Waiting out my break and reading these posts aren't making me want to jump back and play as Killer again admittedly. Sadly it seems like something only a really long break will resolve (possibly up to a year), while we wait on the balancing issues to be sorted at a base minimum.
-
If I ever go back to playing Killer after my break, I will from now on. Nobody deserves to die like that. RIP Kobe.
-
Rank doesn't matter in the game right now, there's no incentive to Rank up either other than to have unfun and troublesome games. There's so much that needs to be resolved with matchmaking right now that I'm in the middle of a break away from the game until it will eventually get sorted (along with other issues).
-
Nice to hear you're enjoying the game still at that level, however I am also high rank and do not enjoy it at all.

I feel like reworking Toolboxes is the way to go instead of flat out removing them.
Anything to remove how ridiculously OP they are would be fine with me, but the fact that they can just as easily be found in a trial with perks to bolster them such as Ace in the Hole, Plunderer's, etc makes removing them far easier to do to make an impact.

Good compared to de ja vu sure. Pale shadows of what they used to be. Killer mains just hate the idea of survivors keeping any good perks or items.
Survivor main comment.
-
Toolboxes removed from the game, Prove Thyself hard nerf, Gen speed completion increase in time needed to complete. Fair game then.

Typically red ranks on both sides- little behind on killer at the moment since I was out of town since the reset. All in all, I went ahead and checked my stats and it turns out I play killer about 53.44% of the time.
I do agree with what you're saying, although I do think we're talking about a best case scenario. You and I may power through it, but to give an example, what if the other guy is playing with a couple of friends who are newer to the game and haven't been practicing skill checks for the last few years? What quite often happens is that first generator will go off, but then nothing else happens as the rest of the team is running around searching for a totem. Then I have to either decide if I should continue doing generators by myself or go cleanse the totem so the others will help out.
I wouldn't base the entire thing on a single scenario, there's far too many variables. I can only speak from my personal experience, and I've had plenty of teammates who can't handle it (after over three years).
My thoughts are about the same as yours in terms of emblems, though. As someone who doesn't use Ruin (or any slowdown perks) myself, I definitely feel it. Thankfully there's also a change to address that aspect, so if someone's concern is their emblem score, it should be lessened at the same time as this change.
As you said in another thread, the ranking system should readjust those players accordingly. If a Survivor cannot hit a Skill Check, then they do not deserve to play against/with better players. The player who has friends could just simply make an alt account if they cared about the Rank they are at on their main account. The matchmaking is a massive problem as well as I'm sure you are aware due to this.
Players who cannot hit Skill Checks at the higher Ranks should simply not be there, and the same goes for the player who was the higher Rank in bringing them into a game with them, as they clearly don't care about the rank that they have to begin with (they prefer to casually play than play competitively).
Sadly, it feels like there is always going to be a Casual/Competitive split in the community and the players that have played through their mistakes and pain are being punished by having to play with Survivors that cannot even hit a Skill Check.
Survivors have perks such as Prove Thyself, Decisive Strike, etc which can be advised by a better player to be used by teammates (who don't even have to be amazing) to devastate the Killer's chances.
I don't even care about the number of Kills at this point. I'm the same as Tru3 in that I want to pip. These changes to Ruin cannot be made up by simply changing how 'Gatekeeper' works. The whole system needs a massive overhaul.

Hey, atm i like to play killer. My Main is spirit and iam Rank 10 atm. But every game it is red rank survivors and its too difficult for me. Brown and yellow ranks are too easy but i cant get survivors similar to my Rank like green and purple... thats a big reasons why this game is unfun for me. Now i dc until rank 15 so i get lower ranks destroying the fun for many other ppl coz waiting for a game for survivors on ps4 takes quiet the Time. I will also face yellow rank and brown rank survivors who will get destroyed by me but at least i can win. I hope they will change sth its just stupid how it is right now..
I'm sorry, but it's only going to get worse from here. It's been this way for a long time and I don't think its going to change anytime soon. It's terrible.

Internal playtests, and playtests with select experienced players. This was posted before the PTB began (as you can see by the date in the screenshot).
Peanits I know you are a Red Rank Survivor yourself. I've seen you play with the likes of Farmer John, Puppers, etc. Surely you know how easy it is right now to just power through Ruin, or even disable it right? You can see how hard Killers are throwing themselves just to fulfill the Emblem System and now its been made even harder for them. You even use infinites and loops to show how easy the Survivor role is. Surely you mentioned these things to the other devs?

As a survivor main who dabbles in killer matches, I just want to thank all of you killer mains. The game in its current patch is heavily favored towards the survivors and you are all awesome for giving us games to play despite the one-sidedness. Thank you!!!
I say the same to the poor Killers that entertain the system too.
-
Glad I have a VR headset now and ditching this blatant Killer bullying, because Survivor is so mind-numbingly easy to play now. Not even funny.

Truth be told, I don't think they're playing at all outside of trying certain mechanics. It just doesn't make sense how most of these changes get through. It's like dealing with the PUBG team.
100%.

i guess... But I bet there is a bunch of people who play killer who don't care about the changes. Plus those who play survivor now cause of the crappy queue times. Faster queue times means more people will play that side.
Not everyone just focuses on one side of the game.
Fine, but I'm not playing Killer again until they do something good instead of frequent nerfs without the Devs actually playing the game at a high level to justify said changes, because they are clearly out of touch with the current game state.

"I'm not happy at all with these changes to Ruin considering Killers have no other way of slowing Gen Rush early on in the game."
You know... You can chase people. And injure them. And hook them.
This is by far the best Slowdown.
You know that good survivors will actually do gens so that this is useless right?
You know - one guys gets chased and then the other three pop a gen? No? Try playing at the high ranks as Killer.

