"they are minority so their opinion doesn't matter" is worst thing you can tell.
That's a fun spin on what I said. Interesting to turn "it's about half a dozen people on the forums who like making the same thread" into some sort of "they don't matter" nonsense.
I'm not saying that anyone's opinion doesn't matter. What I am saying is that it has to be looked at logically and weighed against the actual available data.
The OP claimed that "everyone" hates noed. My reply was primarily to point out that just isn't true. There are a lot of noed threads, but they are made by the same 6 people making the same 6 threads repeatedly, which should be taken into account when trying to find if "everyone" has a strong opinion one way or another.
-
Probably because they've noticed, as have I, that the repeated complaints tend to come from the same small group of people. Sure, there's a new thread every day, but that's not overly difficult or impressive when you realize it's the same half dozen or so people just making the same thread multiple times per week/month.
Or because despite the complaints, noed likely just doesn't effect kill rates enough to worry about. If X killer with noed gets a 53% kill rate, and without gets a 52% (for example) then it's just not enough to bother.
-
I think it would be better to return it to 100% and make it limited use. Like you only get to boon 3 totems. That way you have to think about placement and make each one count. Also it gives killers a reason to kill the boon rather than just tunnel out the booner.

It's not the losing that bothers me, it's a killer essentially ruining the game for a player(s) by taking them out of the game at the start and essentially wasting that persons time. Game are supposed to be fun aren't they?
"Tunneling" or focusing on one opponent, happens in all team based pvp games. In most you target the healer or support and try your best to keep their game experience to running back repeatedly from their spawn point, just to catch another bullet. In DbD you generally want to pick either the one with boon: CoH (as killing the survivor is the only actual counter) the worst looper, or just whoever keeps going for saves. All depends on the situation.
The complaints about tunneling however, I've only ever seen here. Every other team based multiplayer game I've ever played (and I started on Quake, back when windows 95 was hot #########) people understand that sometimes, you get unlucky and die first. Only here do people feel so entitled that they honestly claim it ruins their fun to die, in a game about being killed.

If they did a fnaf chapter Vanny would be a legendary skin for Ghostface , Legion or Myers
also Scott is not a bigot I generally don't understand why people still use this as a argument I think its mostly just people who are misinformed or let Emotion get in the way of reason plus this has been debunked and Scott clarified is reasons for voting for those Canadettes Scott has only donated 40,000 dollars to the Anti Lqbtq+ politicians but 1000,260 dollars to pro Lqbtq+ groups Fnaf fan game devs and a Panda sanctuary
Damn also I'm glad you were Unbiased unlike way too many folks in this page
It's already been pointed out, but donating to the Trevor project, as important as it is, doesn't have the same effect on a country full of LGBTQIA+ people as donating to a politician who passes laws targeting them.
At best, Scott is willing to let people who aren't cis and straight get their rights trampled on as long as he pays less in taxes. At best. Given the politicians he supports only have 3 policy goals, and 2 of those are about screwing over marginalized groups, that's just the reality of the situation. I appreciate the charitable contributions he's made, but no amount justifies later supporting a man who literally kicked all trans people out of the military for no reason.

Correction: you can NOT see the aura of the unhooked. However, if the unhooked starts healing them, you will know where the unhooked person is.
You also can if you have Nurse's calling

The idea that it helps with tunneling by showing you the unhooked survivor doesn't hold up. I mean, If you are tunneling someone then you know where you hooked them, you don't need a perk for that.

