I think the issue is honestly more on a certain part of the community:
those that right now get to read ranks through BM. how do you sort them with sbmm? Objectively they lack skill, but you can't put them with new players cause that'd be punishing new players.
What do you mean getting to red ranks with BM?
-
So am I π
-
Tony I've seen your killer gameplay I think you'll be alright somehow
-
Insulting people who want MMR will definitely change their minds, and more importantly, change behaviour's mind.

This is a game. People play it to have fun. I'm a fairly good Killer player. Would I enjoy going up against more challenging opponents more frequently? Sure! Would I be willing to sweat my ass off every game in order to even have a chance to compete? No.
Likewise, casual/average players are still going to complain about their teammates.
We also have no idea how MMR even works in this game. How am I supposed to get better if I can't even see what I need to work on?
The pip system needs an update, not a re-design.
Of course you play it to have fun but so do other people, including casual and newer players.
For the sake of argument let's say there's 10 players in the queue-
One is a legacy nurse. Agitation, starstruck, infectious, knockout. She considers a game a loss if more than 2 gens get done. Red ranks, unsurprisingly.
One is an experienced swf team with a combined total of 16k hours. They've been playing together for years and they do whatever it takes to win. Red ranks.
One is a killer player whose only been playing for a couple of months and are naturally pretty good, but they've risen through the ranks quickly, hitting red for the first time and are starting to struggle, it doesn't help that they have barely any perks.
One is a group of megheads who make impressively bad decisions. They'll step in bear traps they personally saw being placed, work on gens with RBTs on, and all take protection hits even when the hook is so close it won't do anything. Red ranks, because they play a lot.
MMR would, if working as intended, make the obviously correct matchup here. Current system may or may not, these players are all treated the same way.
MMR would give 10 players a match that reflected their experience and capabilities. Current system has just as good a chance of giving 5 players an easy win, whether that's fun or not for them really depends on them, and the other 5 might start considering if it's finally time to uninstall.

The issue is that if you are good, your matches are going to get worse.
If you aren't good, your matches probably won't change too much.
For the Survivor side of things, if you want good teammates, you've gotta be good yourself. If you aren't good, you'll see the same level of teammates you currently do.
If you are, then you get god-level teammates...and a Starstruck Nurse who slugs at 5 gens.
The average skill level of the matches may be closer, but MMR may actually kill off most of the high-level players.
God nurses and sweat squads are already a thing. If they shouldn't be placed with equally hardcore players, who exactly should they be going up against?
-
Yes when it was on I had more fun and had a lot more close matches which is what I like. With it off it's mostly just stomp or be stomped (yawn). My teammates definitely felt better than before, trying out killers I hadn't played in a long time was actually fun (at first it was too much, i.e. giving me literal new players, but they evened that out towards the end of the last test).
-
Loads of people will be annoyed if it's springtrap and another load will be annoyed if this is just a red herring. Either way it'll be funny

The nerf premonition needed

How much more of a downside can you get than unplayable?
That was more of a snarky comment relating to my opinion of deathslinger :p
-
This implies that the community as a whole is anti-MMR, a lot of us are for it.
-
I mean every time they test MMR and say ranks won't be used for matchmaking people start complaining that it's not working because the ranks are different
-
I got it first try just using yellow bottles only, it's not as bad as I thought it'd be.
-
if they let the killer see the deep wound timer again they might have some use.

Actually the creator confirmed pyramid head wasn't sexually assaulting those mannequins if that's what you're referring to.
They should make more SH games just the fans will have something else to do other than torment the original crew

Would definitely affect different killers differently. Feel like a 3rd person perspective would make Deathslinger pretty unplayable. Theres also the issue of the character model itself getting in the way of view. Imagine losing sight of survivors because Nemesis or Oni is so damn big and covering so much of the screen that you cant see the survivor directly infront of you.
It would make deathslinger unplayable, but there'd definitely also be some downsides

Just google "SDE Urban Dictionary" - that is your answer.
Ahh, now I see. Thanks

@Jasix said:
Meh - Just like when a survivor purposefully DCs - the only thought that that enters my head is: SDE.
Stochastic differential equation? Self-directed education? Spectral density estimation? Sebacoyl dinalbuphine ester?
-
I miss when t1 myers didn't trigger scaredy cat. I run the perk sometimes but I'd honestly rather not have it against scratched mirror myers, it just kinda ruins it.
-
Not much of the licensed killers' gameplay has a lot to do with their character outside of dbd except for probably Myers, pig and leatherface.
-
I've only seen it a couple of times but my favourite thing is when a survivor starts ranting in postgame chat about their stupid console teammates and the stupid console teammates start arguing back because they're actually one of the rare stadia or windows store users π I wish it happened more often
-
I use various nvidia filters which started as an anti-blendette measure although I don't really have the excuse since they nerfed Claudette. It does genuinely look really nice compared to base dbd, but it does give me an advantage especially over console players, no point in pretending it doesn't.

They should buff distortion and sole survivor honestly

I'm going to be running distortion from now on
Before instead of lightborn and nwo I was running nurses and I'm all ears so full auras
Distortion would've got burned through quick but object would've really hurt D:

I never use it anymore. If I see 4 flashlights I bring franklins. If I down someone I either face a wall or fake the pick up to hit the person waiting for the flashlight save.
I do that anyway so they don't think I have lightborn and keep trying. I mainly just like the free hits and auras
-
I run lightborn when there's a lot of flashlights and then I run it when there's none because I forget to switch it off.

