Really? All I've been thinking reading those threads is "attention seekers". Especially, when I read them and there's a whole lot of whining about non-issues, like that guy complaining about 'being forced to run lightborn'.

Tbh, that lightborn complaint is a real non-issue. But not all killer complaints are just attention seeking rants.

  • And besides a few complaining threads, you never see (at least I can't remember) survivors announcing, that they leave the game. This could be, because most play at least partially with their friends so the important peeps already know, but I also got a feeling, that this might validate, at least partially what wr all feel: that the balance is tilted in an unhealthy way.

  • Very nice write up amd insight. I might write my own, once I am finished with work.

  • Awww. Thank you, mate :>

Killing is a though line of work, and sometimes all it needs is some comforting words in order to continue the slaughtering... if you can catch those elusive survivors, that is! Grrrr!

  • The bullying continues in this thread :D

  • I had a game where I just wanted to chill with legion, with the caveat of wanting one stack of BBQ from each survivor. Normally, going out of your way to hook them already means that it will be an easy game for the survivors, because they can so gens at their leisure.

But this one game a Dwight wouldn't have me have a hook and tried to prevent each and everyone with all the tricks in game. So I decided (BAD WORD) it and tunneled him out of the game. And while doing that, sadly the game totally turned on its head and the others interfered in my personal quest to kill this Dwight, so I accidentally got a 4k. So even a chill planned game can turn sweaty.

This post serves no real purpose, but it's a fun anecdote.

  • That's rather obvious, isn't it?

    The Legion: Colorstained cloth.

    No other cosmetic can compete.

  • As a killer, I really despise body blocking. I understand that it's a clever tactic, but I hate that you can 100% stop the killer with it. I wouldn't mind a slow effect, but the killer should always push and shove those pesky survivors out of the way, even a 33% speed shove would be ok, but this 100% blocking is just rediculous and just another way for the survivors to put the killers in their place.

Every side has their tool box, but the survivors tool box feels so overwhelmingly oppressive at the higher MMR, that the killer doesn't feel intimidating anymore, at all, and of that happens, I guess a game with this premise has failed.

That being said, I totally stand behind the basic idea of BT. I now started playing a bit of survivor, because I have mostly run out of killer tome quests to do, and I must admit that being tunneled within seconds of getting off the hook feels really aweful. But while I would love to run away in this situations witj BT, I guess that it shouldn't be used offensively, as it so often is. This feels way more frustrating as a killer then it should, because you did nothing wrong: you didn't intentionally tunnel, you had an eye on the hook and were there in time, you went for the unhooker, but still you are being punished and left empty-handed.

Maybe loosing collision for the unhooked person would be the solution? They couldn't body block anymore. A dream wish would be, if they also had no collision vs hits if within 0,5m of another survivor, so that you could hit them through the unhooked person. You would still protect against tunneling, but the unhooking could be risky business and BT no "get out of jail for free" card.

  • Well, isn't the full team waiting at the exit gate to t-bag the killer, instead of leaving, a ritualistic humiliation, via non-verbal communication, that results only on one parties amusement, while humiliating the other?

Btw I don't mind all t-bagging, but I really hate the time-wasting at the exit gates. Nowadays, if I know I won't catch anyone, I will just watch a YouTube vid on my second monitor for a minute or two, till they leave. Maybe one day they will learn not to waste everyone's time.

In other situations t-bagging is the only means for quick communication between the killer and survivors that's beyond the scope of just killing and evading each other. Like when a survivor is admitting defeat, they will usually freeze in place and t-bag 2-3 times to show that they have given up. You can then show mercy of slaughter them and this t-bagging is not toxic at all.

  • I always feel a bit for the poor high mmr survivors that I slug for a full minute, who don't have DS, but I ate a few too many to no slug you, when I catch you after a sloppy unhook.

  • Or maybe wait till next years Predator chapter.

  • I saw a video in the feedback section of a poor Billy colliding with a hanging tree branch. I guess that a lot of the more mobile killers might have issues with that map.

That aside, I have had pretty good success so far as a killer on that map, despite the strong loops the main building and the general vastness. Maybe people are overthinking it again? Or maybe I was just lucky? But I don't feel (personally) that it's such an aweful map for killers. The key thing for us is, that without fog bottles we have pretty far sight and its hard to properly hide there.

