Oh yeah, because it is totally my fault is the survivor throws themselves at me to body lock because they have a free health state... I'm totally tunneling then.

Taking the hit isn't countering the perk... It's is literally giving them value out of it. You know what are the only two counters of OTR? Save the Best for Last and the Original Pain add-on.

But what can I say to someone who wants to get away with poor gameplay everytime?

If you actually paid attention to what I said, throwing themselves Infront to Bodyblock isn't tunnelling and should be punished. Which you do that by hitting them and downing them.

How exactly would you recommend an anti tunnel perk that actually is only for anti tunnelling? Wait you can't because you guys never come with actual alternatives.

Also don't bring up STBFL acting as if it's not a meta perk. And last time I checked Legion, Deathslinger, and any mobility killer doesn't struggle with OTR. That's why they're higher tier killers. They handle a lot of issues in game

So your method of denying OTR is to encourage tunneling and camping?

You're only going to be 1 second away from the unhook if you're camping or the unhooking survivor is extremely cocky.

Did I say to tunnel? No. My method is force them into deep wound so they have to mend and if you encounter them again then boom no OTR. It's like you guys want to deliberately twist my words just to argue

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3345943#Comment_3345943

As I see, you want a free health state every time you get off a hook. I'm pretty sure you are the entitled one who can't see how this changes the game rules.

I'm the entitled one when you're complaining about not being able to tunnel for free? That's rich. Unlike you, I know how to counter OTR so the problem lies with you

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3345941#Comment_3345941

That's okay, for a second I thought you was one of those people who strawman and twist stuff (alot of those on the forums which I assume is something you're getting on this post, frustrating right? Lol)

But I'm not one to try cause arguments, I'm actually very understanding of sides and even if I speak about changes for one side dont mean I dont think the other should get stuff too, I want better game health for all which is where alot only focus on them :)

Oh yes. I see all the time in YouTube comments, social media posts, here, in game, etc. I'm not as nice when I see someone actively trying to argue by putting words in my mouth

  • @MyelinXCVIII said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3345943#Comment_3345943

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you appear to be under the assumption that @GlamourousLeviathan is strictly talking about tunneling.

There are many instances where, as a killer, you may not be tunneling but still hit someone with OTR endurance because it lasts for over a minute. Now you could make the argument that said survivor has wasted time because they haven't done anything to progress the game since being unhooked, that's totally valid.

Truthfully, I don't have a problem with OTR as a killer- it's when I play survivor and notice someone doing absolutely nothing just so they can preserve their endurance that annoys me.

Well they themselves said they can at least wait out the BT so how can that not be about tunnelling? They also mentioned 80 seconds of safety when the easiest thing is to hit them 1 second after being unhooked and OTR is gone

  • If they're not trying to make people actively dc why would I care or judge them? Getting mad at people for having friends in a multiplayer online game is one of the most chronically online takes of all. I'm not saying you can't talk about the advantage they have, I'm saying getting mad at friends playing together and practically foaming at the mouth is problematic behavior

  • Most likely kids cosplaying as grownups. I'm saying grown people acting like children basically

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3344956#Comment_3344956

Yeah, but you are still hitting the survivor with no reward. It is the same thing as a free health state, or do you want to convince me that hitting a survivor twice from healthy to downed, and hitting them twice from injured to downed is different?

Are you saying you want a free down after someone was unhooked? It's weird how you guys will argue and not see the entitlement

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3344571#Comment_3344571

That's not a us vs them argument at all...

I simply stated casual nurse players are going to find it way harder which is true, and a nerf regardless will always impact players especially casual players.

The nurse nerf punishes you heavily on mistakes with your blinks, something casual nurses will do more often.

Actually read instead of just throwing terms out you hear but dont understand. I just explained why youd see more bad nurses like your OP talked about.

