Yet another "We need to 'fix' a Killer tactic because Survivors don't like it, and everyone knows Killers can only do things Survivors approve of." post, huh?
All you said is 'I want Kindred baskit' in more words.
-
I noticed allot of your 'broken' is just 'Killer powers I don't like'.
Just going to put it out there: A mechanic being literally broken is objective; if a Survivor is unable to die because the code broke: That is 'broken'.
Your ideas are subjective; they are your opinion what what you think is OP. Not 'broken' in the 'this is actually broken and not working as intended' sense. To wit: Wraith is fine. He was weak AF before.

But how often do you actually find the last survivor by slugging the 3rd one? If me and 1 other survivor are left and I see the killer slug them, I will definitely hide for hatch somewhere far away. By slugging the 3rd one, you're just wasting everyone's time by not letting them move on to the next match. They will have to watch you search the same exact spots for 4 mins until they die after which it still is RNG who finds the hatch first. Nothing changes except the killer wasted 4 minutes of everyone's time
AH, I see. So the Killer trying for a 4K is at fault for the 4th Survivor hiding for hatch? How dare that evil, evil Killer want a 4K! 'Be happy with the 3K' is the Survivor mantra!
Yet Survivors are never evil villains for going for a 4E.
How odd that ONLY Killers are at fault for wanting a 4K. And it's Killer's fault if Survivors hide. And the Killer is cruel for the 4th Survivor not picking up his friend... ๐ค
You see where I'm going with this? You're, literally, saying YOU hiding and YOU not picking up your friend and YOU wanting to escape is the Killer's fault because Killers wanting a 4K are just automatically to blame for everything, apparently.
-
People would use it to ban Killers they find 'unfun'. And then those Killers would have massivly inflated queue times.
Also; what happens if 4 people in a lobby ban 4 different Killers? An SWF could basically dodge the 4 best Killers.
-
Same reason D. Strike was buffed because of Enduring, then changed to ignore Enduring, and never nerfed back to normal; Survivors benefit. ๐

Fix both? It would be an overhaul since a lot of things effect each other. Gen speeds you would need to look at slowdown perks, instant downs, gen progression perks, how viable solo vs grouped would be, etc. If you just lowered gen speeds that increases the viability for camping and tunneling since you are punished less for it.
Fixing both is the right call, yes.
There's just so many people who have this exchange:
'Fix camping/tunneling!'
"Well, if we fixed gen speeds-"
'Nope! That won't stop it (Or 'gen speeds are fine'), so just do something about camping/tunneling.'

Even if you fix the issues, the fact is that camping and tunneling can and still will occur. New survivor perk people don't like? Camp/Tunnel. Weak or strong player in the match? Camp/Tunnel. Don't like the item they have? Camp/Tunnel. Having a bad day? Camp/Tunnel. Etc.
You can alleviate the issues by making the game better for Killers (even at the cost of Survivors) to make it less likely to happen but it's basically the default option and there is nothing Survivors can do about it except leave.
So what's the mentality? Punish camping/tunneling but don't fix the underlying issues with gen speeds?
-
No. I'd freaking flip a table at BHVR's office with my mind if, upon hooking someone, they teleported next to their friend, or a 90% complete gen, or an open exit gate, or a 99%'d exit gate.
It's like some Survivors just want mechanics that either flip off Killers, or can be easily abused for free unhooks. ๐ค

Way Too Angy: Pick up and throw a pallet at the Killer. This break the pallet but suns the Killer for 3/4/5% longer if it hits. "Look out! He's angy!"
Snark: Angy will snark under his breath at the Killer when he's within their TR. He gets 5/6/7% more BP for the Boldness category. "He can't keep his mouth shut, even when it's in his best interest to do so"
Percussive Maintenance: Angy can kick a generator to instantly gain 3/4/5% progress. This still alerts the Killer as if it was exploded. This can only be done once every 120 seconds. It requires a 3 second charge-up time. "He knows how to make inanimate objects work via blunt force"
-
'If I'm getting punished for ruining the match, why is the Killer not being punished for playing the game within the rules?!' Is a new take.

