  • I mean, I really wouldn't. In a lot of ways he's a meme killer, as he does what he does in the movie. Nobody plays Myers because he's OP, they play him because they are fans of Halloween and his playstyle. Plus, add that he has the Tombstone and Fragrant Tuft of Hair addons, and.... yeah. He's in no way weak, even without said addons.

  • As I'm sure others have said, the main problem with nurse is that she's one of the few (if not the only) killers whose power counts as a basic attack.

As Pig I move slightly faster for a short time and I hit a survivor, I don't instantly down them even with Exposed, because Exposed requires a basic attack.

Yet, Nurse literally TELEPORTS to the survivor faster than Pig can even blink (pun not intended) and because she then gets a basic attack, the survivor is downed instantly.

So yea, as both a Killer and Survivor player, I think the main change that needs to happen with Nurse is to bring her in line with every other killer and make her attacks count as special attacks until after her fatigue.

I think that's a game mechanic. It's like with 'heal X healthstates' = we'll pair you against an afk killer.

    'blind the killer' = lightborn

not having any genregression on a slow killer? welcome to the yamaoka family estate

Yea. I run Distortion and almost never get any value because it's always either a stealth killer or they just aren't bringing aura perks. But the second I take Distortion off, oh look BBQ and Lethal Pursuer.

  • Correct. It's basically a "fake" terror radius on the survivor combined with undetectable on you.

  • Not in the way I imagine you are thinking. Distressing affects YOUR terror radius and Dark Devotion moves your terror radius to the survivor set at 32m. In fact, if you run Dark Devotion and no other perks on Wesker, even with his 40m terror radius, Dark Devotion will still set the terror radius on the survivor to 32m.

I got banned for griefing but I have no idea how I wasn't doing anything abusive never trying to ruin another's game experience so I would like some idea of what are the specifics of griefing the only thing I can think of is at one point a survivor sold out anothers location and I let him live for it is that classified as griefing.

I mean, yes. That's technically "working with the killer" which if the survivor you killed reported you for it, then its' possible though I've never heard of anyone actually being banned for it without showing a pattern of it.

But, as was said, you really need to do a ban appeal as nobody here, not even the mods can tell you what you did to get banned. Only the BHVR in-game moderation staff know why they banned you.

  • I think actual direct real people, no but inspiration, yeah. Like others have said, Doctor was based off a real Chinese doctor (however Chinese players said China would ban the game if he went live, so that's when BHVR rewrote his lore to be a black man instead and had him involved in the CIA's MK Ultra mind control experiments instead.) Then like was said, clown is totally inspired by John Wayne Gacy... He's a serial killer clown.

I would say that as BHVR are aware of it (it’s been reported in the bug section several times) and they have not kill switched him, then no. It’s a bug and it sucks that people take advantage of them, but if BHVR were bothered they would stop to use if him until fixed.

Like they did with Inner Healing, we can’t let survivors have unlimited heals in a game, when we can have a teleporting knight pulling people off gates and gens from half way across the map.

Yea, honestly that annoys me. Why hasn't he been kill switched?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/358103/stop-complaining-about-3-gens

    Nobody is complaining about 3-gens.

What people are complaining about is how you can use 3-gens to take the game hostage. And ever since it has blown up on social media that stuff like this is possible, a lot of my recent matches end in 40+ minute stalemate matches where the killer refuses to hook or kill survivors, and survivors cannot complete their objective.

It's boring, it's not fun, and is against the rules to do so but honestly I cant be bothered to record and upload 20+ minute matches because it would kill my internet, and most of the time I just end up DCing because the 5 and 15 minute DC penalty is quicker than waiting out a 60 minute match timer.

Well if the killer is refusing to actually kill anyone, then yes that's BS but the 3-gen isn't the problem. Heck, Ive been told I'm being reported for 3-genning on Dead Dawg with Pig, and my build is Blood Warden, No Way Out, Remember Me, and Terminus. So like, I am being "reported" for forcing the players into a 3-gen with what is essentially no perks at all until all 5 generators are done.

  • I respect Dead Hard now. When a survivor uses it to soak a hit, I say to myself "Nice Dead Hard" because its not the super-annoying easy chase extender that it was before.

