As long as she doesn't get the Freddy-Hillbilly-Deathslinger treatment.

Do you have even the slightest idea of how frustrating and infuriating that is when it happens to the character you love?

I can understand being frustrated with Nurse, but no player deserves to go through that.

With the case of Forever Freddy and Spam ADS Slinger, it was pretty necessary. It's not fun to play against a killer where matches take 10x as long or where you pretty much can do nothing but break LoS and pre-drop pallets. Btw, I'm a Slinger main and maybe 50% of my 1.5k hours have been playing Slinger. He's still pretty good, just most players are terrible with him and then give up. I think the Terror radius nerf was uncalled for, but that's another discussion for another time.

I'll gladly take your opinion seriously if you could back up your claim of 4king every game without perks. I'll wait.

Sure. I'll upload a video later today and post it on this thread. It might end up getting posted WAY later today since I have some work that needs to get done. How does something like 3 or 4 consecutive games sound?

I really do hate playing Nurse though, I think she is very boring and way too easy. You don't have to think or adapt all that much to the survivor you're playing against, you just blink on top of them and down them.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

I was not thinking it either, but I am glad you are saying it. Fight the power, man! Let's stop Nurses from being able to earn livable wages!

I can always count on you to be the funniest person in the thread lol

  • The snowball of Legion with Knock Out, Infectious Fright, and Legion Pin is pretty crazy. Everyone is Broken half the time with Legion Pin, and Infectious lets you know when it's a good time to slug with Knock Out.

Which means you can snowball very quickly, and your slugs are unlikely to get picked up. Once you get two people on hooks at the same time, the death spiral begins.

What your describing is a chase power and nothing else. A lot of killers have power that have moved on from just generic chase power. Even if its a ranged character. Ph can bypass ds and is capable of immediatly imprisoning a survivor to save time on hooking. Can hit through walls and hit multiple targets.

The artist can apply cross map pressure with her crows. With perks like dead mans and thrilling tremors gaining significantly more power. Trickster has unique projectile arcs with richochet and antibody block with his main event and cut through add on.

Huntress is the standard range killers are measured and for good reason. Her hatchet not only have crazy range but arc in a way that opens oppurtunites to hit over walls. She can chain together multiples hit with little downtime in comparison to slinger shoot reel hit reload which prevent this. The snowball so to speak. The best somparison i have for this killer is clown and pinhead which is not a good sign. These killers stun and gain distance via there power but must down with m1.

Even then clown and pinhead have additional mechanics and further ranges. Pinheads box is an amzing slowdown effect and clown has some solid speed boost bottles. This lead me to a conclusion that there is an argument to change his ms which is lower then many of ranged killers who i have clearly demonstrated are superior.

On the note of the instascope it was his selling point the main thing every slinger main was drawn to. It was how he played like an fps quick drawing cowboy. Bricky, monto so many content creators celebrated and used this point as a key pivotal point to focus your learning of the killer. Ripping that out was a substaintial change that warranted something big to replace it. Many old killer like clown legion, trapper wraith all got massive updates that try to help them some succeded some didnt. Slinger needed more then a bullet to the head. But the community demanded there sacrifice.

Finally stealth no your are wrong freddy and wraith were very good killers in dbd At one point however they were considered too much for low and mid tier players so he got nerfed. What got them to a viable state was enhancing there speed map traversal and slowdown all of which slinger could add to his mechanics.

He lacks snowball, lacks slowdown, is a slow killer, range is limited to 18 meters. You can be the best chase killer in the game but if its all the killer specialises in then ehy are a weak killer.(even then many of the other ranged killers i mentioned are superior). I understand your looping mechanics will probably be excellent but looking at the game from macro level surely your starting to see my point.

Yes, Slinger pretty much has only chase, and even then he's not so good at splitting pressure and getting lots of injures quickly. But I'm a player that mostly focuses on high risk chase centric builds. I often run only one passive slowdown, or none at all. He works well with this sort of all-in aggressive playstyle where you let the gens fly and slug for multiple hooks or camp for multiple hook states or 1 for 1s, but he pretty much always loses in gen defense heavy strategies. In a gen defense meta, it's understandable why people overlook him.

The strength of the other ranged killers is very up front and obvious. Anyone can play as them once and understand how powerful they can be if they practice them. I mean, everyone says Artist is very strong despite no one really playing her. But I personally think Slinger has lots of untapped potential, and I'm putting time into him to see if I can find it. The virtues of having a single, very small shot that can always guarantee an injure and often get a down are overshadowed by machine gun knives, chain fired flying whales, and wall hacking birds.

Yes, shoot -> reel -> hit -> reload -> shoot -> reel -> hit -> reload, is why he needs a smaller terror radius again. M1 -> wipe -> shoot -> reel -> hit -> reload gives Slinger chases that last something like 10 or 12 seconds, or less with STBFL. Not having mobility or slowdown doesn't matter if you can down survivors quickly and force others to leave gens and come rescue, as killers like Bubba and Trickster demonstrate. It's a high risk playstyle that demands good execution from the player, which is why I enjoy that playstyle.

I do think it's worth mentioning that reeling is actually a very useful mechanic, and not an obligatory waste of time like many assume. Manually repositioning a survivor to ensure an easier follow-up hit is not something other killers can do, unless you count zoning (which is different from literally dragging the survivor to where you want them to go). Survivors with elevated positions and cover are difficult to deal with for other ranged killers, but Slinger can shoot straight through a tiny gap in their cover and then pull them down.

So more or less, I think Slinger is a killer that looks weak on paper and gets overlooked because of it and the fact that he has easier to play alternatives. But given time and practice, he can potentially outperform them in terms of ending individual chases extremely quickly and making most loops too unsafe to bother with.

