Steam is also down, could be related.
I don't think that's true. I'm playing Webfishing right now.

Yup. Happened to me and @gerolau on call, there is at least 3 bug reports about it on the subforum and a ton of Redditors and other SMS users are reporting it.
-
This is also occuring to me and @gerolau . We have both restarted the game 3 times and have not successfully gotten into a game once. Since we cannot get into a game, no logs are possible.
-
Posting in this thread so I can watch to see if any CM responds. Gameplay Update as wording makes me incredibly nervous as a Michael player.

Fog vial needs to be returned in its original state (minus opacity) since in "some" cases its a bit too much with addons, the opacity needs a middle ground of current and original state.
Right now people just running medkits and such
It needs to be returned to its original state, hard stop. Opacity should only be changed once the bugs involving lighting and differing fog opacity depending on map are fixed, as only then will anyone be able to correctly discern what is the intended opacity and whether or not it makes it too difficult for killers to maintain tracking after it is popped.
This should be tested in multiple trials across multiple maps with multiple killers and perk combinations. Here's a few examples that should be tested in every arrangement:
- indoor vs outdoor maps
- outdoor maps with low walls on loops (Azarov's Resting Place) vs outdoor maps with high walls (Coldwind Farm)
- small loops (cars on Haddonfield/Badham) vs large loops (jungle gyms)
- multiple floors (Haddonfield, Hawkins, Forgotten Ruins, Badham, using a Fog Vial to escape into the basement)
- how do Fog Vials interact with Iron Will, Lightfooted, Lucky Star, Self-Preservation, Parental Guidance, Hardened, etc etc
- how do Fog Vials interact with Stridor, Whispers, Spies, Phantom Fear, Face the Darkness, etc etc
- how do they interact with Spirit and Bat Form Dracula
- how do they interact with Killer Instinct killers like Legion or Twins
- how do they interact with third person killers like Dog Form Dracula
- how do they interact with small killers like Chucky and Victor
- how do they interact with Singularity's cameras
- how do they interact with Springtrap's office auras, or if they even should
- have 4 survivors use Fog Vials near the Lament Configuration. make a Pinhead player try to find it anyways.
- how do they affect stalking killers, like Michael and Ghostface, and should they interact with the reveal mechanic for Ghostface and Unknown
- will Fog Vials prevent you from getting hit by Hellfire, Punishment of the Damned, and Nurse blinks, or will players need other options for these?
- how does Oblivious status effects make survivors act with Fog Vials?
- if a Fog Vial becomes like a flashbang (a temporary item), will survivors use it in tandem with flashlights most often, or will they use strong items still?
- do they block universal auras, like a revealed Springtrap? Should they? This will effect Skull Merchant's universal aura reveal mechanic as well.
- do they block killer prop auras, especially ones that move like Nemesis's zombies and Knight's guards? Should they?
- do they block locker auras for Huntress and Trickster? Should they?
- test with survivors who are loud when injured, like Feng, Soma, Rebecca, Bill, and Michonne
- test with survivors who are quiet while injured, like Ace and Ada
- test with survivors with quiet footsteps, like Renato
- test with survivors who have loud footsteps, like Ada on indoor maps
- test various survivors of varying outfit color (note how the 5 survivors listed in the loud while injured section have wildly different outfit palettes) and on various different maps. Will Soma blend in better with a Fog Vial on Ormond or Eyrie, and will he benefit more from his Deep Rift cosmetic? Will Bill blend in with Yamaoka's foliage or Haddonfield's bushes with a Fog Vial? Now swap the two - how do they fare? Bill may blend in better with his anni cosmetic on Ormond Lake Mine, while Soma may benefit from Deep Rift around the Yamaoka shack and Myers house, but would it be even better with a Fog Vial?
Once all of this is done internally, release it to live in a unique "hey we are testing Fog Vials HERE" queue with the same caveat of "once you queue you cannot change survivor" that killer has, and treat it like a event queue. This ensures mass participation for all types of players to guarentee maximum feedback. Make it a similar event to Shirt My Survivor, maybe, and have dev accounts running through the queue to ask PC players for feedback live in end game and pregame chats.
Is this a lot of work for a item they won't get paid boatloads of cash for putting in the game (same excuse for why maps are made less)? Yes. Will it be good for the game nonetheless? Yes!!

