Well I did use it a lot, I loved Botany. Now that it got the Calm Spirit treatment, I will drop it (if I'd play again after the patch, which I'm not sure about), particularly in solo queue. I usually don't have any perk to heal myself, and often can't find any teammates, and I'm happy when I get a medkit from a chest. If I can't get a full heal from it then there's no place for Botany anymore.

As for the buff to camping and tunneling: it gets you kills, therefore by MMR standards it's skilled gameplay, so why would they remove it?

"Something something you can do one amazing thing in a build so it MUST be nerfed"

Sure the Red Background looks better than the Gold Sparkles BUT come on Behaviour...

That's not what your customers want. No one cares for a Reward that no one but yourself can see.

Have a Heart and give us something that you promised us -> something with bragging rights other players actually can see.

In the same update, they said they modified the prestige icons.

So, it seems you've already gotten what you wanted.

  • Solo queue will not be dead because of this patch. That's the overreaction.

Soul Guard doesn't need a buff. It's fine

Somewhat fine, but it's pick rates are still "meh" and the extra effect sees little use because of how Hex totems work. This fixes that.

  • On a different forum, I had participated in a topic that involved designing perks that you think you would have in the Fog if you were taken by the Entity. I was one of the few who offered some ideas that both seemed interesting and based off of quirks that I have in real life, partly due to my autism. I will post two of them, along with a third that I thought would be cool.

    First perk - Delusion

Your ability to seal yourself in your imagination is so powerful, you can ignore what is right in front of you, albeit temporarily.

Upon repairing 90/80/70% of a generator, Delusion activates. When you enter the dying state by any means, press the Activate Ability button to immediately recover from the dying state with a 3 second Deep Wound timer (or perhaps a timer similar to old Borrowed Time where you go down after a certain amount of time).

    Second perk - Repetition

You are somewhat out of shape and struggle with athletics in the Fog... but you know how to work around that, and that reveals itself in the Fog.

Start the trial with -10% vaulting speed. Gain a token for every time you successfully fast vault in a chase and do not lose a health state via any means. Every token increases your vault speed by 5%, up to a maximum of 10%/15%/20%.

    Third perk - Boon: Vengeance

The suffering around you makes you anger grow. The further it grows, the further you will go to make the Killer suffer accordingly.

Press and hold the Active Ability button to bless a Dull Totem and create a Boon Totem.

Soft chimes ring out within a radius of 18 metres, however the Boon's radius is 24 metres.

When a Survivor loses a health state as a direct result of a Killer's actions or Killer power within the radius of the Boon, this perk gains a token. Tokens will grant the following benefits:

1 token: 10% increase to pallet dropping speed

2 tokens: 10% Haste within the radius of the Boon

3 tokens: 20% increase to pallet stun time.

4 tokens: 10% speed increase to all actions.

5 tokens: Press the Activate Ability button while standing still in the radius of the Boon to consume all tokens and perform a quick, short range melee attack by putting your hands together and swinging them as if you were swinging a sword. If this attack connects, the Killer is briefly stunned. You do not possess invulnerability frames and can still be attacked during this animation.

If the Killer snuffs this Boon, this Boon will lose 4/3/2 tokens every time it is snuffed, and the effects from the tokens will disappear until the Boon is relit.

    Other ideas:

    Sound of Silence

All sounds created from your footsteps are reduced by 5%/10%/15%.

There was a massive problem from the devs with people calling Victor a "baby", making an actual CHILD killer would be too far.

Identity V actually added a literal "Little Girl" Survivor. I know that culture difference is a thing but... a kid getting slammed by wooden pallets and just going "ouchy ouch" isn't too graphic, right?

Compared to like, "Stranger Things age" Steve or Nancy getting literally murdered, that is.

I keep thinking how games like Splatoon have a concept of "death" somewhat and have squid kids literally explode when "splatted" but... still.

Just because something requires a lot of skill, doesnt mean its allowed to be super strong

You'd have to nerf the skill required then, you can't make something very high skill, mediocre/high reward. That's bad balancing and how you get weak characters in PVP gaming.

  • I would love to know if the devs still stand by this tbh. Datamining has already happened and we haven't heard anything about a third way to escape.

  • @ProfoundEnding said:

It's because new animations are a lot of work, takes tons of time, and BHVR doesn't wanna spend the time using their resources on something that won't even be seen very often to begin with. I mean you really don't see moris all too often.