I might have mentioned this before, but Slinger is a niche and weird killer, for niche and weird people. I might have been overzealous in saying he has one of the best chasing powers in the game, but I think he's the sort of killer that is only good for people that one-trick him (like Highlander from For Honor; a D tier character that is S tier in the hands of one tricks).

So yeah, Slinger might be bad on paper and when compared to other characters, but in practice he can actually be very good in the hands of someone that understands him to the nth degree.

    That's all ☺️

I think the Modified Ammo Belt would be too strong in addition to the base buff, and would be the new brainless auto-equip addon, and only a brown. IMO, Slinger is a bit problematic when he reloads too fast. I'd be fine with -0.35 seconds though, I think. The Wanted Poster might be OP, but I'm honestly not too sure.

I honestly think the Barbed Wire could have both suggested buffs and it would be fine. I really like all the other changes you made.

Running reworked Ammo Belt with the basekit buff would be the same as running current Warden's Keys and Ammo Belt, but instead you can run a second add-on as well. Not that much stronger since that's pretty much what you're vs'ing if you're playing against current Slinger. A lot of killers have strong brown add-ons that are more or less intended for you to run most games, so I think it's fine to have an auto-pick add-on.

Wanted Poster pretty much just gives you enough time to reload and take a last second shot. Very strong, but not game breaking. Especially since it's on chain breaks, and not M1s.

    @DaddyMyers_Mori said:

I like those basekit changes. TR nerf was bad idea, but they are not going to lower it back.

Main thing I would like to see is not lowering sensitivity / turning speed while ADS. His ADS mechanic is just terrible. I would remove also FOV reduction, I don't think there is need for it with his limited range.

Yeah, the sens reduction is so extreme that you can't really do flicks or anything, you can only really track. I really want 24m TR or 4.6m/s, Slinger's low range makes it really quite hard to approach survivors. You have to be smart about the angles you come from or they can get a lot of distance very quickly.

    @Zarathos said:

These changes add some cool elements to slinger the hellshire iron in particular is clever I like it. A lot of reasonable add on buffs that leaves some room for base gameplay changes. Hopefully behaviour takes a few of these ideas. A bounty system baseline with a slowdown gen effect attached or even an exposed target would really add to his theme.

Pretty much four meta perks that you can run with any build

A ridiclous assertion is rather reasonable way to call out a ridiclous viewpoint. There is no attack on your character its a criticism of your viewpoint which is more then reasonable.

It would be unfair if my statement of "what you stated is a joke" if i hadnt backed my viewpoint with points and perspectives to explain how we went this route before and existing experiance shows the gameplay design doe not provide consistent or even a meaningful advantage.

Limp is a descrpition used to describe more then a dick. A limp handshake, walking with a limp all phrases that denote weakness or a lack of strength. I use the word limp not limp dick big difference.

After assesing continiously how slinger remains a weak killer your insistence on him being strong without refute many of my assertions leads me to the conclusion that you are arrogant. Based on my point illustrated can you deny such claims? This is not some mark of shame or the end all of your character let me assure you on that.

Aight, sorry being a melonhead. I'm sensitive lol.

I something like 30% of my playtime has been as Deathslinger, so I have 400~ish hours on him. Split more or less 50/50 from before and after the nerf. I don't think I'm God's gift to Slinger mains, I'm an extremely mediocre player in my opinion. If I'm just alright and I can do really well as Slinger, then what can people with 1000+ hours on him do? People that think Slinger is bad just look at him on paper and assume he's no good, or they play him once and miss 50 times and say "I'm not bad, the killer is bad." He's actually very strong if you understand his power and unique perk synergies, and most people just look at him and go "Huntress but bad." If you're playing Slinger like he's a Huntress clone, you are going to get bodied. He's a completely different animal.

That's more or less my position. No one really gives Slinger the time of day, so it's never been brought to light that he's actually pretty crazy.

you are not able to play every loop with slinger thats a ridclous assertion. There are very clear limitations to his power with predropping pallets being an excellent way to deny his ranged shot from actually landing a down. The same can not be said about trickster, artist or huntress who can play through this by landing shots that do not require a follow up m1.

It's NOT ridiculous to say that you can play and get a down at nearly every loop using Slinger's power, because you can and I do. I'm currently trying to find which loops you can get downs at while the pallet is dropped. Stuff like jungle gyms and god pallets are out of the question, but you can surprisingly get downs at strong structures like shack with the pallet down (if the survivor is not anticipating it, which they aren't if you're not being obvious about it and they are not precognitive psychics)

Most loops have a pinhole or can be shot over, and the ones that don't you can mind-game them into vaulting the window and then shoot them and down them through the window. Or do a fake back double and hold an angle. Or just shoot them in the back when they're too close to juke but too far to make it to the pallet. You can treat Slinger's shot like a hyper-extended lunge, at times. Other times, it's literally a gun.

A predropped pallet is hard to deal with as pretty much every killer except Nurse. For Trickster, Huntress, and Artist, (...and Pyramid Head, ...and Nemesis), you just drop the pallet after breaking LOS. Dropping it in their face will get you injured or downed, but dropping it away from their face you can run to another loop. Only difference for Slinger is that he can't get a down over the pallet, but he can get an injure. A survivor that drops a pallet while Huntress has LOS and a hatchet raised is not a survivor that understands how to vs Huntress.

But in many short loops, you can go around the loop while they are chained and hit them. If you can't hit them by going from one side of the pallet to the other on the chain, instead you get perpendicular to the pallet and shoot them there. Even better if you get them panic vaulting and you manipulate them into vaulting to a side close to you after landing your shot.

