The best example is Legion. In their main lore they were kids who wanted to terrorize Ormond not by killing, but by making chaos. They stole ,,Stop" signs, wrecked some stores and robbed some places. Never intending to hurt anyone. Then they kill a Janitor, but its becouse Frank made them do it. Also he was saving Julie. But in one of Suzie's cosmetic we learn that she STABBED a random seller to steal a Jacket.
What is the point of making a lore for lost kids manipulated by ,,Older cooler kid" into killing one person into making a lore about generic 4 man swf with knifes. Doesn't make sense at all
The way I understand it from the Tomes and outfits lore changes is that there is multiple parallel universes and the Entity takes inspiration from all of them. So while the main lore is that, there are other parallel universes where the Entity did not take them... and that's where that story of Susie comes from. Just like there is a parallel universe where a bunch of the characters were at the Fire Moon Festival and Trickster was a performer there.... but that was a world where the Entity didn't take him from. So when the Entity puts Susie in her Year of the Rat outfit even though they were probably taken in 1994 or 1995, the 2020 outfit is inspired from a Susie that was probably from 1996 (which was also Year of the Rat.)

I think the solution is to simply make the White Mirror a side item similar to Sadako's VHS Tape. Any and all quest items should not take the place over an actual item in my opinion.
While I agree, part of the point I think is that you can't trade it for any other item because its worth 25,000 BP. So part of the challenge is to escape with it, you get that 25,000 bonus. I agree it sucks, but.... I see why it is the way it is.

Monitor and Abuse expands during a chase. Spawning inside the terror radius seems not great for the game. I would understand it if it were on a smaller map with two stories, like Midwich or the Meat Packing Plant.
Well right, but Monitor & Abuse's decrease would be negated by Distressing, then when you get into a chase, especially on a small map like Gideon or Dead Dawg, then it gets silly.
-
I mean that's possible, especially with Distressing. Even more so on a smaller map like Dead Dawg or Midwich. Wesker with Distressing is horrendous on Dead Dawg, you're pretty much always in his terror radius. Throw on Monitor and Abuse too and it just gets silly.
-
From what I understand, you'll need to gather energy during the match, then go to special portals to deposit the energy as survivor. Not 100% sure what the killer side is, might be the same, might be like the Killer's goal is to steal the energy?
-
There is already an acknowledged post about this.
-
Yes, that is a thing with Franklin's Demise, it's not a bug. It only protects the item you are carrying it when you die. Same with the White Ward addon.

How about insta mori (like tombstone) survivors that are pallet-looping next to a hung survivor?
That's about as extreme on the other end as my friend's suggest to give 0 BP for a killer than 'camps' a survivor.
-
So, this bug is still really weird looking and hasn't been even acknowledged. Surely I am not the only Haddie player to notice this?
-
@Adjatha said:
How about a penalty to survivors who bomb-dive the hook 0.001 seconds after the killer has hooked a survivor, trying to farm their own team mates?
A not insignificant number of people complaining about 'camping' literally do not give the killers any time to walk away and think they should just get free unhooks all day long. Punishing people who can't stay hidden for 3 seconds will do a lot more to 'solve camping' than a lot of people realize.
Oh yea, I hate that too don't get me wrong, but that's also why a friend's idea that the killer loses all BP for the match would be absolutely bad.
But as I said above, I play both Killer and Survivor, and I am not talking about what salty survivors cry that I am camping them in end-game chat. What I am talking about here is those that are actively facecamping and not even bothering to go look for others when nobody is near you. Like, use Starstruck as an example. If you are unable to get any value from Starstruck (whether you are actually running it or not doesn't matter in my case) you should not be standing at the hook.
Maybe if other survivors are around the hook, progression goes back to normal? That way it wouldn't punish the killer for those dumb survivors that loop the killer around the hook (I HATE that as survivor, I've died on hook because of that.)
-
Hey, if people DC, they lose more than you do. No, just because a survivor DCed doesn't obligate me as a killer to stop playing the game and let you all win. You can get salty as you want in end game chat, I don't care. So, a DC isn't hurting me, it's HELPING ME. Maybe I'll get a few K less XP, but you're still making the game overall easier for me.
That's why I think that those who said above that people just don't know how and don't want to learn how to play against Legion just get salty every time the killer is Legion. That doesn't mean Legion needs a rework it means survivors need to stop getting salty and disconnecting every time the game doesn't go their way.
That, or killers just need to start following The Survivor Rule Book for Killers.

