I feel you. I started playing when Pyramid Head came out and I was in a dark place in my life as well. I got in a car accident a few months before that and it really effected me mentally (physically no one got hurt which was good), my old high school shut down a year after I graduated, COVID made everything more miserable, and other things were happening. As much as I give this game ######### it has done a lot for me when I needed it most. It’s nice to see someone that feels the same way.
Ah dang man, that sucks! Sending lots of good energy your way! I just keep telling myself that sh*t gets better over time because in the end, it does.

cool to meet another musician! (that's why I made the thread after all)
could I check something of yours out? do you have a channel or anything? (My site is Rosinrush.ca)
I don't have a channel or anything like that but I did post a video yesterday on my ig story its @dino.barr :))

I've been playing violin for 7 years so I think I have a right to share my input. I LOVE the music that is in DBD. It just adds that extra bit of "pizzaz" so to say to the game. My favs are definitely Pyramid Heads and Demogorgons. Although I'm really sad to see the last one is probably going to be removed. My only complaint is that there aren't unique chase themes for every killer.

I really needed this, thank you.

Same here on Xbox. BHVR fix plss

Because not only is it statistically unlikely, but it is also the oldest cope in the book. Anytime Survivors display any level of game sense, Killers seem to assume they're facing one of these SWF DEATH SQUADS.
I think it'd be great if we could see who's in party with who, not only would that allow Killers to prepare, yes for some that would mean lobby dodge, but it will also dispel this myth of all good solo players being in a squad at all times.
You do have a good point, and as someone mentioned earlier, I might just be focusing on bad matches. As for your idea on seeing who's in a party, I think that would be a really good addition to the game :)

It's definitely hard to do, the really rough matches stick out so badly, so I totally get it.
What I found to help me was forcing myself to laugh at the absurdity of things not going well. It feels weird at first, but then you actually start to find it funny lol.
I think that's a good idea, I'll try that out! I really appreciate your response :)
-
@Clowning said:
Sorry for "not respecting your opinion", but you're not playing against "sweaty SWF squads" only every single game.
I don't think you're disrespecting my opinion but I'm curious about why you think that :)

With all due respect, I think you're just noticing more bad games as opposed to only playing bad games. However, I do think that there's some sort of problem for a lot of people in general.
It also isn't just a killer balance problem. I'm a solo queue survivor main, and I feel like most of my games are complete wastes of time, with killers wiping out half my team before more than one gen gets done.
Overall, it's just not fun for a lot of people on both sides lately, that I can totally agree with. Right now, the game is in a state where killers get absolutely destroyed by SWFs, but solos get absolutely destroyed by most killers. If you overly buff killers, solo survivor mains will have no reason to play. But then, if you don't buff them enough, SWFs completely crush them. It's just severely unbalanced overall.
Hmm, I never thought about it like that, and you do have a point. Maybe If I put some sort of mental block around these bad games maybe I'll have more fun. Thank you for your input :)

But don't they make survivors "just do bones" and slow the gen rush. Isn't that what killers have been asking for ?
You are right about that, but at the same time, it gives them (at least in my opinion) an overpowered ability.
-
YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES
Or just remove them.
-
Honestly, at this point, I've just stopped playing killer altogether. It's just not fun anymore when you can't get a single kill and when the survivors rub it in your face (t-bagging, flashlight clicking, etc.) I'm not encouraging you to give up on killer but at the same time, it's an option. If I were you, I would try to just put a mental block towards it if that makes sense.
-
@ThanksForDaily said:
Tbags and clicking the flashlight is your definition of toxic behaviour?
Pressing a button is not a toxic behaviour.
I disagree with this. Yes, they are just "pressing a button" but at the same time, they're taunting the killer and trying to make them feel bad for not being able to catch them. After you see this in almost every game (especially with the introduction of SBMM) it's hard to keep that motivation to play killer alive when you're constantly being taunted by the other team. Honestly, I think t-bagging and flashlight clicking is just straight-up rude, and it sucks that people don't realize/care about it. I rest my case.

The map feels super bad to play on. "Just give it time to learn the layout" I have played like 40 games on it already, have learned the layout and it still feels HORRIBLE to play on. I don't know how could you take all the criticism of Midwich and make a map that is 10 times worse to play on. Half of the killers' powers barely work on it and as survivor you either hold W or drop god pallets, it's anti-fun. Don't get me started on those 2 god windows next to the main hall, it's literally an infinite (thank god barely anyone knows how busted that set up is).
I just don't know how could you look at the entire RE franchise and take the worst possible location to make a DBD map.
Personally, I think the aesthetic of RPD is awesome but it just doesn't belong in DBD. If BHVR won't remove the map, I think they should at least rework it. I don't give a crap if the map is accurate to RE2, I just want it to be balanced and fun to play on.