Aren't they doing a mori rework though? And making moris basekit? Surely that will make moris more common...

i couldnt do much they were safe on lockers, and chasing the hidden ones on those safe loops was almost impossible

This is why, if a pallet loop is too safe, you need to deliberately get the pallet out of the way by chasing them around it as quickly as possible. Swing through pallets, walk through them, whatever gets the pallet out of the way.

Killer is about time management, and letting safe loops stand can hurt you later in the game. Better to try and reduce the amount of time spent on a single pallet to as little as possible than to leave a good pallet up-right to haunt you later.

Im sorry to say but thats really bad majority agrees that is seriously unhealthy and very unfun if this goes live nobodys gonna be playing killer

Not really, Killer powers like Bubba can counter this.

We've also seen official stats, the mythical 4 man SWF bully squad is a small minority, the majority of SWF squads are 2 mans who typically don't attempt builds like this to begin with.

You're more likely to see perks in this patch that can be done solo and without the help of others.

  • Um... yes? The devs said in the update that P1 through P3 is for perks while P4 through P6 is for bloody cosmetics. P7 through P9 is for special charms related to the character's teachables.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3023421#Comment_3023421

You get that anyway by prestiging after the change, and you'll get to keep your items.

Plus your progress will transfer over to the new system. If you've invested 200 bloodwebs in a character, prestiged or not, then they'll automatically be P4 after the rework.

Yeah, but according to what the devs are saying, it will be P4, P5 and P6 to get bloody cosmetics in the future. It will take even longer to get the full set compared to now, which would mean that it's worth it to try and get bloody cosmetics now to save time, when it's easy to rebuild stockpiles.

  • @Seraphor said:

There's no point in prestiging anyone at this stage.

Keep using and buying flans while they're available.

Doesn't prestiging characters in advance get you their bloody skins and their perks?

I thought getting someone to P3 before this progression rework would let you keep their bloody skins + have their T3 perks on all characters.

Didnt calm spirit get added bonuses, albeit slower but silent

It's still considered a nerf because Calm Spirit now makes these actions slower in addition to silent, which is bad and not worth using at all now.

CS should keep this new silence effect but ditch the slowdown, it's not necessary and makes the perk bad.

Honestly the devs need to let us know asap if these perks stack. For example, could no one left behind stack with hope? If the answer is yes that survivor will be faster than some killers lmao.

I assume that they do stack. There is already a build shown by Yerv that makes Survivors around the same speed as the Killer, but only under very specific conditions.

I sense a "speed when unhooked" build forming, Guardian doesn't sound like it's been changed and No One Left Behind now provides movement speed to unhooked people during endgame in addition to the basekit extra movement speed when unhooked. SWF Survivors might no longer need to be bodyblocked when they can just zoom to pallets with the Killer only able to follow along very slowly.

I'm just teasing, mostly. I'm not a therapist and wouldn't deign to speak authoritatively about the efficacy of various methods of treatment, but offering it up as the solution to help people with audio/visual processing disorders play a videogame seems logistically fraught to me.

What I can say is that pushing the responsibility for manufacturing accessibility onto the population with accessibility needs is not a compassionate approach to the issue. More often it comes from a privileged, abled position that does not want to be burdened by a responsibility to their fellow community members.

" I'm not a therapist and wouldn't deign to speak authoritatively about the efficacy of various methods of treatment,"

I'm not a therapist either but I've heard that this indeed works, and phobias can indeed be cured. It's not permanent, even things like arachnophobia can be overcome.

"but offering it up as the solution to help people with audio/visual processing disorders play a videogame seems logistically fraught to me."

But this is wasting developer resources on something that can be overcome. Helping the hard of hearing, sure, but aiding phobias specifically is not a good idea. Not to mention that TC actually says that they're sensitive to human screaming as well, which makes me wonder why they're playing DBD, a game where everyone loudly screams upon getting put on meat hooks, which is a HUGE part of the game.

I mean, I'm almost tempted to think that they're a troll, their post might be sincere(?) but with the strange logic in place, it makes me think they haven't even played the game.

"What I can say is that pushing the responsibility for manufacturing accessibility onto the population with accessibility needs is not a compassionate approach to the issue. More often it comes from a privileged, abled position that does not want to be burdened by a responsibility to their fellow community members."