Also as you stated no ranged killer has stbfl mandatory which is a joke. Stealthly range killer is also a terrible niche to explore on low mobility killers you will utilise little of that actual advantage and has a large number of maps where a stealth a aproach is not availlable 90% of the time. Look at the best examples of stealth killer design space an notice thw best of these tend to have telepotation or enhanced mpvement speed. Whilst the worst limply stagger to another location.

Slinger is not other ranged killers. STBFL is not so much mandatory, but it elevates him from "pretty solid" to "pure monka." You can M1 someone, and then scope in and shoot them before their speed boost ends.

(This is more or less the reason he got his ADS nerfed as severe as he did, since you could M1 with STBFL and then shoot them before they even realized that they got M1'd. A killer got nerfed because of two popular perks on him: STBFL and M&A.)

I'm really not so sure if there's any other killer that can get two health states on a survivor that quickly, other than speed limiter Bubba (lol), Trapper with someone running into his traps after getting an M1 (would be a down anyway), and Trickster against a survivor that is standing still or holding W (they don't understand how to vs the killer).

I don't really understand what your point is about stealth on low mobility killers being bad. Because stealth is only as useful as the player using it. Not to mention that Slinger could shoot people from outside his terror radius with M&A (aka free hits with no warning). Most stealth killers are terrible by virtue of being M1 killers, not really a stealth or mobility problem. It's an M1 killer problem.

You don't need to teleport or move at Billy's chainsaw speed to get stealth value. Just run Tinkerer for 3 or 4 games and see how many free M1s you get from a mere 16 seconds of stealth.

Instadowns on a range limit of 18 meter with a charged shot clause or meter you built up through landing hits is not exactly a surefire uber tier op killer. Espicially when you add/have existing warming indicators that a slinger isl ining up a shot or potentially add an active exposed shot indicator/jingle. This concept is not completely busted there are an endless number of ways to balance it

My point is more that Slinger is already strong, and buffing him would make him too strong. Giving Slinger base kit instadowns on some kind of meter or stack based mechanic is not a good idea, it would make him too strong. Iri Coin is already very strong, and I personally don't ever use it for that reason.

Going the path of another stealth based killer in a game with a cast that is almost 50% this is dull, boring and oversaturating the rooster with the same crap. A slinger shot is a breach action range gated shot with an ads time that is not far different from huntresses wind up espicially when shes packing wind up hatchets.

I am confident slinger is to niche and dosent offer anything that wows people outside of his aesthetic. This is evident in people frustration with his current situation and a tr change will not be enough to actually inspire people to give him another go. Whether he gets game delay exposed shots or terrain penetrating shots. Slinger needs and deserves way better then some limp tr changes.

That's really just your opinion. Slinger being a niche killer for niche players is not a bad thing at all, since there are nearly 30 other killers to choose from. People are just malding that they can't click on survivors and win with him anymore, Slinger is way better than the credit he's given.

Before the nerf, my opinion on Slinger was "he's unfair, but you can't nerf him much without making him useless." After playing him lots after the nerf, I think the nerf actually did basically nothing to his viability. Current opinion is "could use some QoL, an add-on pass, and a 24 meter terror radius." You just have to aim and think instead of spamming ADS and quickscoping.

I really do genuinely believe that people are just not willing to put the time into getting good with him. To be fair, it's a big time investment when there are other killers that are very "pick up and play" and you instantly can start doing very good with them. I want to show off how good Slinger can be, but my computer sucks so streaming and recording is not so easy.

They're good changes, ngl to you but here's acouple i would rather see him have,

Gold Creek Whiskey: Reworked: ADS 10% quicker, movement speed reduced by 5% while ADS, reload 5% slowly (I.E instead of 2 seconds it pushes it up to 2.25)

the Oblivious effect to him is kinda meh, moreso in terms of "you can Ads quicker, but you'll be slow if you hold it for too long," sorta like how it was before the addon changes,

Barbed Wire: Reworked: Survivors that help other survivors break free from your Chain will now also Suffer from Deep wounds as if they got Speared,

This makes it so if they want to bodyblock your hit, you can punish them severely, would make sense since...

    It's Barbed Wire,

the rest are actually good, but the one addon i'd also wanna see would be this

Iridescent Coin: Reworked: Increases the Range of the Redeemer up to 24 meters, Increases the time it takes to break the chain by 15% Cannot be stacked with other addons that affects the chain breaking,

Would be a very interesting addon to see in action, Whatta ya think? =D

Gold Creek Whiskey: Reworked: ADS 10% quicker, movement speed reduced by 5% while ADS, reload 5% slowly (I.E instead of 2 seconds it pushes it up to 2.25)

10% faster ADS would be 360 milliseconds, or .36 seconds. Pre-nerf it was something like 150 milliseconds. It's an interesting trade off, but I personally wouldn't take it unless the bonus was like 20% or 25%.

Barbed Wire: Reworked: Survivors that help other survivors break free from your Chain will now also Suffer from Deep wounds as if they got Speared

I like the idea of it. You could use it to make plays to injure multiple survivors at once. Way more interesting than mending longer.

Iridescent Coin: Reworked: Increases the Range of the Redeemer up to 24 meters, Increases the time it takes to break the chain by 15% Cannot be stacked with other addons that affects the chain breaking,

Increased range would be hard to make use of outside of shooting people off generators, but it would be fun to see it catch people off guard. Personally, I think current iri coin is fine (despite lowkey being OP, don't tell anyone lol)

  • bruh just buy it and you don't have to see it again

  • People are getting to them before you, I assume.

But also you need a certain number of hooks for them to appear as killer, and a certain number of gens done as survivor.

