  • I don't think I have ever seen anyone seriously claim that there are not hackers or cheats in this, or any other competitive multiplayer game.

The reporting system sucks, and from what I understand you need to have recorded the match, reported in game and filled out a form on their website with the video evidence to have a chance of the report going anywhere. Unfortunately due to the lack of transparency around the report process, that's not even advice I feel super confident with, and could just be a waste of time.

  • Wired or wireless, use what works, just if you are getting constantly dced, please, for the sake of the poor teammates who you'll end up abandoning, fix your ######### or don't play.

I have wifi that's not the best, never been disconnected from DBD.

My friend I SWF with has a wired PC connection. Is regularly disconnected from DBD while he remains connected to discord on the same device...

Figure that one out. I'm pretty confident it's a DBD issue more often than not.

I can actually, it's part of what I deal with in my day job.

Discord has a much higher tolerance for packet loss than dbd does.

That's not surprising, unless you are doing a video call with your boyfriend as he plays (which could cause bandwidth issues depending on his provider and router)

Here's a fun article on the subject, it primarily references wireless, however I can tell you from literal decades of experience that it happens the same way with wired.

The packet loss ratio represents the ratio of the number of lost packets to the total number of sent packets. Each packet has a deadline before which it must be executed, and if this is not possible, the scheduler tries to minimize the number of lost packets due to deadline expiry.

Nothing funnier than getting 3 or 4 notifications of a hex totem being cleansed at the same time.

No, thx. I like my stress level below finals level.

I mean, if you find yourself unable to play effectively with hexes sure, don't use them. As I said in the comment you quoted, I just don't experience the same. Haunted Ground is always fun to see pop, and after that the other hex totems just become part of my gen patrol. Again, that's what I do. If you are unable to effectively do the same, then yeah, that would be super stressful, but as I said on a different thread where someone was whining about exit gate lights, just because you can't do something doesn't mean it can't be done.

  • Just seems like everything demo can do is done better by another killer. I tried, I'm a pretty big fan of the series myself, but even my love for the franchise couldn't get me over the hump to where he was fun to play as.

  • If it's just 1, I'll play normally, as it's likely just a solo Survivor trying to get bp, so the other 3 won't be down for farm town. If there are 2-4 I'll adapt accordingly

  • @dspaceman20 said:

I like using it and it's help me a lot to be stealthy especially near a gen the killer kicked. I know the stigma behind it being terrible and encouraging terrible boring gamplay but if used right it can be really good. Does anyone else like it or am I the only person?

I run it on every Survivor. I'm not great at looping, so the extra stealth really helps me make it to each gen/totem/teammate to heal. Judging by your profile I believe you've been here long enough to know every perk is "the worst", so there is no point putting real stock into opinions here. If you get a good strat or something, try it, but if you are looking for what perks are considered good or bad, this is probably the wrong place for that information.

Your not going to try to work on two gates at the same time until after the killer blocks you from getting one of them. But again as I explained the killer isn't camping from the start on one door but watching the lights. Allowing some time to be wasted as you work on one door. Yes you can leave then and go to the other gate but by now to much time is wasted and you die before the door is opened. And again I say exploit because it's a simple system to abuse the timer and the lights to deny escape.

Your not providing a valid solution to the exact problem I'm describing. It sounds to me like your a killer main and is automatically against anything that weakens a killers chances and will ignore game balancing logic and replace any argument with statements like GET BETTER or ADAPT. even tho you would fail in the exact same situation. Either that or your failing to understand the situation I'm describing. So I'm done arguing with you about it

Adapt is the solution. Something isn't unbalanced just because you don't like it. Looking at lights isn't an exploit just because you want to pretend it is, and you inability to do something doesn't make it impossible. The solutions are there. You can either accept them or not, but the more you post, the more certain I am that you've never gone past green ranks.

Tha balancing logic here is really simple.

It's a 1v4 game. At 1v1, you are supposed it be at a significant disadvantage. Changing that because you don't like it doesn't balance anything, it just caters to whininess. Calling everyone who disagrees with you, (which so far is literally everyone that has commented) a "killer main who doesn't care about balance" doesn't help your case, it just lowers my estimation of your emotional maturity.

