  • Due to the ruin nerf I went from rank 1 killer to rank 15 in one day ):

  • Even kindred would be a solid counter. Looking out for the docs hand raise animation as he sets off from the hook.

  • People say run calm spirit but I suggest you run quick and quiet to quickly get into a locker after the doc has just hooked someone and is looking for the next person. You'll avoid his blast and he'll assume no-one is near.

I'd rather have someone like Eminem rap about what he feels or controversial topics then most of the mindless top 40 stuff on the radio nowadays. Or the endless supply of country songs that have no substance.

    Everyone has their own tastes.

  • Happens all the time. Is really annoying. Plz nerf the games forgetfulness.

New Killer should be R Kelly.

Yeah Predator would be a great killer for dbd.

  • On Xbox. Played about 25 matches. Got Lerys once and the hillbilly DC. I have played once as GhostFace on Lerys and I kept scaring a Dwight. That's about it.

I've had rancid abbatoir and a mix of the corn maps literally 70% of the time.

Except killer items don't exist and all of the killer ones are highly unbalanced.

Wow you're bad at lying. I literally just bumped into a demogorgan carrying a chain.

  • Self care survivors are better than any killer slow down perk as killer.

Yes it's true, I caught a Dwight tryna steal my toolbox. They have to be reminded.

Oh so it was just a Dwight and not the Devs removing the basement chest.

  • The chest? They're not surely 😱

  • I feel like a true bubba main just wants to stay in the basement and be left alone.

I mean I feel like that's the great part of living in the united states , you can say what you want . it may not be right but you can.

It's just the mentality people have that bothers me. The 'I am entitled to say it be because I have free speech'. They end up saying something out of order and wonder why all these extremely political correctness people exist.

  • This...this isn't a toolbox, this is my lunch. I always pack lunch when I go out camping.

  • Tome 2 so far seems extremely uninspired.

I had 2 killers playing with rancor and I thought Hmmm must be a challenge. I went to look and most challenges are based around emblems and doing something extremely simple a set amount of times.

Rancor your obsession 3 times would have been a really good challenge.

Instead the most elaborate killer challenge is to kick a gen 5 times with overcharge equipped.

    DBD FOREVER! :D

What does that even mean? That you'll support dbd for the whole of eternity. You can worship dbd but in order to get the most out of it they need a wake up call to win people back and stop disgruntled players from playing something else.

  • @samination said:

Sorry, I know we can't have any positive comments in here. My bad!!

I'm pretty sure I've seen you on these forums complaining about something or agreeing with others about how something was annoying to them.

For you to say that positive comments aren't welcome in this thread is not only irrelevant but it undermines the very fact that for all the frustration the playerbase has been through, the patience is running thin.

Any comments are welcome as long as they are relevant to the main point of the thread.

  • Normally when I'm criticising him or rap I face a lot of childish backlash. Who would have thought dbd forums would be the most civil about it.

I respect your opinion but I should mention he does donate millions to all kinds of charities

I mean his charitable donations are a nice gesture but it seems like once he donates then that's his free pass to say whatever he wants however wrong it is to do so. People say he has freedom of speech therefore he doesn't need to be a respectful human being.

It's a rap entitlement problem to be fair to him. I just find it bewildering how all sorts of slurs are staple to rap music.

He definitely isn't attention seeking. He has such a large fan base that he hasn't needed to do anything controversial past 2002 for people to listen to him. He just enjoys making people mad.

I disagree and he definitely wouldn't fit dbd as a killer or survivor. Maybe a fearless survivor but not really him.

  • Nothing is real about him. As you can tell I'm not a fan of him. However he does have some good music, it's just the need for him to be extremely disrespectful all the time which annoys me, he comes across as extremely ignorant.

I'll rather not explain why exactly but I share a lot of criticism with most rappers who embed their music with slurs and mockery of tragedy and whatever.

    Dbd forever!

Shoo shoo get outta here shoo. I'm pretty sure you're just messing around but to those who actually have that thought I will have a mini rant.

In terms of dbd forever. Dbd won't last forever everything dies just look at games you were playing say...7 years ago. The vast majority of not all of them you don't play anymore. Dbd can be around for a long time but not in the state it's in now.

Just the thought of drinking an energy drink while a killer is chasing you is amusing to me lol

Exactly the game is supposed to be fun. A counter to the energy drink is the lasso item which lets you reel survivors towards you to get a hit.

  • I'm not a fan of Eminem. I see him as someone desperate for attention to keep relevent hence why he's always rapping about controversial stuff. He would promote toxicity which is a step backwards.

