Not really because when they do it i stop playing. Its waste of my time so i usually get them to hook me and move on to hopefully a better game. There is no reason to tunnel at 5 gens...

    So then they win.

So you have rewarded the killer for his strategy. He wanted to win, you handed him an easy win on a plate.

Won't work the sweatiest of both sides will go into the casuals and rampage whenever they feel like it.

So, at worst it would work exactly as it does now.

  • @edgava said:

1-When I was very new I was surprised that is a common thing heal a survivor after unhook him, just under the hook. With hoping killer don't come back to the hook before the healing action is finish. Some killers don't come back, but anothers killers come back to the hook...

If killer come back to the hook is considered dirty play or atleast a tryhard tactic?

2-Face-camping and Near-camping are considered dirty play, but when the 5 gens are completed, much killers hook a survivor and camp near him, and this often destroy the survivors that are trying to rescue him, especially when they don't have Borrowed Time. This is considered dirty play?

    1. No. Returning to the hook is just good sense, especially if the killer has nurse's calling and can see people healing. Never ever assume the killer won't come looking for you if you just saved someone.

    2. Also no, at that point the objectives the killer should have been watching are finished, the only real chance he has of turning the match around is playing the hook.

The only "code of honor" should be among survivors. Help and watch out for your teammates, and don't work with the killer. If that means blocking the killer from reaching the hook with a survivor via pallet, flashlight or your own body, so be it. If it means rushing gens so everyone can get out, so be it. If it involves using a key to try for the 4 man hatch instead of risking the gates, so be it.

Too many people have this idea that they can tell the other team what is and is not acceptable for them, to me that would be like Tom Brady telling the opposing team they aren't allowed to sack him during the game. Just doesn't make sense.

  • I would much rather they just introduce a competitive matchmaking mode for people to opt into, like so many other multiplayer games have. Casual for the casuals who just want to have a few drinks and get jumpscared by myers, competitive for those who need to feel the sweat dripping to feel alive.

Lol give me any map except for underground complex and I'll loop the hell out of it never can figure out looping on that map 😂

I'm the same way with Midwitch You'd think it would be easy, but I always get lost there, either as killer or Survivor. As killer it's almost more annoying cause I'll spend forever trying to find the gen when I can see the aura and hear it being worked on.

  • @DecisiveDwight said:

Oh 100% I don't mind being a lamb to the slaughter if it means my team get to gen rush and leave while I waste killers time by being that one survivor they dread to let back into play bring a torch or some firecrackers save a survivor or two and you're guaranteed to be chased all over the map haha

Fair enough, makes a certain amount of sense I suppose, if you are a decent looper and can keep a killer busy, tilting them so they focus on you will definitely save the survivors like me who loop for ######### :)

When I play killer that stuff doesn't bother me. Really the only in game action that annoys me as killer is when the survivors won and refuse to leave out the open gate, but then I just set the controller down and grab a drink, hit the bathroom, whatever I need at the time. Blinding, saving and body blocking is just what survivors do to try to survive.

  • @prankster1991 said:

Why is it always the pc players that are toxic. Kinda done with that crap. Wonder why killers dont stay in the lobby and have high wait times. It's because of your bs. Really wish i could stop the cross plat.

You can, under options you can disable crossplay

  • @DecisiveDwight said:

I mostly consider it a win for me if I do one of 3 things

    1. Escape

    2. Annoy the killer to the point he tunnels or face camps

    3. Complete my rift challenge or daily

Point 2 is interesting. Most people on here seem to try and avoid killers tunneling or camping, yet you want to trigger it?

This is how I feel, though obviously I'll feel a bit better if I'm the one escapee than if it's someone else.

    Oh yeah, definitely.

  • @My_Aespa said:

As a survivor, what counts as winning a match? Escaping the match? Rescuing the most people? Having the most overall skill? I am curious of other people's opinions on this :)

For me I don't count it a win unless at least 3 escape. Just as on killer I count a win as at least 3 dead.

