obviously you won't equip all the perks to combat x or y thing, but don't go thinking that in a normal game you will start early using only slowdown and meta perks. You need to learn and grow to a point where you no longer needs to use these chase/information perks or use a killer that has a lot of map pressure.

So you suggest to become so good that you don't need to use slow down and meta perks just so that you can always use anti swf perks?

  • @Zozzy said:

You can't. People will tell you to equip X perk that does nothing for you in a normal game so that is not a solution. COH has made this strat more viable because it is so easy to heal. Throw on break out and enjoy the EZ escapes.

True , you won't be equipped to face swf every match so perks are not a solution

  • @randonly said:

when you hit the one in front of hook bodyblocking it, you will see that this survivor lost the hitbox and you can move inside him, ignoring the hitbox and you can easy hook. You just need to hit the one survivor right in front of the hook, you don't need to hit the others.

About boil over, iron grasp and other perks can counter it (and help against others who are blocking the hook, especially Mad Grit or Starstruck)

flashlights = lightborn counter it, Infectious Fright reveals location of nearby survivors

and if you're still learning about how loops work, use endurance, spirit fury, Bamboozle, etc.

it's not convenient wasting perk slots just to use iron grasp or lightborn tbh but hitting someone wasted time for the one you're carrying to escape

  • @Zozzy said:

You need to do all the work to save bhvr from upgrading their EAC and spending money.

Record and upload the match along with filling out a form. Personally i will just DC because i am not going to record every match i play or set up something to record at a moments notice and burden myself with having to manage that when THEY can put the cash in and do it themselves.

they won't take photos because they can be edited.

This is Ironic I just played another game same map and 2 Feng were using speed hack they literally crossed half of the map when I did hit them one of them had a russian name , why this game is full of hackers recently? like 2 games in a row especially survivors some are using sneaky hacks but it was obvious and some are straight away flying around and trolling you

I usually try to get a hit before I kick the gen. Kicking then chasing just loses u pressure. That saying kicking is almost worthless unless you have pop.

That's better for your own mental health.

Well I did the right thing , didn't think of disconnecting and it's a waste of time to do nothing

  • from my humble 2 months experience no one touches gens the majority of games are that way but when I play killer everyone gen rushes

  • well in my case I needed 1 pip so badly but in their case they didn't care it was unfair for me to try to win solo but get less BP and Pip than them

I think we both know what he means. Those guys were most likely just trolling the killer and had no intentions of playing the game normally. This guy had to do all of the gens himself because they refused to.

correct they literally just kept hovering around him and didn't care about gens at all I thought they were distracting him and maybe someone else is doing another gen but with certain perk seeing their auras they just keep farming hooks and running the killer for fun no one decided to do any gens but the game didn't reward me for doing them and rewarded their playstyle instead , this is just 1 case I usually get survivors that get downed 1 min in or do no gens any way and die

  • @GuyFawx said:

Running the killer takes way more skill then staying on a gen just because they didnt help you they knew they didnt need to since you were popping them it was actually the smart play on their part. Remember there are 4 different emblems 3 of which usually entail running the killer and only one for just doing gens

That's not the point tho let's say I did my part it's as important , I got no pip , much much less bloodpoints and no one helped me and they got more bloodpoints and pip progress than I did my golden rule is usually do 2 gens if no one does anything then it's not worth it but when I decided let's do them alone I need to get certain rank to get more bloodpoints I ended up not winning I only needed 1 pip to progress lol which is weird but knowing that gen points gets maxed quickly let's say I did 2 then ran away to play with the killer too no one will do the remaining gens that's all

  • @KerJuice said:

What exactly are you trying to climb- your Grade or MMR? I’m guessing your grade since you referenced the +1. Keep in mind that only affects your grade. Remember there are emblems at the end of the match, which contribute to pipping (+1), and doing gens raise only your Lightbringer emblem. There is a cap to that so you can not “+1” off of gens alone. Same goes for the other emblems. You capped that Lightbringer emblem probably before you got to the fifth gen.

