The thing is, survivors already have lore in the game that states they are heterosexual. You either stay ambiguous or you’re inclusive. The fact sexuality has already been talked about has opened the door for these discussions.
Most LGBT+ people (myself included) don’t always feel like they are represented which leaves you with the gut feeling that something must be wrong with you, when that isn’t the case, at all.
Let’s be completely real here, if a character is called straight in a video game, tv show or movie, nobody would bat an eyelid, because that’s fed to us as being ‘normal’. But as soon as you DARE refer to that character as being from the LGBT+ community, all of a sudden there’s an agenda involved. You’re trying to be ‘woke’ and you’re ‘pushing’ something onto people.
The fact I’m having to sit here and type this out to you shows how big this problem still is. There’s so much homophobia in the world and the scary thing is, a lot of the people making the bigoted comments don’t even realise they’re doing it. They always respond with the “I don’t care about sexuality” or “I can’t be homophobic as my cousin is gay” type of comments. Excuse me whilst I roll my eyes.

I wouldn't have an issue with them not explicitly stating someone's sexuality (and leaving it up to the players imagination) had they not explicitly went out of their way to identify characters as straight - even when it adds literally nothing to the story or lore. Either don't do it at all or be consistent and inclusive about it.
Psychologically, LGBT+ people are generally drawn to horror franchises. The campiness not withstanding, LGBT+ people identify with various characters in horror franchises. Strong female characters resonate amongst LGBT+ people. Horror franchises also embrace stereotypes of "the jock" and "mean girl" and kill them. A large amount of LGBT+ are bullied by jocks and "popular" girls in school. Seeing these typically mean and rude people killed on screen is like a form of vicarious karma. Even the killers get a lot of support and even sympathy - people can get behind seeing someone take down these "mean people" and can even identify with having to hide your true identity from society. There's been a lot of interesting studies done on the appeal of horror in the LGBT+ community.
I actually find horror movies to be extremely comforting. Which I used to think made me odd, but after reading into it, I’ve discovered that horror movies can bring comfort to people as it allows them to escape their own lives and minds for a moment as you’re too focused on somebody else’s terror. Considering I’ve suffered from depression since I can remember and I’ve never felt like I belonged in this world, it all became crystal clear.
A lot of the LGBT community has either felt the need to / or continue to hide their true selves from the rest of the world. It’s no surprise that a lot of them find themselves drawn to the world of horror.
-
I actually find playing killer to be the easier and less stressful of the two. When I play killer, for the most part, I’m in control of how the match plays out. When I’m playing as survivor, I can’t do everything myself and if my fellow teammates are useless, that bites me in the ass.
When I play survivor, I think my teammates kill me more than the actual killer. The constant blowing up of the generators and then running off whilst you take the blame. Missing a skill check whilst healing you and running off and causing a repeat of the above. Farming each other of the hooks whilst the killer hasn’t even left.
I could honestly go on and on. Survivor is easier on paper. But tell that to my stress levels lol.
-
I’d like for the dying state music to be removed from No Mither, unless you’re on the ground or hook. I actually like that perk, but it’s annoying having the music playing all trial, especially when you’re against stealth killers as it makes listening out for them harder.
-
You just need to go into the match with the mindset that it’s likely you’ll ‘lose’ but that’s not important, as you’re simply trying to learn how the killer works.
I started practising Nurse at Rank 1 and I used the same mindset and it helped a lot. I encountered a lot of the usual teabagging and flashlight clicking survivors, but that didn’t bother me as my sole purpose of the match was to practise how to blink accurately. With time, I got a lot better.
Just relax. The only way to get better at something is to keep practising.
-
Hopefully this isn’t the case, as I know that COD: Cold War includes the upgrade with both the digital and physical edition of the PS4 copy. Maybe it’s different with DBD because the disc was made prior to next gen announcements?

I can confirm the games I lose as Nurse are usually because I'm still warming up or because the team was absolutely immersed (which is her counterplay btw).
Oh I know, when it’s a great Nurse player, I’m extremely immersed. I also run Spine Chill a lot, which counters her hard. So I become the designated totem cleanser and generator repairer lol.

This is basically my daily life as a Nurse, Oni and Slinger main lol. These killers together with Spirit and Huntress have the strongest chase mechanics, and it's funny seeing how survivors change their behaviour when they notice you're good with them.
When it’s a strong Nurse, that’s just an automatic game over. Did that bush just move? It sure did. As the entire team cower inside.

