  • As an aside, due to my day job, I always laugh when I see "It can't be x, because it worked before"

Everything works right up until it breaks. It's like saying "I can't have a cold, because I was healthy yesterday".

  • Who are you playing as?

ok, you either dont play killer, or you just deciding to die in this beach for some reason, LMFAO, anyway have a great night

So I only get counted as playing killer if I'm on here like you, whining about every single survivor perk? Maybe I just like the challenge of a multiplayer game and don't expect wins to be handed to me. Every single time I see you post it's some claim that playing killer is absolutely unfair and Survivors get all the advantages.

I mean this with all sincerity. Why do you even play this game when you seem to like it so little?

LMFAO, my dude, do you play killer at all, are ou saying that a survivor having 3 health states is not a big deal ? are you okay ?

It's not 3 health States, you missed, you have to try again.

    Really that simple.

I play killer quite frequently, I just don't count my hooks before I get them, so I don't find myself overly concerned with a chase taking just a bit longer.

  • I'm not having that issue, and I'm playing on hotel wifi.

    So I don't think it's "everyone"

NOED is good in the right build, as is lullaby, but I'm not sure how good the combo you are running is.

dude, i thought like that, until i played against 2k hours survivor mains, u simply cannot fake attack or anything, u just have to accept, that you are going to use a third swing, there's no other option

    A third swing

That's it? That's the big deal? Having to press m1 a third time?

  • @BadMrFrosty said:

If killers had a 4% chance to instadown survivors with their M1, something that could very well win games, but had a low chance of occurring, would it be balanced due to low odds of it happening? Something tells me it wouldn't be balanced nor fair, but hey, that's just me.

Quite a few killers can get a much better than 4% insta-down chance. However, really it's apples and tangerines.

The game is built on the idea that survivors will be hooked and will be taken off that hook, either on their own or with help.

The 4% chance only applies on first hook, so literally all you have to do is go back to the hook when you get the notification, smack the Survivor once to put them back to dying, and hook again. Voila, no more 4% chance of anything.

If Bubba's chainsaw only had a 4% chance to down a survivor, they would be celebrating in the streets.

    2. Trapper. Respect for the OG.

    3. Myers. Long time Halloween fan, just can't help it.

You possibly lost a game due to a factor you just had to hope didn't occur, but hey, stop whining. Aight, seems legit man. Thanks for your criticism. Killers don't have an equivalent "4% to X" so why is this a thing on the role loaded to the nines with second chances already?

If you lost a game because a single person unhooked themselves, you weren't going to win regardless.

  • Dh is only effective the first time a survivor uses it. Once you know they have it, you should adapt accordingly.

I know, I know, you're going to now claim I'm a survivor main who uses it all the time. Yesterday I was a killer main who relied on NOED because I dared point out that any perk you can remove before it activates just isn't that bad, today I'm a survivor main because I'm going to point out any perk you can bait out isn't that bad. I get it, it's a pain in the ass when you think you've won the chase and it turns out they were playing you. Guess what? That's the game. 90% of the perks in this game "reward bad gameplay" according to someone, because it seems like people around here love to count chickens before they hatch. So he hit dh, you have bloodlust, either catch up while he's still exhausted (which is going to be a while, as the status stays up as long as they run) or move on to a different Survivor.

Yes DH for distance is a thing, so? Sometimes you don't get to win the chase. Deal with it.

It's a chance mechanic that you have the possibility of doing every match no perks needed. 4% AND escaping is pretty rare, but rare doesn't mean it's balanced.

I would argue it is balanced specifically because it is rare. Less than 1 out of every 20 attempts, you'll get off the hook, the rest of the time you'll put yourself into the 2nd stage quicker.

  • No

    It's a 4% chance. That's so, soo low.

Seriously, leave it. Without that 4% nobody will ever try to get off the hook, and gameplay will suffer.

I was wondering, are the current shrine perks worth getting? I was thinking of getting Inner Strength but wasn't sure, I've heard alot about Stridor also. I'm still kinda new and don't know which perks are the best to use, I play both survivor and killer. This is my first post, hope I'm doing this right haha. Hope everyone's has a great weekend 😊

Inner strength is absolutely worthwhile imo. Especially at the 10+ ranks where a lot of Survivors ignore totems. Not only does it help teach good gameplay habits, but it's a heal that doesn't require a smart teammate or leave you exposed.

