It's disingenuous to point to the steam charts and say the game is dying when:
1) The pandemic happened, which inflated the numbers drastically. Look at the figures from March onwards. Of course there will be a drop off after that.
2) The average number of players is around 34,000 according to steam charts, which is higher than the figures in May 2020, two months into the pandemic. The average before March was in the 20,000s.
We all have our criticisms about the game but to say the game is dying is false.
Pandemic quarantine was in Mars/April/May, not later. Pandemic is still here, some country are in quarantine atm (in Europe) and the numbers are low.
It has been 5 months in a row the numbers are decreasing (November was positive thanks to the free week-end).
The game is dying. All my friends have stopped to play it this year. I mean, they play a few hours per month, less than 10 hours.
The next update will bring more broken changes, it will be a mess. And as they have changed animations, i'm sure it will come with many performances problems and plenty of bugs.

So in the last stream the devs showed us an idea for a perk rework in the future and mentioned that they would be inclines to do this more if we would keep discussions civil.
Not 2 days later and I have already seen several video's on certain channels where they keep bashing the devs and calling this "cringe" and "condecending"
You know the channels I'm talking about. The ones who post more video's bashing the devs then actual gameplay video's. The ones who are just waiting like hungry papparazi to catch the devs saying anything wrong
And while they aren't perfect devs and mess up from time to time can we please acknowledge that we aren't the best community either and that their lack of previous communication is partially our fault too.
They are reaching out a hand to us. So can we do an effort to grab that hand and not snap at it like a frustrated dog
Sorry if this sounded mean but having seen some of the reaction video's really frustrated me
Too late.
It is too late to ask civil discussion to fix the game. The core players, the ones who are here since 2016/2017 have asked for this for years, YEARS. Most of them have left now (just check the skill level of red rank players nowadays, they are terrible... so unexperienced).
There have been thousand of complains thread on many forums, developpers didn't really care about what we were complaining about. Now that they smell the game has never been in such a terrible state, playerbase wise, they come asking for help and "civil discussion".
It's over, DbD is dying and will continue to do so; there is no way back. The game is unplayable, clearly, it's 100% frustration, even if you win lol... impossible to explain. Last 3 weeks, i have only played 2 hours and i didn't miss it. During those 2 hours as a survivor, i went out almost every games but still, i was frustrated cause this game is boring; it became a generator simulator for the most part when you play as a survivor and frustration accumulator when you play as a killer.
Oh and, we don't want to have a civil discussion with ppl who are not good at the game. I mean i have watched the last devs stream where they play KYF... They are really, really, really bad at the game... Seeing them not knowing what to do in banal situations is worrying... for the game's health. But this explain a lot on the bad gameplay decisions that have been taken.
BHVR, hire some high skilled twitcher to fix the balance of the game with the dev team. That's the only way to save DbD at this point...
-
We are all quitting. Most of 1000h+ players are quitting. We have enough of it.
October/November peak : 75k
December/January peak : 53k
Last week peak : 43k
This week peak : 37k
The game has lost half its playerbase in 3 months...
The state of the game is terrible, it is dying. Just wait for the next update with all the terrible changes it will bring, it will go down to 25/30k peak.
Developpers have only made bad choices for this game, loosing time creating new killers/perks/skins instead of fixing the overall balance of the game (reworking all maps layout, reworking the perk system, reworking some existing killers, implementing a good matchmaking).
It has been years that all those problems are present, never been addressed, never fixed, i guess it's too much for us now.
We are tired of hearing the staff telling us : "we know it's a problem, we have heard you, we will fix it but no ETA".
About cheating, it is way more present than what some ppl think. It's not because you don't see a blatant cheater that he is not cheating.
A Wallhack or something that slightly boost your speed and you can't be sure if the guys is a cheater or not.
I have met many killers that are way too fast against who you can't even loop once... it's impossible. I have also seen Twitch streamers (killer) using speedhack, catching me way too fast in a loop. I then launched a private game, went to the exact same loop against the same killer and recorded the looping. There was no way he could have caught me so fast and still, he was a streamer with 50+ viewers, cheating in every game :).
To my mind there are around 1 to 3% of cheaters as in every other game, it's just that it's harder to spot in DbD.

Dead Hard has nothing to do with Hit Validation - there's more issues with DH than just that and this will be addressed at a later date.
It's not like it has been 1 year with the dead hard bug right ?
And about hit validation, 2 things :
- why aren't the high pingers (>60ms) kicked from the lobby ?
- why does the killer still have the priority for the hits ?
Dedicated server = better ping and consistency for everyone = hits 100% server sided as in every other games, so why is it not the case with DbD ?

Oh, got it. But this could not be implemented cause people are petty. They will block people who simply outplayed them, and good players will be punished on the same level as toxic ones.
Yes it is sad that players became like this. i'm quite old and when i was playing competitive 15/20 years ago (hell i'm old), players loved to play against really good players.
I was top EU on one game, top 3 in some official tournaments etc... and when i was coming on a server in FFA, everyone was like "hey, it's him" and everyone was trying to outplay me and tried to level up as much as they could without any complaint or flame...
Players that were banned were cheaters and trolls, that's all :<
Well, old times i guess.