The reason why you pipped the second game was due to you being in chase, saving/healing, & doing a gen- you contributed to all of your emblems, giving you more points overall. That’s how the system was designed- it discourages players from not participating, if they want to “level up.”

not mmr I want to get more bloodpoints before the reset but how many objectives you need to pip up ?

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2806445#Comment_2806445

So because you're teammates were good at running the Killer, you've decided to throw your matches.

    That's some solid logic.

running the killer? that's just trolling people are bored and want to ######### around I just earned 2 pip easily by doing nothing so that's easier looks like ... My complain is that people doings gens don't get pip and high blood points in that situation the killer will get 4 kills since no one did gens and just ran around mindlessly I did my best to finish the gens but got no rewards for it

  • @Pulsar said:

So the other's literally distracted the Killer the entire match and then smartly left when NOED was in play?

Those are decent teammates, they didn't just kill themselves on first hook.

nope they did no gens just trolling the killer they all had 1st hook states but did 0 gens without me they won't do any gens but when someone unhooks you in front of a face camping killer that's not cool basically the killer wants at least 1 kill by camping me with noed and they went to open the gate while I was hooked and ran away so that's it I ain't doing any gens any more I'll just run around the whole match till someone finishes the gens

Plague is fun and can do great if you play her a certain way. at rank 1 swf they'll either not drink and remain broken or they'll all drink at the same time and hide during your power.

The trick I have found works the most is to identify a 4 Gen situation early which you can turn into killer sided tiles. If they play broken and approach your gens they are going down, she is 4.6 speed, she can do it.

If they start drinking.... Infect them back, protect your gens, when they drink again, use corrupt. Two, three or more times in a row. Hook or slug as needed. Tunnel one out then you pretty much won. Use this with Corrupt intervention and Gen regression (pop, pain resonance) 4th perk is a wildcard. Maybe something to help you with chases or just good ol bbq for the bp. Or eruption.

I have pulled some crazy stuff doing this in the game and other difficult maps against strong players.

I will get plague later on but grinding shards in dbd is painful takes so much time so it's gonna be another 100 hour probably before I get her or more

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2804883#Comment_2804883

Well you're in a time where ranking is significantly easier than it used to be. Used to, you could depip entire colors so you had to consistently do good to reach red ranks. Now all the new grades really do is show who plays longer and you get BP based on your grade every month on reset. Apparently now instead of ranks matchmaking is based off of MMR, but I don't really buy that lol.

A 50/50 is a 50/50 chance a survivor or killer will take a certain action. For example, a vault on a T&L wall. As killer, always take the inner route to go between walls to force the survivor to the outside and they will be presented with a 50/50. When they run back around the outside of the T or L wall, they will either need to vault, or fake the vault. They fake the vault, but you commit, you win the 50/50. If they take the vault, but you anticipated it and double backed, you get the hit and win the 50/50. In these situations, the survivor has to predict what you're going to do, but you move faster therefore you have the better chance of winning the 50/50. This is just one example but I think you get the gist.

Shack can be hard to mind game but you can anticipate the window vault. And you want to try to force them to drop that pallet as early as possible because you def want that out of the game. Also you always have the choice of abandoning the chase if you see a survivor headed towards shack, sometimes it's just not worth it. Since you're new, you REALLY need to get used to the maps and all the different tiles that spawn. It will help you out tremendously just having that knowledge. For example, remember that YOU control the chase and WHERE to zone the survivors. You'll hear the term "tiles" used as in "linking tiles". A survivor might rotate around a pallet loop a specific way to get a fast vault on a window to avoid dropping the pallet so they can keep using it. Be aware that survivors are thinking about that kind of stuff and you need to deny it so you can get the upper hand on that tile.

SWF's can be hard to deal with and if you suspect that you're playing with an SWF and see flashlights, bring lightborn. Or maybe even iron grasp and/or agitation if you see toolboxes. Also you can fake heading to a hook and switch at the last moment so they sabo the wrong hook. You should always expect body blocking with good survivors whether they are SWF or not. Try not to get fixated on downing/going after one survivor. Read the lobby. I tend to play each game different depending on how the game is going. For example I might abandon chase simply after injuring survivor to go pressure a gen I need to keep or injure another survivor. Keeping survivors injured can counter body blocking. In the very least they have to spend time healing instead of working on gens, or if they choose to stay injured, your next chase with them won't take as long.

