I dont understand survivors. How is hanging on the hook less boring than laying on the floor? Atleast on the floor you can still move around.
Plus the killer gets into a chase quicker, which is the only exciting part for survivors - the chase.
-
Her foorsteps are bugged now however. You used to be able to hear them as survivor when she is phasing, now you cant anymore.
-
Also not all players finish the loading screen and enter the intro sequence at the same time. I have seen old videos where people litterally start the game on the hook, because the game started without them. And sometimes when someone disconnects during the loading screen, the game stars without them, and a minute later the game gets cancelled.
-
So, what I get from this thread so far, survivors only like to the following killers:
Wraith, Billy, Nurse, Myers, Pig, Clown, Plague, Demogorgon, Oni, and Blight.
Basically apart from Nurse, and Oni survivors only like going against weak killer. Nurse is extremely rare, because she is hard, and Oni is easily countered by just predropping pallets to deny him his power.

Cooldown add-ons are great, her range add-ons give her a disgusting amount of extra distance when used together, metal spoon is a built-in stridor you're essentially running 5 perks, the wooden horse is great if you're practicing and you whiff a lot because it removes that extra cooldown, plaid flannel is great for learning blink ranges and makes her really easy to play.
Catatonic boys treasure makes chain blinks recover a second faster, so that's 1 less second looking at the ground which is a lot considering how much you're blinking around in a match and losing vision on survivors staring at the ground the whole time.
Imagine saying her add-ons are "pure trash" when all of these do nothing but enhance the already best ability in the game. Her purple "last breath" add-ons are useless I'll give you that. If their effects didn't use up your 2nd blink they would be really good but some genius at BHVR thought that'd be a good idea. They're almost useless. Her reds are also bad but that's kind of a tradition for all DbD killers at this point so I don't really care.
I strongly advice against Plaid Fannel. That addon doesn't work well on dedicated servers.
-
The tap M1 at pallets trick doesnt work anymore. Some patches ago they altered the quick drop (when not hold down run button) to stun the killer pretty much instant.
-
Unessecary decrease in performance.
Plus there is more pressing issues in the core-game that should have higher priority.

You ping is HORRIBLE, 150ms is just too much to play, you should just quit the lobby and avoid this situation.
Some clarification of how the hit validation works: Everytime you hit a survivor in your screen, the backend server will get your LAST POSITION that it received from you and get the LAST POSITION of the survivor that was hit, if the distance is reasonable to hit, it will accept the hit and injure the survivor, otherwise it will just ignore, so it means the higher your ping is, the more later your actual position will be send, that's why this system avoids bullshits hits against laggy Killers and laggy survivors.
Okay, but why is the killer forced to go through a weapon cooldown, and have blood effects obscure their vision?
Also it doesnt protect against laggy survivors, but actually helps them. Survivors have full authority over their psoition on the map. You can see that when a survivor is lagging. They start teleporting around and skipping frames. If you down one, they teleport to where they got down on THEIR screen as well. But when a killer lags, they start to rubberband, and set back, or decerated. The entire netcode is being modified to favour survivors more and more.
-
Hit validation shouldnt be a thing as long as the server infrastructure is still so bad. Russians dont even have their own server for example, and they make up a big portion of the European playerbase. Should they just be forced to stop playing, just because the developers are too greedy to invest in more servers?
-
Whenever I see someone do that in my face as survivor, I am so tempted to just wait and let them hit struggle stage.
If you don't want to be rescued dont wait until the very last moment.
-
The problem with aim dressing is that it kicks in BEFORE the hit is registered. In the stream the developers explained it, you could see a picture where the aim-dressing cone extends further out than the hitcone. This can lead to situations where aim-dressing thinks "This is gonna be a hit", but by the time the hit is registered the conditions are no longer met. Be it an object inbetween the killer and survivor, or be it the survivor doing janky zig-zag movement, making it humanly impossible to react as killer player, because it all happens in fractions of seconds.
A very easy solution would be to make aim-dresssing move your camera in the moment the hit is registered.

As a Kate main since over 2 years now, this breaks my heart.

There's even a loading screen tip for killer:
"If you lose a survivor, listen! You might hear their footsteps."
Yeah right...
I have no hope for the sounds to be fixed since the devs seem to have problems of replicating the issues. Would appreciate some status update from devs about the situation though.
Well, it said "You MIGHT hear their footsteps." The text is technically not wrong.