If I'm the last one left you can bet your ass I'm trying to get one light on each gate once the hatch is closed. Why the hell wouldn't I want to keep the killer guessing which one I really want? If you wait until you've been stopped at gate A to even attempt gate B, well that's why you are having the problems you are. You can adapt or keep whining. It's all the same to me. As the last Survivor your only advantage is in keeping the killer guessing at your plans. Or I suppose you can stick to one gate like glue and hope he doesn't discover your 9000 iq play of standing in one spot holding a button until he finds you.

Funny part is? The change you are suggesting would make it harder to escape for the last person. Twice he time to open the gate? So you want to be sure that even on the largest maps you can be found before you've ever got the gate open?

I'm not a low rank I've escaped solo plenty of times to but in those situations the killer wasn't doing what I described. Your suggestion doesn't actually counter my problem. It doesn't prevent the killer from camping the middle point of both gates watching for the light. It doesn't prevent the killer from seeing the light then camping that door and it doesn't stop the timer giving you more time to rush the next door after carefully sneaking away without the killer seeing you leave that gate. And if it's a killer setting traps at both games and getting notified when a traps is tampered with then you definitely have no chance. I dont care what your rank is or how good you think you are if a killer does this in endgame in a 1v1 the last kill becomes a free kill.

Aww, you double quoted me. Adorable.

So you want to have the exit lights removed in 100% of 1v1 situations because in less than 5% of those, bad gate placement or playing against trapper is too hard for you? Again, give one good reason why the rules should change just because the killer is winning?

  • @Kyledbd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2029011#Comment_2029011

Exploiting Game design to gaurentee last survivor doesn't escape by monitoring the lights, camping the gate the survivor works on and letting the time run out. What confused you about the word exploit?

I'm getting alot of killer mains being against my suggestion but not a single person is sharing a tactic to counter a killer who plays like this. So everyone commenting is in favor of the concept of the last survivor not even having a chance to escape which to me sounds like killer mains wanting as little challenge as possible and having a completely biased opinion...

Why don't you try the other gate? Pretty easy.

Survivors who stick to a single gate like glue when they are the last left always make me chuckle. It's like they want to lose.

You keep claiming the last Survivor doesn't have a chance to escape, but that's patently untrue. As I've said before. I've done it. You can watch Ohmwrecker do it too, or many other streamers. Just because it's something you can't do yourself doesn't mean it's not possible.

Still, not an exploit. If you are only going to work on a single gate, you are asking the killer to meet you there. All the whining in the world won't change that. Learn to use the gates effectively or don't, but the lights aren't being removed to compensate for your inability to adjust your playstyle to the circumstances.

I'm not saying easier, I'm saying possible. I would suggest double the gate progression time to open but remove the lights. The exploit of the killer monitoring lights after closing hatch in a 1v1 doesn't make the situation hard but impossible. In football if one team is winning it wouldn't be fair or fun if during the final quarter the winning team is the only team allowed to score right? There is still a chance for a comeback in football but in the situation I described there isn't.

It's possible now. I've seen it done, I've done it myself. It isn't easy, but then, it shouldn't be. So you've already got your wish. Rejoice!

Seriously, looking at lights isn't an "exploit" and the sooner you quit claiming it is, the sooner we can take you seriously. It may feel impossible at lower ranks, but escape via the gate as the last one standing is very possible as long as you do it right. It takes strategy, patience and the ability to know when you have to rush. Just like football

  • Is he going to be armed as he is in the games, or would we need to find some half assed reason why someone who was good fighting weird spiky tentacle zombies is scared to hit a teenager with a hunting knife?

  • @Kyledbd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2028906#Comment_2028906

I'm referring to games where you are playing solo with random. You might get all 5 gens but if 3 of your team mates die by then and if the killer knows the hatch location then you are stuck in this situation not because you failed but because the random the game put you with did and because the killer knowing the hatch location always = no hatch escape.

