  • Is it random?

Does your pc meet minimum specs?

Does it some times freeze before closing?

  • It's not just with Linux... EAC is crashing the game/gpu for us Windows users too.

  • As long as survivors have "walkie talkies"... i will never have a problem with a all seeing killer "gifted by the entity".

Just because you say it's contradictory, doesn't make it contradictory. I don't think it is and you don't even try to show me how it is.

You also say that stuff can be a crime. How? Where? Again you are just saying stuff without providing receipts.

I think you're full of it.

    Think what you like.

If you are over 18 it's your responsibility and no one else's to be educated and to know law. "ignorantia juris non excusat".

Anyways, i don't need a block feature... like others i am done talking to you.

If you honestly think a crime is being committed, report it to the police or go to your district attorney and try to get a restraining order against your perpetrator.

Even in places with the strictest of laws, actions in DbD cannot be construed as crimes. Getting tunneled, camped, smacked on hook and even the most furious of teabagging is not harassment. Any chat in DbD that follows the rules is not harassment. Being repeatedly targeted is not harassment unless one player somehow can consistently target another player across multiple gaming sessions, which only happens to streamers and almost always by hackers.

A killer doing everything they can to make a single match of DbD for a certain player as unpleasant as possible, even tunneling them until they are dead on hook and then slugging them to bleed them out to make it last as long as possible while being as toxic as possible is not harassment or a crime and it never will be. Even some sort of law gets put on the books to make it a crime there is just not enough law enforcement personnel to enforce such (stupid) laws.

BHVR is also scared of being sued for somehow enabling such crimes and will do everything they can to make it as difficult as possible or impossible to do. That's why DbD will never have an in-game voice chat. The banhammer should come for perpetrators long before an actual judge's gavel.

That is a completely different and contradictory statement to...

"No, I am not. It's a video game. There is no possible way to actually hurt someone in a video game and anyone who thinks that is delusional. If you somehow get "hurt" playing video games that is a YOU problem, not a me problem. If your whole day is ruined because of one player's actions in a virtual world played over the internet in a short match, then again, I recommend not playing DbD at all. That's a normal game of DbD half the time.

Just because you are playing a game, does not entitle you to have fun 100% of the time or to have other players ensure that your game is fun. You have to take the few moments of happiness a game like DbD gives you and treasure them, for sometimes they are few and far between.

Your emotional well-being is YOUR responsibility. Not mine, or any other players' responsibility. If you think you are suffering emotional harm from DbD, quit the game and seek help. The game and its players are not going to change to suit you nor should you expect them to.

You can't be a victim in a video game because no one is forcing you to play and no one is forcing you to stay."

And "Even in places with the strictest of laws, actions in DbD cannot be construed as crimes." is still inaccurate... as the platform or tool is now irrelevant to whether or not a crime has been committed. Simply "Playing a game" is not a crime, what you do inside/via that game however is a different story and still subject to law.

Not to mock this or anything just an honest question.

So could it be seen as actuall harrssment when I encounter the same player several times a day which can happen with mmr atm and I target him because I know he is a weak looper and that he has ne exhaustion perks.

I mean he could say it's causing him emotional damage

Knowledge of a weakness within the designed parameters of a game you both have agreed to do is not even comparable (Not even remotely)... People sign up to play a game, not to listen/read personnel abuse or to be targeted outside designed parameters.

Anyways, this is drifting away from the original point of the thread and i am not here to debate, i have just mentioned law (It's law that has existed for decades and using a "new platform" does not negate the purpose of those laws and those laws will update to keep with new technology rather than disappearing because of new technology). I highly recommend checking your countries wording on the various forms of laws regarding harassment for more information rather than asking someone on the internet.

"Ignoring" or blocking someone (Threads point) is avoiding someone, which is the opposite of harassment etc and deemed by law and society as a mature way of dealing with someone you "don't like" rather than confronting/Targeting them or escalating a scenario.

You can't be a victim in a video game because no one is forcing you to play and no one is forcing you to stay.