If I were to suggest something, having a "sort-of" microblog that documents all the (more widespread) community complaints with information what is happening to them would be a god-send.
Entry 2137 - Clown reported as unbalanced - Gathering feedback [Link to Form]
Then the gathering feedback part could get changed to Sent to Devs/Fixed under development/To be deployed
If they changed the Known Issues section of the forums into something like this, it'd become my home subforum within hours. Especially good if they posted issues periodically to social media to encourage players to use the forums more.

Funny how 60 seconds on a Fog Vial is too oppressive but free Survivor tracking from Phantom Fear is fine. Making the Fog Vial limited is overkill.
Tracking the survivor is part of a killer's job, so Phantom Fear is fine, but I agree with the bitter sentiment.

Same here, well either way since its now 2 charges how about those charges get refilled after each gen is completed or something, like i dont know at this point, maybe they decided to butcher it because people spammed it and saw in their own stats it was spammed and giving more wins than what it should have.
But in my own experience as playing michael the previous changes were not ruining the experience as a killer or won the survivors a match.
Again i will still stand by the fact toolboxes are the main enemies of this game that harm killer experience for its queue times
This is basically how I feel, but from the other end of the tier list. Fog Vials won no matches against my Billy, but flashlights and toolboxes won a majority of them.

I totally hear the frustration here and know I personally can't change how these nerfs feel for you, but I do want to make sure the feedback I'm bringing back to the team is as specific as possible and as representative of your experiences in the game as possible. With that, it makes it easier to advocate for changes.
If you don't mind me pulling this back a step to dig into the details, I'd like to ask two specific questions:
1. Of the two recent nerfs to Fog Vials (reduced opacity; max 2 charges), do you feel that one of these in particular pushed the item from feeling viable to feeling like it's not worth using? If so, which was it?
2. If you could make one specific change to Fog Vials that'd push them towards being an item you'd enjoy using, what would it be?
I hear the more general feedback (and rest assured, it's being collected and shared with the team), but if there are specific facets of the recent nerfs that felt most impactful, I want to make sure I'm giving them my particular attention. That, and things that could make Fog Vials feel better for you (like the great suggestions of increasing the total charges a little more).- Both changes were bad. The fixes that needed to occur were as follows: 1. fixing the chase bug (which the team performed! I am thankful for it!), 2. fixing the perma fog bug, 3. fixing the lighting issues on Eyrie/Dead Sands and all the Withered Isle maps, including the bug in which if you enter killer shack or basement, or light a boon totem, the entire map gets foggier, 4. ensure that fog visibility is the same across all maps with the fix.
- Revert the changes to Fog Vials and perform the fixes listed above in the exact order stated. From there, you can begin to adjust things like Fog Vial opacity and cooldown. If the team refuses this, revert Franklin's and put more charges on the Fog Vial to put it in line with Key and Map charges. This change would allow Fog Vials to be usable in matches without having to either buy Felix or find Built to Last in the Shrine.

