  • Another reason why I will not be returning to Killer anytime soon. BT buff, MoM returns, easy infinites still exist. Still nerf Killers, and I bet we'll even get an Oni nerf soon because nobody can actually play the game against him apparently even though it's very easy not to die.

Not even worth the stress playing the role now at the high ranks.

So what do I against an Oni with his ability on?

All I learned is that its easy to loop a Killer without an ability(What a surprise!). Hope for a teammates to do most of the important stuff.

    Gotcha.

Yeah, you know, actually playing the game and survive.

Stealth during his only 50 seconds of actually being able to do something so you can treat him like every M1 Killer.

Actually doing Gens helps you to win.

Man you kids love showing tru3 on this forum, you realize this was map specific right? If this were a map like most of the rotten fields good luck.

You might not like him but he has incredible knowledge and ability to play the game. I'm not his biggest fan, but damn if he doesn't get results. No, I don't agree with him on the Wraith before you say anything about that in advance.

Also stop making Oni out to be a god. He is far from the best killer in the game. People need to adapt to him because he is new. The same thing has happened with each Killer that has come out.

  • I think this is actually the only reliable tier list I have ever seen for this game. Congrats! 🤣

  • I ended up with a Yellow Rank killer as Red Rank Survivor yesterday and I could tell pretty soon after the game started (poor guy didn't have Ruin or anything to slow our progress). It made the game feel very hollow, and I was even debating just offering myself to the poor guy after scoring enough for a safety pip.

Our team were two Reds and two Purples after checking the post-game chat too.

    It's pretty unfair. 😪

  • I agree with you on this topic OP.

Can't every offering simply be like an Envelope at least? You have no idea how well you are going to be doing in each category until the game gets going, e.g. you might have to be more altruistic than other members of the team if they are doing gens but you've burnt an Objective offering so you barely get any extra BP post-game.

It's sad, and the lack of BP earned is more and more depressing with each new Killer/Survivor that comes with each DLC (more Bloodwebs and Perks to earn).

  • Level up your killer to the high ranks friend, I'll be awaiting your next post on how easy it is to play then.... 😁👍️

Hes ok. Theres a guide on youtube by Tru3Ta1ent on how to outplay him. Highly recommended and I think if every survivor watches this they can adjust with him.

    Posted it above haha.

Can we please not circulate this video as a tutorial on how to counter Oni. He literally never gets chased with the Oni's power up a single time the entire match.

He literally shows you to stay near safe loops, and to be careful when he's using his power. The point to avoid the power!

Just treat him as you would Billy, his power is only up for around 50 seconds without add-ons. It's not that hard honestly.

As posted by another person on the forums earlier today, Tru3 has a video on it already.

  • The Oni's not even been out for a full month yet? You can't ask for nerfs on a Killer who is new and can actually be countered by using safe spots and loops effectively.

Also, I would advise running DS + Unbreakable so that slugging is not an option. It is a hard counter and will force the Killer to start picking people up, as well as punishing those that tunnel too.

His upcoming changes that were leaked seem great, actually. Removing the need basically to switch between treatment and punishment modes.

If the need for stance-switching was removed that would be great in a chase, as it would add more mind game potential to his kit. You could fake a shock to bring an early pallet down or to prep for an M1 hit for example. However, I haven't seen anything in the updated descriptions that specifies the removal of them yet though. 😫

I mean, disagree that Legion is worse than Clown, but can't deny that doctor is the worst in the game at high ranks (stomps low ranks). But, you have a very pessimistic approach to the perk. PWYF and Nemesis and maybe even Dark Devotion can play for some fun time on killers like Myers, Hillbilly, Ghostface.

Is it good though? Not too sure. I saw OhTofu try a build with it on Myers and it looked really fun actually!

I disagree, as Clown at least has an insta-down add-on, whereas Legion synergises with nothing post-Feral Frenzy nerf which ruins any playstyle that could work with them. Also, they still feel very slow for some reason (PWYF helps out more than before).