Totally inaccurate. People choose to play a video game... not get abused or harassed by a individual... and a individual is not "a video game". It is why most game developers used to mark online play as "Multiplayer/Online activity/gameplay is not rated/monitored", as the game producers are stating that human activity between each other is not within their design of the game and they are trying to partially exempt themselves from criminal proceedings (Although you will rarely see this now as platform owners can now be prosecuted regardless).

If someone intentionally and actively takes a malicious action (Typing, Speaking or physical) outside fixed parameters of a product or service that can cause harm (Physical or emotional) that can cause actual "hurt"... it is a crime (Not even against TOS... a crime). It's why harassment is a crime, malicious communications is a crime, Bullying is a crime and hate speech is a crime (and ALL apply in a video game and a age rating means absolutely nothing in this regard)... it's also why encouraging self harm in ANY WAY OR FORM online is also about to be a crime. Masking behind a joke, meme, "just words" or "anger/stress" means absolutely nothing... and never has... hence why being angry and then committing a crime has never been a defence and has always been a admission of guilt in a court of law or society for centuries. That also applies to the internet and everything/everyone that uses it.

So... playing a video game and typing to or repeatedly targeting another player is no longer "Just a video game" should that person or anyone else actually report it to authorities.

Video games ARE for fun and anything else is secondary/questionable. If someone goes to play a video game and a player breaks the law... that player is the problem... not the victim who plays to have fun via a set made product... or the video game itself... it's the individual breaking a law that is the problem.

  • lol Tabbing out of a game instantly makes the game not worth playing, but thank you anyways. Il use my phone and time my next gen, other than that, there is no point in putting any additional physical effort, i cant even be bothered to report flying hackers i bump into nowadays as i will be spending more time reporting than playing the game.

  • Make a list of questionable players...

I always count seconds in this game for every action because of cheaters making me question sanity. So yeah, half a gen takes 45 seconds.

Need to get me a stopwatch.

  • @Janeliet_Romeo said:

I know this will be a very controversial topic, and many will probably disagree, but I think SWF definitely needs to be looked at. It makes the killer experience completely different, and gives survivors more perks than they should have. Being in a SWF automatically gives you perks like kindred and bond which are both quite powerful. Although I know many people enjoy playing with others, I think SWF should be completely removed from the game, or survivors that are in a SWF should play with big handicaps to counter all the free perks that they get. These handicaps would be harsher for each survivor the more there are in the SWF. Again I know that a lot of people play with their friends but SWF is something that completely changes the course of the match for killer, and drastically lowers the chances of success for the killer, so I think the same should be for the survivors in the SWF to even out the playing field. Some handicaps survivors could start with could be slower gen repairs, faster bloodlust gain for the killer when getting chased, less perk slots and faster hook progression. Overwatch for example used to have a system where each team in competitive would have the same composition (eg if one team has a party of 3 and 3 solos, so would the other team) to give both sides an even chance. Since this isn’t possible in DBD as it’s a 1v4 I think some handicaps to survivor would be more than fair

    Correct.

I have said it many times and i will say it again... They should implement a feature that if a survivor joins any game other than clicking "find game/start" whilst solo... They should add a 2% penalty speed to repair and healing actions and counter it with a 2% BP bonus. As if a survivor is doing anything other than joining a game by clicking the "Find Game/Start" solo in the menu... they are playing in a SWF or via third party software (For any reason).

Until then, do what i do... See 4 survivors already waiting in a lobby... leave it. See survivors in a lobby with others in a steam group or friends list... Leave it. See 4 survivors in a lobby with similar names, tags or same country spelling... Leave It. I am not walking into a trap and i will happily risk missing out playing with a "bad" team.

  • Nah, people are not even bothering with toolboxes or perks as much as prior to this patch. As a killer i am noticing that often a solo survivor with zero toolbox or repair perks are completing a gen from scratch in about a minute quite often (This may be a software, however i am not going to jump to that gun just yet).

As a survivor the movement of the progress bar seems to be moving faster than a month ago and just feels quicker overall.

