moris, while not being perfectly balanced, are a lot more fair than keys imo.
you get a warning the killer runs one, you can play around it, they gut the killers emblems and they are guaranteed to be gone after the game, weather tey got used or not.
keys on the other hand can be taken in by one out of the four survivors and still change the entire flow of the game. it doesnt really matter what you do as a killer, if you kill survivors the hatch will spawn and someone with the key will just jump in (even if you kill the key dude, they usually just swarm the hook then to get the key) and allow themselves and possibly even more survivors to leave early. if you however dont kill them, gens will be getting done and they have the exits available. its literally a lose - lose situation. you cant really play around it eigther, since survivors playermodels tend to hide keys behind their backs in the menu, so you cant even prepare for it properly (especially with a last second switch) and its just annoying to face.
at least moris have an requirement for you to complete before you can use them. keys are just "hey, your team died and you did nothing all game but happened to bring in a certain item? well, you clearly deserved to be handed out this easy escape! :D"
keys are only really broken on SWF tho. especially if one brings a rainbowmap, they are coordinated on gens and can coordinate their hatch escape, so they get the maximum amount of escapees from it.
here is how i would fix keys:
- add an animation to opening the hatch that can be interrupted by the killer
- only allow the key user to escape
- remove / rework the dull key. it is way too strong for an very rare item.
Are you high?

I doubt it would be a simple flip of the switch to revert them to before dedicated servers. We're in it for the long haul at this point.

Its pretty much how I feel. I don't have tons of time playing due to work.I'm lucky If I can play for a hour daily. Give or take with how bad lobby time can take. Then the grind makes it not worth it. Not to take up all my time just to do one challenge at a time. I wish if they was gonna copy the typical battle pass that they would a just had a list of challenges that u could just do naturally. But this whole grind one at a time stuffgets lame.

That's why i never AFK as survivors (not saying that i AFK before as killer)
AFK as survivor is worse than dc rightaway IMO
If you do it (as killer) and occasionally sprinkle in real games you're probably fine but legally I have to say I am joking and that I don't encourage it. /s
-
Or just run kindred as a solo survivor. It helps your team out a lot more than you'd think.

He seems pretty strong when in the right hands. I'd say a little higher than mid tier.
His lunge hitbox is also kinda broken. Can't interrupt him with a pallet the same way you do with a Billy, he hits you anyways despite not visually doing so lol.

Is AFK as killer bannable?
Probably, but I doubt anybody reports it. Free win and free bloodpoints. AFK reporting seems reserved for AFK survivors who throw the match.

I think the time between tome level 3 and level 4 is 3 weeks, and then the time in which to complete level 4 before the Rift closes is 2 and a half weeks. Makes no sense.
It'd just be so much better if they only had a week between each of the levels going up. That'd still space it out some without forcing players to try to rush through level 4. Yeah, you can complete the challenges whenever once they're up, but the Rift Fragments earned through them only count towards this Rift, so completing them after this Rift closes means you don't get the full benefit.
It was nice to have new stuff to do with the challenges. All this down time between level 1 and 2, just waiting for the next set of challenges... it's so boring.
Not to mention Tome III and IV both release around Thanksgiving and Christmas lol. Lots of people won't even be able to hop on much.
-
Crow one probably took the longest because I forgot I was even doing it after a couple matches. Would've been sweet to just disrupt the crows at the swamp boat and be done instantly lol
-
I've come back to this game after a long break for the Rift and I've been chilling in Red Ranks ever since somehow. Almost every game is at least guarantied a safety pip (as long as there's no ebony mori tunneling, etc). Maybe I'm just that good at the game /s

