  • I mean, I've spent maybe $50 on this game over 5 years....$10 of which I've been recycling theough the passes when there's cosmetics I like. I don't have any trouble winning and the only meta perk I don't have is CoB. So yeah, you can spend a bunch of money in this game, but you don't need to. Compared to other games they're pretty good about offering ways to buy characters/perks with in-game currency and frequently have chapter sales. I've never paid more than $5 for a chapter. If you're patient there are options. I've probably got around 1500 hours playtime out of my $50 so far. That's pretty good value.

  • There was a graphics bug on ps4 a looong time ago that would make it look like a failed skillcheck every time you hit one. It was patched out and I haven't heard anything about it happening recently. Would definitely need more information on what you're doing when it happens and what killers are running. If you get video, upload to youtube, then post link here and we could give you a better idea of what it is. Could be a perk, a bug, or even a bad connection making you miss checks when it seems like they're good. It's hard to tell without seein what you're seein.

  • The timing of swings got changed a tiny bit when they did the big perk overall/killer pass. It's not as crazy as before that patch, but still pretty quick. At this time, working as intended. If your animations seemed really long it could be a bit of animation lag in game.

  • Yes, if they stick to their usual pattern

Next Winter event it will be in the store as a paid skin.

The following Winter event it will be available for shards.

No guarantees on that, but it's how they have done it in the past.

There's still time so try to focus those pieces. If you're still on 1st node, you only need 1 end node to move to the next page. Hope you get done.

So I picked the game up and started back playing again. I went ahead and bought Nemesis & Sadako for the perks. I don't have eruption yet, but have COB.

I'm playing Doctor on Garden of Joy x3 straight, Haddonfield, then Knight map x5 STRAIGHT, RPD, ARTIST MAP and then quit. I'm running Bamboozle, Overcharge, COB, & Pain Resonance!

How am I supposed to do anything as M1 on these maps? The map design is so bad. If it wasn't for survivors being altruistic, I would've gotten 1K every time AT MOST. It takes FOREVER for M1 to catch up... Literally. Pre drop and run on... Nothing you can do.

On Haddonfield, there was a gen in the house right next to a window. The window was just far enough to where if you dart towards it, it's a fast vault. The houses always had a window or a gate to jump at the house to slow you down massively!

Again, as M1... With a few meta perks... What do you do? If I had Nurse (on PC I'll smash them), ok no problem. Doctor? Destroyed.

I'm playing on console right now.

To your original point that I kinda skipped over.....

You got a REALLY bad string of maps there. Usually you won't get all the bad maps back to back like that. Garden is completely busted. I've seen good Nurses get wrecked on that one cuz it's just bad. RPD's not as bad as it used to be. Once you get used to the layout it's pretty good on most killers (Blights and Onis don't typically do so well there, but it's not insta-lose for em). Hope you get a better map rotation next time you play.

  • Never had that pop up. If it was just 1 person, I'd say your game file was corrupt. Since it's more than 1 instance, most likely problem is that DBD servers are getting hit with ddos. Could be a regional thing. I haven't seen any info so far suggesting that it's widespread. Wait it out, try later. Check BHVR's twitter to see if they mention anything.

  • There's no good way to get em to do it, but there are ways to make sure they don't. Grabbing hook used to mean "im getting camped, dont save". People that have been playing awhile might ignore you if you grab hook. Trying to actually free yourself on hook usually means someone is offing themselves. Probably not gonna waste my time goin for em if they're wastin the hook timer.

Veteran players know how long you can hang there before you hit stage 2 or 3. They may be giving killer time to go away or trying to pop a gen or regrouping to make a save. Your best chance at unhook is to just sit there patiently and hit all the skill checks if you're in struggle.

I was gone for a very long time. I showed up to play for the 100% killer bonus and it's hell on m1. I'm an old Billy main & Nurse main. Billy is dead to me so I don't play him (he was my only p3) and Nurse is nurse. I can play her on console but I try to not use her.

I'm literally wondering WHO DESIGNED THESE MAPS? Who thought it was smart to put a gen by a window they can fast vault? There are also 1000 pallets now!

Ooof, yeah it's gonna take awhile to adjust. Things have changed a ton since the Billy days. Maps are very different now. They're huge and have some absolutely crazy tile RNG. Survivors have never been safer lol. Once you get used to it, you'll see most players aren't as crafty as the old days. It's easier to force mistakes. It's also easier to p3 characters now and get a wide range of perks. Wraith is a good killer to play for people coming back. He can get a lot more map pressure than the other base killers. Just keep playin, ita get better

  • That's a connection issue. Could be you, could be killer, could be a teammate that's about to legit DC. Happens sometimes and there's not much you can do about it.