@Alionis said:
After over 5 years and 4000 hours of playing DbD as both killer and survivor, even through the darker times of DbD, I'm quitting killer and unless the balance issues are addressed, I won't come back to it.
That decision was prompted by 4 hours of playing killer with exactly zero progression on the challenge to kill 15 survivors by any means. I'm not kidding, I played about 20-25 games and I couldn't kill a single survivor.
It's such a horrible feeling, you play and play and play and you don't get anywhere. It doesn't seem to matter what I did, I couldn't overcome the obstacle. Either I had bad map rng, 4man SWF, key escapes, second chance perks, you name it. There was always something to deny me progressing my objective enough to actually kill someone. I got some hooks in here and there, but that is not enough. Switching killers didn't help, switching loadouts didn't help either and it's been progressively getting worse over the last few weeks. I'm out of ideas what I could change at this point, so I'll have to consider just leaving it.
I'm not looking for pity or anything, I just wanted to get this off my chest. I've never felt so frustrated and powerless as the supposed "power role" as today, and I'm just done. And honestly, looking at the fuckery the devs are doing with boon totems doesn't give me any hope that something will ever change about balance. It hasn't happened after 5 years, I don't think it's going to happen anymore. I know some people are very much "the glass is half full", but there's just no reason to be optimistic about this.
I've come close to quitting killer a bunch of times, but seeing that progress bar stuck at 0 after 4 hours straight has done it for me.
Honestly Op, I feel the same exact way. I still love DBD with a passion but with the changes the devs make, it's so hard for me to keep that passion alive. I've also stopped playing killer for the time being and I hope the devs will finally listen to player input after more and more people stop playing killer. I wish you the best in either playing Survivor or other games.

No, it's Skill-Based Matchmaking. Goes down when you do bad and up when you do good.
Lol again, it really doesn't seem like that because all I'm facing are toxic SWFs.

It is not random. It is based on escapes/kills/time, appearently.
Whaaaa??? It really doesn't seem like that.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Grades have nothing to do with matchmaking, additionally you cannot go down grades so they aren't comparable to ranks.
So is it just completely random who I face? Because all I'm seeing are toxic SWF squads who don't stop clicking their flashlights lmaoo

EXACTLY! I hate how BHVR is so entitled that they won't listen to player input the slightest.
-
I really hope they get rid of the map permanently. I love it in RE2 but it's too complex and big to be in dbd. They should stick with outdoor maps.
-
@A_Skinny_Legend said:
I think that's it. It also makes them all slimy and dirty and they get that blue stuff around their screen.
Well, that makes it kinda underwhelming for me tbh. I feel like there should be more incentive to use the vaccines around the map. Maybe the survivors should get a status effect? idk.

There are a lot I love and many killers have some of my favorites but the one that takes the cake is really Trapper with his ocean outfit with old diver Suit with the anchor as his weapon. I really love ocean themed things especially when it’s done how it was with the trapper which is why I’m sad we didn’t get the nautical theme for legion and doctor with David and someone else that they ONLY have on mobile. Don’t worry I also love plague doctor, almost all legion cosmetics and other blight etc but just by itself ocean trapper is for me.
Thats really cool! My fav is the MacMillan Miner I think it's called.

Me personally, I'm scared of the ocean, not because I'm scared of water but because we don't know what lives in the ocean depths, not only that but just try and picture yourself under the ocean, you're in a personal sub or heavy diving suit, it's dark, you have no way of getting back up, you're running out of air, and slowly being crushed to death as you begin to feel the immense pressure of hundreds of thousands of gallons of water, you twist your head and hear a loud, feral roar, it doesn't sound like anything you've ever seen before, you realise it's the end of you, and you pray to whatever god you pray too that you die from suffocation before you become whatever made that roar's next meal
scary ######### man
So I had an experience back in first grade with a yellow jacket that clung to my ear and stung me several times. I've been freaked out of bees and wasps ever since. I actually have a diagnosed phobia of them. Also spiders...ew.

I main Pyramid Head and Cheryl, I love the Silent Hill franchise, my only regret is that I never went back and played the original .I don't no about console ,but the PC version still holds up.
For Survivor, I've been raining Steve mostly because of the Scoops Ahoy skin but also because of the build I have on him. For Killer I main Doc and Pyramid Head. I found out how to use these killers in a pretty efficient way. Pig and Plague are honorable mentions.

This is my opinion. Trading cosmetics would be dope in DbD. But personally, I like to earn my BP fair and square. If BP trading was introduced; I wouldn't use it at all.

