  • Put on an ebony mori, my strongest add-ons and perks, and let it out of the next group of survivors.

I know this sounds kind of mean, but considering that the majority of the survivors just want to genrush (which is the equivalent of tunnellling, and camping), I do not feel any bad for this.

  • Since the confirguration file options got gutted, all guides on YT are outdated now. All you can do now is outside of the game, like your graphic card settings, operating system power settings, process priority in task manager, etc.

  • Low rank killers have long waiting times, while low ranking survivors have instant queues. On high ranks its the other way around: Instant queue for killer, long waiting times for survivors.

    Go figure why.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/155321/dont-understand-why-people-get-so-excited-for-new-chapters

It's because the devs plaster every new chapter as something big and exciting. It's all a ploy to try to hook new players and get old ones to return cause their game is in the ######### right now.

New player experience sucks for either side due to lack of players the same rank and MM

Hardly anyone is playing killer due to frustration and inbalance

Survivor is boring to play and the que times are bad

Most countries are in shut down due to corvid-19. Gaming is at an all time high right now. DBDs player basis should be higher than it's ever been but it isn't. That's bad. You can look up the steam charts and see a rise when a new chapter releases then it falls back down. This game isn't retaining many players anymore. That's why the devs hype up new chapters to try to pump more blood back into the game rather than closing the wound(fixing it)

Besides. We all know the new killer will probably suck at release and get nerfed anyway. The new killer and survivor perks will probably be niche or OP that they wil have to be patched to useless after enough people find out about it.

When did you check the Steamcharts the last time? Dbd is at an all time high in average players since its release, and is holding it for 3 full months now. As much as I personally hate Behaviour's business model, its workinfg very well for them comercially. The vast majority of the people will ALWAYS prefer new content over bugfixes/QOL chances for whatever dumb reason. Thats just how the world works. Consumerism sheeps everywhere.

  • Once they put through the hit detection changes, Dead Hard is gonna be the clear number one.

  • Nurse.

Its a constant mindgame between survivor and the Nurse. The survivor is never safe. And the Nurse can always get the survivor, if they are good enough.

  • I am all up for all that, if we make it fair for both sides.

I find it frustrating, how I can turn 180° as killer and still get blinded by a flashlight from behind me. Its annoying how my grabs constantly get taken away, because the survivor has a ######### connection to the server (and then blames it on the killer's connection, if they get hit through a pallet or window). I am sick of survivor lagswitching the hooking animation to extend their wiggle timer for a few seconds.

The netcode is frustrating for both sides. But the developers already confirmed they are gonna make hits serverside, while not touching all the bullshittery survivors get. So you got that going for you. Keep whinning, so the developers can hold your hand during the trial even more.

  • Hufff, I want to vote for Nurse, but then I remember all her horrible bugs....

  • Corn became nightmare for me in the patch they forced Anti-Aliasing on everyone. Now its just a giant wall of a blurry yellow mess. And the worst thing, its ugly as hell. I would prefer the 2016 corn, because it actually looked good back then, and ate up less fps.

  • Yes, they did. Infact the are going to buff vaults even more in the near future. In their developers stream they mentioned making hit detection serverside, which effectively blanketsnerfs all killer lunges.

  • @BongRips4Wraith said:

We get it, you got dead harded a couple times in one match and now you are upset.

Dead Hard was never designed as a specific counter to Nurse. With dedicated servers, Sprint Burst is arguably better to deny line of sight and get behind a large object asap.

Using the 2nd blink, at most distances, nurse can negate dead hard and bait it out if you don't blindly spam m1 the second you blink close to a survivor.

Nurse is easily the killer that should complain about dead hard the least, you literally ignore pallets, windows, and walls if you know how survivors move. The ONLY real problem with dead hard is that you can use it for distance when you make a mistake/get greedy.

As a Nurse-main, I can assure you that she does not ignore pallets at all. I regularily get stunned midblink by survivor who know their ping. Its easy as hell with dedicated servers.