Yeah you were the wrong person I was taking to. Some other person was out here arguing that I wanted weak Nurses. Sorry about that

Entering? We're long past that point. In fact, I might argue that it has been that way since nearly the beginning. DBD has never been a great (or even decent) game at expressing (or demanding of) technical gaming skill. It's only becoming more of what it has always been.

Like wydyadoit said, the core of this game is power creep. Invested time (and $$) isn't rewarded as much with skill as with a loaded toolbox. A lot people may not want to hear that, but it's true.

They kinda have been making the game p2p recently. Notice how a lot of the killer meta perks are locked behind licensed dlc ever since Nemesis. They been putting strong perks behind a paywall

  • @thrawn3054 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3344734#Comment_3344734

I don't think they've ever done that. I can't fathom why they're always so cagey about everything.

Probably cause a lot of content was leaked early in advance

  • @wydyadoit said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3344507#Comment_3344507

i know you weren't making a point like that. i was just stating the extreme scenario as a point of contention.

something to ground the idea of "skilled" nurses. what is a truly skilled nurse? or for that matter what is a skilled player in dbd?

most of the game's core design is a power creep based on progression. so new players will always be weaker. unless you disagree that a player with zero perks has no disadvantage compared to a custom max tier 4 perk build with addons and offerings.

however, i understand your statement. i just find it amusing.

I think we are finally entering an era of dbd where the bulk of people's skill is locked behind strong perks and items/addons.

You're pretty defensive, wouldn't it have been easier to say something like..

"I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say"...? Have a nice day, stay salty.

You're the one who first put words in my mouth saying I wanted weak nurses. Perhaps you can fix your accusatory tone before judging me

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3344567#Comment_3344567

First, if you get hit a second later you're already using the basekit BT, so it is not the Off the Record. Second, getting hit after getting unhook normally mean that it was an unsafe rescue. Third, Off the Record gives you far too much time of endurance, so it is very likely that the killer won't even tunnel and eat through the Off the Record after going for another survivor. It is the same problem of old DS but with more usage time and less counterplay.

Do you not know how endurance works or OTR? Like I'm convinced you have no clue what you're talking about. If you hit the survivor one second after the unhook, OTR is gone and you are in deep wound. I'm now convinced a lot of you guys argue without knowing basic mechanics

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/364514/nurse

This issue is casual nurses needed the extra help, call it a crutch or whatever you want but of course after a nerf alot of nurses will get weaker, it is a nerf afterall.

I do hate the argument "they wasnt good if they needed x" as if that's the only indication of skill. From my POV nurses needed those to stand a chance against a team of survivors of my skill.

So yes it's TRUE there will be less good nurses, that's what nerfs do but all it did was harm casual players even more on the killer side and I feel we always forget about the casual killer and focus on casual survivors.

Nurse needed a slight change imo but I'm not casual so different opinions and what not

The second you tried to do an us v them argument for casual players, I already knew where this was headed.

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3343854#Comment_3343854

Yeah, but it is still a free health state. It is like you guys want to have 0 consequences for playing unsafely.

How can I play unsafely if I'm being unhooked and I get hit a second later? Do you even know what you're trying to argue anymore?

  • @MeanieDeeny said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3344274#Comment_3344274

Idk what this “you guys” and “arguments we” came up w are. Idc either way. I didn’t mind nurse before, and I don’t mind her now. She’s not my cup of tea, either way.

But..it’s hard to miss months of people complaining she’s too hard to face.. over and over, so it just seems misplaced to now have a post about her being too weak and not very good. Make up your minds. Weak nurse or tough nurse? Weak nurses IMO are likely someone doing a daily.