@Seiko300 said:
I'm gonna say Clown and Ghostface just because these are easily some of the most grounded and realistic characters in the game that you might actually see in real life.
Ghostface is the prime example of this, the entire point of the Scream movies was Horror movies happening in real life and this fact always scared me. That's honestly why Ghostface is one of the scariest characters in the game because it's honestly entirely feasible and plausible that this could happen. He's a psychopath that acts perfectly normal during the day and then has a field day at night murdering for fun. Obsessively stalking his individuals chartering and logging all their movements and daily schedules, and of course the classic creepy taunting phone calls and text messages which is obviously reminiscent of a real and actual stalker which if you are aware is a truly horrible, creepy, and scary experience to have to go through on its own, even if nothing violent happens.
BIG yikes.
Clown much like Ghostface is also eerily grounded. His origin story about where he comes from, a naturally athletic and strong teen with some violent and off putting tendencies at first that eventually developed into some truly dark and horrific behavior after indulging in "Drinks, junk food, [and] drugs ... to excess." So, despite already being naturally strong, he drugs his victims to secure his catch and overpower them even further. Being drugged, disoriented, running away from a huge Clown is creepy especially if you put it into context he catches you at fairs and the traveling circus, where your guard is down you're enjoying yourself and all of a sudden this guy is eyeing you from the edge of the fairgrounds. Jesus christ.
I would dread to meet any of them. While Ghost Face is very creepy I feel like The Plague would be the worst for me. Imagine non-stop vomiting until you die a painful death. Not fun.

In Partnership with Dead by Daylight, our fellow Fog Whisperers released a trailer of what's going to be coming with the 4th Anniversary. I am aware that some may just want to watch the trailer instead of reading this post, but I felt like being helpful and I wanted to at least make it seem easier for people when the event starts.
What's Coming
This milestone of an event brings so many new things, including an exclusive time-limited game mechanic called 'The Anniversary Crown'. It also includes new cosmetics for two characters, charms and themed objects in the game.
The Anniversary crown
While you're in a trial, tracking down a golden crown and equipping it will give killers AND survivors a golden glow around their torso. If you escape as a survivor or finish the trial as the killer (I'm not particularly sure what it means by 'finish' in terms of kills but we'll just have to see) while the glow is active, you unlock a 'celebratory' golden crown as a cosmetic for any ORIGINAL killer or survivor.
Anniversary cosmetics
As you log into Dead by Daylight during the 4th anniversary event, you will earn two new anniversary themed cosmetics for The Deathslinger and Claudette. I believe they will be unlocked for free but I'm not too sure on that front. (In my opinion they actually look alright).
New Charms
Free for everyone, the event comes with two new exclusive anniversary charms which are easy to find as they are usually a symbol of a cake to represent Dead by Daylight's birthday. (Pretty cool huh)
Themed Objects
Similarly to last year, some of the objects in game will feature new themed hooks. The hooks will have two balloons floating above them with party flags wrapped around the top. The same goes with generators and lockers, although the lockers won't feature balloons.
New Items and offerings
Everyone will receive a 4th anniversary Med-kit, flashlight and offering in game as you progress through your bloodweb (although most people either already knew this or tried them out in custom matches). The offering grants you 104% bonus bloodpoints. Two features that are really cool are A. the med-kit explodes with confetti once you finish healing someone and B. the flashlight explodes with confetti when you blind the killer.
Conclusion
In my opinion I think this will be the best anniversary event we've ever had in the history of Dead by Daylight. Sure the game is in a bad place right now with all the bugs with certain killers and sound issues, but I hope as a community we can try to forget about the bugs, even for at least one day to celebrate the anniversary event.
I decided to write this out to try and help newer players have a better understanding of the anniversary event, or for those who couldn't be bothered to watch the trailer for whatever reason. I hope this benefits at least some of you as it does for me.
I just logged in, didn’t get the cosmetics😭

I only play one character, Jake, and I was lucky enough to be able to get teachables I wanted from the Shrine. Recently, however, I've wanted to get some teachables that were not in the shrine, and good god, it's a pain in the ass to level up those characters.
At least with killers, they have different play styles, so you can play them directly to get BP and it's fun because it's a different playstyle. If I want to level up Nancy, I can either play her directly and essentially throw away the perks I have on Jake, or I can play Jake and not get anything for him because all the BP is going to Nancy.
How do you guys find the patience to do it?
I just get everyone to Lvl. 40

Map pressure is too vague the way most people use it. You having trouble in the chase or with patrolling?
But basically, don't worry too much about getting tormented, prioritize getting them downed. PWYF and STBFL don't syerngize with him. he's a ranged Killer, he doesn't rely on M1 attacks or raw speed in a chase.
Remember that you need to use his M2 when they are vaulting, pallet dropping or running through a narrow corridor, not just whenever they are in range. Otherwise you will miss and a LOT.
I see; thank you for the advice!
