automatic feature would just feel really bad, not only would it be annoying for the killer but it would probably just screw the survivor by having it send them into a wall or a completely opposite direction. Plus there would be a lot of jank as to what would "register" as a hit that would connect or not
-
Anyone who thinks it needs a nerf in the current sandbox is just being absurd. Even back when there used to be double pallets and super strong back to back jungle gyms that was a map and RNG problem rather then something to do with the perk. With the current dead-zones, reduced pallet count, and nerfs to so many stamina perks anyone that wants a nerf to DH is just being salty
-
I just like to play as the big monster and chase people
The closest I have to a main are Trapper, Wraith, Myers, and Doctor but I switch between killers all the time both to freshen the game, preserve add-ons, build up BP, and because I like to mess around with perks
For slow-down perks I almost always take Corrupt intervention because its consistent, changes the map in a active way, and its just so nice to have. I never take Hex Perks with the exception of Devour hope every now and than because I just don't care for RNG and find Hexes passive and boring
I'm pretty chill nowadays with my playstyles, I can still get aggravated from time to time but it just ain't worth it to let it get under one's skin. Because when the match ends the only thing that can affect you is how you feel your performance, its way more fun to screw with the toxic (love) people than play on their turf. The game itself is much less toxic now than when I started playing and its a great thing. I play pretty fair I'm interested in my own fun and the fun of others, as long as they play fair I'll play fair. In that regard I suppose I'm more reactionary than setting off with any real plan
-
We'll likely get a Haddonfield rework with the New Halloween
-
Anyway as for all seeing blood its quite memey and a bit situational but pretty strong if you build for it. I don't use it that much but when I do its always pretty fun even if its not as dynamic as the other add-ons
-
Never really cared for the Prestige cosmetics so I only went prestige 1 on Trapper, Myers, and Doctor, maybe Bubba. I'd have to go back and look but for the rest I just kept at level 50
Felt like so much of a hassle just getting a decent build back up that I didn't bother a second or third time
-
DBD's Bloodstained Sack DLC could be considered loosely canon going by the description
"It started as a whisper in the trees, a rippling swish in the water. Then the earth started to rumble with a deep moan, turning into a raging tremor. The evil within the fog was losing motivation, chasing and killing endlessly in the same uniform. Did the Entity hear their plea? Were they rewarded because of the countless sacrifices they fed the Entity? No one knows for sure how and why it appeared but it isn't far-fetched to think of it as a token of gratitude: a shapeless thing, soaked in blood, holding unholy gifts for the creatures of nightmares."
-
It wouldn't really affect me other than making matchmaking more random and probably more difficult to balance around perhaps

As a nearly 750 hour killer and 30 hour survivor i just realised that i made my biggest mistake of my gaming life when decided to main killer. Playing survivor is much more relaxing (what is the point of a video game) and rewarding (as being the power role). I just wanna shout out to all killer mains to try survivor, and have a relaxing Dead by Daylight experience. The time of killers is over, the time of survivors has come! Best wishes!
If I had a penny for how many times I've seen the contents of an upcoming update get revealed, and the population immediately screamed "Being a killer main is over! The age of the Survivor main has come"
I'd be the owner of the Auric Cell store
That said, the autoban system seems quite a bit worrisome, I'm hoping its just a slighty better anti-cheat system when it comes out and isn't something worse but I'll reserve judgement till then. But the last thing I'm going to do is x amount of time in advance, if the change is bad I'll simply stop playing till they fix it rather than rebuild my entire reason for playing the game

hello everyone, i am a new player i got dbd about 3 weeks ago and i am just wondering how people think this game is survivor sided? killer seems way easier and way stronger than survivors
The big advantage of being a killer is that everything is up to you, you don't have to rely on team-mates doing generators, good at looping, working together its all up to you and that provides a lot of agency. The survs have to deal with the chaos you create, but that can also turn into a downside for the killer. In a good team a member can make a mistake and can rely on their friends to aid them and help them out of it, when the killer makes a mistake its up to them to overcome it, but at the same time its still solely within the killer's hands which is still an advantage against the team play. Because for the surv that made a mistake that one or second mistake could be entirely fatal for them, where as for the killer no matter how many pallets you eat they can only be delayed.
Its what help makes the killer side stronger starting out, additionally there is the fact new players get scared quite easily and the game never tells you how to loop let alone optimally. So that contributes in new survivors just running in straight lines which is perfect for the killer because they will always catch them, or worse the urban evasion clauds and davids
I hope you continue to have fun in the game!

To be FAIR - and trust me, I despise Survivors more than anyone - Mori is "toxic" and does more than "save hook time" because Survivors have a PLETHORA of things they can do between point A and point B to stop that hook from happening.
THAT BEING SAID, this plethora of things that Survivors can do is completely obscene and needs to be changed. You could down Survivors 100 times in a game and get 0 hooks. It's offensive. Survivor strength needs to be literally halved.
And - of course - keys are also "toxic". And way more so than Mori's.
To be FAIR - and trust me, I despise Survivors more than anyone
Jeez man, you need to take a chill pill. If you are getting to the point where you despise survivors and despise them more than anyone you really need to take a rest from the game. That kind of resentment and bitterness is just gonna kill the game and any enjoyment you can get out of it for you real quick, if not already
Its not a good thing to have for you