I don't understand what is supposed to happen if the survivor is knocked to the ground and the killer isn't next to them. When happens if a survivor is knocked to the ground by deep wounds? By a honing stone trapper trap? By a trickster knife?
They just said. Apparently if all survivors are in some way incapacitated or dead, the last survivor downed will instantly be Moried and the other survivors will be sacrificed. Game over. The ability to pick yourself up from the slugged state after 45 seconds will be basekit. So the killer can slug, but not for more than 45 seconds.

oh so basically just a yellow mori as basekit, quite the rework :\
You will be instantly mori as soon as you are downed. No choice for the killer to hook you or take you to hatch.

I mean, that happens, but then it's not really on purpose, in my opinion. I more mean reasons people quit because the game isn't going their way. Like a week or so ago my power went out in my entire neighborhood as I was being carried to first hook... i imagine the other survivors were angry, they probably thought I was salty. :(

I'm sorry, but this isn't affecting the community as a whole. A recent poll on Reddit showed that a overwhelming majority have not seen an increase in cheaters and most people have only seen 1 or 2 cheaters in thousands of hours of gameplay.
You all have been making some great improvements in the last few years, please keep going and don't get distracted by the few who are abusing their influence for their own personal gain. Please do what benefits the entire community, not the 1%.
Just because you haven't doesn't mean others haven't. I play with friends who are streamers and so I see it quite often because they end up getting targeted.

No, it's still not a bug. Yes, it says that because they didn't remove that part, but you will notice that the 3 perks are not at the top like they are on other blood webs and the description it says that everyone gets the perks now. The developers have flagged this as "not a bug" because it isn't. Full stop.

It takes 4 minutes to bleed out when in the dying state. The minimum DC penalty is 5 minutes, and it goes up from there. So, when you rage quit by DCing, you're only hurting yourself. Yea, being slugged for 4 minutes sucks, but being unable to enter another queue for 5+ minutes, how is that not worse?
As for more punishment than there already is, I think not. The fact remains that sometimes you DC and it's not your fault. Tuesday nights when Steam does maintenance this can happen. Or another example, last week I was being carried to my first hook and my neighborhood power went out. Like, I am sure the killer and the other survivors were very annoyed with me, as they should be. They had no idea WHY I disconnected and neither did the game itself.

I was hoping they would reconsider the Mori rework, so many of us hate it, but... probably not.

You asked a question for people who DC and speculative on why they would DC. You have this weird notion that I want to punish the killer, I don't. I just want to play the game. Can't play if I am on the ground for 10+ minutes.
My bad, you didn't say that, true. Though a lot of people above did. They basically said that they want to punish the killer so they don't get the 4K they need for their ego boost. However there is one flaw in your assessment, you will never be on the ground for 10+ minutes. It takes 4 minutes to bleed out if the killer does not pick you up. So the base 5min DC penalty is longer.

There is no wiggle, the killer never picks you up. They want you on the ground and let one survivor pick up others so they can be slugged again over and over. Unfortunately it's a snowball effect in solo queue because the survivor will come for you. This forces me to DC. Does this happen often? No. Hence why I'd rather just wait the 5 mins at the screen. I'm not losing much at all but I am keeping my sanity.
Okay, like I said, you're not punishing the killer, you are just making it easier for them.