If Dead Hard just gives survivors a free third health state, why don't we just change it to that instead.
Basically let's give it a permanent Mettle of Man effect.
That's how we balance things by your logic.
No no no.
The issue killer mains have with dead hard is that it "gives the survivor free distance that can't be countered for no skill" so we'd have to make it activate automatically and teleport the survivor to the other side of the map. That would keep the same logic I am employing to amuse myself today.
-
I'm not a FNAF fan by any stretch. I tried to play the first game and literally fell asleep. Tried the newest one, which was definitely more fun as you actually get to move around and hide and kill animatronics, but it's a buggy mess that makes DbD look practically pristine by comparison.
I do want a FNAF chapter in DbD however, for a few reasons.
1. The property fits. People can claim all they want that it's not "scary" or it's "for kids". However we have stranger things already (or did). Of the 5 nephews and nieces I have under 12 years old, none of them care for FNAF. 3 had "Upside Down" parties for their birthdays. (Funny story there, my youngest sister used real paint on her walls for the lights, so it's still there 2 years later) so that seems much more the "for kids" property of the two. The story is basically the angry spirits of killed kids haunting the suits their dead bodies were shoved in killing everyone. Add in the entity and that's basically Rin's origin. The primary antagonist is an undead serial killer who's body is held together by a disgusting and torn up/burned animatronic bunny suit. That's creepy.
2. I want a pizza place map. Ever since I was about 16, playing laser tag in an abandoned chuck e cheese and volunteering at RPHH, I knew the two would fit (actually tried to get rocky point to consider making the abandoned CC a new haunted house)
3. New killer = new perks! More variety! Even if I end up not liking playing as the new killer or survivor, the new perks may be fun. I know that's an optimistic view a lot of people don't have, but at the end of the day I'm for anything that expands the variety and could break up the pattern of my survivor matches always being against the same 3 killers.
Now, as far as the arguments against.
1. "It will lead to furries infesting us!" - Will it though? For one, furries are already literally everywhere, because wanting to dress up like a dog or whatever doesn't mean they don't have any other interests, and for two, who cares about furries? I've seen this argument A ton of times, but like, what's the worst they are going to do? Bad fanart? Google rule 34 Leatherface sometime, we've already hit the bottom of that particular barrel. I've seen some spirit and huntress stuff that just describing here would probably get me perm banned from the forum. So this seems like worrying that you left the sink on when your town is being flooded by a hurricane.
2. "FNAF is just jump scares" - yup, and all the first TCM was is jump scares and bad metaphors to the cattle industry. #########, Michaels perfected the jump scare. This argument is usually brought up to suggest that the gameplay wouldn't fit, but that doesn't matter because nobody is trying to bring in gameplay. They just want the characters. Bringing in PHead didn't add any silent hill mechanics to the game. Why would bringing in Springtrap add FNAF mechanics to the game? Answer, it wouldn't.
3. "The creator hates the LGBTQIA+ community". - this one is harder to argue against. I am firmly of the type who believes that while free speech is important and should exist fully, there are consequences for your actions, and sometimes the consequence is that everyone thinks you suck and don't want to give you money anymore. I do wonder if he owns Vanny, the killer in the new game, as I understand it, he didn't make the new one, so his rights may not extend to the new characters introduced with it. Other than that? You gotta follow your own conscience. If they did a chapter and nobody bought it, it would be a hell of a way to tell Scott to go f his bigot ass.

I was told by these forums it grants "free kills", but I was horrified to learn that when all the gens were done the Survivors were just exposed. Not one person dropped dead. I felt so lied to by these forums.

but each to their own
Horror icon with almost 40 years of consistent lore? Yeah, he's probably too good to include with the killers from franchises that can't decide if their characters died or not between movies, not to mention bubba/jeb/Dave/whatever the hell his name and backstory is this movie.
But unless they're just going to make a child's play game (which would rock) I guess we're stuck with this.

Yes. Especially if it was a child's play crossover. Voodoo vs remnant tech. Crazed serial killer trapped in a doll vs crazed serial killer trapped in an animatronic. Andy vs Gregory.
-
Nah, it's still got at least one more hook state.

1. A lot of the new and reworked killer perks are designed to try and keep the killer from camping, by giving info on where survivors are, the new killer is also built to try and move away from camping, by being a teleporting type who makes going for the sneaky hits fun again.
2. Don't forget kindred. Best anti-camping perk in the game by far. Also WGLF definitely doesn't hurt. I think a lot of people tend to overlook them because they aren't perks that stun the killer or provide a health state, but I'd argue that 99% of this game is about information advantage.

Survivors are still able to pick up and use items while they are "carrying" the tape, so no, I don't think the game treats it as an item that can be removed. More like a temp status effect.

MMR should answer you how that baby hag got two hooks at once.
So the mmr just matched you with a killer who was way too good for your team? I gotta admit, I appreciate the honesty. Most people here seem to pretend like they are the best players ever. That would put us at option B. And yeah, facing someone with that big a skill gap and the advantage of having 2 hooked at once? No real chance of winning, no wonder they decided to go nuts with the traps.

