I'm tried of the bad attitude everyone else has in this game. It seems like thousands of players wear a blind fold for the 1--15 games that are good and somehow only notice the one bad game and then cry they only have bad games.
|Loads of people complaining that games are super hard at high MMR (That they can only presume they have) yet at the same time complain they always loose.... however THAT works.
Not to mention you see about 1000 people saying the community is toxic a month but only see 0 to 1 people per month *actually being* toxic. The only bad thing about this community is how mindbogglingly pessimistic it is. Its like Eeyore fell into a cloning machine.
A lot of people definitely take the game super personally. For me, losing a game isn't as bad as losing streaks.
Nobody can see their MMR so I usually take the "I am high MMR" with a few grams of salt.

Plz no, don't make that beast weakling.
What are the Survivors gonna do? Drop a pallet on the guy who makes it his business to step on houses and buildings in the way? The Survivors would have to tip a skyscraper to stun him for a bit hahaha

Godzilla would overpower the Entity and simply destroy everything in the trial.
He would be my new main!

I disagree, I feel like Killers are way slower than they ought to be. But that's just me.

really? it seems to work nigh-flawlessly for me
So far it has seriously prolonged my chases instead of ending them faster. Especially if they're near vaults. I just don't have the map knowledge to really get away with letting pallets rock.

Some of these tips are helpful but "don't break pallets" has thus far proven a horrible idea.

Killer Venting Incoming:
I made it to Iri 1 as killer on PS4. I've never bothered before, but the 1 million BP at the end is just too good an incentive to ignore.
I'd like to do the same on the Nintendo Switch. I need BP on the Nintendo Switch really badly, because I only got DbD on it back when the RE chapter released. So far, I can't even get out of Ash. Killer is that goddamn bad on Switch. I cannot describe the frustration of only landing one out of twenty attempted hits. I'm not joking. I whiff almost every time. The framerate and the sensitivity are just that bad. The only time I got kills were when I cheesed it as Pig and the survivors screwed up, finishing the last gen right after I put a helmet on someone. I was annoyed and petty enough that I then opened the door and followed the RBT'd survivor around so they couldn't search any boxes.
It doesn't matter what killer I try to grade-up as if I can't land basic M1 attacks, so that's not even worth discussing. (I did it using Nemesis on the PS4.)
I guess this is a cross between killer venting and console venting.
Edit: I wish I had some Pyramid Head advice to give, or a vent to share, but I haven't played as him for a long time. I don't enjoy how clunky he feels.
Sounds a lot like what Pulsar was talking about in the "Lack of Console Optimization" department. There was a huge thread about it, but it was mostly about past gen consoles. Unfortunate that the Switch is suffering too.

No now it's just play survivor or you will have a bad time the devs make playing killer an non tolerable aspect and decided instead of fixing just double down on survivor wishes.
Let's not make it all about "us vs them." I did want to make this thread to be able to talk to other people frustrated with Killer in a more centralized thread, but while I do feel BHVR has made a lot of missteps in their balancing, saying it's "The Survivors'" fault is not the way to start making the Killer experience better.

Practice, practice, practice! I get how you feel. Starting out with a new killer is often difficult. But the more you play killer, the more you notice survivor patterns and types of survivors. When I started out with Trapper, all four survivors would often escape. Now I play Freddy, and getting kills is much easier now that I've practiced a lot. Sometimes all four survivors escape because they were just better, but that's okay! It should be motivation to try and get even better so you won't let them out next time. Play aggressive. Don't just let survivors go because you feel bad
I've been playing Pyramid Head since I bought the game, so I wouldn't say I'm new just....not very good haha
I think I can handle losses fine, it's moreso big losing streaks that MMR puts me on that just bog me down.