Clearly did not read the thread title... and unless you have timed it... you wont be able to give a answer. Patch notes mean nothing when there has been frequent accidental map, item and perk rollbacks after updates.

  • @Bot_Salvo88 said:

Gens still take 90 seconds to get done.

  • The Knight

The worst killer in the game.

    • 75% of addons are complete garbage and are way too circumstantial.
    • Power is WAY too time consuming. A knight player that frequently uses the power will always be watching survivors escaping.
    • The AI is complete garbage. They pointlessly move towards last seen location before pursuing. They also do not not have a basic retreat and go around pathfinding script when running stationary into a object... just like the zombies.
    • Green trail gives away any technique or tactic using the ability.
  • Problem resolved itself by simply restarting machine used.

Every patch is usually has a big jump in players, so I don't know if you can use that as a bases.

Of course you can, it's simple maths. You draw a line between peak and now and you get the mean, progress and trending direction.

In this scenario... Without those "big jumps" (patches), the game would simply be in a even worst state with even lower players... that is literately all. Until a peak beats the current highest peak, you go by highest figure to current time/day.

It's how viral infections are calculated too if you have being paying attention to massive world events the past 3 years...

The game is unbalanced, broken, unstable and repetitive... and until all these factors are addressed, players will haemorrhage away until death.

Actually it looks like the population went up slightly since the patch hit (1-2%). Notice how the Last 30 days average is higher than the July average, that’s indicating the first couple weeks of August (post patch) have more players than the first couple weeks of July (pre-patch). So yeah, mostly stable but a slight bump.

listen, don't take crouching so personal.

Survivors literally spam their crouch button as a way to communicate.

    • • See another survivor at the start of the match? Crouch repeatedly to say hi!
    • • Another survivor gets on your generator? get off the generator and repeatedly crouch!

If a survivor repeatedly crouches before jumping into the hatch, it's more likely to be their way of saying "bye!".

Survivors don't have many animations to choose from. There's "come here!" and a pointing animation, both of which makes you stop in place. Crouching is the only fluid animation you can perform without interrupting everything else.

I have said this before and I'll say it again - Tea bagging is the act of crouching repeatedly *on top* of another player who's body is currently on the floor, dead or alive. You kids these days aren't even getting the term right (you call it tbagging), hinting at the origin of the word having been lost, and you choose to be offended by something that isn't even happening.

Sure, survivors definitely can use crouching as a way to taunt too. But please read the situation. If they just dropped a pallet, and starts to repeatedly crouch next to it while you break it, then yeah they're most likely taunting you. But it's done for so many more reasons than taunting.

Hey it's good old times when you do the crouching dance in sync at a generator... personally i am a fan of the bee hive manoeuvre... whilst fixing generators, one has a quick break to do some rapid squatting and then gets back to repairing... everyone else on the gen then takes a break and does the same amount of rapid squats... cycle repeats.

It's like bees communicating in a hive.

  • I think survivors have had enough perks turned into basekit...

  • @Roaroftime said:

They're really not "just as possible" though if you get hooked after the last gen pops, you're as good as dead in solo queue.

Nah. It's roughly the same as before... luck + Skill = escape.

Just had a game solo with 3 other solo's, we kept getting a person of the hook with a camping bubba on all gens done, but it always meant someone is going to get hooked in this specific scenario.

The new update actually helps tackle campers. I actually think in endgame the killer has been nerfed overall, as endurances are still being applied when 5 gens are done. Just need to keep the gate 99nd rather than open.

  • @ByeByeQ said:

I'm glad Dead Hard finally got nerfed. It was long long overdue.

    Is it dead though?

It might still be the best exhaustion perk in the game, especially in chase. No other perk is on demand and it can still be used to absolutely rob killers and extend chases. I had a Nea wreck me pretty good with it earlier.

Other exhaustion perks are often more like getaway perks. If a survivor uses their Sprint Burst, Lithe, Balanced Landing, Smash Hit or Overcome well enough, the killer has an easier time giving up on chasing that person for now to look for better opportunities. Especially when used by a healthy survivor.

Not so with Dead Hard. The killer just hit the survivor and is still in pretty close proximity to an injured target.