"Disregarded the crybaby parts" - you literally disgmregarded the "crybaby part" that was me seaying going crouched WAS MY INTENTION. However, as the Hag got very close, keeping on crouching would just get me killed .
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2811757#Comment_2811757
About the camera swing: the hag obviously placed those traps all over the place, therefore each one switched my camera when activated, making it impossible for me to look where I wanted.
I read that, I was responding directly to where you contradicted yourself later claiming that since nobody had brought a flashlight there was no way for you to deal with hag's traps. There is a way, you just clearly either failed to implement it, are not sure how, or just feel like whining about a c level killer regardless.
Fact is, the camera spin is an intended and necessary part of her kit. If there were that many traps around a single hook then there should have been none anywhere else, meaning no gen pressure.
Of course that's ignoring the elephant in the room, being, If you were playing against the sort of baby hag that sets 5 traps per hook, how y'all managed to get two survivors hooked at the same time. Honestly the whole thing just reads as a skill issue disguised as complaining about a game mechanic you don't seem to understand the need for, despite it being explained to you multiple times.
So either A. There just weren't as many traps as you claim. Or B. Y'all were losing regardless so badly that the killer you were playing against stopped really even trying.

🤡🤡🤡 Is it just me, or is it ANOTHER person that replies without even reading the ORIGINAL POST?

One of the most bullshit things this forum does is tell people how to counter something by bringing something pre game. I would like to remind you I can't see the killer pre game to bring a flashlight, I can't see if the killer has noed pregame to bring a perk just for it, I can't see if the survivor has x perk before to counter it etc.
No one had a flashlight. How do you counter hag, by wandering around in hopes of finding a flashlight in a chest?
Hag has much better counters, but this is not what the thread is about. There was no counter for the 5 traps under 2 hooked people. I was getting down eitherway.
You crouch walk so you don't set off her traps until you decide to.

Soooo, I did bring the map with DH. Game went horribly wrong, everyone was downed by 5 gens left, however somehow we were only on death hook by 3 gens remaining. We got into end game, I cleansed 4 totems by myself, the only one who wasn't cleansed was NOED. I sneaked there, close to the gate, killer camping it. I did the totem and got out.
2k 2 escapes. Not bad. 10/10 will do it again.
Another thing that will help, next time they do something like the Halloween event, where they have items that spawn for you to smash for points, note where they spawn. BHVR tends to use the totem spawn points for those special items, so it's a good way to learn the spawn points on each map. Realistically every map only had about a dozen possible totem spawn points, so learning them to the point where you don't need any perk or item is absolutely doable.

People always say how NOED isn't a problem, it's fair etc. How come such a fair perk always gets complained about?
As a test, I equiped DH and a map. I am curious to see if it will be worth it for the POSSIBLE noed.
I think the reason it's so complained about is because it's something that exists in DbD, where everything is complained about. People complain about bbq and camping, they complain about tunneling and killers who don't chase. They complain about flashlights and lightborn. I could go on.

Seriously, this is a genuine question, I know the stereotype that Russian, German, Irish drink alot. But can I ask how many bottle of beer your people drink average per night?
Because both my father & brother has 5 of them every night, or my cousin has 1 liter of 45% alcohol. And they all can work normally the next morning.
To quote the great Tommy Tiernan.
"I can't put a number on something like that, a small child's worth of beer I guess."
Seriously though, my gran can kill a liter of whiskey and be up at 4am baking cookies like she'd slept a full night after bible study.
-
Afaik we don't have any proper Irish or Russian survivors, so all of them. I'm sure a few "go hard" as the kids say, however there is nothing like the bloodline of two separate alcoholic countries where people would drink to distract from how cold/hungry they were, being mixed into the same 300lb man. Add to that a good 20 years real world experience, and frankly I have yet to find someone in real life who can handle their liquor better, with the sole exception of my grandma.
-
I love combining red herring and blast mine. Got a few saves off it, and it always makes me laugh.
Also distraction, and that Elodie perk that makes it so you can pop a closet as you run by. I think there's a pattern here.
Killer I love Nurse's calling (obviously) tinkerer (especially on doc, nobody ever expects a quiet doc) and if course Devour Hope. Nothing is as fun as killer as having a fully stacked devour in play.

I mean it has been bleeding lots of players last time I checked and for a multiplayer game it lives or dies on its fanbase
The amount of players has gone down since last October, but that always happens. This is a rather seasonal mp game. That's why I tend to take a longer view, like you would for wrestling ppv trends. So year to year. Last February there were 3k less players than this (on steam alone, as they are the only ones who consistently publish the numbers) , so therefore while there are some seasonal drops, I would say on the whole the game seems to be keeping a consistent amount of players.
The other data point that would help is average age of account (i.e. how long has an active player been playing) to see if DbD is keeping players or merely recruiting new ones at a higher rate than are leaving. My guess would be a bit of both. .
Either way I would say the reports of DbD's demise are rather overstated.