  • @Scoops_Ahoy said:

We appreciate the events, cosmetics, and remodeling of the stages, but can you please...for the love of the Entity, please allow me to blind/stun the killer when he is in the animation of picking the survivor up. There's absolutely no reason that I should have to time my blind/pallet drop to within a fraction of millisecond to successfully blind/stun the killer while they are picking up the survivor. It's bad enough to belong to the 5% of the survivor base that actually use the flashlight, only to have it become nothing more than a glorified paper weight in situations described above. Like I said before, I, and we, appreciate everything you've done with the game, but between the insane killer hitboxes (I love getting hit while the killer is facing right and I am facing left) and having to time a flashlight/pallet within an insanely small window is, for a lack of words, unacceptable. Save the "super armor" for fighting games and please fix this ASAP.

I'm guessing you are probably somewhat new to dbd. If so, first let me say welcome! Secondly what you are asking for was once done, but the results were so utterly disastrous for both sides that it had to be very quickly undone. Honestly the animation of picking up a survivor only takes about 2 seconds, and from a logic standpoint, it would be very difficult to blind someone who is looking at the ground as they pick up a dying Survivor. Just count 1 one hundred, 2 one hundred then go for the stun.

They actually did know that I had devour since it had been revealed but I guess that's more on them for not looking for the totems.

That really puts it on them even more. If you know devour is on the 4th stack, and you don't clean the totem before the unhook, you are basically asking to get the mori. It's not a new perk, unless they were brand new players they should understand how the perk works and adapt accordingly.

  • I don't believe that to be toxic. If they knew you had devour, they really should have been focused on finding the totem. If they didn't know, then your mindgame was essentially meaningless and wouldn't have fooled them since they didn't know there was fooling to be done

  • 9/10 times you are called "toxic" in end game chat it's not because you did anything wrong, just because you won/killed a salty saltine Survivor. My advice? Turn off end game chat. It's very rarely worth looking at anyway.

As far as tbagging? You've just got to learn to not care. Focus on your game and improving in chases. The rest is just nonsense.

Are you excited to play Trickster vs high-level? Imagine if you could play him today with MMR on. I am enjoying playing survivor. My teammates are remarkable now. Survivor is super fun now. The killer games are very high-level so for once like last week. I enjoy challenge of playing but I can't imagine anyone playing low-tier killers like Trickster or Clown, Myers etc. in such competitive environment. Let's say Otz try to do 50 win-streaks vs actual good players.

I'm excited for it. Killerside the mmr is unique to each character, so I won't be facing the same level groups I do on my main, and will actually have time to learn and adapt. Unlike now where if I try to learn a new killer I'm doing it against people who have invested thousands of hours into the game and come in hard to win, which makes any killer you can't immediately understand very frustrating.

PTB maybe ? 4 years they are talking about this new matchmaking, it will never happen, do you understand this ? You want to know why ? Because they don't know how to evaluate a good survivor or killer.

A killer tunnelnig and camping getting 4k against soloQ survivors will be considered a great player.

A soloQ survivor tunneled during the 5 gens to death that couldn't do anything but running, getting 10k will be considered a bad survivor.

So you think the best way to test a crossplay matchmaking system is to do so on an environment that is PC only? That is actually funnier than anything else you've said so far, except when you call someone a sheep, that always makes me giggle, as it's good to see some slang is still in highschools across the world decades after it started.

You are definitely a fan boy, where are you objective in all you say ?

Yes, the matchmaking in other online games is clearly way better than the one you get in DbD even though they often use the ELO system for team based matchmaking which cannot work as ELO is designed for 1v1.

A BETA tester is someone in charge to test a product before its release. So when you are on the PTB testing the next DLC, you are a beta tester.

And when you are testing new unfinished features on the live servers, you are also a beta tester.

So if you like being someone paying for games and ending up by playing an unfinished game for years because BHVR is constantly bringing new things ant at the same time breaking other things, be it but you can't come here and tell everyone who disagree to continue to be sheeps and accept it or to stop to play the game.

So you enjoy forcing yourself to play games you don't like, or have you just never played an online game before? Yes. I can come on here and tell people that if they don't like a game they should quit playing it. Here I'll do it again.

If you don't like the game, stop playing

As far as calling people sheep? I'll leave that to the edge lords like you who seem to really need the satisfaction. As far as bringing in vaccines? Well you can certainly tell someone doesn't have a point when they start wildly mentioning random other ######### like that, eh?

Tell you what. Give me an example of one mp game that has not addressed balance or matchmaking on live servers. Just one. I'll wait.

oh yes, because all of us read everysingle line of every single eula of everysingle product we buy... i ask you all again, is this really the beach u ppl gonna choose to die on ? LMFAO, u do u i guess

I read it. It really isn't difficult. Most EULA will be broken into multiple sections (what you agree to, what the company agrees to, and an arbitration or other dispute agreement) just like a lease for rental property (which you should also always read) or cellphone agreement. Games are obviously way less important than either of those two examples, but it is still a good idea to read first. Refusing to read the agreement because you think nobody else does is absolutely stupid.