Victor still quivers in fear of the inevitable boot to the face he'll get after getting blocked by Dead Hard.

I press M1 when they press E... i immediately press M1 after the first M1 cooldown and they are down... that's the new Dead Hard... it buys them the equivalent of a missed swing. Now that might be more viable on the older quicker generators and fast healing... but coinciding with the extra gen times and slower healing... it's overkill.

  • @BubbleBuster said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3072450#Comment_3072450

i am glad it is dead indeed

it was only funny in a sad way

Funny + Sad don't positively mix.

Like i said, i don't use it... but if they nerfed a perk i actually used/liked i would not be happy... especially if it becomes almost useless.

No amount of numbers, famous YouTubers or bad players are going to change my mind... they went too hard on the nerf.

  • @BubbleBuster said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3072386#Comment_3072386

then it should ve gotten reworked and gotten a complete overhaul.

it was a bad design always. it was never NEVER smart decision to even make the perk. even if it were balanced, in a game that is about fun, a perk that makes the game less fun for one side just by simply existing is not a good design. period.

That is the point of my thread... but don't forget... "no it s totally fine that the perk is dead."...

  • Here is a actual scenario that just happend...

I just hooked someone and the gates have just been opened...

I now proximity camp the hook.

Survivor comes along and tries to unhook, i grab them and throw them on the floor, another comes along and tries the same thing immediately after i dropped the survivor, i get another grab and throw that survivor on the floor. I now chase the remaining survivor and get them too.

    4K's.

Yet if i was "Mature" and "took the loss" i would of had zero kills.

Camping is and can be valid and those who moan about it are the actual ones who should "be mature and take the loss".

  • @BubbleBuster said:

no it s totally fine that the perk is dead.

it is now time for people to learn how to loop without E like everyone did before Dead Hard was good.

people played back then and could loop the killer a long time with skill.

now they can do the same, i believe in survivors.

since i never used it, i m happy to not need relearning of loop lengths in order to judge if i can loop one more time and press E or if i should drop the pallet :)

No perk should be nerfed to near useless... None... Especially old long existing perks.

  • @BubbleBuster said:

on most perks i agree, they didnt get nerfed, they got deleted which is dumb (IW, Self-care, DS, spine chill, pop, ruin)

HOWEVER, I am very happy that dead hard is gone completely.

It turned bad players into decent ones, decent into good ones and good ones into unbeatable ones.

It required 0 skill and other perks that have a similar effect have a condition attached to it (deliverance requires an unhook, MoM requires protection hits) or they only work in niche circumstances (DS when getting tunneled, unbreakable when slugged)

Dead Hard worked in chases. Chases aren't niche. Chases are a big part of the game. It also had 1 condition which was... being injured... something that happens in nearly every chase and game.

It provided distance, complete safety, invulnerability and sometime intangibility when you somehow teleport through the killer.

It was absolutely miserable to play against if the survivor knew what they were doing since it had 0 counterplay.

Deleting mindgames, deleting skill, deleting mistakes just because the survivor pressed E is not good design.

Now, I am not talking about balance. Maybe DH was balanced, who knows? I don't. It was certainly a good perk but I don't know how much it influenced winrates of survivors. too many different variables.

What it was though is completely unfun to play against and really fun to use since E = more getting chased = more fun.

I wish they would ve just completely reworked it. An effect of avoiding and completely cancelling a hit the killer worked for should not be given for pressing E. There should either be a condition to it OR it should just not exist.

If anyone was struggling downing survivors using old dead hard... i would say it's not the survivors skill that is questionable. As for the other excuse of "it bought them enough time for such and such"... that's also gone in this patch... Killers have got more time now.

They did not need to obliterate the perk... they were a little too heavy handed in nerfing it... and i don't even use the damn thing.

From 59 characters in total I'll be able to get the perks of 54 characters. That's quite the feat after 2k hours of playing.

I only have 900 hours of gameplay. I will own every killer perk on all killers at tier 3.

