I don’t follow the discussion on this much, but I understand the mentality.
People feel that if they ignore it, then the silent lack of opposition would be seen as support. So those who oppose do so loudly. If it’s gonna slip into the game, it won’t be because they were quiet about it.
-
Don’t think this would work. They already use 3rd party chat. If in-game chat came with a downside (killer hearing them), then they’ll just keep using what they currently have.
No, the solution is a The Imp. A 6th player with weak abilities that aids the killer. Most importantly, has in-game chat with killer.

What do you wanna bet they never turned it off. Just made the announcement to test the placebo effect.

Id say a vampire is just as human as Freddy Kruger, both were human at one time but are now both something else.
As far as a dragon, thatd be just way to big and i know its not originally from DnD but one from the that fame is enough lol.
As far as snakes go... well A medusa like character would be pretty cool imo as well. Spiders would take a little more though to not be generic and im just not that big into Werewolves to come up with any good ideas for them.
But vampires have tons if different abilities depending on which lore youre drawing from, so i thought itd have lots of potential for diverse gameplay depending on which direction they went with it.
Admittedly, yes, vampires meet the human qualification. My concern is just how common they are in today’s entertainment culture.
Medusa would be fun, so good mention on that one! Human, horrifying, not overly available everywhere else. check, check, and check! I would absolutely support that one.

Come to think of it, Bond would be a hoot!

Unbreakable. That way I essentially get an extra life. I can literally get hit by a train and just get back up and walk home like nothing happened.
Careful now. You’ll still be inured once you get up. Might even be “mangled” or “hemorrhaging”. I wouldn’t take on that train just yet if I were you.
-
I can think of ways to make vampires fun, but we need to be careful with the slippery slope of heavily overused bad guys. First it’s a vampire, then a werewolf of course. But then the floodgates open. What’s to stop us from doing zombies? And heck, how about a dragon? And before you know, DBD has the same cast of characters as every other title out there.
I’m not saying it’s a bad idea. Obviously these creatures are highly popular for a reason. I’m just saying DBD needs to be careful to maintain its distinction.
In my opinion they made a mistake by using Demogorgon. Before that, all killer were essentially “human”. With Demo, we have our first “beast”. Now there no argument to prevent others from being introduced. Wolves, spiders, snakes, etc. Any of these could be made into a unique killer, but I believe this would dilute the DBD brand...

Devs said something about editing how discordance works. Not sure what they really meant by that
Yeah, they were referring to people asking for the option to choose tiers, since some people think tier 1 discordance is better. Basically they said it ain’t gonna happen.
That’s why I think my idea here is still viable. It’s simply a change to a perk, not the entire perk selection interface.
-
If we could just do something about that continuous boom then I’d be happy. Still, I feel like this kind of “tokens” change would bring this perk up to top-tier usage.
-
I’m sure you guys saw the flurry of posts a few days ago, but I fully support the idea of the totem counter being 5 lit candles in the basement. One burns out each time a totem is cleansed. It completely fits the atmosphere and theme if the game, and introduces some risk in order to access the info.

I'll say it upfront. I'm a killer main who, while lacking a short fuse, definitely gets capital-s Salty. Like, so salty it seeps through my playstyle and makes it unfun for everyone involved. I've DC'd plenty of times when everything hits the fan (Like when you're trying an experimental killer build with low-tier perks and you get a red forest map of all realms while the 4 survivors run A tier perks.)
I've heard a lot of backlash about DC penalties a while back, which have died down recently due to the MMR system being the new hot topic, but I've been thinking about it.
If I'm salty enough to where the game is genuinely super unfun to me and I disconnect, why would a penalty really matter to me? Unless I've been doing it often and get a long ban, I'm not going to return to a game that infuriated me within the allotted ban time. Maybe it's just me and my lifestyle, but if you're really angry enough to DC that often and want to play immediately after, I think you have a personal addiction problem that the game shouldn't have to adapt around.
Oh and also I have ZERO clue if these are still active cause again, I don't pick up DBD for like another two hours if I DC. Please let me know if they aren't so that I can evaluate how much clownery is in my bloodstream.
(Also rework second stage hook so that survivors can't suicide and so that my spacebar doesn't get beaten to a pulp everytime I play survivor thanks bye)
Last I heard they’re still disabled (2nd time). That’s prolly why the talk has died down. If they can fix the hack exploit and re-enable penalties, you can be certain it’ll be a hot topic again!