You need 4x as many Survivors as you do Killers to start a game.
My Killer queue times are about a minute. Every day. Consistently. In fact, I just had one less than 30 seconds.
It's in the math, friends.
Enough is enough.
Enough words.
Enough redirections.
Enough fallacies.
Queue time for Killer is NOTHING.
Because there are PLENTY of Survivors to go around.
Playing Survivor is free real estate. Everyone knows it. Everyone shows it by what they play.
Take a balance-designed game like CSGO or LoL. Now imagine if you always had to play the team that had 4 people, and your friend always had to play the team that had 1 person. Who do you think would ALWAYS get their games first?
But yet, in DBD, it's the exact opposite. Killer queue times are FASTER. Even though they should be the exact opposite, SLOWER.
How much more do you need??? I am actually asking you this. YOU. You, personally, Guy Who Keeps Saying Game Balance is Fine.
What does it take for you to admit it? If even the sheer, raw math doesn't crack your shell? Do you need god himself to peek out from the clouds and be like, "YES. YES, INDEEDETH, SURVIVOR IS FREE WINS IN DEAD BY DAYLIGHT! NOW AWAY I GO!"
What in god's FREAKING name does it TAKE for you lot to just ADMIT it??????
Enough WORDS. Enough DEBATING or ARGUING.
It's RIGHT the FRICK THERE. It's IN the NUMBERS. It's IN the MATH.
4:1 player ratio and the 1 has faster queues.
GET. REAL.
The playerbase knows it.
EVERYONE KNOWS IT.
STOP.
SAYING.
ANYTHING ELSE.
I just can't take it anymore. Human delusion LITERALLY knows no bounds. There is NO LIMIT to what people will tell themselves.
Somebody help me. Legitimately. How do I cope with this? Why does it even upset me so much???

My personal rule is just to have fun and not be a sweat, so my playstyle is the one I would like to play against. If a unhooked survivor bumps into me I'll knock him down but move on to the other survivors. I play pretty chill like nowadays but That doesn't mean I'm giving off free gifts I show "mercy" only when I can afford it and I'm in a position to because I don't see a reason to sweat in that scenario
But yeah my playstyle is pretty unsweaty

Dead hard, borrowed time, unbreakable, decisive strike.
this is the absolute crutch meta build I've ever seen in this game and it's used a lot.
4 second chance perks? Come on. How can you think you're good when you're using 4 second chance crutch perks?
This build is problematic and it's even worse when all 4 survivors use it. (SWF)
You think those are the ULTIMATE second chance? My boy, you've never seen Mettle of Man in its PRIME that perk left me scarred and deformed but my will has never been stronger!
But no seriously, Dead Hard is just an evasion tactic it relies entirely on the survivor's ability to use it in response to the map environment and the killer's tactics. If he's in a good position to use it than he had good tactical play, its a simple tool nothing more it requires the survivor to use it
As for unbreakable it can be entirely negated by picking the survivor up, if the survivor is greedy and tries to use it with DS simply slugging them and leaving em behind causes them to lose their DS charge, keeps em on the ground and forces them to either use unbreakabill or have another survivor pick em up. Either way they are occupied and its a win win. As for Borrowed time, just go after the other survivor which is what you should do to apply the best tactical pressure
The dude that was on hook has not been pressuring gens and is likely going to heal. Going after an unhook does not slow the game down at all unless the other survs are actively trying to rescue him, what does slow the game down is going after the un-hooker so he can't heal the other dude or return to gens. Which means the unhooked survivor has to either heal himself or have the other two heal him which buys time for you

yeah agreed, they turned the infected into slow zombies which doesn't fit tbh,i can totally see them walking when there's no survivors on sight and it's okay but, after seeing the 4 survivors, they were still walking like mummies
Oh yeah I mean in the L4D menu and whenever there's ambient infected around they mostly just walk about, they only start running when they notice a survivor or something attracts them. A common infected otherwise is never ever slow even when they are weighed down by Body-Armor, Hazmat Suits, or been near shot to pieces
Its one of the key things about L4D2 none of the infected or slow except for the Smoker, Bloater, or Spitter to a degree

only 2 killers are viable against swf
it's not fair at all
You telling me the random group of near drunk college students on a Friday night are unbeatable by all but two killers? Not every SWF is an ultra sweat if you treat every SWF like one, the only ultra sweat in the lobby will be you.
Don't get me wrong a stacked team of sweats is obnoxious and crimge. However it is not a unique DBD problem its something you'll see in nearly every MP game, (don't even get me started on Destiny 2 stacked sweats)
But regardless a fine line has to be drawn when balancing for the average/above average player and the sweats. You have to make sure you don't release mechanics that experienced players can use to burn down the game but you also can't balance entirely for those ultra high ranks
Because pretty soon the only people left playing WILL be those ultra-sweats and you will have accomplished nothing. Its a fine line you gotta pursue its why it is called balance to begin with. Also for pete's sake I've heard that line "Only 2-3 killers are viable against swf" since 2018 and I'm pretty sure it used to just be one (Nurse)
-
I'm totally fine with their appearance but making L4D infected slow is absolutely heretical! L4D infected have always been fast it was never a mutation and pretty much all of the special infected are fast and have great mobility (excluding the Boomer)
I have a feeling they nerfed the infected and the Tank in the memories to fit in with DBD so as to now overshadow DBD's actual killers
-
If I had to say who I mained it would be Trapper, Wraith, Doctor, Myers and Ghostface. I used to play Pig, Bubba and others a lot more and prolly will in the future but those five are the ones I stick with the most
My least favorite and played killers are Deathslinger, Legion, and Pyramid head
