This is all the problem though, its too easy to play well in match as survivor. I like playing survivor, but it should feel like when that heartbeat fades in i need to run for my life, not stand at this totally safe pallet
You're not even supposed to sit at safe pallets, so I think you have some more growth to do lol
It's easy for Survivors to rank up, but if even one of Survivors suck the whole team will be feeling it.
It's only natural to not be scared of a horror game after playing it for 100's or 1000's of hours.
-
Survivors that shame the Killer for killing them are just as dumb as the Killers that shame the Survivors for outplaying them. Just ignore and move on.

That can get cleansed, cause it would probably retain it's hex status.
Eh. I don't want something that only punishes low-ranks based on a Hex (like old Ruin) in the game ever again tbh.

I manage to play maybe 15 hours per week, thats playing both sides.
That's all it really takes, especially since you only get reset to purple now.

That's true, but it's not necessary to play well as survivor, where as if you don't have one of the dlc slowdown perks, you pretty much can't play consistently well at high ranks as killer.
It's harder, but still doable under most circumstances. Also depends on the Killer you pick.

But how's that the killers fault? If we were to balance the game in the way you guys want, the killer would just be bad against solo ques AND SWF. If solo is basically fine outside of the random factor of having 1-2 bad teammates, what exactly is the expectation here?
But furthermore, if you pip and take a death, that's absolutely fine and by design. It's not exactly comparable to times when a killer can lose because they got Ormond or because they didn't happen to have or bring a specific dlc perk. Didn't by the LF dlc? Good luck without BBQ and chilli keeping up with demand for bp and useful notification. Didn't buy clown? LMAO jUsT PrEsSuRe gEnS
Meanwhile all meta perks for survivor are free. That's why certain killers need buffs.
Gotta pay for the big bad Decisive Strike that everyone seems to complain about.

I hate SWF groups purely because voice chat is way to over powered to be used in this game, but it can't be taken off the groups.
Instead, SWF should be nerfed so they're not so powerful. I know an update is coming out, but i'm talking about a proper nerf. Extra gen speeds per SWF member, extra totems on the map, only one playable character at any one time, only one perk to be used by each member and not multiple perks that're the same, slow their running speed down by a %, don't let the SWF take all the same tools in the game so tool boxes etc, buff the killer vaulting/pallet breaking by a % for each SWF in the lobby.
My stance is that killer should be brought up on the same level as a survivor.
Example of what I mean. Earlier I killed 2 people, hooked the 3rd person, the 4th didn't come and save the 3rd, instead the 3rd person on the hook killed them self on the hook on purpose, and the 4th person with in like 5 seconds escaped through the hatch. SWF using communications to win the game a game.
Nerfing friends for wanting to play with their other friends isn't the way to go. Only 2% (if that) of SWFs are the god-tier SWF's that all killers should fear. The other 98% just talk to their friend about their day while holding M1 on a generator or while they urban evade around the map to self care in the corner.
Nerfing those guys isn't warranted.

Some of the killers are becoming less fun. Not because they’re stronger but their mechanics are just less fun in general.
Case in point I see more hook suicides against Legion than any other killer.
Are you proposing people don't like to hold M1 and have games last forever or something?

DC penalty would be fair if I didn't get penalized for the game crashing. I've never clicked the leave match button or had an internet outage, yet I've gotten DC penalties.

Actually, now that you mention it, I didn't really consider end game scenarios. There would obviously have to be an exemption for the last remaining survivor being hooked since that goes straight to the sacrifice. As for all other survivors downed, that's definitely a valid time to escape the hook. And while you could just struggle to avoid going into sacrifice, this is the time I could see missing the spacebar to be a real problem. Yeah, now I think about it, a number of exemptions would have to be put into place for scenarios like this
Thanks for being somebody who actually uses logic and reason to point out the flaws in this idea unlike some of the other people in this thread who just blindly ranted for purely self centered reasons.
Surface-level thinking strikes again. Gg.

Rank does mean something though. You dont rank up by playing badly. Its just easy to do as survivor. Im the first one to hold my hands up and say I dont think im good enough to be rank 1 surv, however im there season after season easily. It should be harder
That's exactly the problem, you can rank up from playing badly. Rank represents how much time you wasted on the game that month, not how good you are at the game.
It is easier for Survivors to do it, and it's easier for certain killers too (Legion being able to hit people multiple times very quickly for example). But that doesn't mean they're all good at the game.
That being said, it's also more difficult for killers like Plague or Hillbilly who primarily one shot (counting as one chase, getting basically no chaser emblem for winning too quick).