  • I have something like 50k and tons of bloodpoints banked in the archive, so I'm all set to get the perks day 1 haha

although he needs a addon fix... i swear they hate him

Check out my add-on pass for Slinger, I want eyes on it lol

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/326311/deathslinger-add-on-pass#latest

  • Can confirm it's the average. My survivor MMR is extremely low since I die nearly every game, so I'm usually vs'ing literal newbies in solo queue. When I'm in a swf of highly mixed skill, it's usually killers that are far below the rating of the top player in the group and far above the rating that I typically get while solo.

    Insta-scope was still dodgable. tf,

He's 110% for a reason, sorry but, he was the 2nd ranged killer to rival huntress. now Huntress dominates harder than he does

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2981150#Comment_2981150

Hits through Most loops? bruh, if you were injured, being speared after you dropped a pallet would be a waste, some loops even when speared you couldn't catch them in time to reel + lunge,

People seem to forget that slinger could only injure / deep wounds you if you broke the spear / hit them with m1 after m2, hell they broke half of the tiles for slinger so you couldn't even shoot through the wide enough holes to even justify why it didn't go through,

and the Few killers that can get a hit after a pallet is drop (not counting latency hits through pallets) Would be half the killer list.. only on a Few maps no killer can down you through the safest of pallets,

+ Quickscoping was fine, they should've just made it to ADS abit slowly, but not too slow,

(that and his addons needs goddamn fixing...)

    Edit: Fixed Spelling Errors

Hits through Most loops? bruh, if you were injured, being speared after you dropped a pallet would be a waste, some loops even when speared you couldn't catch them in time to reel + lunge,

My bad, I meant M1 hits after reeling. As in getting downs. I've been doing science with Slinger and discovering you can get downs at pretty much every pallet after it's been dropped, barring the strongest god pallets.

Sup dude, I just wanted to say that I'm happy to finally hear from a person that doesn't underestimate slinger. I play him every DBD sessions, I have been playing him since release. This killer is extremely underrated and I don't have any clue why. It really seems that this killer is doomed to be perceived as terrible, and nobody wants to try to see how good he is. What I find surprising is how for any other killer people can acknowledge you can get good at them, making them viable, yet they don't want to hear anything from slinger. Based on the many discussions I had in the past about him, I'm pretty sure the issue is that people keep comparing him to huntress, despite them being two completely different killers. Pretty much everything he can do is underestimated (I mean, in the right hands, a chase barely lasts so I have yet to understand how that makes him a bad killer to even begin with), the most surprising argument I see every time is about pre-dropping pallets. Like, I forgot slinger couldn't shoot you and deny the pallet entirely before you even get there. I could go on, but I'm tired of explaining all this stuff again and again to people that don't listen.

Hello, fellow Slinger. May your yee-haw echo deeply into the night.

He's actually straight bonkers if you put the time into him, but no one is willing to learn him since there's easier alternatives. Imagine if people said Nurse was bad because they think she's hard to learn lol. I genuinely think he's a contender for being an S-tier killer in the right hands, like Billy.

Yeah, he's way different from Huntress. People play him like a Huntress clone and wonder why they are doing terrible. He's more like Nurse crossed with Demogorgon, if you ask me. Some shots are like a hyper-extended lunge while looping normally, other shots are more like a "your laws mean nothing to me" kind of thing.

Interestingly enough, in the Age of Slinger (e.g. before the nerf and he was a very common pick), I would see people pre-pre-drop pallets. As in drop the pallets when the killer isn't chasing them, to set up a sort of defensive safety net against quickscoping Slingers. It was actually relatively effective. Well, more effective than getting shot before you can get to the pallet.

    Edit:

I could write a comprehensive guide on how to get a down at every pallet in less than 10 seconds with Slinger, and everyone would go "mah, mah, ADS nerf, mah, mah, bad killer"

No, I'm just not interesting into talking to people that think having an argument means insulting the other person or constantly demeaning whatever it is that's being argued about. You can disagree on something and be civil and try to seek a mutual greater understanding, but this is the Dead by Daylight community we're talking about here. Much easier to say "what you said is dumb, the thing you like is stupid" than actually have a proper discussion and try to brainstorm together.

How is this vitriollic? Im addressing you point and using exisiting ranged killer designs to illustrate how unnecessarily restrained deathslingers design is. His quickscope was a selling point behavour marketed as a reason to purchase him. His old help tip advocated using his swift aim shoot and reel as a key advantage that gave him strength. Ripping it out for mild qol changes was and still is widely consdired to be backwards.

"No one good with him thats all" start to make a whole lot less sense when a large amount of dbd players can agree nurse is still strong despite having a high learning curve yet people look at slinger and see an inferior ranged killer with zero appeal. Claiming slinger is fine as is when titans like zubat and scott say otherwise is brazenly arrogant. If a killer is this complex they shouldnt be losing to basic hold w strats.

You didnt even address my points you just doubled down on how slinger is still really good without explaining why he is superior and comparable to the current dbd killer ranged rooster.

Per your earlier post, replying to me:

    "that's a ridiculous assertion"

"what you stated is a joke"

"limp dick buffs won't help this killer"

Vitriolic behavior. It's difficult to care about addressing your arguments, however valid they may be, when you're also just being straight up rude in the same breath. A big part of his unpredictability is going for pinhole shots, and shooting over obstacles that don't look like they can be shot over. It's unlikely that a survivor knows every pinhole to avoid, unless they are also a Deathslinger main.

I am not deathslinger main. I haven't played him in over 7 months or more. I think I played him about 20~ games after the week after he got changed just to confirm where he is at. I would say that you don't need to be deathslinger main to know where pinholes and his ADS time is so slow to the point that you'll likely pass over the pinhole before he is able to shoot in most cases. It is highly predictable as deathslinger's player-movement will not look natural in most cases when they're going for fancy gameplay.