Or lack thereof.
3 prestiges worth of levels (150 levels for those who wonder), and I could only get THREE party streamers out of those bloodwebs.
Did BHVR change the bloodweb RNG to favor maps, keys and fog vials, and add-ons for those things after the update, as I keep getting those left and right.
Why are those damn party streamers rarer to get than syringes, brand new parts and those kind of things? Its because BPS have to compete with, for survivors:
- 5 other types of bloodpoint offerings
- 2 luck offerings
- 21 map offerings
- 2 item addons each for Flashlights, Medkits, and Toolboxes
- 1 item addon each for Fog Vials, Keys, and Maps
- 2 toolboxes and one of every other item
- If the survivor does not have every perk unlocked, typically 1-3 slots that would contain a blue or higher rarity item will contain a perk
Killers drop all the items + addons, the luck offerings, and one of the BP offerings to replace it with 5 blue addons, so you are statistically more likely to get BPS on killer than survivor, since the survivor chance is 1/45, while killer is 1/31.
They could reduce this chance for survivor by:
- making Bound Envelope a green offering
- remove both Luck offerings, reducing it down to just Vigo's Jar
- reduce the amount of addons for the stronger items to match up with those for the weaker ones (this would likely result in us losing Gel Dressings and Styptic Agent to keep Syringe as a Iri)
- remove Mechanic's Toolbox (and Engineer's Toolbox)
This would remove 7 items from the pool, bringing it down to 38, the smallest the pool can go down to without removing a item from the game or remove items from both pools (ie: merging the Nostromo offering into the Dvarka one, removing the emblem related BP offerings).
-
This is a hilarious overexaggeration over a achievement you'll get with normal play. This isn't Evil Incarnate or Jump Scared, where you have to buy a licensed character and then interact with mechanics that are incredibly difficult to perform consistently to get a achievement, or the Huntress orbital achievement, which requires knowledge of maps, control over the hatchets, and likely also throw matches to grind it if you're not a fan of Huntress. Hell, this isn't even Hand Eye Coordination, which requires a player seperate from you to have Vecna, and for you to successfully roll a 20, attune to the item you recieve, and then not die. This is a map achievement, and map achievements come naturally.

I did it every week multiple times a week, I submitted video after video, reported hackers time and time again despite how tedious the process is because we dont have a proper ingame report system to help deal with this.
I am very frustrated and honestly disheartened. I try really hard to help the community where I can, I put a lot of effort here on the forums like many of you to vocalize for dbd and ultimately support it…but I am questioning that now. Am I even heard?
Why bother being heard? When you're heard, like I was with the Last Stand/Finesse hitbox glitch, it results in worse glitches, like the infinite Finesse glitch. But its okay because infinite iframes on vaults isn't gamebreaking because you can down them in one hit 😁

They won't do it because the March chapter is going to be used to sell the Trickster rework, as they've hinted at multiple times. The September chapter should be completely cancelled and the team should use the time to adjust the game to a playable state.

They have got to address their core issues. Performance issues, Bugs fixes, and most importantly how LONG it takes for them to get stuff down. Months to fix killer bugs? Not cool. Months to fix survivor issues or bugs? Not cool. We need to be way more proactive
Here you go.

Everything that should be removed
Fog Vials and add-ons
Keys and add-ons
Maps and add-ons
Map offerings
Keys should remain strictly to open the hatch and chests, but should not involve having aura reading on killers/survivors. Add-ons should give you free Pharmacy, Scavenger, Residual Manifest, or Ace in the Hole without the additional effects of the perk, and the iri should just give Left Behind.

an aside from the fact that you are immediately giving up giving feedback and shafting the item asap, nvidia filters are not cheating. everyone who has tried to die on the hill that it has, has in fact, died on that hill unfulfilled.
This is probably why they started demanding logs so heavily, honestly. Yes, filters are not cheating (even if ReShade gets got by EAC, which is out of our control), but they cannot be replicated in logs.
The REAL thing you all should be saying instead of "how dare those filter players" is "how dare those COMP players," because comp players are the ones using the filters, yet they'll rarely run into a position where a Fog Vial is actually going to effect them (in top MMR, incredibly powerful medkits and toolboxes will always outweigh winning a chase for the survivors, and they'll not be used in actual comp gameplay as a result).

Solo 100% of the time. I have no friends who play DBD.
This is why your experience is wildly different. While tierlists are often examined in a vaccuum, Otz, Hens, and all the others who do tier lists are in high MMR brackets and consume a immense amount of gameplay to rank these killers... however, they often play with some form of communication with other players. Certain killers (like Freddy, Springtrap, Sadako, Twins, and Singularity) are known as "pubstompers," where their power can be easily dismantled by communication between the players, in a game where communication inside the game is limited.

Do you play solo queue or SWF? This is a serious question.

