So what happens when a consistently skilled player ends up getting blocked by a ton of people and struggles to find a match?
If he is toxic he had it coming, skilled when you cant die? Skilled are Quake Players, nobody blocks you because you are innocent, and as I said before I you wanna tryhard this is not a competitive game, Skilled guy needs to slow down a bit.
What happens when a toxic player is ruining games and causing DCs to tons of people with those lame things I have already named?

How do you stop people from using it on opponents who are just better than them?
This is not a competitive game, just a party game so with that in mind whats being better anyway?
A killer with ultra rare addons? I watch lots of streamers and they are playing with ultra rares which is BS they should be called Ultra Common, they camp hooks and tunnel, is that being better?
Some abusive Hillbilly with Enduring Spirit Fury and Ultra Rares? some layouts dont even have pallets, I want to see devs facing those situations and tell us in the face... THEY ARE BETTER!
Its a free world, if you dont play tournaments there is no practical reason to make people play with players they dont want to.
But hey force them and they DC.

@Aikanaro I think the OW blocking thing just prevents you from being paired on the same team as another player, but it's also extremely limited on the amount you can do it. Basically only worth using on real trolls and throwers.
They should add like a 10 player block list, and you can use it on toxic killers/surv, that will make players think twice before doing something toxic like taking the game hostage.

You not caring about the consequences of DCing does not mean that excessive DCing should not be punished. I happen to like the idea NMCKE put forth.
Excessive is bad, sure and my point was when something dumb happens that wants you quit the game because its abusive and there is no way to turn it around.
Another thing that would be great to avoid these kind of situations is a player being able to block Toxic players, there are lots of those ¨streamers¨ with 40 viewers trying to ruin the game for attention, a friend told me that Overwatch lets you block players, is that true?
That would fix lots of problems in DBD, punishes a toxic player without making him de-pip or anything, since they can see who are facing they can bring the Ivory mori to kill someone because EZ.
Block toxic players should fix lots of DCs.

You can definitely apply the same principals with regards to what NMCKE suggested.
It wont work, this is a terribly toxic game full of frustrated tryhards that want to ruin solos in a second, specially in Red Ranks, the whole Killer Kills meme.
If Im gonna de-pip anyway I prefer to DC and I dont care about consequences, you cant force people to stay when devs dont fix the frustrating aspects of the game.
Getting tunneled 3 times in a row even with DS happens, and its stupid.
Bodyblocking the basement stairs is stupid too, and it happens.
Moris are stupid.
Some ultra rare addons are stupid and feel like the Killer bought the match a la Mayweather
Lots of nonsense when one side cant die and never runs out of nothing.

The problem is that people DC because they're unhappy about <X>. <X> can be pretty much anything, from just the killer they go up against (had 3 people insta DC against a Nurse which left me to just 1v1 her. She was actually very nice), to people get unhappy that they just got downed first and so they rage quit.
How do you fix things like this? Are people just not allowed to play any strong killers? Are survivors just unable to be the first one downed?
At some point the player needs to take responsibility instead of saying "it's the game's fault!".
Be mindful that DCing currently is INCREDIBLY lenient. My brother's friend DCs in at least like 20~25% of his games (and this is why we don't play with him) and to my amazement he's still not banned. This behavior of his is not exclusive to Dead by Daylight. In a fighting game, if he gets hit 3 times before he even lands a hit on the opponent, he will surrender. Not even put up a fight. It's ridiculous how much he does it.
I've seen people be banned for DCing, so I know it is a thing, but you have to do it A LOT. To make it so these people like my brother's friend don't DC, you basically have to cater the game to them and I don't think is a smart or healthy move at all. Ultimately, if they're DCing that much, and truly aren't enjoying the game, they either need to take a long break, or seek some other game they enjoy more because it's certainly not this game and ruining other people's matches isn't good, either.
I don't think anyone who doesn't serial DCs would mind if that threshold was lowered, once properly working dedicated servers were out and the game stops spontaneously crashing for no reason.
I will say however that incentives that reward good behavior is always a win win for everyone, but I don't think it should be taken much further than that. This won't stop serial DCers, but it will help keep those on the fence a bit more on the good side.
Not everyone is a complusive DCíng machine, If a game goes cheap and you are going to depip anyway, make 3k points and stuff like that maybe DC is the best thing to do.
Some killers are smart, they tunnel me after the hook and I stay still if they hit me and grab me is a DC, thank god they are getting smarter and everyone plays.