  • While I sometimes feel bad, honestly sometimes I feel like if I were to show mercy every time I get a disconnect, I'd always be showing mercy... and the thing is, I'm not even that good at this game. Seriously. I am a big hater of when people say that getting to Iridescent I is just about how much you play, because... yea no its not, for me it's literally "a skill issue bro, you're bad. git gud" and I'm mostly accepting of that, but when I hear people that are actually skilled claim it's not about skill, yeah. It is.

  • Yea, I gotta say I am not a fan of the new forums look... it's so... well, another put it perfectly... bland.

You're telling me you play 6+ hours a day and 9/10 matches this happens to you. If this is happening you must never even get out of Bronze. You're either extremally unlucky or being hyperbolic. Either way, why are you still playing? If this was happening to me I would never be having fun and pack it in.

Yes, I rarely get out of bronze, and yes I actually have been playing a lot less since Wesker, now I usually only play with streamer friends, otherwise I play killer... where its POP POP POP POP POP. So now I just play Pig with a total end game build for the laughs of when I do manage to get a 3K/4K before the last gen is done, I can say they lost to a perkless Pig.

"Oh, getting Iridescent I isn't about skill, it's just how much you play."

But it pretty much is. When I had time to play I got to Iri fine every month. Now, I don't have a lot of time I don't get there. Yes, this was playing solo.

I play more than most streamers I know and I get camped or tunneled out 9/10 matches. When you lose pips after every match you get them, it doesn't matter how much you play. You're just lucky not to be the one camped/tunneled.

Like the Cross Progression for Switch? Oh wait. Like Cosmetics for all non licensed characters being available to buy for shards? Oh wait.

They are still working on Cross Progression for Switch, and they've said that the holiday cosmetics are an exception. It's only a few more weeks until you will be able to get Vittorio's very rares for shards. IF and that's a BIG IF you can't in a few weeks, then that will be different.

Of coarse the killer of the match is going hard with 3-4 Gen slowdowns, so it’s basically impossible to really do anything. Lately I’ve just been bringing totem finding builds because I know that’s the only way to really get points and hopefully pip. DC is so bad right now ugh.

Yea, pretty much unless you are in a good SWF or you are a juking looping god that makes Nurses cry, you're not going to get very high, especially not in Solo Q. Hell, you make it to gold you're doing better than me.

    Prove it.

Nothing is for certain. The company can change their mind at any point so it's not a given they'll be back. Therefore, they ARE removing them from the game. They MIGHT add them back next year, but until then they have been removed from the game.

Many said they will return next year. Now, one can choose to believe that BHVR are liars and that they will change their mind and make them permanently removed when Christmas comes around next year, and... well, hey you could be right, but I seriously doubt you are.

You say prove it, well... We will see next year. That's all anyone can say except for BHVR, which again, Mandy has assured us they WILL be back next year. That's as close as you are going to get to proof.

No, just tells me that people need to actually read the forums instead of making a new topic every single time. Most forums will actually close and consolidate multiple topics, but so far BHVR doesn't seem to be doing that despite their rules saying to not make 20 brand new posts on the same topic.

  • I was just in a game where I was losing tokens, but he STILL came toward me... Like it was taking a token, but... he still saw my aura? Not sure.

For those that don't know, all older Christmas themed cosmetics are becoming limited and will be leaving the store with the newly released ones once the time for them is up. This includes the Christmas sweaters.

I'm already dissapointed that they are continuing to do this, put applying this to older cosmetics the community has been able to buy for years? That's just a new low.

What's next? Blight skins becoming limited? Easter? Lunar New Year?

I had no idea. This is literally the first topic about this on these forums.

But seriously, why does the entire forum have to be filled with nothing but this topic on the first page?

    Trickster? Nah.

Meg? Can’t stand Meg, but love the cosmetic..so prob yes, before Jan 4th.

    So simple.

Why are you all in an uproar?

I can’t get my frozen Pumpkin coffee year round either, but I’m not spamming their mailbox letting them know. I know soon my peppermint mocha will be gone another year…but here I am…accepting it. Stores are not selling Halloween costumes year round …or Christmas trees…..are you grasping the concept?