Also, as you noted Nemesis has to be part of a combo for it to become decent on any kind of killer build which takes up slots higher rank killers really don't have.

Doctor is not the worst killer at high ranks as you can still 4k/Pip on the smaller maps (also Impossible Skill Checks weed out players not paying attention), and he gains information on Survivors, and slows the game down with Tier III Madness on the bigger maps (again add-on dependent).

I think that as all of the Oni's perks are still relatively new, people are just trying out what they have paid for but I do believe that more people will revert back to the older perks in a month or two.

  • I thought everybody was already running DS + Unbreakable for a free getaway?

Well, at least that's what I've been seeing in my games anyway.

  • My hype for the perk completely died when the Legion nerf in terms of synergy got announced.

It's a great perk when you're in the middle of a Jungle Gym chase, but I still wish that Legion would have synergised with it (Legion is behind Clown as the worst killer in the game now).

Not really a perk you can use on its own though, you have to have a combo to work with it which immediately eats up two perk slots that aren't Ruin.

Nemesis also only works if a Survivor stuns you, and you could in fact go a whole game where a Survivor never even stuns you.

  • In a similar vein of this topic, please don't buff Doctor I beg! I love him as he is (unless Aura reading is going to be his new permanent thing than just the odd scream).

  • The Oni is a good killer, but not a great one. He is quite easily loopable, and is less threatening than Billy as his insta-down requires setup before it can be used (and can only be used for a limited duration!).

Infinites are also one of his biggest weaknesses, and actually suffers from Mind Games around objects worse than Billy due to massive height. Make him pay for using his power and force him to waste it by using safe loops (you'll know which loops to use the moment you work out the Killer).

Nurses got nerfed hard as requested by numerous players, and so is the reason you barely see her played anymore (she's stupidly hard to use), and Billy can be looped for years (he's not as good as Spirit or Freddy).

Also, controlling the Oni is like trying to move a Challenger 2 Tank in a constant 360 degree circle. It's really hard to use him.

  • As has been mentioned many times, Killers should also be motivated to play SWF in some way as to lessen the blow of the bullying that will inevitably occur at the higher ranks (e.g. higher BP gains, points scored, etc).

If you are having trouble playing killer in 2019 that's on you.

You are certainly the minority as shown in statistical information or by any streamer.

Otz just played 16 games of trapper without Ruin and brown add ons and 0 games were 5 gens completed

So you are going to use the best Trapper player in the game as an example? Great reasoning there.

Seriously though are you playing Killer against Red Ranks yourself? If so, can you record the results of all of your past 16 games so we can see how well you do as Killer in 2019?

  • Because then you'd dodge every single SWF lobby which would slow matchmaking down a lot. Especially when you're at high ranks you basically play an SWF every game.

Yeah, I picked her up looong before her rework, so the nerf is just a minor inconvenience. I stack the 2 recharge add-ons (I have hundreds of them stockepiled, lol), and it feels almost the same really.

Now she is really hard to learn. Its simple math why. You blink less per match = less practise per match = it takes you more matches = more time to learn. What took weeks pre-rework, now takes months. Honestly you might as well pick up Sprit instead. She is much easier and you can get almost the same results.

Yeah, she's who I usually play. I only play Freddy, Spirit or Billy now because of how unforgiving the game is right now. It just gets boring playing the same thing over and over again, at least as Survivor you can actually enjoy the thrill of the chase, whereas it is simply an annoyance as a Killer.

  • Flashlights are fair imo, you can counter them by looking up or looking at those beautiful wall textures.

Or you could run Lightborn. 😜

Yea, I honestly won't blame him. I as Nurse-main can deal with the imbalance quite well, but I imagine that people who main weakers killers will be burned out quite quick. And I know that Tru3 tried to always play every killer equally, so it really was just a matter of time until he joined the dark side.