2 is a draw, 1, even if it's me, is a loss for the team

    That's great news! ######### sweet!

  • Honestly I'd rather have maps based on different properties than cosmetics. Even if we can't get the characters, I'd love to see maps based on more classic horror franchises, and also just want more maps in general. Cosmetics I feel like we have a ton of already. Could more be good? Absolutely, but at a certain point it's just overkill imo.

That's Right, only those who agree with you and your unwritten rules for how posts should be made and how upset someone is allowed to be are decent people, the rest of us who believe in free expression and letting people feel the way they feel, we're just angry and rude.

There's nothing wrong with coming onto the forums and saying that you're having an issue and ask if it can be looked into. However kicking off and swearing and calling people pussies all because you can't finish 1 single challenge is way to over the top. It's a video game it should never be that serious.

My grandfather uses more profanity while ordering breakfast than the OP has in this entire thread. Maybe quit seeing yourself as the morality police, we already have a profanity filter.

So you can't complete 1 challenge in the rift right now. God help you when you get real issues in your life man if this is your response to something so minor.

Heavy condescension going on here. What do you expect someone to do when they find a bug that's stopping them from completing something, not come to the forum for that game to see if they can get a resolution? Is it the worst thing ever? Of course not, but the op isn't acting like it is either. He's found an issue stopping his progress, and would like it fixed. Why don't you?

Ebony mori, pink and purple add-ons... I'm not sure this is an argument that freddy is OP, when he's gotta spend almost 20k bp to get that 4k. From the loadout looks like he was going hard for the 4k no matter who he had played as.

I was thinking that whoever voted to keep playing but was outvoted would be guaranteed a safety pip if they didn't have enough emblems yet for it and if they had more than that they'd get the emblems they earned so you can't screw someone over that wanted to stick it out. If you vote to leave you get the emblems you got with no guarantee of a safety pip unless it's a unanimous vote to abort, meaning all the survivors and the killer vote to abort.

Gotta be a unanimous vote on one team or another otherwise these forums will fill with so much whining it'll break the internet.

  • @AlexisFox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2035362#Comment_2035362

Rules are invented by people. If enough people don't like a rule then it gets changed to suit the majority. Which is why in my opening post I offered up a compromise if there's not enough people in support of the original idea of just removing the timeout.

I could be down with a voting system, but it would need 2 major things to work.

    1. If the survivors vote to leave, the killer should get all the emblem and points he would by hooking and killing the team, that way it's not abused just to "punish" killers who are winning, by the last 2 survivors constantly opting to quit early.

    2. If the killer leaves, all survivors get equivalent emblems and points as though they repaired 5 gens and escaped via the gate, same reason as above with the roles flipped.

  • @AlexisFox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2035349#Comment_2035349

Did you not notice the other people in this thread that offered up suggestions for how someone can leave the match without getting a penalty? People that are going to leave the match are GOING to leave the match one way or another. The penalty is doing NOTHING. So why have it?

Because it lowers the overall amount of people who do.

Kind of like how no lock is 100% effective. You still lock your door because even though it may not keep everyone out, it will keep most out.

By your logic we may as well not have any rules, as some people will always find ways around them anyway.

I never cared about anyone DCing from any match for any reason. I have been playing this game since about the time Nurse was released so you know how long I've been playing and how much I've seen.

So you don't care if your teammates abandon you, and feel like they shouldn't either.

Yeah, you are basically the posterboy for why the penalty exists. Fun talk though.

Let me give it to you again.

    It's not my stuff, it's my friend's.

I don't know where then day penalty came from, but he's said he's had it before.

Shouldn't there be an appeal for it.

It can't be appealed because on the server end, there's no way to prove his internet booted him, as opposed to him pulling the ethernet cord from his router or something similar. It can definitely seem unfair if you are being disconnected by your internet, but it's one of those things there just isn't a good fix for that is 100% fair to everyone and can't be taken advantage of by bad actors.

