No the anniversary event is in July.
Oh i'm sorry, I guess my comment was a little preemptive and I must have just been thinking about the RE chapter, thanks for the clear-up!

Simple answer: It's not in July, it's in June.

Yeah well they're undead and unlike Freddy, haven't been shown to be "beatable" in a sense in canon yet.
Makes sense.

Title. No one but greasy SWF survivor mains want to play on that map. It's trash, it's outdated, and it's survivor sided even more than the rest of the game.
Agreed for the most part, but I just want to add that in my own experience I don't have fun playing on it as survivor either.

What's your first dbd memory?
Started around a month ago, and the first game I played, I played with some friends got facecamped at basement hook by a bubba, defiantly an interesting introduction to the game.

Huntress, In my experience Deahtslingers can be pretty toxic, and Huntresses a bit less so. Not saying all Deathslingers are toxic and all Huntresses are chill.
-
@Mandy said:
My definition of toxic may be different, but I don't find using things that are in the game as toxic - what I do find toxic is people's behaviour in after game chat, with slurs etc.
Same, I'm glad this is the general consensus!

@ChiSoxFan11 said:
There is nothing in the game -- perk or add-on -- that I consider toxic, from either side of the table.
When I play killer, I run against BNP's, keys, syringes, etc. all the time -- none of that is "toxic". They're simply game mechanics being used by the survivors to achieve their goal of escaping. Same with flashlight builds, body-blocking, sabo builds, etc. All of those are strategies in the game survivors can use to keep themselves alive and escape -- not toxic.
The same goes from the other end -- when I play survivor, nothing a killer runs -- even a Mori -- do I consider "toxic". Playing a Stridor Spirit, or you're a Nurse /Oni slugging away with Infectious Fright, or an Undying/Ruin Blight or a Tombstone Myers? All part of the mechanics of the game, and none of that is "toxic".
PEOPLE are toxic -- not the game, or mechanisms in it.
Agreed.

I've been asking too many killer questions lately. So why not a survivor one for once? My answer to this question is... Jeff Johansson. What about you? Name that survivor - if you DO remember correctly.
I believe the first person I ever played was meg because my friends told me she had good perks, but then for most of my early surviving I played with Bill, then now I've switched over to Nea.

I don't really mind them removing some Offerings, Bloodwebs are cluttered enough as they are and i never really used these anyway.
Question is if they're gonna put in a new Ultra Rare one, cause with Ebony removed, that sets the counter to 0 Ultra Rares.
Yes they likely will as the achievement is still a thing. If they completely remove them it would be nice to see some sort of BP exchange or something so they weren't just a waste of BP.

I'm a huge Silent Hill fan since I'm a teenager. So, as I started to play DBD after the Silent Hill chapter release (and as my partner gifted it to me pretty quickly), I always have been a Cheryl main.
Also, Cheryl (who will always be Heather to me) is my favorite character. I discovered Silent Hill when I was a teenager. I think I was like 17. I went into a group of French content creators. One of them was making a Silent Hill 3 playthrough.
I watched Silent Hill 1 and 2 after that. I played them a bit, but I was too scared to finish them.
The reason I main Cheryl!
Awesome! Thanks for the response!

If I am being honest I don't know why a survivor would never not be played since at the end of the day survivors are just skins with perks that can be taught to everyone else. There is no uniqueness to survivors besides their look.
But for a killer I never see. I never see twins.
Regardless, there are survivors people prefer the look or cosmetics of, and so naturally there are less played survivor characters.

This is because ruin is the only hex perk that prevents you from slamming gens and is very clear it is already active. Do you think survivors will stop to cleanse blood favor or crowd control? Those perks are so bad, it is actually a waste of time to bother cleansing them. The only reason it even happens is for the extra bloodpoints.
I get that, but i'd say if crowd control stays up all match it can work really well with a bunch of builds. Other than that instance, I get what you're saying and I agree that they need buffs.

It's Risk vs Reward. And the argument also depends on whether you think a perk combo is stronger because of its effect or because of its consistency.
Ruin + Undying is arguably the stronger effect (since Ruin is the strongest regression perk and Undying just makes it last longer), but it can be removed. Allows you to play with all 4 perk slots engaged, but lose both Hexes and your build is cut in half.
Ruin + PGtW is more consistent since you have Pop to fall back on when Ruin goes kaputt, but it results in the killer always playing with three perks at any given time since Pop cannot be used while Ruin is active.
I do think most people skew towards the side of consistency being better in DbD though; I definitely see the Ruin/Pop combo more often than Ruin/Undying these days.
Thanks for the reply, this helps!

All right, Pop requires you to waste time going to kick a gen and often forces you to choose between regressing a gen or going for a chase. Undying just let's ruin last a bit longer so you don't have to worry so much about gens.

Chase in general are great moments but,
when there is a gap of skills betwen the two players, it's become more like a chore than everything else.
I prefer chasing the survivor with the same skill level as me rather than the one I will down in 2 seconds or the one that I will chase for 10 minutes.
Just like other game, the fun part is fun when the skills of the players are close.
So true. I don't want a sweaty comp team but I also don't want a bunch of 8-ranks.

