Precisely my point.
These changes will do nothing for me as an experienced Killer. They hinder me against good Survivors and only help me stomp casual players harder, something I did not need any assistance doing.
All this does is further alienate the casual playerbase and incentivizes gen rushing.
Average-bad groups will always be a stomp. The only way to change that would be to significantly buff survivor, which would make the game unplayable against anyone decent.

Oh?
You enjoy getting gen rushed?
Bad logic. Good survivors already gen rush. The healing changes will not change how these people play.

Disagree. While it's important to teach new players, it's also crucial to take into account the experience of seasoned players. Especially with how inaccurate MMR currently is. Neglecting the needs of either group could lead to an unbalanced game that is not enjoyable for anyone. Instead, finding a way to balance both sets of players will result in a fair and enjoyable experience for all.
Do you have any ideas on how we could make it easier for new players to learn the ropes of the game, while still ensuring that long-time players can enjoy their experience? Lots of new players quit the game early because of not-so-fun mechanics and the overwhelming number of perks that need knowledge to counter.
There needs to be a mandatory tutorial on how to run tiles- that would be a good start

I respectfully disagree. Balancing the game for new survivors is important to ensure that the game remains accessible to a wider audience. While players will certainly learn by playing the game, it's important to make sure that the learning curve isn't so steep that it discourages new players from sticking around. Just because you have 3000 hours in the game doesn't mean that everyone does, and it's important to keep in mind that not everyone has the same level of experience.
You do that by teaching players how to play the game, not by dumbing down perks and gameplay. It isn’t fair to people who have put in time to balance the game around new players.

How does that logic follow? Killers complained because it is a bs perk that gives you an extra health state.

I promise you, it's completely possible to win against good teams.
Provided you, yourself, are also good.
Being the worse player and expecting to win is entitlement, after all
With a basic killer, not named Nurse or Blight, I would argue it’s impossible.

Deathslinger was S tier when he was released. Small teror radius combined with quick aim ability was really strong.
Your other aspect isn't valid either.
Tofu is a killer main and manages to win 90% of his games while reading chat 50% of the time. Can you do the same? Do you have the same skill level?
The argument that his survivor opponents make mistakes is valid for everyone. Most survivors in this game are bad and make many mistakes.
Only entitled kiler mains in this forum face 4 man sweaty SWF teams with BNPs and ranger medkits every game.
It’s not entitled to want to be able to win against a good team. Bad survivors expecting to win is entitlement.

Most competent survivors prefer interactive fun matches and being chased by the killer rather than just sitting on gens.
With dead hard removed and healings nerfed this aspect of the game will suffer considerably. In order to compensate this they will prefer to stay injured, bing toolboxes and smash the gens into adrenaline. That's what my friends and me are gonna do.
However, since most of the survivors are not competent at all they will just give killer free hits, try to heal and still die in the end at 4 or 5 gens.
If you need dead hard to ensure a long chase, you aren’t a good player. The game is full of strong tiles and pallets that waste a ton of the killer’s time.

It's funny how entitled killer mains try to deny OhTofu's 7 years DBD expertise (pub and comp level) predominantly as a killer main.
If this update comes live like this experienced players will just switch to gen rush strategy and will stay injure for the most part of the match.
Unexperienced players (which are like 90% of survivors' player base) on the other hand will just get slaughtered by sweaty Nurse, Blight, Spirit players and now even by mediocre killers on top of this. After some days of such monotonous experience most of them will leave the game and play something else which is more fun than just repeatedly holding m1 and W shift.
This isn’t true at all. Survivors (competent ones) already push gens as hard as possible. This secret doomsday that’s being threatened has been in the game for years. It’s the same cognitive dissonance that says killers will stop tunneling with more incentives. In reality, killers will tunnel as long as it is the best strategy

However, when/if people just stop playing because soloq will be really aggravating now, I don't want to see any surprised Pikachu faces around here heh.

I know that nobody cares, but this is a forum and people can express their opinion.
I can take all the other changes in the game, but nerfing med kits and COH at the same time is really overkill. It should have been only one of them.
And again, camping, tunneling, and 3-gen holders are not even been addressed.
Solo queue is gonna be a pain, and I'm not gonna support that.

As I recall, most of the negative feedback on the PTB and following was from killers regarding how weak she is. The only thing survivors complained about were these way too long stalemate games. Surely those weren't fun for killers either?
It’s definitely more fun to have a chance than to be a worthless M1 killer, which she now is.