I’ve said for ages if people had to link their game accounts to their forum accounts they would be more careful with their attitude and what they say as there would be accountability for it.
As is people can be as nasty as they like and if they get banned just make another profile, it’s why we see so much crazy stuff before the weekend on throwaway accounts.I feel like linking game accounts wouldn't do much because you can play anonymously and blocking players in game is dependant on you meeting them in game. You also can't block blokes easily here, but that's beyond the point. Game stats, however, would be incredibly funny for the strict purpose of seeing who says "I play both roles" when they mean "I played a bit of Huntress for a collective amount of 20 hours over the past 3 years" and also so when I say you shouldn't use WoO people can see I don't use WoO.
If trolls get banned relatively quickly, they'll be dissuaded from making new accounts, resulting in less throwaways. It also results in all 4 guys on the forum who post "do not the troll" posting that less.

Conversations rarely include any nuance/knowledge, just statements like 'Devs are X sided,' 'that is what a Y main would say,' 'Z mains win again,' etc.
The downvote system usually buries any useful topics/commentary as such topics usually get bombarded with a strangely similar number of downvotes after being posted.
At the very least, the downvote system needs to go, imo, as certain topics seem to be brigaded into obscurity regardless of post count.
What they need to do is remove the downvote/upvote system (or at least just keep upvotes on the bug report forum as a "this is happening to me too" button), and add more forum mods so that way it doesn't take a hour for obvious rage baiters and trolls to get deleted when reported. Maybe another button to press in the report system that says why you're reporting beyond "broke rule."
They should also let us connect our stats page and our Reddit usernames to these accounts so we take one step forward, 8 steps back. Would love to see the "friendships" that would blossom.

This is just embarassing
You're doing more damage than good. The game is dying because of your constant pandering to egotistical cry baby killer mains.
The game is already easy for them and as soon as something new comes along you need it to uselessness to appease them whilst maintaining a miserable survivor experience.
Distortion? Gutted to make it worthless and at the same time add a perk that gives more aura read if you have the audacity to escape a chase.
Fog vials. Weren't even that good but incoming cry means need to useless.
Yet ghoul, clown, mastermind, nemesis, huntress all broken and you leave it as is.
Get a back bone and sort it out or you will kill the game for good
I need to know why Nemmy is among a list of killers you think are absolutely gamebreakingly OP, because I think that might be a sentence no one has ever uttered in the history of ever.

I mean here is the thing yes it would increase queue times by a load ton.
My suggestion which was few months ago was to add a system that detects if the said users are in a party and killers wont know this, matchmaking system will detect this and apply lesser stacking values if the system detects oh so this player is playing with those players who usually have a loss streak when they are on their own and if they play in a party i should apply some value changes to them.
Btw this is only if players in the said party are kinda levereging the match by a mile and the killer does not match their winning ratio when in combination, it would be in terms a "nerf" and a lot of people said that this is "punishing for playing with friends" but thats not it, you can still play but if the system detects its kind like gray zone borderline boosting and trying to screw with killer mmr system then it will apply
Hate to say this, but I genuinely cannot tell what you're arguing in favor of. Are you able to give a tl;dr?
-
I have been asking for a way to dodge Clown matches before I can queue into them, so when I get this function in my lobby, I will advocate for yours as well. Together, we can both increase queue times.