  • Most likely just a little rust. Depending on how long you've been gone, the game's changed a bit. Older tactics aren't always as viable. I run almost exclusively m1 killers on console without issue.

As for the Doctor, stacking gen regression on him isn't very good. Impossible skill check build is much better. Make your terror radius as big as you can and use the special blast often. You'll find people and keep em at tier 2 as much as possible. Run Distressing (increase TR), Unnerving Presence (make skill check zones smaller), C.phobia (make healing slow and near impossible), and any gen regression perk you want. (I think those are the right perk names. I'm not in game atm, so just use discriptions if I got the names wrong). It destroys most teams on most maps.

  • They'll probably nerf it. I think they'll take another pass at DH too, now that people have figured out how to use it again. Neither of em need a nerf, but it will happen.

Spose Ima weird one. I din't like windows at all. Clutters up the screen and makes it harder for me to be effective. I've also been playing for a long time and am a decent looper. Guess it's good for people to get to know the layouts, but I also think it can hold back people that get too dependent on it. Why would you ever learn how to recognize a strong loop if it's just highlighted for you. So for that reason alone I hope it gets toned down a little.

  • Unique idea, but it'd be an absolute coding nightmare.

  • And a Bahh Humbug to you as well 😁

  • Prestige ranks give you some cosmetics and charms up to 9, I think. There's not much reason to have it, but you'll get em naturally as you get addons or whatever from the bloodweb.

Grades reset every month on the 13th. Only reason to worry about those is to get a nice bloodpoint bonus on reset, up to 1 million BP each for killer and survivor if you get Iri 1.

Matchmaking is kinda it's own thing. We don't get to see our MMR. Escape a trial through the doors or get 3 kills+, your MMR goes up. Die in trial or get 1 kill - , your MMR goes down. It will try to match you with players in a similar bracket, but if there aren't any it throws in whoever's available. It's not a great system and pretty much everyone hates it.

  • That Hag daily has been bugged for a long time. It was posted as a known issue awhile back, but no word on when it will be fixed. For the time being, just scrap it when it comes up.

  • Don't think I'd ever describe my solo matches as joyous or zen, but I definitely prefer it over SWF. SWF makes the game too easy and kinda kills the tension. I also don't like being in comms on DBD. Find it very distracting. I think the only way I'd ever play SWF again would be without comms. It'd be nice playing with people that are reliable and I'd have a feel for their playstyle, but there would still be some mystery and tension in the match. I love when I'm on the edge of my seat in the game and constant comms takes that away.

  • The only thing that would cause your game to get a lock icon is if you let your ps+ subscription expire. You MUST have an active subscription to play ANY online game. It has nothing to do with the new tier system. If you have an ACTIVE ps+ sub and are srill having problems, sign out on your console then log back in.

If you went too long without an ACTIVE subscription, then you will lose your back catalog of free monthly games. I think they give you up to 3 months inactive before that happens, but don't quote me.

not just that you don't need to do a gen, you can't do a gen - the remaining uncompleted gens are blocked.

Indeed. Also, hi Mandy and happy holidays. That is all =)

up to teh C? I can't say I ever tried that before, I 'll have to give it a go!

Yup, just make sure none of the lights come on. As long as they don't have No Way Out they'll never know you touched it and it cuts like 5 seconds off the time to open.

  • If hatch is closed, the gates get powered. You don't need to do a gen. Prime a gate by only goin to the C in esacpe (just before a red light comes on). Then hide somewhere, wait for the killer to check gate and go away. Jump on the gate as soon as he's outta range n you'll have a good chance of gettin it open before he comes back.

  • It's the analog sticks on the controller. If it's registering even slightly off, DBD reads it as you're not pushing all the way forward. Something in how they coded for consoles. Couple things you can try, but no guaranteed fix. First, turn off the vibration function and haptic feedback. Sometimes those mess with it. Second, make sure you're NOT using 120hz mode on PS5 or monitor. Idk why, but that seems to mess with it at times too. Maybe BHVR will patch it out at some point. Until then just gotta try to make the best of it. Keep your controller charged up. It happens more often if the battery is gettin low.

  • Normal Wraith has no heartbeat when cloaked. He does snarl REALLY loud and kinda has a Predator style shimmer when he's movin. His footsteps also sound like a bad upstairs neighbor. Someone that's payin attention or usin headphones will definitely know he's nearby. As said above, Spine Chill will always give you away if you can see the survivors at all (even through windows or small cracks in the enviroment).

  • You answered your own question. Sadly, hexes arent worth it anymore unless you're running all hexes or Plaything with Pentimento. They rarely stay up long enough to get value.