I do like facing Slinger but I have to agree with this.
Slinger IS the perfect chaser, and the most fun you get in this game as killer is ending chases fast. There's something special in showing dominance on that cocky pink hair Nea that tbags after dropping a pallet only to try to hide the rest of the game when she knows you're a good Slinger.
It’s funny you say this, as I had this exact match earlier today...with a Nea. She kept chasing after her friends with a flashlight, but once I did the ‘pretend to pick up’ trick and smacked her, she became such a gen jockey. I’ve definitely noticed I get less toxicity when playing as him, as people get scared. 😂

Same, dropped 3 years of Myers for him
That’s the same for me. I feel really bad for ditching Michael, but whenever I play as him now all I think is “I wish I was playing as Slinger” lol
-
Caleb ruined other killers for me. Once you get a taste of Quinn, you’ll want to throw everybody else in the bin. 🗑
-
With every killer it comes down to personal preference. I’ve seen some people really struggling with The Twins and others absolutely loving them and saying they’re going to become their new main.
For example, if you told me I was going to be facing a really strong 4-man team, I’d want to be using Deathslinger. As he’s the killer I feel completely confident and powerful with. Other people might choose Spirit or Freddy, heck some would even choose Pig and Wraith. Different strokes and all that.
From the looks of things, I think I’m going to really enjoy The Twins and I can see me playing them a lot. But I guess we’ll see in December.
-
I’m not sure if I’ve already posted in this thread, so apologies if I have lol. But, I would absolutely kill for a Supernatural chapter. I don’t even want a killer, just Sam and Dean. I’m pretty sure it would be an easy chapter to obtain as I can’t see why they wouldn’t want the legacy of the show (that ends in 2 weeks) to live on. I’ve also seen quite a lot of people ask for the same thing both on and off this forum. So hopefully this dream does become reality one day.
Sidney Prescott is another survivor that’s high up on the list. Scream and Halloween are my two favourite horror franchises and we’re so close to having both of them fully represented. She’s the missing link.
-
I’ve been playing as her recently on console and it’s actually been super fun. I just go in with the mindset that I don’t care if generators start getting done really fast, as I want to be able to learn how she works without adding extra pressure and I’ve been winning most matches. Who would’ve thought?
I wouldn’t say I’m a ‘good’ Nurse as I miss a lot of hits but then I can also be extremely accurate. So I feel pretty in the middle right now. I’m not going to give up on Sally though.

I am surprised that in lore - both rift and new characters - they have yet to just be like "her girlfriend..." or "his boyfriend..." like they did randomly with David. I feel like at this point when they finally do it's going to be during Pride month.
That’s all that people want. You shouldn’t have to straight up say, well THIS survivor is gay. Be subtle with it. I identify as asexual, but that doesn’t define who I am as a person. And nobody is trying to claim that it does. It’s all about feeling included.
Yeah, this is just a video game. But if a male character can have a girlfriend, why can’t he also have a boyfriend? As soon as you start bringing relationships into stuff, you’ve opened a door. So at that stage, there’s no reason to not have LGBT characters, ya know? Regardless of what other people shout about, representation IS and will ALWAYS be important. Regardless of the format.

As a gay man, I would KILL (no pun intended) to play a sassy gay dude. I'm not kidding. I'd even be up for voicing him. I would compare it to the Fabulous Chiron skin in Smite.
As it is, when I play Freddy, I play gay Freddy already so I'm down for whatever they want to do. I'm old, so seeing representation of any sort is STILL a shock to me. I never thought as a kid, that there'd ever be conversations around LGBT characters in video games at all, so this is major major progress. All of it.
ETA - one thing I will say to the devs - please, before you do a LGBT killer, do an LGBT survivor first. Please don't fall into the gay villain trope. Please.
I think this is the first time I’ve seen you post on here, but I just have to say that I love you. Reading your post made me laugh so much. We need more like you. 👑

They have added multiple chars with mentioned heterosexual relationships. Where were you then? Why didn’t you complain about their inclusion?
Honestly, I wouldn’t bother with them. They showed how ignorant they are in my thread that got closed yesterday. They wouldn’t complain about a characters backstory including that they’re in a heterosexual relationship, because in their eyes, that’s ‘normal’.
But as soon as it’s explicitly mentioned that somebody identifies as part of the LGBT community it’s ‘woke’ and it’s being ‘forced’ on people. It’s absolutely ridiculous. If sexuality doesn’t matter to these people because it’s only ‘horror’ and ‘video games’, then why does it matter to them if somebody wants an LGBT character? Doesn’t add up, does it? Just say you’re a bigot and leave. 🙃

Not really a franchise but a movie called Hush. It's about this deaf woman who has her house robbed and without spoiling anything she survives but barely. It'd make an alright chapter
Hush was a fantastic movie and such a frightening concept. The killer could make a good alternate outfit for Legion.