  • I thought you meant it as if once it's broken it causes the ruin effect from that point to the end. As in it would be similar to HG as it's a decoy hex which protects devour, third seal, TOTH and Huntress Lullaby longer.

I agree with your point but I also think I just came up with an alternative which would probably be better than current ruin.

  • @ZoneDymo If you're only getting the useful stuff in the bloodweb then you're probably playing too seriously. New items would be fun. The same old uninteresting stuff you avoid are ignored by pretty much everyone which is why I suggested some in the first place.

  • @Clockso said:

gun: a fricking gun that kills the killer, however you must succeed a tremendously difficult skill check

Seems a little overpowered. How about Hex:Gun - A placeable survivor totem which enables you to activate a tremendously/moderately/slightly difficult skill check to no scope the killer from across the map thus blasting them to another realm.

*Known bug - Causes 2 killers to appear in some matches.

  • Another idea I had was

When a survivor activates the lockpicking sequence the killer is notified that the hatch is being broken into. The killer gets a audio queue (no aura/visual indication of where the hatch is). Imagine the inception fog horn for example.

The killer then has 30 seconds to find the hatch to push the survivor away from it thus wasting the one survivors time.

30 seconds is a assumption that a lockpick minigame would take around 30+ seconds to open.

Add ons could delay the killers audio queue by half or whatever depending on rarity.

  • I forgot to mention that when you fail a lockpick minigame you get trash talked by a bad voice actor of a generic medieval guy.

  • I wonder how players with hearing and sight problems find the hatch because I have trouble doing that and there's nothing wrong with mine

  • But...I only collect Moris...is it time to start using them???

  • I mean DC's are still here and frequent. When are they punishing players for DCing because on average every match I've played since the update there's been at least 1 DC per game on average. This ranging from all my teammates DCing to the one of match where everyone stays.

A lot of the time it's being caught or "tunneled" but some of the time it's just to prevent BBQ stacks or something dumb. Where are the husks that disconnectors leave behind.

Tell that to my teammates who have been leaving me in matches and getting destroyed because it's then me Vs the killer.

  • As a rank 9 survivor I'm being matched with red ranks survivors most matches always vs killers between rank 12-20. I feel sorry for new/low rank killers.

The only positive for the killers are that a lot of red rank survivors are really bad.

But there are games out there and each one so far was going to kill DBD. The two upcoming games which stand out the Predator game which looks ok and Resident evil on the horizon which doesn't look that great.

Match making will be fixed that's the point. They are working on it now and it was the changes to dedicated servers and the swf match making that were the main culprits for these issues as they all stemmed from those being implemented. The swf change was for the killers as it was to eleviate them being matched with high ranks is but other issues arised.

There are thousands of games out there and as I said if someone waits 30m just to play this one it had to show something.

Of course you chat take a person's patience for granted and why they are trying to fix the issue.

The issues you complain about half are game mechanics which have been in such a day one yet the game has grown from what it was. Always remember the posters here are not reflective of how the majority feel they are simply a tiny minority who visit the forums to complain about something. The vast majority simply play the game and accept it for what it is and enjoy it. To say what you are is speculative at best by taking a few hundred players out of what over 1 million on all platforms.

It seems the basis of your post stems from the ruin change. If this one perk was the basis for you doing well may be the change was needed for you as well as others. They have said they need to gather data to see what can be done. It's an ever changing game and a fix isn't simply adding more gen time or another objective as that could have other implications. They need to see what ruin was doing and how it affects how well players do and how long games last with what they now have.

A bad community who trash talk doesn't kill games as dota2, lol, overwatch etc are all the same. It's part of playing online games that others will just act like idiots unfortunately.

Everyone points at the ruin change as the main reason there's been a spike in threads complaining.

Truth is that that much needed perk was the final nail in the coffin for some people. It spelt it out loud and clearly how the Devs were survivor sided and it showed really clearly in the announcement they made for the ruin change and for making doctors rework based on making him less annoying to play against.

Any follow up change will take time so survivors are going to have the advantage of easy gen repairs until change has been agreed, gone through ptb and approved in well over a months time.

Killers have to endure significantly worse imbalance for this time while the Devs collect data. It takes a lot of patience and for all the time people have been playing it just feels like it's not only too slow of a process but it's a slap in the face for anyone currently playing the game.

As for matchmaking. Matchmaking is only fixed until it is broken again. Leaks also show how they're potentially trying to remove ranks to disguise the unbalanced and broken matchmaking which just sounds so typical of BHVR because of the history of band aid fixes they've done before. The BL nerf alone was to get around map rebalancing because of the infinites it caused.

Every fix/balance that is ever done just feels like it's covering up or producing a new problem with the game.