  • Always run Bond or Empathy. If you wanna get really crazy, run Bond+Open Handed. Information is your friend. If you see somebody gettin chased on the other side of the map you know you're safe to sit on that gen. For the love of the Entity, sit on that damn gen!!!!

  • As for the speed differences, do you play on console?

I ask cuz I was feeling the same things. Turned out my controller had just enough stick drift that it was slowing down run inputs. Got a new controller and everythings back to normal.

*if you have everything unlocked now, what's your motivation to play?

    To kill Meg Thomas

Well, I can't argue with that lmao

  • You can still unhook. You can use locker triggered perks like flashbang or built to last. You can take a chase or distract the killer. You can reposition to another gen. There's plenty of stuff you can do to benefit the team. Most people seem to just panic and run in circles or hide, but you don't have to. I get hit with it just like other people, but still find ways to be effective. If you wanna dodge it altogether, run empathy and watch the patterns of who's gettin chased. Then let go of the gen right before it looks like they're goin down. That one takes some practice, but it's doable.

  • 2 points

*most people havent unlocked everything, especially new players. I want new players to get lots of points to unlock stuff cuz they'll keep playing and I have better teammates/competition.

*if you have everything unlocked now, what's your motivation to play?

  • Things have gotten a lil rough for m1 killers in the current meta. The best way around this is to be unpredictable. Survivors expect killers to play a certain way, so when you change up on em it really gets in their head. You're in a chase thats not goin well and you see a surv on the nearby gen? Act like you're chasin past em then at the last second, hit the gen jockey. Down em. Kicked a gen and you know somebodys nearby? Start to walk away then double back quick when you think they're movin on the gen. Works really well if you have cover to break LoS. Be erratic. Force them to make mistakes. Punish overly altruistic players. If they're usin a boon, leave it up. When somebody needs a heal you know exactly where to find em. The old ways don't always work anymore. Think like a survivor and invade their safe spaces. Takes some practice, but it's highly effective against stronger players that are set in their ways.

  • @Emeal said:

Why would anyone care then how they play in match if there is nothing to risk?

People would still want to do well to pip up for wnd of month rewards. System would still be the same as far as 0, 1, or 2 pips for how you played. You just wouldnt lose pips for gettin bad teammates. For example, Ive had many times where I'll be 1 pip away from movin up a grade, then get a string of 4 or 5 matches where a teammate takes themselves out on 1st hook and end up depipping all the way back to the start. Doesnt matter if I did gens or ran the killer, if my whole team dies at 3 gens left, I depip. Wasnt my fault that everyone else gave up.

I don't think they should get rid of de-pips however I do think they should lower the safety pip conditions a bit at iri/gold rank (Use the current Bronze safety for bronze/silver, and current silver for iri/gold).

As well as have a blanket safety pip when someone dc's or dies in the first few minutes of the match. The person who dies can get it if they have been hooked twice (tunnelled out) and can't if their total time on hook is less than 80 seconds and have only been hooked once (People who hook suicide wont get it but people who get abandoned on hook by teammates will), was gonna say 100 sec but had to account for monstrous shrine.

That would be acceptable. Literally the only times I depip on survivor are from people goin out at the start of the match. Occasionally on killer I run into an absolute hit squad and lose a pip, but that doesnt happen too often. Survivor is where we need changes so you cant lose a whole grades worth from a chain of bad starts.

  • Hatch spawns when only 1 survivor is left on the map. You'll see a little hatch icon pop up above the gen counter on your hud when it's active. As for Hag traps, crouch walk. That also works against the little trails Pyramid head can leave on the ground (looks like barbed wire). Crouch walk through either of those things and they won't trigger.

  • This does seem to be happening more often. Sometimes its like they just sink into the ground.

  • They probably wont get rid of em, but they should. Depips dont serve a purpose anymore, but they definitely punish players that get a string of bad luck. I've lost an entire grades worth of pips many times because some turd burglars wanted to dc or give up on first hooks. Theres times it makes me not even wanna play.

  • I've been playin close to 5 years now and I must say, I've never had a teammate do that before. Been left to die when I didn't need to plenty of times, but you done found a next level troll lol Some people suck. Overall, most games aren't that bad. Don't let em get to you

  • I will absolutely boop said snoot. Don't care if I die for it cuz Saw is one of my favorite movie franchises. If I'm playing Pig, anyone that boops gets to live after their 2 hooks. If they bm or try to dodge the hooks or try to sandbag any non-boopers, they die

  • @katoptris said:

We need to nerf pig. I died running thru the exit. :(

There is a cold, dark place in the entity's realm for you lol

  • Just keep playing, you'll start to get it. Watching videos on looping and basic fundamentals can do wanders for your gameplay. I know it seems frustrating at first, but don't let it get to you. A good player can go in without perks/addons on either side and do just fine. Try not to get in the habit of crutching on any particular setup. It will only hold you back in the long run. Also, don't be afraid to lose. Racking up too many wins early on will push you into brackets you're not ready for and that can make the game absolutely miserable.

