I'd like an option that does not involve eating a DS. The second option does not work for the below reason:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2824476#Comment_2824476
I'd like to be able to buy captain Morgan pre-mixed with Dr pepper, but we don't always get what we want. The counters are there, if you are too worried about someone crawling away, or taking a quick stun in a more favorable part of the match to use them, that's your problem.

I don't want something that works 100% of the time. I want something that has even a mildly reasonable chance of success. Them being unhooked with DS active during the endgame has close to 0% chance of being caught again (assuming the player in question is not bad).
Then either tunnel it out of them beforehand, or slug them after. Those are the options that provide a reasonable chance of success

Not reliable to lean on in the slightest.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2824472#Comment_2824472
How does that stop them from crawling out the gate?
It doesn't, unless you slap them down far enough away, if you want something that always works 100% of the time without fail, try single player games.

Tunneling and camping can be beat during the end game. DS cannot. :P
Slap em down, wait for their friends to come try to pick them back up.

As far as the game is concerned, there is no difference.
Of course there is, otherwise losing a single match would drop you to the bottom of the mmr ranking, no matter where you were beforehand.

the issue is that people clump everyone together. Its not everyone being toxic. Its a group of people, not all dbd players are like this. Theres an old saying "the smart people listen to the wise and fools. The wise know the difference." The devs need to learn this
That's one of those things that are far easier to suggest than they are to actually do. Especially when there's literally just thousands of toxic, ######### comments

That sucks. new hud looks better anyways. The devs need to learn who to and not to listen too. Nasty people in this community
Seems to be the trend here.
People demand/ask for more communication, but when it is given people (hopefully different from the first group, but not always) tend to either use that information to be petty and toxic arguing with other users, or just use it to be ######### to the dev. As a result, we end up with fewer devs willing to get harassed just for trying to let people know what's going on

That is precisely what they did during the most recent swish tourney. Unless you think going six meters away from the hook is proxy and not face camping. I'd qualify it as facecamping, since the effect is identical.
6 meters away? Yeah, that's a proxy in my book. Unless you are close enough to slap the survivor on the hook, it's a proxy

Facecamping is the optimal strategy most of the time, like it or not. Unless you think tourney players are bad at the game?
I'd say proxy camping is, but actually staring right into the survivor's baby blues whole they hang out? Your denying yourself visual information by having the body of the survivor centered in your sight. Unless you're playing bubba, the slight speed advantage towards would be saviours just isn't worth the lost information on where they are, imo.

I'd recommend getting an allergy test, to see what causes your diarrhea. Avoid that substance.
If my best friend abandons me because she wants to have no friends, shall I try to convince her otherwise and maybe rekindle our relationship, or should I just accept that the person I used to spend all the time in school with is just gone?
Did she say she wanted no friends? Because while school friends rarely stay through your adulthood, actively trying to have 0 friends seems like a sign of mental issues to me. Either way, as you aren't her parent, there's not much you can do except respect her wishes and make sure she knows the lines of communication are open when/if she wants to reconnect
I have to travel constantly for work, but suffer insomnia in hotel rooms. Sleeping pills mess me up in the am. Any suggestions?

You don't need to see, I'm sure the killer who slugged you will keep an eye out so you can remain undisturbed 😉

Ok, so tell me. How do I want to balance the rest of the game?

If you lost, you lost. The skill of the opponent has nothing to do with the fact that the outcome was a big fat L. What's the difference? You hook 8 unskilled players and kill 1 of them vs. you hook 8 skilled players and kill one of them. The outcome is identical. Only kills matter.
If I play a game against people who have not played before and lose, I feel it shows a far greater lack of skill than if I play against a team of people with thousands of hours in the game and lose. Or, to use a sports metaphor. Just because the jazz lost to the bulls, doesn't mean that Karl Malone isn't a skilled player. If they lost to the SLC boys and girls club Jr team however, that's another story.

BBQ is especially good, maybe ruin as well, tinkerer maybe? They all work great with her map pressure.
How does one decide between unlocking Mikaela for CoH or Kate for WoO, when they have 9k shards?
Do you often find yourself on the ground thinking that if only you had seen the window, you'd have made it? WoO is a fine perk, but I think CoH will benefit you more long term, as your map knowledge improves, while WoO will be less useful the more you know.
Other than tunneling out the person who brought it, What is a good way to counter CoH?

Ahh. Makes sense.
-
Most characters, survivor or killer, come with 1 top level perk. That's how it's almost always been. I mean, take Laurie for example. People leveling her aren't hoping to unlock Sole Survivor, they want DS. With Mikaela, once you have CoH the only reason to keep playing her is the cosmetics. Nancy had Inner Strength, and fixation, which is only good for teaching new players how scratch marks work.