If you want it, buy it.

    If you do not…move alone.

    Why isn’t that the end?

You make a good point. I need to immediately go to the Little Debbie website and DEMAND I be able to buy Pumpkin Spice Rolls year-round.

Most of the playerbase isn't even on these forums. Therefore, you cant at all claim to be a majority. You may be a majority among the minority on these forums, but you're still a minority among the entire Dead by Daylight playerbase.

Legion is iiiiiiiiiiiiiincredible annoying and most of the time wins.

Yea, but as others have said, that's because humans make mistakes. Legion very much relies on players making mistakes. The bots do what they are programmed to do, so that means... they can be a problem for killers like Legion and Deathslinger.

To add even more, Dwight & Jane's Halloween outfits weren't the only ones to disappear after the event ended.

Besides the two event ones from last year, were any others removed?

But yea, I've been defending this the past few days, but now that I see they are adding even the old seasonal outfits (and some that I don't think should even count as that, like Winter Tales and Cozy Break) I'm no longer defending this.

  • @bm33 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3285210#Comment_3285210

Because for 6 years they have put all cosmetics, including holiday, in the store without restricting the time available to buy them.

It's also not just holiday cosmetics they are doing this to. PJs in Cozy Break and Megs Outfit in Winter Tales are generic - there's nothing about them to make them specific to a holiday. At most you could say they are winter but DBD is played in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres, when it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere it's summer in the Southern Hemisphere so those in half the world won't have access to the "winter season" cosmetics when it's winter for them.

Yes, as much as I am defending them having holiday outfits as time limited, the fact that they are retroactively making past outfits seasonal, I am not okay with that. I mean, I have the ones I care about already so its not a huge deal for me, but like you say, why are the Winter Tales ones being removed?

  • @BarnesFlam said:

Do you have a garanty it will never become time-limited in the future?

No, I don't have a guarantee that Susie's Stolen Cheer outfit won't be limited to Homecoming Season either.

You know what? They should do that in a year when it's released to the store. Would be gorram hilarious.

  • Ah, thanks yea I just found it in another thread, okay see now THAT I am not okay with. Changing the rules for past outfits (even if I already do have the ones I care most about) I don't like.

  • @NoirGhost said:

For those out of a loop, in a recent news post it was confirmed that ALL Winter/Christmas cosmetics will be limted after the first week of January, which includes old cosmetics that previously were available all year around. I wasn't a fan of limited cosmetics to begin with, but them just making old ones that you could once buy at any time limited is just super scummy.

Simply put we really gotta let BHVR know that this is something we don't like nor want, and not simply just drop the issue after a week or allow BHVR to ignore us. Otherwise they'll keep taking advantage of us in future events, to where even blighted skins and any old season skin is time limited.

Can I get a link to this news report? All I have found is that the new Deck the Trials ones will be removed until next year, nothing about the past Christmas ones being removed. I even saw a post from Mandy that clarified that only the Deck the Trials ones are being removed.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3284166#Comment_3284166

The good news is that the forums aren't the only social media. I've seen quite a few people on twitter annoyed as well.

Yes, but even then. When was the last time you PRAISED something that BHVR did? Oh, right they've never done anything good. Ever. See, thats the thing... Most fans don't go on and say praises, we praise with our playing the game and buying the skins. It's only those that take issue with things that you hear.

    So, just as a hypothetical.

Say 10,000 people buy the new Princess Heart Feng Min outfit.

Does it really matter than me and 100 other people on Twitter hate that Feng Min got a Princess Heart outfit with Cheryl's? Nah. We can complain all we want, but the Feng Min fans that love her will buy that outfit and Feng Min will get more outfits like it.

It's the same with these Time-Limited outfits. You can complain all you want, but what really matters is are people buying them? Yea, I did buy the Mikalea one on release day and bought all but the Trickster one today. Don't even play Meg that much (I am a big proponent of the Meg hate memes) but that dress is cute so yeah.