Since when did I every say anything about weak or strong nurses? All I wanted was her addons to be looked at. That's it. And that's exactly what I got so I never said a thing about weak nurses

  • @wydyadoit said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3344279#Comment_3344279

yeah, but then isn't it fair to say that base kit nurse is honestly the only true way to determine who's good with her? because at some point we all have to agree that perks, addons, and offerings are just crutches.

not that i disagree with you. i honestly have no opinion. it's always going to be the case that people relying on a build will struggle when it gets nerfed.

just a point that unless a player is good using default power without perks or offerings then are they not also using some form of crutch?

even survivors that start the trial with an item or offering and perks? these are in fact crutches too. just perhaps accepted versions.

it's the downside to a custom class system with progression being tied to power.

No that's not the point I'm making. I don't want people to not use addons. I'm just noticing that the really problematic ones have been nerfed and I'm seeing a result of that

  • @Bwsted said:

There's a real difference between double recharge or range and basekit Nurse. If you were used to spamming blinks with no real downside other than if you mess up you can just get repeat immediately, then you developed no sense of power management.

I'm still doing fine barring the deafening chase music. But I don't use addons in general. If you make yourself dependant on something, then it's gonna show when it gets taken away from you.

Agree with this wholeheartedly. That's why I'm using less exhaustion perks and only having OTR just in case. It helps me to learn how tough distance can be in chases and how to deal with it

  • @Wommel said:

My biggest issue with Nurse is the absurd loud chase music. I have a very hard time hearing where injured survivors are. Yeah I miss recharge as I am also not a good nurse and it helped but I never had such a hard time knowing where they went.

I wish they had an option to turn down chase music. It's really messes up subtle sounds that I need to focus on in phases

  • @wydyadoit said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/364514/nurse

idk 🤷🏻‍♂️ 3.8 ms means you gotta land 2 dash strikes. sometimes 3. it's honestly easier to just stay out of chases and go for gen grabs and the occasional locker or hook rescue pull. nurse is pretty crap when it comes to anything except surprise attacks right now. so i tend to kick gens and use my teleport as a movement tool. unless i'm goofing off for fun. then i chase and blink strike for the dumb daily challenges.

But good Nurses know how to play her even with the changes. If anything, the nerf revealed who was actually good at Nurse and who crutches on addons for wins

You do know most unhooked Survivors purposely body block the killer to tank the hit for the unhooker....I never tunneled off hook but have been blamed by said survivors all the time because I hit them when I was going for the unhooker.

That's a different issue from what I said.

  • @MeanieDeeny said:

A lot of people could just be doing a daily. But that's what everyone wanted right, weak Nurses? The forums went crazy about her being overpowered for months...so y'all got your wish.

Crazy cause that's the exact same argument for old DH. It's like you guys actively forget the arguments you came up with barely a few months ago

  • @birkineer said:

You know they actually tried removing the bloodlust mechanic once right? And it impacted nothing? At all? And no one cared after?

Also, smart survivors force you into a situation where the killer cant wait it out. Like using it at a pallet where the killer would need to lunge to down them, either tehy hit and the dh lands or they dont and the pallet goes down. Many killer powers are also unusable agaisnt dh, pretty much all of the really telegraphed ones. so, basically pig, wesker, oni, billy, demo, artist, nurse, maybe blight, huntress, hag, wraith, bubbers and sadako.

Ah, yes. "Just wait it out". Imagine if I said that about eruption. Its literally the same thing, you physically cant.

Ah yes the classic whataboutism for Eruption that you guys love to engage in. Yada yada. And many killer powers are unusable with current DH? Most of those killers you mention are played a lot in higher "MMR" and I'm very sure it's DH galore there so clearly they can handle DH. Just admit it, it doesn't matter what side you guys play. You want perks to be nerfed to oblivion to be completely useless. It's the Tinkerer and Pop syndrome all over again

  • @LordSturm said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3343077#Comment_3343077

even on highly mobile killers I think it still isn't very good lol, remember you not only have to be kicking generators, but the survivors have to be currently working on one you kicked at the moment you get a down for it to do anything

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3343854#Comment_3343854

if you're hitting someone a full minute after the unhook it's really debatable at that point if it even is tunneling, also your recommendation to counter the anti-tunnel perk is to tunnel harder and allow it to activate lmfao