If you blow it with friends that fair but when you play good but still get trapped in the 1v1 it sucks. I agree the endgame 1v1 should be very hard but not impossible. The lights allows killers to exploit game design to make it impossible instead of just really hard. To edit my suggestion I would say double the progression time to open the gate but remove lights (only if 1 survivor remains)

    "Exploit"

You keep on using that word. I am not so sure it means what you think it means

  • Why do you believe you deserve an easier escape because your team died? Why should the system be changed just because the killer is about to win fully? In football, you dont see the losing team getting to start their offense on the 20 yard line in the 4th quarter just because they are losing. The rules of the game stay the same for the duration, in that way it is fair, because it is a situation everyone has implicitly agreed to.

    I love the doctor!

My mom loved Plague so I would play her for my mom. And my daughter loves Huntress, so ditto.

But my favs are Doctor and Legion. And I can be a very friendly Doctor, just let me drive you insane. But yeah I had a game where everyone were being dolts and not doing generators or healing except 1. So I was VERY careful to not hook them. I would carry them on my shoulder as I couldn't trust the others to unhook this player who I always found unhooking people or trying to heal them but missing their check or on a gen. The rest were pointing each other out and not bothering with the gens.

Turned out at the end the 3 were red ranks. The one that I allowed to escape was rank 20.

I want to try plague, but I'm waiting for the mmr change.

Doctor is my favorite shocky boi, 2nd is probably hag or Myers.

I tried Huntress, I love her kit, but my aim is trash, so I don't do well on her.

Always fun taking out the 3 person swf who wants to play "Redshirt" with the 4th. I consider it a public service.

Sounds good, doesn't work. Wanna feel stressed? Equip 4 hex perks and try to defend them. Hell, even 2 is impossible.

Hex Roulette? That's my hag build. Undying, haunted ground, devour and thrill of the hunt. Got no issues with totem defense. Sure every now and then one will get broken, but by that point I've done enough damage with it I don't mind the loss of a perk, and am in a good place to finish the game strong.

Deathslinger you need to not only hit the player but also reel them in so there's a bit more to him being successful than the Huntress. Huntress you just need to hit someone with the hatchet from a distance and plenty of good Huntress players can do this so the add on will still be useful for them. Putting the range restriction means no more ridiculous point blank insta downs.

I thought people didn't like the iri head because she could 1 hit you at range (unlike every other 1 hit, which is melee) . If they catch up to you're going down regardless of iri head. (M1 to injure, toss a regular hatchet when you get the temp speed boost from being injured)

  • @gendoss said:

I'm also not saying you are required to not use iri head, i'm just asking what the thought process behind it is. Like why people don't want to improve at the game and want to be handed wins.

5th time you have posted in this thread something that makes me very certain you aren't actually looking for a dialogue. You've decided already what you believe, and won't hear anything against it.

I play console, I use iri heads from time to time, (pink add-on, and I prioritize perks in the bloodweb, so I'm not exactly swimming in hatchets) my aim is terrible enough that I'm as surprised as the Survivor if I get a hit with it.

You never touched the argument of toxicity when camping or even with the video, the only thing that matters to you is that the images that I uploaded ... better go and continue camping.

Indeed. Honestly I just don't believe you. It's pretty clear to me you are more interested in feeling put upon, and more than willing to hope people fall for your screenshots. So at this point, I kind of doubt you are even the rank 3 player you are pretending to be. That makes it difficult to engage in a conversation about camping, which, to be honest is less "toxic" and more just a killer playing to lose, unless your team is dumber than the killer, in which case they'll hook bomb and make camping extremely profitable. If it helps, I'm sorry you lost a video game in a way you don't like.

Yes. I am very aware that you just threw up 3 random screenshots like they proved anything beyond your ability to find the print screen button on your keyboard. So now you've come clean as well, you still think you made some sort of point? That's adorable. As far as the video? I'm good, I don't really need to watch someone fail at a game today, but you have fun.

It is an example blessed genius !!! ... but the reality is not very different, and that is if they beat you in the basement, they come down to rescue you and the killer lowers the whole team, are you new? or you never played survivor.

Its a poor example. Seriously, not even close to an even amount of camp time (unless of course you were just lying and he really just "camped" long enough for the screenshot) now you want to bring up the basement, where you weren't even hooked. You get that straw for your men on sale? You know what I find interesting? Rank 3 survivor, rank 10 killer. Are you sure you aren't just upset because you died to someone you don't consider to be on your level?

What a great penalty for the Killer !!!!