It's easy to whine about what needs to be done but something is a lot better than nothing at all. There are so many things which need attention and all the people trying to convince everyone that everything is fine spouts out the need to adapt.

The way to adapt to start having fun as killer is to play survivor. I feel like a silent but large amount of people are in this same boat.

  • "What has generally happened is the players adapt to a change and the devs gather data to make more changes to the side that has been affected by them."

This is basically saying "We're gonna see how hard we can poke you to see how much it hurts" Trouble is that they're poking too hard and now there is soon to be consequences. I'll still play dbd but you cannot ignore the negative reaction that will take place because it's justified and in my opinion very damaging to BHVR.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

Actually I would disagree. If someone is even willing to wait 30m for a game then it shows they must like playing it. For those that don't wait right now if they can fix it then the issue goes away.

You also have to factor in the 22k number is peak not the whole usetbase and just one platform. This means there could be over 250k- 500k players from different time zones logging in and playing for a time.

Now when it comes to other games many have came out and failed to make a dent in the player base. Something about DBD has people hooked and maybe its the simple concept of it.

The way players react to any change has always been consistent on the forums. Game forums wouldn't be game forums if they werent full of complaints.

Each change for either side has been met with

    I am quitting

    The game will die

    Why only nerf one side

When x game comes out no one will play this

    Etc etc etc

What has generally happened is the players adapt to a change and the devs gather data to make more changes to the side that has been affected by them. Balance is never easy and its always going to be a tug of war.

You say someone who waits 30 minutes must like the game to consider waiting for so long. I simply think this is largely to do with the fact dbd is one of it's kind and there's nothing remotely like it that's any good. Rival big name games are coming soon and dbd should try to do something to keep the players they have by listening and delivering on the needs and wants of the whole playerbase.

You cannot take a person's patience for granted and dbd is right now. Matchmaking is in such a bad state as well as so many issues and then ruin, a band aid fix to game play imbalance is practically being ripped out because it's now useless early game as it doesn't stop survivors doing gens unless you pressure gens as killer relentlessly and stop chasing survivors. But this isn't just about ruin, this is about both sides.

People now complain about having to wait so long to find a killer and that in itself is how one of the foundations of the game is being affected. You cannot play dbd if there are no players wanting to play killer.

And when it comes down to making changes, a killer nerf is being made today, when exactly is the rebalance of generator speeds happening...next midchapter probably and that is way too long to address the games biggest problem.

I can say for myself and others that killer isn't fun anymore and it's not because I'm bad at the game it's because of all the problems I have to put up with. Framerate, lag, broken sound, every survivor knowing how to loop well, flashlights, stuns, gen rushers, teabagging, the dm's/chat and the constant need to try hard to get a result against a group of survivors who end up being rank 19 casual solo players.

Killer isn't fun for most players and I as well as many have stopped playing killer, I've stopped mainly because I get matched with rank 1/2 everygame but beyond that there are so many reasons why it's unpleasant to play.

I'm not a killer main but playing as survivor matchmaking is a joke, sometimes it can be over 40 minutes to get into a match so after my 10th attempt to find a match I'll end up playing something else.

I used to really like this game but the problems which exist and the inability for the Devs to see what they are doing to the playerbase who give their time to playing dbd is beyond me. I cannot enjoy this game and as someone who has had a ton of patience with it I'm literally just waiting to try something... anything which can be as good or better than dbd.

I always hear how it's people threaten to quit playing the game whether you play killer survivor or both however there has been no opportunity to find something dbd-esce until something else pops up.

This isn't just about balance. This is to do with the game functioning as intended too which it doesn't and when it doesn't fixes either don't happen or they take forever.

im having a good time and enjoying the game while people like you are trying to say "game will die because ruin devs do something". this happened many times before and nothing changes, just be quiet and play the game, if you dont want to play it play something else. honestly you should be thanking me for bumping this thread

I didn't say the game was dying. I actually said that the game has consistent healthy numbers however the 'player count' stat doesn't give off any indication of player satisfaction. Whether someone is 'playing' by looking for a match for an hour or playing 40+ matches a day, it doesn't define it in the stats.

And the mentality of "I'm having fun therefore everyone else is" is unhealthy. It's clear how certain changes have and will affect the games health and when you have similar games who will rival dbd coming out then dbd has to get it together to compete.

Side note some people in these forums think they can discredit a whole argument just because of your personal experience playing dbd. The arguments are made within the whole playerbase in mind and not the few who claim to be different.

  • @I_Eat_Worms said:

    no

    cares

If no-one cares then why are you playing the game and commenting on the forums.

  • I think if you want all high rarity add-ons deleted, you're taking the game too seriously.