PyramidHead is rough. I was maining him for a long time, and he is miserably right now. Problems:
1) You tunnel. Just like that. The whole match you pick someone, especially if they get tormented, and tunnel like a crazy person. It can be kinda fun to feel like an unstoppable force, but the problem is that you are stoppable. Also, it's... annoying. In some games, I don't want to tunnel. and many survivors are naive. You cage someone, you see scratch marks in 3 seconds leading to the cage. That's a win, someone just told you where the cage is. Saving from a cage against a pyramid head has to be done both quickly and without actually letting him know where is it. BUT if you learn the cage spawns... well, good luck. And no, it's not that hard. Then again, this playstyle can be very unfun and stressful. And survivors won't like you. But against good survivors, you will still have a miserable time.
2) Your addons suck, there is not a lot of options to spice things up.
3) You are clunky. So hear me out. Because he went through a rework, the way his animations work is NOT how it was intended in the first place, and when you reach high MMR it becomes incredibly miserable. Best way to demonstrate this is shack. You follow a surv into shack, you put your sword down and you should get a guaranteed hit when they vault the window. On high MMR, NO ONE will vault the window. They bait it, and you know it, so you wait and wait until they vault it. They won't. They will exit the door, after faking it once or twice. This is all while you can't really move and can't shoot. It's a mind game that feels miserable.
4) The zoning aspect is unfun. So basically I decided to not care about winning and just have fun shots. I run the recovery addon and the amount of power addons, cornered survs, and basically spammed M2 to learn how that particular survivor evades my shots. After 2-3 misses you can usually adapt, depending on the loop, and hit your shots. Problem with this: It doesn't work against top-tier survivors, they change their evasion pattern. But the main problem is that it's just not the most efficient way. The most efficient is to zone. Put your torment at the loop, surv leaves or pre-drops. next tile. repeat. Incredibly boring.
As much as I wanted to be good at him and main him (I did invest a lot of time into him, even got into top 100, according to the dbd stats), I came to the conclusion that he is just not worth it at the current state.
If you want a bit more time in games to practice chase, use deadlock and/or corrupt
I dunno if him not being worth it rn is a him problem and not more of a general problem with Killers, map design and gen speed as a whole.
If I get a max range Punishment hit it feels like a double edged sword. I got the hit but now I have to waste upwards to a minute just getting back into range.
-
I just simply avoid TTVs
-
The nature of the gameplay gives an illusion that the gameplay is extremely personal. So people take BM to heart all the time. Some people really are out to make your time miserable just to make themselves feel better.
-
I'm sure someone has said this but while I enjoy Killer more than Survivor I am hesitant to play the role because of how all or nothing the experience feels right now. Playing Killer more consistently would help but today my matches went like
Game with 1k because I had to camp for it.
Game with 4k
Game with 1k because I had to tunnel for it
Game with 1k again, Springwood
Game with 4k (1 DC, 3 kills)
Game with 3k (1 DC, 2 kill, 1 hatch escape)
Game with 2k (2 DC, I let the other two Survivors go)
It just feels like every game is either going to be a stomp in my favor or me sweating my recently re-buffed ass off to get a kill at all. Any stomp after the initial whupping feels like a pity win.
I just do not feel like I am playing at consistent levels. Just be bounded back and forth between survivors who ate considerably weaker than me and survivors who are considerably better than me. If I didn't let the last two go it would have been another 3k guaranteed and potential 4k.
I enjoy when I make good plays with Pyramid Head but it really feels like eventually I'll just be punished for it, even if the system isn't intended to be like that.
Edit: this isn't to say I couldn't just continue to get better and climb to new heights but the difficulty spikes rn for any sort of improvement feels too harsh

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/306226/just-bad-luck-or-too-many-pallets
Picking a killer that can ignore or circumvent pallets is a must. If you're rocking Myers or Ghostface, you're getting either pre-palleted till the cows come home, or if they're a good looper, lapped several times and then pallet stunned till the cows come home.
Either way, the cows are coming home.
The unfortunate thing is I am playing a killer that can circumvent them but I'm still struggling with pallets a lot. I'm not able to callout Survivors dodging my Punishments rn outside of being stuck in animation, and I can't always tell when a Survivor is gonna camp a pallet and throw it or just run away.
-

Maps are full with pallets, you are not unlucky. This is just reality. This is why killers are losing so much time because so much pallets.
But Dead Dawg is not bad. This map has not great pallets, you can mindgame most of them. I just hate main building on this map but it is only strong spot except Shack.
I don't like Dead Dawg that much since it ######### up my Punishments lol

Every time he kills someone he says a domination voice line

As Survivor, wouldn't be caught dead without Detective's Hunch. I'd make it so Hex totems glow yellow so you know which totem is the one to go for.
For Killer, I've come to really love Haunted Grounds. I'd buff it so that each trapped totem has to be popped for the perk to be permanently gone (i.e. it has to be triggered twice normally to be totally gone, 3 with Undying)
It would make for some extremely scary Hex totem mindgames.

Nobody is safe. Just play who you want and enjoy them while they're stronger if it matters that much.

I got my Executioner adept in 2 tries, so hopefully I can help a bit?
1. Play ruthlessly. As @HectorBrando said, don't waste time camping, play as aggressively as your Killer allows to maximize number of hooks.
2. Make sure you're capable with your Killer's power. With Pig and Trapper this can be more difficult than Executioner but putting traps in important places like Shack as Trapper and hounding Survivors with traps on their heads as Pig is a good way to secure quick hooks.
3. Exploit their perks as best you can. Maybe that basement is close enough with Agitation. Kicking plenty of gens will maximize the value of Surveillance.
4. You may want to keep an eye on your Chaser meter with Pig in particular because Make Your Choice is an exposure perk. You will likely need to weigh your options on that one.
Good luck!
-
Otz stated, directly and multiple times, that the game favors whichever side is meanest. Jund agrees with this. They are not saying the game is Killer sided, but rather that the game isn't as hopeless as most Killer players make it out to be.
I can't tell how the point flew over your head when it was thrown directly at your face.