Why would you agree to something without knowing what you agreed to? Hell the main reason I don't use apple is that they can sue you or make your software stop working if you try to install the same sw on two different pieces of hardware. That's in the EULA for every piece of apple software. The iTunes EULA specifically states that they can remove music from the service at any time, and are not required to keep it available for those who actually purchased it or compensate them in any way. So you can buy an album, see it disappear from your library, and have no recourse because you already agreed that could happen.

    Get it?

You are completely ignoring the point of the entire post, but don't worry big daddy BHVR will love you shilling for them while they continue to throw the middle finger at you and release utter trash quality updates patch to patch

The point where the OP doesn't understand what a beta tester is, or the part where a lot of you want to pretend that every other online game has perfect matchmaking that they've never experimented with while the game was live? Condescension does not a point make, if you don't like the game, either due to updates or any other reason, then just stop playing. Y'all act like you are being forced to participate, it's sad really.

  • I had a great day. Played my main (Doc), got matched with groups that put up a fight, didn't feel like I was babysitting a bunch of root vegetables, nor did it feel like I was being offered up for slaughter. Some wins, some losses, some map offerings, some keys, nothing that wasn't fun and engaging.

I know, seems crazy to read something before agreeing to it, but you never know, he could be onto something. I mean your method (of blindly agreeing to stuff without asking what you are agreeing to, then whining about it later) probably has some merit as well, not one I can see, but there has to be something beyond just stubbornness, right?

  • @Dizzy1096 said:

We currently have a ranking system in place. We know that the amount of survivors playing the game vastly outweighs the number of killers, which leads to long survivor queues, which leads to the game greatly expanding its matchmaking parameters which is how we end up with rainbow ranks.

I understand how MMR works but at what point is the matchmaking just saying "oh no these people have been waiting too long better just grab whoever I can and match them together"

MMR can't work if the survivor/killer queues are still heavily lopsided. So is everything going wrong right now a problem with the MMR? or the MMR taking a bit of a backseat to queue times? leading to what I could only describe as rainbow mmr?

Because those waits will likely impact the people at either end of the spectrum. The vast majority of players are going to be right in the middle skill-wise, even if they put in the time to reach red ranks (as we all know the ranks are so broken that you can hit red simply because of how often per week you play, and not how well you do during that time). Wait times at the top may be enough for someone in say the top 5% may get matched with players who are in the top 10%, but BHVR seems to be betting (and I would wager with them) that only a very few players are really at that level.

Count how many times you've seen it: you see someone running to the guy you hooked and you quickly close in, and they pull the dude off. You were already planning on ignoring the dude who just got unhooked, because of BT or DS or ethics or whatever and start running after the unhooker, but the unhooked guy immediately runs into your face and tries to bodyblock you.

Because we can't let that free hit go to waste, can we?

It's dumb. It's real dumb and it makes no sense. I run BT every game because in some situations that's just the only way they're ever going to make it out, even if I have to die for it, but I hate it when I see the guy I just unhooked immediately try to headbutt the killer.

I run that so he won't pay attention to you, dumbass, stop making him wonder if he should just tunnel you to death out of spite.

I say that if the hit counts as a protection hit, it ignores BT and downs them anyway. Maybe with a grace period of a second or two after the unhook, but after that, if you try to bodyblock for your buddy, eat the dirt.

It'll encourage people to split, at least.

After at least 6 games with the new matchmaking system, i played against high winrate killers such as Freddy, Spirit and nurse.

Some were red and green ranks.

I'm purple rank survivor and the matchmaking with other survivors are not bad. not a big difference, just the killers are repeating themselves.

They're always Spirit, nurse or freddy with the most annoying perks.

The game become annoying as well and way more harder.

I don't like this at all.

Sounds like one of three possibilities, though with only 6 matches, it will be difficult to tell, as that's a very small sample size.

    1. You are actually matching at the top of the ranks, and only getting killers who are known to work well against the sweatiest of swf squads.

    2. A lot of killer players are taking advantage of this experiment to play killers they always heard were awesome, but never wanted to try against people of their own rank, now that each killer has their own mmr level, it's easier to try out new killers.

    3. You rolled snakeeyes, which is to say your experience is a random and small sample size. Like if I flipped a coin 6 times and it came up heads every time, does that mean tails doesn't exist? No, each flip is a 50% chance totally unreliant on the earlier flips.

  • @Ghostie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2031054#Comment_2031054

yea, but you have to think about the kind of teammate the survivor has, if they're good or a swf then there is a chance that the survivor will live, but if it's a bad team, then god no it's definitely a kill. but even with a good team it still could end up as a kill, depending on totem spawns and how soon you can find the totem, but it might as well be a free kill honestly, because it's not always easy to find, that's why I see it more as a perk for new killers than higher rank killers, because it gives low rank killers a chance to learn the game. But I honestly just think it should be removed from the game, it requires no skill to use and allows killers to learn how to play the game without always relying on a perk to be able to get the kills

If you have a bad team, you will likely die regardless. NOED is a convenient scapegoat. Totem spawns are not terribly difficult to learn, and there are perks and items that will find them for you, making it even easier.