Honestly these please change swf threads are like a bad rash you try to put an end to.
The soothing cream of constructive discussion helps. Criticisms with no real input are like scratching the rash. As we all know, that only causes it to spread! 🙃

I've just recently started playing and have been doing swf for about all of my 20 hours of gameplay, even though I'm a killer main. I find it really fun, and even though we team, I still lose and win games. I think swf is fine as is, and if you don't want to be playing with people with comms, you probably shouldn't be playing the game
So far your experience is pretty standard for someone who’s fairly new. I felt the same way my first few months playing.
Once you get some more time under your belt, you’ll start noticing the issues people complain about. For the most part, SWF is fine, but when you go against a hit squad, you’ll know it! Once you really start humming, it’ll begin to feel like the hit squads come every other match. This is when you may find yourself making your own post about it on these forums! 😉

I think a solution to this would be, since the killer can see the status bar, just give those auras instead of survivors
Now we’re talking! So easy that way, and solos can still see it as well. Best part is that it negates the issue of lobby dodge. DC may still be an issue until penalties are back, but that’s a different topic altogether.
-
Balanced landing. This’ll be a blast!
-
I really like the idea, with a slight edit (haven’t read the thread, so I’m sorry if this was already suggested).
Simply give SWF members different color auras WHILE IN A MATCH! Anyone with a red aura is solo. SWF will have the same color other than red.
- 2 reds, 2 blues = 2 solos and a 2-person SWF.
- 2 blues, 2 greens = 2 2-person SWFs.
“But wait! Now the killer HAS to run aura-reading perks! ” While this would help, you could also just hook a survivor and see their aura that way.
Btw, I think survivors should see the same thing. That way a solo running Bond, for example, will know that blues are working together and yellows are solos.
-
Discordance is so annoying! Useful, but annoying. Here’s how I’d like to see it edited:
When 2 or more survivors are on a gen, receive a loud noise notification (only one) and the gen will have a yellow aura for as long as multiple survivors are working it. Receive a token each time Discordance produces a loud noise notification, up to a max on 2/3/4 tokens. Consume a token to further damage an already damaged/regressing generator. (This is equal to a normal kick.)
I think this could be very powerful, but not OP. Plenty of counterplay to deny tokens by not teaming up on gens (which is more efficient anyway. And it’ll be easy to tell when a killer is using this perk.
But here’s why I like it. It makes it worth your while to travel across the map to a discordance gen. Most of the time you get there and it’s so far gone that kicking is almost pointless. Now you can actually make a real dent on that gen’s progress and stand a chance if they try to “tap-swarm” it. Furthermore, no more annoying booms every few seconds!

Maybe drop treasure chests (traps) around the map which (forcefully) lure survivors to dig for a few seconds + skill checks.

We’ll call him ButterBall! His special power is.....being delicious!

I’ve seen discussions about this before citing some sort of legal issue with the idea. It would be great if it’d work. Maybe someone from BHVR could enlighten us.

I can’t be certain on this, but I think Ayrun is pretty safe. If he swears, it’s not often.

I have recently found out about the Adopt The Nun ( or any killer ) achievement and I don’t know how to get it. I know I have to get 2 pip, but what does that mean? Can somebody help?
After any match, you earn emblems. You’ll see these on the tab where you see your pips tally up.
Mouse-over on each of the emblems and you’ll see a description of how to earn better emblems for that category. Getting 4 iridescent emblems will guarantee you that Merciless Killer rating.
Btw, when you say Adept Nun, do you mean Nurse? Just curious.