  • I hate 3rd person mori animations. For some animations its essential to have them in 1st person, like Nurse. From the survivors' pov it looks like a low-budget horror movie, but from the killers' pov, you can really feel it. Staring into the survivor's face as you kill them with your bare hands.

  • In the latest developers stream they said they are making hit detection serverside. Once thats done Dead Hard will be superior to any other exhaustion perk, because you can just braindead react to killer's swing now.

  • I am sometimes AFK as survivor at the beginning of the match, because queuing times can be up to 10 minutes, and I am usually using that time for something productive like cleaning, working, studying, eating, working out, etc.. For killer its usually instant, so no AFKing.

  • For a moment I was confused how not a single person points out the inconsistency of Dead Hard on dedicated servers, but then I realised this was before we got the ######### ass servers.

Once they make hit detection serverside in the next few patches, Dead Hard will be clearly superior, since you will be able to react to the killer's swing.

  • The only netcode priority the killer has is hits. Its clientside for them. But in the latest developers stream they said they were gonna remove that. Survivors have a bunch of priorities in the netcode, like grabs, flashlight blind & saves, pickup & hook (for the DS skillcheck), and a bunch of others.

  • If you find the game in its current state frustrating, wait until they introduce server-side hit detection for the killer :)

Now even if you outplay them at loops, you can still get robbed off your hits by dedicated servers!

  • I mean they do keep buffing stealth in the last couple of months.

Maps were made darker. New maps are especially dark and have lots of foliage (Yamaoka's, new Lery's, Deathslinger's map).

Sounds nerfed for killers (survivors are quieter, stronger sound occlusion), sounds buffed for survivors (increased the volume of killer's breathing, so now you can hear a Pig breathing from the opposite side of a jungle gym during chase).

The new lighting update made the ground brighter for survivor, but actually darkens it for killer.

    etc etc.

  • Yeah, even if they fix the unblinkable zones on all maps, she is still a bug-fest. Dedicated servers were introduced 12 months ago, which caused the first problems for her, and some of them are still not fixed.

  • As a (former) Nurse-main, Nurse felt worse and worse with each update.

First it was dedicated server undercharging my blinks. Testing with the Plaid Fannel addon revealed to me, that apparently the charging and release of blinks is delayed according to the ping to the server.

Then, around her rework, I noticed post-blink lunges being inconsistent in their distance. At first I thought I was going crazy with this one, but going against Nurses as survivor, I saw them sometimes doing proper full lunges, and then sometimes they go only lik 2-3 metres forward when lunging.

And now we have this mess, where she just becomes borderline unplayable, because her power just doesn't function properly at all,

Becoming a Spirit-main for the time being, I guess.

  • Nurse is pretty much unplayable right now.

She got tons of bugs with dedicated servers and her rework, but now half of the main buildings in maps are literal unblinkable now.

At this point, I think the developers just hate poor Sally, and want to kill her once and for all.

  • The Ironworks are also completely unblinkable right now. Nurse is becoming more and more unplayable with every incoming patch.

But hey atleast they fixed the bug where Nurse was able to gain speed from the Spasmodic Breath addon within a week, because that negatively affects survivors.

Just your typical Behaviour Interactive bullshit only caring for the fun of one side.

  • The same reason why survivors are so obsessed with all 4 survivors escaping.

  • Personally, I stopped playing killer for the time being, because of the forced Anti-Aliasing tanking my frames per second. Which is not a big deal when playing survivor, but for killer, a steady framrate is pretty much a requirement.

  • Imagine suggesting buffing the strongest perk in the entire video game.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Ah alright, that's equally as stupid but guess not much can be done about it then. No point in reporting it, I tried reporting bugs before nothing ever comes of it, just a waste of time.

Guess I just have to deal with it =/

What the hell are you talking about? Its a survivor bug, so its top priority for the developers. Last time Decisive Strike was bugged versus Doctor it got fixed in just 5 DAYS.