God you guys refuse to think and it's annoying. I said hit them after they've been unhooked and put them in deep wound. Also if a killer wants to tunnel, they will so it's not like I'm suggesting anything out of the blue

  • @InsidiousSmartfaceLF said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3342636#Comment_3342636

DS is still used in tournaments as a backup anti-tunnel perk. OTR literally can't be countered because it provides 80 seconds of guaranteed extra health state (and unlike DS can be used twice.) It's quite obvious that the survivor meta hasn't received nearly the same treatment as the killer perk meta over the years as evidenced by what happened to Ruin, Pop, Thana, and now Eruption.

Let's not use tournaments as a source of information for DS. Hit the survivor off hook and OTR is gone. It's not hard to counter certain perks

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3343316#Comment_3343316

Oh yeah, and now they get a speed boost for free and now they are on a safe pallet. With Borrowed time at least you can wait the timer, but good luck waiting 80 seconds for Off the Record to disappear.

At this point, they might as well make Second Wind work instantly. At least it doesn't mute you and hide your auras as well.

Literally putting them in deep wound cancels endurance. It's like you guys want to tunnel for free and with 0 consequence

  • The second you said I usually defend the killer role, I already knew where the bias would be. It's honestly baffling how everyone collectively agreed solo was the weakest role in game but now that they finally got buffs that don't include swf, it's still a problem. Makes me wonder if people only enjoyed swf being weak just for ez wins

  • It's another common cycle honestly. Remember the Knight chapter ad everyone malded over Potential Energy and Hubris? I do. Remember Flashbang/Blastmine op pls nerf? I do. Remember the killer changes that were actually needed and people malded? I do. Remember the HuD update and people were salty over the first version (second one was too much info)? I do.

It certainly doesn't help that content creators like to fan the flames then get surprised people take it too far.

Basically what I'm saying is nothing new at all. Same boring tasteless argumenta that people love to spew out just to feel important. Yada yada blah blah blah. I'm honestly waiting for some pressed killer main or chronically online survivor main to say something

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

Considering this as an irony, I like how people often mention CoH, DH and Windows as busted while ignoring the elephant in the room called Off the Record. That perk is the single most busted perk to be ever be created by BHVR other than original Mettle of Man and even that is debatable.

Hit the survivor after they've been unhooked. Congratulations, you've managed to counter the perk. You guys seem to forget killers ca attack survivors

Nah I’m really not. 😂 I’ll just use bump logic exclusively and still stomp teams. It would literally change nothing but make my gameplay more simple and lethal. The fact you think that lets me know you’re part of the vast majority of players that have no clue how blight works or even the slightest clue how to go against him.

Again.. I have no issues with DH. It’s the difference of being patient and waiting an extra second, or just baiting and using another rush. Ez.

I've seen some Blights try to use the hug tech and a lot of them don't really know how to tech right. The few times I do get hit is mostly me refusing to drop a pallet

  • @HugTechLover said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3341897#Comment_3341897

It’s not debatable at all lmao. Old dead hard gave guaranteed value. Not gonna make it to that window or pallet? DH for distance and boom, you’re safe.

Dh is really not that hard to counter now. I’ve seen some of the videos people post in the forums about “DH IS SOOOO BROKEN!!!” and it’s them falling for the same old “I’m gonna run directly into the killer and DH” trick over and over.

Counter in the open - simply wait it out.

Counter at windows - let them dab into the window, or wait for the vaulting animation to start, hit.

Counter at pallets - anticipate them to DH through the pallet if you know they have it. Stop swinging thinking you HAVE to. The amount of downs I get on letting them DH through a pallet then downing them before they can drop is absurd. It does not work if you know the timing.

Something that’s virtually uncounterable is somebody who can properly 99 a sprint burst.