Oh no! Not a little hyperbole! However will anyone grasp the intention of my post?!
Seriously though, you're too eager to dismiss the whole point of my post. Certain map offerings are played far more than others and it makes the game boring. Having to play a counter map offering or a sacrificial ward every time prevents players from being able to use any of the other offerings that are also clogging up the bloodweb. I'd rather use a blood point offerings rather than a defensive map offering, and I think most people would agree.
Exactly, it's not like you can choose when to get sacrificial wards, or maps that you like, or have any indication that any offering is going to be used. I guess on every killer we play we have to grind even harder until we have enough sacrificial wards and macmillan offerings to play one per match (who needs bloodpoint offerings anyway?)
Then when we're out of those we can start burning haddonfield offerings so we don't get sent to RCPD. Then when an even worse map comes out the RCPD offerings will come into play. Now this...this is gaming. This is the stuff right here.
Although no wait no one will do this because it's a completely deranged idea and when I've waited 10 minutes for a survivor game in the evening and my teammate sticks on a strode key the killer will use the more traditional + reliable alt+f4. And I can't even blame them honestly.
-
Bloodweb pollution. I'd much prefer more streamers, lime flashlights, green medkits, green killer addons, yes to all of that plz
They're just not healthy for the game either. Haddonfield (etc) offerings are often put on for the same reason as old moris were - a massive middle finger to the other side before the match has even started (much more popular during events too aren't they?)
It would pretty much kill off things like scratched mirror which is a shame but the benefits easily outweigh the downsides.
Of course you know what would even be even better? Making all maps balanced and fun for both sides. But that's not happening so cast the map offerings into the pits of hell as the next best thing.
-
Trickster is just like a weaker blight.
Okay no that comparison doesn't really make sense but it seems like the current thing to say
-
I use it. It's definitely not bad. If the gates are close together or the killer has whispers or can travel fast it's over anyway.
I run it as backup in case gens go quickly, I don't care about the 4th survivor and often let them go anyway. Although yesterday I gave a Jake the door but forgot I had NWO so we just had to stand around for a while, was kinda awkward.
-
Disagree. Blight is pretty map dependent (you can get used to the indoor maps and still manage although it's a lot harder, the maps where every object is lubed up are worse)
And he's counterable, which is always going to lose out to uncounterable.

Just because baby survivor uses op Slippery Meat. 6 attempts needs a nerfπ
Don't complain about OUR meta when it's obvious you run monstrous shrine on pig

Nope. Things like rancor and spies will though

Sounds like something a survivor main would say tbh

That's a first for me! Never thought the day would come when perks like that become a thing to moan about post-match! That's quite the triumph!
The best I've got was someone complaining I ran "Spies from the Shadows" because a crow helped me locate them in a locker that I "had no right to know" (yes, those were the words used).
But that's good going! Next time, see if you can get some salt for a perk like "Whispers". That's when you know you've achieved all you can in DBD :D
Baby killer needs birds to find survivors for him π€ completely outrageous
-
The atmosphere in here is getting a bit salty too. Save it for postgame chat lads

The last one wasn't a mess. It worked pretty well.
Those who didn't like it are generally those with artificially increased ranks. Went against a rank 4 killer who was more on our skill level of 12 and 13 and not a rank 4 killer.
I dunno, I'm a boosted killer and I'm pro-MMR

@TacitusKilgore said:
The funniest part about lightborn is survivor arrogance. You can literally stand there as they point their flashlight at your face, not getting blinded, and it will literally not penetrate their thick skull that you have lightborn. They'll keep trying over and over, and it will always kill them. its why i love lightborn.
I sometimes get smarter ones who figure it out pretty quickly so I've started just turning away or looking up as if I don't have it which works very well
-
Chad no slowdown build and also completely counterable just by not being stupid, they had nothing to whine about.
(I say this as someone who will go for flashy saves knowing full well the killer has starstruck, but I know who's to blame there)
-
I think somehow making haddonfield worse when updating it would definitely tempt me. It's not completely unlikely, almo has said before that according to the statistics haddonfield is a killer sided map.
-
More seriously when I played killer on PS4 I had a better time with it on.
-
Off - sweatier players sick of not being able to 360 m&k killers
On - survivors who could be on a crappy laptop or a NASA supercomputer with 8 times your fps, nvidia filters, spatial sound and a resolution so wide it spans multiple continents
-
If the killer is fun to play as and against I don't really care if it's candyman, springtrap, or the poop emoji

I don't know anything about the silent hill games other then the main characters, so it was just a guess cause of how much people talk about her
Ahh fair enough. I wouldn't complain if it was her, she's a great character whatever she is.

If the killer is locked in animation (breaking pallets, vaulting windows, and most importantly picking up survivors) they can't look away.

I booted up the game for the first time on December 25th, 2018. The legendary Winter theme was enough to send shivers down my spine. I remember playing through the tutorials, my first matches as Survivor, my first match as killer (Old Freddy on Torment Creek).
Ah, those are sweet memories of a better time. Back when DBD provided me with a level of enjoyment that no other game could. Sadly, it is gone now.
I always assumed you were there from the start with the amount of nostalgia you have but I actually started a few months before in september of 18. I do like to reminisce about the two weeks with no spirit π