  • @ZtarShot said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2035330#Comment_2035330

I personally think it's his internet, but he thinks otherwise

Never a fun conversation to have with your friends. Hope he gets it sorted.

  • @ZtarShot said:

Just like every time a new killer comes to town I've gotten back into dbd. I would like to play with my only other friend interested in the game as well, but wouldn't you know it, the first game yesterday, his internet times out and he's banned for a day.

I'm not entirely sure how it escalated up to a day, but I assume for the same reason as right now.

Is there an appeal for this stuff? I actually do want to play since I just decked myself out in the brand new bad Nea hair cosmetic (For reasons a fair amount of people should comprehend)

Sounds like your friend has a lot of disconnect issues.

People get upset when you suggest they check their own internet out, but it's not out of malice. I make that suggestion because as others have already noted, server issues would affect a much larger amount of people. If you don't think your friend is disconnecting from games they don't play with you on purpose, then their internet is probably at least somewhat likely for the culprit.

  • @AlexisFox said:

Firstly, I didn't say they were consistently. I used that as 1 of a few examples and NOT an exhaustive list of the types of matches that I believe are justified to leave. I do not record my matches because I am not a streamer or youtuber so I have no reason to be recording them. Therefore I wouldn't have evidence that they occur but if you aren't new to the game then you MUST have seen matches like that because they DO happen and I don't need to provide the evidence of them you can go watch any streamer you want and they'll run into them from time to time as well as a plethora of other types of matches that they wish they could DC from because they are just obnoxious matches. It's not about 1 specific type of match it's about the types of matches that cause people to not want to play.

"as well as a plethora of other types of matches that they wish they could DC from because they are just obnoxious matches"

It's amazing how you can come so close to realizing why you are asking for something that would be bad for the game without getting it.

I mean, I could be wrong, but somehow I feel like you may not like having a survivor dc from every match you try to get in as Survivor because they don't like that map, or that killer, or the gen placement, or wanted to be the only nea, or didn't get a key on the first chest they searched, or whatever bs reason they'll come up with. That's why the penalty was put in place to begin with. Survivors would dc frequently for any number of reasons, leaving their teams to rot.

What you consider obnoxious, others may not, and vise versa.

  • Both can sniff out hiding Survivors, either by shock or bottle.

Clown's bottles have an advantage over the doc's shocks in a chase because they can make it difficult to see the terrain, which makes it hard to run away.

Clown can't stop people from working gens without bottle bombing the gens, meanwhile doc can get a survivor to madness 3 pretty easily with smart power use, and make them take a break from gens.

Clown probably has the better teachable perks, especially at higher level play.

As much as I love doc, I think it's advantage, clown.

  • @AlexisFox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2035207#Comment_2035207

I'm not new to this game and I know how to play it so don't talk down to me. Quoting the number of players doesn't have any relevance in this case. If there are 3 generators right next to each other and the killer decides to sit at those 3 generators for the ENTIRE game then there's nothing you can do but try to dip in and work one of those gens and dip out when the killer comes for you and dip back in when he goes to check on the other 2 gens he's camping. No matter how you slice it, or what strategy you want to use it draws the game out drastically when it happens. Having 4 vs 1 doesn't matter when the side with the 1 player is the side with the weapon. It's not about being afraid to take a hit because I'll gladly take a hit or even go down to get that gen up. It's about doing it tactically at the right moment for it to be worth taking that hit. If you just go in buck wild taking hits you don't need to be taking you'll spend more time healing from those injuries than working the gens and they'll regress more than you fix them which takes even longer to get them up.

Lot of words to explain why you don't have evidence of these 45 minute matches you claim to consistently get.

And yes, you are new, otherwise you would remember how it was before the dc penalty. It hurt Survivors far more than killers.