I'll DC if the killer is just slugging, just gets too boring. I've ran into killers that slug 3 people, let the other person get someone up and keep going that way. If that's fun to you, you do you, but I'm not going to wait around.
Its not fun, no. But there is a chance you could wiggle out. There is a chance you could get the 4%, etc. When you DC you get NOTHING and you have to wait 5 or more minutes before you can even re-queue. The maximum amount of time you can bleed on the ground is 5 minutes, sooo.... you're going to have to not play for 5 minutes either way, why not get at least some points for it?
Plus, I've both had and seen matches were all 4 survivors are swarming the hook trying to get the save, etc... What am I supposed to do, go to the other side of the map and wait for them to get the unhook before I chase anyone again? No, I'm going to chase those who are there, especially if they are carrying flashlights or grenades or toolkits to sabo hooks.

I don't care about what Mr. baby quitter DCer thinks about me or my playstyle, I care about the poor guys who were unfortunate enough to have him as a teammate.
I've been there, man. A lot. Watching someone DC less than a minute in and wonder why the hell I even queued up. Usually it ends with us being slaughtered like normal. I watched the last guy almost get out once, only to get mori'd directly in front of the exit.
It's rough. I have no choice but to sympathize.
I mean, I get that, I play survivor too, however I base my thoughts on each side knowing things from each side.... So yea, when I am on a survivor and the killer doesn't meme with us when we have a DC, I don't blame the killer, I blame the other survivor. Same when I am the killer. I'm not going to throw the game and quit playing just because someone DCed, or else I'd be memeing every other match lately. People will DC as soon as they hear Legion chase music.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I actually have a VERY easy to exploit guilty conscience, and if someone DCs 30 seconds into a match after I down them for making a dumb mistake?
I feel bad! I can't kill them anymore, i'd be worse than a murderer-- a jerk. I HAVE to let them go at that point. And that takes time!
So please cut it the hell out. For my sake. I don't want to queue up for another 5 minutes only to bump into the least committed player in DbD for the third time today.
I used to be that way, but it happens so often now, heck I even made a post here on these forums asking why they do it, and mostly all amounted the the same thing... They don't like your playstyle, they are punishing you for playing in a way they don't like. So you need to get over your conscience and do your job as killer. I know its hard, it was for me. Heck, I still can't bring myself to tunnel or camp, even at end game. But a DC to me is just an easy kill. Don't let them "punish" you.
-
Okay, so I've gotten quite a few responses, and mostly they amount to the same reason... To punish the killer for "sweating for the 4K" or such. Which, okay.
Thing is, are you really punishing the killer? They get a quitter bonus, so pretty much close to the same BP reward... and since they don't get that kill, their MMR doesn't go up as much... which means their next match won't be as difficult as if they got that 4K. Now, yes if they are going for the 4K purely for ego reasons, sure. But... when you DC, especially on first or second hook, you're just screwing the remaining survivors and at worst the killer's MMR doesn't' go up as much, you're not punishing the killer at that point.
In fact, most killer mains I know see a DC counting as a kill. It might not as a game mechanic to increase MMR, but for "Ego" purposes? That's a kill. You didn't escape.
-
Yea, it's all canon and also kind of not? Like there are many alternate universes and many of the outfits are as such. Like if you go 100% by the Legion base lore, then they were taken right after their first kill. Well, if that's the case then there is no way that Susie was in Chinatown during the Year of the Rat to steal her "New Year's Shoplifter" outfit and stab a guy in an alley. So, my theory at least is that The Entity takes them, and then kind of merges all of the realities they exist in. So again, my theory, but while Nurse and Wraith may not have met in The Entity's realm, they have in one of the many multiverse dimensions.
-
Actually, IMO it's heavily implied The Entity IS the god that Plague worshipped all her life. Remember, in the lore it was actually her mentor that lost faith, he realized that the god they worshipped was evil, but she didn't believe it, so she killed him for blasphemy. Then same with Artist, the Entity has been by her side since forever. It was noted by many players that there are no crows native to South America, and so I think that's still true, but the crows that Artist saw were sent by the Entity to watch her. I also think, though it does not say, that when she went inside, the crows grabbed her little brother and dropped him in the river, the same as they did to save her from her suicide.