Ruining the experience for 4 other players VERSUS ruining the experience for 4 other players...
Just because you don't like a tactic does not mean it's 'ruining the game' just so you can make a false equivalency.

I had a nurse do this twice yesterday. After she found out I wasnโt going to help the downed survivor, she decided to go for plan B which is always to help the downed survivor up in the hopes of them ratting you out.
She kept downing her and helping her up for 10 mins so she would tell my location but luckily my teammate wasnโt a scumbag. After another 5 mins I decided to just help her up and dc so she could have a chance at hatch which she got.
Funny how killers cry when survivors wait at the exit for 2 mins but dragging the game out for 15 mins is a-okay. We should get an option to bleed out instantly after being slugged for 1 minute.
We should get an option to bleed out instantly after being slugged for 1 minute.
Rofl, no. Why should Survivors get the choice to prevent a Killer from getting his 4th kill, just because they're salty? That would be exactly like old old 'kill myself on the hook to give my friend the hatch' BS that STARTED the 'slugging for the 4K' trend in the first place.
Why would they give Survivors a second way to pull that BS?

Why not an Uno reverse?
Keep the smaller good zones, but make landing a great skill check give a negative progress instead? Wouldn't really effect your average player as most will aim for the good zones. But skilled player wouldn't be able to take advantage over UP, they in fact would have their muscle memory screwed with due to wanting to avoid great skill checks.
Ohh, I like this.

Wait half the map.....I remember when only the basement hooks were the only hooks because of sabo squads.....man you were lucky to only lose half...
I can't remember if regenerating hooks existed at the time, but I was once on the Ski lodge map, downed someone, and literally 2 seconds later:
Sabo sound, sabo sound, sabo sound. *5 second pause*, Sabo sound, sabo sound.
It was an SWF that pre-sabo'd an entire area, and then ran there if they were being chased. The other 3 were hiding near the closest hooks, so the second 1 went down; I had no hooks. I'm ashamed to admit; I DC'd. It was, literally the first down after 2 gens popped, and they sweatted that hard to prevent ONE hook.
I was angy AF. ๐
-
Make it randomly reverse the direction the skillcheck spins.
I bet that would throw a ton of people.๐
-
How to fix Saboing (Hear me out):
- Make it take longer to do.
- When done, the hook looks normal. But it has the 'Sabo'd' effect for 60-80 seconds
- The next 2 closest hooks cannot be sabo'd while one is.
- Once Sabo runs out, or once it triggers; that hook cannot be sabo'd again for the rest of the match.
- If the Killer tries to hook a Survivor on a Sabo'd hook; the hook falls apart halfway through the hooking animation, and the Killer is stunned for 2 seconds while the freed Survivor gets a 2 second speed boost.
The result; Saboing is only useful pre-planned and out of sight of the Killer. If he sees you sabo; he will just go to a different hook.
The Killer stun is to prevent him from just smacking the Survivor instantly. The speed boost is meant to give the Survivor a TINY bit of distance. It's in no way meant to let them get away if their team does not help further.
-
I remember when DBD was new, and Survivors could literally perma-break hooks. Ended up with half the map being dead zones that Survivors would run too so they could never be hooked.
And then they would cry they were being slugged.
Good times.
-
Anti-loop killers are the only viable killers in the current META.
I mean, when the first cahse can cause 2 gens to pop; Killers want to play Killers that end those chases ASAP, which means denying loops.
Until gen speeds change; Killers really don't have a choice, unless they LIKE being wiped in 5 minutes and told 'gg ez' and 'uninstall noob' every match.