It's not a bad idea in theory, but the biggest issue is if you make it possible to escape through hatch after being shut killers will just camp hatch until you show up. Which is even more boring than before. Basically bringing back hatch stand-offs but where they're entirely in the killers favor. You wouldn't think someone would waste that much time just for the extra kill but dbd players are super petty about everything.

You're not wrong about how people would play, but it would make doors a little more viable. Right now it kinda just depends on how doors spawn. If they're on connected walls or have LoS to both, killer wins. If they're on opposite walls (provided survivor knows how to prime a door and be patient) survivor wins. At least if there's an alternate hatch method there's a chance for something interesting to happen. I'd like for them to come up with somethin completely different, but that's never gonna happen.

Maybe it’s not the update itself as to why you are getting more blinds. Maybe most people are just feeling comfortable trying out flashlights, where before they were too scared. They probably would have got the save before also, but just never tried. I’m personally still to scared to try them as I play on console.

That definitely factors into it. I've seen a ton of people goin for flashlights compared to before. I get caught often when there are 2 or even 3 people gunnin for the same save. That hardly ever happened before. I'm with you though. I'm on console n suck with flashlights so I don't even bother with it lol I'm much better at droppin an unexpected flashbang or firecracker

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3298988#Comment_3298988

That being an issue with how blinds and FOV interact and not with the new buffer. I can promise that would've still been a blind angle pre-6.4.0

Fair enough, I trust you. That's just one funny example. I do seem to get blinded a lot more since the change. Though, it's been great for baiting people with pick up fakes...so it's not all bad

  • I kinda miss the old standoffs, even though I remember how much they sucked. At least it was interactive.

Think it'd be cool that after hatch is closed, it gets highlighted for both players. Any chest looted at that point guarantees a key to escape. Would give more options to both sides and make it feel tense again, like it could go either way. Maybe they're goin for a door. Maybe lookin for a key. Now it's more of a cat n mouse game.

  • Never seen that one. Try lookin it up on playstation.com/support

  • Some of the ones I've been hit with are pretty ridiculous. Like, c'mon man! I'm lookin at the freakin wall n they just get the tiniest corner of my eye then, BLAM! It's a bit much.

  • Always run Bond.

1- you know whats goin on and wont accidentally run the killer to your team.

2-and most important, youll see the idiot runnin the killer right towards you and you will have time to hide or take some heat if you know how to run.

Bond (or Empathy if you have enough experience) are absolutely invaluable in solo q. Theyve saved my life more than any other perks.

  • I'd love to have em back, but ain't gonna happen. It would be nice if they added more party streamers to the bloodweb or had more events with bp cakes. Something that can give everybody a nice bonus more often since they don't wanna use perks for it.

I REALLY miss the counter on BBQ cuz I'm terrible at keeping track of who I've hooked. Try my best to spread hooks evenly, but it's kinda hard to remember in the heat of the match.

  • Is that a code you're getting at the end of matches or when somebody DCs during loading?

I don't remember the number, but if it's the one I'm thinking of there's nothin you can do about it. Server side issue. Shouldn't cause any problems. Just gotta go on to the next match.

  • @LibidinousPsyche said:

This little update is to all:

I thought they had special perks to these characters, that's why I thought it wasn't fair. I didn't realize we were already using them. Sorry to the ones I offended saying we should remove them for all. If I thought it was just skins, I wouldn't have started this post. Again apologies.

Oh yeah, they renamed all the perks and made them commons. Perks aee considered BHVRs own creation, so as long as they changed the name and didn't link them to the characters they could still use em. And everybody gets access to the same perks. Demo is a fun killer tho.

  • @Nathan13 said:

The “health” chapter came last summer with the perk overhaul and the prestige changes. And DLC’s are gonna continue to come every 3 months or so because of the money grab.

The problem with that is they didn't really focus on "health", they skipped right to perk changes. So all they did was change which perks weee used to achieve the exact same meta. That's why people are bored.

I think you're right though. When it comes to the money, they're not gonna change their release pattern. Whales will keep em afloat until it's too late to salvage the game.

  • I think it would be good if they cut 1 chapter a year in favor of a larger balancing pass/game health update. Once they get some of the core issues under control, they could use it to refresh the meta every year. It'd go a long way in keeping things interesting.
