surge already nerfed?!

really devs? really? you already nerfed the ######### out this perk before we could even test it? yall never change i guess 🤢

  • I may strongly disagree with how they went about the EGC nerf, but I definitely understand the reason it needed to be changed.

  • Wow, really? The only new killer perk was looking forward to, how sad really. 24 meters does feel like it will do nothing a bit too often to be a viable perk. 32 meters didn't sound op to me honestly. Wish they would have just tried this perk in the ptb before nerfing it.

At least we've got the Dying Light Rework.

its good when 1 gen is left and hooked person has adrenaline and needs more time ,. this perk will be op on swf once again

How can it be OP once again if its never been released ?

    Killers and their drama smh

  • I think that if the perk said the nearest 10 vaults will be blocked then that would be better for most maps rather than a radius.

Every perk has it's uses, I just feel like if it's a little overwhelming in a 3 gen plot then that's the Survivors fault and the killers opportunity to capitalise on it with the help of this perk.

Surge and Cruel Limits have their range at 24 meters at tier 3.

Wait, Cruel got nerfed as well to 24 meters? Lol, that perk already looked like it would be very situational. Definitely not going to use that perk.

Hopefully they'll get buffed again, I want more perk variety.

  • Second Wind was sidegraded.

It was 20 seconds outside of the terror radius

But now it's 30 seconds no matter what.

  • @Freudentrauma said:

They said values aren't final and might change until PTB and change until hitting life of course. It's a normal step during development a lot of perks and values get tweaked beforehand.

Correction, a lot of KILLER/KILLER PERK values get tweaked to make sure survivors have fun bullying them.

  • I'm actually mad. They always make their new killers and killer perks weak as $#%+

Good god people. They said the numbers were subject to change on the devstream.

No one said 'This is how it will be forever plus a day and we will never nerf it'. Slow your roll.

The devs don't have to answer for every little change and, if I were one of them, I'd stop giving reasons all together after some of the vitriol-filled/sarcastic posts some people make.

The knight in chining armor ready to save the day for the devs.

Just because they said in advance things are subject to change doesn’t mean people should agree with the changes and can’t leave their feedback on them. It’s not that insane either that if players disagree with changes that they would like an explanation why these changes were made in the first place.

Peanits did cover that now though and I can see why they changed Surge because it can be OP in some situations, but it’d have been nice to see it for myself.

We did mention that they were subject to change. That stream was recorded weeks in advance while the perks were still being balanced.

Basically we'd erred on the side of caution. On a small map like Coal Tower or in a three gen scenario, it could be overwhelming. If it's too good, that's going to make it hard to actually review feedback on the new killer (is it because the killer's too good, or just because of the perk?). If it's not good enough, worst case scenario we buff it before the update goes live. This is what the PTB is for, after all.

This is why we typically don't reveal numbers until they are final.

Well its the worse case scenario buff it

  • It's only been four hours since the update went live, and the perk isn't even available in public matches yet. We're going to wait a bit before pulling the trigger.

That's just a load of BS. Killers have received many buffs within the last year. They don't tweak them to let them get bullied. Killers aren't that weak anymore.

  • Not that big of a nerf. 24 meters is still a significant area. As for camaraderie, it only affects campers. I don't camp, so I don't care.

  • It wasnt nerfed.

As they said in the teaser for the perks and NOBODY listens.

"These values will change, these numbers will be meaningless by the time you even hear these words."

Nothing has been nerfed OR buffed, because they already told EVERYONE that these values would change, and that they were temporary.

I really hope that is just a personal opinion of yours that the perk was balanced around 3 gen strat. If there are 3 gens close togheter at the end then that is on the survivors and killers should not be punished for that or even balanced around it.

If you have to account for such a niche strategy like hard camping a 3 gen setup on a perk that in all likelyhood wouldn't have been very common/strong otherwise, then maybe the concept of the perk wasn't good from the start?