@Emeal said:
Well survivors need to crouch, so you cant remove that.
So it needs to be a time restrictions on it so survivors cant tap it.
Cannot be time restricted too as sometimes you uncrouch and almost instantly need to crouch again.
T-bagging to taunt the killer is a good thing for the killer as the survivor is loosing time, maybe 1 to 2 seconds that could be used to increase the distance between the killer and the survivor...

Survivors would only play against wraith, clown and trapper if that was the case
Players can change the killer they play. What the OP is saying is "avoid this player" to not play against this player. It would be a good thing, all morons would not find any games after some days of playing as everyone would avoid them (camper/tunneler).
It would be a purification of the toxicity by the community.

It is already well known that Devs are in survivors’ favor but this coming update proves it once again.
OK, We got it. It’s fine. We get it.
You guys care about survivors more because they are the ones who dominate DBD population. From business perspective, I can relate to that.
However, there are going to be less killers if you guys keep shredding them apart.
Give killers more BPs at least to make people wanna play them despite all the pain they have to go through from chasing survivors. (especially when survivors are 4 man’ed team)
I mean, who would play killers if they keep getting nerfed and there is hardly compensation for it.
Both survivors and killers would agree that playing killers is more exhausting physically and mentally. Why no better reward for playing them? I don’t understand.
With all the nerfs survivor mains have faced the last 3 years, there are still players coming to say they are survivor's sided ?
You are a new player, you haven't play this game in 2017/2018, no way, you wouldn't say this if it was the case...

Meh. I'm not going to try to explain this to you. Why? You will refuse to accept any answer other than your own. :) Facts are things for other people. Another reason is that I don't care. I'm going to 4K you regardless. :) I don't truly believe there is a working MMR system that is going to use any metric we are discussing. I think it will, once they divest it from Rank, be entirely random, i.e. 1st one in is 1st one out. With no information, we can't check their math. It is win/win for the company.
In short, you will be just be playing with whatever Killer came up next in the rotation. You might get Otz followed by a potato.
This last message discredit all you have said before, well, good luck next time lol.

It isn't flawed in the least. This game tends to snowball, and surely you have heard of the BELL CURVE? Statistics are not based on a singular match. They are based on a huge sample of matches. The Bell Curve, if balance is where the DEV want it, will end up with an average of (2) escapes per match. I can't believe I'm having to explain Statistics 101.
To achieve good matchmaking you need to be measuring the actual skills of the combatants, and there is a MONUMENTAL difference between 4K with 0-1 Generators left and a 4K with 4-5 Generators left. One is a damn close match that snowballed at the end. The other was a curb stomping. Surely you can see that?
So many of you miss the forest for the trees. An individual match is a TREE. All of the matches in a given interval are the forest. Matchmaking is done at the TREE level. Statistics are done at the FOREST level. Are you understanding what I'm explaining?
And there is a big difference between a 4 escapes and a 2K/2E and a 4k/1gen left.
And no a 4k with 1 gen left is not a close match that snowballed at the end as you didn't have the 4k when 1 gen was left. In most of the case you will get the 2 first kills when 2 to 3 gens are left, then the 2 last kills when there is 1 gen left --> This is not a close match, it's a game where the killer has been dominating from the start, in chase, kills and map control.
If the killer has the 1st kill when there is 3-2 gens left with some hooks on other survivors and then get the 2nd kill when there is 0-1 gen left, this is a close match. He can even get the 3rd kill during the end game phase.
But the game is not linear.
There are 3 phases in the game :
- 5 gens left, 8 gens on map --> map control is hard, killer has to apply pressure but survivors have the advantage
- 2/3 gens left --> if the pressure was good enough during the first phase, the map control is easier as the area to cover must be smaller
- 1 gen left --> 3 gens situation, killer has the advantage if he had a good strategy in phase 1 & 2
So most of the kills must be done during phase 3 & 2. Phase 1 is a "preparation" phase (hooking surv).
So around 1 gen left, 2 to 3 survivors must be alive.
During the ending phase 1 more can be killed and it's a balanced game.
I don't think i need a statistics course, i surely did more maths than you when i was in high school. Statistics are not made with 1 single match, exactly and end of 2020 statistics have shown a 70% kill rate in red rank, meaning that the average kills were almost 3 while it should be around 2 (50%). We don't know the standard deviation but from what i have seen as a soloQ survivor, i don't think it's too big.
The good metrics to evaluate balance is already in the game, to calculate the points you have done in a game, there are many metrics used. Divide the points earned by the lenght of the game, you then get a score/min.
Higher score/min = higher skill.

I agree with this concept of balance. The whole 2K/2E is an unreliable idea for data as once again, there are many factors that aren't accounted for when it comes to balance.
Then apply this concept to the killer and not the survivors. Evaluate the balance of a game with the number of hooked survivors.
Thanks :).

