  • They are aware:

    https://x.com/DeadbyDaylight/status/1797666721387700478

"We are aware of an issue affecting DLC purchases on Xbox and Microsoft Store. The problem is currently under investigation and we will update you here once we have more information to share."

  • Longer games usually mean that the Killer will win. We had this with the Eruption-Meta, just drag out a game to 20 minutes and you basically win by default, because ressources are used up.

Longer games can only be possible if we have a longer objective for BOTH sides. Currently longer games just mean that Survivors will lose, therefore only one side will benefit. (And people saying they can chill more… well, obviously you can play more chill if no pallets are left and you get the downs basically free)

Not that I am in favor of games of under 5 minutes, but it is just the case that the longer the game goes, the stronger the Killer gets. This is basically the rule on top of the rules that Killers need short chases and Survivors need fast Gens.

  • At least on the PTB it was just a visual bug, I would assume it is the same on Live. The Perk appears to be active, but you will not get a Skill Check if you have done a conspicious action.

  • I will tell you how it goes - Forums will now panic for 3 days until they realize that it does not impact matches at all.

Then we will see the odd thread of a Killer who just lost a game or did not get a (a = 1) Kill due to a Sabotage. And thats about it.

  • IMO yes. Given how much distance he can cover and how quick he is, a Wesker with 32m Terror Radius and possibly M&A is scary.

That being said, I think that BIlly also warrants a 40m Terror Radius. A Hillbilly in Overdrive is basically on you when you hear his Terror Radius, even tho you have more feedback since you have the Chainsaw Sound.

I also think that Pig can easily get back her 28m Terror Radius, which would also make her better to use (e.g. I run Whispers and M&A on her and I would gladly take another Perk instead of M&A). In the end, streamlining the Terror Radius so that it is consistent is not the case anymore (Wesker has 40m, Slinger has 32m…just as examples)

  • Try if forcing the game to use DX11 instead of DX12 helps.

I think my biggest concern is they are introducing a new perk that boosts repair speed (which is pretty decent) while also buffing another perk (not that Invocation: Weaving Spiders didn't desperately need it), but the counterpart only saw nerfs. That almost never ends well for balance

Dont worry, the new Perk is not good. And obviously Weaving Spiders needed a Buff, you cannot really have the opinion that the Perk was in a good spot. It will still be super-bad anyway and can never be in a good or healthy spot, since it is either too weak or too strong.

  • If you did not cheat, you will not be banned. Dont worry.

  • I dont really think that Distortion needs any changes. I dont like the Perk, but I also dont have a problem with it on either side. And in the end, with the tunneling and camping which is going on right now, it is understandable that players want to stay hidden as much as possible, because if you get found first, you might be out of the game rather quickly.

Sure, there are players who are way too stealthy, but this is more a player-thing and not a problem of the Perk. Because lets face it - those players would stay stealthy even if Distortion is nerfed or reworked. They would just spend more time in a locker and probably be even less efficient. So Survivors complaining about other Survivors using Distortion should think twice if changing the Perk would make it any better.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it 40 meters in any direction, meaning you have a radar that covers about roughly 160 meters worth of area if you use it in the middle of the map?

How is that not completely insane in a 3-4 man SWF?

Because one person is idle in the middle of the map. And what information does a 4 man SWF then become which is not already available? If one is chased by the Killer the position of the Killer is already known.

Seeing as how every time we've had an underage licensed survivor they've been aged up to be legal, idk why you are absolutely certain that she can't be in the game

This happened once so far. And well, I said, it is possible if the license holders would agree. But if not, it is entirely impossible.

(And tbh, I think someone from the TV Series will fit better)

  • There have been several reports for quite a long time that the game is unstable. But I dont really care, if it makes you more happy that you encountered a cheater, you can believe this.

I mean old object was rarely used from the dev blog a long time ago. But it still was changed just for the fact it didn't promote good gameplay. But the range is considerably shorter. And you can't do it while also doing other stuff. So that's why i wanted a general perception.

    https://youtu.be/jD2Dk3kPD3s?si=3XIuhXDyjrUCG5NS

The general perception in this forum is, once again, that there is some OP Perk or anything. And yet, it will be wrong. Again. But for some reason, this has to be done every Chapter.