If anything the nerf pushes the perk to be worthwhile ONLY in a 3 gen setup (assuming the 24 meters is large enough to hit 2 very close generators).

The EGC change was for a very good reason. I don't think I even need to explain that one, but having the old RBTs with an end game build (toss Blood Warden in there just for good measure) was incredibly overpowered and took no skill to pull off.

The basic attack change is part of an ongoing process to standardize what a basic attack is. The ambush was one of the outliers as it was definitely not a basic attack. It required you to crouch and then charge it first to do something no other killer could do. By all means, there was nothing basic about it.

The reason is to make it more clear which attacks are and aren't basic attacks. It's not very clear what counts when something like an ambush counts while a hatchet doesn't. Both were powers, but only one was actually considered a basic attack before. We'll be reviewing other powers and making sure they're consistent going forward.

Hard disagree on the basic attack differentiation for clarification. Hillbilly and Cannibal's chainsaw looks like a chainsaw, not a basic M1 attack. Huntress hatchets look like a projectile, not a basic attack. Legion and Pig's Frenzy/Ambush look like a basic attack, but with the killer running fast at you. I mean, by your definition, shouldn't Nurse's blink attacks and Spirit's phase attacks not be considered basic attacks since it requires you to do something "no other killer could do"?

Not as weak as they once were, but most killers can't deal with cream of the crop survivors. Yes I can agree that there's only like 3-4 low tier killers left out of soon 17 total, but there's still only 2 that can truly deal with optimal survivors.

I'm worried about that last part. Cause if you guys decide to look at Legion and apply that change, you'll be obliterating a dead horse.

The only thing they got going now is that some perks synergize with Feral Frenzy's stab. Take that away, and Legion will be the single worst killer who can either use their power but not their perks, or not use their power, because of the dumb power regression only the Legion has.

(Spirit doesn't have to wait about five seconds to reuse her Haunting ability after hitting someone)

  • 24 meters, and I really had hope they were on the right path. Cruel Confinement is already bad because most maps have loops and pallets but few windows now the radius is smaller and now Surge gets nerfed to 24 as well? This is disgusting, Surge was going to be the best perk, WAS, it needs to go back up to 32 and Cruel Confinement needs to effect ALL VAULTS when the LAST GEN is popped.

  • So all the survivor perks were adjusted to be made stronger

All the killer perks were adjusted to be weaker because they could punish survivors for making mistakes

    Yep seems fair

The developers don't act randomly, they do things with reason, and I think it would be nice if the community gets to hear their thought process. That's all.

Nah I do. Unreasonable nerfs are not needed without seeing it through the playerbase first. Even if someone like @Peanits demonstrates or gives an example on where it can possibly be overwhelming and in which situations, that's just assumptions. 32 meters is a lot — 32 meters is just the radius. Imagine putting a 64 diameter sphere on the map, which has a volume of 137,000 meters around you. The formula for a sphere is (4/3)×3.14×Radius = Volume.

Now, with 24 meters, we have a sphere with a volume of 57905.84 meters around you.

I know these numbers are big, but really, Dead By Daylight doesn't have a lot of multi-story (Vertical) buildings, so most of that will go to waste. However, my point still stands, you're covering 24 meters in every direction. That's a lot.

Ah, I see, but a 48 meter diameter is a lot, you could get 2-3 generators from that. I can safely say you're guaranteed to get at least 1 generator if you position when you down the survivor.

If the generators are spaced out, there's not much you can do, survivors just outplayed you by not getting themselves 3-gen'd. :)

  • Here is something I have never understood...

IF “something” (Perk, Add On, Item) is deemed too powerful to the point where it would be borderline OP. Why not adjust it for THAT specific scenario.

So for instance, 32 meters might sound too OP in small maps but what about those big maps where the gens are spread apart?

Why would the game not automatically adjust it for a smaller map vs a big map accordingly?

It’s something I have never understood. Because you can’t pigeonhole ONE scenario where something would become too OP and downgrade it for the rest. I don’t know if that makes sense.