You can comfortably spin your controller stick and it will wiggle at full speed. No need to jostle it back and forth.
Also would like to not smash A. Although it does give the real feeling of a "struggle", I hate when my internet hiccups and I die when I'm full force smashing it.
I’m not sure. As I’ve tried just turning it around and I’ve definitely noticed the bar goes faster the more intensely I wiggle it. I’ll give it another try as maybe I’m just imagining it and it isn’t actually moving faster. 😂
-
Does anybody have a photo of what that last image is in the current game? I can’t work out what it is. 🤔
These updates look awesome though. Can’t wait until every map has been reworked.

100% agreed. They’ve removed most of the other “wasting everyone’s time” scenarios from the game, this one needs to go too IMO.
It’s also beneficial for both sides as sometimes slugged survivors want to waste the killers time by waiting in a corner to bleed out. There’s no reason for it to be in the game other than a way to try to annoy somebody else.
-
I think it’s going to be a Native American female and I’m here for it.

Yeah, I have no problem with slugging as a gameplay mechanic, I slug a lot too and there are situations where survivors kind of force you bleed them out like you mentioned. I have no issue with stuff like that, I’m not complaining about slugging in general since there are ways around it most of the time and it’s a normal part of gameplay.
But slugging the last person and refusing to pick them up as a form of BM is really pathetic and it shouldn’t be in the game at this point, in my opinion. Especially when disconnect penalties are live.
I think if you’re the last person alive and the hatch is closed, then the entity should just kill you. That way you don’t have to just lie on the floor and wait to bleed out. Similar to how the last survivor can’t struggle on the hook anymore. I don’t see why this is any different.

I just hope we get an alternative-stance killer, like Pig, Wraith and Old Doctor. I like killers that utilise different modes and can switch between them with no restriction, but now we've only got 2 of them (3 if you count Demo, but only by a technicality).
That’s what I’m expecting. I think they are stood up, maybe slightly bent over like Hag, but they have the ability to crawl and move at a really fast speed.
This stance:
I also think the shriek they make in the teaser is significant which is why I’m also expecting a Banshee like ability.

For me if a survivor turns into a tornado while I’m in frenzy I just step back and let them finish a spin, then attack.
Best thing to do is come from the side instead of behind since it’s easier to land a hit
I was coming here to say the same thing.
This is what I do when playing, I always anticipate that the survivor is going to try to make me miss my frenzy hit, so I’ll wait for them to try to dodge and then hit them.

Yeah I also thought we might get another power similar to a existing one.
I think they’re going to be a Blight / Pig / Demogorgon hybrid, but with a slight twist. I guess we’ll see tomorrow. But I’m almost certain they have the ability to crawl.
-
I hope this is implemented sooner than later. I hate having to sit tapping a button, especially during the winter as when my hands are cold, it’s like a form of torture lol.
I’m also against the current wiggle feature, as I feel like all it does it wear down my analog sticks. I’d rather have to tap a button for that.
-
I’ve never understood why people feel the need to brighten up their games this much and stretch their screens.
I was playing with a streamer recently and his screen resolution was an absolute joke. We all looked so zoomed out, it was like he was playing a Nintendo DS game lol.
-
-
I hope we get a map for the new killer, because we don’t have a proper woods map yet. I don’t really count the ones we have, as I want a ‘real’ forest and I have a feeling that’s what we’re gonna get. Something very Blair Witch-esque.
I agree that they’re going to be fast. I have a theory that they’re going to be able to dive over windows and pallets whilst being able to attack at the same time. Which I hope is true as it would be awesome.