People will eventually run out of ways to screw over their team if you keep punishing them for it. Considering your follow up to this would be walking up to the killer, you're already buying time for your team even if you're not smart enough to realize it. Especially since running up to the killer after getting off the hook pretty much screams DS. And the very fact that you're incapable of seeing how incredibly self-centered and selfish it is to ruin the game for your teammates cause things aren't going your way is proof that you're definitely not being rational.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1208531#Comment_1208531
A) In this scenario, you're the complete #########. Ruining the game for your teammates because the killer didn't play how you demand that they play is a giant ######### move. B) In this scenario, you didn't suicide on the hook. It takes 60 seconds under normal circumstances to get from first stage to second stage on the hook. The suggested anti suicide penalty wouldn't kick in because if you understand math, 60 seconds is longer than 20 seconds. And again, accidentally missing spacebar would only cause this penalty if you also "accidentally" tried to escape from the hook enough times and accidentally missed spacebar both in under 20 seconds.
Edit: ironically, the singular of a certain word is censored while the plural of the same word that was used in the quoted post isn't. Or maybe it was the comma that fooled the censor.
I never said it wasn't selfish or self-centered to suicide on hook, I said it was pointless to try and stop it. You are aware that I would ideally like to play the game with 4 survivors and a killer, right?
People who DC'd originally or kill themselves on hook now were willing to suffer getting basically no points or no points at all. Slapping a BP penalty on it will do nothing. If someone wants out, they will find a way to get out.
Also, sure, you buy some time for your teammates by just walking up and going down, but if the killer thinks it's actually DS, then he'll leave them on the ground, prompting someone else to go get them up (losing out on gen time), so that time is gained back.
Once again, you only look at it from a surface-level. I am still being rational, and I'd really appreciate it if you stopped lobbing accusations at me for being "self-centered". At the end of the day, I want what's best for the game. Not for survivors, not for killers, the game as a whole. This idea is not good in my opinion, it's a waste of time and resources.
-
@qquestion said:
I just get in a match and run around looking for the killer and non stop run, then suicide on hook.
Reason being; if I’m playing with teammates that unhook and all, I have a rank 5 - 1 killer and can’t do a thing. Or if it’s a killer around my rank, no one seem to want to rescue or they try to rescue while the killer is there, making the killer stay at my hook.
me not relying on being saved throws a lot of “why won’t anybody unhook me” or “somebody just got downed, come unhook me” (say it to myself) and it’s more fun.
When will good match making come?
When people stop doing dumb #########. So never.

It's never going to be like that, the devs can't even figure out how to properly rank and score the game just to separate the cro magnons from the players who have a modicum of sentience. The devs are also extremely reluctant to change the game in meaningful ways. I hope the new changes to maps helps push the game in the right direction, but considering the outcry of people whining about how survivors are going to be more challenging to play, I dunno. When you got 80% of your playerbase whining about how they can't watch netflix and play the game at the same time, as a company you have to listen to that as that really effects your bottom line.
It can be like that, it just depends on who you get in your lobby. I've had beautiful solo games with flashlight/pallet saves, everyone getting out, etc. I've had solo games that end in 1 minute.
Also, if you don't understand why some Survivors are complaining about the map changes, you haven't taken a good look at the maps yourselves. Maps in the PTB have basically become giant dead zones.

The people that play with the mindset you promote (roughly summarized "don't care about my teammates, don't care about playing well, because as long as I pipped I won") are exactly why others like me find solo queue so frustrating and unbearable. I'm thinking all the time and it's very obvious when others don't.
Pretty much everything @rha said as well. Beautiful explanation.

Doesnt mean anything in high ranks, killer skill is irrelevant. 3 survs can do gens and survive easily. I SHOULD NOT be able to run a killer for 3 gens. Its crazy? I know I sound like a dick and i apologise but i dont understand how people think killers are OP?
Why do you think high ranks means something? I play games thinking my teammates are brown ranks just to find out that they're actually rank 2. The developers themselves have stated that rank does not accurately measure skill at the current moment. It's too easy to rank up on Survivor and some killers.