Seems this bug is back. Just had it happen vs. a Hillbilly. Soon as I realized it I stopped running and let him hook me (still tried to wiggle out this time normally) not going to take advantage of a bug.

For me, the nurse Achievement to blink and grab I've resigned myself to not getting. I play on console and that just seems too difficult.
A lot of the Killer Adept ones. They are so broken when actually using the Killer's power hurts you.
This is OhTofu, a Fog Whisperer with all the Legacy outfits, but he never bothered to try for the Adept achievements. So he's going through and doing them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gzk9pOi2VKII have said and I will say again... all survivors have to do is escape. They can evade and sneak around all match, not do a darn thing, then have the hatch spawn right by them and bam. Adept earned. Yet a Killer has to have a perfect +2 Pip game. It really needs to be get a 4K by any means. Like one example, one of my very first Pig games I ran Video Tape and Crate of Gears. The survivors didn't bother to even try to remove their traps and all 4 heads popped. I didn't get adept because I didn't hook them enough times. I literally used Pig's power, to it's peak.... and that doesn't count? I did get it later, but it was by ignoring her power all together. That shouldn't be necessary to get an Adept!

Making skins accessible for purchase with in-game currency is awesome and should've been by default. Making a previously accessible rift skin an Amazon Prime reward on the other hand is just plain scummy.
Thing is, they aren't the first to do it that, and they've done it only once so far. Another game which I won't name directly had about a year worth of "Prime" skins and about 70% at least were past event skins. They did have a few that were brand new, but they are all purchasable in the game after their Prime promotion ended (though they are expensive) same as nearly ever other skin in the game (a few are no longer able to be obtained in any way, but none of them are Prime offerings.)
While I realize it's not something players like that they did, neither did I, all the players acting like BHVR did some horribly deceptive thing that there is no precedent for, it's just not the case.

Sign me up, just had the issue myself. Map was Swamp (no map offerings) running Judith's Journal, Memorial Flower, Perks are Iron Grasp, NOED, Rancor, and Starstruck. Offering was a purple coin.

I never said it was their job. It's BHVR job to improve problems in the game.
You are literally asking them to make it so that if you screwed up and lost the game, should still win. Because you somehow deserve the win even when you (and your team) didn't manage to do what was necessary to win. If you were in a race and the other racer was at the finish line, what they should slow down and give you a chance to catch up? Of course not, that would be monumentally stupid. It's no different here. You lost. Get over it and move on to your next game.

No that's not fair, this is a video game and people want to have fun. If killer dominated the bad teammates, the good survivor should be able to have a CHANCE at doing something to escape. Right now touching a gen with 2 survs left is death.
I really really hate to say this, as I hate players who say this, but... Sometimes it needs to be said. It's not the other players job to make sure you have fun.
Plus, you say that touching a generator with 2 survivors left is death, but that's not the case unless you as survivors messed up. There is a situation called a "3 gen" where all 3 remaining generators are on the same side of the map. If you do this, you lost and it's your fault. Take the loss and learn from your mistakes.
-

I really only disconnect if the game is being held hostage somehow. Such as players hiding for over 30 minutes and not doing gens, or the killer bodyblocking me in the corner or doing the "pick you up and drop you then down you, then pick you up and drop you then down you" thing. I do occasionally disconnect if I'm in a bad mood and the killer is making everyone bleed out on the ground, instead of participating in normal gameplay (I can eat the penalty, because that's gonna be my last game that day anyway).
If I'm playing against a skilled killer and my teammates are Urban Evading potatoes hanging out in the corner, I'm committing become not alive on hook. No reason to DC since I can leave the game naturally, and no reason to waste my time trying to carry 3 useless teammates and essentially 1v1 the killer and solo all five gens.
Yea, see that makes some sense at least, but more and more lately I see a survivor gets outplayed in a chase, they DC. They get hooked, they DC. They DC in the middle of the Mori animation. Like, I've had some really sus looking disconnects that were absolutely not my fault. About a week ago, while I was being carried to my first hook, my power went out in my neighborhood. As annoyed as I was, I was laughing too, as the timing was just so hilarious. It happens, but... I don't believe it happens as often as it is more and more lately.