Hi all! Survivor main here! This question might sound salty and/or bait-y but I genuinely want to know something! This is not an anti-Killer post, this is not an anti-perk post, this is not meant to provoke anything negative.
Do you enjoy chases? Be honest!
So often I've been seeing Starstruck paired with the terror radius increase perk (which is a clever build!) or the Michael 'Exposed' perk. Those Killers who didn't have that (and most who did) also have Sloppy Butcher.
Now let me clarify something! I've played this game for a long, long time. I understand that a shorter chase means quicker return to applying gen pressure. I'm not asking for reasons behind the tactic, I get it. I've just noticed that at the rank I'm at now chases are like... Not a thing. At all. I'm seeing red rank tier 1 Survivors run for 5-15 seconds max and get downed. And my casual playing self sure isn't doing any better. 🤣 In 23 rounds tonight I saw two Survivors escape and one only got it by a pure chance hatch. Every other one was a very short round 4k with basically no chases.
Chases are my favorite thing about this game, I really love seeing well executed plays where Killers mindgame me and lure me to a hit. Of course I am excited if I manage to outsmart them and escape. But between 7/23 of my rounds tonight being against Bubba, 5 against Spirit (4 who had Stridor), and a surprising amount of Exposed perk, this was personally one of my least enjoyable nights I've had in DbD. Not because anyone was doing anything wrong but because the chase was ending with one hit right out the gate - it was boring.
I know so much of this is because the game railroads even casual or not skilled players into red ranks where people are good and do play seriously, but just... It shocks me how little Killers seem to want to do any kind of chasing.
I'd also love to know what your favorite part of being a Killer is since I rambled a bit about my favorite part of Survivor! 😊Happy gaming, everyone! <3
I enjoy chases, but I enjoy winning a lot more, so I find I generally have more fun when chases are short but still include mind-gaming and mechanical challenge.

Yeah for sure, though I think this would have to become an even larger issue within the game for BHVR to address it, so all we can really do is hope.

It is really all RNG, depends entirely where the totems spawn. Generally 1/5 totems on each map will be nearly impossible to find without a map.
So if you get lucky, ruin/undying is pretty awesome, and its like 2/5 chance each time you use it that it won't get cleansed the whole match.
Ruin/Pop isn't that great because its only 1 totem to find and chances are it's out in the open for all to see or in plain sight of a generator. And survivors generally ignore ruin for the first 2 gens anyway.
Yeah I get that.

But, if you run 4 hex perks, you are now at the risk of having 0 perks the whole game. I think that stands to reason that you should be extremely OP if all 4 of those hexes stay up. That is the point of them. They are indirect game delay. the problem is survivors are so used to slamming gens no matter what that they can't fathom the idea of having to do another objective.
"the problem is survivors are so used to slamming gens no matter what that they can't fathom the idea of having to do another objective." - I don't think this is very accurate, as in a lot of higher-rank games ruin (very commonly run) gets destroyed pretty fast, and if not it is an objective a lot of survivors keep in mind as it lowers their ability to do the primary objective. I don't sea lot of what you're saying, but maybe I am just a little inexperienced and haven't played enough games to determine if what you're saying is actually true.
Also, running 4 hex perks means you're likely running one protection perk, making the three or two other hex perks fairly hard to break. Either way you get a ton of time waste or an op perk in this case.

Agree, it kind of annoys me when people say "you are immature to get mad at someone pressing ctrl", as that is a ridiculously reductionist argument.
Someone "pressing ctrl" and tea-bagging, is actually using the limited controls at their disposal to send you a message, and it is usually one of asserting dominance, e.g. you got outplayed at that pallet, now I teabag, or you got outplayed that game (nothing to do with the balance of the game, ever) now I teabag at the exit gate for the longest possible time, whilst denying you points on a final hit, to add insult to injury. When you combine this with the absolute stress-fest which DBD gameplay can be, it can really make the game worse.
Absolutely, you explained the tea-bagging thing perfectly, thanks.

I'm not a malicious player so I tend to miss how things can abused lol. Your input is appreciated! ^^
Maybe the simplest way to get out of a hide and seek situations would be to have a concede option appear for the killer after a certain amount of time has passed and the game hasn't progressed. That way a killer can leave, keep all their BP, and not have search around for 10+ minutes.
Yeah I get this, but maybe something more gameplay oriented instead of just flat out conceding, then again I'm too tired to think off one so I agree lol.

@Alice_pbg said:

there's no advantage for the killer.
if he stays in one gate, all you have to do is open the other.
if he patrols both gates, just gotta run out the open one.
endgame builds only work because people are almost dead already, if everyone is healthy, all you're gonna get in 1k. (assuming people aren't playing bad of course)
granted, the killer opening the gate at any point should get a time to activate, after 15 minutes of a trial for instance. Just so 1 person can't just force the game to end as soon as it starts.
I think it just gives the killer too much control of the game, but I see your reasoning.

@FancyMrB said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2212271#Comment_2212271
I didn't think this all the way through clearly ^^" You are totally right. Being able to open the gate whenever could be abused/ give advantage to the killer which isn't my intention here.
Yeah I kind of assumed you just hadn't thought about it fully yet, but I thought I might as-well put that out there for readers who were thinking about that part. Btw, I like that you're thinking about ways to stop hide-and-go-seek in games, so dont think I disagree with your post as a whole :)
