Yeah, I'm kinda thinking of how the one cultist character in IV could work in DBD.

Sorry, Trapper "trap" folder is full alongside the Feng folder.

It said they were a survivor though, an ex-cultist. Would make for some interesting perks though. And awesome costumes.

Okay, good. Nothing more wholesome than FengxTrapper

Yeah, you're right, they did say we'd never see the Entity as a killer BUT I could see a killer that was a cultist that was then experimented or went through a lot of different rituals to basically become a "spawn" of the Entity.

    Also about those fanarts... UwU

Now a cultist would definitely be cool!

But also no Cornpopers you're supposed to be the wholesome guy! Wholesome guys only look at pornographic fanart of The Trapper, not The Entity!

  • @Cornpopers_Evan said:

I wonder if they're ever so slowly gearing up for a "Entity offspring" killer? I think that would be pretty damn cool to see.

On the one hand, that would be awesome! On the other hand, I vaguely recall the devs saying we'll never see the Entity as a killer. Also, I don't think the Entity is the sort of thing that reproduces (despite what some questionable fanart might have you believe)

  • I'd say play well, and don't camp the basement since they only need to die in the basement. Hooks 1 and 2 can be wherever. But sadly, a lot of this is in the survivors' hands. If they don't want you to get it you won't.

  • Hag! I just like her playstyle, it just feels intuitive for me

  • I think most of them are fine, but especially for things like the 4 in the basement, it should either have an alternative or just be easier. I think that in general the challenges should encourage healthy play, or at the very least not be dependent on other players. That's the problem with 6 feet under or the Dark Sense one, you need survivors to cooperate.

  • What do you mean by companion app?

Yup, it's the wholesome man :D

I wish you the best of luck with your crush but remember to always respect their wishes, not that I expect you not too. :)

Of course! I told her how I feel and she said she didn't feel the same way, but we're still friends! She's not obligated to like me back, and there's no hard feelings.

    TAKE NOTE, INTERNET

Small? The game has like 20k concurrent players on Steam at any given time, way more during peak hours. I'd call this community anything but small.

But that's globally, most of those are probably North America, Europe, and Asia. OP's issue is the small number in South America.

  • Why the hell ain't nobody wanna see shirtless Ace? It would be funny, in character, AND titillating!

  • I made a really long reply to a similar topic that I can't be bothered to find and nobody cared anyway, so I'll give you the summary: make it a sort of reverse Devour Hope, where you get a token for every totem left. In EGC, mori at 5 tokens, exposed at 3, and 1/2/3 percent movement speed per token.

  • I like this idea a lot!

  • @Fibijean said:

NOED is not as bad as it seems. If you're new to the game it can be challenging to go up against, but you can hard-counter it by cleansing all 5 totems on the map. If you have trouble finding them all, you can use a Map item with a Red Twine add-on, or a Rainbow Map, or you can use Small Game, which is a basic survivor perk that will give you a noise notification when looking in the direction of a nearby totem (or bear trap).

Or phantasm trap! And maybe also portals? Not sure about that one...

  • It's the Wholesome Guy! Happy 1000th!

My dream date in the fog is probably Susie, David, or Claudette. Irl I got a crush on my friend but she doesn't like me back...

Too kind too kind, just trying to spread some positive messages, it's the holidays after all and everyone deserves to be happy not just during this time but all the time.

DbD needs more people like you. Heck, the world needs more people like you. Happy holidays!

    <3

  • I get your frustration, it's a new killer and takes time to learn how to counter. But he just got nerfed, so maybe wait a bit and see if you just need some practice dodging and joking or if the problem is actually the character.

  • The most wholesome thing in this entire community. You, sir/madam/respectable gender nonconformist, have made my day better.

  • "Unsightly, Unfriendly, Unavoidable"

Your ugly face and bad attitude is misleading to people who don't know you. Start each trial with 3/4/5 tokens. When an ability that reads survivors' auras would show your aura, your aura is not shown for ten seconds and you lose a token. When an ability that reads killers' auras would show an aura if a killer was standing where you are, your aura is shown for ten seconds and you lose a token. When you have 0 tokens left, all survivors can see your aura at all times, and the killer can see your aura when you are not in their terror radius.