Meanwhile killers have a whole bunch of gamebreaking bugs that have been in the game for months now (Nurse blink bug being in the game for whole 9 months by now).

  • Nurse has a lot of gamebreaking bugs right now.

Her blink abilty can be completely taken away by the game at random moments, for unspecified time (even for the rest of the trial).

Sometimes fully charged blinks act like you just tapped the M2 button for a fraction of a second.

And then there is always the delayed post-blink-lunge, where the game won't let you M1 for a half to a full second.

All of those have been in the game for atleast 6 months by now, those related to dedicated servers for even longer. Completely ignored and forgotten by the developers.

But hey atleast they fixed the Spasmodic Breath add-on bug ASAP, because it actually benefitted the killer!

  • Huntress' sensitivity doesn't change when she charges a hatchet, so I don't get why Deathlinger does. Also the change of FOV is extremely misleading, because it suggests that you could snipe with his gun, which is not true due to the 18m cap. They should get rid of that as well.

  • Just a quick update about the German translation by switching quickly to it: Nothing has changed.

Wraith windstorm add-ons still say his movement speed while uncloaked is decreased.

The decription of Nurse's cooldown add-ons actually makes no sense. They use the phrase "Verlängert die Ladegeschwindigkeit der Teleportation", which means something like "Extends the chargespeed of the teleportation". Complete nonsense.

Deathslingers short description says he shoots arrows ....

The words "Killer", "shop" are not translated at all.

Gearhead's translation is cut off. Apparently its supposed to be called "Ausrüstungsspezialist" (which is acceptable in my opinion), however it only reads "Ausrüstungsspezi".

I could go on and on, but my conclusion is that the German translation is simply not worth it. Its lackluster, often factually wrong, and reads like it got translated by a machine. I will switch back to the English version, because it actually tells me what power, perks, add-ons, etc do.

  • @arslaN said:

You can fix this by doing the following: In the engine.ini file replace the following [/Script/Engine.RendererOverrideSettings]

    with

    [/Script/Engine.GarbageCollectionSettings]

This actually worked! Thank you very much! I was about to deinstall the game because of this AA bulllshit draining performance and making the game look like garbage.

  • @Peanits said:

I say this as a Huntress main, hitting people when the hatchet flies way over their head was silly. The hatchet wouldn't be anywhere near them, but it would hit anyway. It was also inconsistent with crouching since crouching would make your hitbox shorter.

Why did you not apply the same logic to props around the map? There is so much debris smaller than the Huntress, and where she even can look over (since for some reason her camera is placed at her torso), but she can't throw over them.

  • @Almo said:

I promise the reason for the rework was not to make people stop playing her.

But thats exactly what you accomplished. You slapped in an extremely unfun mechanic, added multiple gamebreaking bugs that take away your power and litterally allow survivors to hold the game hostage (since the Nurse is slower than survivors), leave said bugs in the game for SIX MONTHS BY NOW , and then have the boldness to not even ADRESS all of this mess.

It doesn't matter what you say about your intentions, because the message you sent out to the community was "F you all Nurse players."

    Actions speak louder than words.

So if I get unhooked and fast healed with WWMI and get into a chase right after that I am not getting tunneled? If I get healed by a syringe during my chase after unhook I do not get tunneled? If I heal my unhooker and killer chases me I do not get tunneled? If get unhook search a chest and get into the chase right after I do not get tunneled? If I get unhooked and start repairing a gen and get right after into the chase I do not get tunneled? If I get unhooked and start sabotaging the hook and get into the chase I do not get tunneled? If i get unhooked and start cleansing a Totem and get into a chase right after I do not get tunneled? Are you kidding me?

I think Avis was a bit overreacting. But doing offensive actions towards the killer like unhooking, or repairing generators should deactivate the timer, to make DS truly anti-tunnel.