So, to water this down: You're basically saying I'm not being compassionate and privileged for trying to "push responsibility" onto TC and people with phobias. And having the gall to go "privileged, abled position" and comparing phobias to uncureable conditions.

I agree, there ought to be some sfx toggles. - Toning Nightfall and the other sounds that can be triggering down is one way to go. I can however see the argument being made that some people might just use that feature to tune down a whole lot of sfx to gain some sort of advantage from hearing less background noise. - Maybe the option to replace certain sounds would make sense. For Dredge dynamic noise might be an option; just as loud, just as distracting when it comes to covering up other noises - but pretty trigger-free i imagine. Also not exactly pleasant to listen to, so if you don't have an issue with the original sfx there is little to be gained from going for the trigger-free version.

(And on a side note: the whole "just deal with it because x" line of argument is not helpful, imho. You don't tell a colourbling person to expect there to be colours in a video game and just deal with it either; you expect that key-colours can be clearly distinguished from each other by colourblind people as well.)

This would normally be an solid argument if it wasn't being made for a phobia, something that is proven to be defeatable with therapy. The response of "it's a horror game" works as a result, especially since horror tends to play off of phobias to begin with to make you feel fear.

  • I can't tell if this was just a joke, or if you're trying to compare a proven treatment to something insane like Herman Carter.

  • I saw how you necrobumped that other topic and then went and made this one. Do you have any... examples of hook exploit returning?

Or do you think someone crouching under hook while carrying a survivor (but still being perfectly hittable) is an exploit? You're supposed to look down if you want to hit them.

Why be so rude? We literally just have a difference of opinion. I'm sure you'd act like this to my face. Classic internet tough guy.

I'm not giving up on an argument, I've just said my peace. That's it. I don't care what streamers or other people thought about old Freddy. I'm telling you how I feel and my experience with old Freddy.

I didn't even watch your video. Just because someone makes a video of their opinion doesn't mean it's science fact all of a sudden.

And where are your sources on 90 percent of people were crying for a rework? Seems like a number you just pulled out of your ass.

As far as MMR goes. I have no clue and frankly, neither do you because bhvr does not release MMR. That's such a tacky argument by the way. Cringe.

What MMR are you at where you're not having to bait out dead hard btw?

    The nerve of ya.

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm trying to be assertive. And... yes, I would actually talk the same way in real life (assertively), unless you're the type to punch people.

"I didn't even watch your video. Just because someone makes a video of their opinion doesn't mean it's science fact all of a sudden."

This explains everything. You didn't watch the video so you don't understand this and don't realize that you're wrong about the video. To describe the video, it's a meme video filled with experiences as playing old Freddy. The reason why I am bringing this video up is because it highlights the gigantic weaknesses that old Freddy had and how his strengths weren't enough to compensate for the gigantic weaknesses.

"And where are your sources on 90 percent of people were crying for a rework? Seems like a number you just pulled out of your ass."

Pre-rework sources? These forums. People frequently would talk about old Freddy and say he was the worst Killer in the game. They'd talk about buffs or reworks in the same breath. Hell, we even have a person saying the same thing that people did long ago ("Freddy was the weakest killer in the game for a very long time."). This IS what people's posts would have.

I'm also at an MMR on Killer where people know how to loop, frequently use Dead Hard and generally play effectively. I know this because of the types of Survivors I go against. Sometimes I get bad Survivors but it's typically people who know how to rush gens and use tiles decently.

It's not a tacky argument either, there are PLENTY of people on these forums who talk as if they're excellent players when they aren't as good as they think they are at the game.

And I don't have to bait out DH because... well, they DH to pallets and vaults. If you're at the MMR where Survivors are DHing in the open, it would imply that you're at low MMR.

... Sorry for the massive response by the way.

There is not a single other killer who can literally run out of power. That alone drops him a tier or three...

So they dont want to sell the chapter? That just dosent add up. Its really frustrating and i often wonder how many players would have stuck around if nemsis and onryo actually delivered on there character. The only recent killer I felt they really landed was pinhead and there was way more risks taken with his powerset.

The resi chapter might have increased the player base but the sheer drop off has to be more then just natural player decay. I keep bamging this drum and i know some people are concerend but iuch rather dbd take big risks on both sides then let the creativitty of the game stagnate around the same tripe chase mechanics.

