So nerfing a blatantly broken killer is a bad thing? Guess a balanced game isn’t a good thing to strive for

It's not even live, no one knows how it will go and how it will affect good spirit killers. We can assume it's bad, but let's see how it goes first.

If they slapped my main I would probably react the same (mostly because she shouldn't be) but the changes aren't live yet. She was clearly OP so needed a change and a Spirit Main should know this. I will add I do have some sympathy because I feel they went a tad overboard. 24 meter phase notice was all that was needed.
Okay, I never mentioned "spirit nerf". I do not play spirit since I do not like how she feels and that she is a supernatural killer, why are people assuming I am talking about spirit nerf?
I am talking about general killer feeling and gameplay (I main clown and Ghost face for the reference) where I need Corrupt, BBQ, pop and ruin to have a chance competing, slap higher MMR at that and bam, 3-4 escapes. Stop refering to spirit nerf and putting words in my mouth, please.

No. Get over it.

CS GO average numbers of players playing - 500k (Plus, it is a free game)
DBD - 30k
In context, they are both equally toxic, only thing why you see more toxic people in CSGO is due to more ability to interact and see the toxicity.

If anyone wants to learn Spirit, here’s what you need to do to master her:
STEP 1: Equip your headset.
STEP 2: Level up Nurse to level 30 and get the Stridor teachable.
STEP 3: Level up Spirit until you get Stridor at tier 3.
STEP 4: Learn how to make survivors’ lives miserable.
Congratulations, you have officially mastered Spirit if you have done all this!
Here we go again.

I'd say no. If you are forwarding the game then it is just kinda scummy play but a legit one. On the other hand if you kill everyone and keep them blocked where only option is to DC, that's holding game hostage and bannable.

Pay to win isn't literally "you have to pay money to be able to win."
What it means is "you have to pay copious sums of money or be at a massive disadvantage."
"you have to pay copious sums of money or be at a massive disadvantage." = you have to pay to have much more chance to win = "you have to pay money to be able to win more." = massive disadvantage = you will probably lose = lose is opposite of win = pay to not lose = Pay 2 win
Again, I will repeat myself (Which I really hate to do)
I did really well with a grinded killer (Oni) and with his and perks available to everyone (Sloppy, Nemesis, Bitter murmur and whispers) against sweat squads and I am a very casual and chill player.
You do not need to spend a single dime to be good. You need to practice and by the time you get decent you will already have enough to buy better perks because one pgtw means nothing to newbie unless he learns how to use it.

Hi, I'm a newer player. Just started halfway through last year, although you wouldn't guess that from my performance and understanding of the mechanics. Anymore.
This game is very much pay to win. I'm about level 50 (I only play an hour a day, sometimes less) and I have only gotten enough shards to buy four perks from the shrine if I wanted to. I've bought one thing from with shards, ever. It was Stridor (yes, I know how stupid that is). If I never spent any shards, I would only have enough to buy one character after one-and-half years.
This is an issue for me, since BHVR doesn't actually fix problems, and instead add perks for new characters. That I would have to buy with money. So that I can actually function.
I'm a Pyramid Head main. I bought PH with cells, because I love Silent Hills. Then I found out that I'm All Ears was nearly essential on him, and I couldn't exactly wait for the Shrine, so I had to buy Ghostface. Way after that I found out it's basically necessary to run either Pop or Ruin as killer, and if I wanted to run Ruin, I would need to run Undying too due to the ######### totem spawns, but Pop doesn't synergize well with Pyramid Head since his power is based around not using hooks.
So, if I want to still be in a world of hurt, but slightly less, I could buy Clown. If I want to essentially have one perk slot, but have a decent time, I would need to buy both Hag and Blight. Or I could wait four years for the Shrine to have the exact perks I need and for me to have enough shards to afford them at coincidentally the exact same time.
And that isn't even mentioning the fact that you start the game with exactly two killers that can actually function without an obscene amount of practice, those being Huntress and Wraith, neither of which are particularly powerful. Huntress just barely falls into the "viable" category, and Wraith just recently entered the "average" tier. And yes, I know that with enough practice literally any killer is viable, but lets be realistic here: what kind of sucker is gonna play Trapper for two years just to learn the ropes, getting stomped by potatoes four out of five times?
So, unless I spend an actually absurd amount of time or a slightly less painful amount of money, I'm going to be way, way, way weaker than I should be given my actual skill level. And I'm absolutely certain BHVR wants it to stay that way.
You can do well with basic perks. Concept of pay 2 win is that you need to pay something to win according to its name, you can grind killers without needing to spend a dime besides buying the game.
Is it grindy though? It is. Perks you are talking about are not necessary to win, they just increase your odds, Pop is grindable.

we need to change spirit with stridor first, this change will makes spirit more annoying than ever.
There always has to be at least one of you..

