I think it's the end for killer

Capture.PNG

Hey BHVR, as someone who's loved playing dead by daylight for the past 5 years, I'm struggling to play killer. Gens seem out of control, Gens pop so quickly these days the game just feels like it's constantly played at a fast pace for killer. I have no idea where my wins are going to come from playing killer without tunnelling, I really don't. Feels like they're so many god pallets on each map which is just ridicules. Every loop should be able to be minded gamed. I wouldn't even touch M1 killers in this state. God knows what it's going to be like when you add Anti slug and more Anti tunnelling mechanics. Killers should have the superior role not survivor. The way the game is going its basically going to be impossible for survivor not to have fun in each game that's when they eventually find a game. I can't imagine anyone wanting to play killer in the near future. As you can see from my stats I play both roles heavily but not in the last 8 months. I mainly play survivor 80% of my time which I never thought would ever happen. I know my post will fall on deaf ears and It will receive a lot of thumbs down because what I'm saying is going against the grain.

  • I would say at this point, it's fair to say that (overall) no one is having fun. Despite how far they seem to bend over backwards for Killer, it's not improving the Killer experience. There are no slowdowns that benefit Survivor and without comebacks or downtime on their end, gens are more valuable than ever. Despite what anyone says, it feels like the happiest state for the game was keeping Survivor micro, Killer macro, and letting everyone have busted mechanics and abilities. Now the roles have reversed and everything is incredibly limited. And on top of that, MMR is so unreliable that you're constantly copping wins and losses that feel unearned and unsatisfying.

  • I'm struggling to play survivor

    ha.jpg
  • Either every match you play has 20 hour teammates with Knightlight as your killer or you're the most unlucky survivor ever. Even if you're bad, escaping less than not even a quarter of your survivor games is insane.

I wholeheartedly disagree. It could be my individual experience but my kill rate has been blissful to say the least with hatch being a more limiting factor than generators.

You can say the sample size is too small but it's been like this for a while now, my overall kill rate stands at 73% or something similar, but this +85% range has been consistent for well over this month (25% of my 470 games of Singularity have been this way)

Now idk if this makes me good or lucky, but I can't relate to anything other killers complain about. I don't even camp or tunnel.

Is Singu your main? I don't have a main. I play most killers accept the one I know I'm not good with lol

  • How do you play. Do you care about escaping or not ? I don't like doing gens so I'm not interested in escaping. My fun is flashbang saves and chases. I think If you focus on trying to escape every game and that's your fun. The game is going to become very boring fast. I'm only thinking how I would think if I care about escapes lol. If you wanna focus on escapes that's all good :)

Like look at my escape rate. And I've always had fun playing survivor regardless. I've been streaming dbd for 2 years and never once got angry or frustrated playing survivor. I have bad night with games where I don't get a flashbang save or have what I would class as a fun chase. I always just think tomorrows another day. Playing survivor has so many lanes where you can have fun. Unfortually killer does not. I used to play fun builds with killer but that is something that died a long time ago lol

I think it's a joke. He has to be dying intentionally. His stats don't make sense any other way. And I think his 5 escapes are killer disconnects tbf.

The more I look at it the more I'm thinking the same lol

  • You could stand still all game and have a higher escape rate than 4%, something is fishy

Nice stats bro, you out here cooking people with Larry lol. What's your strategy and perks?

Mine KR sits at around 60-65 ish with my main and that's running nothing but add-ons. It'd probably be much higher if I didn't focus on cross maps and other stupid stuff. I don't feel the gen effect either though, I mean some matches I have 3 with kitted out toolboxes and Gen perks but that's a lose away without perks unless I play grimey and tbh I ain't got time for that.

This is where I think I should be. I used to be super altruistic but then they nerfed my favorite perks (and the playstyle, but it's recovered a bit since then). Then I took to meme builds but the 4k BP per trial wasn't so nice. Then I took to stealthing and playing gen jockey and that got nerfed. So I think I might go back to memeing.

Perks: Corrupt - Surge - Pain Resonance - Rapid Brutality

Add-ons: Kid's Baseball Glove and Soma Family Photo

Milk Corrupt. Place Biopods on the unblocked gens, enter chase. Break a few pallets, don't over commit, push people off gens. Commit to an easy chase after a few pallets. Make sure to place more biopods around the map for gens throughout the game.