Depends on how skilled your opponents are.

Thats bullshit. The answer is get better at chases or if youre strategic at all, think about gen defence/pressure. But the answer is never be a jerk and tunnel someone.
Question, you ever play a team based pvp shooter? Or even play world of warcraft? I ask because it is quite common to see support/heal characters in those types of games "tunneled" out all the time, as is correct and proper if you seek to win. Would you consider those people "jerks" as well? If not, what is it about DbD that makes it so special in this specific regard?

I honestly bail on people all the time...some of my reasons are very petty, haha.
There are times when you should bail, though, as you're just feeding if you don't - knowing when to do this IS a skilled play.
If I'm by the gate and NOED activates a bit away from me, I'll 99 and try to find the totem in the immediate area...no totem, I'm dipping.
I'm the same way. Once the gate is opened, I'm out unless I'm reasonably certain I can manage a save and get us both out.

- As I mentioned in the end, Bubba's facecamping is matter in its own regard. He is so well-built for facecamping that any general solution to facecamping is doomed to fail if it's not tailor-made for him. The rational approach would be to see if (stress on the conditional if) he can be fixed. As a matter of fact, many people on this board seem to defend his ability to facecamp, so this conversation will probably be sterile.
- I was wary of making it clear that proxying will be 'relatively' unchanged. In a machine with so many parts in motion as DbD, no change can be assured to be 100% surgical on one single aspect without at least affecting a tiny bit of something else. It's all a matter of making sure everything is balanced out. Unhooks while in chase already happen currently and it's generally a bad play from the survivors' part regardless. I.e. they're making me a favor as killer when that happens, as far as I'm concerned. So, I don't see it as big source of concern personally, but ymmv. The difference is that certain killers can stop them, normally those killers that are already good at camping in general, while others most often than not can't anyway. My solution would balance the playing field if anything.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2823992#Comment_2823992
Regarding your last paragraph, I disagree. Maybe facecamping isn't the best course of action (most of the time), but camping the very first hook almost always is. Baiting out a rescue bypasses the need to look for another target while you ensure you're defending one of your resources. The survivors come to you for the rescue, possibly more than one. Then you be non-committal about chasing the first rescuer and someone else must come. Then you facecamp into second stage. You took people off gens with minimal effort.
A good mix of a strong killer with a slowdown+endgame perks seals the deal. This is and has always been the optimal strategy and essentially overwhelming in pubs. It backfires only when survivors go full depip squad and simply don't go for altruism by default. But even then, you can mostly ensure a 2k at 2 hooks. And MMR will pat you on the shoulder.
Unhooks in chase do happen now, but with the grab, I (as killer) can stop the unhook, hook the player who made the bad play, and perhaps help them learn why such an unhook is a bad idea. If I can't grab them or shock them to interrupt, then my next best option will be to go for the recently unhooked, which rewards the bad play of the survivor who likely did the unhook mid-chase to get away, and makes for a less fun experience for the survivor who was "saved" only to immediately be back up, another hook state down.

I don't have any feelings toward the clip, I was just providing a reference from where the quote came from as it was requested.
Regarding the devs alluding at addressing facecamping, I'll believe it when I see it. There have been many ideas about changes in DbD over the years that have seemingly been gone and forgotten. We shall see if this one is any different.
Your suggestion is one possible solution, but also dangerously dependent on the killer power itself. Ironically, it doesn't work for the very killer it was implemented for, i.e. cage relocation activates when closer than 5m to a cage, but PH's POTD has a base range of 8m. The killer can simply stand at outside relocation trigger ares with the power cocked'n'loaded and instantly redown upon uncaging. Hooks would be a little more lenient, because hook perks proc, but ranged killers will still pose an issue.
Personally, I think the easiest way to go about it is to remove hook grabs and interruptions, which are an ill-designed mechanic that does reward facecamping. The action is started without channeling and the rescuer should stay locked in the animation (very much like killers do when picking up) and that's it. Camping and non-camping killers will still get a 1 for 1, but the camper won't be able to force a 2nd stage by threatening grabs, or any other sort of action interrupting actions (e.g. Doc spamming shocks, but there are many others), or even by getting a grab and slugging under the hook. This change would be neutral for non-facecampers, while still leaving proxy'ing relatively unchanged, as in the devs' intentions.
bUt ThEn SuRvIvOrS wIlL jUsT fArM iN mY fAcE (I can already hear that coming from somewhere in the fog). Well, no #########. Saving in the face of a facecamper is the only way of saving. If one isn't facecamping, then it won't matter that much.
Notice that hilariously, Bubba would still be able to do (most) of what he could do now. But that's an issue with his own specific design that the devs simply refused to fix.
Couple thoughts.
1. As you noted, that would do literally nothing against the character most often used to facecamp.
2. Yes, they would farm, they would go for unhooks while being chased, so it wouldn't just affect face camping, that sort of change would impact any form of hook defense.
-
I like going up against the hell priest. Wish I saw him more often, honestly. Unique gimmicks, fun voice lines (when they work) and counters that you have to think to employ, without feeling too cumbersome.
-
Honestly nobody, outsourcing part of a game design tends to fail a lot (see deus ex boss fights, Andromeda visual glitches, etc) not sure if it's lack of communication, differing goals, or what.
However if we ignore all of that and just look at this game in a vacuum?
Either blizzard or Turtle rock would be my first choice. Both have a proven track record of solid map design, and blizzard especially has a few decades now of making multiplayer maps for pvp.
-
For me Badham and Midwitch occupy the same sort of "love the look and theory, tend to dislike actually playing the map" that I had with Hawkins. All 3 were wonderful from a visual standpoint, full of Easter eggs for fans of the franchises they represent, but the actual gameplay in the maps leaves me wanting.