Ummm, no. Your logic is flawed to the point that I can't even explain to you why it is flawed. The person you responded to is quite correct in pointing out that a 4K with 0-1 Gens left is a HUGE difference from a 4K with 4-5 Gens left. The fact you won't concede that point is troubling.
The way you are thinking is flawed.
Killer main objective is to kill. So a close match is 50% kills.
Survivors's main objective is to escape. A close match is 50% escapes.
Period.
Using your logic (but you will tell me i'm wrong again), why do you evaluate the survivor's performance with gens done and the killer's performance with kills ? Evaluate the killer's performance with numbers of hooks he has made, same logic you have for the survivors.
And then here is your logic :
- 4 escapes with 8 hooks is a close game
-
@JasonS said:
The actually important metric is, IMO, the number of generators completed and how long it took for them to be completed.
- the difference between a 4K at 5 gens, and a 4K with all generators completed is night and day in terms of how balanced the matchmaking was and how you feel about the match afterwards
- A 4 escape in 4 minutes with 1 hook is a completely different game than a 4 man escape that took 10 minutes and all the survivors are on death-hook.
- If the killer gets a 4K but there was only 1 generator left, its actually a very close match.
I'm sure the developers are also looking at these statistics but I think all the forum posters quoting kill rates and deciding if the game is balanced or not based on that are doing themselves a disservice.
- If the killer gets a 4K but there was only 1 generator left, its actually a very close match.
Lol no it isn't. A 2K/2E is a close match.
A killer getting 4K is an easy win even if there were 1 gen left. Killer is not supposed to kill the 4 survivors.
4 Survivors escaping is an easy win also.
-
Agree for increasing the base number of traps he starts with.
That's all.
Use the add on to make the traps injuring the survivors when they disables them, place them on half the map next to the 3 gens you want to defend at the end).
3K, ez.

You’ve won ok!!
You don’t get to complain about how “boring” it is if the killer does this if you’ve shown complete disregard for how frustrating each and every chase you have made for the killer, or “boring” the match is for the killer.
If it’s that “boring” to you, then all the more reason to just hurry up and get out so EVERYONE can get into a fresh game sooner. One that is hopefully less “boring” to you trolls!
Stop trying to force the killer into being your point farming play toy, whilst still being complete #########.
Stop trying to see if you can mentally break another player by all your vault slamming, locker spamming, and holding that player hostage in a game that YOU can end by just doing your objective and getting the hell out.
Stop trying to force a DC just because the killer is done with with being your play toy.
I’m tired of this trolling culture across so many survivors. If you’ve won, you’ve won. Stop prolonging the torture and purposefully stopping another player from getting into a new game.
echap -> leave the game
If you do this once in a while, your ban will be around 4 minutes.

Do you call "sitting next to a generator pressing m1 for 70% of the game" a good gameplay feature ? do you even call it gameplay ?
ruin + undying = sitting next to a gen pressing m1 90% of the game
Here is your answer. This game went from being a hide & seek/chase game (2018) to a generator simulator (2019/2020).

