OK, so the issue with DS, is that it wastes the killers time, especially in the hands of someone who is good at looping, secondly, being hit with an Obsession DS, is annoying, but at least you know its coming, being hit by a non-Obsession DS user is just plain infuriating...

So, here is what I would do..

What is DS? Its basically jabbing the killer in the neck with some kind of object, so what if the DS user had to go grab that object from somewhere on the map? What if the aura of the object was shown at the start of the game for like 10 seconds? This would waste that survivors time going to collect it, negating the time wasted by the killer from being hit by it.

What if there are multiple Ds users in the game?

So unless the killer is running an obsession perk, no survivors start off as the obsession, and its basically a race to the object, and once collected that survivor can use DS, for the other survivors running DS, it now becomes an empty perk slot.

If a killer is running an obsession perk, and the non-obsession DS user picks up the object, then they are still subject to the wiggle of 30% or whatever the value is.

A good idea or not? Not sure, just came up with it while I was eating my breakfast.

    Stay safe in the fog!

    "Becomes a empty perk slot"

No perk should give survivors a free escape in the current state of the game. Given how hard an M1 killer has to work to catch a single decent survivor, spitting in their face for finally nabbing them is the worst way to reward them.

I could understand all of these second chance perks if the game was far more lethal to survivors, but as it stands with maps the way they are, it's too much.

My diagnosis for players asking that ds be nerfed

  • NO, dont nerf nurse because if they nerf nurse they will destroy ds.

When it comes to perk reworks, I ask myself: "Is this so good that I would use it?" I'm afraid Bond, Empathy and Aftercare are stronger than what you are suggesting.

The current version of Wake Up combined with the new Leader (that will come in 2 weeks) could be good.

If you want to make this perk stronger, maybe it gives all other survivors haste for 10 seconds, similar to Hope - (not a full-on sprint burst, but about 7% speed increase.) that way they can run quicker to other survivors once they have seen their auras.

    Agree with you!

I suck at catching a looping survivor, I've tried for so long to learn to get better but can't for the life of me figure out how Unless I play spirit or nurse.

Just play trapper or legion with crutch addons :)

I think I have a totally fair idea as to how to nerf Decisive Strike in a totally fair fashion.

All of Laurie Strode’s perks DO NOT create an obsession.

What this means is that Laurie’s Perks are only really good if the killer has an obsession perk, otherwise, even if all 4 survivors run Decisive Strike, none of them get to use it immediately unless the killer is actually running an obsession perk.

Mm, you just want to survivor to lost perk slot, huh? we need to BALANCE, not UNBALANCE more the game than it is right now .. BIG BRAIN

Would you say that Hex perks are unbalanced too for essentially just removing perk slots or will you atleast own the title of hypocrit with a spine?

The only counter to D'S would be a perk that allows a survivor to be replaced on the hook after an escape with a successful skill check.

That is the only thing that is comparable.

DS will never change because devs are scare from the comunnity (survivors) so stop crying about it and accept your defeat by an crutch perk, You must understand that this game is asymmetric and that both parties must have the same power. The survivors share have Ds and the killers share rancor, if the rancor aura reading is bad but for something there is bitter murmur ... Or maybe this is a good idea for a perkthat finally counter ds

You start the match with 4 tokens, (it will depend on how many obsession perks there are in the match) if you fail a hit 1 token is consumed ..

I wouldn't say I was crying, but people do try to compare DS to killer perks like NOED and rancor. These are not analogous because currently, killers do not have any perk that simply allows us to hit a skill check and get a free "do-over".

DS is a passive perk that gives survivors a 2nd chance after being caught. There is literally no downside to taking the perk, other than it takes up a perk slot, which all perks do...so with that logic, all perks have that same "down side". Granted, you may not use DS in a game, but if you are not using it, you are not getting downed.

Therefore, you are probably a pretty good survivor, thus solidifying the notion that DS is, indeed, a crutch for bad survivors. This brings us back to the original point: why are we rewarding bad survivors for getting caught?

Survivors dont have a perk that automatically give them free sprint and a instaheal :)

I just.. Uhhh have to say something...

Tell me one way to effectively counter decisive without the need of perks

Umm, dribbling or let the guy in the ground and bleed out?

Yes, because you will always have a hook right next to you and letting a survivor bleed out is fun for everyone

There's a lot of hooks, it depends of what map are you playing so stop crying or use trapper/doctor and unnerving presence And 99.9% fails the skillcheck that is my build or I just let it use it and already :) to save me doing a rekt at the exit door

Unnerving prescence maybe the worst perk you can run as killer. Its has the problem of giving survivours skill checks which is really bad in red ranks. More skill checks more oppurtunities for greats skill checks which will add additional progression to gens. doc can be good with unnerving dont get me wrong but doc is a crap killer anyways since his anti loop and snowball potential is awful and limited.

Unnerving prescene helps you lose games in dbd. Its the equivalent of running overcharge on freddy. As for hooks the patch changes to hook positions have made non obssesion ds problematic on some of the bigger maps. The game can have hooks only spawn on one floor which is hugely problematic.