She is still strong at defending gens after the changes, just not quite as oppressive as before arguably, which is a good thing.
But on the other hand she is definitely more capable in chases now.
The chase thing did nothing. It will take half the time of the claw trap for skull merchant to even start a chase if the survivor chooses to hold W when she approaches.

Holding a 3-gen for an hour is holding the game hostage. "It's a tactic" yeah a tactic to get banned.
Stats say every Killer is viable, even at "high" mmr. Pretty crazy how if you're good at the game, you can do well.
Me doing well doesn’t blind me to the fact that killer is at a huge disadvantage against good survivors, as it apparently does for you. There is no point in talking about viability if we aren’t talking about the highest level of play. Surprise, Trapper is viable if we’re talking about mediocre players.

Means she won't hold games hostage, so that's already an improvement.
Also means she might get a rework that might actually salvage her.
Nice complete avoidance of my question by the way, very telling.
I didn’t avoid anything: holding a 3 gen is a viable strategy that every killer in the game can do, especially with the right build. Defending gens isn’t holding the game hostage; it’s a tactic.
I’ve also never heard a lamer cop out argument that now she can receive a rework. At the rate the devs work, maybe that will happen in 3 years. As of right now, she is completely gutted and joins most other killers as being unviable against good survivors.

This. They're afraid of that and challenging themselves as well.
You win some, you lose some, it's no big deal but Pulsar is right, they just don't want to risk losing.
It’s not that simple. This game is so poorly balanced that it is nearly impossible to win against good survivors. Why would anyone want to play a match that will be nearly impossible to win? As Nurse, I pretty much never lobby dodge since she can hang. If I’m playing DS and load into a lobby with p80 and p100 survivors? Yea, no thanks.

Tunneling has no cons? I am sorry, but if you played Killer for some time now don't tell me you ever got punished for it. How many times the rest of the team prevent you from finishing the tunneld Survivor (by many means) or you wasted like 4+ gens on killing them? (Endurance effects, body blocks, hell even DS sometimes can do something a bit).
That hasn’t happened to me in like 3 years and I tunnel a lot. It’s the strongest strategy because the game is imbalanced.

Stop with the outrage. This game is completely unbalanced in favor of survivors if they know what they’re doing. Why would anyone want to play against that? Don’t give me the “get better” line. There isn’t much to improve on with most killers.

The majority of perks in the game are not worth using, on both sides. The problem is that some perks on both sides are good in the majority of situations, with few or no drawbacks. In my opinion, all perks should be relatively weak and only give minor buffs.

That's a very black and white way to look at. There are loads of steps between knowing to run a tile and don't.
There are people who go to shack and instantly throw the pallet while the killer is miles away (bad)
you have people who know to vault the window 3 times and then go to the pallet, but crumble the moment the killer doesn't follow them in a straight line (beginner)
You have people who are aware of the mindgames and will walk in the center or wait around safe corners to look what the killer is doing before commiting to anything (intermediate)
And you have people who are more aware of the entire map and will run to nearby loops after vaulting shack window and chain them to create gamelosing chases for killers (expert)
By your definition the beginner one who knows how to loop a tile is at peak level
Also this is a bit of a assumption based on you mentioning her and your pfp but do you mostly play nurse by any chance?
If that's the case then can you you really blame me if i don't think your oppinion on m1 killers is as solid as you think it is when you play the one and only killer that has absolutely zero m1 gameplay
She plays a completely different game. And I am willing yo believe you are really good at dead by nurselight but maybe you don't know as much as you think you do about dead by daylight the game the rest of the killer cast plays
Sorry but thinking that certain m1 killer have 60% killrates in top 5% mmr because the mayority of top 5% mmr is bad is pure copium
And with all the mindgames you can learn, learning how to zone people to where you want, learning to judge distance to know what you can and can't make, learning what pallets you can leave up and play around and which ones you can't, etc... thinking m1 gameplay has a low skillceiling is equally as silly
It has a much higher skill ceiling then you think, you're just stuck in the basement unable to find the stairs cause you refuse to turn on the light
I also dominate with M1 killers, as I was playing them long before I picked up Nurse, so you’re wrong right off the bat. None of the mind games in DBD are that complicated. You don’t have to be an expert to see that, even through winning mindgames, it takes far too long for an M1 killer to catch a survivor. This is why camping and tunneling are popular; it is literally impossible for basic killers to keep going for chases. The only copium here is you pretending that DBD mindgames have any depth. Everyone knows this game is shallow.
-
Killer: Nurse because dealing with uncounterable loops isn’t fun.
Survivor: Steve because eye candy 😍

I'm mad killers use tactics to deliberately turn the game into a griefing simulator. I truly do not give a **** whether I die if everyone seems like they're having a good time and the killer has a good attitude.
You're right though, I should be happy when a skull merchant uses an RPD offering to deliberately protect a 3 gen while slugging people over and over to ensure the match gets dragged out for as long as possible, before begging for negative attention in the post game.
Maybe some people aren’t like you and care about winning? Lets also not pretend that only killers play to win. Survivors frequently put out farm and game map offerings. It goes both ways.