  • I really hate DCing survivors, because they are just bad sports and spit in my survivor pudding.

If you feel outclassed and don't like the match, that's ok, just suicide on hook; you won't get a penalty and I get my points, it's a nice one for everyone involved. But a DC is just a childish way of throwing a tantrum.

That is, as long as the other side is playing normal and not slugging everyone, letting them bleed out or refusing to do gens and just want to harass the killer, in that case a DC penalty is much more favorable then suffering that.

  • I never noticed that, but the chases occupy that much of my attention. Lol.

Could be that the shadows are based on the distorted first person models of the killers? There is an out of bounds video that explains how most killer 1st person models are bend backwards or have the torso moved a foot / 30cm back, to give you the fov that you are used to. Its pretty interesting.

  • Because people like to have their own group included, ethnicity being one of the major ones.

I don't like it when tja becomes the main driving point of a characters identity, but on the other hand there is nothing wrong thinking "Oh nice, that character is from my region, that's sooo cool. I like him :)"

That being said, I'm pretty sure that Jonah is a latin based character but I haven't read any of his backstory yet, and I am at work right now ^^

  • Dont let the general consensus discourage you! I am not a real Clown main, but he is one of my favorite Killers and I play him more then most and I find him incredible fun to play.

His power isn't that much of a problem, as its pretty decend and gives him some incredible oppression in chases; it pay especially to learn how to utilize his Antidote at stronger and longer loops, ie chuck down a bottle of Antidote at your apex, then a Tonic at your opponents side, chase him, revert back and chase around the other side. If done correctly you will be boosted, your opponent hindered and this gives such an immense speed difference that you can break nearly every loop, but the shortest pallets.

No, his problem is his lack of map pressure and awareness. If you are good at the base game, you will soon find your first survivor, but if the other three just M1 gens, there is very little that you can do, as you are mainly a M1 killer that can cut chases short. Another disadvantage is that Clown is a pretty loud killer, you cant mindgame a window vault, because Clown will announce it via huffing and puffing, but thats also part of his charm.

One of his Iridescent add-ons (redheads pinkyfinger) is very strong, as a direct hit with your bottles will inflict Exposed on the survivors, but only play this for fun when you know what you are doing, not for learning him. A very good learning tool might be the information gathering add-ons like the cigar box; this also forces you to use the Antodote more, which is kinda important in Clowns game, but rather cumbersome to get used to, due to the delay.

That being said I have a lot of fun playing Clown just for the sake of his vocals and character, all this huffing and puffing, the labored breathing and laughter and the chilled chase music. If you feel like it, use the Party Bottles with the Antidote and just devolve the game into a mad chase, where everyone runs around like in a cartoon.

Imho Clown can be played serious, so he suffers a lot from the current gen smashing meta, but is especially fun, if you just want to have a chill and casual game, despite all this.

  • Not gonna making fun of you, but you actually answered your questions yourself.

By offering Killer daily rituals, at least some non-killer-mains will play a few rounds now and then, if the ritual isn't that hard.

  • So a ranged Demogorgon as a replacement for our cute Demodog? Sounds pretty much like Haku von Naruto, though. Well, I guess the concept could be improved and worked upon.

I like a snowball with a freeze effect, but the 10s freeze sounds a bit unneeded. Just let her down slowed survivors.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/297894/most-annoying-perk-item-combo-you-can-think-with-a-4-man-swf

    It depends.

    Powerful?

Two fat toolboxes with two Brand New Parts, Built to Last, Prove Thyself, one Spinechill and standard meta loadouts. Two fat medkits. CoH+Overcome.

It's possible to pop 1 gen within 14 seconds, 2 gens within 30 seconds and 3 gens before the killer even finds anyone. It's basically an 'I Win' button on some maps.

    Annoying?

Had a game this morning against a TTV SWF who brought two CoH/Overcome/Exponential loadouts, 2 flashlights and two sabo toolboxes. At the final gen, they just 99'd it and spent 30 minutes teabagging/flicking me, and the second I downed someone they'd sabo any hooks I went for, bodyblocked constantly and thanks to Exponential, there was no way for me to really slug. Eventually I just AFKed out and it took them 10 minutes more to realize that I wasn't going to let them continue to bully. I got told I was being reported for 'non participation' and cussed out in Russian and English in postgame.