Man, I wish I could play Nurse. Been practicing for past couple of weeks but I am absolutely terrible as her lol. I've even been using the Brown add-on that lets you see where the blink lands to get a feel for how not to blink into walls and that didn't help me haha.

Also great to see Nurse players now though, they are always the deadly and fantastic Killers that appear at the high ranks and make you mind game the LOS blockers far more than anyone else due to the blink.

Wait, Tru3 actually stopped playing killer for now? Haven't watched him for a while, because I find his neverendling negativity incredible repetive, but I am still curious, since I respect his opinion of the game.

Yeah, pretty sure he's been playing Survivor for the past couple of months now I think. It is really hard at high ranks to play Killer - kudos goes out to people that can actually achieve at least a couple of kills per trial.

  • The devs were planning on changing how Ranking works over the next few months according to their roadmap released in June:

    roadmap4.png

Not entirely sure how it will be changed though, and if Rank Rewards will finally be added or not.

  • @Monlyth said:

Killer queues are almost instant. The problem is that not enough people are playing Killer. And between things like gen speeds, SWF depip squads, the god-awful emblem system and Decisive Strike, I can't imagine why.

Since switching from Killer to Survivor, I have noticed these wait times too. I agree about the reasoning for why I switched sides from Killer to Survivor though. Killer is NOT fun at high ranks. As many people have said, Tru3Ta1ent (and you can't ignore that he has incredible knowledge of the game as a whole) has switched from Killer main to Survivor recently due to how you cannot make one mistake without losing the entire game.

There needs to be an actual incentive to play Killer at high ranks as it is simply just Bully Simulator 2019 right now.

Also are Rank Rework/possibly Rewards planned to be announced in the upcoming months? (according to the Road Map released in June?)

  • @Superstar_Saga95 said:

What if they made it like a struggle match with the the killer and survivor both mashing a button, if they killer is able to mash better the survivor dies, if the survivor wins they get the killer off them and they stun the killer.

This wouldn't be fair on people with disabilities or conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. One side would always have the advantage (especially if you're not good at mashing).

  • @Waldbeere said:

If I see purple green or even yellow ranks in my team I want to be able to dodge

That's the reason why it's not coming back. You increase the queue times for other players.

It's not fair for Red ranks to suffer because of another player's lack of experience with the game though (not doing gens, constantly healing, unable to run loops, quick downs, etc). That's like saying to accept a loss because of how long it would take to find a game otherwise. Also, this would affect Killer posthumourously as the Red ranked Surv will be able to slaughter lower ranked Killers in the long run. It doesn't help either way.

  • @Blueberry said:

A lot of comments on here from people who clearly don't play killer and survivor at rank 1 to realize how abused DS is.

"You get 1 shot and it's gone, like deliverance."

    No, it's not like deliverance.

Deliverance requires you to have made a safe rescue first. You can have games where that doesn't even get activated before you could use it. That means it's asking of something to make it work and even if it does activate the killer didn't lose a hook for it. DS asks nothing of the survivor and can be game winning.

1 DS stun can cost you the game as killer, much less 4. Acting like taking that stun is no big deal is being completely out of touch with high rank game play.

100% agree. I feel that everyone hasn't been able to play Killer at the highest ranks, nor know how important time and pressure are to each trial. The moment you run into a team that can Gen Rush and survive on loops effectively (plus infinites, etc), you just get bullied and stomped so hard.

I always slug the potential survivor that has it anyways (there are a fair few clues the survivor can give that they are running it). However, this again wastes time that could be spent chasing someone else or disrupting Gen progress around the map.

  • To survivors that say Killer is OP, etc etc. You have DS, BT, MOM (revived!), Exhaustion perks, etc. It's literally near impossible to kill everyone or maybe anyone if you play optimally. Also, god loops, pallets and Infinites.

Yes, it started with Badham Preschool, and kinda continued with Hawkins.