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1SKK7CUSBOGI/image.png

I lose pip, time and the game becomes toxic and boring.

So you got camped, took a screenshot then camped another (for not very long) and took a second screenshot. Is the third one from the game you claim you were camped in or from some third game you played? You know even the noobiest noob here doesn't believe you can see the killer's emblems from a match you played as Survivor, right?

  • 4 minute ban, you've gotta be leaving a lot of matches to get that... Yet you want to blame the killer for taking advantage of bad teamwork? You keep talking about what he did after slugging 4 Survivors, what I want to know is how he got you all down. How did this killer you claim to be horrible managed to put 4 Survivors in the dying state without one of you picking up your buddy? Were you all clumped together trying to body block? Did all 4 of you decide to work on the same gen in the middle of the map? Real easy to blame the killer for taking advantage of the terrible situation you put yourself in.

  • @Zixology said:

The point is that it's something the survivors can use to avoid the killer. And anytime there's something that's pro-survival, 99% of the community complains about it.

The point seems to be your need to put words in others mouths that they did not say. There have to be easier methods to try and publicly martyr yourself.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

    Agreed, OP.

I also gotta laugh at people who say gwtting hit with NOED is punishment for not completing an objective. Totems are not a secondary objective. As soon as there's a little totem icon next to the gen icon, each with their own numbers that countdown as you complete/cleanse them, then it will be an objective. Until then, totems are no more an objective than chests. Totems are not even in the ######### tutorial.

While I disagree on their status as a secondary objective, I am fully in agreement that the tutorial needs to actually bring them up. But then the tutorial for both killer and Survivor is so lacking in information that its only real use seems to be free bloodpoints

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

So, I wanted to talk about why noed is so hated by the community. As many people will say, noed has a lot of counters, do totems, stay stealthy and go for gates, cleanse it and loop normally whilst always expecting it, to name a few. So it's well established that it's not op or underpowered, then why so much hate around it?

Because it feels like the survivors get punished for doing their main objective and the killer gets rewarded for not patrolling. With noed a killer can easily 4k if the survivors decide to try and save the unfortunate first victim. Also, there is no timer or how many exposed swings you have, you can do it forever if noed is well hidden or trapped. For example, I played against a deathslinger that sticked with me almost for the entire game. Last gen popped and a teammate tanks a hit on shack for some reason. The urban evading claud also get cought. Both of them downed and hooked on shack, the totem was also near that area and the gates were on the same side of the map so we had no way of escaping or getting a safe rescue, whilst being unable to cleanse the totem since it's in his patrol area. I had to lure him away from the doors so at least one of us escapes.

In that situation I felt punished for playing well and looping the killer, but the killer was then rewarded for throwing the game just to get me, because a 1 in 1000 situation occured.

And that's the exact reason it's so hated. The community believes it's used by bad killers who don't know the game/character or their tactics consist of throwing the game and get rewarded in the end with noed, which isn't always the case. Endgame builds do exist, and the devs keep adding endgame perks to make em a bit more interesting. Personally, I believe that noed is simply a second chance perk for bad/mediocre killers that don't have access to good slowdown perks or can't keep pressuring gens. But at the same time I believe it's an enchantment for endgame builds.

Tldr; it just feels punishing for the survivors doing their objective and promotes not patrolling/caring about gens.

NOED is the equivalent of being beaten by a blue shell in the last part of the race in mario kart. It upsets those that believe if they are currently winning, then they should win the game. It isn't over until it's over. Mario Kart added the airhorn, dbd has totems.

  • A lot of people seem to fail to realize there is a delay. As in, even if the OP was trying to use the stream to gain intel, his intel would be between 2-5 minutes behind, which for a game like this makes it essentially useless. Probably funny as hell though to hook someone and then hear on the stream "he's coming, but won't get me".

So yeah, I say it's pretty fair. More to the point, the mods have already confirmed it is not something that is considered reportable behavior. (Probably because they too, understand that there is a significant delay that makes any perceived advantage moot, or just because proving it would be very difficult)

  • Anything that involves getting more bloodpoints on either side I'm for.

Do you play on pc or console?

I'm console, and I am starting to believe she's a lot easier on pc, but need more data.