Everytime I'm around, you are always the most reasonable person

One is them is given as basekit, DS is still decent (and they provided an even better version of DS, off the record) , DH is still the most used perk. Killer meta perks nerfed to the point you don't see them anymore.

DS is irrelevant and OTR is super easy to counter.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

Throw at me some unpopular opinions you may have. And really make sure they are unpopular since half the time people comment on these type of threads they rarely even both to check if their opinion is actually unpopular or not.

    Here are some of mine:

    • End-Game Collapse should start when the last Generator is completed, not when the Exit Gates are opened. Extra time can be added to EGC to compensate for the Exit Gate opening. Exit Gates should never regress in progress though, that is just overall a horrible idea. Basekit BT should not exist during EGC, and BT or No One Left Behind should be required to get Unhook Endurance during the EGC.
    • A lot of the community's "bad perks" arent even bad, even if they are niche or situational they still provide a decent enough benefit to use regardless of their strength.
    • Tunneling and camping are fine when it comes to gameplay, the only issue I have with them is that they can handicap a player's progress at improving at the game since they start to heavily rely on them. People can play however the want regardless of such, and my opinions on such should have no merits upon other's gameplay.
    • The community is not as toxic as people make it out to be, yes there are going to be bad apples within the bunch, and just because a few are really rotten does not ruin the rest in this instance. Like some of DBD's community has really, really toxic individuals, but most are few and far between, and I typically have more positive and great experiences with players than I do negative.
    • Most DBD content creators are boring and rely on the same type of content over and over, and most contribute to what community discourse exists. Since "salty content" is fueled by negativity bias and "us vs them" narratives.
    • The game is not sided towards any particular side; yes there are problematic things in the game, but they exist for Survivors and Killers. Most people who complain about "DBD is ___ sided" are just whinging and dont consider the fact that BHVR is trying to improve the game for everyone as a whole.
    • And while we are at it, BHVR themselves is not some evil corporation like people make them out to be, BHVR is not actively trying to ruin people's fun with changes, since realistically driving players away would not be good for profits to begin with, BHVR is trying to improve the game based on their own vision, remember that.

Ooooh I cannot wait to get into this one. Where should I start? I know...

"An overwhelming amount of content creators for this game are problematic for the game's health. Look at content from salt farm videos, to camping Bubba videos in every basement, high mmr blah blah nonsense, etc... You start to see a pattern with how negative their tones leak into gameplay choices."

"Sloppy Butcher as a perk shouldn't have gotten the buff it did with healing regression (how fast the healing regresses) since it makes niche perks like Resurgence, Solidarity, etc. And those perks are already weak in practice "

"Boon perks are hard to really argue because putting a token or limit on boons nerfs 3 others and makes them even less valuable just to counter 1."

"Endgame perks are very poorly designed. No one will be able to convince me that perks like Rancor, Terminus, Hope are actually fair and balanced ".

"Bubba camping strat should've been nerfed a long time ago before nerfing killers like Deathslinger ".

And this one is my hottest take. The perk nerfs update should've never happened if we really wanted healthy playstyles. Notice how defending gens wasn't actually that big a thing to patrol cause Ruin/Undying existed and Prove wasn't even an issue cause it wasn't used nearly as much. If we wanted to actually reduce the perk strength, DH and DS needed the nerf (not the 3 second stun) as well as Pain Res and DMS.

    This.

So many games lost wasting time putting up boons for survivors to sneak to the end of the map to get killed mid heal.

Shadow step shouldn't make as much noise as it just begs to be snuffed.

I'm so annoyed that boons exist as survivor. A few years ago I was all like, if killers can have hexes, why can't survivors use them. Had I known this would've been the problem, I never would've made a mental suggestion

  • Posts like this never cease to amaze me. And it's usually always someone on the killer role who uses this argument a lot in m experiences. Im pretty sure some of your posts are about to be edited or removed lets not be combative or insulting to each other. The nurse thing you brought up... yea I main it not sure what that has anything to do with DH. Lets not focus on the character I play in game rather the perk DH ok? If anything DHing a nurse is easier than every other killer... And she was just massively nerfed as well.