And, per usual, you're assuming the worst of survivors. Shocker.
A killers objective is not to "Remove that Jeff you found as quickly as possible", a killers objective is to "Prevent the survivors from escaping". You're conflating what you think is the optimal strategy with the actual objective.
This would be similar to me saying a survivors objective is to "Complete the center gen on the map". That is obviously false, even if by doing so it increases the survivors chances of escaping more so than completing another gen. Optimal strategy does not equal actual objective.
As for tunneling removing a survivor prematurely, it ABSOLUTELY does so. That is the whole point of tunneling as it makes the match easier as a 3v1. Having to get 9 more hook states after the first survivor is eliminated is much longer than having to get 3-6 while the survivors, assumedly, still have more objectives to complete as well. No one, except you, is talking about a specific deserved time in game. I'm talking about the survivors perception of the match with specifics to CHANCES to get BP/pips and then having to sit in queue.
A 4k match where you are able to get 2 unhooks, heal someone, complete half a gen, bless a totem, and die first FEELS much different than a 1k match where you didn't even get a chance to get to a single pallet before the killer was back on you after being unhooked. I wonder if this comes from killers seeing survivors as a single entity instead of 4 individual players. Unless the survivors are a full comp squad, the survivor tunneled out receives no compensation for a 3 man escape (aka a survivor "win").
I question your reading comprehension in general though, as I made no mention of camping or fairness. I was explaining why I believe survivors dislike being tunneled to try to spread some empathy. Try re-reading my last paragraph to see that. I specifically said both sides should try to understand the actions of others as I believe if a survivor feels they were tunneled, they should be introspective and think did the killer actually tunnel (or was I just the one happened to be found) and if so, why the killer chose to do so.
a killers objective is to "Prevent the survivors from escaping"
And...How do you think the Killer does that? The only way to prevent a Survivor from escaping is to KILL THEM. If they are alive; they will do their objective, which is 'attempt to leave'.
You're conflating what you think is the optimal strategy with the actual objective.
No, you're disassociating what the Killer's objective is in order to claim 'The dude called 'Killer' does not actually have the goal of killing.'
This would be similar to me saying a survivors objective is to "Complete the center gen on the map". That is obviously false, even if by doing so it increases the survivors chances of escaping more so than completing another gen. Optimal strategy does not equal actual objective.
Once again; you're deliberately mixing up 'strategy' and 'objective' for the Killer. Let me ask you these 2 questions:
- How can the Killer prevent Survivors from escaping, for the entire match, without killing?
- How can the Killer win, without killing?
The answer is 'he cannot'. Therefore, Killing is not a 'strategy'. It's his objective. Stop trying to muddy the definitions to make a dishonest point.
That's like me saying 'The Survivors objective is not to do generators; it's to survive. Therefore, they don't NEED to do gens.'; I'm deliberately making a vague, if technically correct, statement to make a point that would otherwise be wrong.
As for tunneling removing a survivor prematurely, it ABSOLUTELY does so
No, it does not, because there's no 'premature'. If there is: what is it? When does the Killer get to kill? After 2 minutes? 3? 5? 7? Nope! Generators are done. Survivors escaped. Match over. There. Is. No. Set. Time. Before. The. Killer. Can. Kill. Thus; there is no being 'prematurely removed'.
It's another buzzword being flung around by Survivors trying to invent rules and balance flaws so they can demand change in their favor.
I question your reading comprehension in general though, as I made no mention of camping or fairness
Ah, good; getting right into the insults and personal attacks. The sure sign you have 0 valid points to make. I was talking about tunneling, and accidentally typed 'camping'. Anyone having an honest discussion would have asked if I made a mistake, as it's clear I was talking about tunneling earlier. But you went right into personal attacks instead.
As for fairness; it was somewhat implied with 'camping kicks people out of the match'. Implying the one camped has suffered an injustice, an unfair event.
Anyways; we're done here. I don't engage with people who go into ad hominems anymore.