There was pac-man at the cinema, and original Nintendo with Mario and Duck Hunt. But the primary game of my childhood was Sonic.
Then there was a Doom on DOS. 3D? Yeah boy! But when Bug came out, that blew my socks off from a graphics standpoint.
After that I was all PC for years, especially RTS like Starcraft and Age of Empires. (The lesser known Earth series still holds a special place for me: Earth 2150 in particular. Oh, and BattleZone I & II). I’m purely PS4 now, but I do have pangs of nostalgia for the old computer days.
You wanna try a great old game that you won’t regret?! Star Control: The Ur-Quran Masters! It has a group of fans that made it usable on modern computers. Search for it and you’ll find their site. Space battles, diplomacy, resource collection, upgrades and modules, fleet management, and all this from an old DOS game!

Sounds strong but unengaging for both sides. I'm trying to think of ways to make it more dynamic but I don't think it's a concept you can work with too much.
Maybe if the walls were more of a "secondary power" to zone survivors and make some places riskier, but 1 the killer cannot go through them and 2 they're only temporary.
I like the thought of it being a secondary power, but if the killer can’t go through at least some portion of it, then he’s just making things harder for himself since survivors can hug turns more tightly. Also keep in mind these walls could strategically block certain doors, windows, or tight passages.
-
Blame hackers. They target streamers they don’t like and trick the system into banning them for days. Because of these high profile incidences, the devs quite simply have no choice but to remove the ban until they can prevent such exploits. They’ve now stopped the dc ban twice, and for the same reason each time.
sigh. Hackers are scum. Here they ruin a game. Elsewhere they ruin lives. May karma be swift and fierce.
-
That’s a great question and I hope somebody comes to clarify.
That said, here’s my opinion of how it works (from a killer standpoint). I believe the MMR aggregates ratings from multiple different criteria: kill ratio, match length, chase length, etc. I would assume one of those criteria is time since you last played a certain killer, or amount played in a certain timeframe. That way, if you haven’t played huntress in a month, yet are highly skilled — and you do several matches daily with Ghostface, your huntress matches will pair you with lower skill survivors. At least until you increase your consistency with huntress again.
This is all my guess - everything. But it makes sense to me.
-
Depends on what those auras are doing. Being chased and everyone getting hurt? Showing at least some attempt at trying to help? Nah, I’ll hang on. Starting gens, searching chests, and otherwise crouching around the edge? Cya!
-
Fully agree on everything here except MindBreaker. It may only have a 3 second exhaustion, but when you chase them off the gen, they typically RUN away, so the exhaustion doesn’t reduce as long as they’re running. This can be enough for them to miss their critical sprint burst, dead hard, or lithe when they need it most. Once they realize what’s going on, they still have to stop running mid-chase to cancel the effect.
-
Oh good to know. Well.....it’s hilarious!

Also I still have no idea what to do in the Institute! :D!
At the Institute you need to change your mindset a bit. It's no longer about hiding traps, because they'll be visible. On this map it's more about closing down loops and passages. When they realize a door or window is blocked by a trap, their choices become limited and you can catch them more easily. If they don't notice - SNAP! So go for nice bright "detour" signs to force their path.
If you DO want to try to hide a couple traps, I've found that putting them right on the transition of a doorframe can help camouflage them a bit. There are a few grassy spots, but those are often anticipated. And as was mentioned earlier, staircases pay dividends. Trap the very top step. Any further out and they can dodge around it once they realize what they're looking at.
-
Plus i have yet to see survivor's blind a killer just by flashing them a bright smile 😁 ..... ummm, devs, pls ignore this idea! 🙊
-
Let's change back Plague's vomit aim while we're at it! Since the update it shoots waaaay too high. Gotta look at the ground to hit!
-
Maybe it'd be easier to let people keep a tally of their emblems and "spend" them on certain things. Spend 3 bronze emblems for a yellow medkit. Exchange one iridescent emblem for 15,000 bloodpoints. So on and so forth.
-
Here's a tip that works well for me often enough. Don't break pallets! After one is thrown, trap one side of it (especially if it's grassy). This pallet will feel like a safe haven to other survivors in future chases, as well as break the loop of the current chase if they watch you trap it. I've had a single one of these traps catch all 4 survivors in the past!
-
When 3 gens pop that fast, just head to an exit gate lever and play on your phone. They want to work on gens that badly? Let 'em! I'm sure they're having a blast. They're so focused they may not realize you're not chasing them until they've done all 5. When EGC starts immediately afterward, they'll realize that you weren't hunting, they just did all the work, and that the gen rush didn't frustrate you. I'm sure they'll have had a blast.
Other hint. After you open the exit gate, move forward and put your face between left side of the switch and the brick protrusion, and play on your phone again. Now they can't blind you or initiate chases. No boldness or altruism points for them, daaaarn. Hope the gen rush was worth it.