But thats neither here nor there lets focus on DH alright?

Im not asking for old DH at all the massive lunge or, "dash" as they worded, it had was too much. Just keep its base lunge it has currently and then work from there if needed. Either remove its endurance effect, or make it so you cant use pallets windows after using it for X seconds. Or cannot use DH when you are within X meters of pallets/windows.

    Something along those lines.

Currently survivors are just TOO safe when they are near windows or pallets that they should not beable to deadhard into and laugh. We all can agree on that one.

DH near windows is the easiest thing to counter. Pallets is debatable but definitely not a window. You mentioned removing the endurance but what would be the point of the perk having no distance if you have no endurance using it? It feels like you guys are trying to actively kill perks simply because you can't counter them.

Also you main Nurse and have complaints over DH? It's like the responses are jus a skill issue comment cause how do you main the strongest killer and still complain about DH?

I am going to give a vague description or scenario involving a perk, and Ill leave it for the community to decide what perk it is. Tomorrow, I will gather the results and make a follow-up thread to discuss everything.

    Are you ready? Let's begin.

    Guess This Perk:

    • Can be waited out, but has niche scenarios where you can do other things.
    • Can extend the game by 20 seconds or more depending on the situation.
    • Requires both sides to play around this perk existing once it is known about.

Best of luck to the community!

    Merciless Storm?

  • I think the only thing I remember doing recently was somehow being able to counter a Nurse on Midwich with full aura reading perks. Everytime something went off and saw here, I kept p*ssing off and leaving the area almost immediately. I basically kept noping and leaving so many times

    Obviously, dont be purposefully obtuse.

Im just saying my ideal DBD world you should not have a third health state, and if you do then you need to balance the game for having access to it. Currently survivors complain about camping/tunneling and eruption/cob aka kicking gens (kinda funny that one huh?). But nah dead hard is fair.

Too much power is provided with it. Which is why most survivors run it. Its laughable what you can do to extend mistakes you make or even just extend already too long chases with safe T/L walls or pallet gyms.

Just something needs to happen with it. Make it a lunge only but not an endurance effect. Or make it so you cant interact with objects within X meters.

Give us a reason to chase anyone for an extended duration. Currently there is no reason to bother. Ill just wait for you guys to come to me.

And with your suggested changes, you basically are asking for old Dead Hard which is weird because y'all complained about it until it got nerfed. Now you want it back?

Also really too much power that gets rid of a mistake when most of the time you can literally wait it out? But if we want to talk about mistake removing, let's bring up the bloodlust mechanic and how easy it is to bloodlust around tiles.

Let's not sit here and whine about how perks remove mistakes acting as if a majority of the meta perks and perks in general are intended to remedy a misplay.

And since we're bringing up irrelevant talking points in the argument, I find it fitting a person with a Nurse PFP is complaining about DH. It's almost as ironic as a person with a Feng PFP saying killers need to be nerfed

I've met a lot of good people on DBD but it seems that I also find a lot of horrible people too

Same with me but the salt seems to outweigh the sweet

And just like that in typical complaining fashion, you've added nothing important other than salt and pettiness. A lot of things shouldn't exist in this game and since we want to bring up CoB Eruption, you guys started bringing up DH as a whataboutism for Eruption. Let's not.

All you did was reinforce my point about saying nothing new and parroting salt and entitlement.

Respectfull don't be obtuse acting like you actually have something valid to say.

It's also funny how they want to tell us how salty and toxic one side is but they are salty and toxic all the time. There is nothing wrong to tryhard against toxic survivors/killers so they don't get their way but I often have the feeling they themselves are not even a bit better when it comes toxicity.

Its either that or they provoke reactions out of people for content the have the audacity to act surprised