  • Bugs, bad optimisation, dedicated servers. I couldn't care less about balancing, but when the game isn't working as intended, or outright starts to sabotage me, that's where I draw the line. If the developers don't sort out that bullshit fast, I am gone for sure.

If the devs would have moved hit detection to the servers, as I presume everyone who wanted dedicated servers assumed they would, we wouldn't really have issues right now. But the fact that hit detection is still done ON THE KILLER'S MACHINE means that all dedicated servers have done is increase latency. P2P was much better.

Also, devs, why can't we see the killer's ping? That's a very important metric when hit detection is done there. If we see 50ms ping and the killer has a ping of 300, we have no way to know that but still suffer the effects of the 350ms round trip.

Having hit detection clientside is pretty standard in games nowadays. Its to prevent people from being forced to lead hits/shots according to latency.

  • Behaviour hates any and every form of player customisation, unless its costs money. So that's unlikely to happen.

Maybe one day we will get a paid DLC that adds some basic graphic settings.

  • The cooldown is an extremely unfun and boring mechanic added to her. I have never had a problem with her fatigue, because it acted as a more organic cooldown. It feels natural, and good. But now having a cooldown added ontop of the cooldown is just frustrating. You are forced to walk at 96% movement speed, watch the survivor gain distance on you, and you are completely powerless.

  • Because survivor-mains cried about peer-to-peer, and demanded dedicated servers, not knowing what consequences this will bring. Not knowing that putting a 3rd party between the players will INCREASE the interaction latency not decrease it.

Maybe i'm thinking of the old ping, since 120-140 ping for that system was hardly noticeable.

If it's very hindering in-game, than you can try contacting support to see what they can do for you. I doubt you'll get anything drastic as an answer, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

It's an option though for some more solid answers, so i'll link them below for you to submit a ticket.

Here's the link to the support team

Yeah, on peer-to-peer 140ms was completely fine. However on servers, 140ms turns chases into nothing but a guessing game, both as killer and survivor.

  • @FireHazard said:

    @Xephox_Epoch

Your connection might not be the issue, it could just be your connection to the Dedicated Servers themselves that's the issue.

Dedicated Servers do get tweaked sometimes, so that could be why your ping suddenly dipped as a result. 120-140 ping isn't that bad anyways, so it's not really something you should worry about. If it was 200-250+ ping than it would be different.

Of course I can see why switching from 60-80 ping to 120-140 ping is a big quality dip, but it's not anything serious that'll impede your game-play. As said before though, it could just be your connection with the DS's themselves and not the connection as a whole.

120-140ms ping is borderline unplayable, if your opponent has the same ping as well. Thats almost a quarter of a second stacked up.

I’m a rank 1 pig main and I just hit rank 10 with survivor and so far I have been carried by looping knowledge I picked up playing killer but often I have trouble looping harder killers I think I have nurse down and billy too but does anyone have tips for looping doctor and spirit or other top tier killers

Uhhh, if you are looping a Nurse, then I think she is doing something fundamentally wrong, just saying.

  • They should revert to her old hair physics. It was flapping around like crazy when running, it was beautiful.

  • Please tell me this is a bait.

  • Its a years old bug from back in the beta. The developers officially "fixed" it multiple times, but people keep finding ways to revive it.

  • Not all actions of killers are registered on their end, its only the hits. Everything else needs server confirmation, like power, pallet/generator breaking, pick up, hooking, movement, et cetera et cetera. The killer is put at an disadvatage by dedicated servers as much survivors do.

  • I can't speak for console, but on PC the game is not dieing, but instead is at an all time peak of average daily players (aka being the most successful since its release). And that trend keeps going upwards. So Behaviour's business model of luring new players in with new content, and removing "frustrating" elements and then milking them dry works better than trying to hold on the veteran playerbase by improving the current state of the game.

And every veteran player who just complains on the forums while still buying stuff in the store, and keep playing the game, actually further enforces this model.