Downside is survivors... all my survivors are level 40 except my Ash (Main), he already has every perk at tier 3. But i have no point in playing any other survivor, other than minor size, sound (soon to be changed) and cosmetics... they are the exact same.

When the patch drops, my survivors will be the exact same... that is the only survivor i play having all perks and all my killers with different abilities will suddenly have all perks.

Countless hours on grinding -> so not different from now?

Also, if OP is not interested in the "rewards" (bloddy cosmetic and charms), he can stop at P3, which wouldn't be to bad to grind to, esp with many stored up event offerings.

I am only interested in the perks. Addons, Items and cosmetics come second.

I believe i have now maximised my returns, as currently getting to P3 from P0 in the time available is impossible.

  • Well the deed is done.

I own all killers. Every killer that had under 170 perk tiers is now P1, the others i have left. Going by what is planned... i should own every perk on every killer and at perk tier 3 when the update goes live.

Since i will own all perks i should only be seeing items/addons and it will give me a reason to grind a little to get them back.

And hey... i even got some bloody cosmetic weapons a bit early :)

  • Thanks folk, i know it's groundhog day questions, but it just occurred to me that sitting on lvl 50 p0 on every killer when the patch hits may not be a ideal situation for me and i could maximise my returns.

Basically all my killers that have barely hit 50 i should P1 now and those that have pages of purple perks i should leave.

Going to lose hundreds of flans though if i do :(

No, he’s specifically complaining about how the system that was implemented a bit ago that makes it so it takes 12 total boxes to remove her traps is what will be the primary reason he thinks she will be nerfed. He’s very explicit about that in the beginning of the video

(0:30) “… (the changes in the midchapter patch) are nice but it’s not just those things that will get the Pig nerfed in my opinion, it’s the changes that we got some time ago to her box RNG. …”

Yes... which means a squad of survivors take longer overall to get traps off... taking traps off means not doing gens, the first survivor will be quick, the rest will be slower. Hence the "increased gen time + the trap disarming time giving the killer more time to kill the survivors." statement i made...

"12 total boxes to remove her traps" when EVERY survivor has a trap... and that does not actually mean anything bad, it just means OVERALL slow down IF you get a trap on everyone. EACH survivor has a maximum of 5 tries... not 12. It's only a potential problem if you use slowdown addons, with slowdown perks and the new patch that has more slow downs.

At the moment (Without the patch) pig is far from the strongest killer and most games don't look anything like what Otz showed. Infact, people who only feature one game to make a point should never be listened to. People who show multiple games back to back with the same perks and addons are the ones who will get listened to... as they actually have evidence.

In the last 6 months i have been against 40 or so pigs... i have never died to a trap in those 6 months and i have died on hook to a pig only once... i have escaped every other scenario. The 6 months months before that, i found her harder, dying to 2 traps and around 2 hooks. I am also a terrible survivor... but when i am up against a pig... my hopes are up on escaping. She is not at all scary or intimidating and easy to counter and loop.

I also own pig and found her more powerful before the newer system... however with the upcoming patch... she may return to the old strength hence Otz's statement that she might get nerfed.

    A stretch...

    But a healthy one.

With the new pig Rng coming in the next patch Otz shows the new extreme stalling power with different addon combos

That is not what Otz is talking about.

The "RNG" was implemented long ago. Otz is talking about the increased gen time + the trap disarming time giving the killer more time to kill the survivors.

Personally i think it's a welcomed addition to Pig who suffers in her default ability and is often a boring killer. As someone has already stated, her actual ability need buffing and talking about purple addons actually being somewhat useful and therefore "killer needs a nerf" is absolutely silly and think the heat has got to Otz.

How will it force you to hit the unhooked survivor? Literally just hit the person who unhooked if you're that close. If someone with OTR active comes and gets up in your face then hit them and tunnel them if they want to be chased this isn't that difficult.

To get the Endurance effect over early rather than when you are in a tight scenario.

It's exactly what i will be doing to prevent a wannabe hero blocking another survivor going down later.

Once that short base BT is over... it's hit time. Or if the base BT cancels the off the record endurance... insta hit time.