Extra BP each month based on the rank you get to... which are pretty small rewards unless you're getting to red rank every month. Doing a week's worth of dailies rewards more BP than getting to rank 4 on a single side. If you got to rank 1 on both sides, it's 500k BP.

Yeah, they could definitely stand with bumping that up quite a bit

  • Tried to play the first game. Didn't enjoy it.

That being said, a dead serial killer rotting in a rusted blood-spattered bunny suit does seem like something dbd would work with well.

I see a lot of people bring up odd points against I would like to consider one by one.

    1. It's a kids game - this one confused me. I mean, if we're going by who plays the most then just about every game is a kids game, aside from maybe microsoft flight sim. If we're going by who has plushies made, that would leave Resident Evil out as well, which is a shame because plushy nemesis is adorable. I played the first RE when I was about 10, as a matter of fact. It was the most talked about game at my school for some time, yet I wouldn't consider the series to be less than because of it.

    2. The killer wouldn't be scary - not going to go for the remarkably easy comparison BHVR just gave us, instead we'll compare a rotting corpse in a bunny suit to the 5ft tall girl wearing David Cameron's ex girlfriend on her head and carrying her Assassin's Creed preorder gift as a weapon.

    3. The gameplay is too different - this doesn't make any sense as an argument. Again, we could compare with Saw, where the premise is victims escaping death traps, not by running and hiding, but by doing something gross and/or painful to themselves, but the real point is bringing a killer into dbd doesn't change the gameplay of dbd. It's not like if the killer picks springlock you'll be stuck in place, you'll still be running around, hiding, doing gens and (hopefully) totems. He may have a jumpscare mechanic in his kit, but so does hag, and I like her mechanics.

    4. The map would suck - honestly I think that's up for debate. If you hate all indoor maps, you probably won't be happy. Personally I don't like middlewitch, but I love the hawkins map, so I think there's a chance it could be good. Chasing people through a dilapidated pizza place, possibly with some surounding roads for outside stuff, or with an underground lab (as I understand exists under the pizza places) to go to as well, could be a lot of fun. Last two expansions haven't even had a map, so I'd rather get one that may suck as opposed to not get one at all.

  • @UnentitledBunnyMan said:

So the survivor queue time is short In your region? During rush hour I can use all my 1m blood points and still don't get a match as survivor in my region which makes me have to be a killer main. Without killers, u don't have a game. Stop asking for advantages when your opponents are already quiting the game.

    This forum is sluzzys game

  • @pitzamas said:

I've played many other games like League of Legends or PUBG etc. which when you level up you get some rewards. Great you already have that in the game. But what about ranking up and climbing that ladder? The game doesn't reward you for ranking up. In league when you reach gold, you get a free skin when you reach platinum you receive a skin and a chroma and so on. When you get Devotion level 1 it resets the IS you receive. That's silly?! Why would that happen? It's like saying, oh great you spend a LOT of time to grind some IS. Here take devotion 1 and we will reset your IS gain per level. Yeah i'd hate that. I suggest that there should be some changes about the Devotion because it's absolutely pointless, and lastly reward the players for playing your game. Thank you for reading this!

    Agreed.

I believe they are looking at doing something similar with the rank system when the new mmr is put in place permanently, but am all for anything that gives more rewards for playing the game.

The numbers I used are realistic and demonstrable. Outnumbering someone is irrelevant when they are the one that can attack. All you can do is run when they come at you. You also may not have 4 survivors alive at that point in time or you may be teamed up with survivors who refuse to go into the killer's terror radius to do one of the gens. Also whatever strategy you are able to come up with is why it finally ENDS after 40+ minutes of struggling to get a few seconds at a time between being chased away and the regressions. So your comment really wasn't very well thought out.

Yeah, I've never had a math last longer than 20 minutes, so I'm going to need to see some evidence to believe your claim of being repeatedly stuck on 45 minute long games.