Unnerving prescence at base is not enough to stop ds since it is a skill check and hitting greats is practically mandatory in high ranks due to the frequency of ruin.

Only in red ranks.., hooks are better distributed in large maps and small maps. on maps like the game today I only had 2 hooks down and I had to release the survivor and leave him on the ground .. Unnerving presence you already said it in the red range and most people are in yellow / brown ranges so it's just a problem for high ranges, and I've already told you, rancor is the best counter for ds and if the rancor aura reading is very bad but for that this bitter murmur :) all the perks are good in this games some very overpowered others not used because it does not work for your style of play but they are all good for something, you do not want to sacrifice a perk slot, that's your problem.

    JUST BREAK THE PALLET
    Just break 5 totems
Just use enduring/noed/rancor for counter ds..

also stfu because you can't 'git gud' while trying to counter DS. the only way you can 'git gud' is by leaving the survivor w/ DS on the ground, camping them until they bleed out, or juggle them.

You can play normally and eat the stun and simply down them 5-10 seconds later for most survivors and the only ones take longer are the really good ones.

If you honestly think the only way to handle DS is to leave them slugged on the ground or camp them then there's really no hope for teaching you anything.

You can dribble them, you can play smart and time your down for closer to a hook in which case DS goes for naught. There's the old pick them up near the basement and let them wiggle out and drop into the basement trick.

There's the let them use ds but pick them up so thy get dropped in a good spot for you to re down them pretty much instantly trick.

Yes it's an annoying perk but it's a 1 time usage perk and after that that perk slot is wasted and that person's screwed the rest of the game.

These are all nice tricks I have used and found great success however they all require the survivour to make the foolish move of getting downed by a hook and even then if a friend pops out and blocks the hook the ds is going off which kills your momentum as killer. One use is also arguable as if it occurs multiple times via hidden ds targets whom can again body block to ensure it goes off.

If a killer had a perk that gave them 4 tokens that allowed them to instadown in their next attack would that be ok even though its a one time use per token. No it wouldnt. Ds is costing you time no matter what strategy you use in dbd. Its a poorly designed perk that needs to lose its killer grasp escape for empowered stuns or a chase mechanic that allows a killer to meaningfully counter it.

Time is a comodity in dbd ds is often the difference between a killer getting enough time to allow a gen to be completed.

Well, just let's make all survivors spawn in the hook :)

While I'd normally advise against using such builds because they ruin the fun for the killer, here's arguably the most crutch survivor build possible:

    Adrenaline

    So many second chances.

    Noed
    Blood Warden
    Rancor
And sprint burst is not a second chance perk..
    "So many second chaces."

No killer had fun with BNPs or instablinds and the reason the 40 second sprint bullshxt is gone in the first place is because well...for one it made ZERO SENSE to recover from EXHAUSTION while RUNNING now you're asking to bring it back with a perk that would make it even worse are you insane? oh and double pallets still spawn btw

Because you do not watch videos of 2016, the killers have more fun than now, now the community is very toxic ... if it makes sense, to squat? like there is no more nothing to do is removed and the devs are not going to bring back that. Btw where are the double pallets spawn? I have never seen any

Now that killers are finally getting attention and you're seeing less shxtty montages NOW the community is "toxic" where was this attitude when killers were getting nerfed every patch?

Well nothing else I say something, if we continue with that attitude of "the survivors must be nerfed, "The killers have to be nerfed" the game will die because of the community just tell you that, reflect and do not make excuses because there that you progress and be in the present not in the past -_-

  • The point is that vigil is useless, because if we are going to leave it as they are going to come out new DLC and vigil will stay back and back until it becomes the new deja vu ... what we need are ideas for the devs can make a buff to the perks of quentin and a rework to freddy

  • Why not?, it does not make sense to say that you recover from exhaustion but you must be still, ######### ?, it is useless because even if you are still recovering from exhaustion, it would be a lost perk slot ..

  • And the saddest thing of all is that ... I can not play for the 2.4.0 update that the fps are terrible and the game is crashing :(

  • Lol, "decisive strike is toxic", is the counter to noed so the devs can not do anything;) also the dlc is expensive and all bought by laurie .. the solution is to throw them to the ground and grab them and thus avoid a ds ready?? Stop being a crybaby and get used to playing with DS as the survivors got used to noed.

  • It would be good for pharmacy to guarantee very rare / rare / uncommon and common addons

  • Ehm, tough? hallucinations of the doctor? unnerving presence? Ds has many perks that contradict him .. also the majority of survivors who use DS run the straight line and it is very easy to catch them back to the ground .. and most of them fail it lmao .. and if you can compare a blood warden with decisive strike both are second-chance perks .. that one at the end game does not mean it does not work/useless .. DS is totally fine .. besides as he said someone would be a scam, since most buy laurie by DS.
So to stop crying just BREAK THE PALLET, use enduring, and dont be a crybaby killer :)

  • Just dont be crybaby, ds is tottaly fine
What if we talk about noed ..? blood warden .. they are second chance perks and no one complains.