The Perk is not good. Really. Having once Survivor idle for information is not worth it. Object was far stronger than this, simply because the Survivor using it could also progress the game AND Killers are stronger now compared to the time Object was at full power.

It is just another overreaction to another garbage Perk.

  • Yeah, cant wait to see this Perk never again after people made their Adept.

Couldn't bhvr just make a blanked statement in the start screen saying "all characters portrait are atlest 18 years old" and thats it? I mean they woulndt even need to change the character. A 16 year old and an 18 year old look just the same.

When i started to play i was under the impression feng is still a teen.

But to be honest i dont get why people even make such a fuzz about kids being hurt or killed in games

They could do this, but people would know that Clem is not 18. And BHVR has said in the past that all Characters in DBD will be Adult Characters. And since Clementine never was Adult in the Telltale Games, she would need to be aged up and that is depending on the license owner. So it would basically be a BHVR-version of a licensed character (same like Yoichi).

And well, BHVR is serious with this "only Adults" in DBD. They also were heavily against calling Victor a "Baby", which some people did when Twins first came out.

  • @Smoe said:

Which is why they can just age her up and let her be taken into the game 2 years after the final season, similar to how Yoichi and Cheryl was aged up from their last appearance in their source material.

They cannot "just age her up". This would only work if the license holder is fine with that. If they are, sure, possible. If they are not, 100% impossible to bring her into the game.

  • @Smoe said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3730210#Comment_3730210

She's 16 by the time of the final season, which is where OP's picture is from.

Yeah, if she is 16, then she will not be in the game.

This would be an option, but this depends on the license holder.

  • Isnt she a minor for the entirety of the series? I only really know about Season 1 and part of Season 2 of the Telltale Games.

I have seen legit server crashes, where anyone actually had 0 BP on the scoreboard. This was not one of those. Anyone but me had 30+ bp. i had 0.

And this is exactly what happens when the Server crashes. You probably also got the "Dedicated Server not responding"-Message. Everyone got disconnected, everyone got 0 points, but it looks like all the others got points.

  • The Server crashed. Nobody got points, even if it looks like everyone but yourself got points.

Cool, but i wont get stuck as a prestige 1 killer with 25 hours against a survivor team with 340 prestige in total. If thats the price to pay, so be it.

I think you did not understand what JPLongstreet meant.

Because someone else decided to dodge the Lobby, you got into this situation in the first place. You would not need to dodge Lobbies in which you dont belong into if others, who would belong into those Lobbies, would not dodge them before you.

  • Since they introduced the Rift and Rift Pass, they were always open about Cosmetics in it returning to the Store after at least 6 months. So players should have always known that this will happen.

Furthermore, if you got the Cosmetics via the Rift Pass, you

    a) got them earlier and had them exclusive for at least 6 months and

    b) got them WAY cheaper than others who buy them

So I dont really see anything to complain about here.

Ah fair enough, I haven't played on the new macmillan maps that often yet, but the matches I did have, they all seemed pretty balanced.

Personally I really do like what they did with the Coldwin maps, though I can acknowledge that with bad rng they can sometimes spawn some nasty deadzones, except for Fractured Cowshed as far as I experienced. However in general I really think the maps are well balanced. I am just not a fan of Torment Creek, as I said, it's very big, but spawns too many deadzones.

Not saying that Coldwind-Maps are killer-sided (aside from Abattoir, this one is 100% killer-sided). But I just think that if Survivors burn a Coldwind-Offering, they get less advantage than they think they would get AND they might end up on Abattoir, which would even be a disadvantage.

  • I think you are in the minority when you say that you will miss old Borgo.

  • There is a difference between "not fun" and "too strong". Skull Merchant is strong, but not too strong. Yet she is really unfun to go against.

Part of it is most likely due to her reputation, she will never lose this. But even reworked Skull Merchant is really not enjoyable to play against, regardless of her strength.

