  • Far more actually. I’m an OW and Apex fanatic, so DBD switched it up for me.

  • People are overwhelmingly negative on the game and for very good reasons, but the core gameplay is still intact. People hate to love the thing that they spend hours on because they care for the product, but yeah, you should totally come back.

New killers, new survivors, etc. DBD is most fun when not taken too seriously because as for me, if I don’t tell myself not to rage if I don’t even get 1 kill in, I’ll feel like garbage. Don’t let your mind get the best of you!

Sure, bugs are frustrating and all, but giving something a second chance even if it looks grim may prove it’s worth :)

  • Nurse & Blight. I’m pretty good or really good with every other killer, but these two are way too complicated for me to be able to perform well on average.

I don’t just suck at them, I’m absolute hot stinking garbage at them.

  • @Gruul said:

Maybe survivors and killers will finally come together and declare war the actual one true evil, corn.

Been on that. I legit just want to let the survivors do the generators while I landscape everything with Billy.

  • While I do appreciate the criticism the chapter has gotten, it’s almost been overwhelmingly negative for the big guy. I think otherwise. Not to be different, but I feel like they executed him well and introduced a both, satisfying and pretty good killer to the roster.

I think he was a success, both for the games health and his overall design.

  • Oh yeah, but it happens to be all on you. The killer really benefits from someone who has a game plan or can effectively execute a strategy.

They’re a great pair of killers, but while playing them, you need to think about the game as if you were playing a chase game. You need to checkmate the survivors at one point with the use of slugging.

  • I went against the insta break pallets build on Wraith. I wasn’t even crying, my friends and I were laughing are asses off. We somehow had done 4 gens and I escaped through hatch, but Jesus is that overwhelming

  • Pennywise is a guarantee— The only reason why BHVR didn’t get te Pennywise license when they went for to (McCote admitted to it) was because they were working on IT 2, so they weren’t available to start an open discussion about it.

With the release of the New Candyman movie, I could see it both situations happening again. Either it’s an original vampire/werewolf chapter because they are working on the movie, or they use DBD as a platform to promote their new movie.

Alien or Predator are basically guaranteed too since they’ve spoken about it in the past, but if it isn’t already obvious, the reason why these horror icons aren’t in DBD yet is because they’re box office successes and much bigger franchises than the last video game ones we’ve been getting.

It should now be more than obvious why they’re going for video game licenses, but in no way should they continue to pursue them. I’d love to see the next big horror-movie-series icon in DBD.

  • I’ve played for many hours on end on both sides when it comes to Spirit. When I play as Spirit, it seems like the survivors need to guess. The only way they get away from me is if I screw up myself.

When I’m playing against Spirit, I feel hopeless. There’s too many times where I’ve tried faking a window, walking, changing my scratch marks, running back to where I was, and nothing works.

She’s just conceptually broken. There’s no meaningful counterplay to her, and there has never been any. If you pallet stun a Spirit when she un phases, consider yourself lucky because there was no way you would’ve known.

  • By not taking it too seriously. If you set out to win every game, one performance of yours will underwhelm you. Furthermore, if you play two killers that are way better and too overwhelming comparatively to the rest of the killer roster, it probably gets stale.

The issue is that they’re conceptually broken unlike other killers who have issues due to other flawed mechanics in the game. It’s just that the tools those two killers have make the game different.

I play the game and switch out which killer I’m going to play every other match, and I have tons of fun while not losing really at all. I think it has to do with them conceptually, then your mindset.

  • @CakeDuty said:

Making Kindred and a totem counter basekit is all I'm asking for. Just turn Kindreds killer aura reading down from 16m to 6, so you can still see the killer is around hook, but no give any information where the killer is heading after a hook. Then have Kindred give extra killer aura reading. These two changes will give solo survivors the same amount of information as SWF has.

Otherwise they need to add a ping system with messages like "Going for unhook.", "Doing a gen" etc, and thought I love that idea, I feel like it'd be kinda out of place in DbD.

I agree, Kindred should be base kit for solo survivors. It makes up for the already lacking information that soloQ survivors have.

Oh and on the topic of matchmaking and closing the gap on SWF’s and SoloQ, I really hope when SBMM is fully out, the developers categorize their killers.

It’s ridiculous to put a strong pair of survivors against a Pig or another bottom tier killer. I know it’s subjective, but many of the lower bracket killers are agreed upon.