Hey all,
I wanted to bring this up as its an issue that has bugged me for a while now. BHVR announced in March of 2019 that they planned to have 60 FPS on minimum spec PC's, the PS4 and Xbox One. While I understand that delays happen and that 2020 was a difficult time for everyone, it feels like nothing has changed.
The game certainly looks prettier on certain maps, but the performance has not improved at all. Certain Killers are still borderline unplayable due to freezing, low FPS and massive stuttering issues.
For example, even if I make the correct read on someone using Dead Hard, I am unable to capitalize on their mistake since my game froze the moment they used their perk.
For the Survivor side, anytime someone gets hit, the game tends to freeze, especially if the Killer uses Sloppy Butcher. This causes Survivors to lose huge amounts of distance and allows the Killer an easier down.
The original quote is found below:
"When we first released Dead by Daylight back in 2016, we targeted 30 FPS on our minimum spec. Up until recently, we optimized the game in bursts; for the console launch and before releasing a new Killer. We are now ready to set a new performance target: Dead by daylight will run at 60 FPS on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and minimum spec PCs."
tl;dr Is BHVR still planning on fulfilling their promise to Xbox One and PS4 users or have these plans been scrapped in favor of prioritizing the Series X and PS5?
Promises
Developpers are humans sure, but still they have made many promises, some older than 2 years and still, haven't seen them :D
Even optimization on PC was prosmised, the game is terribly optimised and can't run above 100 fps constantly on 2.5k€ PC :), in 1080p.
still, they have made some good work, sometimes, but it's clearly not enough, especially since the game revenue are huge now.
-
- delays before any action as a survivor
- no real teamplay features for survivors
- hit registering is terrible
- sitting next to a gen pressing M1 is pretty outdated too
- that "latency" feeling everytime you do something, hitting, using a pallet, taking a window
- the hook mechanic favoring camping and tunneling
- RNG on maps bringing unbalance everytime
- about unsmooth gameplay for killers : trapper (having to search for traps on the map, setting traps is too long); wraith (well, he needs a big rework); huntress hatchet throwing is not smooth at all; Hag has a no skill gameplay that has nothing to do in a multiplayer game
- perks system is weak : too much diversity, too many combinations, too many useless perks - we just need 20 usefull perks that allow quality build diversity
-
Ye, developpers could have some imagination and rework the game, keeping the map and the base concept : doing gens to escape with a 1v4 setup.
But then totally rework the survivors :
- runner : can equip speed and survivability perks, has 2 health state, can't heal himself, only flashlight item available
- healer : heal fast, auto-heal, 2 health state, no item, can do gens, iron will
- support : jake of all trade, 4 health state, have borrow time, can equip items, instant P2, cannot do gens, can do side "quest"
- gen rusher : do gens faster, 2 health state, no item
It's just some idea, they could be way more different with some not able to use windows or only in midspeed vault...
-
This game has taken a road that can't be viable for asymetrical gaming. I still play it because i have friends to play with but if it was not the case i would stop right away.
Most killers are ok BUT perks are dumb and change too much the way to play the game.
All survivors are clone and can equip all perks, removing all the goal of a team with complementary build (exemple a healer, a runner, a saver and a gen rusher).
Evolve was a game with way better teamplay mechanic. Unfortunately the game didn't encounter the success it deserved but it was miles ahead DbD. But the press stomp (unjustified) killed it.
To summurize it :
You had a monster that had to kill 4 hunters.
In a team, each hunter was from a different class : a trapper, a dmg dealer, a healer and a support.
Trapper had to catch the monster and to slow it down.
Dmg dealer had to deal dmg
Healer had to heal and had a secondary power (like creating weak points on the monster)
Support had to support the team (either cloak them, either shield them)
And the team needed to create a synergie to survive and kill the monster. No one could survive without the support's and healer's job, no one could dmg the monster without it being trapped and being stomped by the dmg dealer etc... One mistake and the monster won the game. With no mistake on both side it was a 50/50 chance of winning. The teamplay was beyond everything you know in the multiplayer game history. You can check some gameplay on youtube.
There were perks also, perks that gave small bonuses but nothing game changing. Nothing as strong as NOED or Ruin/Undying or DS/Unbreakable.
When we compare DbD, we clearly see that the teamplay features are weak, there is nothing but this : being two on a gen, unhooking, bodyblocking, being two to heal. Other things like flashlight/pallet saves are so rare that i don't call this teamplay.
So yes, DbD is not a team game, it's a 1 v 4xindividuals game. All 4 survivors can play for him/her self 99% of the time. Why ? Mostly because most perks are teachable, same for killers, all perks are teachable, most killers have the same build... And perks are globally way too strong.
So playing killer is boring in many ways : same perks, same survivor builds again and again, same strategy, ez down etc...
Playing survivor is boring : same braindead matchmaking, same builds again and again, doing gens again and again, barely any teamplay mechanic...
Ask around you why some ppl continue to play the game, they will all tell you it's a bad game now but they continue to play it cause they can gather with friends. That's all. Around me, no one is really interested in playing DbD but there is this game and FPS but we don't like FPS...

Many survivors say they love playing against Myers trapper wraith pig clown because they are bad killers but if they face a nurse spirit Freddy hag they are boring unfun unfair
Hag is boring cause it requires 0 skill to play it -> spamming TP, oncve you TP no need to aim, just press M1.
Freddy is boring cause he has way too much map control --> snares, TP.
Doctor is boring cause he has too many powers --> find you all the time, can deny pallets, when crazy you can't use your items and you yell, fake pallets, fake doctor showing where you are, skill checks harder...
Spirit is boring only when it uses Stridor, if not it's pretty good.
Those killers have 0 counterplay, if the player is competent, it's 4k - 100% of the time. Anyway the most boring killer to play against is deathslinger, clearly the worst of all.

Along with what you've said, I think another major issue are these "fog whisperers". I don't know how much these streamers paid to get included but it's a terrible set up. I think they became a thing sometime in 2018. Since then the buffs, nerfs, reworks, abandoning holiday themed events, have mostly occurred since then. I don't know if Monto is one of them, but he's definitely part of the community problem. He has a huge following but is just as toxic of a player as Ochido was.
Hybridpanda, bless him he's had a really tough year and I'm glad to see him begin recovering, was instrumental in getting the original Mettle of Man nerfed. He certainly wasn't alone but if you go back and watch his videos from April-June 2019 he makes constant complaints about it while also showcasing it wasn't as strong as some thought it was.
The devs aren't listening to the 500, 1,000, 2,000 or 5,000 hour regular players. They seem to be listening to their hand picked streamers and casual players.
Yes some streamers are really toxic as survivor or killer. It's a bad exemple for the community, especially when they have 500+ viewers...
What a shame that BHVR is paying those guys that bring more and more toxicity to the game.