Yes sir. Have you played against Trickster? No counterplay.
The BBQ aura reads on a Blight is a very big advantage. As soon as someone is put on a hook, you can count to 3 and he is already slapping someone else off a gen.
My counterplay to Trickster is lasting as long as possible while my teammates do gens. Trickster doesn't feel difficult to go against at all.
Your issue with BBQ seems like a Blight problem and not a BBQ problem but ok nerf a perk that promotes not tunneling or camping bc of how well it works for one of the nearly 30 Killers.
-
I still play Killer occasionally and it is still my preferred role but I would be lying if I said I haven't just been playing more survivor. Survivor is 10x more relaxing, I can play with my friends, I bump into toxic killers occasionally but not often.
When I do play Killer, I have to focus on not taking matches too personally as I get 1 4K then get murderstomped 3 games in a row. It's just a game after all, and I play a difficult Killer. Still, it feels like any decent games I have after that are more of a "Here's your pity win" than something I earned.
-
@Sluzzy said:
So untrue.
Still no Ruin, Tinkerer, NOED, BBQ, or Trickster or Huntress nerfs (most common killer seen).
Circle of Healing was already nerfed before going live while in the same patch killer perk buffs occurred. Way more survivor perks nerfed than killer perks.
There is actually no word of a Blight nerf.
If anything, the continuous updates are extremely favorable for killers.
Let's not forget Pinhead is going to actually speak in the game soon.
Nerfing.....Trickster??????????????? Huntress?????? BBQ??????????????????????????????????????

Naw I'm gonna stay silent
They just nerfed the best addons for Twins and Nemesis, two killers who are by no means overwhelming.
I'd rather they just leave Pyramid Head alone.