On the contrary, a competent and good Nurse, Spirit, Blight, Hag, etc… (maybe) should be going against strong stacks and survivors.

What CMWINTER proposed was great. Make the pool of players tighter for those players that play the best of the best killers, while widening your skill field (to find stronger and weaker survivors) as lower tier killers.

This is necessary because DBD doesn’t work like other games that have SBMM. It’s an asymmetrical game where some killers are just overwhelmingly better than others, and for those that aren’t as strong as the rest, this would allow them to see an okay pick rate.

  • I don’t think it’s for the reasons you gave. I think it’s entirely based on the player, just like a good number of other games.

So what do I mean? I remember my first DBD match. It was against a Doctor. I thought about DC’ing when I saw him walk past and it scared me. When he came close to me, found me, I DC’d.

Wow, scary! What do I do as a survivor now? Chase the killer, Flashlight click, and screw around while being altruistic. It’s not the developers fault, it’s that dead by daylight is a Tom & Jerry game.

The killer is more afraid of the survivors than the survivors are afraid of him 🤣

  • He’s my first killer to be P3 LVL50. I don’t consider myself a master at him, but there’s a few things that make him way easier:

    1) People who pre-throw pallets against Nemesis, especially in T1, follow a similar pattern. They go to the other side of the loop to continue it, which allows you to flick your aim towards where they’re predictably going.

    2) Just smack them. There’s no need to infect them when they’re dancing left and right like zoo animals. Just slug them right in the face and keep chasing them.

There’s a time and place for everything, and this couldn’t be further from the truth with his infect attack.

    3) People make it seem like Marvin’s Blood is a waste because once you get to Tier3, there’s no additional benefits to it, so it’s rendered useless. Well, his yellow bracelet and Marvin’s Blood are by far his strongest add ons.

Zombie speed is nice, but the detection add on fixed how stupid the A.I. can be sometimes. Tier3 sounds minimal, but if you get all your timings right, it’s scary.

    4) Okay, last thing. When there’s a zombie nearby you’re eyeing and you’re simultaneously keeping a survivor hostage in a loop, keep double-backing. Let the zombie cover one blind spot or cover the survivors back.

The survivor will either need to throw the pallet down, killing the zombie but taking a hit at the same time, or… run to a dead zone.

You are propably THE kind of killer who cant put a pressure on survivors and then when you have one hook and all gens are done you face camp poor dude with an idea that survivors will try to rescue them en you noed them all.

So cut your crap about justyfing tunnelling and camping. These are by killers who cant event play tactically pr chase one guy and ignore all gens which are beibg repaired 5m from him.

And then he cries "your fault, you were gen rushing!"

No, actually. Stop with these hypotheticals. I do just fine and nearly never tunnel or camp, but when I’m having a poor game and I need some sort of pressure, hell yeah I will!

Played maybe 10-12 games today as killer, don’t remember camping or tunneling once. I just remember ending the game way before they got the chance to escape. Plus, if I were that type of killer, I wouldn’t be red ranks right now. I’d be hardstuck because you don’t pip like that.

So yeah, I think I fair just fine without these “strategies” I previously mentioned, but there are times where I tunnel (At 1 or 2 gens left to create some sort of pressure, and only if I’ve got like 1 or 2 hooks or none at all). or camp (In the situation where everything’s repaired, exit gates are open, and I want a kill). Plenty of ways to go about saving that survivor.

And last but not least, if you could read the actual content of my post correctly, you’d obviously see that I don’t really care at all about gen rushing because there’s perks to counter that, just like there’s perks that deal with tunneling and camping. Yet again, another individual who fails to read the very last paragraph of my post which completely is the opposite of that of what you’re saying.

Anyways, I’m tired of arguing with the “you’re that type of killer”. It’s obvious that they and you don’t read the actual body of text because of your ignorance. I’m ending my side of the discussion here.

  • @thisisntmax said:

These are the same people who say this but then also complain on the forums about body blocks, swf, flashlight saves (because looking at a wall is hard) and "second chance" perks when using four slow down.

Don’t remember once complaining about this, probably because I’m a survivor main myself :) And if I was, I wouldn’t care because I clarified that what the community finds stupid and dumb are tools that can be utilized on both sides :).