what are you even talking about
Winning is not a 4K. 2K is a draw, more than this is a win. Period.
So everything else about the hatch is dumb.
-
@Reiik said:
In a scenario where you are the killer in a pvp "competitive" game, of course you want to win, and for most people to win is to kill all 4 survivors, and if you can kill all 4, why won't you?
So, what I want to say with this is that I understand why the devs designed the game so when there's one survivor left the hatch opens, and the reason is so at least one survivor won't be frustrated after a defeat, so they give them a chance to win even if they didn't do all neccessary objectives.
The problem with this is that: It doesn't actually stop the killer from killing all four of them if they REALLY, REALLY, want to, and then again, why won't the killer want to win? so it's reasonable to say that if the killer REALLY wants to win, they WILL slug for the win, after all, they want to win and it's not their fault that in order to do so, they are forced to slug the third survivor for MINUTES and MINUTES, sometimes even 5+ minutes of pure boring hide and seek, making the game EXTREMELY boring for everyone involved.
Now, is it the killers fault for slugging? No, it isn't, all they want is to win, so this is the devs fault because when they designed it, they probably didn't think that killers would try to "counter" the hatch by slugging and extending the match for so long and making it so boring. This is a matter of game design flaw and it should be addressed, it actually surprises me that it wasn't already. But then, there are many design flaw in this game that they still didn't fix after many years so I don't really expect them to actually fix something.
Ok then when you play survivor, of course you want to win and a win is 4 escapes.
So survivors are asking for 50/50% chance of winning in a "competitive" game, means we ask that half the games are 4 escapes.
-
1 game to try to demonstrate that survivors are OP.
Survivors can also bring 1 game where the killer kills all 4 in less than 5 minutes, it wouldn't prove anything.
You know guys, there are stats, stats made out of hundreds of thousands games, showing that in red rank, there is a 70% kill rate for killers.
It has been like this for 2 years now, all high skilled killer mains that actually know how to be good at the game complain about how ez it is to get 3K permanently.
Period.

Do you troll me ? 🤣
FEBRUARY 2020 is 2 years old for you ? Ok...
I guess you have some problems to understand english.

- It has been previously posted on the forum by a mod in Feb 2020
Omg... i will stay polite but jeez...

2 pages of players saying it's broken. Tons of tweets stating the same feedback, many videos to show proofs and you know what ? It is still here :).
Yes, only survivors are impacted by the hit validation. As a killer there is clearly no difference.

I mean the killer gameplay is pretty boring 9 out of 10 Times.
Its either crush the survivor team easily. Wich is boring because there is no challenge

Yes, it is the global state of the game, for both sides i guess. But BHVR will never adress the issue and the game will die.
As a survivor, seeing a 4k when the game was tense, fun with many mindgames etc, i have no problem with it.
As a killer, seeing 4 escapes when the game was tense, fun with many mindgames etc, i have no problem with it.
But at the moment, even when i pipe and get a win, i'm still frustrated as nothing is fun anymore, there is always something broken/unfair coming in the way. It's impossible to explain, but it's the way it is. You can win or loose, you will still be frustrated.

I feel like the issue isn't the kill rate but that it was so annoying to get the kill that the chase wasn't really fun like yes they may of got the kill but didn't feel worth it
Nah the problem is that it's so easy to down a survivor now (and then to kill him) that's there is no challenge.
What is the point to play an easy game without any challenge ? We play multiplayers games for the challenge to be confronted against other players, with a brain and the capacity to outsmart us.
Imagine playing Counter Strike against bots, all day long ?
It's how DbD feels atm as survivors are often terrible at the game and have no more options to survive.

And where exactly are the 15% SWF stats from? I can´t see them on those charts...
You talk of SWF being a little more than 1 of 10 matches. So, where do those stats come from?
Read the complete thread maybe ? I'm not your mom. Stats have been posted on page 1.
Posted by a mod in Feb 2020.
As i have said, 6000 posts here, all day long on this forum and you know so little about it... sad

Where are you taking those numbers from? From a 2 years old chart?
Like... really?
October 2020 - 2 years old ?
You have almost 6000 posts on this forum, you are camping here everyday and you don't know the last official stats ?
And here are November 2019 stats
Yup, nothing has changed but hey, as i said, some ppl here are clouding the issue.
This forum is the Matrix, clearly.