Hawkins + Spies = Killer's Paradise
-
I still think The Imp is viable. It incentivizes playing against SWF because this feature would add a whole new dimension to the killer experience. Your “reward” is that you have more fun! Furthermore, actually BEING the imp would be a lot of fun for people who aren’t in the mood for the stresses of being an actual killer, but still want to hunt and chase.

You don't have to escape. I was on hook in basement with teammate and last one went out through exit gate and now I have 1/3.
Wow that’s a relief!
-
When it says “survive” while they escape, does that not mean you have to escape too? If not, then this is at least better than I thought it was!
-
As killer, once I get my 3 stacks, I feel like I’ve earned the snowball that follows.
As survivor, there’s not much that scares me in the game anymore. But once a teammate goes down after 3 and we all get the “exposed / devour hope” notification, it’s sheer dread! Screw gens. Screw healing myself or others. The totem, that’s all that matters. Get that totem!
Devour Hope is very aptly named btw. 🙃

Wow another swf forum. This time I'll state what I've heard other people suggested in order to nerf swf and my personal opinion. Removing it completely would be a bad idea so, here are the alternatives!
1. Remove the ability to swf as 4 man and make it 2 man. Interesting choice but I don't suggest it. This suggestion was made for swf that use comms, but if I want to play swf with my buds without comms, wouldn't this be too punishing for me? It would also hurt by some amount the content creators' content since playing with other streamers/YouTubers is more interesting to the viewers.
2. Give bonus blood points to the killer and protect their add-ons from being spent when the face a swf. Good idea, but I don't know if a killer will think it's worth to waste minutes of their time sweating vs swf so they can get some bonus bps and a free white ward.
3. Limit the swf perks by having 2/3 each. I don't mind this change tbh, but it would be a bit to harsh since it would punish creativity.
And now for my personal choice:
4. Make it impossible for 4 man to have the same perks. For example, if I run OoO, Ds, unbreakable and dead hard, nobody else on my swf can have these 4 perks. So we will need to have different builds in order to play. This rewards creativity and removes some annoyance from the killer side since they will have to worry about one ds. Personally, I would also suggest to add some message telling the killer that there's a swf, and maybe also highlighting the swf group if it's less that 4 people.
What do you guys think? Let me know down below.
There’s another idea out there (mine) that you may not have seen. The Imp!
Expand the concept of SWF by giving the killer a buddy. The Imp (short, stubby, but quick) is a less powerful assistant who can’t injure survivors, but can run around and harass them, break pallets and gens, make them scream, interrupt gen progress, cause them to stumble while running, etc. Most importantly, he has Entity-provided telepathy with the killer (built-in comms you can toggle on or off).
The killer chooses in the lobby if he wants an imp or not. If he chooses yes, he can invite a buddy or wait for a random, but his matchmaking will always prioritize SWF survivor teams over solos.
And there ya have it! The basics at least. If you find my old thread about this from a while back, there’s a lot more detail there.
-
Well, my one-time $10 payment has bought me the rift 3 times over already, soon to be 4. I’d say that amortized pretty well, so I’m happy with anything they put out since it doesn’t cost me a single extra cent.