Grabs are hard as it is anyways and very unreliable, no need to remove something that is barely usable, if you get grabbed, it is on you champ.
-
More ways to earn shard = More stuff will be aurelic cells.
How is this better for players? This is pretty much basic economy..

Funny bait OP.

Ah, but... In a way, it is. Especially in regards to the 'do bones' argument.
See, if you assume that survivors should just 'cleanse all totems in case of NOED', then it means that NOED comes into play regardless of whether the killer has it or not, with the one exception being situations where survivors decipher all of the killer's perks.
If your entire gameplan changes based on the possibility of NOED being in the round, then it means that NOED is exerting pressure every single round.
Prior to the nerf, DS was in a similar state, where killers wouldn't pick up a target removed from the hook in the last 60 seconds if there was an obsession anywhere, on the off-chance that DS was in play. This meant that DS was always a presence in games. It's also the reason that people wanted matches to always have an obsession in them, so killers would have to live with the threat of DS being in the game, to dissuade tunnelling tactics.
Sure, and if NOED gets nerfed, good. NOED is garbage "perk" if it can even be called that anyways.
You are playing 90% of match without 4th perk, at least 1/5 killers will have chance to use better perk than NOED.
-
You act like NOED is a thing every single round.
It is not.
-
No.
I enjoy the disoriented feel of solo survivor.
-
Pretty decent and chill, odd for a Sunday honestly.
Both killer and survivor is very enjoyable today.
-
I would rather see Myers reworked completely with his kit and addons.
-
Eternal circle:
Plays as survivor: Insane hits
Plays as killer: Can't hit survivor within smooching range
Odd, its either game or I just suck bad.
-
Put a build you like on a killer you like to play and enjoy yourself.
Haters gonna hate no matter what. :)
-
It is Illegal.
Rallying against person or a group in order to discriminate or harrass breaks ToS and law.
Grab the VOD and report it.

Most games are played around the last one or two gens thanks to the basic design of the game. Which means if you kill one or two survivors the last two or three can take the hatch instead of attempting to... You know, play the game.
I can agree upon this, yeah. I myself got bent over by lucky hatch find and 2-3 man key escapes, not really pleasant surprise.
Otherwise, I avoid using keys when I play survivor.
-
As I have seen someone say it before and I agreed upon it is something along the:
"If key is usable for escape it means you are probably already streamrolling it so 1 key escape does not matter or you are going to lose anyways without key used."
But yeah, it is kinda poopy to just get rewarded escape like that, but what do I know?
-
I feel like that alien from movie The Thing would be really cool.
Imagine having ability to take shape of other survivors and sneak attack, it would be absolute panic and distrust mode.
It would suck versus swf though..
-
How this equals fun?..

Survivors like to tap gens in a chase, so they can undo killers gen regression and waste their time running them around a loop as well. They want their to have their cake and eat it.
Literally 1 of 4 survivors alone can do two things at once, while killer has to be in 5 places at once.
My point. Now you trade regressing gen for DS. One or another. Not both.

@oliviaa said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2116056#Comment_2116056
please are you that dense, you completely missed my point
the whole deactivation thing was a solution made by the devs bc they were too lazy to figure out what else they could do to possibly fix it
it does NOTHING but hurt survivors. yall say we’re bad if we’re being slugged or tunneled at 5 gens but if we heal one of our teammates up after being unhooked to undo the snowball, yall will continue to slug and tunnel. just get better at the game
the only time tunneling is acceptable is if the person is being a ‘bully’ to you, if they’re an OoO, or they just got farmed off hook by their dumb teammate
"Are you that dense?"
Stating your point with opening insult is clear sign you just want to have fight and unleash your frustration. No thanks and good luck.

so sitting on a generator for 2 seconds means you aren’t being tunneled anymore? makes sense.
this DS nerf did nothing but hurt solo survivor players bc killers throw temper tantrums after losing their precious 4k and made it seem like DS was the bane of their existence
Why are you sitting on generator for 2 seconds if you are being tunneled? Shouldn't you run away if you are getting chased? Can you see how absurd that is?