Well your numbers aren't too far off. The alst time we had stats for this released about 50% of games have an SWF of some sort in it. But that doesnt mean 50% of players were SWF. Roughly 50% of players were solo, and the smaller percentage of people were in an SWf of some sort. And of course, the 4-man SWF Commando Squads are only around 4% (if even that, not all of thse 4-mans are commando squads).
And we have developpers trying to balance the game for killer vs SWF
All this DbD thing is a big joke, no one is playing SWF, SWF + trioQ is representing 15% of the games, little more than 1 game out of ten. And we are hearing killers crying EVERYDAY about how their experience is terrible because of SWF... meanwhile we know kill rate is around 70% for killers.
This community, especially killer mains (most of them), is completely dishonest concerning the state of the game. More we get official stats, more we clearly see that Killers are highly favored.
So 2 possibilities :
- either there are mostly terribly noobie killer mains coming here to cry
- either the killer community is deliberately lying to continue to have easy games
I really don't understand how we can still have ppl here posting threads about how the killers are at a disadvantage.
When there were infinite loops, dozens of safe pallets and that, as survivors, we had 3+ escapes every games in red rank, i have never complained about how hard and unfair it was to play survivor... i was piping up every time, doing more than enough points everytime...

on survivor i can run through them with my friends so quick
and on killer i can bring Oppression, Corrupt Intervention, Ruin. They still will fly. for most all you gotta do is hide until they are down then you can start exposing yourself. There's so much to exploit the killer rn and survivors don't wanna admit that its ez pz mode. At Rank 1 i can't enjoy killer at all because you're always in a panic
Oh man, 70% kill rate at red rank and still complaining about "impossible to win a game as a killer".
Well let me tell you, tons of killers succeed to do 3k in almost every game they play without even trying, so i advise you to level up.
We don't have the new kill rate stats with the new ruin + undying combo. I guess it's around 75% now, maybe more... I can't understand how some ppl can still complain when all the maths prove the contrary of what they think...
When i play killer, i'm bored as f*ck... downing red rank survivors in 20 seconds most of the time, getting 3k when there are 2 to 3 gens left most of the time... without camping/tunneling.
Sometimes i get gen rushed it's true, 1 game out of 20, against a SWF. So rare that i don't have any frustration about it, just telling myself that this game has a real problem when it comes to play against SWF. That's all.
Advice : check on youtube some tutorials to learn how to play killer
- how to apply pressure and ending up with a 3 gens situation
- how to break loops

Yes, survivors should awlays have an option to survive, negating their options with perks is a bad game design.
A good game design should force the players to win mindgames in order to win the game.
Being caught by a killer because he has a perk that lock the next pallet or because he can see you all the time with an aura perk is bullshit. It doesn't involve skill or brain. We can compare it as having an aimbot in a FPS game.
I would have the exact same statement if the survivors had such perks, exemples :
- when the killer hits you, all downed/destroyed pallets in a 16 meters range are respawned
- one time per game, when the killer take you on his shoulders, every hooks in a 32m range are disabled
- better : after fast vaulting, a killer can't use his abilities for 20 seconds
Yup, it would look like this and killers would say : we can't catch survivors because they have perks negating our powers and they would be right.
Main problem is that it's a 1v4 game meaning 1 killer vs 4 individual survivors. The survivors have no teamplay option (just unhooking and doing gens) but they all have the same perks, all have the same gameplay features etc... In fact, there is no teamplay between them, i mean no complex teamplay between them.
The game should be 1 killer vs 1 team of 4 players with the bloodpoints awarded to the team and divided by 4. It means that each survivor, even face camped, will get the points if the rest of the team is working good during this time, he will also be able to pipe up depending of the team results.
Survivors would then all play together, as a team, to do their best to has as many escapes as possible for the global team points.
Also, developpers could add real teamplay mechanics as Evolve did... Multiplicating perks is a dumb choice, we don't need so many perks, we need a small pool of perks that work well together and that allow to have complementary builds (as survivor) and different killer builds (as effective but changing the playstyle).
Atm, it's selfish survivors working for their own points and their own escape vs the exact same killer build over and over again.
This game is broken, i don't know who are the ppl working on those in-game elements and who decided to bring this game where it is now but they made many bad choices.
As it is, the game is more frustrating than enjoyable, it's a pain in the ass to play it in soloQ/duoQ. In SWF it's fun for the survivors but really frustrating for the killer.
Well i don't think DBD will survive much longer if developpers don't do a health season where they tweak the game to bring a new system to it.
Loosing players during December while everyone had 2 weeks holidays ? yup, weird... Having 3 months with a 75k peak and then going all down to 50k peak ? Loosing 25k players during the peak, globally how many thousands of players have left then ?
I really don't understand why BHVR doesn't communicate more about the state of the game and why they don't give us a roadmap to fix the problems we are all complaining about for years.
I have seen their twitter, all the time advertising for new skins...

there are players that enjoy facecamping and you want to ruin their game because you dont like it?
xD
Face camping is ruining the game for the survivor.
Face camping is not a gameplay mechanic, it's nothing, staying next to a hooked survivor and waiting, how waiting can be an interesting gameplay for anyone ?
Face camping doesn't bring anything good for the killer if the 3 others are gen rushing so it ruins the game for the killer and the survivor.
In fact, when you do the list of things facecamping adn tunneling bring to the game, you clearly see that this can't be a feature in this game.
- Either other 3 survivors gen rush, they go out, killer lost the game, the camped/tunneled survivor game is ruined
- Either other 3 survivors try to save the game, they don't do gens then and everyone ends up dead, killer won the game but the game is ruined for all survivors
- Either the guy on hook suicide/DC, the game is ruined for the other 3 survivors
In all 3 points, one or more players have a terrible experience in a video game that has a purpose to be fun :). It doesn't work, clearly and it has to be removed.
Another way to fix it easily : once a survivor is hooked, the hook disappear in the ground and reappear somewhere random on the map, somewhere the killer can't see. If there is one gens left and no survivor killed, the hook stay in place.