Also, at the beginning of a match, figure out which gens would be easiest for you to control. Let them get the gens all the way across the map. The game gets easier if you can keep critical gens in the same area. That way you can watch hooked survivors & still patrol gens.

It's going to take time, honestly. But definitely familiarize yourself with maps and tiles, everything else you will figure out just from playing more. Killers have a high skill ceiling and so do survivors.

And just for reference, I main Legion. Not the greatest killer, but the most fun killer to play IMO and I LOVE the challenge. I still get steam rolled from time to time, but I have 3k hours in this game and consistently do well with both killer and survivor. I was garbo until about 1.5k hours.

I recommend playing both sides too. It'll help you understand what's going through the other's head during the game.

I just learned the fact that I need to pressure 3 gens scenario area more so I get an advantage late game I should avoid going for end of the map lone gens and thanks for all the tips :)

  • @Jplanas98 said:

As someone else mentioned, the ranks really don't matter. I find myself using that as an excuse as an argument sometimes but I'll be an ash rank Killer going against a full Red Rank team and still manage to beat them with little to no problem. But when I'm red rank, I go against Ash players that hand my ass to me on a silver platter.

But it basically comes down to either committing to one Killer and slowly get better with them and get higher in the MMR. Or play whatever Killer you want, take a few L's but eventually your MMR will reduce enough that you'll end up facing weaker survivors and the matches will go back to feeling a bit more "fair".

Well it matters because red ranks usually have all good perks they know how to play and they have good map knowledge but new killers or survivors won't have enough blood points and perks and knowledge . Just a month ago I was struggling to find gens but definitely the matchmaking system is weird I played a lot of competitive games and ranked systems and DBD is the most unfair since maybe less players especially killers and sweaty toxic 2k+ hour survivors need to find matches too so you get handed on a silver platter to them

  • @DyingWish92 said:

I have almost 2000 hours in the game and I still feel like this sometimes. Some games you simply can't do #########. I watched SpooknJukes stream tonight and the survivors did all 5 gens in 2 minutes and 47 seconds. He finished with 2 hooks and had some chases as well in between, I don't get it. No prove thyselfs or brand new parts. The speed at which survivors can do their objective is just absurd and its crazy base gen speeds have never been touched.

The gens get done so fast sometimes you wonder if they are cheating, most likely they aren't, survivors objective is fast if every stays on gens and knows when to pair up on them.

Exactly and Imagine new killers like me with 75h play time going against similar survivors it's pretty broken it's 1vs4 while they have the upper hand .. you can't do nothing against swf's the other day I faced 4 ttv survivors that finished gens quickly I just gave up

There's some neat Ghost Face builds you probably have access to! A Nurse's Calling / Knockout / Thrilling Tremors / Jolt is something I've tried and had some success with :) A bit of slugging, but its fun to catch folks completely by surprise as they're trying to recover.

I'm already using all the good perks and builds I have access too but it's not good enough sadly

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I suggest finding a killer you enjoy playing :)

If you're winning all your matches, then the system isn't working in your or your opponents' favor.

Certain builds will work better with the killers you have at your disposal, so look into what perks work best and strive to unlock them. Play around with them, and see how it goes.

I did , I enjoy Ghost face but he is too weak his play style makes it easy for survivors to gen rush ect , wraith is weak too and I liked blight but I only have 3000 shards so far I need more time to unlock him . The most broken killers are nurse and spirit and both are not my cup of tea I hate playing them I regret wasting shards on spirit :(

  • @herbaljellyfish said:

Ranks really don't matter but the way you play really does change when you play against better survivors. As with Wraith, you need to be body blocking when uncloaking, that's how he's meant to be used. Zone the survivors in chase then body block for easy hits. He's not top tier but he's pretty decent. Ghost face really isn't that great unless you're really good at sneaking.