I seen Overwatch have something very cool in their DC system that would benefit Dead by Daylight greatly.
Basically, when someone DCs within the first minute in the game or so, the game is canceled and the person who DC'd gets a heavy punishment.
If someone DCs after the first few minutes or so of the game, a minute timer will start where you aren't allowed to leave the game without punishment. The person who started the timer will get a heavy punishment.
At the end of the timer, you are allowed to leave game without a punishment but you will still suffer a de-pip.
Overwatch is a FPS where you can defend yourself, DBD is a game were some toxic killer can take the game hostage by facecamping and lots of lame stuff.
You cant apply the same principles, and you cant force someone to waste time if they dont feel like it.
-
Because ¨good¨ killers cant take a little challenge, they prefer to hook camp a little far from there and wait until 3 other survs go for the save.

It’s just legalized.
Is not about legal or illegal, you want randoms because its easier to you and thats it, you prefer to hook someone and then 3 guys go for the save leaving what they were doing, all kind of crap happens when there is no communication at all except 2 dumb signs.
Game is never 4 vs 1 anyway, survs dont have the individual power to fight a killer so its 1 vs 1 + 1 + 1 + 1.

Feel free to provide any quotes backing up that claim. You'll find that it is actually Billy who sets the bar.
Feel free to provide 584 quotes backing Billy as the one setting the bar.
Nobody wants to nerf Nurse and everyone says her base kit is balanced, and as soon you buff every other killer you ruin rank 5 to 20.
I said it a trillion times, if a killer cant beat a 4 SWF with 3k hours each, well every game has its limits, its dumb to try to limit skilled players even more to make them look like noobs when you have a guy running with a chainsaw like a ferrari, a spirit and a nurse being everywhere, even cheap addons from huntress cause exhaustion, too much is too much.
-
@Tzeentchling9 said:

If that was true, why are so many people asking for buffs for those Killers? Killers players want to play their beloved Killers and allow more diversity, it's only Survivors who can't handle anything more complicated than Nascar calling for nerfs.
Because they want every killer at Nurse level so the bar is set by a broken killer, bad idea in a terribly toxic game.
-
@Tzeentchling9 said:
No one is stopping you from advocating buffs for other killers to allow more diversity.
It wont make any difference, the most OPed killer is broken it goes thru walls ceilings/everything and the other one almost does the same, nobody will bother using regular killers for an EZ peazy game.
Buff them is a waste of time, better nerf the OPed and broken so they invest more time in the game to learn those other killers that are ¨garbage¨.

And the original poster has a spirit icon may we say anything else lmaoooo
I would love to see OP as a surv with his counters vs a skilled Spirit, so we get schooled and admire how a Spirit can be evaded and looped for 2 hours.
-
@Mister_Holdout said:
My only main qualm with red rank survivors is their use of broken loops.
When survivors have 2000+ hours invested in the game, they tend to know how to abuse maps really well. Those survivors are not fun to play against because all they are doing is taking advantage of bad map design.
Keep in mind, I'm not trying to detract from their looping skills. Some of those survivors are genuinely good, as such, they should be hard to catch. But when you add their looping skills to really strong loops, that's when all the fun immediately vanishes.
Campering Tunneling Slugging and Bodyblocking are bad designed things too, if a survivor find ways to keep alive good for him/her, so far killers cant be killed.
-
Perfectly balanced...
-
@johnmwarner said:
It doesn’t matter how many they are, it’s how absolutely safe some of them are creating long loops that require breaking them. The short ones that let you and the survivor mind game each other and land a hit are one of the most fun parts of the game to me
Thats because you want the EZ way, lots of fun when you dont risk even mind games.
-
Pallets are racist, homophobic and nazis.
Lets remove them from the game.
-
8 if you are 13 is Ok, but a rank 5 is too much and not because of skills, because the algorithm is doing something wrong.
-
I play solo and it depends, sometimes I search the totem because after being a few seconds doing a gen my team mate fails the skill check a lot, and sometimes I do the ruin gen because Im alone.

