Yesterday I was teamed up with a corner of the map urban evader 8k hour dwight.
You are right i should've dodged that lobby.
-
So you basically camped basement and now you are proud because you made the match not fun for the other side and even got a reaction out of them?
Idk congrats on that i guess...

@NVerde said:
Oh OK I see what you mean - but it's still really poor behaviour. You are deliberately ignoring the primary objective of the game with the sole purpose of what, making it go on for much longer than it needs to? I think that's more than just annoying.
it is very poor behaviour just wasting someones time because they cant accept defeat.
But if i remember correctly "refusing to participate in normal gameplay" is indeed a banable offense and would be more accurate in this scenario i think.

@NVerde said:
Pretty sure this is what's mean when people say 'taking the game hostage' which is a reportable offence.
No idea why people do this - they surely are not having much of a fun game themselves, though I guess the mentality of the type of person who does this probably means they are considering it 'fun'.
If that happened to me I would be tempted to just leave them to it and go off and do something else for half an hour until they eventually quit. Waste their time the way they are trying to waste yours.
Its not a "taking the game hostage" situation cause the game could end if the killer finds the survivors. This whole hiding thing is pretty annoying but not banable.
Taking the game hostage would be like a killer trapping the last survivors in a dead end so without him moving or the survs disconnecting the game would go on forever.

hate to break this to you but there are no plans to make a cross progression between pc and ps4/xbox.
Right now only pc and switch cp are coming (or are out idk).
I dont know what causes the problem games like rocket league also made cp between all platforms,.

Whats wrong with the ping indicator in the lobby? usually shows me if the game will be laggy or not. You are aware you can leave the lobby then, and not just wait for the game to start to disconnect then, right?
It only shows your connection to the server but not the other sides.
So if a killer has a high ping you are not aware of this in the lobby and you will get bs hits.
-
Agreed it should definitely work in injured state.

Why are people against a chat?
Close the chat if you dont want it its not as if you have to use the chat if you dont want to.

You can opt out if you wish. There's an option in the settings that you can disable any time you're not in a lobby.
That aside, I'm not so sure chat on console would work so well. Typing out a message with a controller can take quite a while, so by the time you can type out what you want to say (other than a short 'gg'), the other people are most likely going to be long gone. There are chatpads out there, but not many people have one.
As far as private messages go, I'm only speaking for myself, but I'm not really a fan of private messages. People have a tendency to say things they wouldn't normally say in public since they think nobody else will ever see it, if you know what I mean.
messaging with a controller is faster than you might think especially with the word suggestion function.

I agree. I hate that in LoL and I'm glad I can't see what people are saying afterward. Post game harassing PSN messages are more than enough for me.
You know that you simply disable the chat? Same goes for PSN messages if you dont want to get messaged disable it problem solved.

Nah. There is no rudeness whatsoever. We are just having a discussion.
I’m against it because I simply don’t like it. Most of the time, chats in video games involving competition bring out the worst in people. I think people are just better off without reading all that negativity.
That i understand some players can be really mean and hurtful when they get owned.
To be honest i dont really care about the aftergame chat more the pre game chat to write stuff like: i have plunderes pls leave chests or i have bt let me unhook etc.
Its kind of annoying not having a way to communicate and seeing that on pc this is possible.

Are you kidding me? Lol. Chats are nearly always toxic in video games, because people don’t know how to use their manners online.
If I could disable the chat entirely, fine, but that doesn’t change the fact that I don’t want it at all. I couldn’t care less about getting a chat system going. I like that it doesn’t have that feature. But that’s my opinion, and you’re entitled to yours.
Good no need to be rude, if you think thats the case then disable it an evetything is the way it used to be.
I am no entitled to my opinion but i dont understand why you are against a feature that can be easily disabled I really dont get it.
-
@Siberia said:
I play on PS4 and I’m honestly really glad that there’s no chat. Too toxic.
If you are on ps4 you dont know if a chat would be toxic or not plus you can always close the chat and its the same as before.
With the option to basically remove the chat i dont understand people that are immediately against an implementation of a chat.
-
I don't care about the after game chat but i think the lobby chat should be implemented on consoles.

When you play with non-random people, you leave the killer no chance, and there is no intrigue either. This game is not considered fair.
If this is really your opinion then, no offense, you are not good enough and need to get better in order to win.
There are a really small percentage of swf groups you have no chance against but the majority are beatable.

yes, I play solo. And I think this is the best format for this kind of games.
Alright then you know how rarly it happens to get decent mates.
Its fine when you are a low rank but in high ranks its beyond frustrating.
I just want to play with people i know and dont want to rely on some random who thinks its better to urban evade in a corner than saving me from the hook.

All games have different modes. The biggest drawback of dbd is the lack of separation between solo and swf. This shouldn't be the case in 2020. This approach is ultimately doomed to failure. Better not to have swf in the game at all than this implementation.
A seperation would only cause longer q-times which now are even too long.
A question have you ever played solo survivor?
Doomed to failure are you kidding me? Swf is around for a couple of years and the playerbase is growing not declining.
-
Imagine a online-multiplayergame in 2020 in which you can't play with your friends....
-
Yeah now i can once again bleed out on the floor all by myselfe while my teammates suicide on first hook hooray...