How do you know i'm tunneling?
Because you know they have Off the Record.
A survivor under an Endurance Buff cannot do ANYTHING except evade you. They added "Conspicuous Actions" to Endurance effects. If a survivor does anything like touching a generator, bless/cleanse a totem, heal another survivor, unhook another survivor... the Endurance effect deactivates. So a survivor wanting to maximize their Off the Record value is completely useless. It doesn't need to be removed or nerfed, it's actually in a way more useful tot he killer, as long as they are not tunneling.
-
I've never been higher than Gold IV and I rarely even get out of Silver on either side. Everyone tells me that it's just a matter of how much you play, but no it's not.
I am not a selfish player, though I have started to be more lately, and honestly this is the reason. I realized that my problem was that I was being too altruistic. I was being a team player. I was saving my teammates when they get hooked. I was taking protection hits, then getting hooked myself... then they don't return the favor, and I depip.
So like others have said, do we really want to encourage me to be selfish and make sure I survive, others on my team can get rekt? Cause really that's what is seeming like.
Killer side is similar. I don't camp and I don't tunnel, so many times because I don't, I might get 1K in a match, but because I didn't get that kill bonus I depip. So if I want to not depip, I need to camp and tunnel to create the pressure needed to secure my 4K. SO I need to camp and tunnel... yet I don't because I think that kind of gameplay is not fun for me and not fun for survivors especially.
Call me idealistic, but this is a game. It should be fun, not just for me but for you too. But too many players have this "It's not my job to make sure you have fun." idea, and while technically true, it's a big reason why Dead by Daylight is one of the most toxic communities. This isn't how it should be.

Refusing to kill a survivor and working with them so they can escape, is not within the rules of the game. You're not supposed to work with survivors. You're actually breaking the rules.
There is a difference between letting the last survivor escape and working with the survivors. I usually do go for the full 4K lately, but if someone I think played really really well, I might give them hatch or let them go. That's not 'working with them.'

Not to say that every killer is playing super sweaty, but lately when I load up the game it always has blood point incentives for survivor. We're talking 100% blood point incentive. With that kind of incentive and BBQ being nerfed, I definitely don't want to be playing killer. But maybe I should because every single match is just tunnel after tunnel after tunnel.
I'm a casual DBD player at best, but SBMM puts me into matches that I clearly don't belong in. Can we please have the bots already, because this #########'s getting old.
The incentives are there because not enough players are playing survivor. Probably because yea nobody wants to with all the camping and tunneling. Killer mains are at a point now that most of them don't give a rat's behind about anyone but themselves. They forget this is a game vs real players, not bots. Now, it is not my job to make sure you have fun, that's the truth of the matter. But... if survivor players are not having fun, they are going to stop playing, and that right there is why the survivor side has a pretty much permanent +100% these days, because killer mains are all being selfish jerks.
I play both sides and so i try to play in a way that everyone can have fun, especially as killer. However, in doing so I am getting 4 survivors that are so used to being camped and tunneled, that... they play asssuming I am going to do that... and it's not therefore fun for me... It's a real catch 22 right now.
BHVR realizes this and they are trying to deincentivize camping and tunneling for the game's health, but there is only so much they can do as long as the DBD playerbase is selfish, and we are. We all are.
-
Honestly, if the killer is facecamping me and it's obvious he's doing so, I'm just going to suicide on hook. There is no point in wasting my time for less than 5k BP and a depip when that's inevitiable. So I just take that and move on to the next match. Is it selfish to suicide on hook and make it easier for the killer to kill the rest of the survivors? Sure. But not as selfish as the killer is being. If I am in a match with friends, yea I will stay to help them, but solo queue? I'm not wasting my time, and I don't blame others who don't want to do so either.
Now, when i am playing killer, I don't normally tunnel (a few exceptions, like those that are clicky clicky with flashlights, you're literally wanting me to chase you, I am going to. Don't claim I am tunneling you after) or camp (hell, even in end game I don't and that's the one time I think it's reasonable) and yet I still have survivors suicide on hook, and it's that I don't understand.
-
These "Use this trash perk with no other perks and escape" challenges I really hate. They are honestly so low effort challenges to create. Give me another Blind the Killer 5 times or such. That's at least a challenge worth doing. Especially with how Self-Care was nerfed, using Self-Care is screwing over your team.