"Tunneling" and "fair play" are not mutually excusive. Nor does one cancel out the existence of the other. If someone states "they were tunneled" or that "they tunneled someone" most players know what is meant by that statement. Even by your own comments, you have an understanding of what is meant by the term. Being "official" has no bearing on if it exists or not.
To go back to the unicorn example someone used. If someone mentions a unicorn most people will have a general idea of what that is (much like "tunneling" persons idea of what one is may vary a bit). You're not going to say "Oh, unicorns don't exist so the word has no meaning".
Anyway, this is probably going off to crazy tangent territory.
What I'm getting at is that it means different things. There's no set 'he was tunneling' definition. Let me see if I can explain:
I stopped watching most youtuber/twitch people play DBD, because the SECOND the Killer walked towards an unhook, the youtuber would scream 'He's TUNNELING!'. I mean, even if the Killer was not at the hook, had not hit anyone, and was only walking in that direction.
I've also seen people scream 'TUNNELING!' when they were self-caring under the hook they were unhooked from. As if they believed they should be immune to attack because they were unhooked.
I've been accused of tunneling when I was chasing the unhooker, and he accidentally led me to the unhooked, who had run away & started self-caring. Well, the unhooker, dropped a pallet, and now it's me, a pallet, the unhooker running away, and the unhooked 3 feet away, still self-caring. So CLEARLY I was tunneling when I hit them for being an idiot.
So while we know what people are trying to say. What I am saying is that there's no actual definition. it means different things to different people.
Person 1: Tunneling = Hitting an unhooked Survivor before they heal up.
Person 2: Tunneling = Hitting them right off the hook. But if they start to heal, work on gens, or do bones; they are fair game.
Person 3: Tunneling = Hitting the unhooked Survivor at any time before hooking someone else.
THAT is what I mean by 'tunneling does not exist/does not have a set definition'. We know what the person is trying to say via context, but to say 'This is what tunneling is' is to THEN admit that doing it is bad if the definition is bad.
And, given that 99% of 'Tunneling' is just 'I'm salty I lost'...Well...We really should not codify it and give salty people ammo to sling around.
-
@CodeDB said:
Alright, someone has to say it.
Survivors don't hate tunneling because it is the "optimal way to play" and they just hate to see those dastardly killers win a single match. Survivors hate tunneling because it prematurely removes them from the match.
This limits the BP they earn, possibly earns them a depip, and makes them wait in queue longer (or just sit there doing nothing if playing with friends) all for the mortal sin of being the first one found in a casual game.
Comparing tunneling to finishing a gen is one of the most asinine and frankly disingenuous comparisons I've ever heard. Does finishing a gen kick out a player? No, even if it is the last gen powered, there is still the end game (shout out to the NOED defenders).
Back to the original question though, what is tunneling? That is debatable and I think some users here give a pretty decent definition. There is no hard set rule for or against it and nor should there be. The best thing you can do though is to put yourself in the other players shoes and think how you would feel in that situation and hope they do the same for you.
You're wrong. Tunneling does not 'prematurely' remove someone from a match.
Such a term fosters the idea that Survivors deserve, or are owed, <x> amount of time before the Killer is allowed to kill them. When, in reality, if the Killer kills them; they had their alloted time in the match. They did not die 'prematurely'.
'Does finishing a gen kick out a player?'
So the idea is that tunneling is unfair but genrushing is not is...because a Survivor is kicked out of the match if the Killer plays his objective?
That's, once again, operating on the flawed idea that Survivors are owed, or deserve, a certain amount of time before they can be removed. The comparison works because Doing gens is how Survivors ultimately win, while killing is how the Killer wins.
Complaining that camping is 'unfair' because 'Survivors are moved from the match' is silly. You're saying 'It's unfair the Killer won because I did not get to play as long as I wanted'. Which, for most Survivors, would be 'until I walk out those exit gates & no sooner'. So if we let Survivors dictate WHEN Killers can kill, the answer would be 'never'.

I see your point, but we are talking about an action in a video game, one which everyone understands what it means and how to defend/oppose it in debates. Many things have parlance that are only related to that particular activity. DBD is no different.
Now, I certainly agree that sweats complaining about their competitors sweating is quite hypocritical, and often amusing. But most of us, watching a clip of it, would know exactly what it is, and would use the term to define it.
Regardless of how we feel about it.
No, no; we understand what people ATTEMPT to ascribe meaning too it.
What one person calls 'tunneling', another calls 'fair play'. There's no set meaning. Just a loose understanding of what someone's attempting when they scream 'You're a dirty tunneler!'. That does not mean it's the official definition.