    Hook, gen check, teleport.

Don't EVER commit to a chase 100%. Singularity is the most mobile killer in the game if you get a pod teleport. Push someone off a gen, get rid of a pallet, get an injure, down, doesn't matter. If you have the game sense to figure out which generator is possibly being worked on, teleport.

You want to be all over the map as much as you can. Most of my games end on 3+ gens remaining. Survivors have to basically never feel safe.

Ah I see nice strat and tips! I suck with Larry 😭. I'm gonna try your tips minus the perks 😉 though

  • I don't run regression perks as killer and my 30 day KR is 70%. And I'm not even good. I'm much, much more unhappy with my survivor experience. It's not so much about escape rate as enjoyment and agency. What I want my matches to look like is this:

    199c2af6ef018-screenshotUrl.jpg

Close, tight, down to the wire, anything might happen.

But what I often get is this:

    199c2af46e390-screenshotUrl.jpg

Hopeless, depressing, miserable matches where the killer ignores everyone but their unfortunate tunnel target and you have to worry if you'll be the next one.

Survivors have no way to make me feel this way as killer. I always have agency and I can win even when it's going horrible for me. As survivor, we're just doomed, often from the get-go.

  • I do wonder what happens to you to make your escape rate that low.

  • You are clearly smurfing, my friend, and the fact you got so many upvotes really shows this forum is full of bias people.

I guess I should give more context since my post is getting attention

I don't care that much about escaping, I rather have a fun game which I end up dying. Therefore, I try my best saving my teammates and dying for them

These are my most used perks by the way

Terrible build for anything other than getting bled out, but getting value out of all 3 in one match was actually an interesting challenge sometimes.

  • It's a classic SoloQ survivor experience. Out of 10 games, I manage to escape 2 or 3 times tops. Then there are games where I go too altruistic and get ''rewarded'' accordingly.

And of course games where my team mates are either allergic to gens or can't last 10 seconds in a chase. Sometimes both.

while soloq is awful i agree, it doesnt always reflect the escape rate. my escape rate 60% and im soloq.

Have to worry if you're the next one. What the hell. I never go into a survivor game thinking is this my time to be tunnelled. If you get tunnelled 1 in 10 that isn't problematic. Tunnelling is apart of the core gameplay of dbd. Hook states exist therefore tunnelling and camping exist too. Every game has it's pros and cons. If something is that bad and miserable why keep playing? I'm very curious. Most people stop playing a game they find miserable. It's not as bad as everyone makes out that's why. You all want the game to go into a certain direction without thinking about the bigger picture. You're breaking the game with what you want the devs to do. The game was in a miles better state when it was rank 1 - 20 and without Anti this or Anti that at basekit. That was peak dbd for survivor and killer. The best fun times I ever had. That's a fact

It's only bad when certain players choose to make it so. I'm not talking about tunneling because you're desperate and the match is almost over, or seeing the same person again and pursuing them even though you weren't looking for them. I'm talking about people deciding the first hook they get is going to die immediately. Sometimes it's one in ten but I've had days were I played ten matches and seven had hard tunneling in early game. I was hard tunneled three times in a row just yesterday, and those were just the consecutive instances.

I'm not miserable as killer because I have all the agency. I keep playing survivor because I play with friends. That's the whole appeal at this point. And many of my friends are burning out and leaving. But soloq can rot. I'd like it to be better but nothing is being done to make it so.

You all want the game to go into a certain direction without thinking about the bigger picture. You're breaking the game with what you want the devs to do

Could you enlighten me as to who "you all" is and what it is that I want the devs to do?

There's like three threads about 'genrushing' in any given week and every single thread about tunnelling gets derailed into 'what about genrushing then?'.

The difference is that survivors don't complain about losing, they complain about not getting to play on their way to that loss. If survivors gave a damn about losing, the 40/60 mark would get a LOT more pushback.

Because you don't care about what they're saying, you care about whether you can validate it or not. If they play Hag and have 1k hours and a 90% KR, does that mean they're correct? If they play Kaneki and have 60 hours and a 30% KR, does that mean they're wrong? It's an incredibly shallow attempt at engagement.