Well, that's also what they did with the new Attack on Titan skins... at least survivor wise. They are not the characters, they are Meg, Dwight, etc dressed as the characters.

They ARE in the game though, sort of. Each of the original Dead by Daylight characters has an outfit based on the characters from Left 4 Dead. Take a look, you will find them.
For example, here is Ellis, played by Dwight. (Screenshot taken from the Wiki)

I'd honestly like to see them expand past just Greek and bring in Norse. A Hel skin especially I'd love to see.

Honestly I've been saying for over a year that the problem is that some players are not able to play killer due to motion sickness caused by first person gaming. So, these players main survivor and only survivor, they get screwed out of the daily challenges because the literally cannot play killer due to an actual physical condition, and don't anyone dare suggest taking dramamine or whatever, as one shouldn't have to take medication to be able to play a video game unless they choose to.
-
It's because the killer tends to have more power over the game, most of the time. Even if the survivors "Gen Rush" the heck out of the killer, they will at the very least get chase points, whereas the killer can camp and tunnel one survivor and get a lot of points, the others do to but that one survivor that got camped? Sucks to be you (or me actually, it's 9/10 times me) enjoy your less than 4k BP.

With regards to the point about hook timer being paused if the killer is nearby. This was something that was tested some years ago and found to not work - it's very easily abusable. A survivor running in an area around the hook, killer chasing - that would pause the timer for example. Which is something out of control of the killer.
Whilst I completely agree that players should be encouraged not to camp, I do not feel that punishing for camping should be the route we go down (please bear in mind this is purely my own opinion here)....it should still remain player choice whether they wish to camp or not.
Maybe only pause if the killer is not in a chase with the same radius as to how the emblem proximity to hook occurs? That way, it couldn't be abused by survivors swarming the hook, but would still keep killers from constantly camping.
Because honestly, everyone tells me "Grade is not indicative of your skill level, it's just how often you play the game" and so I must have negative 100 skill or something because I play more than most streamers I know and I've yet to make it past Gold IV EVER, usually don't get past the silver ranks most months. Why? Because of how much I get camped and tunneled in nearly every match. Did I do well in one match? Great, doesn't matter because I'll be camped and tunneled my next five. So the whole "Grade is indicative of how much you play, not your skill" only is the case if you are not constantly losing your progress due to camping and tunneling.

No, I don't think so.
Tunneling is, and always has been, a strategy. An annoying and looked down upon strategy, but a strategy nonetheless. And, just like every single strategy, is completely optional.
Tunneling has never been caused by Survivors. It is up to the killer to decide whether or not he will tunnel, keeping in mind the situations where tunneling is the only possible move in order to win.
The only situation where tunneling is caused by Survivors is when they make the mistake of refusing to leave a dangerous area, or things like trying to fix a generator you are actively defending.
Outside of those situations, no. Tunneling is 100% within the killer's control.
Exactly. The way I see it, if you are at a point where Decisive Strike would no longer be active, I'm not obliged to go out of my way to hook someone else before I am allowed to hook you again. I say that as both a Susie main on killer side and a Claire main survivor side.

Thanks for the video, hopefully clown will get a KILL SWITCH on Monday. I wish they could do it now, but last time there was a bug like this, apparently only the higher up Developers can make that call, and they have weekends off.