  • There is not really a reason to do that. In the end, it is an action like everything else in the game. Like, why should people doing Invocations not scream when I scream when doing a Gen, despite me being more productive?

And where should it stop? Also no Aura Read in case of BBQ or for the once in a blue moon Territorial Imperative?

After all, it would make the Perk not really better to avoid screaming, it is still a terrible Perk. But I dont think that it should have exceptions just because the Survivor can be unlucky and be found while doing the Invocation.

  • Good list. I would not say that Coldwind is entirely killer-sided (aside from Rancid Abattoir), but I think Survivors burning Coldwind-Offerings dont really do themselves a favor.

I would personally bump all second versions of the MacMillan-Maps up a bit. They are all weaker for Survivor than their originals, with often enough featuring very small distances between Gens.

this change is like the billy change where they nerf doom engravings. total clueless.

With the exception that Engravings actually saw use. And that they only nerfed the Add Ons because they buffed his Basekit (which did not happen to Billy back then).

  • I can absolutely confirm what @The_Krapper said, people were VERY rude towards the Devs and very insulting. Even in topics which were not even about balancing. Some Devs were here quite frequently, answering to all kind of topics and I can totally understand that they dont want to use the forum if they answer to some lighthearted fun Thread and someone quotes them, insulting them for something they did.

This has nothing to do with worshipping Devs or anything. But there is a huge difference between telling a Dev in a respectul way that some things they implemented are not really well thought-out and just outright insulting or mocking them without being constructive at all. And the latter happened far too often.

Meh, idk, he just feels week sometimes, especially on open maps when surv can just old w and you cant do anything about it exept giving them speed boost to do it again

I played Nemesis for hundreds of hours when he released, he is certainly not weak. What he needs is an Add On-Rework, because most of his Add Ons are just bad. I play the same Add Ons since release (Marvins Blood and T-Virus Sample) since Release. Simply because while there are some Add Ons worth running, they dont really appeal to me and others are just outright bad.

And I usually play to get him to Mutation Rate 2 or even 3 as fast as possible, because once you can break Pallets with him, he becomes way better.

  • @ChaosWam said:

I'd gladly have flashlight addons have a small blind timer increase in exchange for chain-blinds to be removed.

Not particularly because of it being useful or anything, but being double blinded can get visually annoying.

So you would buff Flashlight Add Ons, because some players are not able to look up or down when getting blinded?

And I thought people want to balance for the Top…

  • Who even rans both of those Add Ons? In the end, part of the Add Ons was made Basekit and the Add Ons itself were nerfed. This is normal practice for minor Killer Buffs.

I guess BHVR has data which Add Ons were used and I would also guess that using both Add Ons did not happen at all, so it is not really relevant that they are weaker than before when using both. IMO players will take the Basekit-Buffs and use those Add Ons simply less than before (and certainly not both, which I have never seen at all).

  • Yeah, never understood why they felt the need to nerf the Perk. Silently cleansing or opening chests is not that strong anyway. All it did was to remove Calm Spirit from a few Loadouts and if someone runs Calm Spirit, they are even less inclined to do Chests or Totems.

If they REALLY, REALLY want to keep the penalty (they should remove it, without question), they could just make it only work in the Killers Terror Radius. So basically when the Survivor is in the Killers Terror Radius, they are only then silent and then they also search/cleanse slower (because they need to be careful, since the Killer is nearby). But if outside of the Terror Radius, the Survivor makes noise and searches/cleanses at normal Speed. This would also give Stealth-Killers a neat little advantage.

But overall, they should just remove the penalty.

I agree this consultant program doesn’t really benefit anyone. Also I hate to sound really negative and rude, but I think it’s a waste of money and resources. I mean I’m sorry I just really don’t agree with some of chosen consultants cause I feel like some of them had made questionable choices and decisions. But I will also say that they are trying to fix that issue. And add more experience players to also help out. Also sorry for contradicting myself but I do hope that they will straighten things out.

The Program IS good. And it benefits the Devs and also the players. Because there are some solid people in the program (from what we know).