Mandy has outright said that the Deck the Trials collection will return next year. So, if you really really really must have a Christmas themed outfit for Trickster in June 2023 then go ahead and buy it now. If you only would wear it this month and then never wear it again until next year, well maybe its' not worth buying after all. But, does the fact that you can't buy it in June... REALLY matter that much?

  • There is one problem you guys are forgetting. You are the minority. That's simply a fact. Most players of Dead by Daylight don't even have a forum account and never will. So we can complain all we want, but all those majority that don't have forum accounts? They are buying them because they (like me) don't see it as a big deal for holiday content to be limited to that holiday.

I didn't get the Dwight Mummy outfit. I kind of wanted it, but... not enough to get it before it went away. Maybe I'll get it next year. Maybe I won't. The Jane outfit however I definitely got.

As I've said before, would I like them to be available year round? Sure. Does it bother me they are not? Not one bit.

But even if every single person with a forum account, me included, refused to purchase any of the limited time outfits in protest... They would still sell well enough.

What it boils down to is if you want the holiday outfits, get them. If you don't get them in protest, well that's your choice too.

  • @Levitika said:

This is the third round of cosmetics that they've put in the store now that will be only available for a limited time before being seemingly removed permanently for purchase (An educated guess, as BHVR has not clarified this in any fashion); BHVR seriously needs to acknowledge what this new FOMO business model is about, as pressuring players into buying cosmetics in a limited timeframe to compensate for the in-progress conversion of all non-licensed cosmetics to being available with Iri Shards is not okay. They have every right to as a business tactic, but it's shifty and underhanded, doubly so to just try and sneak it in without acknowledgement.

They were not permanently removed. They said they would return next year.

  • Yea I removed mine once I Noticed it, but I did do my first Legion game after the the event ended running an Arcane Dowsing Rod.

  • Read any number of other replies from those who have done programming in the last 30 years in this very thread. Heck, even the quote you replied to was in response to a great explanation.

On this topic, I have gotten to a lot of fights on the various social media platforms about the use of spaghetti that I just have given up at this point because no one cares and when a bug appears it's just "spaghetti" and roll my eyes and move on. I remember one time aws had a shutdown, which bhvr's servers are on, and people complained about it being the dev's fault, as if my job didn't experience the same downtime cause of some aws issue, lol.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3277767#Comment_3277767

My issue is that literally isn't what spaghetti code is, spaghetti code is literally something ultra specific that happens in procedural languages when people used excessive amounts of goto's to execute specific lines of code that made maintaining and readability hard (see: a huge amount of programs written in the 80s, especially in BASIC). At least use the correct pejorative phrase - which would be lasagna code, which I suspect is what is going on in dbd (which mclean used to describe the codebase as too), but also, can be very hard to avoid. I constantly think about it at my job myself - the codebase at my work is so complex and overarchitected and touched by people around the globe on hundreds of team (I mean this quite literally), that literally a one line change down the line completely broke the product my team works on lol.

That's an absolutely great point. Even the use of the term "spaghetti code" is outdated, yet so many still use it to explain modern code that isn't even spaghetti at this point.

  • I feel like this is a killer main trying to trick survivors into giving them easy locker grabs...

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3277773#Comment_3277773

This one was built in blueprints, and converted to C++. It supports variables without requiring serialization, therefore it is able to streamline its code natively if the appropriate time and effort is allocated. I understand that spaghetti code doesn't mean that code is inherently bad, just that it is inefficient and prone to dependency related issues the more it is built upon before being cleaned up. Also they definitely use flow control because thats the foundation of everything down to if/than statements, my point was that when problems cause dependancy spirals like many of the ones in this game can, code being unorganized is often the reason for both said issues cause as well as the time and effort required to fix said issue. Its still a negative thing, but like I agreed, it doesn't mean the game is coded in crayon or something.

Oh, absolutely. Also, thanks so much for that insight into DBD's code. I will admit, that while I DO know computer programming, my knowledge is all almost 30 years old. I wanted to be a game designer and went to college for it, but... life got in the way. Thing is, when I see the insults hurled at game developers (even worse for other games) sometimes I think I dodged a bullet.

  • @Ryuhi said:

When you make a change on line 12,456,774,778,999 it can have an effect on line 22,565,335,666 which have nothing to do with each other and why did this change affect.