You can also pre-aim when walking around a corner and the survivor is no longer able to react your shot, guaranteeing a hit.

First of all, It is not guaranteed hit. The deathslinger produces this really strange ringing noise when aiming down sight. Furthermore, the survivor can anticipate the shot if he/she believes that he can fire. I tend to run loops extremely tightly such that most of the time, I end up making the corner before he is able to shoot. In the rare cases where its not the case, I am not concerned. I do not think outplaying his gun is particularly difficult.

Aiming and not shooting to trick survivors into juking is also good strat. If a survivor makes a read on you that you're not shooting after doing spam ADS a few times, you can suddenly """quickscope""" and land a hit. Now that survivor pretty much has no idea what to expect from you the next time you chase them and you start ADS'ing randomly.

This sounds like very new-player suggestion. There is no sudden quickscope. Quickscoping does not exist in current iteration of slinger. inexperienced survivors will sometimes begin wiggling in predictable patterns before the wind-up completed. Its just the typical bad-survivor gameplay. Given that deathslinger is pretty crap killer in my opinion and MMR exists, I don't really imagine anyone having particularly high MMR with him and I imagine your more likely to face bad survivors with him if you main him from being lower MMR.

"I'd be be playing Nurse or something. I just find the "better" killers to be boring because they are too easy or require too little skill.

Really? Low skill? You should try her out. I assure you. she is not easy. If you want some extra challenge, Burn a Racoon city police station offering. The ego might be a bit too high on this comment.

I would say that you don't need to be deathslinger main to know where pinholes are

This is largely true. Everyone knows about a lot of the common ones like shack window boards, and obvious ones like the railings on a lot of balconies. However, there's simply so many that I don't think many survivors know about a lot of them. For one of my recent discoveries, you can shoot someone in the foot while they are running past the carriage loop near shack in Dead Dawg. I can't think of many other examples since it's 5am for me and I'm very tired.

his ADS time is so slow to the point that you'll likely pass over the pinhole before he is able to shoot in most cases. It is highly predictable as deathslinger's player-movement will not look natural in most cases when they're going for fancy gameplay.

You can pre-aim the pinhole, but you can make a good argument for that being too predictable. But then again, just pre-aiming window vaults and waiting for a survivor to run past works against many players. You can argue that not predicting a pre-aim and leaving the loop is due to lack of skill, but doing it randomly when you haven't done it before catches people off guard.

A big part of playing Slinger is being unpredictable and making bizarre plays to throw people off guard. You loop normally and then flick and shoot someone, and you can also loop like you're trying to set up a shot and then just M1 them instead. He's got a billion tricks up his sleeve, and doing regular M1 mind games when a survivor is expecting a shot can be surprisingly effective. If you are playing against a predictable Slinger, you are playing against a bad Slinger (as much as I absolutely hate saying "bro lol you're wrong bc the guy you're playing against is bad," because it's a stupid argument that contributes nothing to the conversation).

Maybe that's just my playstyle in general, and not so much a Slinger specific thing.

It's.... pretty guaranteed. The ringing only plays if he can actually see you, and if he can only see you for a split second and shoot you in the ankle as you round a corner and you can barely even see him anymore, how do you react to the ringing? Or the gun being raised? I do it literally every day, and no one has ever juked or dodged a shot when I was pre-aiming around a corner (except for when I'm drunk and stare at them for like three seconds before firing lol).

You can't anticipate getting shot when you can't see the killer, and you don't know if he's doubling back or moonwalking or pre-aiming. No one has that level of precognition when they can't see something, unless that something is as predictable as a pen hitting the floor after you drop it. Which you've stated, you play against a lot of predictable Deathslingers.

This sounds like very new-player suggestion. There is no sudden quickscope. Quickscoping does not exist in current iteration of slinger.

    """quickscope"""

I would like you to guess what the quotation marks are for, please : )

This means firing at the first available moment, e.g. mashing M1 after you begin holding M2.

inexperienced survivors will sometimes begin wiggling in predictable patterns before the wind-up completed.

Its just the typical bad-survivor gameplay. Given that deathslinger is pretty crap killer in my opinion and MMR exists, I don't really imagine anyone having particularly high MMR with him and I imagine your more likely to face bad survivors with him if you main him from being lower MMR.

Even high level 4k+ hour survivors will start wiggling randomly and trying to juke. With bad survivors you can literally win by holding W after them and going for M1s only. No one cares about advice for playing against bad survivors, so no once gives it. Might as well start suggesting that checking lockers is a good strategy at that point lol.

So no, it's not typical bad survivor gameplay because anyone decent at the game can recognize a bad survivor very quickly, and it's waste of time to discuss how to play against them since they are virtually guaranteed to lose.

imo, I am fairly mid as far as killer players go. On a scale of 1 to 100, 1 being dedicated game throwers that have literally never won and 100 being a top 10 comp player, I'm probably like a 65. So my MMR is probably high-ish, considering I play against gen rush squads with map offerings and the like as Slinger. I vs a lot of very good loopers if I let them get to a loop, but it doesn't really matter against Slinger since he can get a down at pretty much any loop.

Really? Low skill? You should try her out. I assure you. she is not easy. If you want some extra challenge, Burn a Racoon city police station offering. The ego might be a bit too high on this comment.

The ego is at an all time low. I don't think I'm all that good, I think that Nurse is very, VERY good. I mained Nurse when I first started playing DbD on PC, and I still play her occasionally. Usually only without perks, though. She's literally easy mode. You basically just click on survivors and down them. If you can't see them, you click on them through the wall and down them. I can't explain it any better than that. Survivors juking you, running at you, ect, doesn't matter. Nurse literally does not care about anything that survivors do. You just get close with your first blink and click on them with your second.