Why do we no longer see designs like myers. Instakill moris, permenant wallhacks jumpscare mode. There are so mamy add ons that apply badic crap like hemorage oblivious and even exposed. The most annoying thing a game can do is be bland and it feels like i could predict a killers add ons with near 100% accuracy.

Why have we seen no new survivor items. Dusters to apply a stun, molotov cocktails to block a path, caltrops to reduce the killer movement. Flashbangs were an amazing addition for instance.

"That doesnt add up." Believe me when I say that this is how this community works, I've had my eye on here for a long while and I've seen how it works. People care more about (the community's idea of) "bAlAnCe" than selling chapters.

We also no longer see fun add-ons like Myers because of developer laziness, them being scared to make strong add-ons (people complain about these endlessly, any add-on that has an effect = OP) and, now, the community. The instakill moris are now on the community's chopping block because now it's, and I quote, "not fair for a single survivor to be punished because of other survivors mistakes" (which is absolutely the wrong mindset to be having in DBD).

Aura reading and slowdown. Two pretty strong killer features. Great slugging killer. Again, take down the sleep timer from 7 to 5 and he would have been fine.

But even then, with dead hard usage how it is, it's really no different than your average killer match. Run behind the guy playing dead hard chicken for 5 seconds before you swing at him.

I had much more fun playing as old Freddy than version 2 Freddy and diet caffeine free coke zero Freddy that we have now.

Anyway, neither of us are going to change each other's opinions. Last word is yours if you want it.

Nobody is going to change the other's opinions because we're just now getting to the good part + you're ignoring my video if you think he's good at slugging.

"Aura reading and slowdown. Two pretty strong killer features."

As I've said before, downing is everything. His "slowdown" was defeated by intentionally missing skill checks (and if you're referring to the Overcharge meme build, that is easily countered by staying asleep and simply... looping him.), aura reading means absolutely nothing when you can just loop him BECAUSE he is M1, and he has HUGE weaknesses that overshadow his strengths. Saving in front of him being a thing, slugging being impossible... completely garbage Killer and was considered to be the worst killer in the game. People BEGGED for reworks and I'm NOT silently letting a small minority undo the dev's hard work.

"Run behind the guy playing dead hard chicken for 5 seconds before you swing at him."

... I have to ask this now that this question presents itself: Are you playing at low MMR? Because you don't seem to be playing against good or decent Survivors.

"Anyway, neither of us are going to change each other's opinions."

Honestly, given how you're just giving up when we have advanced, I wonder if this is how you approach every discussion/argument.

  • @malloymk said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2979844#Comment_2979844

Sure. You act like this community doesn't cry and complain about 90 percent of the game mechanics regardless. Most of the community just tried to be the squeaky wheel rather that make adjustments and learn how to utilize a killers strengths to get better.

I thought he was fun to play and I got to rank 1 with him. So it's not like he was impossible to win with. And even if he had a really low kill rate (he didn't by the way), is it really a big deal if a killer wants to challenge themselves with a "weaker" killer?

I don't act like it, I actually do think 50% of the playerbase is whiny.

Which strengths were these for old Freddy? Constant aura reveal outside of TR? So what? Aura reveal is nothing if you're M1, and his gigantic weaknesses, as shown in the video, outshine the positives.

And that's fine that you found him and a small minority found him fun, but 90% of the community found him a snoozefest to go against, and unfun to play as. I would rather we not waste resources on bringing back overall unhealthy for the game Killers and simply fix the ones that we have.

"So it's not like he was impossible to win with."

Except that's not what I was saying. "Absolutely not, video proves otherwise. And he certainly struggled to get 4ks, with it being straight up a nightmare against even bad Survivors who knew Freddy's weaknesses."

"is it really a big deal if a killer wants to challenge themselves with a "weaker" killer?"

Also not what I was saying, it's "not a big deal", but if you want to challenge yourself, play Myers, Clown or Pig instead of asking for resources to be wasted on bringing old Freddy back.

  • @pseudechis said:

luckily when you die in game its only make believe... queue again.

Don't nerf Myers because a few sore losers can't deal with loss, its a major failing on the survivor side if he gets his mori off that early.

Definitely this, Myers has some of the most unique add-ons in the game with several large drawbacks that are already added that REQUIRE massive Survivor screwups, they do NOT need to be changed.

  • @Laurie268 said:

Tombstone piece should be nerfed imo, paired with J myers memorial you can reach tier 3 way too fast for how powerful it is.