Yeah maybe i should switch to the killer role that takes zero skill to play.
Sure. Go play killer. Honestly I don't understand why you'd buy this game and only play half of it. It's not like bhvr will give you a refund for half your purchase if you only play killer or survivor. If you think it takes 0 skill, then you should be all set.
Or just learn what team spirit and teamwork are, but then, if you didn't pick up those lessons in school you may never learn.
-
The issue that comes up whenever one of these "if the killer is within x distance of hook" ideas, is that the survivors not on hook end up abusing the mechanics.
How? Basically they refuse to save, and instead every time they are in a chase once someone has been hooked, they run to and around that hook to use as a "safe" zone. Not only is that annoying for the killer player, being dragged into a lose/lose situation. It's worse for the poor schlub on the hook, watching people play ring around the Rosie while they bleed out with the sure knowledge that their team has no plans to actually rescue them.
So if the idea here is to help your son have a better time playing? I'm not sure that's the answer no matter what side he plays.

In this type of situations, only one smart surv isnt enough. Other survs have to be smart as well
Then they are in the situation that they have created for themselves. If you don't like your chances of winning being tied to the performance and intelligence of your team, maybe team based multiplayer games aren't for you.

@Brokenbones said:
I haven't read all pages up so if someone has said something similar to this, forgive me
The problem isn't that NOED itself is unfair, it's a strong effect that by design and stated by the devs themselves is to help the killer when they are at their weakest point (When survivors can escape). It's purpose in the game is to give many killers much needed lethality at a time when they need it the most
The issues with NOED stem from a few things:
Totem RNG - Most of the time this isn't a problem but NOED can create situations where a survivor is just straight up unsaveable. E.G totem right next to the hook or exit gate. Not the killer's fault, but the games
How it scales with killers - NOED on trapper or wraith is one thing, NOED on Nurse is a completely different thing.
And probably the main one: The fact that you can intentionally play badly and still use it. You know what I'm talking about - Facecamping bubbas and the like.
I suppose if we're to use MMR logic, if a facecamping bubba gets 2k bc of facecamping/noed then I guess it was a skillful play right? Well if a bubba is facecamping someone to death, everyone needs to gens. What can they not do if they're having to rush gens due to the killers playstyle? Totems. So what's the counterplay to NOED there?
I think this about sums up why I think NOED can be unfair sometimes, but not all the time.
If bubba is getting more than 2k by facecamping and noed, he'll move up in the mmr until he faces teams that easily know how to beat both.

Edit: also... Almo, the same dev that said that Object is not a terribly effective perk?
That's just not true. I just haven't accepted the Bs you personally have said. My comments in this thread alone show that I am more than willing to consider actual reasons.
And that really doesn't explain why you feel that streamers of a game are authorities that must be listened to, yet the people who actually made the game can be dismissed out of hand. That has nothing to do with me.

They are experts on the subject not you. You can't put they expertise aside for no good reason. It doesn't work this way. When you want to know if someone is responsible or have a mental illness you ask a psychiatrist... not the local bookseller.
Ok, so then why earlier did you completely refuse to accept the developers (Amos in particular) and say they are mistaken? Are the ones who made the actual game and keep it going not considered "experts" to you? After all, using your own analogy they would have been the ones who went to school and studied the brain, while otz and the like are more the "self help" gurus you find on YouTube, who while very enthusiastic, are not formally trained.

Then you probably played against inexperienced killers. Or the solo teams you were playing with were good (which is very rare.. but whatever)
So then, you must also find Ruin, Devour, Thrill of the hunt, and literally every other hex perk just as overpowered, as you have now twice confirmed that you find it too difficult for a solo survivor to remove a Single Lit Totem. Also, you should probably try out Detective's Hunch, as that will teach you what a totem looks like. Because honestly if you can't do a single one, that's a game knowledge/skill issue.

But, continue to deny all validity from the other side. Continue to pretend that there is no valid reason to think that noed is unhealthy and unfair.
Provide an actual reason, not "these guys say it is". So far that and "it feels bad to me no matter what any data says" are the only "reasons" you have brought forth and no, neither of which is particularly valid.