Sorry, but Kate and Jeff have been pretty much paired by everyone, what's so wrong with just asking for someone to represent us LGBT. It's not like I asked Dwight to be transgendered or something. And no we don't have "enough representation. Statistics say that 1/10 people are gay, there is over 10 survivors, so who would you most think fits?
I believe it to be David. He's rough, but deep down (in his lore) he protects his friends. Showing that even the most masculine men can have a soft spot. I'm just saying that because yes, I may be projecting myself into him. But as I said. I 100% see myself in him.
When you protect your friends its because they are like brothers to you, not because you are soft.. you just care about them.
-
@dfrenchiee said:
Mathieu has already said that at least one of the survivors is gay, but they aren't going to say who; so you are free to believe whoever you want is gay. Its up for interpretation.
If they went ahead and said "David is gay" that might make some people upset just like if they had said that "Dwight is straight"
Nea.
-
Nothing wrong, but nothing right at the same time.
Because you are gay it doesnt mean everybody is, I´ve been playing videogames for the last 30 years, since I was 3 and never cared about sex orientation just the damn game.
DbD is a game with a fat chick and a big belly dude, chicken nerdy dude with glasses, Nea looks lesbian, muscular alpha dude, a gambler, a quiet asian with silent/stealth perks, an asian girl, we only need an australian with a crocodile dundee hat and we have every stereotype on earth.
A character is not better or worse because of sex orientation, so please stop this LGTB nonsense.

If there are a million ways to counter something and you just want it nerfed so you don't have to counter it that just means you're bad. It's just annoying at this point, seriously
I was being sarcastic, can you read properly?
Spirit and Nurse are OP, and YOU killer mains are the ones making those counter excuses everywhere.
Killers cant die, can run ultra rare addons that make the game lame and on top of that you play Killers that break the game with teleports and ultra fast travels while seeing scratchmarks blood and pain grunts.
But its annoying because everything can be countered.

The game isn't balanced around the idea of Survivors being able to get up normally. That's why the ability to do it once is a perk, and the ability to do it repeatedly is a perk with downsides.
Is not normally, but whats the idea then?
To have a Billy or a Huntress with Iridiscent Head playing tryhard downing everyone on 2 minutes because Killers kill?
-
@TAG said:

Right, so just use No Mither if you really want to avoid being slugged that badly.
No, they need to fix the game and rework No Mither, survivors are fighters just like in those terror movies, not some coward chickensh*ts, a surv wants to play to be able to have a fair chance like those movies, not to be some bots with no mechanics at all.
You need to make changes this game in its current state sucks, who the hell uses Small Game in 2019?
They made that perk when game had like 4 killers, and I still see it in my bloodweb when Im prestiging survs, it needs to go or they got to fusion it with another useless perk.
-
@TAG said:

That's what Unbreakable is for, no?
Once per trial, if we want to eliminate slugging it needs to be every time someone wants to leave you there more than 20 sec you can get up.
The end game is so pathetic that killers wants to slug one surv and get the last man standing, if you leave that surv he needs to get up, you hook and take your chances to get that surv before they reach the hatch, or you will have to chase 2 guys.
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/731344#Comment_731344
X needs to be a super long amount of time if you're not using a perk. You shouldn't be able to get up normally in a reasonable amount of time.
Base Kit BT would make it so bad saves can never be punished, so I wouldn't be in favor of it.
When you slug to leave a surv 4 minutes doing nothing is not good for anyone either, there is a person behind that character wasting time, or you hook them or they need to get up, maybe BT base kit is too much, but they need to get up.
-
@TAG said:
One of the issues is that sabotaging was nerfed because it proved to be too frustrating a strategy, which led to lots of slugging. I don't think the devs want to go in that direction again.
Because they need to eliminate slugging, after X amount of time you can get up and if he insists in down you again you have a base kit BT, devs are so scared when it comes to apply mechanics that punish killers.
-
@Blueberry said:
So survivors who tunnel gens lose 2 pips as well? You have to switch gens every 25% of progress. Deal? That's how terrible this idea is.
Survivors who tunnel gens dont pip and in red ranks you are mostly depipping even if you manage to escape.
Also, gens cant be hooked, cant be tunneled, cant be slugged, cant depip, dont have BBQ Ruin Noed etc.

Well before the public realized it, it was the competitive meta to use OoO on all killers but spirit and Nurse. Before the fast vault nerf, it was possible to fast vault reverse cowtree and long 4 walls making it impossible to get a hit in with M1s. Those are a few.
OoO is for experienced players, and its a great tool or at least if you feel like it can be a lot of fun, even if you die quick.
And Spirit can be countered even when she is a Top 3 killer, but with Nurse I dont feel you have lots of tools to avoid her, and all I see here is Nurse mains tryhards defending their broken killer with tooth and nails.