I don’t know how many times today I said “Ugh, he or she tunneled me. It’s fine, we won anyway and they were justified in doing so because they had 0 pressure and the game was going to end”. Pretty abnormal behavior from a survivor player that understands why they tunneled, am I right? No, I’m being fair.

If I had a clip, I’d show you.

If anything, I’m a clicky decisive strike + Head on user. By your definition, I should hate myself! But no, I’m just being understanding and fair.

    @BioX said:

Seems like you care a lot tbh.

Also imagine willingly staying bad at a game you put time in....

I really don’t… hence why I am not taking your second part seriously. I’ve seen my fair share of great and tournament killers that camp/tunnel when a very bad game isn’t going their way, same with streamers that need the upper hand in very poor situations. If you bothered to read my whole post, you’d see exactly when and where I would condone tunneling and camping :), but if you fail to see that, it’s not my problem.

Now that I have your attention, when do I condone and tunnel? Only in matches where I’ve done poorly or the survivors have just done too overwhelmingly well at 1-2 gens left and the survivors are as competent as ever.

Thats the only time when I would tunnel/camp. I’m not having fun, but the survivors are having a blast! Why shouldn’t I at least make it competitive for myself & them? Maybe just maybe, a 3v1 would make my chances even greater to win.

  • @Northener1907 said:

    Title. And why?

    I wanted twice.

First time was survivors were so strong with infinite loops. It was so unfair, i am so glad they fixed this. Because i was so near to stop play this game.

Second time, they reworked my fav killer. I tried new version but i never felt again i am playing with Freddy anymore.

I haven’t really, but I’ve gotten super frustrated in the past. Earlier today, I couldn’t perform a vault because the vault and heal animation are in the same button and the Cheryl on the ground was blocking the window. Went down for it and got SOOO pissed.

We still got out and I took a hit for the Cheryl, but especially on console, watch out for your surroundings! It could be life or death if you screw up your teammate!

  • Blight. He’s like a mathematical equation to me. Too complicated to think where to put and how to flick. Too much work.

It used to be Nurse, but I noticed that all I needed to do is charge it up a little bit more than I had been doing.

I play a lot of FPS, so while Spirit isn’t exactly anywhere similar, my tracking abilities crossed over well to DBD.

I wish I were better at Billy, though. I’m just okay with him.

  • @Sup3rCatTree said:

Bruh I'm sick and tired of tying essays for killer mains like you complaining about survivors even though they don't play survivor. I'm not even going to bother at this point.

Probably have double the amount of hours on survivor than killer, but go ahead. Last but not least, I never implied that I do it often. I was just saying that in the worst of the worst situations where survivors have so much pressure on the killer, getting one person out for game is the best way to go about it.

I wouldn’t tunnel or camp someone if I didn’t need to make some type of pressure at a very stressing time. You see this in tournament play and in really sweaty games, killers sometimes tunnel/camp to gain the upper hand or to make pressure in a very bad situation.

  • I’ve played it 4 times today. I’ve 4k’d on them with Bubba, Spirit, & Nurse. The map is just bad. All 4 games were as boring as they come. I think the general consensus is that the community enjoys its aesthetic, but despises the layout of it and even from someone who’s played RE2 like 6 times, it’s still too clustered to work with.

  • Balancing a multiplayer game is probably near impossible to do and work with, but there’s some things that the balance team has to understand & see:

    1) They need to align soloQ survivors to an optimal level/SWF. Before killers start whining, it allows a more precise balance to both of the roles.

    2) They need to remove breakable walls. A silly and stupid side-objective that prolongs chases (when you’re in the chase and need to break it), which is the exact opposite of what you want to do. Sure, get them out of the way at the start of the match, but you can’t always.

That should suffice as a stepping stone. Oh and by the way, revert Billy. SWF is an issue because it’s so vastly better than SoloQ.

  • @Hoodied said:

Honest to God 1v1 killers probably are impossible to change without making them more problematic and nobody likes facing them, killers should be made to work as a 1v4, like Blight, Nurse, Spirit, etc

However killers like Nemesis, Pyramid Head, Legion, and slinger are incredibly hard to Balance while being basically impossible to make fun to play against

Spirit and Nurse are probably the worst 1v4 examples you could’ve given. They have extremely strong map pressure if played well, but they’re just about the most oppressive and possibly conceptually broken killers in the game.