The most recent map doesn't seem any different though, and none of the older maps have been touched as far as pallet density. Coal Tower still has a guaranteed double pallet spawn.

Yeah, it makes it extra painful on maps that still have the opportunity for infinites like Groaning Storehouse, and even the God Bus loop on maps like Blood Lodge. Oh yeah, infinites still exist which kinda forces me to use certain map offerings when I play Billy for example (looping/jungle gyms being his weakness).

  • You can't always confirm SWF though due to how the lobbies can be made before you get added to them though.

  • @TheRockstarKnight said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/901902#Comment_901902

It's a band-aid, not a solution. You'll pip up again unless you play Corner Wraith every other game.

Even then, it doesn't reduce your chances of facing a good SWF. Rank 10 Killers can be matched against Red Rank Survivors.

The devs have also changed Rank Reset. This Friday the 13th, Red Ranks will become Rank 5s instead of Rank 10s. You won't even face different players; just the same SWFs you faced yesterday.

Can confirm this myself. Did it during a double BP period to max the amount BP I earned for the duration of the event (to avoid Gen Rush). However, I just ended up playing similar if not the same players eventually anyway. You can't avoid pips! Just wish I didn't have to play the same three killers at the highest ranks to prevent being bullied into oblivion due to Gen Rush & lack of Killer power.

  • Moris should only be removed when Keys are removed from the game. Free kills vs. Free Escape are devastating to both sides of the game and only encourages negative gameplay.

  • Match results on both sides. If I could get Merciless without the 4K I'd take it any day due to not having to worry about killing EVERYONE for it, and the bar for Ruthless/Brutal would be lower too so that would reduce the stress and the need for extra sweat at higher ranks.

  • Wasn't there supposed to be a pallet rework for all maps in order to shorten loops and minimize pallets per area? Did that just get scrapped completely?

I do agree any Killer game from Rank 1-6 is no longer enjoyable, and using the same three killers gets extremely boring for both sides after so long.

  • Adept David is a lasting achivement that lets people know that you have survived with No Mither lol.

  • I played nothing but Killer up until the other day (grinding from low Green Rank to High Purple), until I decided to try Survivor for a while. I must admit that there is a lot less pressure when playing the Survivor side, due to duties being split up between four people compared to one. The chasing is probably my favourite element after having to put up with looping myself during my time playing Killer, the rush is much more enjoyable on the Survivor side.

I made my way from Yellow Rank Survivor up to today where I am now Red Rank, and continuing to enjoy Survivor due to the lack of stress and frustration hurled at you in the post-game lobby (I am aware that there is an option to turn this off, but I do like to speak to teams from time to time or even to say how well the other side played).

Not really wanted to play Killer since the Nurse nerf, nor due to the upcoming Legion nerf as it enforces a change of playstyle that I do not like/agree with due to how Feral Frenzy has been changed.

I think there needs to be an incentive for Killers now, especially with SWF bullying and bodying them at the higher ranks. I must admit that I haven't had an issue with SoloQ yet as a Survivor, although I'm sure I will likely find an issue sooner rather than later with it.

  • Reading threads like these make me scared for Billy boy too. It's only a matter of time before his 1-Hit down potential and map coverage are taken away to some degree. Sad days. 😥

  • I'm actually going ask BHVR to please not touch the Doctor at all, as I don't want him to be nerfed under guise of a 'buff' which has been seen by the poor Legion gang.

  • Oh WhAt NoW?????????????

  • People are forgetting that asking to 'buff' killers may actually result in them getting nerfed instead, e.g. The Legion outside of the M/S increase - Sloppy + STBFL changes being bad for Feral Frenzy now (FF will no longer be a basic attack).

Be careful what you wish for, and I'm saying this as I love playing the Doc.

  • I've heard of a very bad issue of input lag, with characters controlled by the player appearing to teleport as if the internet connection dropped from the Stadia on a number of games. I've also heard of frames dropping in addition to this due to the 'streaming' element of the system.
