not going to lie bit annoying there no info on that perk potential changes when it was introduce in the same ptb so not sure why that info can not be given at the same time as Jason if you can explain great if not thats fine, would suggest for future PTB that have perks for another chapter to consider given updates on any changes to them on the same post not have them separated

On another side note regarding jason silent shadow perk alot of people were saying 13 seconds of UD was not long enough and suggest increasing the time to a higher number seconds.

So I dont understand your reason to change it to per hook what do you mean 13 seconds of UD gives killers to much of a stealth identity? if you are able to answer that great or if you can get a dev to clarify that will be also great

You shouldn't lie; this is really good feedback. I totally hear where you're coming from. Thanks for the extra thoughts on Silent Shadow also, I think you've articulated really well what you don't like about it, which really helps us take the feedback to the team.

Hopefully you all don't make kneejerk reaction changes for a perk that's literally a fog vial without the fog. footsteps can still be heard. I'll never agree with people here, not to mention even if being used with light footed (ripley's perk) you have to be healthy, and injured is where this perk helps the most.

I think both the killer perks and survivor perks of this chapter should be enticing, I love the sounds of rampage on killers I play, I also love the idea of the survivor perks.

It doesn't feel like there is a point of giving feedback on killer perks when pretty much everyone said that all 3 were underwhelming (not worth running), and only one received changes. Silent Shadow is fine I guess, but you already know where the killer is coming from, and the other 2 perks are extremely underwhelming.

Hex: Scared to Death does not need to be a Hex. If the effect is too strong the hindered duration could be reduced, but having a perk that has to be earned, also be removeable is just DOA. Scared to death makes survivors lose 1.56 meters of distance over the 3s of hinder: (4*3)-(4)(0.87)(3) = 1.56. Brutal Strength ALSO makes survivors lose 1.56 meters of distance because the killer is locked in place for less time: (2.34-2.34/1.2)*4 = 1.56. Obviously killers like the Singularity exist, and there is a stacking potential, but this perk has to be earned and deserves to be useable by either removing the Hex, or making it stronger.

Rampage is just terrible. By the time this perk gets noticeable, survivors are just going to pre-drop to deny value, and there is really not any punishment for that. It could honestly be progressively higher haste on basic pallet breaks (remove wall token gain), but the value would obviously need to be reduced to 0.5%→6.5% instead of 1%→13%. If not this then something needs to be done to make it worth running.

Doesn't seem to be the case, at least not with the release of the chapter.

That's a shame if that's the case, the hex seems very underwhelming. And rampage seems like it'll get little use throughout a match.

The basekit changes apart from the spear removal and husk damage state delay are awful. Why does he need a 4.5 second delay because he happened to tp within 16m of a hooked surv is actually awful for a change and reducing the cancellation movement speed when he already had a standard ranged killers cancellation speed is awful. Alot of the consensus of this killer was positive both for and against, why are we adding these arbitrary basekit nerfs when majority of the complaints was about the addons being either problematic or downright useless?

  • can scared of the dark get some touch ups? Whole activation requirement that takes awhile all for an effect that needs another activation requirement that isn’t that strong and can be permanently disabled by survivors? Perk should either have the activation requirement removed or just not be a Hex.

  • So…

Jason is now further punished for canceling his projectile, despite the PTB delay on cancel being about the same as Huntress if I recall correctly, for zoning reasons. Yet he is also 4.4m/s and, unlike Huntress, only has one projectile which requires a hook or scrap pile (neither of which is guaranteed to spawn at whatever tile you're currently chasing in) to reload, which could mean dropping chase entirely depending on the tile since sone tiles are just miserable as a 4.4m/s Killer without a strong chase power. He really should be 4.6m/s without his projectile since missing the throw is so punishing.

I get the change to Silent Shadow, even if the other two perks needed changes much more in my opinion.

The add-ons changes are mostly fine, it's a shame that Coroner's Coffee was nerfed but it was expected.

Overall, nothing too surprising, disappointed that missing a throw still cripples you if RNG doesn't spawn a hook/pile in the looping path. Nice to see Silent Shadow being adjusted a bit.

Hopefully further changes are made later, but I hope the live release produces more feedback.

Killing off Fog Vials a week after release instead of waiting a bit tells a different story tho. I mean, your post is correct, but there is at least one glaring example that this is not always true. And this was really the perfect example of a kneejerk reaction.

People say they want a new meta but anytime a perk or item is released and they aren't straight trash everyone screams until they're destroyed. Even older perks like Plot Twist are suddenly a problem.

So it's pain res/dms and SB/Vigil every match, becuause that's what the serial complainers seem to want.

  • So Scared to Death and Rampage are being released unchanged in spite of how weak and situational they are?

I'll also say that for Silent Shadow, 13 seconds when you hook a Survivor is meaningless when A) it usually takes at least that long to re-engage with the trial after hooking and B) Survivors know where you are when you hooked a Survivor due to the massively loud and bright audiovisual cue they receive.

To be fair, the fact that it doesn't spawn at the start of the trial is a benefit, not a weakness. The problem with hexes is that they can very consistently be cleansed before they do anything because of survivors spawning near them or stumbling across them while moving to the first generator.

A hex that takes a bit to spawn is stronger than its peers in this regard.

While it is partly bhvr's fault, I think that people blindly following guides/CC's has degenerated a lot of players into strict formulaic gameplay loops, so whenever something forces them to deviate from the same cookie-cutter play-style its a problem despite there being ample tools to handle it.

  • I dont get why you guys kept the new survivor a secret and included their perks on the latest PTB, why include the perks at all if the survivor is not ready to revealed? Even more confusing if this upcoming patch is only including Jason and nothing else.