She feels better to play i agree! Why can't i blink up the wooden structures with the ramp on the swamp maps though? I can't tell if it's intentional or not because if you're completely horizontal with it you can blink to it but you can't blink UP it. Strange.
You mean Grim Pantry? Is that new with the most recent patch? I havent played since the latest hotfix, but I rememeber Grim Pantry to never be a major problem for Nurse.
-
Does this only happen on the Game Map? Because I know from personal experience that on other maps, its easy to blink out of the exitgate area again.
-
As a Nurse-main, I am not aware of a technique like that. That sounds like either yours or the Nurse's connection to the server is wonky. However blinking is a pain in the ass with bad connection.
-
Survivor vault animation already look bad as they are. It looks like the first and last few frames are missing. And on mdeium vault, survivors just vacuum into position (similar to killer vaults), instead of a fluid guided movement.

Did they enable the 60 ticks and server hit validation? I thought they were only testing it.
And.. she still has some game breaking bugs that must be fixed before she becomes playable for me. Lose 2nd blink for no reason, shorter blink, dead zones in midwich..
The 60 ticks are thing, yes, and it makes ping so much more stable. Yes, she has some other bugs, but for me personallly they become much more uncommon. Maybe its a connection-thing? I see some content creators basically not even mentioning their bugs.
-
Its also against the lore that one survivor can 1v1 the killer. The survivors are encouraged to work together to get the generators, or be a lone wolf and go for hatch.

I have played 49 hours in the last 2 weeks according to Steam. According to my router The DeadByDaylight-Win64-Shipping.exe and DeadByDaylight.exe used 1,64GB of data combined in the last 4 weeks. I am not sure if Dbd related Steam traffic during the session is counted towards Dbd or not, but Steam.exe and Steamwebhelper.exe used 2,9GB in the last 4 weeks.
You can mostly likely do a rough estimation from there.

It's not actually 40GB is spot on for a game like DbD. Games take up so much space because they hardly compress their graphics anymore for the sake of performance. It's why you don't get loading screens when you open a door anymore, it's why maps are much larger, it's why the map you are in can use more than just a dozen or so unique textures.
Games have actually always been around this size. In the past devs used compression and fancy tricks with it to pack them down real small since consumer computers with the size to carry them was rare. Now that this isn't the case, as we all know 1TB drives are standard even for low-end machines, that doesn't happen anymore so game devs don't have limitations the shrinkage causes.
The problem is that Dbd takes alot of memory space AND has really bad performance. The worst of both worlds is what I am saying.
-
Pallets got nerfed? The only thing I noticed is that survivors now run through pallets, then vacuum back 4-5 metres, and instantstun the killer (stun is applied before the dropping-animation even starts). That looks like a major buff to me.
-
I have a GTX 1650, and I am playing on low graphics on 1080p, and when I get a Freddy on Ormond I have like 95% GPU usage. Its insane how horribely bad optimised this game is.
-
All killers except Nurse, Spirit, Ghostface, and Pig (when not crouched) have their camera placed below their eyes. Thats not an uncommon thing of Behaviour to do.
-
Dbd takes 40GB on my system. Which is way too much for a game with such simple graphics, map sizes, and mechanics.
Much more complicated games like Arma3 with better animations, better graphics, better and more models, gigantic 300 square kilometres large maps actually take LESS space than Dead by Daylight does. Thats just unacceptable.
-
The developers cant even code a proper sound system, and you expect these exact developers to programe an AI?
Hold my hook.

Even if you turn left and right, the assassin's attack is guided, that is, it has target tracking, I still think that killer attacks shouldn't have tracking, most of the time they could be perfectly dodged, because the assassins are quite bad and that they are the most tricked of the game
As someone who plays killer myself, what you call "target tracking" actually screws the killer more than it helps. I have had countless instances of the game turning the camera towards a survivor but then hit an objects that I did not intent to hit. Or the times where the game moves my camera BEFORE the hit is registered, and therefor make me miss the attack as the survivor is doing a sharp turn, because I cant track them with my camera being forcdefully moved away.