  • It’s an asymmetrical game. Your feelings don’t matter as much as you think. If the survivors goal is to escape, although it may seem RNG-based, they successfully escaped your wrath.

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

Killers don't even bother putting your cakes out there during the event, all the survivors just wanna be out in 220 seconds for their crowns.

I have like 400+ cakes and I’m rank1. Even when I get the occasional 2k, I get 120k-130k. I’m not unhappy. Maybe y’all just need to play tougher. It’s the hard truth.

  • I use them every time. There’s some perks that are just not worth my time and effort, so I’d rather use my shards to get blood points to get teachables I actually want. I don’t care if it costs me 2k shards, at least as I have a plan for them it’s fine, even if it means It’ll be gone in a matter of seconds.

I wouldn’t call it a waste either, more of an organized pursuit for bloodpoints. Maybe 40-60k.

  • Xeno (that’s the only other name I know, and to be Frank, the guy that rages the most).

    1. Educational and Entertainment. I love learning new tips & tricks, but I also love having a good laugh!
    2. Who are your favourite content creators and why? They can be big or small. Scott Jund, Otz, D3AD Plays, and Sweh. Really funny, constructive, and skilled players.
    3. How long do you watch a video for OR what's your preferred video length? As long as I'm content with what I'm watching, I'll watch it for hours on end.
    4. If you watch streams, how long do you watch a stream for? An hour to a couple.
    5. For videos, do you prefer watching survivor content, killer content or both? Both.
    6. If you watch streams, do you prefer watching survivor content, killer content or both? Both.
    7. Out of the content creators you watch, who's video thumbnails do you like the most? Sweh's.

  • What killer(s) were you playing?

Were your cosmetics hurting your possibilities of getting some loops?

Have you compared your perks & general killer skill to that of the survivors you're against?

All these questions, at least for me, need to be checked before entering a match. I love Spirit's white hair, but it's so detrimental that on some loops that are really hard to see (for survivors), it becomes a detriment because your hair is now poking out of the already ginormously tall loop. Some killers just suck at cutting down on the looping tools survivors have, which sucks. I commend you, though, for talking to yourself every game and trying to cool off. I guarantee you that you're a superb killer, it's just that even the best sometimes get outplayed. Nothing to be ashamed about. It's annoying, but it surely is a lot of fun when you get the 12 hooks.

  • There was a really great Puppers skin on Twitter that I saw for the Light Of The Fog event, and I really think that BHVR should consider adding it as a legendary skin to the game and all the profits or the majority go directly to Puppers!

  • I run: Undying, Ruin, Monitor & Abuse (or Save The Best For Last), BBQ & Chili.

  • Playing against a good Billy is leagues better and more fun than a Bubba. He had counterplay (still has) and felt like an absolutely blast to play against even when he was really good.

    —-

I don’t really understand why they nerfed his base kit.

  • I mean, the best of the best will make a killer look good, but the general population is just average, so if you have a killer that is average at something + an audience that’ll also not practice them to their hearts content and become gods at them, then a consistent pattern will show. Otherwise, a inconsistent pattern will show because you’re basing them off of what they’re truly capable of when played at their best, when the average player won’t ever be able to take notice of that or even reach that.

It’s a much safer bet to just compare them imo, and one last thing, Nurse and Spirit are ridiculous. One avoids everything in the game, the other leaves you guessing. There’s no meaningful counterplay to them, hence why they’re top-tier. It’s good, but they’re conceptually too powerful.

  • Yeah, it’s absurd. I’ve played about 40-50 games this anniversary, which is nothing, but have been able to prestige 5 characters.

The thing is, this is all with the help of people bringing cakes, and well, cakes are currently common. When it goes back to normal, the grind will be ever so more painful again.

To me, I think they should reduce the amount to get to lvl50 to 1M + perk rarities no longer exist, providing you the purple variant upon getting the perk.

This is especially true for one perk called..: BB…

  • Honestly, I think the Twins & PH deserve to be A, even if it was A-. I think they’re strong enough.

  • I think it’s an exaggeration, it’s just that survivor mains make ridiculous claims and suggestions that would make killers more laughable than serious.

It’s what you get when the player doesn’t play both of the roles. You don’t have a fair perspective and many of what a survivor/killer may find unfair goes both ways.