This still doesn’t make it good. Yeah it’s not gonna be like ruin and get insta cleansed but the problem is it CAN get cleansed despite it being not worth the value to be a Hex. Have the same problem with two can play but atleast that can be re lit.

  • This seems fine to me. I'm looking forward to playing him

I don't think it's about being a secret, it just wouldn't make sense releasing an original survivor alongside a licensed character. Not to mention, Jason Universe wouldn't have agreed to that either. Hence they're getting released 10 days apart. No point having a second PTB when they can fit both into the same testing.

I will be fully honest. These changes are horrible, Jason was already barely scratching lowest bottom of A tier, and then you further nerfed him. In DBD's 2026 meta where survivors are stronger than even S tiers like Nurse or Blight, Jason needed NOTHING BUT BUFFS.

  • @Balrog said:

This update is for The Slasher only since the Survivor and the perks are not releasing with the Chapter.

First of all I want to make clear: I'm a 50/50 Killer & Survivor Player. So no Bias here!

So what your saying is that Jason and the 'yet to be revealed' Survivor (or his/her perks) were tested on the same ptb but you won't share any Details of changes to said Survivor perks because the are a different chapter?
Given your recent track record of buffing survivors through the Roof (Vigil,Fasttrack,Hyperfocus - Stake Out, etc ) while also making sure most Killers stay at a solid C- Tier, I just can't believe you are going to Change anything meaningful to the new Surv. perks.
If you don't want feedback to something releasing in the future or can't/won't tell us about any changes made based on feedback because of whatever reason then don't test it together with the stuff you are willing to share details about.

And nerfing Jason is absolutely not needed. He was good to Play and to Play against in the ptb. Some of his addons needed some tweaking/reworks and the planned ones look fine. His perks on the other hand needed a complete overhaul because even with the changes to Silent Shadow they are just not worth equipping (outside of a Adept Jason ofc.)

I was somewhat hyped for Jason and planing to play DbD again after a year of Hiatus - but with no info given to once again problematic perks I'll wait until you say something about the perks and decide then if I come back or not.
If that means I miss the anniversary event or parts of it…. → 🤷‍♂️

  • I think that the new changes are fine but he shouldn't be punished worse than Huntress for zoning when he gets one shot before he has to lose even more distance in chase whilst heading to reload.

Also someone did the math and I agree his hex perk shouldn't be a hex especially since there are significantly better chase related hexes to run.

While I agree with that however Meta will also stay meta if Meta perks are never changed or nerfed

Without focusing on a specific meta perk I don't think a perk should be changed just because it's part of the meta. It could be meta for any number of reasons - it could be the only viable option, it could be a counter to a currently popular playstyle, it could be less effective but easier to activate than alternatives, etc.

If a perk isn't specifically overpowered then it's better to raise up alternatives to be equally viable rather than nerfing or reworking things to the lowest common denominator. To me having a stale meta isn't the root problem, it's a symptom of having very limited 'right' answers when it comes to which perks to run.

well thanks for letting me know at least

  • Why are we nerfing (much less not buffing) a killer that wasn't strong in the first place?

Why didn't his bad perks get buffed? Even the one that did is still mediocre.

No one is going to be running these perks post release hype. People want to run new perks but everything being released is just undertuned.

  • can't say i care for the silent shadow changes; was hoping for an ok stealth perk at the start that does NOT cost 2 perk slots and works on slower killers, but looks like we nerfed it because of mobility killers so now the stealth effect is only useful on mobility killers.

reminds me of nerfing thanatophobia so that only legion/plague can use it

Stranger Things Chapter 2 actually brought stuff literally no one complained about because not only it was usable and it had good synergy with existing perks. This was in response to a conversation involving a stream of people coming to a thread about Jason to complain about Cross Examination for some reason, not about Jason's perks.

But how often do you see the ST2 perks? TBTC has become meta by doing the same thing all the killer meta perks do (how creative and exciting) while I maybe see We See You occasionally. Dustin's perks are non existent. There also wasn't that much hype and talk about that chapter. Henry got his subsequent nerfs in relative silence, and how often do you really see him? Not so much for the most recent killer. If we get one useful perk out of a chapter it's a miracle.

Right, thread is going so fast is hard to keep up.

Cross Examination is another can of worms but this is not the thread for it, but in no way I think is a miracle to get a good perk from a chapter, at least from the survivor side. Before ST2, all survivor perks that came before found some use.

Vee had Ghost Notes and One-two-three-four.
    Michone came with Conviction
Orlea had Do No Harm (a little less used now due diminishing returns)
    Taurie had Shoulder the Burden
Belmond's perks never got meta but they weren't horrible either
    Lara brought Finesse

I don't know in what world survivor aren't getting amazing perks, specially with Elusive right around the corner and finding itself in more and more perks. When compared to Jason's perks, it makes them feel like garbage.

Aren't you kind of making my point? One good perk on Vee. One good perk on Michonne (with a massive downside). One good perk on Orela. One on Eleven. None on Dustin. None on Rick. One on Taurie (also gigantic throw potential). I'd say the only character that's had three decent perks in a while is Henry. Secret Project is actually very good on a gen blocking build, but people refuse to step away from the meta.

Vee's perks are not good lol.

    Michone's got nerfed.

Orela's is decent but was indirectly nerfed.

Shoulder the Burden is only strong in SWF.

    Belmont perks are awful.

Lara's perks are awful, Finesse is good in a low ping environment, gets zero use in the average 70+ ping matches.

No it doesn't furtive grants stealth and haste which is great for killers with no mobility silent shadow just giving stealth ain't that good

It also depends on the Obsession, while Silent Slasher has no prerequisites.