    Yeah, that was pretty annoying.

Honestly, I think I played that group once, too. They were the most annoying group I ever played and they alone could be responsible for a quite a few Killer mains quitting. The group that I played fits your description, and they would constantly swarm me and wouldnt allow any small messure of success, like a singel hook. When I went AFK, they constantly made loud pallet and window vaults and flashlight clicked me for way, way, way too long a time. There is winning and there is winning, but this behaviour is utterly sapping the will to play from a Killer. You are THEIR plaything, not the other way around, and they bully you, till you break out in tears.

I think everyone's just confused at complaining stealth killers are stealthy.

Like, that's the point. They can get close without trumpeting "I AM HERE TO HURT YOU, HELLO LITTLE SURVIVORS".

I mean, if it was just an oppinion, like "I really hate those insta-down Killers like Billy, Bubba or Oni. Its not that they are overpowered, but I just dont like the mechanic. Grrr!" thats ok, anyone has their preverences. But OP went into a discussion, trying to convince us that stealth killers are (BAD WORD) and that the Tinkerer perk didn't turn anyone into a pseudo stealth killer, which I would at least object: if played right, the stealth from Tinkerer can very easily result in a down and a dispersed crowd of survivors. But eh, thats also just an opinion.

  • Thats just the influx of new players. I vividly remember my first game: the gen was exploding ALL the time and I didnt know what was happening. I ran around like startled chicken, constantly in terror, and when I touched a gen, it would explode. Of course I didnt unhook anyone, because I didnt know better.

So give it a bit time, a lot of players will just try the game out and maybe dont like it but those that stay will get the hang of it, soon.

  • But where would be the fun if you couldn't ritualistically humiliate the killer at the gate anymore, without any fear of retribution?

  • A 4K is like a flourish, the accent to a beautiful picture, the cherry on top of a game that went your way. A 2K is totally satisfactory to me, and I had 1K games that were fun. What definitely ISNT fun, though, are those games, where a sweaty, optimized and well oiled SWF team is denying you each and every measure of successand wont even allow you an occasional hook. Those teams that see it was their personal mission, to make a killers life as miserable as possible and bullying the killer into DCing.

  • Yeah. I got a cool game going, was finally catching up to my clickety clicker and literally just striking at her, when the game DCed. Feels bad, but at least I got 1/2 a nice game that didnt feel like an uphill battle with a flood crashing down said hill.

  • I had an awesome chase with her in Campbells Chapel. I chased a survivor outside of the Chapel and left a crow at the window, the surv went up the stairs, I followed and got in a hit. The surv then tried to loop me, went through the window and BAM! Dire Crow in the face, down. That was a thing of beauty and I had recovered from my strike just in time to send the crow flying. This wasnt the mindless "I will set down a crow here" shutdown that to many peeps complain about, but felt rightfully owned. I think this will be the skill ceiling with her, ie planning something like this in advance, noticing an opportunity during the heat of a chase etc.

  • Sad, but true. The killer should be the one doing the bullying, like when we all started out and where super afraid, but nowadays the killers are the survivors plaything. When you try to reach a hook and three survivors swarm you, shove you around and body block you, just to disperse once their team mate wiggles free and bolt for their boon totem, you have to ask yourself what kinda (bad word) show this is? It aint no horror movie, thats for sure.

  • Thanks for your kind words. I will try again later and be taking your advise to heart. Just to clarify: I had 3 Iridescent medals and that one gold chase medal. At Iri rank 1 you apparently need a perfect game to sack that Achievment. Survivors, though ....

  • In this case the Adept was especially depressing, because you want to try out this killers potential, but you have to play with THIS three perks, that are all over the place. And yeah, the DC thing is super frustrating. The last player gave up, when I closed the hatch and got him with a Dire Crow and I soooo wanted to give him the exit gate. I basically felt like manure downing and hooking him :(

BTW, do you feel that we got way less hooks and they are further apart? Like now hooking someone seems like a real endeavor.

She should get something similar to this

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KZ4TJJ6NFHDE/ctc.jpg

This is cursed ... yet intriguing. Dayuuum.