Maps by far.
We have only 9 actually good and balanced maps: Coal Tower, Ironworks of Misery, Wrecker's Yard, Wretched Shop, Rancid Abbatoir, The Thompson House, Torment Creek, Father Campbell's Chapel and The Temple of Purgation. We are at 37 maps now, so basically only 25% of the maps are fun to play for both sides, and even those can have some problems (god windows on Chapel, deadzones on Shop, etc).
Everything else ranges from "meh" tier (like Eyrie of Crows, Yamaokas, Disturbed Ward) to "absolutely disgusting and anti-fun" tier, like RPD, Haddonfield, Badham and Cowshed.
The team responsible for map design really needs to step up their work. People only care about looks for the first few matches, after that nobody cares how beautiful Eyrie of Crows is if you tilt your head up while the map sucks to play on, it's the gameplay that matters.
Thompson House and Temple of Purgation?
Thompson House main building is atrocious to play around and Temple of Purgation is pretty big isn't it?
-
THE Biggest problem is map design. Maps are too big for most killers to properly control and for solo Qs to respond to lack of action from teammates for certain things while simultaneously having too many pallets and vaults.
Honorable mentions go to Gen Speed (generally too fast), spawn logic (not just for survivors, totem spawns suck too), perk disparity (few good perks, too many mediocre or straight up worthless perks) and SWF (literally impossible to balance the game for a group with external comms without screwing over solo Qs in the process)
-
Survivors hate NOED but many of them probably wouldn't be able to live without Dead Hard
-
Oh I love the Snowmen. Survivors jump into them and I just draw trails in a circle from which they can't escape. Easiest Torments of my life. And that animation? They don't get invuln until they're actually in control of the snowmen so its easy to smack them with a ranged attack and watch the snowman explode with their downed body. Glad that the Snowmen are ineffective against offensive powers.
-
I used to be in a pretty bad spot with Killer but I've been having a lot more fun with it lately. Here's 2 big things that made Killer fun for me again
1. Abandon whatever meta build you might have currently and focus on mastering your Killer's power
I realized that even when I ran ruin/undying/discordance/tinkerer that I still couldn't pull games easily and it was frustrating me a lot. I learned that focusing solely on getting better at making my power work (PotD or Tentacle Strike) made it a lot easier to stomach losing because I was focusing on something other than winning. It meant that when I lost I could try and learn how to use my power better and when I won it meant I was doing something right. During this time I picked whatever build I felt would help me get as much experience using my power as possible - I'm All Ears/Nurse's Calling/Nemesis/Enduring for PH and...kinda whatever I felt like for Nemesis. I wasn't very picky.
2. Find a build that works for *you*.
After I felt I was getting better at using my power I wanted to start trying a stronger build, but I didn't want to go back to a full meta build. Instead, I wanted a build that synergized with my killers and one that was also pretty fun. I found that I really liked exposed perks, and that one gen slowdown perk was usually enough for me. The remaining two perks were for whatever - information, or something that worked with my other perks.
For Pyramid Head I landed on Ruin/Haunted Grounds/All Ears/Nurse's
For Nemesis I settled on Lethal Pursuer/Devour Hope/Undying/Pop
Not the strongest builds, but they work well and I have fun with them. And when I win with them. I also like to challenge myself to see if I can win without my hexes and sometimes I'm pretty successful.
I'm on about a 12 winstreak with Pyramid Head which is the highest I've ever had. I'm expecting MMR to brutalize me eventually but I keep getting teams with 3 Dead Hard, 3 BT, boons etc. and winning so I must be doing something right! Nemesis I had a draw recently but I'm still doing pretty well. The game where I had a draw I managed to get my 2k in EGC against a clicky team so I was happy to be defiant to the very end and keep all of them from walking away!
https://youtu.be/EF5uBDz5YckThe Nea could have saved James if she didn't waste her battery clicking at me and The Steve called me a loser, but I'm not gonna complain about a last minute 2K when they brought a map offering for the Game haha
Good luck!
-
Terrible map that sucks for everyone except Nurse and sweat SWFs
-
I use Lethal on Nemesis so hell yeah I'm going over there! Free tier 2 and first hook yeeeeaaaah buddy!
-
They have a psychological need to rub their victory in your face. If you can't see them winning was it worth it?
When the survivors are obviously waiting for me at the end of the match in the exit gates I like to go chill in a building and let them waste their own time without getting to gloat as my last act of defiance.
-
Honestly I've never seen a more toxic group of Survivors than Feng Mins. Honorary mention to Nea but I've never seen a bigger collection of toxic players than Feng players and I JUST had a game where Feng Min got downed first and IMMEDIATELY rage quit before a gen had even been done, dooming us all to die.
-
Legion is definitely the most boring Killer of all of them. I wonder if BHVR initially had plans to work all of the Legion members into a "group" Killer a la one person controls the Killer and the other members stick around as a way to send information to the player, but maybe it didn't pan out and instead we got each individual member as a skin and their power is...running a bit fast.
Granted the idea of a Killer that can vault windows and pallets at the same speed as a Survivor is pretty unique to them but compared to chainsaw charging Billy or billiards ballin' Blight, they seem to have the most 'eh..' power of all the Killers.
-
They've listened to many things, the time it takes for them to actually implement the ideas from feedback just varies. These forums aren't their only source of feedback and sometimes what some people hate, others love, which we even saw here with the Artist. Girl wasn't even out for a week and there were "She's OP/She's trash/She's perfect" threads galore
-
I never play Nemmy without Marvin's Blood. It should honestly be his base kit rate at this point.
Also people saying he's boring...let's see what they say when BHVR decides to give him the rocket launcher haha
-
It's pretty funny how often I will hit a Survivor, hear them scream and THEN see them actually Dead Hard.
-
@CrowVortex said:
Incredibly OP on RCPD's 3 floors, especially that totem spot in the library. But yeah, either needs an internal cooldown of say 90 seconds for that 1 totem / a requirement to bless it (Like how flashbang and Blastmine have requirements) or Limit it to 1 use per totem and when snuffed the totem loses energy or whatever and cannot be blessed again.
This is a huge problem! The Boons aren't a sphere, they're a cylinder. It makes it really hard to actually hone in on the audio cue
-
@GeneralV said:
I am surprised BHVR hasn't done anything about them yet.
It didn't take them long to realize that Old MoM was overpowered and they soon changed it.
Why not do the same thing with Boons?
I think BHVR had the problem of needing a big enough radius for some perks to work lest they become basically useless. We can actually see this rn with the 3 boon perks we have.
24m for Shadow Step feels about right (though aura concealment is honestly a little much...) and feels reasonable for an area to reduce scratch marks so you can hide from the killer.
24m is totally worthless for exponential though. Unless you go down in the radius it'll rarely come into play because the Killer will almost always pick you up if they hear the Boon to avoid it. It'll only come into play if a fellow Survvior forces the Killer to chase them off and they avoid long enough.
COH is the opposite. You could reduce its radius to 16m and it would still be really strong.
In making it so that one Boon triggers all perks, BHVR has made a unique balancing problem for themselves because the radius really matters.
-
Take a break and when you come back, play to improve, not to win.