What might be problematic is making it public, since it might draw negative attention to people who are in it. Sure, everyone can decide for themselves if they want to be open about it, but I have already seen some communities from Streamers questioning why some people are in the program and why their favorite streamer is not in the program.

  • Because he can hit you over Pallets and Windows pretty reliable. And removing the Infection is VERY limited. Of course, if someone played Nemesis with STBFL and only used the Tentacle on the Obsession, they would think his ability is weak…

IMO they should remove the Speedboost from infections done via Zombies. But thats about it.

  • Genrushing is focussing just on Gens and nothing else. Up to the point of letting others die on Hook to complete Gens as fast as possible.

Genrushing is not "I play Killer and think the Gens are too fast :(".

  • @Peanits said:

Hey folks, I see a lot of questions and confusion so I'm going to do my best to clear up as many as I can.

    About the program itself:

    • This program is not new, it has existed since shortly after the game's release. Previously consultants were not able to confirm they were part of the group without breaching their NDA. We have recently restructured the program and allowed members to say that they are members.
    • Consultants are asked for opinions on upcoming changes and invited to closed playtests where they can give feedback.
    • While the program itself is now public info, the details of what they are playtesting and/or giving feedback on are not. Please do not ask them what's going on in there, they cannot tell you.
    • There is no public list of all consultants, nor do we plan to share one. We leave it up to each person to decide if they are comfortable disclosing it as it could attract unwanted attention and/or scrutiny.

    About consultants and requirements:

    • Consultants do not need to be content creators. While some are, others are not.
    • There is no application process. We select and invite people who would be a good fit for the program and fill the needs we have in terms of experience with specific aspects of the game.
    • Being selected as a consultant is not simply a reward for being a die-hard fan. Consultants are contractors who are paid and have certain responsibilities.
    • Consultants have varying experience (e.g. Killers they've mastered), preferences, playstyles, and skill levels.

About the consultants role & responsibilities:

    • Consultants must participate in closed playtests. Inactive consultants would be removed from the program and replaced with someone who is able to participate.
    • It is a consultant's duty to give feedback on upcoming changes that are presented to them.
    • Consultant feedback is used to help make informed decisions, but it is not the sole deciding factor. We need to keep in mind that consultants are highly experienced players and that their impressions may not always align with the wider community (though they often do).
    • Consultants do not come up with balance changes and are not responsible for how things turn out. It falls on us to decide what needs to be acted upon. (Please do not harass consultants if there is a change you do not like.)
    • Consultants are not QA - it is not their responsibility to test the game and find bugs.

Qualities we look for in consultants (among other traits):

    • Trustworthy, as they are given information early
    • A wide range of experience within the game (and ideally experts in certain areas)
    • Able to provide constructive feedback
    • Able to maintain a civil discussion with people who have differing opinions
    • Able to set aside biases when giving feedback or acknowledge that their biases may be influencing their opinions

Most importantly, none of this means that your feedback doesn't matter. This program helps us gather feedback for changes early on in development and make adjustments before they are revealed. Once they hit the PTB, feedback from the wider community is just as important.

    Thank you for the information.

One question, more on the technical side - do Consultants have access to a Beta-Version of DBD (aka in Steam another DBD-game where changes are tested) or do they have to access a Beta via the existing DBD-game in Steam (like regular players do when they access the PTB).

  • @SleepyLunatic said:

Both sides have dc penaltys and both sides should absolutly have it.

ofc not for the reason op just mentioned.

The difference is that Killers get disconnected if they are AFK since some Killers used this to farm Iri Shards and Rift Fragments, since the Killer is in the game for the whole Trial.

For Survivors such a AFK-penalty did not exist, because a Survivor being AFK is usually resolved by them being found due to the idle crows and then sacrificed.

  • @Nazzzak said:

I do wish the consultants had told them to dump the Finisher Mori though 🫣

I mean, the FInisher Mori is complete Nonsense and should have been scrapped and never been brought up ever again.