It does exist, or we wouldn't all understand it in the parlance of DBD.
Does it matter? Well that is a much different debate.
Not true. We understand 'dragon' to mean 'flying reptile' at the very broadest. Yet they don't exist.
'Tunneling/Tunneler' is a fake title meant to force Killers into playing sub-optimally through shame and threats of reporting. It's used by people who want to win at all costs, which includes lies and threats.
Which is ironic, because they're upset that their opponent is also trying to win.

Maybe, yeah. It's just silly that Trapper has to find and pick up his power.
The Huntress does not have to wander the map for hatchets that spawn in the far corners. Hag does not need more mud to place her traps. Trickster does not need to pick up knives he threw.
So the Trapper needing to meander the map, wasting upwards of 2-3 minutes, in 5-8 minute games, is really silly.

Modding would be abusable.
Mod every Survivor to be bright yellow.
Mod Ghostface or Pig to be bright pink. Hell, mod Wraith's invisibly shimmer to be bright pink, so cloaking Wraiths are MORE visible.
Without a paid team to curate the mods; this would happen. Hell, even WITH such a team (which, by the way, costs BHVR money and has no income returning from); you can bet some people will find a way to mod their game without support, and do the above.
If there's an unlocked back door; thieves will open it.
-
My Trapper Fixes (All numbers are for example purposes, so don't assume 'OP' or 'UP' based on the numbers):
- Trapper can 'lob' traps while moving. They only go 3 meters, and then take 3-5 seconds to arm. In this way, they cannot be used to throw ahead of a running Survivor. But it allows the Trapper to place them on the move instead of spending 3/4 of the game time placing traps.
- The Trapper starts with all traps in his inventory. Unless using the add-on that starts with the traps opened. This way he is not spending another 3/4 of the map picking up his Killer power.
- Fix the damn map generation so traps will spawn in logical areas. For using above add-on.
- The traps are invisible outside 15 meters. This means SWF SWAT teams can't give the hive mind information on Trapper's traps. It also means a sprinting Survivor may step in it before he sees it, but a careful Survivor will see it before they step in it. It ALSO fixes how glaringly obvious his traps are on indoor maps.
Boom. Trapper fixed.