It's the opposite for me.
The Rift update is giving me lots of DBD Downtime. Since the performance is terrible I feel like playing the game a lot less than I did before the patch.
I been playing a lot more Overwatch and Killing Floor instead. No way I'm getting burned out. I also finished everything I want to do in Level 1 in one day. Since the event is pretty much a non-event there's no real incentive to keep playing, the game is the same and there are no unique mechanics. So there's no need real incentive to play it as much as you can, while you can.
I hit Tier 23 on Day 1 of the patch. I don't feel pressured to play any further on Level 1 when we have 60 days left and 3 more levels to wait for. I am certain I can hit my goals when Level 2, 3 and 4 hit. I only need to reach Tier 43? Or whatever it was that has the last Putrid Serum. It looks extremely doable to me. I don't need to reach Tier 70.
Did you play on the PTB beforehand? Because I've been no-lifing the game and just hit tier 25 today.

Oddly enough I don't have much time waiting for lobbies as Killer. Usually I get one every 1-3 minutes.
Must be nice. I get like 20 minute queues. Not even worth it at that point.
-
@DeKillerKiller said:
I'm already feeling it, sometimes I just leave the game open in the background and not play it while I contemplate whether or not I want to play a match.
Killer queue times give you plenty of time to do that ;)

@HatCreature said:
I feel the opposite, I finished my Archives and I want more challenges lol
The Rift though which I don't think you're talking about though is burning me out. I hate the grind for unlocking Perks on Killers and seeing 70 damn Tiers that take over an hour to complete each one is very daunting. I unlocked my first full outfit with Serum last night and maybe tonight I'll go up 1 more Tier. The Archive challenges from Tome 2 will help but we've all seen Tome 4 and that's not happening, grinding for the Rift is too much in my opinion.
But then again we won't know until Tome 2-4 come out, maybe someone will complete the entire damn Rift before they all come out. I am curious to see how far I can get in the Rift before Tome 2 comes but I know that real progress only comes from that so maybe not far.
I hate the grind, I took a 2 day break from this game a little while ago and that's not a good sign when you have rewards locked behind a grind that's time constricted.
6 months before everything goes into the store btw
Yeah I meant the Rift, not the Archives. I'm all for more challenges, I really enjoyed having to complete them. However, I do not enjoy slowly inching my way up the tiers with 8000 XP each.

Good that they weren't smart enough and didn't put anything interesting in it. I don't play as killer anymore, survivor cosmetics are meh and only for few ones. Charms? Lel no thanks.
The main thing for a lot of people is how the putrid serum has been integrated in there, forcing you to grind if you really want any of the Halloween cosmetics (let alone all of them).
-
@Boss said:
Nah, i've had a burnout before, and this addition is having the opposite effect on me. ?
The addition initially had the opposite effect on me when there were still challenges to do. Now all I do is grind 8000 XP per tier to make sure I actually end up completing the Rift.
-
@Doultime said:
Then dont bother with the rift if you are not having fun with it.
Performance being irrelevant means you dont need to be a meta slave and you can play however the frick you want.
Getting burnout its only going to bother you, I too want to complete the rift but its not on my mind at all on the trial except its a challenge.
Do you main survivor or killer?
I main survivor but also play killer when I feel like it (the queue times are definitely not making me want to though).
The rift (when there's no challenges to be done) blows but there are a few things in there that I actually want so I must unfortunately slave away at the grind of predatory game design.