Let's not kid ourselves into thinking it's easy.
An early throw can seal the deal for any competent killer.

well, you can just do a gen, unhook someone, get chased by the killer, die, get your pip and your 10k points and go onto the next game all within the span of 4 or 5 minutes. You have plenty of options as a survivor if the game isn't going your way.
I really cannot stress enough how simple this game is as even a solo survivor. In fact it just increases the difficulty enough that if you want to personally challenge yourself you can, but you don't have to if you don't want to, you can still pull through with a decent survival rate even if you do barely anything, that's part of why you get so many dumb survivors, even at rank 1, because it's so simple to rank up and survive as a survivor. You don't need to think as a survivor, you don't need to try to reach the upper echelons of the game.
Sure, it's easy to just go through a mindless game play loop of farming some teammates, touching maybe one or two generators and wasting every pallet on the map for chase points just to barely pip with minimal points and screw all your teammates.
That's not what I play the game for though. If that's all I did, I would've quit a long time ago. DbD has the potential to be much more than that, and a lot of that potential rests on you and your teammates.

@ZaKzan said:

not at all, if you are the last survivor the hatch opens up for you. You really don't need to do anything in this game if you're a survivor. You can just play as super safe as you want and then take hatch if your team mates are dumb. Just run DH, DS, Iron Will, and BT so you can farm points. Devastating build that is invulnerable to anything the killer can do to you. You can even use your team mates as meat shields.
Okay, now imagine your teammate in solo queue is doing that.

Solo survivor's challenge is based on if BHVR gave you competent teammates or not.
We're back to this. Now you have a selfish teammate farming and waiting for hatch, not progressing the objective.
The difficulty of the match has once again been set by BHVR sending you into the trial with incompetent teammates. We've gone full circle. The solution to people doing stupid stuff shouldn't be to do even stupider stuff.

are the kind of problem players who intentionally suicide on the hook when they don't like something in the game cause they're not grown up enough to put their teammates ahead of their own self centered childish behavior. Had they actually given a reason they didn't like the idea, it would mean they're actually thinking. But just posting "No" means they're too self centered to accept any idea that doesn't cater to their selfish ideas instead of having a valid reason.
Take away DC's, players will suicide on hook. Take away the ability to suicide on hook, players will just walk up to the killer and let themselves die. If someone is not enjoying the game, they will find a way to get out of the game. The reason we post "No" is because this point should be painfully obvious, but it's clear you haven't thought of this beyond the surface level.
I'm not selfish or self-centered, I'm rational. Sorry to disappoint you.

It's common sense that the first thing that pops into your mind coming from a Canadian MMO horror game about a 4v1 when you see some lines in a tome is a Nazi Symbol? That's what you call common sense? I could understanding pointing it out as a joke or saying "Hey, that almost looks like a Swastika/Asian symbol", but posting it and recommending to the Devs it needs to be changed because "it might send the wrong message"? You need to grow up bud. OP I'm sure was just jokingly mentioning it. But it seems you're the one who would've actually ranted about it had you actually caught it.

If you're not going to explain to me how that doesn't work, then maybe you shouldn't voice your opinion on it. Also the comment was sarcastic since someone really wanted to post about the vague semblance of a tome web line.
Calling someone racist for seeing a similarity in something within something else is honestly just pathetic (and if it was a joke, it was a pretty bad joke). I can say it somewhat resembles a swastika without being racist. It's so common sense that I'm honestly surprised I had to explain this to you. Grow up.

My guess: Dead hard doesn't gain invincibility on its first frame of animation, maybe a few after it starts. In normal play, the liklihood of activating it during those frames was very low, however with the way that the dedicated servers work with registering input, it could cause that gap to happen a lot more often (which would be when dead hard not only doesnt happen, but you still get exhausted)
Either that, or its a bad verification check on the usage of the perk. If it were a two part step boolean response (Is player invulnerable and Is player Exhausted being two separate checks that happen simultaneously) it could be that they're not happening in tandem (if the exhaust check was slightly earlier than the activation check, then you could become exhausted before the dead hard invincibility actually starts, and rollback causes the animation to give a false positive of the beginning of the animation.) There could be other things that could cause it as well, but the long and short is that its a bug thats persisted for quite a while now.
Without knowing for sure how the code works, I can only speculate. But it is something that really should be addressed. Its bad enough when it doesnt go off, but going into exhaustion as well is just twisting the knife.
And it was even worse when they (knowing the perk doesn't function) made the tome challenge to dodge hits with dead hard lmao