    "Petty"

Just because you're going to lose doesn't mean you'll let the other guy win. When in the dying state, you crawl 15/20/25% faster, do not leave a blood trail, and do not attract crows.

    "Systematic"

You enjoy working with your hands, and do so methodically and consistently. Great skill checks do not grant any additional generator progress, but after repairing the equivalent of one generator (without a toolbox) you gain a 5/10/15% speed bonus to repairing generators (without toolboxes).

Tombstone yes is possible, but a gen will be done by then

    rancor only activates on gens

Still technically achievable within the bounds of the game!

  • Very interesting idea, maybe take a second pass over to edit for grammar/clarity. And while I like the idea of connecting the worlds of DbD and Lovecraft, this might be troublesome lore-wise; I don't think The Entity would want to invite something this powerful into the fog.

  • Idk how, but buff Pig!

  • I knew nobody would care about Tapp... idec about his face I just want to give him attention

Kill all survivors by your hand without a memento mori or devour hope, and don't let any gens be completed

Must be completed in a single trial

That's actually achievable though. I'll let you figure out how ;)

  • Sacrifice 5 survivors

Must be completed in a single trial

The dev argument for game modes has been "but it would pull our attention away from other more important things"

Made a thread about this that nobody saw...

    @AAAAA said:

I would love to see 2 killers vs 8 survivors as a game mode in DBD but we should accept that it won't happen any time soon for a number of reasons.

    1. MAPS: doubling the players would require a doubling of map sizes, especially for 10 gens to spawn. And I'm no expert, but I don't think it would be as easy to squish to maps together as people think. Plus, since you'd want maps to be the same realm (imagine The Game attached to Haddonfield- balance aside, it would just look weird) that would limit maps to Macmillan Estate, Autoheaven Wreckers, Coldwind Farm, Backwater Swamp, Red Forrest, Crotus Prenn Asylum, and Yamaoka Estate. 7 XL maps is a lot to make, but not a lot to play in.

    2. KILLER PERKS: Right now, killer perks are all based off the assumption there is one killer and therefore no duplicate killer perks. But let's take, for example, one of the most common killer perks: Hex: Ruin. Now imagine if there were two killers running Ruin. How would that work? Answer: it wouldn't without the perk being reworked, and the same goes for so many other killer perks. With 10 totems, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt would double in power. Would Thanatophobia still be capped at 4 survivors? And even with ones that make sense balance wise, they would probably require a lot of attention because they were made with there only being 1 killer in mind. Reworking killer perks would be a massive task for the devs.

    3. KILLER COMBOS: Certain killers would be able to unfairly combine their powers. For example, imagine going to a jigsaw box and seeing a bear trap at the interaction point. Not only do you have to disarm it while the trap on your head is counting down, but you tell both killers where you are. Heck, with Amanda's Letter, once a trap is on someone, the killers could just go afk in front of both boxes and be guaranteed a kill. Devs would either have to remake most killers to be balanced for 1v4 and 2v8 or create a separate version for 2v8. Either one would take a lot of time. That said every killer combo has fascinating potential synergy and I might make a separate post on this later- lemme know if that's something you'd like to see.

    4. OBSESSION: This would be another unique problem, namely: do you have one shared obsession between killers or two that are independently tracked. The first option would not only be weird for lore (DSing killer A makes killer B mad) but also make perks like Dying Light and Remember Me a lot more powerful, since they would affect 7/8 rather than 3/4. The second option would just be tricky to implement well. How would you show which survivor is which killer's obsession? What if one killer has obsession related perks but not the other? In this scenario, if both killers ran Dying Light you could be buffed and debuffed by it simultaneously. Either way, many perks would need to be changed, which is of course more work for the devs.

    5. AUDIO: This is just a small thing, but say you're near The Oni and The Demogorgon. Overlapping music! In fact, overlapping heartbeats in general would be confusing and chaotic. Finding and implementing a solution would be, you guessed it, lots of work for BHVR.

    6. LORE: This isn't some game breaking potential exploit, but lots of killers wouldn't be cooperative. If The Huntress killed German WW1 soldiers, she'll definitely take a shot at The Wraith or The Doctor. And The Legion would take one look at The Demogorgon and nope the Frank's Mixtape out.