I got two people trying to argue with me - i apologize for saying that you accused me of straw-manning, it was PlaysByShady that did this, not you. An honest mistake.
I think we got off on the wrong foot and are having two different discussions about different things. Miscommunication.
II think we can all agree that - regardless of hypothetical, paper, or practice - The Nurse has the greatest POTENTIAL to down survivors if her power is used flawlessly.
This is the point I'm going towards, and it's the crux of what I was saying in correlation to satisfactory play.
There is no killer in the game, as of yet, who can reliably begin and punctuate 4 chases - 8 hits - on survivors in different locations within the course of 80 seconds.
And accomplishing these feats as the Nurse is a simple point and click. Binary. Get the hit or not.
Killers such as Blight, Demogorgon, Huntress, Cannibal, Hag, these killers CAN accomplish this. But in these circumstances, they are using their powers, there's anticipation and skill, and - moreover- there's time between abilities.
Nurse is, by far, the killer with the greatest mobility and pressure against survivors. I think we can all agree on that. She is capable of extremely lethal blinks and circumvents many aspects of gameplay that survivors otherwise could use to their advantage. This is not a debate, it's just the truth of her power.
I am not saying that she is outright more viable than other killers. I am not saying that other killers cannot get downs in such circumstances, nor am I saying that she is easy - or impossible to play against.
I am, however, saying that she is very strong - and the feast or famine nature of her playstyle mixed with the binary nature of her ability makes it less than an accomplishment to use than other killers in contrast.
Getting 5 back-to-back Huntress Hatchets takes skill and is a grand feat. Landing that long distance hatchet to predict a dead-hard is euphoric.
Perfectly timing a doctor blast to pacify a survivor to prevent them from dropping a pallet and securing a short chase is incredibly satisfying.
Using the Cannibal's chainsaw to catch up to a sprint-burst, and hitting them with the very tip of the final swing as they approach a vault - that is satisfying.
Getting a flick with the Oni's demon charge on an unsuspecting survivor, satisfying as hell.
Bouncing around and using glides and flicks to outwit a survivor as Blight is satisfying.
Tricking a survivor into a trap as the Trapper is satisfying.
Timing your chainsaw turn perfectly to instantly down a survivor in a tight loop as Hillbilly is incredibly rewarding.
Outwitting an opponent with Night Shroud as Ghostface is satisfying
Deducing a survivor's location from the environment and sounds to exit your phase with a deadly lunge as the Spirit is satisfying.
Pointing at the survivor and blinking on top of them. Eh.
Some people say FPS games are boring because it's 'just clicking on heads' . Nurse is similar in that way.
Sure, it may require skill to do reliably, there is a bit of anticipation.
But if you land on top of a survivor that doesn't have dead hard, you get the hit/grab. It's just that simple.
Nemesis requires timing and positioning, Blight needs to be deliberate with rushes, but blinking with the nurse is... cheap.
It always feels like I didn't earn it. I didn't need to predict the arc and velocity of a hatchet, i didn't skewer and reel a survivor, i didn't time my Hillbilly dash or cleverly cut off survivors with a Cenobite chain. I just... clicked myself over to them. Sometimes I don't do it right. But that's it.
it's almost as if the Huntress had hatchets with no parabolic arc or change in velocity - always straight all the time, and the hatchets went through walls. The time held determines the distance traveled. The skill becomes binary. Cover doesn't matter, location doesn't really matter. All that matters is if the Ghost Huntress misses or not. It's completely binary. If she is aware of your location, she can place a ghost hatchet where you are and injure you from a considerable distance away. In this silly example, hopefully you can understand when I mean there is a lack of satisfaction from a 'cheap' aspect. if Huntress hatchets worked this way - going through walls, floors, roofs, and all terrain - being perfectly accurate to the pointed location. Huntress would have an ability that was binary. it would be skill based, because you'd have to slightly lead targets.; But so long as you know where people are, you can hit them. The power - in this case - is a perfect power, but it is up to the user to miss and mess up. Huntress would be a LOT less satisfying to play like this, because in this case there is no legitimate skill to knowing her arcs and charge times - hitboxes - and having precision to thread obstacles with her power. You just point towards an enemy and let it go. It hits - or it misses. Binary.
Highly potent, extremely dangerous, circumvents the conventional style of play, and is nearly inescapable if executed in all of is beautiful simplicity.
But it's a human power. And humans are flawed, humans make mistakes, humans misjudge things.
She is not held back from her ability, she is held back from her humanity - and the ability to make critical mistakes.
This is the point I'm making.
NOT that she's unstoppable. NOT that she's broken. NOT that she can get hits in the open when other killers cannot. NOT that I hate her oooh I hate her or anything like that.
Her power is SIMPLE and it is almost PERFECT. It basically cannot, by its own merit, fail.
It is a binary power. You either used it right, or you didn't use it right.
If you used it right, they are dead. If you didn't use it right, enjoy the fatigue.
Her ability isn't a complex mechanic or countered effect. It doesn't require anticipation or setup, it cannot be stopped by conventional means. It is a button.
It brings me no pleasure knowing that pressing a button correctly alone wins me the game. That there are no mind-games and only 'the button' - nothing else matters - and this is boring. And Ii believe there are many others on both sides who feel the same way.
We can disagree on many things. But Ii hope we do not have to disagree on the viability of the Nurse or the simplicity of her ability.
'The Nurse has the greatest POTENTIAL to down survivors if her power is used flawlessly.'
I mean...That's how all Killer powers should work? They should require Killer skill over Survivor mistakes, because if a Killer power set requires Survivors to make mistakes instead; That Killer literally cannot win against skilled players who make little to no mistakes.