But in the end, the final decision is done by the Devs. It could be possible that the majority of Consultants was against it. Or that they might not even have been asked about their opinion. Nobody knows. But in the end, it is on the Devs to implement a feature basically nobody wants.

  • @The_Krapper said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3727981#Comment_3727981

I personally think they stopped truly reading years ago, the actual developers use to communicate a lot more on here, but you know this community just loves to ruin a good thing and people started responding to comments the devs made with insults and a little over the line criticism in my opinion, slowly but surely they've stopped all together and we only really see Mandy and Rizzo on here now to tame the crowd when they get too wild and not people who are actively designing and coding this game giving us what insight they were allowed like before.

100% agree on that. And I also think that this is the right call from the Devs. There was a time where they got ######### on in the Forums, even in topics which were not really about any changes, someone decided to quote that Dev (because they saw that one of them was posting there) and spam them with some unrelated Nonsense.

So obviously they stop communicating when the Community shows that a normal conversation is not possible.

  • Hens has put up a video with a bit of explanation:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVkQwAk8B-A

Basically, their input can be pretty limited and it might not be early enough to make it to live. And the last decision is always made by the Devs, so even if a Person is Consultant, this does not mean that they are responsible for nerfing your favorite Killer or that they were the oenes who thought that the PTB-Twins are a great Concept.

Also, it is up to the Consultant to make it public or not. So while we see a lot of Content Creators in it, we can be sure that there are others who are in the program who might not even be Content Creators, but just choose to not make public that they are part of it.

  • They should add Infinite Tiers after the Rift. Just a few BPs and Iri Shards each level.

  • Offerings from Survivors are usually weaker than those from Killers. This is simply because you have to account that 4 Survivors can bring the same Offering. You can see it here:

    https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Offerings#Hook_Distance

This will bring you to the Hook Offerings. The Survivor one is only 1 meter, while the Killer one (yellow) is already 1,5m and purple 3,5m.

In general, even if 4 Survivors bring the Petrified Oak and the Killer does not bring any Oak, the effect will not really be that big. In the end, this has to be the case, because hooking is a central aspect of the game.

I kinda misread the tweet then. Yeah it seems like Hens said he has been part for quite some time.

Though.. where is the official publication message? Apparently that was two days ago?

It is the weekend, after all. In the end, I guess they received the charm and were allowed to make it public at this point (since people would ask how you can obtain the charm anyway).

In the end, nobody knows what they actually get to test. Might be possible that they were not involved in some of the more unhealthy stuff for the game.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Could be a good thing. I think it's encouraging that someone like Hens who actually plays and understands the game at a high level is part of the program. Would love to see Dir3wolf (head of DbDLeague) get an invite. If it prevents DOA perks and powers from being released, then it will ultimately be a positive. I think it's BHVR acknowledging that they have an experience gap that they needed to get some eyes on. Certain things get released that are obviously broken to an experienced player right from the jump, like Skull Merchant, original CoH, FTP+Buckle Up, the Twins rework (PTB, but still), etc. This could help prevent those instances.

Apparently the program is online for quite some time. One person from it said they are part of it for years. So there are things in the game which were created even if such a program exists. And IMO this just shows that not everything will be developed with the help of the Consultants. Because I cannot imagine that things like Skull Merchant or the Twins Rework made it to live/the PTB without basically every Consultant saying "yeah, this is wrong".

  • This program is not new, it is apparently in use for years. It features people hand-picked by BHVR and not all of them are Content Creators, even tho I would say that being content creator will probably be a plus, simply because it makes BHVR aware of your existence. (You can have the best ideas for DBD, but if you are not a Content Creator or not very active on Social Media/The Forums, BHVR will simply not notice you)

I think the program is VERY good. Some people in there are people I would have wished on this form of program long ago (e.g. Scorpionz and OhTofu). However, making it public is not the right thing IMO. Because it will lead to things like "Why is person X part of it, but not person Y?" or "Why is my favorite Content Creator not part of it?". I have already seen some negative content from some communities of pretty biased players. So yeah…

But in general it is a good thing that this exists.

  • Still win against them at least 52% of the time.