Against good survivors, you have to force them into a 50/50 situation, which generally always works in the killers favor. Against good survivors, you can't really just mindlessly chase them. Start using your bloodstain to your advantage too. Mind gaming is the biggest tool killers have other than moving faster than survivors which is why forcing a 50/50 situation is good. Turn towards walls when picking survivors up to avoid flashlight saves or pressure them away before picking the downed survivor up. Learn how survivors loop shack, jungle gyms, pallet gyms and filler pallets. Learn where god pallets spawn and cut survivors off during chase. Don't stop to break filler pallets. There's lots of things you can do to end chases quickly. Don't get fixated on downing and hooking survivors. Your primary objective is to stop gens from getting completed for as long as possible, the hooks and kills will come naturally.

As for Ranks I disagree , from a new player experience I started playing 2 months ago and each higher rank it gets more difficult you can't just win 5 games to rank up easily in gold if you're a terrible killer as from my experience since silver I'm getting paired with red ranks you can tell from their skills that they're good and you know it's a bad match when pink wig neas come for you instead of you finding them the most thing that annoys me is survivors body blocking me from hooks and when the gates are open to stop me from downing someone or sabotaging hooks and the player base is too toxic . For Ghost face I did good because I'm good at sneaking I usually get gen grabs easily but playing sneaky usually is slower gives more time to gen rushers and it's either I sneak and land 1 hit then get in a chase that might take too long and I started using a lot of the advices you said like double checking the area before carrying a survivor . What's the 50/50 play style tho? And I struggle with loops like shack they just use the window and palette and run away in such scenario I'm giving time to gen doers I try to mind game and moon walk but it doesn't work killers are supposed to be fast but I struggle with hitting good survivors twice they will go from pallet to pallet to window to dead hard while gens are done but yeah I try to focus on gens but some maps are too large there is always a Claudette doing that gen you can't risk going to at the end of the map because by the time your return they will finish more gens , do you recommend any killers ?

Blight 100%. I'm new to Blight, only a few hours on him, and the basics of his power isn't too difficult. Watching Lilith Omen and his guide helped. His height has been fixed for a while now, so he isn't short anymore. As for the last point, it takes practice to know how far you can rush and what will or won't make you slide away.

everyone is saying blight so far he is my 100% purchase if it wasn't for perks I need hex ruin and devour to climb

  • @GuyFawx said:

If those are your only choices for next killer then hands down blight......be prepared tho as his learning curve is steep. If you however get amazing at him then your in the top % of killers as hes almost as good as Nurse. I want to say again tho that he takes an extremely large amount of play time to get good at so if you do pick him be prepared to be frustrated for a while also start out with lethal persuer. As for hag she is ok but takes so much setup time Hex ruin is definately a must have. Oni is mid tier so you wont get far with him but he can punish altruism he at least is probably the easiest to learn out of those 3

    Easy: Oni

    Medium: Hag

    Hard: Blight

So depending on how skilled you are take them in that order to learn

yeah I wish they had an option to try a killer solo or something I'm not sure if he is a good option without trying him first

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

Hag has the same short view as the Blight, actually. She's pretty short.

But that being said - all short killers actually more options for mind games on certain "Partial visability" loops due to their shorter stature that you are not going to have with Oni. Not to mention Oni is VERY LOUD and has a hard time sneaking up on anybody. He's more of a "Brute Force" killer.

My impressions of the 3 are as follows.

HAG - My strongest of the 3. 40 meters is more than enough distance if you are good at making sure the survivors don't split the gens and keep them grouped together. This essentially means that as the gens pop, the territory you have to defend gets shorter which makes your teleport range limitations a non-issue as long as you're good about keeping your traps placed. She can be outright oppressive when it comes to preventing unhooks. Devour Hope is undervalued to most people - you don't even need to get 5 tokens to get value out of it. Just getting 1 insta-down from 3 tokens alone makes the Hex worth it in my book as it not only saves time in that specific chase - it has a tendency to pull people off gens while they go looking for the hex.

BLIGHT - Strong killer, wish I was better at him. Unfortunately, my eyes are too bad to get much value out of him - have a hard time picking up where people are and judging how much I need to turn on every bump. Pity though, I really like the little freak.