People having this mindset is why the game is ****ing miserable anymore. It's a video game. Have fun, understand that you're playing with other human beings who are playing to have a good time. Winning or losing is meaningless.
Or you could deliberately bore people into uninstalling the game.

5 years and counting too
And that's what i mean with perception of what is decent being skewed. If you view everything below the top players as bad then yeah, i can see why you would think M1 killers are impossible or why matchmaking is is horrible.
But that's not really a realistic way to look at it now is it. Game feels a lot better if you don't downplay every victory you gain cause you think survivors that don't play perfect are bad
I’m not talking about perfection. I’m talking about people who run in a straight line against Nurse, then DC when I down them. These people should have 0 say in game balance.
What does being average in DBD mean? The game mechanics are limited; you either know how to run tiles or you don’t.
-
@Sonzaishinai said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3370721#Comment_3370721
Going to disagree with that
People either heavilly overexagurate how hard it is to get a m1 hit or their view on what is a "decent" survivor is very skewed
It's not impossible to get m1 hits, if it was then killers like Onryo or Legion wouldn't be at 60% killrate at high mmr. There are enough content creators that show it's not impossible to win with a m1 killer. You have to be ruthless yes but not impossible
Ofcourse a pig is not going to win against a 20k hours combined comp team but that's not what you get when you get a game, even at high mmr
Again when i talk about tunneling not being needed or even being detrimental to win i do mean the "get a kill by hook 3 kind" you still need to get a kill by atleast hook 5
I know i'm not going to change your mind so i'm not going to try but when you say i have a lack of understanding, i say your view is probably based on the sounds of echo chambers rather then on your own findings
It is based on 5 years of playing this game. Killers are over 60% kill rate because most of the playerbase is bad.

I did say "if the killer isn't good at chases"
If you're a godchaser or a nurse then yeah you can still pull it off
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3370682#Comment_3370682
When i talk about tunneling i do mean the "pick one survivor and nobody else exist untill that one is dead" kind
Getting a player out of the game asap is ofcourse the best strat. I just find that focussing everything on a single survivor can backfire hard.
Again, you are showing a lack of understanding. With Nurse, yes, I agree that she is less reliant on tunneling. But if you’re going to tell me that a killer like pig can catch a decent survivor in a reasonable amount of time, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Maps are too big and there are too many safe pallets. The problem with DBD is that being “good” at chase often just means getting good rng/survivors messing up. The skill ceiling is too low for most killers to show skill.
-
@Sonzaishinai said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3370560#Comment_3370560
That's the problem a lot of people created for themself
The MMR looks to give you a winrate of about 50%, Racing to tunnel someone out is a cheese strat. It's something that will decimate lower experienced survivors but good survivors will counter it easily if the killer isn't good in chases.
People want to win more and they hear tunneling is super effective, so they do that and crush the survivors they were matched with. Untill they start facing survivors that know how to deal with it and then they are stuck in a MMR zone where their only tactic doesn't work. They don't have the skill to actually beat these survivors so they think that the only way to win is to tunnel.
I don't hardtunnel or camp unless the survivors are begging me to do it and my killer matches are usually chill. Sometimes i lose ofcourse but that's how it's suppose to be
I win literally 95% of my matches. If I’m not at top MMR where tunneling supposedly “doesn’t work” then there is something very wrong with MMR.

Nurse was literally just nerfed, in no small part because of the barrage of dcs and complaint threads from entitled survivors.

@Peanits said:
I hate to be that guy, but being able to win without even trying is the very definition of a matchmaking system not working. You're not being punished by having to try, you're being matched against people of your skill level. And if you really do want to relax and not take it too seriously, you can do that and your rating will adjust to where you can relax and still do reasonably well after some losses.
And as others have pointed out, a better matchmaking system was a very common request. The old rank system was not as unanimously loved as you might remember.
The problem is that this game isn’t balanced enough to have MMR. Every match now is a race to immediately tunnel someone out so that it becomes manageable. Before MMR, I could usually play pretty chill and not have to hard camp/tunnel. The old ranking system was flawed, but it was better than this.