  • Sounds like the issue is more delivery than the information being offered. I get that. I think it comes from the person offering the "advice" feeling like they have to defend their favorite killer from an ever-present nerf threat. To be fair to them, part of that may come from the tone of the OPs,

I've seen those threads, usually they have a super-helpful title like "Nerf killer x" and the body of the first post won't be "hey, this killer always beats me, any suggestions on how to fix that" but more "this is op, and this isn't fun and this should be changed" which immediately triggers a defensive reaction from those that play that killer and would rather they not be significantly changed in ways that may stop them being as fun to play. So instead of responding with "well, in the future when you know you're up against killer x, you can try these tactics" they go with "nu uh, perk A totally counters killer x, just bring it and you would have won." Then you see that, it grinds your gears, and we end up here. I could be way off, but I don't feel like I am.

Well, I've seen people say "Run No Mither against Spirit for noise reduction". That one in particular made me jerk my head so hard I need several rounds of physical therapy. I've seen people say you should bring Detectives Hunch to counter Undying and Ruin, which sounds solid enough until they run that in matches where it does absolutely nothing for them. Bring maps to counter Trapper, run OoO to counter Hag and Trapper, bring Flashlights to counter Hag, the list kinda goes on.

Anyone who wants you to run no mither is not your friend.

  • If I tunnel it's either accidental (couldn't tell survivors apart due to same character/similar cosmetic situation) or because I just keep finding the same Survivor. (Sorry, if you run into me, I'm going to try to hook you, no matter how long ago we last saw each other)

Camping is only something I bother with at end game if there are more than 2 alive. If it's only 2 I'll hook the one and go find the other, but otherwise with no gens to patrol there is no point in leaving unless I can see another Survivor

  • I always took it as them recommending, however inartly, that you carry some perks in your loadout going forward to assist in those situations should they crop up. A few are more useful generally in others, of course, but I can't think of a perk that is only effective against a single killer.

"NOED doesn't require the killer to do anything to activate"

-85% of perks on both sides work like that. Items are activated, perks can be passive buffs.

    "Only bad killers use NOED"

-Citation needed. So far there has been equal anecdotal evidence provided for and against. In general the claim that only a bad player uses any specific item or perk is a fallacy, as the wide spectrum of playstyles and meme builds will never die out

"Cleaning totems takes too long/is too hard when being pressured by the killer"

-18 seconds with 0 skill checks. Most are located near generators, once you learn the maps you no longer need any of the items or perks that exist to find totems for you, you'll know each spot to check. At the end, you literally removed a perk from the match. Nothing else in this game works that way. The absolute closest killers have is Franklin's, which only removes an item if you win a chase first, and nobody simply walks by and picks it up off the ground after you've won that chase and made the Survivor drop it.

"There's no skill needed to use NOED"

-like what, the skill of hitting a qte that is always the same button for everything? Maybe y'all haven't noticed, but no perk on either side takes any particular amazing skill to use. They range from passives that are always active, passives that become active based on actions of the other team, and actives which take a single button press to use. The only item that takes any skill is the flashlight, and that's negated if you wait until the killer is stuck in an animation. The skill isn't in activating the perk, it's in what you do after it has been activated. As one person pointed out, end game can last as little as 25 seconds. That's a very small amount of time to capitalize on NOED as the killer, and you may have the totem broken even sooner. Skilled players will take advantage of those seconds, unskilled players will not be able to do much even with the added buff of the hex.

  • Oni's Fat Cock doesn't do much for me.

I mean, it's just hammered in there, no playing around beforehand, no subtlety, just right there slammed into you.

I much prefer Oni's Ragin Vein. Or Oni's delicious blade

All the other end game perks require the killer to do something. NOED does not. An experienced killer will realize that being stronger for a full game is better than being stronger for the 20 seconds it takes to open an exit gate. This is why NOED is weak. Because the “end game” that NOED killers refer to is as short as 20 seconds. Why would anyone who wants to win sacrifice a perk slot for 20 seconds of endgame? Good killers don’t.

NOED requires exactly as much action as ruin. As far as why killers like end game builds? The ones I know who run them do it specifically for the extra challenge of shutting down 4 survivors at the gate, they get bored playing the same gen defense every game, and like to switch it up. Like I said earlier it's not for me, I just don't feel myself so superior as to claim I know the one true way to play killer.