The numbers I used are very realistic. Yes, the killer has a weapon, most of the time he can hit 1 person at a time with it, and has a cool down between each hit... I understand when you are new that can seem intimidating, but over time you're going to learn.

It's true, you can be stuck with bad teammates. In fact, if you are unlucky enough, you may even get a teammate who disconnects from the match, leaving the whole team in the lurch because of one person not being a team player.

    Yup. One week. 7 days.

    Now let's do some comparison.

On average, companies take about 197 days to identify and 69 days to contain a breach according to IBM.

    Source: https://www.varonis.com/blog/data-breach-response-times/

    Again. BHVR took 7 days.

  • @AlexisFox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2035095#Comment_2035095

Here's the math for you. If a normal match lasts 15 minutes and you get 25k bp for that match regardless of who wins or who loses and you spend 40+ minutes guarding those gens and only get 32k bp because you maxed out your bp that's 7k over those extra 25 minutes that you could have played almost 2 matches during. Oh my... that means if you didn't waste your time sweating over that last generator EVERYONE could have gone to their next match and potentially gotten upwards of 50k bp from 2 more matches in that time you spent getting 7k. Which is the smarter play?

If we're just throwing out random numbers I'll join in.

1 killer. 4 Survivors. If you can't find a way to finish 1 of 3 available gens in 40 minutes, that's on y'all. You literally outnumber him 4 to 1. 521,600 minutes per year, plenty of time to learn strategy.

  • Hook and look for hatch. I take either a 3k or 4k as a win, so I'm not overly worried about a single escape, though I do want the bp for closing the hatch if I find it first.

  • @AlexisFox said:

He's supposed to chase people not follow them for 5 feet and go back to the gens.

He's supposed to win, he does so by stopping the gens from being completed. Just that simple. I know, you want to get a good chase so your teammates can do the gens while you're running. Unfortunately for you, every killer learns really quickly that not every chase is worth pursuing, and that Survivors consistently try that same basic tactic.

  • At least you admit you want the penalty gone so you can abuse it by disconnecting from any match you don't think you are going to win. Also lol at "killers camping a handful of gens" what, is he supposed to walk away and count to 1000 so you can do the gen?

  • And here I was wondering what I would watch to entertain myself for the next few hours.

Is it true that every killer hates Ash or are there other survivors that are more hated?

I'm the opposite. If there's an ash in the lobby, and he's not playing so badly that he ends up dead too soon, he'll get the hatch. Long time fan of Bruce Campbell, so I almost have to.

The exception being a good claudette. She's my Survivor main, so when I see someone's on her and playing well, even as killer I kind of want them to succeed.

In game news had it up yesterday, as well as a few other threads on this forum that the mods responded to already. Doesn't look like they really got at personal data, just usernames, no real names, addresses or financial stuff, but they may be able to work out your email to send you a phishing email, or in game message to try and get something, but as long as you keep basic internet safety precautions in mind, you should be fine

I understood it, it just isn't a third health state.

A third health state would be like if the Survivor got to pick up armor or something and you had to break that to injure them.

You got out mind-gamed in a match and want to blame the perk instead of seeing how you can improve your own game. Given your post history, I am not surprised

you can count yourself in whatever you want, i am just not buying it, there's no way, a person can say "3 health states is no big deal" with a straight face, so again, have a great night sir

i still play this game, for the simple fact that even tho i get bulsshited all the time, i have a small hope that is gonna get better at some point, took a break for 2 months, came back a month ago... and it is a little better, hopefully it shall continue like that, heard that ds is being nerfed, so as freddy (most annoying killer imo)

It's not 3 health States. BT is close to that, but even then not really. You can keep conflating a simple perk to make yourself feel better, but it doesn't change the facts. If they avoid you with DH, you didn't get the hit, so they don't lose a health state, same as If they just juked you or used lithe on a window. This is really 101 stuff.