Dbd is best as a casual game not a competitive one.

  • A dirty Billy can have it too easy imo, a fair Billy who plays normally is no biggy. I expect a slight nerf from a weird angle.

  • People will adapt but people will also leave too.

This isn't a measure of how much fun you have as killer, this is about those who would have been playing killer anyway. These players will have a horrible time more often and that's indisputable.

  • @goat10em I wouldn't say lay off a few off the art department, dbd has been doing well especially over the last year with the cosmetics and all that. They just need to see genuine player criticism and act on it by maybe a few extra numbers to support the game devs where the bugs happen.

  • @Watery said:

I think the criticism is indeed, very necessary. I’d highly doubt that the Trusted Program has anything to do with it though— they just encourage constructive criticism, which is much more usable than just “this game sucks”.

However your argument does hold water, and BHVR, like all humans, makes mistakes, but it’s better to be honest and admit the game isn’t perfect.

Going into the details in regards to a business standpoint, there’d be no point in having people say the game is perfect, especially with how the game is developed and how they do, listen to feedback. Not only would this be a major issue in regards to how funds are spent; but it could cause a huge scandal. Take for example, October 2019– the Sunday Riley Skincare company made it’s employees write fake reviews for them. With that under our understanding, let it also be said that there was a major FTC Lawsuit, which settled with a warning and if any of it continued, there’ll be civil charges. The difference between this case and DBD is, DBD is a game. However that doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible they’d do so, but with the ruin changes already being a huge source of backlash, the negative PR wouldn’t do any better in this, so logically speaking (from a semi-informed business point) this wouldn’t be worth the hassle. A major damage to their credibility just for maybe a few more product buys with the game already going on sale in conjunction with most other sales, and the winter sale, it’s pretty clear that they have the budget for sales of cosmetics, since some retailed for exceptionally cheaper than its standard price.

If you do however feel as if these yes men are partnered and endorsing BHVR products by saying they’re perfect, here’s how to look out for these fake review accounts. The easiest way to apply this concept is by looking at how old the account is, and how frequently they comment.

However none of these characteristics are applicable to said ‘yes men’ nor with the trusted. The Pilot itself states that these users encourage constructive criticism; but that doesn’t mean they think the game is perfect. The same can be said with The Fog Whisperers Program; none of them shy away from having their personal criticism for the game, but like previously mentioned, they encourage constructive criticism.

With their already major gross from the game alone (30 million, which is not as much as the 110 million total gross from the rest of their products), the fake reviews wouldn’t be worth the time or resources especially when they don’t have any issues with sales as is.

TLDR: I agree, but BHVR ran ‘yes men’ accounts are highly unlikely, and Trusted don’t have anything to do with the issue. Looking at companies who HAVE done this, these do nothing for sales since they are not selling a product, and it’s more likely to look for the reviews of the product for this ‘yes men’ situation. Criticism is essential for this games survival, but those FUoTM (or, Trusted), do not do such from what I’ve seen; in fact they can be vocal about it if they so wish.

Really good analysis. I still think too many people on here and Twitter or whatever it is continuously defend every single move dbd takes.

Dbd could tweet New Cosmetic for the Hag 'Thar she blows' (she's a pirate with a wooden leg, eye patch hoop earrings etc.) people would reply "fix the game" leading to lots of people saying it's impossible for the current problems to be fixed. It gets annoying and predictable but most of all it devalidates criticism when it turns into a spst between the two stances.

Also hags "Thar' she blows" outfit when?

  • Personally if Billy's chainsaw put you in 10 seconds deep wound timer and was given a turn add on and a reduced cooldown in his base kit I would find him better to play as and less annoying. Maybe this would suit an add on better.

I always feel bad for insradowning with a chainsaw.

  • @Rex_Huin said:

Is 'Yes Men' code word for 'Trusted'????

The yes men are NOT those with Trusted status. I've seen them share their frustrations with everyone else however I will say that I think some people who are Trusted or whatever feel obligated to 'promote the game' rather than have a disgruntled opinion of the game when you've been given a special title.

This isn't about trusted people it's more about the people who shield and dismiss criticism of the game when it's a genuine annoyance which a player has. The fact that I think a few trusted people are kinda like BHVRs shields to criticism is irrelevant because there are also way more random people who are just defending BHVR all the time.

There's no harm in defending the game Devs but when it's at the point that you're trying to make a mockery of people who are mad and then nothing is done to address these issues it's overall bad for the games health as well as the playerbase.

  • Will the old (original version) of Lerys before the rework still exist as a possible map spawn or will the reworked Lerys be the only one to exist now?