    7. PIG: I know I mentioned The Pig a lot in reference to toxic combos, but this is just about how she would work here. First, she would need double the number of RBTsto account for double survivors. But more importantly is the boxes. By default you have to search at most 4 boxes in (I think) two and a half minutes. This is reasonable (if not easy) on normal sized maps. But double the distance between boxes and this becomes much more luck based. And you can't solve this problem by doubling the number of boxes, because that's double the amount of work for survivors, which makes the problem worse. But if you extend the RBT timer, you take away what little urgency they had. If I had to make a solution, I'd say double boxes and timers, but make the trap activate immediately rather than after a gen. But Pig in general needs some help and I don't want to accidentally anger the Pig mains, so I'll just move on to the next point after saying "devs would need to give The Pig even more attention than she already needs".

    8. FREDDY: This isn't a huge deal like it is for The Pig, but my understanding of how the alarm clocks spawn is that it picks the furthest location from you at the moment you fall asleep. This is annoying on regular maps, but would be a giant slog on a XL one.

    9. TRAPPER: The Trapper's issue is a pretty simple one: does a double sized map mean double the number of traps? If not, he's going to be F tier in 2v8, and if so, he'll stay the same, but with a potential intensification of his current problem: having to go away from survivors and gens to pick up traps.

    10. ENDGAME: Right now, The Hatch (not necessarily keys, that's for another thread) is balanced because when there's 1 survivor left, it's basically a coin flip who finds it first. One killer looking, one survivor looking. But throw in an extra killer and the chances change drastically. So, two hatches? And other issues: 4 exit gates? Hatch(es) open at 2 survivors? Longer EGC? All of this would need careful consideration and balancing.

    11. TOTEMS: Totems would just be frustrating. Not only would the 1 in 10 be doubly annoying to find, but imagine one killer getting to 3 Devour Hope tokens while the other camps the totem. This would need more balancing!

MORAL OF THE STORY: 2v8 would take a lot more work than I think most people realize, and while I would love it if they announced that was their next big thing, I also think that the resources that would be needed for 2v8 would be better spent improving things already in the game. Do you want 2v8, or map and killer reworks?

@AAAAA Sorry for derailing your thread XD

It is an honor to have my thread derailed by a pillar of the community for a good meme. This is the DbD roleplay we didn't know we needed

  • Oh god is Matthew gonna sic The Demogorgon on him?

  • NOT WHEN IT'S PLANKTON FROM SPONGEBOB!!!!

No judgment, but I really didn't wanna see that

  • How has this thread turned into both Trusteds discussing their terms or their service and some people sharing some... unusual fetishes...

  • @Fibijean said:

Basically, Trusted members are chosen by the community team (which I believe includes the devs and mods) for being helpful, reasonable, friendly and active on the forums. It's not something you can apply for, you just be generally a positive presence on the forums and eventually get recognised. Trusted members are identifiable by the "Trusted" tag.

Forum User of the Month is something that barely anyone knows about because it hasn't really been talked about aside from being mentioned in passing in the original post that was made explaining the Trusted Members Pilot (link below). Forum Users of the Month are selected on a monthly basis for basically being a standout presence on the forums, either by being particularly helpful or active or having made significant personal improvements.

FUotM are granted a special profile picture with a red background, and some are also selected to become Trusted. For example, Divine_Confetti, LordGlint and I were FUotM last month. This is also why all the Trusted members also have the red background on their avatar, because all of them have been selected as FUotM at some point.

If you want to know more about the Trusted program, you can check out the official post on the topic here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/89809/pilot-the-trusted-members#latest

Thank you, this was very helpful! This is why you're my favorite Trusted XD

I would prefer changing Iridescent Head(or at least changing the interaction with extra Hatchet add-ons), but if you had to just give it a tell, I think the best tell by far would be the Huntress humming a different tune.

I think that's an awesome idea, imagine doing a gen and then hearing The Huntress humming the main menu theme and going "oh shiiiiiii..."

  • For survivors, I love all of Adam's perks.

For killers, Make Your Choice is semi-meta, depending on the killer, but such a cool idea. Dark Devotion is another perk I know isn't that good, but seems really cool. Maybe paired with Mint Rag...

  • I'd say Bill, not just because he killed zombies, but also because he was a soldier. I'm not that familiar with his original lore, but he might have already killed people, although probably not since he's a survivor.