Don't worry if players stop playing killer and then goto survivor. There will be players that will be happier with faster queue times as killer.
Typical Survivor main comment. 😂
-
Agreed. I've been avoiding mentioning Survivor-sided bias for the devs - but this is really showing how they are assessing the game. I don't feel like they are playing high rank Killer with some of the comments I've seen about the role.

I M P O S S I B L E S K I L L C H E C K S:
Perks: Unnerving Presence, Distressing, Overcharge, Ruin/Huntress' Lullaby
Add-ons: Calm III, Order III (Purples)
Basically what MegaWaffle said above. Most fun build in the game for me!
-
Pepega moment from both Killer and teammates that game lol.
-
I use it as a means to signal that a save can be made. I always use Kindred because I'm sick of teammates refusing to save me because they are too scared of the chance that the person on the hook MIGHT be being camped. I use the wave as a passive-aggressive 'hurry up' with it equipped.

Did you take into account a 4-man SWF that would run DS?
This is what happens at Red Ranks, but I don't think enough people have seen play at that level to understand the devastation it causes yet.
-
@NEVELEVEN11 said:
No. Wave means killer isnt camping, save me. No waving means killer is close.because one obviously wouldnt press A with the killer close by.
I do this with Kindred equipped everytime as long as I know that the Killer isn't a stealth Killer.
-
This data is useless. It only mentions kills, not the end of match result - e.g. Entity Displeased, Brutal/Ruthless/Merciless Killer.
Kills are not what ultimately decides how well a killer has done, and as previously mentioned by Peanits (I believe) - you should take these stats with a grain of salt.

I don't understand your argument in place then..?
I'm saying that people will use Moris as soon as possible, and won't stall the game.
-

I disagree with the Mori part. You can stall the game purposely for more XP/BP.
Not everyone cares about XP/BP though. People will just use it to try and end the game early, and swing a massive advantage their way.
I for one, do not care about any 'bonus' from playing with my food (without the perk that is).

If you're worried about a impossible end-game please note that there's Blood Warden, NOED, Hex: Devour Hope and also Moris. Lol
Nobody at higher ranks run those perks because they aren't helpful throughout the game, maybe Devour in some kind of build.
Moris end the game too soon and are an issue in their own right (same goes for keys).

So if you don't facecamp/tunnel people out of the game/force DS early, you're rewarded with an impossible End Game?
Yeah, it just seems like an early game rush meta would occur, much like Otz's old aggressive Legion before their last nerf.....or Basement Bubba lol.
-
@Pulsar said:
Yeah, DS doesn't need any buffs. It needs changes, but not buffs.
Make the timer last an infinite amount of time BUT, it is immediately cancelled once you fully heal, work on a gen, or someone else gets hooked.
Please note, it will not run out if you are slugged or being chased.
I was with you until you said slugged or chased lol.
-
@Cixon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/944729#Comment_944729
No, it's a buff because it allows the perk to perform longer on the last hook.
Say you're on your last hook and haven't used DS, it won't start the timer until downed to dying state.
Oh right. I still don't think DS deserves a buff, the perk is too strong already - but it doesn't need a nerf either. Just a change in how the perk functions as Pulsar mentioned.
-
Errrm....I thought DS could already be saved if you didn't hit the Skill Check (i.e. no input during the animation), or did that get nerfed too?
Also this looks like more of a nerf than a buff to me (not like we need a DS buff anyways, but that's just my perspective on the perk).

I would love it if Kindred and Ruin were made as base set to their respective roles, as I'm sure many people have requested before. Unfortunately, removing perks from the game entirely isn't something that really happens in DBD.

once survivors will swap BT with Spine Chills I think stealth killers meta will come to a brisk halt.
I'm wondering if it will happen myself. Spine Chill isn't completely appreciated for what it does by everyone yet, and the fear of reverting back to Billy, Spirit, etc might prevent people from adding it to their current perk lists. Would very interested to see what the outcome would be if it did happen though. Would Killers go for the full TR builds that cover map again for example.

It's an Update, not a rework.
It's a rework. His power has completely changed in how it works.
-
@Majora said:
doesnt really seem like a buff . seems like a nerf. Losing constant passive madness. instead only every sixty seconds sixty is sooooooooooo long.
Now he is also gonna lose his garunteed grabs from treatment mode. hardly any better during loops too. doctor needed buffs not this soft rework/nerf
Every shock is a guaranteed tier, tier 3 always reveals location - shock a Survivor twice and they'll be forced to waste time to stop revealing where they are to you.
He doesn't have stances anymore, which prevents the slow and tedious switching. They can change addons and tweak them accordingly to help with his power.
PTB will be there to see if 60 seconds is too long. It's too early to discuss how this time actually is in real time without trying him out first.

Mostly because switching mics on the go is a pain, since they attach to your shirt. It's much better to have someone there all the way through, and I feel like having a designer who's actually making the changes is far more interesting to watch. Get the news straight from the source, basically.
And also because I look like a bad drawing of Danny Devito.

Yeah, but that's what testing is for. Hopefully it won't make that big an impact as you're basically getting Whispers on steroids every 60 seconds. Puts a damper on my previous statement on pallet looping a little bit mind.

Also, just found out about the Iridescent Queen add-on. I approve of the memery. :P

OHHHHHHHHH BOI.
-
@MrChillsX said:
I been saying for ages.. Just allow his shock to instant and increase his shock range.. maybe add another maddness level. The only thing needed for the rework is his add-ons.
That was what Peanits was saying the devs are planning to implement in another thread earlier basically, obviously he could get buffed/nerfed during the PTB to accommodate his power changing.