  • Add 2 more bloodlust tiers and we have a deal /s

  • @miketheratguy said:

I don't myself, though we could still get a few more skins. They've covered the mains, but we're still missing Barry and Wesker. I also love (LOVE) RE7 so I think it would be great to have Jack and Marguerite as killers but I also think that it would be difficult to find a place for them. Without spoiling the game for anyone who hasn't played it Jack's most logical role as killer would be one that's already the same as some other killers and Marguerite has specific gameplay elements that make her threatening which couldn't really be pulled off well in this game (in the practical sense).

I'm surprised that I've never seen anyone else mention Mia, I'd like having her as a survivor. Same with the other guy, what's his name? The brother? Joe Don Baker of the swamp? Lol punchy grizzly man. Can't recall his name.

(Stage spoilers). An RE7 chapter has to happen. Jack had and still has many more creative possibilities than Nemesis. Just a variant of the swamp with the layout of the Bayou would be enough.

I love Jack and would like to see him in the game but if they represented him properly (again, spoilers for those who for some reason haven't played RE7 yet) he would either be an old man who chases you with a freaky garden implement (cool), a chainsaw type of weapon (already have two killers that fit this mold), or a completely impractical giant mutated abomination. I don't really see a lot of people being excited for the first option, even though I'd enjoy it.

The only core thing Jack needs to do to be popular is to be able to talk in and out of chases, just like an advanced version of Trickster. It’s what would ultimately make him... unique.

  • I think they’ve got to give us more escape cakes, envelopes, puddings, etc. every time we Prestige. It would not only greatly reduce the grind, but it would provide an incentive to prestiging.

  • The developers aren’t nearly as praised as much as being hated. I think they do a fantastic job, and although there may be some issues here and there, they’ve been operating the game well.

    Totally!

  • Otz literally said that he’s given up giving advice to the developers because they don’t listen, and everything you mentioned was complained about by the general playerbase too.

  • They need permission to change it. I’m pretty sure they said that when they changed the Game, but don’t be rest assured about that.

But if we’re going along with this, have you ever thought why Laurie and Michael only have 1 cosmetic? It’s probably because the license owners aren’t currently interested in changing an aspect of the game.

This though, is true. Just like they said in the Stranger Things Anniversary stream, they need to show the license owners before they go along with their proposed product.

So what’s probably happened is that the license has either been discontinued, or the license owners aren’t interested in viewing a change to their product.

It’s not as simple as you may think.

The Halloween license was recently renewed so we can only hope.

Guess I’m wrong, we can only hope!

  • There’s no way you believe that the game is killer sided or the devs favor them...

  • The changes don’t need to be that deep, and the A.I isn’t an issue. The main issues with Nemesis are:

Wristband should be base. The detection cup of a zombie is horrible and only gets better if you run this add on.

Marvin’s blood should have a nerfed version base kit. The mutation % is not rewarding enough for how unforgiving your secondary is.

Last but not least, remove the contamination hit sprint burst.

    Then he’s strong.

  • Survivor: Keys

Killer: Spirit and I would say Nurse, but she’s just conceptually broken that it would require to gut her to mend the issue.

  • Really good guide. In red ranks, I’ve done pretty darn well with him. I’d like to mention that CI is actually not bad at all on him and serves his early game mismatches.

He does need buffs though and I’m surprised you didn’t mention Marvin’s Blood. That’s, in my opinion, his best add on because it basically triples the amount of mutation you get.

Fully agree on the perks. I’m currently running BBQ, STBFL, Ruin, POP/Corrupt.

I think he needs a base kit nerfed version of Marvin’s blood, his bracelet being base, and no sprint burst after the initial contamination.

  • He needs the bracelet & a nerfed version of marvens blood to be base kit.

He also needs the contamination hit to not grant a sprint burst.

Then he’s strong and the difference between not having these addons vs. having other ones or not having any at all is drastic.

The bracelet makes zombies more often than not useful. What people don’t seem to get is that the A.I. isn’t the issue (outside of getting stuck), it’s that their detection is really poor.

Marvin’s blood is too strong, but his base kit mutation needs to go up.

Contamination into Sprint burst is so stupid.

With all due respect and I agree with your point, Nemesis becomes that fast in Nightmare/Inferno. I don’t know if he needs to be that fast.

  • Good job on this post! While I do disagree with some very slim points and haven’t had any server issues or console issues ever, I greatly appreciate the post nevertheless. To those who’ve had issues, I hope for the very best! This is urgent!