@oliviaa said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2115865#Comment_2115865
you are living in a fantasy if you think this will actually happen
solos will NEVER be buffed. i’ve made it to rank 2 while only playing solo and NOTHING will save these survivors, even the red ranks. the whole survivor system is an absolute train wreck and perks that are constantly nerfed make it even worse for solos. killers whine and complain ab BT and DS bc they got a ‘bully squad’ abusing the perks one game so the devs thought they would balance the game by nerfing DS. now whenever you load into a game without an obsession everyone will be tunneled out of the game and you have to wait a whole 10 minutes for another game
Huh? What are you on about? Lots of people abused 60 second invincibility DS, DS now servers its purpose, anti tunneling.
-
I am probably one of the very few who doesn't want or care about RE and who is not really amazed nor happy for it.
Glad for you folks who waited on this moment though and I hope you get what you were hoping for out of this one!

Buy better headphones. That’s all
That's a very bad counter argument. I have good pair of headphones.
-
I just want to add that the principle is that SWF is annoying because it takes away the disoriented random effect I love from playing survivor. I will never play SWF and I dislike playing versus SWF.
SWF are capable of cheesing out 4 man escape when the point of game is for someone to die so others can escape and that is mainly why I dislike SWF, it is unfun.
-
What's the point? It would only spark more bad sportsmanship and finger pointing. We have enough of that already.
-
Just for the memes and because I love the movies, I would love to see ghostface being able to call survivors and track them this way.
-
Let's kick Trickster while he is already down and crying for buffs.
Yeah, let's do that.
-
NOED is newbie eater.
At high ranks, NOED is practically useless.
When you are on lower ranks, always assume there is NOED, you will live more often.
Lower rank killers can't apply pressure and will try to cheese it out, you just have to practice how to punish them.
-
If someone is hooked and you spotted a survivor near the hook, of course you won't walk away.
I myself prefer not to camp plainly because it makes it boring for me, I will camp out last hook with all gens done though because, well, what am I supposed to do? Not try to win?
Also, I also like to go for uninjured survivor since it gives me more pressure after getting them to injured, then I switch to unhooked person if I can locate them.
-
@letsgetshwiftyy said:
Almost like when I get face-camped out of the game and there's nothing I can do about it.
But you rarely see face camping in high ranks so, your point is?

@CustomerService said:
Yeah, I mean if we were to compare the best player who plays nurse and the best player who plays Spirit, Nurse is just superior. But, while Nurse requires a certain amount of skill and effort, Spirit requires 0. Anybody can 4k decent teams as a Spirit, whether that person is good or bad.
I can't. I suck at spirit, I could never get into her. If spirit is so good, why I can't achieve good results with her? Meanwhile, I excel with lower tier killers? Stop overblowing spirit.
-
@Phasmamain said:
That could be interesting but if you played Freddy spirit or nurse say good bye to your tips
I wouldn’t be opposed to this though
Or if you bring NOED, or if you win a clutch, or if you chase survivor 0.1 second more than they want it.
Bad, bad idea.
-
Tier lists are very subjective. It's more skill thing than tier. God pig will do much better than novice spirit.
-
Corn on coldwind.
The. Damn. Corn.
Equally annoying both when playing as killer and survivor.
-
Hexy mains clown. Watch him few times. You will see how he rolls over survivors with clown.
Every killer is bad until you learn the killer.
Except Myers and Trickster, those two are actually pretty damn bad. (Still can 4k in right hands and with enough practice.)
-
Couple of times. What's most important, it was deserved since I tunneled.
-
So, if I go for hook and I see survivor hiding and survivor decides to loop near the hook, I should just move away and let them unhook? Very unhealthy for the game.
-

What counterpoint? This is a thread about NOED, not Dead Hard. Whattabouting just obscures the entire conversation and devolves it into a bunch or morons saying "BuT yOu HaVe ThIs AnD yOu HaVe ThAt AnD..."
Thread is about NOED, when given argument that survivors also have second chance perk which gets them rewarded for playing bad you throw a tantrum.
Double. Standard.

@JimbusCrimbus said:

No no no, you're mistaken. Only killer second chances are bad. Get with the program.
Damn, sorry, you are right! May I borrow your copy of survivor rulebook please! I haven't read it in a while! :(
-
@MadLordJack said:
NOED is a pretty big problem. It's BS "counterplay" is stronger than the perk itself for numerous reasons, and that's even assuming the killer has the perk, and on top of that the killer does nothing to earn it and can freely down and facecamp someone for a guaranteed and completely unearned kill.
Dead hard. Enough said.
-
Now it serves its real purpose, to punish tunneling.
It is not 60 seconds invulnerability mode anymore.
-
Literally a perk that works for 10% of the game..
-
DS punishes killer for tunneling you so, what exactly is the problem?