You can thank this community and the devs for the current state of things. Constant crying about killer powers and gen regression, along with awful map design have brought us to this point. Why should the killer go on a chase that is guaranteed to waste a lot of time?

Smash pick up get next hit due to lack of resources rage smash survivor of choice (preferably a healthy one) collect repeat. Simplified to grossness but we think you get the point. You make it seem like the killer can't play smart.
Hoping that all of the survivors are close enough together to steamroll is not smart play. It’s controlled by the survivors. The reality is, all but two killers have very little agency in the chase. There are too many safe structures and pallets, hence why 3 genning and camping have become even more prevalent.
-

And then he proceeds to squash survivors like bugs as they have both less to work with and he has instant down with mobility.
What we don't get is why people think that losing those first gens means the end of the game when its the exit gates that mater.
The steam rolling part of his power is entirely within the survivor’s control. That can only happen if they play poorly and stay close to each other.
-
@Rulebreaker said:
If we said he's already viable against good survivors, would you believe us?

If this is truly the problem, then the answer is simply making the killer more deadly on these scenarios. She is actually so bad rn you basically hinge on the 3 gen gameplay that is just as boring on the killer side and even then doesn’t even guarantee a 2K because the attrition is still in survivors favor here unless somehow you’ve already gotten two kills by this point. If those gens are done, you might as well go stare at a wall tho.
IMO make expose baseline faster so Survivors are essentially forced to deal with it, but exposes have greater potential for effecting a match(alternatively no longer show borders of zones to survivors, make them pay attention to their tracked meter), in exchange make it so drones have an actual cooldown so they can’t just be insta spammed once they go down, I don’t like it but it’s the compromise it would need imo.
Another “compromise “ that would end up screwing the killer. Typical forum post.

This is absolutely untrue. I have been playing since 2018. The balance was technically worse then, but the lack of matchmaking made it so you got poor groups to play against. Even though those matches can still happen, it is far more common now to encounter a competent group.

They already said why Nurse was getting changes. They found hotspots at the low and high end in regards to add-ons. If they heard lots of complaints then there is reason for those complaints. When they pulled up the data they found places where it was showing there was a large disparity with running certain add-ons vs not. They change those add-ons and now there is no complaining about Nurse. Still a top killer that is now in a more healthy spot.
A lot of complaints doesn’t mean the complaints are valid.
-
@Peanits said:
What purpose would this actually serve other than encouraging elitism? One person's opinion is no more valid than someone else's just because their MMR is higher. Both of you are people playing a video game, we should be doing what we can to ensure that both of you have a good time. To say that only someone who's among the best in the world should have a say would imply that the opinions of the vast majority of people playing in the middle of the pack don't matter, which is incredibly selfish.
I really can't begin to stress how rare it is for someone to be near or above the matchmaking softcap for MMR. Far more people claim to be 'max MMR' when in reality, there's nowhere near that many people up there.
That said, that's what the community team is here for; to take feedback from everyone, including the people who are up there.
i’ll second what the guy above me said. Someone who doesn’t know the game very well doesn’t have much meaningful to contribute to a discussion on balance because they don’t know what’s going on, other than that they are upset at losing.
You also have said numerous times that you don’t balance around top level play, yet have nerfed killers such as Nurse, Deathslinger, Billy, and others even though the vast majority of players were not good enough to unlock their potential, and they were not a statistical problem. If you were truly balancing around “everyone “, those killers wouldn’t have been nerfed.

As a Survivor Main, after 1,500 hours of Dead by Daylight, the only thing I find fun is looping killers.
And every time you release more anti-looping mechanics, you kill the only thing left that I find fun in DBD.
The Knight for example, his guards just ruin loops. I'd say I am facing a Knight every other game nowadays, and frankly it's boring. His guards aren't even affected by pallets or windows much, they just kinda go right through them really fast. It's so boring when a Knight just keeps spamming his ability to deny loops and down you quicker.
The game is already M1 simulator, but at least I can have fun engaged in chases with killers. At start of games, I will run into the middle of the map and do the hardest generator location on purpose, to initiate the first chase.
But anti-loop mechanics are just so boring and removes any incentive to launch this game up for me. It's gotten to the point, where I just don't even want to play against any anti-loop killer AT ALL.
Knight especially. I absolutely hate Knight's killer abilities with the Guards stuff. (don't @ me with stories of your low MMR games with crappy killers)
Just because a killer has an antiloop mechanic doesn’t mean that you can’t loop. You can dodge things like DS gun, hatchets, or pyramid head’s attack. What it sounds like you’re saying is that you only enjoy running killers who can’t do anything except walk circles, and make it so you can’t be challenged.