@deckyr said:
this doesn't feel like a response to our feedback. this feels like damage control after you ignored us for an extended period of time.
i understand sometimes this community will exaggerate a minor issue and that ignoring things will make them go away in a lot of cases. but YOU need to understand that sometimes, we actually are on to something. you need to develop the skills necessary to look at the problems that are occuring and make an objective decision about how impactful these problems are.
i'm sorry that the streetwise bug isn't something glaringly obvious like "this killer is accidentally giving people seisures" and required game knowledge to figure out the impact of. however, you should have that requisite game knowledge. you should be able to look at issues from the inside, where we are, and examine the projected impact that a bug like this can cause, using your own experiences of dead by daylight.
and if anyone, for some reason, felt like this would not become an issue for any number of reasons, then their game knowledge is lacking, and they need to care more.
dead by daylight IS a video game. it's also the livelihood of you and your streamers. people depend on the quality of dbd matches to be consistent without allowing broken perks to create outlier games that give people advantages they shouldn't have. and you, community managers and developers, need to understand that there IS a huge portion of people who take this game personally, and who will take advantage of broken and rogue elements specifically to try to ruin the other side's day.
i don't want you to tell me that this is a response to our feedback. i want the case where the next time something like this happens (because it almost certainly will happen again), you listen the FIRST time you are told and you DO SOMETHING about it.
also, don't give me that about "your expectations of the killswitch are different than ours". our expectation of the killswitch is that you use it to protect the integrity of the game, and you chose repeatedly not to protect the integrity of everyone's dbd matches (which, need i remind you, now use mmr).
what was the point of not using it? because the game would technically function, so it was ok to have none of the matches be worth playing? these bugged perks are making the game unfun, unenjoyable, and unplayable. all of my friends decided to spend the week (the LAUNCH WEEK OF THE WALKING DEAD CROSSOVER, btw) playing marvel rivals because you would not make the obvious move of killswitching it. and to be honest, i might not even pick dbd back up right away after this.
i'm seriously scorned by how the community managers have behaved during this. if you don't have the requisite game knowledge to know when to take us seriously, then boot up the video game and find out for yourself. hell, just boot it up anyway and look at how bad the problem is yourself. exploit the bugged perks. dbd games are so short, you literally could have had the first hand experience required to say "oh, yeah this is ruining the game" in one hour per perk. this is your job. even if you don't want to do it, can't you at least listen to your fog whisperers and twitch partners to inform your opinions? it's just negligent, and makes me feel like you're phoning it in. you are paid to be our liaisons, you should NEVER be dismissing us without investigating.
do better.
They downvoted him for speaking the truth. My only addition to this is that they did also avoid killswitching Trickster for his epilepsy concerns, and Orela's Rift outfit is still glitched with epilepsy concerns when carrying.

This I wholly agree with, but until they get to the root, asking for a quick reversion to a perk used to counter it is better than letting it slide unnoticed.

If you don't mind, would you be able to elaborate on which bug this is? That way, I can make sure the bug is on the team's radar. Is this related to breaking the pallet that's being vaulted?
No, it's a bug in which the hitbox is being moved forward much more quickly in comparison to the vaulting animation, which affects both Last Stand and Finesse due to their changes in hitbox and animation. This is partially why Last Stand is being abused so much. Here's a JCGlitchmaster video in which he shows the testing he did with Finesse and the average numbers of how soon you can hit the person vaulting.

Is that why they use keys I use keys to unlock chests faster lmao
Yes lol if a player doesn't have Elodie (since her perks are relatively low importance) they'll bring a key instead of Apprasial.

This also occurs to Alucard, both versions of Soma Cruz, and the Dark Lord in a majority of his outfits.

Another day of streetwise/bloodrush abuse. And I'm willing to bet Twins or Hound Master wont get any substantial bug fixes whenever they do release the patch.
And neither will Legion, Knight, or Dark Lord!

Killers will tunnel through anything, even if you don't have that perk 😂
Edit: also, how do you know they have that perk? 🤔 Because I've seen people say, "just because they carry a toolbox." What nonsense is that?If you have Hoarder or Human Greed you can see it, and the people abusing the build typically have keys in order to rummage if they aren't running Scavenger, so you can see who switches to a toolbox mid match.

I thought they turned it off then turned it back on again recently? Instantly more people complaining time outs and punishments for being tunneled.
Yes, it's back on again. There was some loosening on the restrictions, but Clown can end games fast enough to trigger it still.

What's up with Freddy?
Freddy has been bugged since his rework, which I found out yesterday. This is not what OP is talking about in regards to him, but I'm using this chance to link the thread anyways for any Freddy players who saw the OP's post and want to channel the anger somewhere.