Getting killed 2 min into the match because a teammate fed him is not fun or balanced. Atleast the iri tombstone addon takes a long time to fill up so by the time he reaches tier 3, there’s only 1 or 2 gens left.

Given that MMR is going to be changing to team-based eventually and it requires 2 Survivors be fully drained, it is actually very balanced. You must have a phenomenally bad team if people are getting moried at 4-5 gens and you'd be better off just getting into a new game.

It's fairly easy to tell if Myers is running tombstone, they typically give off tells with their behavior, just stop having stare contests with him. You're at low MMR 100% if people are getting moried that early.

No. He was like any killer. Could 4k or let everyone out. I had a ton of fun playing as Freddy. Just needed to lower the sleep timer from 7 seconds to 5. Sounds like maybe you weren't very good with him.

"He was like any killer." Absolutely not, video proves otherwise. And he certainly struggled to get 4ks, with it being straight up a nightmare against even bad Survivors who knew Freddy's weaknesses.

"Sounds like maybe you weren't very good with him."

Sounds to me like you're calling 80% of the DBD community, including streamers who put Freddy at bottom tier, "not very good with him".

  • I'm assuming you've completely forgotten, or weren't there, when old Freddy was in the game?

Freddy was widely considered to be the worst killer in the game, you could save in front of him with no punishment (you thought BT saves at endgame was bad? Imagine it being even worse...), he had ZERO anti-loop, and was a snooze fest to play against. He was just as unfun to play against for different reasons (that being he was completely M1, so no threat whatsoever) and these forums FREQUENTLY wanted Freddy changes + placed Freddy VERY lowly. AND these forums were excited for the rework!

    https://youtu.be/7eZcTxy4YHA

This video is gameplay of how bad old Freddy was. I repeat: Unfun to play against because he was easy to beat as Survivor, and unfun to play as because he had no power whatsoever, extra steps to accomplish basic Killer objectives (infinite aura reading outside of your terror radius is absolutely nothing, as we've all seen via old Legion; downing power is everything, injuries and aura tracking don't decide games)

I've been using they/them for them.

although that's partially because I really want to be able to play as a character who uses singular they pronouns.

also, before anyone says anything, no, the dredge does use singular they, because The Dredge isn't the amalgamation of corpses, but the eldritch god summoned to possess the amalgamation of corpses, and said eldritch god uses singular they.

Isn't the Dredge established to be born from the negative emotions of the entire town though? The town unknowingly created the monster that Stamper had warned them about by suppressing their own emotions, and the eldritch god is the Entity, which is the same being that the cult was worshipping in Elodie Rakoto's story.

You mean you're treated to such a wonderful image!

As a third party to this, it's definitely wholesome, but... 🤷

so lets say it gets added, with an opt out like other games do (say, Evil Dead.) The devs will either balance around it (a combination of buffing the killer role and/or nerfing survivors) or leave it as is and hurt killers even more.

Now what happens if you want to opt out?

The game is suddenly even worse for you as a solo than it was before. You have now been put into a choice of either dealing with having to audibly communicate with the worst the average dbd survivor vocalizes in an average match, or being exactly where you were before but weaker.

How would you be weaker, exactly? You can use perks to compensate if you didn't want to use VC. Kindred is god tier for solo queue, it provides tremendous amounts of info frequently during a match.

    Absolutely not.

This game already generates tons of toxicity, allowing people to communicate via voice at the end of the match is only a recipe for disaster.

Nobody needs to have a bad match only to get badmouthed by the other team. Killers especially.

They were referring to during matches, as in Survivors being able to talk to each other as a team. With the Killer not able to listen in, of course.

And doesn't this already happen with text chat? Honestly, nobody seems to type in my match chats and/or I never get salt when someone DOES talk. It almost seems like the toxicity everyone talks about doesn't match up with what's in-game. Unless the toxicity is at low MMR or high MMR, specifically?

The amount of people who feel very, very comfortable telling you to end yourself is staggering.

I've tried reporting them, but based on how pervasive it is, I imagine people aren't getting banned for it.

Can Bhvr start banning people who tell others to kill themselves?

Am I the only one whose experience playing both Survivor and Killer doesn't match yours? I often meet radio-silence after my matches, unless this is more common at high MMR?

Based off of your name and low post count, are you some sort of gimmick account?