It confuses me when the decision is made to ruin someone else's fun because someone ruined your fun. Running to the killer or suiciding doesn't help your team. When I am face camped, I try to stay on the hook as long as possible to give me teammates the most time possible. I always run Kindred as well, so they can see the killer standing right there and I hope they are working on gens and not trying to save me.
I also warn the people in the lobby if I've encountered campers that day (such as today, a clown and a doctor.)
As a killer, I don't camp or tunnel. I play more by survivor rules. Even if I am trying to stop an unhook attempt, I try not to hit the hooked player and I don't chase after them once they are free. If I run into 2 survivors at a gen, I tend to chase the one that hasn't been hooked, or was hooked longer ago.
I strive to maximize the fun for all players, regardless if I am playing as a survivor or killer.
I don't want to ruin their fun but i don't care about it anymore, i won't wait on my hook for games and games and games, i don't play to wait on hook...

- Survivor wait times are longer because there are not enough killers, 3 reasons for this
- it's really furstrating to play as a killer when you are bad/new at it
- players want to play with friends
- good killers stop to play as a killer as it is too easy
- Kindred is situational, you don't see the killer when he is not near a hooked survivor
- Killer skill learn curve is lower than suvivor's, killer's game are intense sure because it's 1v4 but once you have learnt how to break all kinds of loops, it's easier but anyway, game has to be fun for both sides
- Survivor's DCing is because they find the game unfair and are frustrated about it, it's not about being caught, being caught is an aspect of the game, same as killer DCing which is rarer (on 200 games, maybe 10 have DCed on my side)
- Balance should be 50/50 between surviving and dying for survivors
I know killer is frustrating to play when you still have things to learn and that it's terrible to play killer against SWF... When i played killer, the only games i struggled to get 2k were against SWF. Every other games were ez 3k leaving the hatch to the last survivor and this without camping & tunneling. Games from rank 20 to rank 4 in a row, with around 50h as a killer (but knowing the game's mechanics with my survivor skill).

You had zero stats from your games. Who’s the troll.
Some good survivors here made detailed red rank stats about their soloQ experience. Search for it, it's pretty much the same than what i explain in my post.
Many DC, many suicide, around 25% escape rate. Search for it, it's on this forum.
I haven't called my thread "stats from 1 month SoloQing"; it's called "soloQ feedback". Well another troll coming here without any clue of what he is talking about.

yikes, that was a ton of typing with no stats to go with your title. Just sounds like you want a looping simulator bot installed so that all the things you dislike will go away and the killer will be “fair”.
There was nothing actually “said” in all that typing. Could have simply done what so many others do in far less words: “nerf killers that do anything other than m1”. See how much shorter that was?
There are stats and valid points about soloq experience. It's not about nerfing killer, it's a thread about all the annoying and unfair things in the game.
Trying to balance a game by adding ridiculous action delays, increasing hitboxes to make them as big as a fridge, and by creating perks that deny survivor's gameplay mechanics are not proper ways to balance a game. You disagree with this ? The go in a game design course and you will see by yourself.
But i knew some trolls would come here. I'm waiting for your "stats are iirevelant" and then i'm then waiting that you mathematically demonstrate how stats can be irrevelant which will be a hard job as stats are as sure as the planet is not flat.

I get you, Face camping is actually bad for the killer but still unfun for the one being camped, I invited a friend to play the game, he played the game for a few days, when I asked him if he liked it his answer was ''I spent around 60% of my time playing doing nothing...just watching the killer face camp me from the hook, how is doing nothing supposed to be fun?'' it's not like the mechanic is unbalanced because it's basically a lose/lose scenario for the killer if the survivors know what they are doing but it is extremely unfun especially for new players, sometimes even a deterrent for them to keep playing the game but I don't think devs will do anything about it at this point.
For the guy being camped, it's terribly boring and not fun.
There are tons of possible ways of fixing it :
- increase the time it takes to go P2 and P3 when the killer is near the hook
- increase the speed of doing generators when the killer is in the near
- makes borrow time a free power an not a perk
- decreasing the killer's points when he is near the hook or hooking a survivor twice in a row
etc...
Also those options could be conditioned "if there is more than 1 gen left to be done", "if you tunnel and hook the same survivor twice in a row".
Anyway, i don't care now, killer is camping and tunneling someone ? If it's me i suicide immediately, and i go next time; if it's anotehr player i go to the killer to be hooked and i suicide.
Does it ruin the game for other survivors ? yes, i don't care, killer is ruining my game so why should i care ? I'm suiciding almost 50% of my games now in red rank.
Sad to be forced to play like this but well... BHVR tolerate that killers are able to ruin someone's game, so...