  • I like her and had a cool 4k game with her (sadly just got a Ruthless rating ... the Adept Artist was thiiis close), but I won because of some very easy hits with the crows. I guess once survivors played her a few more times, you will have to mind game her crows or evade, just like with Pyramidhead.

Her painhook perk is very good. I didnt like the one, that shuts down gens after the 4th hook too much, but I guess thats ok, too. The Totem resurrect perk leaves a bad taste in my mouth, like its a counterplay to a counterplay to a counterplay; just throw meta at the meta and see which meta sticks. I got a feeling that this perk will be mostly worthless, but time will tell.

It was been said a few times in the past, but I will second it: why has she NO interaction with the crows on the map? This would have been an awesome opportunity (like there will probably never come another one THIS good) to design another cool and interesting perk around crows. Most of the time, crows are okay-ish, but severely under-utilized. (BTW, spies in the shadows is one of my most beloved perks. Its helps my map awareness with most killers soo much!) Oh well, don't cry over spilled milk, but I really think that this was a wasted opportunity of colossal scale.

Besides that, I look forward to learn to play her a bit longer. Tomorrow I will try to get that darn Adept Artist achievment, before survivors wisen up to her power too much, if it aint too late already ;D

  • @FrndlyChnswSalzmn said:

No. They are doing the right thing and you are in the wrong. Deciding to not play the game screws it up for the people who, unlike you, aren't too weak to play their best and try to come back.

Nobody do what this person says. They are the kind of mentality that truly ruins this game; the kid who flips the table when he's losing at monopoly and always has a crappy, defeatist attitude.

Dayum, you are either awesome at little-trolling and just going over the top a little bit, or super based. I go for the latter. Now get in there and give the fair playing killer a mercy hook.

  • Everything said so far is true. Dire Animals are more ferocious, stronger and dangerous, then their normal counterparts. In the context of the DnD game I think, that Dire Animals are supposed to be more "wild" and "primal", ie like the original stock of that animal, whose diluted bloodline has become the "normal" version. So Dire Animals are often the leader of a pack or the leading pack within a certain region.

  • I just researched, that the KEP is a rather recent addition to the game (June 2021). This might explain, while the Trickster is in it, even though he is rather new, but probably no new Killers will be added. Thanks for the clarification, though.

  • How about making Leathal Pursuer a channal ability, like maps? It autamatically activates at the start of the game for 3s, the rest you can use by standing still and pressing a button. But besides being really strong, I guess that a lot of survivors would balk at this.

  • I had such a situation today. I played a rather relaxed Oni game and even did the fun thing where I ran after a just unhooked survivor for 10s without hitting him, till he stopped and turned to me; I like to do that to assert dominance, sometimes, but I definitely didnt tunnel anyone.

But I instadowned a fair share of survivors, and during the EGC they rescued the survivor on the hook, but then healed her right then and there. So I jumped right between them and downed both, garnering a 3K.

In the after game chat the Nancy was super salty and accused me of everything possible. I explained that in the EGC most things are fair game, especially if they heal RIGHT unter the hook!

Then the one person, who escaped, chimed in that I played an OP killer and that Oni shouldn't be played. I only have a screenshot from half the conversation, but this team was so salty that Oni pounded them into the ground. And my build was nowhere anything meta or OP, because I am just leveling him up. But it was somewhat amusing.

You cannot troll if DCing still gives a ban penalty.

You don't know the killer you are facing, if he has a toxic history or not.

Killers that have a huge survivors DC rate are just toxic. When a killer has 30 to 40% DC rate on 1000 trials, sure this player must be removed from the game.

And you can check some Fog Whisperers streamers, some of them have DC in pretty much all their games and why ? Because they are camping and hard tunneling. I can't even understand why BHVR keeps the partnership with such players. They show the bad side of the game/community and give a terrible example on how to play the game.

As a survivor i'm at a MMR where it is impossible to have a fun game, camping and tunneling 1st hook in like 80% of the trials. Expulsing a survivor that could not do anything but being tunneled for 5 minutes and die is not a tactic, it's just bullying, being toxic and it's like harassment.

As a killer, i never camp/tunnel and in the end chat the survivors often thank me for this... some even tell me that there are almost no fair killer left.