ONI - One thing I realized really quickly with Oni is how good he is about picking up information on where survivors like to run. All you need to do is start spilling blood and the little orbs left behind leave you a ton of info. Like, who is willing to push gens injured, where people like to hide, the loops they favor and so forth. His snowball potential when using slugging builds is absolutely crazy.

the only problem is that earning shards takes forever and picking a new killer but not liking him will cost you forever to buy another one sadly I already bought 2 dlc's so I don't feel like wasting more money

You don't need it anymore. The meta has shifted and there's a good number of viable alternatives at this point. It's still the biggest and baddest regression perk but you will be disappointed if you are not used to relying on RNG to win.

I would be leveling up clown in your situation. Or maybe Artist. Pop / Bamboozle are just soooo good and you get both with 1 character. Whenever I have made a new account it went Bubba --> Clown ---> Plague. Corrupt is still the best 1 and done stall perk in the game.

I'm waiting for PGTW on shrine since clown is meh not the most fun killer to play but ruin with undying is viable I thinks so basically I need hag and blight

  • I'm in a bad spot because I need hex ruin so bad but I don't want to play hag and shrine probably won't have those perks

  • Is Oni good ? I'm thinking either blight or Oni they both have good potential to end chases but I'm worried that I might regret buying blight he looks easy and difficult at the same time

It shows your skill tho you can't just mindlessly play the game and get rank 1 ... It's hard to win 5 games sometimes but the fact that you can't lose rank makes it easier

If you want more BP a game with 8 hooks and 0K will give you more than a game with 4 hooks and 4K. Level Leatherface if you have him to get BBQ and Chili and then run that in a match. If you hook everyone once you're looking at about 50K per game. Also, with more escapes your games will get easier and you'll make more BP even if most of the survivors escape.

As you can see in my original post pic I'm using BBQ in almost all my builds but it's not consistent in showing survivor auras it's only helpful gaining more BP but what breaks me mentally when I usually hook everyone 2 times and then I down and hook 2 just 1 red rank saves everyone and they escape since the gates are open and everyone using DS and borrowed time and Unbreakable and they can crawl towards the exit gates it's overwhelming to play against 4 good players as a new killer :/

  • @TheSubstitute said:

Your MMR starts too high and there's too wide of an acceptable gap since there aren't enough killers.

As you're new and are probably tempted to get kills by any means possible you might be tempted to camp and use NOED. Don't.

The reason why I say this is because getting kills will increase your MMR which gets you harder games. Before you move on to harder games, you need to learn chasing, map awareness, keeping track of gens and when to drop chase. If you camp, tunnel, and use NOED you won't learn these skills as fast.

I'm not saying never do those things but, if you do those things as a new player they're effective enough that they'll put you up against survivors that you have no chance against since you skipped over learning game mechanics. It's a design flaw in my opinion. Learn the proper time and place to use them before you do. It's short term pain for long term gain.

You will get tbagged and mocked even when you're playing nice, especially as a new killer, but try to focus on the good games; not the dbags who just try to make people miserable.

Anyway, that's what helped me. Good luck and I hope that helps you out.

everything you said is very accurate and yes it is a flawed system just playing to win will screw you quickly it's terrible to play in a way that won't let you win since that's the goal just randomly chasing and patrolling is not effective at all and makes it easier for survivors to win and as a new player I need more blood points and shards and winning is the only practical way to speed it up

Don't worry. As a grade 1 killer, I've get your brown/silver grade survivors all the time and matches are over with 1 or 2 gens done. So it all averages out... Don't you know, according to BHVR, it's the average that matters 🤣

lol yep I'm dealing with your survivors and you're dealing with mine pretty balanced

NO, I understand. Completely. But it may cause your MMR to rise by getting kills because of it. Where not getting those kills would lower it and be a more accurate representation of where you should be.

Although, it's hard to know for sure with the ratio of survivors to killers, you may still get red ranks.

50% of times I used it they cleaned it quickly I had no value and barely used it like in 10 total matches or so , I rarely use it so it's not really the reason I'm getting kills I had to tunnel some times against high skill red ranks to get at least a kill sometimes because they will flash save and group in front of hooks or sabotage them and they will run behind someone injured to save them and tbag every second of it