He's one of my mains. I long for more cosmetics for him that aren't memey, but we're not quite there yet. Soon.(TM)
I’m glad to hear it. I honestly rarely see him. I’m currently loving his ugly Christmas sweater with the dark jeans / orange trainers from the rift. But, the fact he came out in 2018 and virtually has no cosmetics is pretty sad. #Justice4PebbleMan

Adam Francis.
He has very few cosmetic options to begin with and I don't personally like the styles they've gone with for him. Like, he's a teacher, but most of his clothes are either a variation on his default trench coat or "wait, I'm hip too". Really hoping he'll eventually get some classier/dressier outfits more on part with what Felix and Ace have (because I'm sure he could pull off that look) or some "old-timey" outfits like David and Yui.
I rarely see people playing as Adam so I’ve been using him as my main recently lol. I absolutely love his P3 cosmetic because it reminds me of Castiel from Supernatural and that’s my favourite show.
I definitely agree that he could do with more diversity when it comes to his cosmetics though. I love his denim jacket / jeans and his ugly Christmas sweater but not much else.
-
In all honesty, I’m not sure. Every survivor and killer has at least one cosmetic that I absolutely love. Zarina, for example doesn’t have as many options as somebody like Meg. But her Revolutionary Road cosmetic is one of the best in the game for me. So I’m not sure what else I’d want her to have as I’m completely content wearing that.
-
I think it’s dumb that people assume just because you’re playing as a character it means you’re using their perks. This wasn’t a diss at the OP btw, just something I’ve noticed in general.
I play as David a lot, but I don’t like Dead Hard and it makes me laugh seeing killers be reluctant to hit me because they’re waiting for me to use it lol. Sometimes it works in my favour though.
-
I would love for this to happen. It’s such a tease having to watch streamers play in the PTB whilst having to wait weeks to be able to enjoy the new chapter.
I’m hoping it’s something that does eventually come to console. PUBG has a PTB available on PS4 and they also have a cool feature that lets you know what platform people are playing on instead of the generic globe icon that we currently have.

Once the exit gates are powered the killer has a new objective which is to prevent the survivors from escaping. And this mechanic isn't to punish survivors from doing their job. This is to ensure that the game is more tense for both sides and making it so that both sides still have a chance to win.
Also I do have a mechanic for early game if you wanna hear it?
I just don’t think it would be an enjoyable mechanic for survivors. Imagine if there were 2 survivors left and one is being chased whilst the other fixes the last gen. Instead of now being able to go and 99% a gate, they have to waste time trying to find the handle which also alerts the killer. In a scenario like this, just waiting for the other person to die and looking for the hatch would be the easier option. It would just promote unhealthy gameplay which we already have enough of. Also, imagine being the sole survivor and the killer closes the hatch. You may as well just give up. As you basically have zero chance of getting a gate open then. A change like this would make keys more popular than they already are and I don’t think anybody wants that lol.
If any change to objectives is to occur, it should be for early game. To stop survivors just spawning in on generators and it’ll also give slower killers chance to build momentum.
What’s your idea for early game?
-
I don’t agree with there being an extra objective once the exit gates are powered. Once that happens, you failed your job as a killer, which is to prevent survivors from repairing generators. I don’t think it’s fair to punish survivors for simply doing their objective.
However, I wouldn’t be against something for early game. Maybe all generators start locked and you have to find and press a button that unlocks them all for everybody else in the trial.

No, it really isn't. The only reason you should start crawling instead of recovering is if you have Tenacity. That's it. As a slug the ONLY thing you can do to be useful is recover. If you're not doing that, you're wasting the time of anyone coming to get you.
People are trying to get you up ASAP because you're out of the game when you're down. I'm seeing a lot of WGLF too, which is a great anti-slug perk.
I'm sure you mean well, but you're wrong about this.
No I’m not wrong. What I shared was my opinion, so don’t tell me I’m ‘wrong’ for it.

It’s got nothing to do with headphones. If you gain enough distance and the killer doesn’t know where you are, they won’t be able to hear you. Plus, don’t get me started on the audio bugs that cause survivors to have no sound on the ground.

No they’re not?
Sometimes the smartest thing to do is to crawl away and then recover. Why stay in the area where the killer downed you? By crawling away first you reduce the chances of the killer being able to find you.
The REAL problem is when you clearly start crawling away as soon as you’re downed and somebody runs in to pick you up. They need to use their brain and realise you clearly haven’t started recovering yet and you’re trying to get to a safer location.

For some reason, the only killer that actually creeps me out when they chase me or if I see them coming towards me in the distance, is Leatherface. I just find him really menacing, so I am both excited / nervous as hell for his upcoming cosmetic. 😳😂

Do you really believe that sitting still in tall grass as dark small character and as big and bright character are one and same things?
I never said that? But would you also see a P3 Meg sat in tall and dark grass? Or Zarina in her dark brown suit? And so forth and so on. There’s plenty of characters you can be stealthy with.
The Claudette bias needs to end.