  • This is an excellent point! I think a lot of the War of th Mains comes down to people thinking if they lose it's the devs' fault.

  • I think they're useful in different ways. Discordance does its work early to mid game, and the information stream is fairly constant.

Surveillance is better mid to late game when you want to keep 3 or 4 gens on lockdown. The disadvantage is that you have to kick the gen (or use surge) and the information is a one-and-done. The only counter to Discordance is to do gens by yourself. For Surveillance you can tap a gen and run or hide.

  • I'll give hatch if I feel like it. No single set of conditions, although early DCs definitely help your case

  • Just because people are complaining about something doesn't mean devs will change it. They'll probably consider it, but that's a good thing; the community's voice should be heard, even if the community is wrong. I trust the devs to be able to differentiate between poor losers and legitimate criticisms.

  • @LordRegal said:

I agree with the foundation of your post: calling someone a KM/SM does nothing productive, and puts the one called out on the defensive, which shuts down reasonable discourse.

The part I don’t quite agree with is the logic that people who play both sides aren’t better equipped to understand the balance of the game. I’ll use myself as an example.

If I ONLY look at my survivor experience, I would think Nurse is the easiest killer to face, and it’s super hard to extend chases against more standard killers if you can’t lose them entirely, because this is my experience playing. I can’t loop worth a damn, I’m good at dropping chases. If I’m not near a tile that’s solid for that, I’m screwed - unless it’s Nurse.

If I look ONLY at my killer experience I’d think survivors have way too many places where looping works for way too long, and M1 killers don’t have enough tools to deal with that. Nurse on the other hand denies loops so she’s strong, especially since it seems most survivors don’t understand you can’t rely on the same tricks against a Nurse as anyone else.

See the problem? My two halves show opposite things. Without the other half for context I’d be seeing things from a very skewed perspective. Doesn’t mean I don’t have an opinion unless I have both perspectives, but it does mean having both makes me better informed.

Regardless, there’s ways to frame the arguments that don’t put people on the defensive. Hostile wording never helps. And that I agree with you entirely on.

I agree that Boths are usually better informed, but that doesn't mean other opinions are invalid or should be scorned. So long as we're clear on that, I'm in total agreement, and tbh you probably worded my points better than I did.

  • Maybe, but I doubt it's a priority. All the balance issues and bugs and toxicity, and you want more blood?

Edit: Disregard the above. I am a foolish wretch who has seen the path. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

  • I'm attracted to The Hag's personality.

  • Rework both at once or don't touch either. This isn't even about balance, I just don't want half the forum to be "devs are so X sided they reworked Y but not Z!".

  • I think grin isn't really a motif, just a word that gets used a lot, especially when smile isn't appropriate. The music, on the other hand, is an interesting idea. I've always wondered what's on the Fuming Mix Tape, and I didn't know Kate's music was affected by The Entity. There might be something there...

  • So as the guy who posted "SHUT UP ABOUT THE STATS", I'd first like to say I regret the combative tone of the title, I think it probably started the discussion off on the wrong foot. But I'd like to clarify what I am and am not saying.

I AM NOT saying we should ignore the stats, base things solely off of opinions or anecdotes, or flame people who use the stats.

I AM saying we should think critically about the stats, try to avoid basing things solely off of stats, not treat stats as irrefutable, and overall have civil and constructive dialogues rather than having good discussions turn into people arguing over interpretations of the stats.

As for the idea that I don't like what the stats are saying, I don't really care or even know that much about what the stats say. I gave them the once over when they came out and haven't looked at them since. I'm just tired of scrolling through pages of people throwing numbers at each other on a post asking for help getting better as The Nurse.

  • @BunnyTheHutt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/911852#Comment_911852

Not you, devs have. They've said "don't use the stats for balance discussions" but then say "use them too have discussions." And the stats themselves are pointless because they didn't take any factors into account like DC's, Perks, SWF, and they even mixed console and PC stats, making it even more pointless.

I'm pretty sure the stats didn't include games with DCs, but as far as I know you're right about perks, SWF, and PC/console. And if the devs said to talk about stats but not for balance, then I agree that's pretty stupid. Balance is primarily why people are interested in stats, and it strikes me as irresponsible to release stats you don't trust for balancing.