If you're consistently running into this, run an endgame build.
But...but...If I bring NoED, I get told I'm using a crutch perk! ๐ฎ

So basically 'Survivors will stop playing if they can't win most the time'? ๐

Sorry but I find FNAF's fanbase to be incredibly obnoxious.
I can't play a single horror game without multiple people saying 'FNAF should be in this!' and then getting incredibly angry when people say they don't agree with what is clearly a genius idea. Phasmophobia, for example. ๐

I've been playing Overwatch competitive a bit more and you would not believe how many people are blaming someone else when that person is literally walking up to the enemy in a 1 v 6 and saying "I can take them" lol
I used to be part of the OW scene when it launched, and EVERY Hero had a 'Nerf them' thread. Literally everyone was apparently OP, according to the player base. ๐
-
They won't stop until it's nerfed. And once those things are nerfed; they will move onto the next thing.
This goes for both sides:
People hate losing. And some people lack the self-awareness to admit they made mistakes. So instead of 'I lost because I messed up' it's 'I lost because <x> is OP. Nerf <x>.' But since those people lack said introspection; even when <x> is nerfed, they will still fail to improve, and now <y> is OP for making them lose.

So I am guessing you are a Face-Camper. Like how you are defending Camping and Tunnelling and may I suggest that you either learn to chase the survivors (which honestly is the most fun) or click that uninstall and move on to a new game (leggo games I hear are fun.
The two that you cry about being changed first are things that do need to change because they just make the game unfun and people quit. If the killer slugs that is on the survivors because you were either all together or did not bother resetting. If you face-camp on first hook and 0 gens done just to win then good for you. If the are a SWF you may get another kill and that is all or you can possibly get a 0k if the group is very good. If you are all about the camping and tunnelling why would you keep playing because if it is boring for a survivor then is it not boring for you as well?
I would also like to clarify I do not cry a killer is camping if I see a teammate run right to the hook right after the killer hooks. I have played killer and been called a camp when the other 3 survivors were at the hook... What incentive do I have to leave?
In the end if you think this is good game play think why people are complaining so much about this? Also why is camping and tunnelling so common? Always remember Kill= Skill and a win is a win no matter if you have fun or not. Never learn and get better cause that is hard just sit and wait ;)
Ah, the age-old 'I don't have an argument, so let me accuse you of bias' attack.
We're done here. I gave you valid reasons why teleporting hooks won't work, and you turn around and attack me, by saying I must camp if I disagree with you, and telling me to uninstall.
Grow up. You don't get to attack me just because I disagree or play in a way you don't like. I gave you valid reasons. You retaliated with ad hominems. This means you have no real argument other than your feelings.
Don't bother replying; I don't talk to people who's only arguments are personal attacks and 'YoU mUsT bE bIaSeD!'

Why would you camp on a 3 Gen? Isn't the point of a 3 Gen is to force the Survivors to want to get hooked just to get the game over with. I mean that's how all my 3 Gens go as Vommy Mommy....mind you that's after 45 mins pass where I deny them a Gen muwahahahahaha.
But it's not throwing them a bone Pyramid Heads cages teleport to cancel out camping the cage anyway so the logical solution is to give the same thing to Hooks. Sadly camping is still camping, and most dislike that whole "strategy"
Because, if I hook someone in the middle of a 3 gen; I can patrol the gens and the hook.
Who cares who dislikes camping? People dislike losing, and will try to remove the other side's ability to win. That's all complaining about camping is; a smoke screen for controlling how Killers win.
Remove camping; next up is tunneling.
Remove camping & tunneling; next up is slugging.
The reason PHead's cages teleport is because he does not need to actually hook a Survivor to use them. I absolutely refuse to accept hooks teleporting, because I know it will happen during 3 gens, and in the end game, and will teleport a hooked Survivor next to an open, of 99'd, gate.
At that point; the game is deciding I don't get that kill. Not me. Not Survivors. The game is deciding 'Screw you. This Survivor gets free.'
And the game should not get to decide if I get a kill.

@VikingDragonXii said:
The best fix probably would be make hooks function similar to Pyramid Heads cages....if the Killer stays too close the Hooked Survivor the hooked Survivor is teleported to a new location.
No.
What about camping in the end game? Or camping with a 3 gen?
At that point; it's the Survivor's bad plays that made it happen, and they don't deserve to be thrown a bone by having the hook teleport away.

Imagine if Survivor POV was first-person. I would ######### myself every match.
I wish the Survivor camera was first person.
The fact that Survivors can counter Ghost Face by psychically seeing him around corner they never get near because of the 3rd person camera is the dumbest thing the devs ever did. Still ticks me off.