"At high ranks you run into a lot of face camping"
What? It's happened to me twice in a year and I play 5-10 games per day. It happens in low ranks not red ranks it's super rare.
Dunno the region you play but i guess it's in North America.
In EU, camping & tunneling or leaving the hook, going 15 meters away to instantly come back is happening in 80% of the game, even more...

Great write up and analysis! 3+ year solo survivor here as well and there's no lies or misinformation to be told here. To piggyback on a couple of things: red rank survivors immediately dropping pallets is almost shocking. Especially since it's not always someone with 50 hours or less in game.
Killers really think the "moonwalking" works and they end up wasting so much time trying to out mind game in a chase instead of taking the path of least resistance. I've witnessed too many killers outsmart themselves.
The add ons and perks chart almost hurts my soul. After a match a wraith player in the post chat said people don't realize how strong wraith can be. It's worth mentioning that he had 3 aura reading perks and aura reading add ons. Including being able to see survivors within 16 meters while being cloaked. Between that, bbq, i'm all ears and tinkerer the work was done for them. If I knew where the killer was every second of a match I'd be pretty unstoppable too.
yes, i wanted to talk about those reading aura perks, especially the one when the killer can sees you for 6 seconds after a fast action but i thought i would get a flame wall :D.
But yes, where is the mind game in jungle gym when a killer can see you ?
For exemple, when i loop in a jungle gym near a hooked survivor with kindred... i see the killer 100% of the time, the loop fight could last 5 minutes with only one pallet. Aura reading perks are way too strong when it's everywhere.
About red rank dropping pallets instantly, even when not injured is a good point, this occurs 90% of the time when soloQing xD.

I know you are doing your job to ask a feedback about this feature here but honestly, during the 10 first days after the definitive release of HVS, there have been tons and tons of players complaining about it on twitter (and on this forum aswell) with video evidence etc...
When the feature didn't work well for 1 killer (Huntress or Oni), Developpers removed it to fix it, but now that it affects 100% of the survivors, they won't remove it anymore, weird choice, but well, we won't argue about it right ?
So my feedback is that the feature does absolutely nothing, it is badly calibrated. Hit validation still looks like it is killer sided. High pingers (Russian especially on EU server) still gives bullshit hits from 3 meters away, through pallets and at windows.
Same for Huntress hatchets...
Some players have made videos on reddit where they have used a proxy to get 250ms ping, of course they have played killer and the hits were registering as seen on their side, i'm wondering how that looked on the survivors screen, surely they got hit from 5 meters away.
The feature is terrible, calibrate it to be 100% server hit validation WITHOUT lag compensation.
It's not our problem if some players have 150 ms ping, it's their problem, they have to found a way to fix it on their side (better Inet provider, upgrade their equipment etc...).

i found if i buy rtx2060 super, i can play on 1440p, ULTRA, stable 60fps.
thank you. i have ryzen 1600x so i would buy more powerfully gpu than gtx1070ti.

Honestly, i would go for a RTX 3060Ti Founder edition and would get a ryzen 5800x.
I don't know what is your budget but a ryzen 1600x is not powerfull enough for gaming in 2020 and will be clearly outdated in 2021.
For the GPU, 3060 TI FE is around 420$, 2060 Super around 370$... For 50$ more, you get a +50% performance boost.
-
Slugging : @Onyx_Blue's proposition is great. Some tweaks might be needed but it's a great idea.
Camping : Either generators repair speed is 200%, either the progression bar to P2 is stucked if no survivor is around.
To slow down the game : generators can't work without fuel. You need to find a gas can on the map to fuel the gen before being able to repair it. Then something appears on the generator (a visual hint) to let the other survivors know that the gen has been fueled and can be repaired. This woul drastically slow down the game, especially if there is like 8 gas cans only on the map, somewhat hidden like totems : 5 gas cans at start and then every time you use one, a new one spawn till a maximum of 8 in total.
-
GTX 1070TI you won't be able to keep it at 60 fps constant. Since the graphic update, the game is really demanding in Ultra.
I have a RTX 2060 + R5 2600x and in ultra i have many dips under 60 fps.
The game is a mess concerning its optimization, CPU, RAM and GPU all have low usage (around or below 50%) but still the computer can't push the framerates...

Yup, 6 to 8 meters away it's too far and doesn't work...

3 Things :
- we never get ETA for any of those new features/fixes... awesome
- some killers that have been reworked will get a new rework because the current one doesn't fit the balance goal (what a shame, doing and undoing things... losing time)
- some prgoressist lobbies are really strong to impose the way they see life, to the point they change the whole biological/science perception of things and create new "norms". Don't forget guys that reality is (and will always be) stronger than ideology. We clearly see it today when we oppose the capitalism ideology and the way the global warming is affecting the planet. It gives us an idea of what is next :)
Well; thanks for the recap.