I dont know if the challenges are effected by this i was refering to the stories and videos of the past archives.

Another bug is that the past archives are locked as if you havent played the past tomes at all.

It was nerfed because it ws "Overused, and too hard for beginners to learn"
My friend didnt quit dbd because he didnt understand ruin, he understood fine. he left because killer was unfun and low rank survivor was a mess on its own.
No again it was not nerfed because it was overused.
It was used in about 80% of high ranked games so the devs took a closer look at the perk.

Welcome to our Designer Notes, a series of blogposts presenting the fine details of upcoming design changes. Today, we’ll be going over the first update of 2020, which includes changes to The Doctor, the Gatekeeper Emblem, and Hex: Ruin.
DOCTOR UPDATE
In the next mid-chapter update, we will be changing core elements of The Doctor's gameplay. He's been a polarizing figure since his release, and we felt it was time to revisit his kit with an eye to making it less frustrating to play against him. We will keep his core identity as a Killer who shocks people with electricity and causes them to go insane, suffering several different kinds of afflictions and hallucinations. Some of his abilities and most of his add-ons will get an update pass.
We identified a major source of irritation to be his Static Field. The problem is that The Doctor gets periodic notifications of Survivors' locations in his Terror Radius due to their Madness levels increasing passively. It's the lack of action needed on the part of The Doctor to find nearby Survivors that makes it feel annoying to play against. With that in mind, the update centers around removing Static Field and replacing it with another ability.
The new ability replacing Static Field is called "Static Blast"; this is mapped to the Active Ability button. After charging the ability for a short duration, it releases a blast of static electricity throughout The Doctor’s entire Terror Radius. Any Survivors caught in the area of effect are shocked causing them to scream and acquire an amount of Madness. If their Madness level increases, they also reveal their location to The Doctor as usual.
While charging Static Blast, The Doctor's movement is significantly reduced, and the ability has a long cooldown. The idea behind the design of Static Blast is to make it powerful as a location tool, but very difficult to use while in a chase, hence the limitations on its use.
As Shock Therapy and Static Blast are now linked to separate inputs, we've removed the different Treatment and Punishment stances to improve the gameplay flow. The Doctor's base movement speed is still 4.6 m/s (the "regular" movement speed for most Killers), but he can now use Shock Therapy more easily as he doesn't have to switch stances to gain access to it. So we've added a brief pause after using Shock Therapy before he can attack or use another ability.
One last thing we've addressed is the frustration of using Snap Out Of It to drop from Madness level III to Madness level II. After the update, missing a skill check during Snap Out Of It will cost the player 25% of their progress instead of resetting it entirely. Also, if they stop the interaction before it's complete, they will not lose their progress and will continue from where they left off on the next attempt.
HEX: RUIN AND GATEKEEPER UPDATE
The upcoming mid-chapter update will also include a major overhaul to Hex: Ruin, and an associated update to the Gatekeeper Emblem. Recent data show that Hex: Ruin is used in over 80% of all games in the red ranks, and across the entire userbase it appears in about 45% of all games.
We took a close look at the perk to identify what makes it so frustrating to play against. Three key issues were identified:
- Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better.
- The passive nature of the gameplay pressure it provides means that there is a huge amount of potential with very little effort or risk on behalf of The Killer.
- Its inconsistency due to the random nature of the appearance interval of skill checks.
We also looked carefully to see how it functions as part of a Killer's loadout. Beyond the obvious desire to slow down generator repair, Hex: Ruin functions as one of the very few perks effective as slowing generator repair in the first couple of minutes of the Trial. This is important to Killers' rankings because the Gatekeeper Emblem highly rewards keeping as many of the 7 generators incomplete as they can for as long as possible.
Because Hex: Ruin is one of the few tools a Killer has for getting an Iridescent Gatekeeper Emblem, the update needed to respect that. Just a straight-up nerf without considering the consequences for that Emblem wouldn't be a good plan. So before getting into the Hex: Ruin change, let's go over the Gatekeeper Emblem.
Currently, Gatekeeper's underlying points are scored as a number of points per generator remaining to be repaired multiplied by which minute the match is in. Additional points are scored for any remaining generators at the end of the Trial. This provides much less of a reward to a Killer who loses three gens quickly, but then doggedly keeps the last few until the end of the match.
The new version of Gatekeeper is simpler: one point is scored per generator remaining to be repaired per minute for the first nine minutes. At the end of the Trial, if both Exit Gates remain closed, additional points are scored. With less focus on keeping seven generators up, we can move on and change Hex: Ruin without making it significantly harder for Killers to do well in Gatekeeper.
The new Hex: Ruin is simple:
All Generators are affected by Ruin; if a Generator is not being worked on, it regresses at [1/1.5/2] times the normal regression rate.
The Hex effect persists as long as the related Hex Totem is standing.
This version of the perk has many benefits:
- Survivors who are working on generators are unaffected as the perk no longer affects Skill Checks.
- Killers must be active in pushing Survivors off generators to get value from it.
- It is less useful in the early game, but very useful in the late game. Survivors now have a more interesting choice about when it is necessary to find and cleanse the Hex Totem.
The changes outlined above, along with the Lery’s Memorial Institute rework, are slated for the mid-chapter update and will be available to test on the Player Test Build (PTB) starting tomorrow. Please be sure to let us know what you think once you’ve had a chance to try them out!
Just read the designer notes there they talk about the reasons for the nerf.
-
I actually think Lightborn is more bad than good for a killer.
Yes you can get 1 or 2 free hits on pallets but thats it for the rest of the game you basically play with 3 perks.
I find it way better to let the survivors be greedy with saves or chase after me while i hunt down an injured person. This to me has much more value than the 2 free hits.
-
Ruin wasn't nerfed because it was too prominent, peanits wrote that on numerous occasions.
And the most common survivor perk is still self care even though it was nerfed pretty hard.
-
I am on ps4 and i won't enable crossplay dont want to play against vpn and/or cheaters.
Furthermore I think due to the lower framerates of consoles, pc players would have a bit of an advantage.
Edit: i would definitely enable crossplay between consoles (:

Speak for yourself. I haven't used a mori offering since 2019 and consider them unfair myself. That doesn't change the fact that the cage is 1 hook state which is the current requirement for moris.
Also since cage auras are no longer revealed for Pyramid Head it makes them A LOT better than a regular hook anyways.
lol calm down why did you feel adressed by my statement then?
alright lets try it this way the description of the mori says and i quote: Grants the ability to kill all Survivors who have been hooked by your hand during the next Trial.
nothing mentioned about hook states it says specifically been hooked not been caged...

I don't understand your reply; this is not a suggestion for players, this is a suggestion for the devs. I'm not telling players to use moris when they see SWFs (it's actually really easy as a killer to tell when the survivors are SWF: they all appear in the lobby together, and at least one has a flashlight), I'm asking the devs to add a feature that gives the killer a mori in addition to whatever offering they're using if the survivors are SWF, and remove mori offerings from the game. That way, you have a choice as the killer; if the SWF survivors are being jerks and trolling you and basically cheating by using voice chat, you can put down the hammer and mori, but if they're playing fairly you can ignore the mori.
Since dedicated servers survivors almost always spawn together in the lobby, so you cant conclude they are SWFs because of that.
If you wanna know if they are a team check their profiles and check if they are in each others friendslist.

If they go into the locker with DS active, what does it matter? Even if they were not in a locker they would still have the DS for you to eat.
just want to write the same thing. Killers that complain about locker ds are just mad cause they cant tunnle and slug survivors off the hook.

I hope they implement croas progression i would buy the game again for PC and Switch.

You have to put the battery in the dirst slot for it to work? Is that real?
When you use a low amp fillament and a battery you should put the battery first then the LAF to get the max. duration on the Flashlight.
But when you only use batteries it doesn't matter in which slot you put them.
-
I would choose Balanced Landing.
Fix Haddonfield (or delete it ^^) and the old version would be fine.
-
I dont mind paying 10€ for an outfit, i mean i play this game 1000k a year so spending some real money on it is totally worth it.
And many DCLs can be bought with shards just sayin.
But you can keep on buying games that cost 70€ with a playtime of 50 hours...

It’s only working for the person that puts it on despite the description saying it would work for all players in the trial.
oh ok i see thx for the info (:

just finished a survivor game where 2 cakes were in play and it did nothing to my overall bp result :(

So you’ve moved from “nerf SWF” threads onto “The game will die soon” threads.
Now i recognize this person his name was so familiar.
Guess he is now the Delete DBD Guy and not the Delete SWF Guy.
-
I think this is a bad idea penalizing players that want to play with their friends.
And most SWFs dont use comms that effectively they just talk about stuff not related to the game.
I get that a sweaty 4 man swf on comms are a problem but there are far more players that just play for fun with some friends. To punish the majority would be pretty unfair in my view.

Bet they are ochido fanboys...
i agree this behavior should be bannable.
-
for me worst survivor perkwise is definitely Ace; the only decent perk is Ace in a hole the other 2 are basically useless.
worst on the killerside i have to say huntress, all of her perks just suck and definitely need a buff/rework
-
A code made for console not working on console... noice
-
Imagine wanting to nerf Spine Chill...
-
Lately I run second wind its kinda nice to get unhooked and beeing healed a few seconds afterwards.
-
Aaah good for you i guess...
-
When you get exhausted then head on worked and you should get a stun/save.
Sounds like latency again causes this things to happen it may look like you had the right timing but for the game you messed it up (hope this makes sense)
Another thing that can cause this is simply a bug. It happened to me with flashlights i blinded the killer while he carried a survivor (not during pick up) got the blind but not the save.