I don't know how you'd know what the top survivors vs a top nurse would do against each other given no items or addons or offerings. Sure, I acquiesce that maps do play a large part, but I'm fairly sure you haven't seen a team that has such experience against Nurse. You can't just say a god Nurse will beat anyone and anything without taking into consideration the types of counters survivors can employ. Fact is, most public games are filled with people who don't necessarily want to learn a different way of countering a killer other than the method that is most prevalent today (looping, pallets, and windows). Sure you probably have never experienced it. But I implore you to actually consider it given the person you're talking to has a vast amount of experience beyond public matches. There are a wealth of strategies that competitive survivors employ, not all being in the realm of public knowledge.
Well, please illustrate us with your Dev knowledge from outworld.

Completely agree.
The game shouldn't be detecting a pallet hit.
There should not be a pallet hit, but if it happens there should not be a free hit.
If the game takes the pallet stun, why then proceeds like nothing happened, also I think given the situation (Nurse is the most OPed killer) game should give the survivors the benefit.
Is not like we have 5 dead hards to fool around, while Nurse has unlimited chances to make mistakes.

You are correct. Game is buggy.
You shouldn't be getting those 1000 points.
If I can predict a fast teleporting killer is there I drop the pallet and the game agrees with my action there should be no free hit at all.
Broken.

Your timing is off. You need to stun her while she swings or charging.
Is not off if Im making the stun way before getting hit, thats why she is broken in lots of ways.
If I do it when she swings Im gonna get more chances to get hit, thats how the game works.

Yes if the nurse is good eventually you're going to get caught... you cant play the game and expect to never get caught.
You are missing the whole point, I stun her and still she appears and hits me while the game says I made a killer stun, makes no sense at all... its like she has mega Enduring in her base kit.

Because If Im gonna get downed at least I can try to stun her and buy some time, but its broken, why you want to omit that fact?
-
Agreed, breaking that shroud is pretty buggy and he has been for a while, so make the center bigger because its pretty frustrating.
Most GF noobs hook and camp from a distance to down the guy that goes to unhook, becoming pretty much an unhook simulator.
Or at least make shroud cooldowns, once I broke the shroud and in 5 seconds he did it again...

Just because a character is strong and challenges oppenent doesnt mean they need nerf.... it means the competition needs to adapt and get better if their struggling

Winning the chase? the chases are meant to be finished thats why most of them have 115% speed, if someone slugs there should be a penalization, like camping or tunnelling.
Chases can be ended by the killer winning, they can be ended by the survivor breaking line of sight and losing the killer, and they can be ended by the survivor escaping the match. It is not inevitable that the killer wins a chase; it is only inevitable that they win the chase if all the survivor does is run forward.
Dont forget there are also casual survivors and Im pretty sure they dont like to get hooked 3 times in a row because some clown think its funny while having other 3 players to chase.
Removing the timer from DS would not change that. Borrowed Time, Babysitter, and the current DS are the best counters survivors currently have to being tunneled.
In order to actually prevent tunneling, core gameplay mechanics would have to be changed. In the meantime, the game could at least provide a real tutorial for killers. Right now, tunneling a survivor out of the game is the obvious way to play. Nowhere in the game does it teach killers to spread the pain. Whittling down the survivors' numbers makes the most sense to a new player. Sure, some killers do it because they like the salt, but many killers do it because the game never taught them any other way.
Pretend they are victims is too much
I never claimed killers were victims: I just said DS without a timer would basically punish killers for playing the game. Future conditional, not present tense.
I also said it would promote toxic behavior on both sides; everyone would suffer. I don't want to be punished because some other survivor equipped DS.
I recently started using DS to help with tunneling killers. It has greatly extended the amount of time I spend within a match. Sure, some killers will chase me down again, but the head start gives me a good chance to break line of sight and juke the killer. It has been extremely helpful, and I'm in no way a good survivor. If the current DS can help me, it can help anyone.
I don't think the devs would ever change DS to make it stronger, anyway; there'd be an uproar. I'm hoping in the future the game will introduce something that will help prevent (not punish) tunneling. And not another band-aid perk but a real change, something that could help make the game more fun for everyone. Or they could at least update the tutorial so it does more than show killers how to pick up a survivor and put them on a hook.
Exactly, prevent is a better term than punish, I agree.