There was an exploit for a bit (not sure if it got fixed) where survivors could by viewing a file while having the game open... Forgot where someone mentioned how to do it and whether it has been patched since
The exploit is still there. You look at the log-files to identify the customisation IDs of the killler (which are unique for every killer), which is logged the moment the matchmaking puts you in a lobby.
The developers attempted to fix it by encrypting the files AFTER the application is closed, which is completely pointless obviously.
-
DS has been finally balanced. Survivors are now punished for their mistakes.
-
Meanwhile when I play killer I get hit from ridiculous distances, and even when the animation already long finished.
I play on ~60ms ping.
-
Grabs are simply bugged. That is apparent even on the survivor screen. I have been grabbed in situations where I should not have been grabbed, but I also have seen instances where the killer starts the grab animation on the survivor screen, but then gets it denied a few frames later.
Grabs are like the hitboxes in this game, where they are so hopelesssly broken, that not even the developers themselves know how exactly they are working.

Idk if this is lagswitching in the beggining or if they just lagged at the perfect time
That first Min is what I am talking about. If the survivor loses connection at a convenient time, there is nothing the killer can do about it.
And that should be fixed, because I see more and more survivors start to catch on that fact and abuse it.
-
I think alot of people here in the thread are missing the point of the original poster.
OP is afraid that since console survivors on average are worse than PC-survivors (because framerate severely hinders console-killers), the killlrates for PC killers will raise. Raising killrates could alert the developers, and they might decide to nerf killers then.
I can see why OP is worried about that, because the developers have a long track record of giving in to bad survivors players that refuse to adapt. Some prominent examples are Billy and Hex:Ruin.

I'm sorry that generators is a survivors only objective. What are they gonna do? Sit under the hook and wait to die?
As a killer, you have A LOT more options than just tunnelling.
I am sorry that killing is the killer's only objective. What are they supposed to do? Just hook everyone one after another and let survivors do generators unopposed?
Survivors have alot more options than just rushing generators.

Actually this is false. I've seen killers with well over 1K hours tunnel. It's still very much needed.
People don't realise that these perks would never even be needed if killers didn't play so sh*tty xD
I have seen survivors with well over 1K hours tunnel generators. NOED is still very much needed too.
People dont realise that these perks would never even be needed if survivors didnt play so #########.

Dbd's graphics are neither particularly up to date, nor are the maps big, nor is there an exceptionally high amount of computations required for the gameflow (like explosions, destructable environment, entities with alot of possible internal states).
There is no other excuse than simple laziness and the problem being low priority.
But this all makes me wonder how this all will change with the upcoming graphics update. Unless the developers have developed a magic trick to improve optimisation, those new graphics will turn console gameplay into a powerpoint slideshow. And if the developers have a magic trick to fix performance, why are they not telling us?
-
I learned to adapt to her cooldown. I personally don't mind her add-ons, since I never use addons with her to begin with (she doesn't need them). However her bugs ... they make you want to punch your monitor at times. They are the main reason why Nurse playerbase is dead.
-
Weird, I actually have an easier time ranking up as killer than survivor. Granted I am not playing survive-with-friends, but still.
Doesn't mean killer is easier to play and win for me, just that its easier to rank up.
-
I mean the Dbd server infrastructure isn't the best to begin with. I generally connect to the server with anything from 30ms to 90ms, so a 60ms difference. In other games the difference between my maximum and minimum rarely exceeds 20ms on servers in my region.
It is also very well possible that Dbd simply doesn't show the correct ping. I know of some older games that have a vastly inaccurate network indicator.
-
Ever since they turned her power into one giant bug, people just don't like playing Nurse anymore. Its just not fun when you battle the game mechanics more than the survivors.
Shocking, I know.
-
I think Huntress. She will get her addons turned into memes, and a cooldown slapped on her hatchets.
-
Its funny how a bug that decreases the movement speed of the killer takes forever to get fixed, but a bug that increases the movement speed (like Nurse Anxious Grasp addon bug) gets patched in a week.
-
Play Spirit or Nurse.
-
Iron WIll.
Never be afraid of physical pain again.
-
I am all for that, if we do the same with Decisive Strike.
Its nessecary in low ranks, but once you reach rank10, it should be disabled.

How do you know they're console players? The glocal icon includes windows store PC players, doesn't it?
Nobody plays Windows Store.
-
I think those tips should be moved to the tutorial section instead of the loading screen. That way new players can read up the basics of the killers they are facing, and the killer can keep their anonymity.
-
Dead by Daylight is a commercial success. The vast majority of the commmunity-concerns don't affect the size of the playerbase at all, because Dead by Daylight lacks any form of competition on the market.
If I was the developers, I would be happy.