Yeah, you won't pip without killing four players minimum as a killer.
game doesn't really allow killers to play anything except tunneling/camping, unless they match with extremely weaker opponent.
To be fair, there's only one game I can think of that was a team based multiplayer game that didn't have any form of tunneling, and that was F13, and the reason there was no tunneling is because once Jason got you, that was it.

I think 8 hooks with 4 man alive for entire match is pretty good at chase.
Sounds like the root is that he didn't pip. So he feels no progress was made.
"But I don't get anything on progress killer only zero." I think this is in reference to the pip system
-
I mean, it's not like we're talking about someone taking a short route during a marathon or something, the hatch was intended at the time to work as it did, so I don't see it as much of a "shortcut". Honestly I think if they just made keys more rare they could have kept old hatch, (well, hatch 2.0) but that's just like, my opinion, man.

Well keep in mind the game is damn near free on consoles. While the player base may be high that alone does not mean it's in a healthy state. Like a joke from the late Robin Williams "too big to fail! That's like saying to fat to die".
I don't think the game is in a good state. In fact I think it's horrible right now but we all know it won't die anytime soon. There's no real competition.
It's free on gamepass but then If you have gamepass, there are literally hundreds of other free options to play, even without the cost, there is a significant time investment that people wouldn't be up for if they didn't enjoy the core gameplay.

I am a diehard Pig main, but lately I've been broadening my horizons and trying other killers. I thought I was a good killer player until I stopped playing Pig. There was a new challenge not being stealthy and I've been working with it, but still my matches seem to crumble apart.
Most of the time I don't get my first hook until the second gen is done. I try to keep the momentum of pressure but I cant usually find survivors after hooking one even when I try to patrol gens after. I get disoriented so easily when they loop around me also. The final gen gets complete with around 5-6 hooks in.
Unless if Im facing against newer survivors or get lucky all of my matches are like this and I dont know why. Sometimes I feel like I have to proxy camp or tunnel just to even stand a chance.
So what do I do? I know I need to git gud but how?
1. Play as Doc, then when you lose a survivor at a loop you can static blast to find them again. Seriously helpful.
2. Remember the wise words of Jake the Dog. "Sucking at something is the first step to getting kinda good at something"

From what a mod told me here once I would say that this is fine. A killer can choose to spare a life for what ever reason they want. Teaming would be when one survivor shows the location of another survivor and gets to escape as a reward. Stuff like that is generally counter as teaming and is forbidden

I don't think I fully understood just how easy it is for people playing survivor to sabotage their teammates. Seriously, the amount of times I'm on death hook and see a teammate run towards me with the killer in tow to avoid being hooked for the first time, it's insane. I dunno. I find hag to be almost stupidly easy, crouch through the traps, flashy flashy the one in front of the hook, and you're good to go.
As far as basement and trickster, while his ranged potential is threatening, I don't think he's that much more difficult than any other killer. Honestly I'd say huntress would be the harder killer to save from, as she only needs to land two hatchets, rather than 12.

If the forum was some "killer hive mind" as claimed by the op and others, surely one person of these killer players, who I have been assured are all just interested in a 4k, despite how fair it would be, would agree with a change that would help achieve that? (And yes, tongue in cheek is a phrase to indicate I was not serious about the suggestion, and was in fact half drunk trying to have a bit of fun while I waited for my plane)