You know, the last part of your post is just the problem that both sides face and most of it stem from the SBMM: play long enough and you will blow through the "baby" ranks and soon emerge into gold and iri ranks, where the game stops being a fun and casual "lol I am only here to fool around" affair, but where the best players of the playerbase have to play sweaty, load up on meta perks and just give it their all, sometimes just to not get depipped. And there is nearly no going back, so once you are in iri, you either suck it up and keep on fooling around, accepting that the gens will just fly by and everyone loops as a god and you will be "lol ez"ed at, in the end game chat, or you adapt, play sweaty, give no corners, slug people for a minute before picking them up etc. etc.

I had people who finished all gens in 3min when I tried out Clown in the high ranks, and when I facecamped the single one that I managed to hook, just to get one small measure of success, I was yelled at and "reported" by everyone. The solution would be the option to let everyone play casual, ie with out ranks and sorta everyone in one big pool, but BEVR dont want this, as to maintain manageable waiting times.

I'm gonna suggest what I've been suggesting for years in different variations but will never be implemented because apparently I'm the only person in the world who likes these types of restrictions and differentiation among survivors.

Permanently assign one insanely good perk to each survivor, and restrict it to that survivor.

Every other non-assigned perk has to have less impact than linked ones and be balanced around each other in terms of strength.

    ---

    Example:

    • Bond becomes a Dwight-only perk and is global
    • Self-Care becomes a Claudette-only perk and takes 20 seconds to heal at base
    • Adrenaline becomes a Meg-only perk and activates on the third and last generator popped (no exhaustion applied)
    • Saboteur becomes a Jake-only perk and disables a hook for one or two minutes
    • Decisive Strike becomes a Laurie-only perk and can be used after both unhooks regardless if used before
    • Unbreakable becomes a Bill-only perk and has unlimited uses
    • Dead Hard becomes a David-only perk and has a 30s cooldown
    • Boon: Circle of Healing becomes a Mikaela-only perk and... hell, it's already broken enough
    • Power Struggle becomes an Elodie-only perk and you wiggle out 40% faster
    • Built to Last becomes a Felix-only perk and has infinite uses

    ---

This would allow you to create new meta perks since they'd all be distributed and linked to their respective survivor. You could also then buff otherwise uninteresting survivor perks to insane levels by restricting them, encouraging new ways to play and build diversity.

I also just want character differentiation for survivors really badly.

Well, now we are two: I like this a lot. Thats basically what my second idea build upon, but I penned it way more clumsier then you. This would help to establish the survivors as characters with a givin identity, and not just skins, once their perks are freed in the blood web, sorta like the different killers, and give each of them a core gameplay. But the normal way is already too established instead for them to change something profund like this.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

The DS/BT/UB meta exists because of how common it is to face killers who Camp/Tunnel/Slug. In no specific order.

When you look at it from a technical stand point, Survivors are countering playstyles that may/may not happen. There is no way to tell what type of killer you are going to get and with certain ones (Bubba, Oni, Twins) it is almost required to bring at least one of those perks.

So as long as those playstyles remain intact without any sort of built-in mechanic for survivors to have a chance, they will continue to be meta.

Same thing happens with DS, though. When I slug a survivor whom I hooked recently, I will keep them slugged, unless they vigorously shake, just in case they have DS up. This improves neither their, nor my gameplay, but I'm not risking a DS, so they keep slugging and enjoying the view from down there.

So now we have the situation that you will threat everyone as if they have loaded up on meta perks, which mostly punishes those players who don't run them, but who get slugged for 1min regardless, ie the meta to the meta.

Edit: and the 1min of DS is really long. I adopted the practice of ignoring the unhooked survivor and just chasing the unhooker, so no tunneling at all. And sometimes I down them, hook them, maybe even chase away someone else. Then the first unhooked surv shows up, I down and get hit by a 50+ seconds DS. No way was I tunneling them, so this just feels a bit odd. But whatever, U am not ranting about DS in general, just throwing ideas around.

  • I learned the way of utilizing his antidote by watching Otz's 50 win streak with Clown, and it sorta works like this:

You throw down a yellow bottle at your side of a loop, then one bottle at the survivors side and then run up to them, the change direction and run back. By this time the invigoration should kick in and you should be herding the survivor through the pink mist, giving you the double whammy that we all crave.

Clown is pretty fun to play and I massively enjoy his heavy breathing and panting plus his sinister laugh, but his power needs some getting used to.