As far as skill... What perk is it that requires skill to use, exactly? I'm talking on either side here. This is a game that had to add qtes to keep people awake while fixing gens, and even so, it's always the same button pressed. Hell, some Survivor perks require you to fail in order to activate at all. Should they be removed as well?

  • Just to point out, there isn't an online game yet that hasn't experimented with their matchmaking system while live. BHVR is just nice enough to be transparent about it.

This western world society is pure madness.

Ppl are now fine testing things for companies without being paid.

Do you know htat beta tester was a job some years ago ?

And now you beta test things for the developers while it's you who have paid the game lol...

When the game is free, you can't say much and accept, but you have bought Dbd...

So don't play for the next 24 hours. Boom, problem solved. The rest of us that accept that not everything can be tested in beta, and are not so precious as to demand payment for playing a game we would be playing anyway, with at worst, the same broken mmr we've had for years will go on without you.

  • It has to do with the definition of "free".

For NOED to actually give free kills, it would have to immediately put survivors into the dying state upon activation if not hooking them outright. That's what free is. A lot of people seem unclear on the concept. NOED doesn't give free kills, it does make it so you only have to win 50% of the chase to get a down (hence why I used 50% in my example), but you still have to win that chase, get the down, get the survivor to a hook and make sure they aren't saved to get that 1 kill. That's just not free. Easier, absolutely, but not free.

  • @Ghostie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2030780#Comment_2030780

but how does that make sense? "stop acting like noed gives free kills, it only shortens the chase by one hit" that's like saying "stop acting like tunneling isn't a method, it only shortens your game playing." Does that make sense? No! of course not! because that's exactly what both do! Noed is more of a perk for baby killers so it can help them learn the game IMO, I find it a bit embarrassing seeing red rank killers using it, it's almost like they can't play without it and can't get a kill unless they run such a ridiculous perk. And it does kind of put two and two together, that LOWER rank killers are only getting kills because of NOED, easy down against survivors who are still learning the game and to learn how to counter perks like NOED.

"stop acting like noed gives free kills, it only shortens the chase by one hit"

If I sell you an item for 50% off, did you get that item for free?

    YOUR BETA TESTERS !

We are players that have bought the game and we deserve quality. PTB is the platform where you can test your new features but the normal game should never be considered as a test playground.

We have paid the game, the full game to play it and enjoy it. So we deserve a few things :

    • that you listen to the community when we tell you something, but seeing the state of the game you don't listen much...
    • that everything works fine when you release a patch or a new feature
    • that you don't change our game experience with your tests

Hire Beta tester as developers were doing 20 years ago or use your PTB.

What exactly is the issue? They tested all the new perks and characters in the ptb before release. If you are upset about the mmr experiment, well not everything can be tested successfully in the ptb, especially things like matchmaking that have to work across platforms. Should they do nothing and leave the mmr broken, or take 24 hours to see if they found a fix?

Yeah but you're the same person who runs Moris and tunnels streamers out the game just because you've a few bad experiences with them. Imagine hating an entire group of people and treating them differently just because they're different from you. Sounds like someone from the history books👀

You mean like people who hate lawyers? Because you can't seriously be trying to compare a chosen profession to something a person cannot change... Right?

I mean around what evidence is needed

Yes, this is written in the online resources I mentioned.

    how long the process takes

Depends on the volume of reports and the number of mods. I thought this would be obvious.

If it is an automated investigation or if there are individuals handling each report.

Individuals. Who do you think reviews the videos?

And yes, some email response to the user making the report wouldn't go amiss either.

Bad faith actors would pretend the responses are fake and people who are unaware of the fact that temporary bans don't show up on Steam profiles would believe them. There's nothing to be gained from this.

As it is, you're just throwing the report into the abyss and hoping for the best.

Peanits has already proven that reports go somewhere and are read by the mods, but he shouldn't have had to anyway. Most websites don't give you feedback on your reports, they just act on them. It's only DbD that has people complaining, for some reason.

    Fair enough :)

What lack of transparency? The mods have repeatedly given out this information. It's available on various online resources as well. If you mean that you don't get an automated message saying "We acted on your report", the message would be labeled as "fake" the instant it came because in-game bans don't show up on profiles.

  • Billy, he was raised on a farm!

Jokes aside, probably one that you can get bp from stalking or something else that doesn't involve touching the Survivors, so you have more ways to get the sweet sweet points.