I don't like playing her because I hate being carried by playing an easy and overpowered character, I'd rather play a character that requires a lot of skill to get use out of them. Nurse takes no skill, you cannot change my mind.

Your overstating slingers power. No you are not able to play every loop with slinger thats a ridclous assertion. There are very clear limitations to his power with predropping pallets being an excellent way to deny his ranged shot from actually landing a down. The same can not be said about trickster, artist or huntress who can play through this by landing shots that do not require a follow up m1.

Trickster also has way more potential then slinger espicially when you are utilising penetration blades, ricohet further ranges splash damage daggers and a main event which can severly hamper body blocks. You can also zone more heavilly with trickster by utilising suppressing fire methods. Again capacity is an issue for slinger one in the chamber should hit harder versus other ranged killer that can have multiple rounds and again no range cap.

I ve seen the argument oh you can get guarranted hits but ttd (time to down) is just as important as being able to hit. There is so much superflous time spent reloading after every shot. Shoot reel hit reload shoot reel hit. A lot of loops massively draw out the time it takes to be able to line up the shot and thats before survivor just pre drop pallets and deny you any oppurtunity to do so.

Chill out and we can talk civilly. I'm not interested in talking to someone if you're going to be vitriolic or overly aggressive about your opinion.

Slinger is way better than people give him credit for. He doesn't need a lot of buffs (or really any), because he is already very strong. Just no one is any good with him, so he looks like a weak killer to most of the player base. He requires a massive amount of time put into him to see his real potential, and no one has really committed to seeing just how far you can push Slinger to his limit.

I'd say you need to play more Slinger. If a survivor is doing the correct counterplay at a loop, you can counter their counter with mindgames, good predictions, and being unpredictable.

I do not agree. I don't think there is anything unpredictable about current deathslinger. I think survivor has counter-play to to every action he takes and he has no control over the chase whatsoever.

I throw games to commit to difficult chases just to push the limits of what Slinger can do in chase.

I think this sentence is clear indicative problem. Your literally throwing games in attempts to improve at the killer at an illusion that you'll improve at the killer in the future.

One of my recent games vs deathslinger was playing Gideon's meat packing plant and I was at that loop where there is a hole with a pallet that often links into an extended T-L wall at the bottom of the hole. The deathslinger player spend like 1-2 minutes trying to shoot shots at this loop in order to hit me. I'm not even sure what he was trying to do? Was he trying to shoot me and make me fall in the hole? No clue.

Either way, this is good summary of what playing survivor feels like against Deathslinger. It is like practically waste of time because the killer-player is literally throwing games in attempts to do some fancy play that is not going anywhere. The killer to no one surprise loses and in my head its like "Can we just move on the next game? what a dull boring match."

This is the case for a lot killers though. There is just lack of fulfillment in escaping a killer that has no chance at winning.

Yes, it's an enormous time investment just to get good at one killer

Players do that with other killers because getting better at other killers has payoff/reward. He lacks payoff and he is less fun to play now which is why he is played less. I still see some monthly posts every so often that encapsulate some sembalance of add-on reworks/reverts for deathslinger.

    How do you do those super cool bar quote dealy-doos, I wanna do 'em ;-;

"I do not agree. I don't think there is anything unpredictable about current deathslinger. I think survivor has counter-play to to every action he takes and he has no control over the chase whatsoever."

A big part of his unpredictability is going for pinhole shots, and shooting over obstacles that don't look like they can be shot over. It's unlikely that a survivor knows every pinhole to avoid, unless they are also a Deathslinger main. You can also pre-aim when walking around a corner and the survivor is no longer able to react your shot, guaranteeing a hit. Hardscoping to zone someone out isn't unpredictable, but it's pretty impossible to deal with for the survivor. There's also all the regular M1 mind games, except you have a gun and can randomly start holding an angle on where you expect the survivor to come from.

"I think this sentence is clear indicative problem. Your literally throwing games in attempts to improve at the killer at an illusion that you'll improve at the killer in the future."

It's not an illusion. Every time I over-commit to a chase to find a pinhole in a loop that you can get a down with, I have that loop "solved" in my head. The next time I chase someone there, I down them in seconds because I know the solution to that loop. It's literally hard work and determination paying off in real time.

Long range shots, trick shots, and pulling people off ledges are all extremely fun, which is why people do it. I play Slinger because I find him fun, and enjoy the kinds of tricks you can do with him. If I wanted to win every game, I'd be be playing Nurse or something. I just find the "better" killers to be boring because they are too easy or require too little skill.

Slinger wins by virtue of having short chases, and doing !!!SCIENCE!!! to find the best strats on each loop is the best thing I can do to improve. Sadly, no one is interested in doing lab work in customs with me haha.

"Either way, this is good summary of what playing survivor feels like against Deathslinger. It is like practically waste of time because the killer-player is literally throwing games in attempts to do some fancy play that is not going anywhere. The killer to no one surprise loses and in my head its like "Can we just move on the next game? what a dull boring match.""

I generally stomp with Slinger most games, I'm not throwing every single match. I really only lose on big maps when survivors split on gens or against players with 4 times my playtime, but most killers lose in that situation anyway.

"Players do that with other killers because getting better at other killers has payoff/reward. He lacks payoff and he is less fun to play now which is why he is played less."

This is partly true. It can take a lot of effort to get a really good shot in, but even then you often can't get a down. No one has really and truly committed to pushing Slinger to his limits. I imagine people said the same thing about Nurse a very long time ago, until people learned she was the one and only OP.

if your internet causes to ruin other player's games because of your internet you probably should fix the issue with the internet?

Some people live in countries with very poor internet service, or in rural areas where decent internet is largely unavailable. It's annoying to play with people that are constantly DC'ing, but we both know most DC's are intentional in DbD anyway.