It's 30 seconds of getting points that you wouldn't have had, the only downside is 1 person would lose chase points but the other 3 survivors wouldn't be affected. Would 15 seconds be better for you? Just give the person some amount of time to reconnect. DBD is the only game that instantly kicks if my internet has a hicup.
The length of time is not the problem.
The fact that you want a mechanic that only draws out the wait for a REAL match just for your bad internet is the problem.
Why should the devs devote manpower and money to create a mechanic that just makes Survivors wait for 15, 30, 40, whatever seconds before they are booted & need to queue back up, just for you and a handful of people who want to play with bad internet?
-
Game was scary before the devs gave every Survivor 500 second chance perks, and added SWF with voice communication.
Dead Space 3 is the least scary because horror games are less scary when you have a friend to help defuse the mood. Now imagine there being 4 of you, like in DBD.

Why would the killer disappear for 2 min? I'm saying that as soon as the hicup happens you have 30 seconds to reconnect or the game ends like usual. How does this hurt anyone? If anything it helps survivors, If you've ever waited in a long ass queue and then had the killer DC maybe this would have prevented that. I don't get why you think 30 seconds is so outrageous when surv queues can reach 10+ minutes...
I said disappears 2 minutes into the match, not disappears for 2 minutes.
The point being that disappearing for 30 seconds can cause an almost upstoppable lead for the other side.
Not to mention that, for people who DO NOT return? Survivors were forced to wait 30 seconds before they were kicked & go right back into the queue. It's just another long wait, for them. All for those niche moments where someone returns in 30 seconds.

So if the game had my killer stand there for up to 30 seconds giving me the opportunity to reconnect and survivors could keep getting points and doing their own thing you'd be against that? Some nights I can play for 4+ hours with zero issues. It's not like I'm on here asking for them to remove the DC penalty. I'd like a feature so that games don't end abruptly when they don't need to.
Yes, because that's not playing the game.
If a Survivor sits in queue for 5+ minutes, then gets a Killer who disappears 2 minutes into the match, then gets disconnected 30 seconds later because they never returned; What did they get? Just a waste of time.
And if the Killer returns: Congrats; the Survivors now have a nearly insurmountable lead. Most Killers probably won't even return, or will stop trying, now that they can't win without a MASSIVE misplay by Survivors.
Again; if your internet is bad; You should not be playing an online game where the enjoyment of others hinges on you not disconnecting.
-
Bruh. If you know your net is spotty: You have a duty to your fellow players to NOT start a multiplayer game!
Why should 4 other people suffer through your disconnecting? Why should they have to wait to see if you come back?

but there is TONS of perks you can bring to slow down the game or give you extra time like no way out... deadlock, Dead man's switch, pop, ruin, Oppression, surge OR BRING CORRUPTTT IT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF LOSING 3 GENS AT THE START!!!!!!!!!!!! + your mindset is dumb (im sorry but it is) you are REALLY EXPECTING SURVIVORS TO NOT POP 3 GENS???? the first 2 gens are basically free... dont go in with a mindset to keep all gens. a good first chase can still give the survivors time to do 2 gens thats okay TRY TO GET A THREE GEN!!! and once again think that the first 2 gens are basically free there is nothing you can do about it :)
There's also TONS OF PERKS Survivors can use, yet they seem to think those perks should be free just so they can use the 4 META perks while still countering literally any Killer play style.
Funny h ow your mindset never seems to be accepted in reverse. It's always 'Survivors should get <50 perks to counter everything> basekit! But Killers should just stop using their 4 META perks for once!'

killers generalize like they're getting paid to
""EVERY GAME IS DEAD HARD AND BORROWED TIME", "I'M ALWAYS GETTING TEA BAGGED" "UGH EVERY SURVIVOR BULLIES ME AND ONLY ME"
has the same energy as "Girls don't want to date nice guys"
Survivors do the same thing:
'EVERY Killer camps!'
"EVERY Killer tunnels me off the hook!"
"EVERY Killer has <insert literally any perk poster does not like>"