That is spaghetti code, yes. The name itself comes from the fact that dependencies are twisted together in a very unorganized fashion, and the more you build on them without cleaning them up, the worse the entanglement becomes. I agree that most people who use the term don't really understand what they're conveying with it, but it is something that is generally best to be avoided by streamlining and maintaining code, especially if you are going to be building on it further.

Also, not "all" code is like that, its the entire point of concepts like handlers. Instead of chaining together a series of dependancies, you can use flow control to create appropriate checks to call information from other sources, especially in a language like C++ which does not require serialization first.

Yes, but not every program is built upon C++ and the bigger a program is, the more complicated it becomes even with C++. My point overall is that most gamers that throw out that insult have no idea what they are talking about. The fact that you obviously do, then I think you of all people should understand where I am coming from. I mean, we don't even really know that BHVR doesn't have flow control and checks. Maybe they do, but even those aren't always perfect. Which, makes throwing the "spaghetti code" term at them even more of an issue IMO.

  • I can count the number of times I've been grabbed while unhooking on one hand. Honestly, it's easy to not get grabbed, even when the killer is right there. I don't recommend unhooking when the killer is close enough for a grab, but it's super easy to do.... Just fake the unhook, the killer hits you, then you unhook while the killer is on cooldown. Sure, he'll then hit you and down you immediately, but at least your friend got away...

  • Please, its' been so long and I know I am not the only one to notice this graphical error with this cosmetic. Can we please get this looked at?

  • They've always said that RIft cosmetics would come to the store in the future for purchase. This is way it's always been, the wording of such has not changed.

There is no backtracking here at all, just people not paying attention to how things have always been.

  • Here is a video (about a year old) from Pig main streamer Scorpionz that might help you a lot. It definitely helped me. The only thing that has changed with Pig since Scorpionz video is the way the boxes work.

I mean I buy every chapter when they come out, so yes. Now, this is also assuming this chapter comes with a Killer and/or a survivor. If it's just a cosmetic DLC, then it depends on the cosmetics themselves. Like the only Steam store DLC I haven't bought for DBD (besides the survivor and killer packs that were recently added, since I have all the killers and survivors already) is the Charity Case as I just have no interest in those cosmetics.

  • What I find really fun is to use an End Game build with Pig.

Blood Warden, No Way Out, Remember Me, Terminus.

So you get stacks of Remember Me from the Obsession, then hook everyone at least once and you've got it. Then, they finish the generators and Terminus activates as long as they are all injured they can't heal. Then you easily down them all while No Way Out and Remember Me is keeping them from opening the exit gates.

Then, if you get really good with Pig, you can have the satisfaction of getting a 4K before the last generator is finished and laugh at 4 survivors who lost to a perkless Pig.

  • @Bot_Salvo88 said:

I was playing doctor for a daily and I got 4 spicy survivors. 2 brand new parts and an insta heal.

The survivors were Zarina, Ace, Claudette and Meg.

I hook Ace, I go for Claudette. Ace gets unhooked as I down Claudette and something interesting happens. Meg unhooks Claudette right behind me. What do I do? I go for Claudette again since Meg did the mistake of unhooking right behind me for no reason. I hook Claudette again and this Meg unhooks her once again right behind me. I go for Claudette again and kill her.

The next one I find is Ace. I down Ace and (guess what?) Meg did the mistake of unhooking Ace right behind me. I go for Ace again and kill him.

At the end of the match when all gens got done, I hook Zarina and Meg escapes. I got 3 kills out of this.

In end game chat I got called "serial tunneler". I told them several times that Meg was the real killer but they only knew a few words. "Tunnel no skill" and some personal insults towards my family members and that's where I reported them for hate speech.

Moral of the story: don't unhook right behind the killer if it's not needed and don't blame the killer for going after you for your teammate's mistake. Thank you for reading.

I mean, sorry (not sorry) to say, but that's honestly why hating Meg is a meme. SO MANY MEG PLAYERS DO THAT. I would have hooked the Meg THEN gone after the other survivor, but that's just me. You don't have to do that.