  • I'm assuming you're a little laggy if killers are getting hits after the survivor is finished vaulting

But here's my guess anyhow: When vaulting a pallet, you have a lingering hitbox that stays on the side of the pallet that you vaulted from (this is why you can hit a survivor vaulting from a drop down window while they are mid-air). So you're not hitting the actual survivor, just a leftover phantasm.

  • honestly my question is "where is the survey?"

I guess console players are sad because they can't see the ending chat and so they quit the game ?

I guess every PC gamer can't live without other people's opinion in end chat and need encouragement to play the role they are used to playing ?

     Your argument does not hold.

bruh it's not an argument, it's an opinion lmfao. I like end game chat, and I don't want it taken away. In fact, I want pre game chat between killer and survivor so I can say "glhf" before the match starts.

Besides, most consoles let you message any player that's on the same platform without them being on your friends list. On steam, you have to add people as a friend to message them (most people will not accept a random friend request just to read "gg" and never speak to that person again).

Do you honestly believe a tr change is going to fix his issues. Dude needs way more help then just a tr revert. He has no gameplay competitve usp. His ability has a range limit, a reeling mechanic that can deny him downs even if you hit his power, slow movement speed, single capacity shot so you cant even chain multiple hits.

He lacks any unique advantage. Hes the inferior ranged killer in every way. He needed a full blown mechanic added to compensate for his quiclscope being ripped out. Whether you thought quick scope was fair its undeniable to assume his main selling point was not the quickscope. Ripping it out and saying hes still good is straight up untrue espcially when you measure him up to killers like artist, huntress hell even trickster is better.

I advise the community comes up with ideas to give him an edge because if they cant and behaviour wants to actually start selling those slinger skins there gonna give him back the quickscope or tone back the ads changes. He hasnt appeared in any community content (at least gameplay wise since his nerf). What does that say about his current situation? Even scott, zubat acknowledges that he needs help. How can the commumity be so blind?

I have ideas like charged exposed shots, a meter build up on his gun that grants him an empowered shot, Faster muzzle velocity, longer range with a stronger harpoon. Any of these ideas would give slinger a chance but as of right now hes just a bench warmer tbh.

I play Slinger pretty much every day, and he's still extremely strong. If you really insist that he's bad, then having a niche as a killer that is only good in the hands of one-tricks isn't too bad in my humble opinion. He pretty much only loses to loading into one of the oversized maps and having survivors split on gens (but every killer loses to this). To be fair though, he's extremely dependent on STBFL to stay viable.

His unique gimmick is that he can hit you pretty much anytime and at any loop, ADS is still very quick relative to what you get out of it, and he's got much better zoning than Trickster and Huntress. Huntress has a massive wind-up and throws a whale at the survivor, but Slinger can ADS very fast and shoot through a pinhole to get a guaranteed health state. Trickster can do the same, but you can't always get that much value out of it.

Reverting the nerf would catapult him into S tier, which we don't really need when we already have The Big Three (yes, I think Slinger is that good). Charged exposed shots or having stronger chain would be way too much and swing him into being unloopable. Longer range and a higher projectile speed are both good buffs, however. Giving him a small TR radius again gives him a niche as the only pseudo stealth ranged killer when using M&A, which gives people a reason to play him again.

As for community suggestions, I have suggested many. Even one earlier today. Just no one in the DbD community cares at all if you have a well-thought out opinion or suggestion, they just want to say "just uhhhhhh make it overpowered or delete it from the game ig lol." People aren't looking for actual solutions to DbD's problems, they just want to take the easy way out and say whatever requires the least thought.

i'd say that survivor can outplay every loop that deathslinger can get hits at in just about every situation. just about everyone is just waiting for deathslinger to get his revert more or less. Hopefully it happens sooner than later. Quickscope in particular needs reverts.

Terror radius is whatever, it was nice to get initial hits for his shot to be lethal when survivor wasn't paying attention though it will be fine if it just becomes lullaby or whatever if bothered the survivor that much.

I'd say you need to play more Slinger. If a survivor is doing the correct counterplay at a loop, you can counter their counter with mindgames, good predictions, and being unpredictable. I throw games to commit to difficult chases just to push the limits of what Slinger can do in chase. Then every time I play against someone doing X counterplay at X loop, I know how to counter it. e.g. if a survivor is crouching to dodge your harpoon, you can tap ADS to trick them into crouching and losing distance.

Yes, it's an enormous time investment just to get good at one killer, but people do the same thing with Huntress and other killers.

  • "ggswp" is censored. I have since switched to "ggs lmao"

I wouldn't consider it being the "Best Chasing Power"

It's alright, it has its flaws, but it's good.. they just overnerfed him for 0 reason.. they needa revert the nerf and then i'll be a happi slinger boi,

idk, getting a hit at pretty much every loop in the game is pretty monka, and you can even get hits at most loops if the pallet is dropped. Very few killers have the same level of strength. I've personally been on a quest to see which loops you can get downs with Slinger even after the pallet is dropped.

But yeah, it wasn't for 0 reason. Quickscoping and tap ADS were pretty much impossible to deal with as survivor, but the Terror Radius nerf was uncalled for.

    END GAME CHAT

This game would be depressingly boring without the "ggs wp <3" at the end of the game. No thank you, sir.

As for what I wish was never in the DbD, that would be Gideon's, Lery's, Badham, Ormand, Eyrie of Crows, Fractured Cowshed, Shelter Woods, and RPD. 1000 times, RPD.

  • Deathslinger is actually still very good. I honestly think he's a contender for having the best chasing power in the game, second to Nurse. Just no one plays him because he requires a lot of time and skill and has lots of counterplay (unlike many other good killers).