Im with you. OP just play as you did before the rift of course you are going to burnout if your only goal its to min/max
Have fun!
The way I used to play Dead by Daylight (aka playing a reasonable amount of hours) wouldn't be sufficient enough to unlock the entire Rift, so that isn't really an option. I would have significantly more fun if the way I performed impacted my XP gain (making emblems actually worth XP, etc). As it is now, all that matters is the match goes on for long enough but not too long as to waste time, performance is irrelevant.
-
@TragicSolitude said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/816151#Comment_816151
Yeah, I'd have to max the entire Rift. Because if I buy it, I want the vial charm at the end. And given how ridiculously simple charms and recolors of cosmetics make up most of what's on the Rift... well, it's starting to look like one of those "grab bags" stores sell for cheap that have maybe a couple nifty things in them but mostly you're paying too much money just for trinkets that'll end up forgotten in a drawer. But at least you usually don't have to devote 4 to 6 hours of your life to earning each separate trinket in said grab bag.
Honestly I couldn't have said it better myself haha. Some of the things in there are pretty neato, but most of it isn't worth the sheer amount of hours that need to be put in.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
It’s not that hard to gain xp and I feel that it gives people something to look forward to while leveling... which is a whole lot better than playing matches without much of a reward.
Well the issue (for me at least) is that you aren't even rewarded for playing well, just for how long the match goes on. If they significantly boosted how much XP an emblem gave you, I'd care way more about how well I did in my matches and actually try to win. The way it's currently set up just has me auto piloting to get the max XP by not dying/ending the game too fast.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
not really I am getting a lot of good teammates , my teammates do the gens very fast since the rift were introduced to the game + I am really enjoying the challenges and the rift but that is just me I don't know about other players
Teammates doing the gens very fast isn't exactly what you want with the Rift though. XP is solely based on how long the match goes on for, not how well you perform. The Archives challenges are great, the grind to get 8000 XP per tier through game play is not.
-
@53nation said:
Nah, I'm the complete casual. I just completed kick 2 gens and now I apparently have to safely rescue two ppl.
Having said that, I too am now planning on neglecting everything besides safely rescuing two people.
My bad, I meant the Rift grind, not the Archives challenges themselves. Aka 8000 XP per tier when you're out of challenges to do.
-
@TragicSolitude said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/816137#Comment_816137
It's in part 'cause you said "Archives" will cause a player-base wide burnout. I know you meant the Rift and the fact that it's 8k XP for each tier on it. But technically "Archives" refers to the challenges.
@TragicSolitude You're right, I did mix those up. Fixed :)
-
@TragicSolitude said:
Yup. I'll hit a couple survivors at the beginning of the match as 'proof of life,' then I go stand at a door and wait for them to finish gens and leave. I've already lost interest in playing the game.
I'm starting to think that I'm going to quit playing altogether once I earn all the serum vials on the Rift. If they bother to do a fun event in the future, I'll come back, but if every future event is like this Halloween one...
I am just so happy I didn't buy the premium battlepass. I'd be really pissed at myself if I had.
Not entirely sure if I will buy it or not, but I'd only make the purchase if I maxed the entire rift first to guarantee getting my money back in Auric Cells.
It really is just an XP grind fest at this point. I feel that a quick fix they could do to SOMEWHAT remedy the mess they've created is significantly boost the XP you receive from emblems, forcing players to actually play the game to complete the rift instead of just match time.
-
@lynelmane said:
I don't think so.. the challenges aren't that hard to complete. sure they will get harder but if you get burnt out, take a break and go back and try again later.
I already finished tome 1 and i'm not burnt out.
I'm not talking about the challenges being difficult. Tome I was especially a joke, I'm talking about after finishing the Tome and only being able to grind further shards with ~500 XP a match (which is solely based on time).
-
A good portion of the meta perks are on killers you can buy with shards, so I wouldn't necessarily call it pay to win. Grind to win?
-
2 weeks from initial release of the tome and then eventually 3 weeks I believe.

But that would be the tiniest of changes. My idea behind this perk change makes it the counter to Adrenaline and the secondary use of DS. So survivors repairing injured are somewhat slowed from getting out for free. And obviously combined with other slow-down perks like Sloppy, it would actually be a nice perk to run. Instead of being a passive throw-away perk for 90% of matches played. And survivors can't destroy the perk either which is always nice lol
I think you misinterpreted what I said. I said make this the effect once ruin is cleansed aka add this on TOP of already existing ruin.

I actually play DBD on the ultra graphic settings. Does low setting actually improve visuals when looking for survivors?
Unless they changed it I'm pretty sure you can see a killer's red stain through walls only on low settings so there's a pretty big advantage to keepin em low.
-
Keep it a hex perk (with its current functions) and make this the effect once it's cleansed.