Some players like to go for kills early, some like to wait until the end and remove all hope. NOED serves the latter crowd, and consistently upsets survivors who feel like 5 gens should promise a full escape. You see the killer breaking off chases and think it's because he's bad. I see a killer keeping survivors occupied and learning their patterns before he goes in for the kill. A bad killer can't do much in the end game. A better one can make the end game the most exciting part of the whole match. You can keep on claiming you know the only correct way for a killer to think and strategize, the rest of us will enjoy the cornucopia of tactics that is dbd in higher ranks.

Like I said, it’s for killers who aren’t good enough to get the kills before the endgame. It’s a game patch for the skill patch. The devs have not been able to figure out what to do to fix the game, so they leave NOED in.

That right there is a logical fallacy. You assume every killer has to get kills prior to end game to be "good". We both know that there are many end game perks, and several builds around those. None of them require kills before the endgame, because reaching the endgame is the point. It's like boxing. When mayweather starts the first round and throws few punches, just staying huddled, it's not because he suddenly became a bad boxer, it's because he's not one to try and end a fight early. He plays the later rounds to his advantage instead.

I didn’t step away from the 5 minute time frame. I simply stated the minimum time commitment to be two gens which is 160 seconds, 2-1/2 minutes. Unless of course you do what most survivors who are better do, and just wait till it activates and then cleanse it.

So you worked out that the longer time commitment is only to completely stop the perk from being able to activate at all, which again is something you can't do with any other perk. You can wait and just clean it like every other hex, or spend a bit more time in the mid game and deny it from ever activating at all. That right there is the balance. If you think the killer may not be working particularly hard to keep the gens off, he's probably running an end game build, which likely includes NOED, so plan accordingly.

First off, it’s not “some small amount of work”, it’s a minimum of two gens worth of time. That’s not a matter of debate, and it doesn’t matter how many survivors are looking, the time cost is the same. Basically NOED asks survivors to waste two gens worth of time minimum without offering any type of incentive to do so. They are just supposed to waste this time every freaking game without reward in order to prevent a bad killer from becoming viable.

Second, DS and UB are perks designed for anti-tunneling, and anti-slugging. UB requires zero effort to counter, you just hook them. DS is a little trickier, but only if they are also running UB. Regardless, neither perk allows survivors an unlimited speed increase for the remainder of the game. Anyone complaining about kindred may need to check in to a hook campers anonymous group.

In my many thousands of hours of play, Killer’s who run NOED rarely get more than 1 kill before all the gens are done. Most of the time they don’t even get that. They typically do not know how to apply map pressure at all, and spend the whole game failing at chases while the gens pop. They don’t have to get any better because their whole plan is to finally win chases when they get their speed increase.

    "It takes 2 gens time"

Said like someone who truly can't think in terms outside of rushing gens.

Imagine people running end game perks not trying particularly hard to avoid the end game, lol. What's next people with traps trying to lead you to them? That's your entire argument for the killer being bad, that he isn't trying to avoid a phase he knows will help him out if you don't remove the single totem as soon as it lights up? Why should a killer with any end game build do more in the middle than farm points? He wants you to finish the gens and not think about totems, you fall into that trap, and it makes him bad? Comical.

I don’t need to prove anything. Everybody knows that for killers who go against rank 1 survivors, NOED is not in their builds unless they want to lose. It’s a game patch the devs leave in because mid-tier killers are not as good as mid-tier survivors. NOED is the answer to bad killer’s skill level.

If that really is the case, as you continue to claim without any evidence, then the time commitment to stop the perk from activating shouldn't be an issue. You don't need to gennrush against killers who aren't at the same skill level as your team. The only time every second in a match matters like that for survivors is when they are facing a killer good enough to keep pressure on all 4 people. (Though I am glad you stepped away from the ridiculous claim it took as much as 5 minutes, when it clearly doesn't.) Against a mediocre killer, there just isn't a reason each Survivor can't take 30 seconds to go clean 1 totem each, and then you've only got 1 dull left.

  • Why? According to your own post the killer was so good he kept you off his totems. Why shouldn't he get the benefits of that defense?