Learning that you can get a hit at just about every loop and learning all the trickshots is all well and good, but he loses to hold W and pre-drop pallets... like most killers.

  • imo, CoH would never have been an issue if it was released as Boon: We'll Make It instead of Boon: 2016 Self-Care.

  • It depends on how much I like the survivors I'm vs'ing, the mood I'm in, and why I think the person DC'd.

If I offer a farm they accept quickly, cool. If not, I just kill everyone ASAP.

If I've had a lot of DC's lately (e.g. playing Trickster), then I'll probably ignore it and play normally.

As for why they DC'd, well, usually it was because they're salty they went down quickly or multiple times in a row. I usually only farm on DC's that are just kind of sadness inducing, if that makes any sense lol

Yeah and when the whole team is doing that and i kill them without mercy i get called out "why dont you meme with us tryharder baby killer"

"We arent making any gens, why dont u meme"

The fun in this game is always at the expense of the other side

"Broooo we're just playing the game for fun, broooo. Abide by my definitions of fun and play along broooo, you're a sweaty loser tryhard killer for wanting to play the game normally broooo."

A farming meme game is fun and relaxing every now and again, but I don't enjoy them back to back. It's like a sweet candy; having one is very nice, but having the whole bag hurts your stomach.

    ============================================================================================================

On the subject of the post, yeah, some killers are way too prideful. They can't admit that chasing one guy around one dropped pallet is game throwing. Instead it's "gen rushing loopers smh my head." Coming from a guy that will throw a game chasing one guy at a dropped pallet for science. I don't take it personal if someone holds W and dead hards for distance, but I do find it tilting.

That being said, I will blame the map if I lose a lot of the time. If you are vs'ing competent survivors on a strong map, you'll struggle even with the best build you can bring on your best killer. Not that there's nothing you can do, you just have to adapt and turn up the sweat. People are willing to excuse camping and tunneling if you're nice in end game chat.

Some survivors are also too prideful. They can't admit that failure to get a timely unhook gives me an easy chance to camp to second stage, or that body blocking with BT means I get a free hook on the body blocker. Instead it's "tunneling camping killer, camp harder lol." Those same survivors get VERY salty when you slug them to dodge DS.

  • STBFL is pretty far from overrated. If anything, it's underrated.

It helps you melt through health states and makes your chases end in just a handful of seconds. It's especially good if you need to camp someone and force a 1 for 1, since you're almost guaranteed one or two downs out of it.

    Edit:

Corrupt Intervention and NOED are way more overrated in my opinion. I can't count how many times I've spawned on an uncorrupted gen as survivor, and NOED usually only gets you one or two downs per game before it is cleansed.

  • I've been seeing a lot more survivors running around with bond and leading the killer to their teammates in solo queue.

Haven't seen it much at all as killer since I'm in MMR hell. Saw it a LOT as killer on console before crossplay, however.

    Edit:

I don't really mind survivors memeing around near the end and trying to befriend the killer to get hatch if the game is pretty much over, however. I also don't mind teaming in end game all that much if they're helping me find a survivor that betrayed the other survivors or threw the game (e.g. unhooking in the my face for easy tunnels, or a Claudette that was hiding in a bush for 5 minutes)

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It's not an MMR issue. You can be an elite survivor above the softcap and still have multiple games in a row with teammates throwing games. Or not even throwing games, but teammates well outside of you and the killer's skill range.

People say they don't want this game to be competitive, or they don't want matchmaking to be competitive. I am asking, genuinely: how fun are you actually having being forced into games with players who aren't even trying to win? One game, fine. How about at least half of your games on any given night?

Let's just imagine that someone knew their MMR couldn't functionally increase any further for matchmaking purposes. Are the devs really saying their time investment means nothing, and their skill means nothing? Sorry about your luck, but these are the teammates you get unless you want to play in a 4 man SWF every time you play survivor? No other game does this. It's not right that players who want to be optimal and essentially play at Masters/GM are forced into playing with Silver/Gold teammates and there's literally no other game mode for solos. Even if you aren't elite, some players still want to play to win.

I feel this in my soul. I've played with so many people that will say things like "I'm going to waste my time doing nothing but totems because I know it annoys you." Like man, if you're playing a game, at least play along and try to win. Don't throw just because you can.

TBH i started letting no mither people go because of the challenge, and i don't want them to suffer through another game and making their and their teammates' games worse.

I did it in full swf sabo squad, so it wasn't that hard, but for solo Q that challenge i know may be horror. So I just let them go, finish that challenge and don't suffer anymore

Same. I've been letting No Mither gamers go bc it's not an easy challenge.

  • Claudette makes me feel an intense burning hatred at the memories of survivors holding games hostage by hiding for literal hours. It has exclusively been Claudette players. I always try to make sure they die first and they die early, because if I kill their friends I'm going to be stuck for 30 minutes looking for Claudettes.

Leon, Ash, and Yui tend to kill their teammates by unhooking in the killer's face, so I dislike them for often ruining games. I dislike Nancy for similar reasons, but instead she leaves people to die on hook or funnels them (unhooking and then stealthing, forcing the killer to chase the person that got unhooked).

Jakes are the stereotypical "massively overconfident survivor that DCs the moment they go down." It's annoying to get clicky'd, but it's satisfying to see the disconnect symbol replace Jake's character portrait. Steve and Felix are pretty similar, but don't disconnect as often. Nea is like this too, but not as often since most Nea's are pretty cool.

All the other survivors tend to be pretty fun and chill. Quentin is especially based, and Cheryl is the most likely survivor to befriend me and get hatch. A cool Steve is a VERY cool player, same with Ash. Ace is fun because they are either very good or memelords, or both. Elodie is my waifu, so she gets special treatment lol