Sorry I don't see Iron Will being necessary. It will make a huge difference, like the perks I mentioned, but you can still play around the Spirit. People act like she's absolutely impossible to beat, yet I main Spirit AND USE STRIDOR and there are still survivors without Iron Will that run me for a good amount of time because they make smart decisions. Decisions like using particular windows, or doing some weird movements to dodge the attack out of phase walk, or dropping pallets early to force me to go around and I end up losing my power before reaching them. It can be done. Iron Will just makes it significantly easier, as all these other perks do for those respective killers.
All that I've gathered from this is you need to work on your Spirit lol

GET THE NERF HAMMER OUT

Yes

@thesuicidefox said:

The thing is, Iron Will is a top tier perk. It was listed as being the 5th most used at red ranks when you guys released that data set a while ago, meaning that if a player chose to play any off-meta perk (Adren/DS/BT/DH) it would most likely be Iron Will.
It would be one thing if Iron Will was a niche perk, but it's a very strong perk that is useful against all killers. Same with Spine Chill. These perks have more uses than just countering one specific killer.
Also what about Calm Spirit? If you want to hard counter Doc's power then you will need Calm Spirit. There is no other way to avoid his power outside of just avoiding any kind of interaction via lockers (which is counter productive to the survivor's goal since they will waste tons of time sitting in a locker doing all of nothing). Yet no one seems to complain about Calm Spirit being needed to counter Doc, probably because Doc is still victim to loops and Calm Spirit is actually a niche perk.
I honestly just don't see the issue. I hate Doc. With a passion. If I had the power I would literally delete him from the game. When I start getting a lot of Doc's I put on Calm Spirit to deal with it. It has other interesting uses outside of countering Doc, but let's face it the main reason to use this perk is to counter Doc. Yet I never complain about needing to do that, particularly because Calm Spirit will CRUSH every Doc not using restraint add-ons. Same with Spirit, Iron Will will crush most of the Spirits you will face, to the point it's basically night and day. So if you want to hard counter this exact killer, put on Iron Will. It's really not that big of a deal, especially since Iron Will is top tier and not niche, you will get benefit from it regardless of the killer (except Plague because it doesn't work when you are sick).
Sorry I just can't buy into this "using a perk to counter a killer is bad" philosophy when the perk in question is top tier, useful against EVERY killer (but particularly useful against the killer people have an issue with), and when there are other instances of perks being used to hard counter killers. Here's a few more
Hag - Urban Evasion
Huntress/Nurse - Dead Hard
Ghostface/Pig/Myers/Wraith - Spine Chill
Trapper/Hag - Small Game
Doc - Calm Spirit
Plague/Legion - Resilience
But no one complains about these, they only complain about using Iron Will on Spirit.
It's pretty simple. Those perks aren't a necessity against those killers as you can still do things. Spirit is Spirit.

These discussions are like people complaining about Mariano Rivera's cutter. If he threw it right, it was essentially unhittable.
If the Yankees had a lead going into the 9th, they were probably gonna win. But you didn't see other teams crying about imbalance.
They took the loss and moved on. And yes the cutter was a skill, but the principle is the same. You can't mori what you can't catch.
Suck it up, everyone. Can't win 'em all.
The main issue with Ebonies is you usually get tunneled after an unhook and get mori'd on the spot. That's not even a game at that point.

The upper limit of SWF is far higher than a killer, given the nurse being nerfed. With four iron will, even spirit would be bully if they were disciplined.

I used to watch the streaming and felt the anger even if I was a survivor main. That Taiwanese even bully me cuz I told him t-bag was very rude.
No, the report button is prepared for those racist SFW teams.
Solo Queue survivors get absolutely pooped on when an Ebony gets used 9 times out of 10. It's not fair as it currently is.
Also, killing someone on their death hook instead of taking them there could be very helpful when dealing with SWF trying to bodyblock for their friend.
